Separation anxiety
Fallout 4 companions really not liking being away from you, their partner - headcanons.
Slight triggers warnings for death and suicidal ideations.
A/n: Life isn't doki doki rn chat.
Cait:

❤︎ Cait doesn't like other people all that much. There's also not a whole lot of people like her, especially due to her selfish and often rude personality.
❤︎ At first she becomes angry with you. She doesn't understand why the hell you're leaving her behind. Did she finally upset you? Did her attitude push you away? Cait wants answers.
❤︎ Not above demanding to go with you. She finally has someone that cares about her, a decent life. She'll be hard to deal with the entire time
❤︎ Cait spirals back into some bad habits in your absence, even when she tries not to. She spends a lot of time at bars, drinking away her sorrows and worries.
❤︎ Generally becomes a big pain to deal with to other people. She snaps a whole lot more and becomes more anxious and irritated. She's stuck between being angry with you and missing you.
❤︎ Has no idea how to act when you come back. On one hand she wants to give you a smack upside the head and yell at you, on the oher she wants to just sink into your arms and not let go again.
Curie:
❤︎ Curie doesn't understand what she's feeling fully, but she absolutely hates it. It feels like a bucket of ice cold water has been poured directly over her synthetic heart.
❤︎ Handles a bit more mature than the other companions on this list. She keeps a cool head, but she's still grappling with the newfound emotions brought into the situation.
❤︎ Curie doesn't really think to argue, but pleads for you to reconsider. When she realizes it's futile, she just tries to prepare you for your trip. She packs you stimpaks, purified water and anything else she can find.
❤︎ Takes your absence hard. She finds herself near tears for the first time in her life. Nothing is comforting, she can't focus on her work for more than a minute before thoughts of you creep in again.
❤︎ Finds herself among the items you left behind. If you have a home in a settlement, she'll spend practically all her time there, moving all her research there.
❤︎ Frantically checks you for any injuries as soon as you step foot through the door. After all your wounds have been treated, and you settled in, she finally calms down.
Danse:

❤︎ Danse had everything stripped away from him. Even though he won't fully admit it, in his eyes you're his sole reason for existing, his purpose. He has gotten so used to being there with and for you that he can't imagine it otherwise.
❤︎ So when you tell him you have to part ways, he feels his heart sink. He was a Brotherhood Paladin, he thought he was above the feeling of insecurity that washes over him. He wonders if you changed your mind about keeping a synth around, not that he'd blame you.
❤︎ He won't fight you on it, even if he wants to. Instead putting on a brave face and wishing you good luck. He'll part with a tight hug, pleading for you to be safe, that he can't handle losing you.
❤︎ Nervous wreck the entire time. Part of him wishes he had just gone with you regardless. He keeps to himself most of the time, not really socializing and staying near your home.
❤︎ Goes through his entire training to try and keep his cool. He's never felt this kind of unrest in his life. He'll occupy himself by repairing his power armor over and over again, as well as physical exercise.
❤︎ The decorum goes somewhat out the window when you come back. Danse takes you into his arms, taking a moment to feel the comfort of your body against his again. Next time, he's coming with.
Deacon:

❤︎ Deacon's responses are cryptic and suspicious from the start. He doesn't fight you going, taking the hint when you say you have to go alone, but that's not the end of it.
❤︎ Deacon knows this game, having vanished on people, including you for the safety of everyone involved. Railroad work is rough, and the last thing he wants is to compromise your safety.
❤︎ That doesn't mean he's going to sit by idly, though. He's well aware he can't follow you himself. He's way too closely connected with you, and you'll definitely notice if he follows you. You know him too well for him to be able to pull that off.
❤︎ So he connects with every tourist and Railroad agent he can find. Preferably the ones you don't know as well. Every single move is tracked so he knows where you're at, ready to step in should the need arise.
❤︎ Deacon's behavior around other shifts only slightly. He'll keep up his usual appearances and antics, but he does seem a little more distracted than usual.
❤︎ Waiting on you when you come back. He casually welcomes you back with a hug and kiss, saying he knew that you'd make it home safe. But as soon as you turn your back on him, he breathes a sigh of relief.
Gage:

❤︎ Gage almost gets annoyed with how the news of you leaving upsets him. He tries to reason it's because you're the overboss, and the place would fall apart without you to lead it. But he can't deny the dull sense of panic welling up in him.
❤︎ This raider doesn't go without a fight. He'll become angry. He's your right hand man, he's supposed to stick by your side. He has no idea why he's acting like this. Last thing he wants is to put himself in needless danger. But he can't stand the thought of you walking out into the wasteland alone.
❤︎ Tries to come up with any rational conclusion he can find. He wonders if you are planning to turn your back on him and the raider gangs, he certainly feels betrayed by you leaving him behind. You'll have to firmly remind him that you're still the boss of him before he even considers backing down. Though that doesn't mean he appreciates you holding rank above his head.
❤︎ Struggles keeping the raider gangs together in your absence. At any given moment he feels like there's going to be a revolt, leading to his own death. Part of him resents you from putting him in this position.
❤︎ At his lowest point, he found himself sitting on your side of the bed, stroking his fingers over an article of your clothing. When he fully realized what he was doing, he tossed it aside, trying to convince himself you haven't affected him.
❤︎ When you come back, he keeps his feelings to himself as you deal with the leaders of the other raider gangs. But as soon as the two of you are alone. He gives you a scolding for leaving him behind, with you in the comforts of his arm.
Hancock:
❤︎ Hancock is the last person who wants to curb your freedom, but he's also keenly aware of the danger you're putting yourself in. You've made quite a name for yourself in the Commonwealth, and as his partner, you have an even bigger target on your back.
❤︎ He asks you what's going on. If you're in trouble with some gang he can find a way to make them either back off or disappear entirely. Goodneighbor can survive without him, he's not so sure about you, though.
❤︎ He'll get frustrated if you don't give him a straight answer as to whats going on, and you're better off just telling him how you feel. Just tell him exactly where you're going and what you're going to do, just so he knows where to find you.
❤︎ Reluctantly lets you go. He swears to himself that if you're not back at a certain time, he's going out himself to come looking for you and bring you home.
❤︎ Finds a lot of comfort in chems, obviously. He finds being sober rather unpleasant when he doesn't know where you are and if you're even alive, mentally beating himself up for letting you.
❤︎ Probably high as hell when you come back. He's not lucid enough to fully grasp that you're home alive. When he wakes up that night he immediately reaches out for you, praying your return wasn't a drug infused hallucination of what he wanted.
MacCready:
❤︎ MacCready lost someone he dearly loved, he can't bear the thought of it happening again. The mere idea of you going off without him there protect you, makes him sick to his stomach.
❤︎ Argues at first. He is angry, he wants to stay by your side. What's so important that you had to leave him behind? His voices raises and his voice begins to crack.
❤︎ Then begins the bargaining. He knows he can't force you, but dammit he needs you. He wouldn't be able to take it if he lost you as well. so just let him go with you just in case. You hired him to watch your back for crying out loud, why are you being so goddamn stubborn?
❤︎ Actually fighting to keep himself together in your absence. He drinks, smokes and tries whatever he can to calm himself down. He thinks of every horrible way you could die without him there to save you, and it kills him. He failed to protect his wife, and he can't stand not being able to protect you too.
❤︎ Just like Cait he is irritable and unsociable. He snaps at people, his attitude is even worse than usual. MacCready has absolutely zero patience and he feels he's gonna lose it at any given moment. Keeps to himself as much as he can. He's neck deep in denial with how much he lays awake at night, instinctively reaching out for you, only to realize you're not there.
❤︎ As soon as he sees you walking back to him, he's on you within seconds. His arms wrapped around you as he fights back a few tears of relief. He'll let his hands roam all over your body, letting the reality sink in that you're back safe. Just so you know, you're not going anywhere for the next few hours.
Nick Valentine:
❤︎ Thinks you've utterly lost your mind. Going out into the Commonwealth alone is something only people with a death wish do. Or those too confident in their abilities.
❤︎ Given his nature as a detective, he tries to get to the root of your decision. He'd rather be there to watch your back in case something happens. After all through his detective work he has seen the absolute worst of the wasteland.
❤︎ Part of him wonders if you're concerned about him breaking down. It doesn't really matter to him, he would rather lose a limb or two than lose you.
❤︎ Just like Hancock he wants to know exactly where you are going, why and who you might be with. It helps him calculate the dangers. Worst case scenario, he'll know exactly where to start looking if you go missing.
❤︎ Takes on more cases to distract himself, convincing himself you're smart enough not to take stupid risks. Though his deduction skills are greatly reduced as he is occupied with worry for you.
❤︎ Stands at the entrance to Diamond city when you come back. Turns out he stands out by the gate every evening to see if you come back. He'll welcome you with a kiss to the forehead, wrapping an arm around you to pull you close.
Piper:
❤︎ Part of Piper feels annoyed that you're leaving her out of your adventures. She doesn't need to be protected, she can handle herself just fine.
❤︎ Like Nick Valentine, she wants to find out exactly what's going on. Nothing should warrant you leaving her in the dark, or behind for that matter.
❤︎ Doesn't willingly let you go, but doesn't actively prevent you from going. She is worried to death that something will happen to you. That you'll get taken out by raiders, super mutants or god forbid the Institute. Hell, she thought a synth might have replaced you. The real you would never leave her behind!
❤︎ As soon as you're gone, just like Deacon, she begins to dig. She tries getting Nick to help her out with tracking you. She'll be two steps behind you if she can. And if she can't follow you, she'll try getting informants.
❤︎ She feels bad about stalking your moves, but she needs to know why you left her at home. And if you're safe. She can't help how nosy she is. If you bit the big one she'd never recover.
❤︎ Once she hears you're on your way back, she makes you promise to never ditch her again. She also wouldn't complain if you bought her a drink as compensation.
Preston:

❤︎ You aren't just Preston's partner, you're his hero. You're the general of the minuteman, you brought his whole reason to live back. He truly sees you as a knight in shining armor.
❤︎ Last thing he wants is for you to end up like General Becker. For the minuteman to end up like they did after he died. Last thing he wants is to lose the person who was always there for him, his closest friend and his partner.
❤︎ As your loyal right hand man, he respects you greatly, and he doesn't want to fight you on this, even as he feels his heart go numb with fear.
❤︎ The minutemen heavily relies on you, he relies on you. He can't handle it if his world comes crashing down on him a second time, if he had to lose everything he thought for, and the person he loved more than anything.
❤︎ Tries his damned best to make you proud by keeping things going. He has some minutemen keep their ears open and report back any news on you. Keeping everything you fought together to build running brings him a bit of comfort.
❤︎ Actually sheds a tear or two when you come home safe, clutching you to his body as he buries his face in your hair. It feels like he can breathe again, and he takes an evening off so you two can spend time together.
X6-88:
❤︎ X6-88 doesn't fully understand why you wouldn't want the help of him, an Institute courser. Surely it would be a lot safer and easier if you just took him with him.
❤︎ He takes the order without a fight, just with a few questions as two why he can't join you, and when you'll be back. He makes you agree that if you haven't returned on the agreed date and location, he'd come looking for you himself.
❤︎ The synth isn't good with emotions, greatly lacking most of them. The dull sting in his chest isn't something he thinks deeply about. Instead he pushes the physical discomfort away and continues his duties as usual.
❤︎ He finds himself checking the approaching date of your scheduled return over and over again, calculating the time you had left before he would assume something had happened.
❤︎ When more than a couple minutes ticked past your supposed return, he was more than ready to start a full on search for you through the Commonwealth.
❤︎ Told you not to keep him waiting as soon as you returned. Outwardly he looked just the same, but he wondered why that ache in his chest had stopped.

Sweet Doesn't Mean Naive (Fallout Characters)
Fandom: Fallout 4 Scenario: The characters meeting and falling for a reader who is very sweet and helpful and accepting. Initially they may think the reader is naive because of their nature but soon learn differently. Pairings: Cait x Reader, Danse x Reader, Hancock x Reader, MacCready x Reader, Nick x Reader + Copper Howard x Reader.
Notes: Zero uses of Y/N or Sole. I may do a part 2 for the other characters later, these are just the ones that I'm super inspired for rn. [Also this is based on me never being able to select rude options in video games unless I genuinely hate the character lol]
Trigger Warning: These may be slightly OOC as I'm still familiarizing myself with the characters (more so the FO4 characters than Coop)
Cait:
Cait initially underestimates you, thinking you're too sweet and accepting to survive in the Wasteland. However, she's surprised when she discovers your savvy side, handling dangerous situations with intelligence and composure.
Your kindness and willingness to help others win her heart, and she admires your ability to adapt and thrive in challenging circumstances.
Cait falls for you deeply, realizing that your sweetness is not a weakness but a strength.
Danse:
Danse is initially cautious around you, expecting you to be naive due to your sweet and accepting demeanor. However, he's pleasantly surprised when he witnesses your quick thinking and resourcefulness during a perilous situation.
Your kindness and helpfulness earn his respect, and he admires your ability to handle yourself in tough situations.
Danse develops feelings for you, impressed by your combination of kindness and savvy decision-making skills.
Hancock:
Hancock is amused by your sweetness and helpfulness, initially thinking you might be a bit naive about the dangers of the Commonwealth. However, he's pleasantly surprised when you prove to be street smart and savvy in various situations.
Your accepting nature and open-mindedness capture his interest, and he admires your ability to see the good in people while still being aware of the harsh realities of the world.
Hancock develops strong feelings for you, fascinated by your unique blend of kindness and savvy insight.
MacCready:
MacCready is cautious around you at first, assuming you're naive because of your sweet and accepting personality. However, he quickly realizes that you're more savvy than you appear when you show exceptional skill in handling dangerous situations.
Your helpfulness and compassion make a lasting impression on him, and he admires your ability to adapt and survive in tough circumstances.
MacCready falls for you, drawn to your kindness and impressed by your hidden savvy nature.
Nick Valentine:
Nick initially sees you as naive, given your sweet and accepting demeanor. However, he's amazed when you display a keen understanding of complex situations and handle them with grace and intelligence.
He finds your kindness and empathy touching, and he admires your ability to see through people's facades while still maintaining your positive outlook.
Nick develops strong feelings for you, intrigued by your combination of sweetness and savvy awareness of the world around you.
Cooper:
When you first met, Coop was fairly dismissive of you. He thought you were just going to get yourself killed fairly soon. Your generous nature was a sign of naïveté in his eyes. So he wanted as little to do with you as possible.
Then you gave him a months supply of vials for free. And he decided to stick with you. Deciding the best repayment was to protect you from the dangers of the Wasteland and yourself.
That's when he learned just how much he'd underestimated you. You were kind and always willing to help absolutely anyone but you were not one that could taken advantage of.
And that's what really impressed him. The more of your acumen that Cooper saw, the more he grew to care about you. Including your altruistic nature.

Hello! May I request fallout 4 companions (Nick especially) with Sole who shares the bare minimum of information about themselves? Not because Sole doesn’t trust them, they really enjoy theirs companions company. Perhaps they busy themselves so they don’t have to think about all the little and big things they miss. (I bet Codsworth would find pristine things that Sole would miss (like a favorite movie, vinyl, or comic?))
Sorry if its not something you’re interested in doing right now. The ask kinda came out as a ramble, I’m lacking sleep haha. Thanks again for considering my request!
》Honestly one of my favorite kinds of characters.
【Cait】 She doesn't appreciate it. Her contract was traded to some random weirdo who barely says anything. It took three days before the topic of your name came up. And two weeks to know what you were looking for, who. But in return you don't ask what she does on her own time or what she's done. It feels like you don't mind rather than you don't care and that makes her feel seen. It stays between you unsaid in her eyes.
♡If romanced she doesn't push for any information. You'll tell her if it's important. People think it's weird the two of you to not share about yourselves like normal people but you're happy, that's all that matters.
【Codsworth】 It's just like it was before. He, unlike the others, already knows you. He knows you very well. Not only did you do an intake for daily preferences but he also served you for a few years. While you're out and about you'll do something or say something that sounds like no information to others or out of context and he'll answer, "Just as I was thinking as well." While you camp with some of the other companions he does chores the way you like without needing to ask, making comment on recent events, which makes them jealous for sure. He digs up things from the house he preserved or found and fixes them up brand new before presenting it to you. Songs you liked or wanted to hear. Movies and shows and comics. Clothes pressed for you and the furniture is redone the way it used to be. He knows you and wants to keep it that way.
【Curie】 Low-key doesn't care. She has one thing on her mind and that's her own goal to better medicine. Finding things to do that is all she needs of you. When she goes to be a synth her feelings overwhelm her and you guide her through that. She's never ever asked about you. She'll tell you about what she's feeling but never thinks to ask what you feel. In her defense, is doesn't understand the nuance of social interactions. And to her credit, it works for the both of you.
♡If she's romanced she realizes she wants to know what you feel and if it's the same as her. She's mostly interested in what you feel now rather than what your opinion is in the past or isn't currently relevant.
【Danse】 Right away he doesn't care for it. A mercenary who talks very little can be dangerous. But you followed orders well and are a damn good shot. The way he asks is more like demanding. It was all for a vetting process but still rude. After the intake he didn't care about your lack of openness. Didn't matter to him personally. After BB he suddenly regrets not knowing you. He was so rude and dismissed you as another faceless soldier and you saved him, from the Brotherhood and himself. Now he wants to know you.
♡If romanced he makes effort to know you, like really know you. For a long time he refused individuality so his own sense of self is not great. But you know yourself and make no attempt to hide it. You are so sure of yourself you don't need to explain. That's one of the things he loves about you.
【Deacon】 He thinks you're like him, that you want to hide in plain sight. As much as he gives that to you he's nosy as fuck and takes every chance to learn about you, mostly from afar. It doesn't take any time at all for him to realize you'll just tell him. Most of them are one word answers. It takes him even less time after that to realize you'll comment on things from before the war especially.
♡If romanced he goes out of his way to show you stuff. Old posters and toys. If you follow my headcanon that he's pre-war, he makes old references and generally adds comments on things to bait your answers.
【Hancock】 He thinks it's pretty cool. "Oh, tall, dark, and handsome/beautiful." He does play twenty questions with you 24/7 and is very happy with your half-answers because an answer is still an answer. Plus he knows at least two other people like you. He is the one who figures out that you just don't have the time or think about talking about yourself rather than purposely keeping secrets the fastest. He knows people so he knows better.
♡If romanced he plays with it. You want a kiss? Tell him what's your favorite color. He'll get on his knees if you tell him what you like about your new home. But honestly he'll do it anyways. All he needs to know is that you want him like he wants you.
【MacCready】 He was more concerned about you putting a bullet in his head while his back was turned. Everyone in the Commonwealth was looking out for number one. So imagine his surprise when you were looking out for your number one and it wasn't you. Not only were you looking for your son but you stopped to help every person who asked for help. Your actions spoke to him in a way your words, he figured, couldn't. You didn't need to help him but you did. You didn't take the caps back. And you killed the gunners the second they turned their guns on him even when they said their beef wasn't with you. It was what you did, not what you told him.
♡If romanced he will ask things. Basic ones are like, "How was your day?" Normal questions that are the peak of domestic life. Then the more personal things. Some sound silly, "What's your favorite color?" But most build off of a quick thing you said in passing, "Wait, you've been to California? What was it like?" He trusts you'll tell him the truth.
【Nick】 As a private detective this simply won't do. He gets it at first, you just need him to find your son, it's business. However, you want him to stay with you after that. It confuses him because you made no indication you like him in the slightest way. He's the second fastest to realize you're not keeping to yourself on purpose. As one of the only ones who are pre-war he's able to get things the others can't. He'll talk about things and give his options and bait you into answering it. That was a common way to get people to talk back then when you were trying to be polite and keep up the conversation, even if the conversation stays a bit thin.
♡If he's romanced he makes fun of the fact you forget to say things about yourself. Don't get it wrong, he makes it clear you don't need to share. He's just poking fun.
【Piper】 This simply won't do. She asks as many question as they come up but she gets depressing short answers. You either give one word answers or say you're not really in the mood, on some occasions you admit you don't know, you never thought about it. It takes a long time for her to stop and that's only because the questions start getting old. And you still feel like a mystery even though you've told her everything.
♡If she's romanced she realizes how much you've told her and pushes it. What is your type? How do your lips feel? Why do you look so good? It becomes playful and light, never serious.
【Preston】 In the beginning he didn't realize he didn't know much about you. He took your help selfishly to get him and his people back on stable ground but you told him you were happy to help. So he takes time to learn about you and give you everything he could possibly help you with. In hopes you would share by yourself he gives things to you without any prompt. It doesn't really work most of the time.
♡If romanced he asks things with hearts in his eyes. He is so lovesick he takes all of your half-answers and files it away in his mind. It hardly matters at that point.
【X6】 It wasn't his mission so he didn't care. You owed him no explanation or justification. Doesn't mean he doesn't question you. He asks why you helped someone, why you stopped for a distraction. And of course you give short answers like, "They needed help." or "I wanted to." Later, after the Institute is gone, he sees how you carry yourself and tries to copy it. Obviously he can't so you help him too. You showed him he can figure himself out by himself and he didn't need you. So he held the same opinion; he doesn't need to know you like that.
♡If romanced he's still comfortable with you keeping things to yourself. It's only after months of being together do you realize he's never asked you a personal question, that you've never shared anything that personal. When you bring that to him he tells you that hardly matters. But seeing you make the effort after that gives him a feeling he can't describe. It's a good feeling he thinks.

Can we get a "Cait idolizes you" post please?
[Cait Idolizes You]
➼ Word Count » 0.7k ➼ Warnings » None ➼ Genre » Headcanons based on how Cait treats you once idolized

Cait feels like she owes you her life and will be at your beck and call, waiting for anything she could possibly do to even make an attempt at paying you back for sticking with her for as long as you have, even if you tell her none of it's necessary, and you love her for her.
Now that she's officially off the chems, she'll try and do more community service-type deeds to clean up her act. She's not much of a fan, but she does need something to do, and what's more exciting than helping Preston and Sturges set up a few more houses? (everything, but she's still grateful to be a part of it)
She's the first to volunteer whenever you say you're headed off to do a quest, and the first to grab a bat whenever someone says something even slightly negative about you.
Every Sunday, she'll drag you down to the Dugoutt Inn, throw you in one of the booths, and offer to share a bottle of Moonshine. Usually, the two of you just talk, but sometimes the Bobrov brothers will come over and tell you guys stories of things that had happened throughout the week. It always reminds you of those Football nights you used to have before the war when you'd gather in someone's basement and just hang out with everyone.
Cait's not the best at it, but whenever you're beaten and bleeding, she'll do her best to try and patch you up. There will always be people out there who're way more qualified than she'll ever be, but she knows the basics.
She definitely makes her opinion known when she thinks you've been drinking too much or have been taking too many drugs. You'll be kept in line with her around, she refuses to let you fall into the same rabbit hole that she did.
Whether you romanced her or not, she'll still jokingly flirt with you all the time. She'll run her hands along your shoulders and whisper the most lewd comments until you start blushing or get a tad flustered.
One of these days she'll take you aside and teach you a few more effective self-defense methods just so you're better prepared in any sort of fight you find yourself in.
Cait may still put up that tough-Irish-girl front of hers, but behind it all is a genuine friend who would stop everything she was doing to sit and listen to whatever it was that was bothering you.
She's so willing to throw down for you. You give her the word, and she'll gladly make someone 'disappear' for you. You guys are like the secret service of the Commonwealth, anyone does anything to either of you, and they're gone.
The jokes she makes are almost always horribly timed. Like you'll be sitting in your room all sad and she'll say something like, "It's totally your fault". She intends for them to be sarcastic quips of some kind, but they don't really land. She's just not that great at cheering people up, but she definitely tries.
Her drug habit might've stopped, but her thieving practice won't. It's for better or for worse, but you can't deny how relieved you get when you notice the extra hundred caps that'd been snuck into your pockets when you weren't looking. They save you in most situations and you almost have to be grateful she hasn't kicked the habit yet.
The one thing with Cait is that you're gonna have to teach her some healthier coping skills before she punches a hole in your wall, or anyone else's for that matter.
She loves to sit with you on the bridge right outside Sanctuary and toss stones. She likes the edges of the rocks in her hands and finds it a bit soothing when they sink and cause ripples in the water.
Overall, Cait ends up being the best friend you never knew you needed. She's there for literally everything and couldn't ever imagine her life without you.

fo4 companions as dads? :0
Fo4 companions as parents!
Added female companions too, also I know Hancock and Valentine both can't have kids, so just imagine them as adoptive/stepparents. I also know it's not really clear as to whether or not synths can reproduce.
Headcanons, talk of pregnancy, obviously.
Cait:

❤︎ Having kids was never part of Cait's plans for the future. Taking care of little snots while working a career at the combat zone was pretty much impossible. To add to that, her own awful upbringing made her afraid.
❤︎ So when the two of you were expecting a little one of your own, she panicked. She loved the kid, she truly did. But she had no clue how she was gonna go about it. There was now a tiny human being that relied on her for everything.
❤︎ Stand offish and distant with the child at first. She is scared to hold them, feed them or generally deal with them, afraid to harm them like her parents did to her. Just about broke down crying once out of frustration and helpnessness.
❤︎ Slowly settles into it with your help. The woman will hold the kid more often, loosen up and actually try to enjoy parenting a little. Motherhood still makes her wanna tear her hair out sometimes, but she'll never let anything happen to them.
❤︎ Bonding with the child is bittersweet for her. On the one hand she is happy that her child isn't afraid of her, relishing in how they run as fast as their little legs can carry them to get their moms comfort after scraping a knee. On the other hand, it dawns on her even more just how shitty her life was before.
❤︎ Not the gentlest parent. Cait has affectionately called your child a 'little shite' on more than one occasion. And while she keeps them away from chems, as they become teens she might give them a little sip of booze every now and then.
Curie:
❤︎ Curie is a walking database of medical knowledge and other important information, so she is probably the best equipped for taking care of a little one. She just wasn't expecting the parental affection to hit her like a trainwreck.
❤︎ Adjusts to parenthood pretty well, all things considered. She has to grapple with newfound emotions, but she can pull herself together enough to take care of the kid. She's a lot more energetic than you when it comes to late night feedings and changing filthy clothes.
❤︎ You have a very healthy child. Curie closely monitors the child's health wherever she can. She tries to find the best foods for them to eat, gets them to avoid stress and keep up good hygiene. It can get a little annoying for the little one, but she means well.
❤︎ Discipline isn't her strong suit. She's not confrontational and the little tear filled tantrums tug on her heart strings. Her logical side knows she has to stand her ground, but her newer, emotional side just wants to hug them and make the crying stop.
❤︎ Probably the calmest when the child does something out of the ordinary. Likely has had to reassure you that a young child not breathing for three seconds isn't any cause for concern. Also fusses less when the child gets scrapes or cuts, unless they're serious.
❤︎ Loves teaching the child everything she knows. Practically homeschools them with a crap ton of medical information and how to treat their own wounds. She thinks education is incredibly important and wants the child to be prepared.
Danse:

❤︎ Danse has had thoughts of being a father before, an idea he abandoned when he found out he was a synth. He wasn't expecting to have a little one of his own, but he couldn't be happier about it. It may not have been what he expected, but he was going to be the best damn dad he could be.
❤︎ Does everything in his power to keep his new little family safe. He fusses over your health and reminds you constantly to take it easy. He keeps the stoic face, but on the inside the former paladin partly feels like he doesn't deserve this, and is afraid his nature as a synth will come back to cause problems.
❤︎ Completely smitten with his little son or daughter. He could spend hours just holding their fragile body in his strong arms. Danse would do anything for them, no matter the cost. That deep seated loyalty once reserved for the Brotherhood now solely focused on his family.
❤︎ Bit of a stricter dad. Definitely wants the child to learn discipline. To tiny up their room, clean up after themselves and create structure in their life and routine. He's also firm in training them himself, wanting to make sure they can take care of themselves. Genuinely wants his kid to do better than him.
❤︎ If he has a daughter, he'd definitely would be a bit more protective of her, especially when it came to any potential partners. Doesn't matter what gender his child is, boyfriends and girlfriends have to meet him first before he lets them into the family.
❤︎ Incredibly proud of his children, but takes it a bit hard when they leave to be on their own. Doesn't matter how long it's been, he'll still go across the Commonwealth or further to visit them.
Deacon:

❤︎ Deacon loves kids, he even wanted his own with his late wife. But he doesn't know how to feel at the news. He'll love that kid more than anything else on this world, but he feels like he can't be a good dad. With his past and his job weighing on him, he feels like a liability. He's not even sure he wants the child to ever know his part in the Railroad.
❤︎ Stuck between wanting to be close to his family at all costs and staying away so the Institute or other anti-Railroad groups can't harm his child because of his job. He always has to have other agents watching over you before he feels even mildly comfortable letting you out of sight.
❤︎ A lot more hesitant about changing his appearance with surgery. At first he didn't think about it. But this is the face his kiddo is used to, the face that their little eyes light up at and reach out for. It just becomes a whole lot less appealing and he tries to avoid it.
❤︎ Hides his worry about his family very well. Deacon acts all carefree, gently tossing his child in the air and catching them or playfighting. He is the typical playful dad that sometimes acts as much as a child as the little one.
❤︎ Teaches the kid to be strong, but also accepting. He wants his child to never judge wastelanders that are different to humans, whether that be ghouls or synths. But above else Deacon wants them to be able to take care of themselves when he no longer can't.
❤︎ Worst sense of dad humor. Turns a lot of things into a joke when it's appropriate. It annoys the hell out of his next of kin, but he thinks it's funny.
John Hancock:
❤︎ Wasn't too sure about taking care of your kid. Don't get him wrong, he loves you, and by extension he also loves your little one. He's just not the best influence on a child. But he cares too much to stay away. He may have been a screw up, but at least he can prevent his newfound stepchild from ending up like him.
❤︎ Takes on a bit more of a fun uncle role to your child. Plays around with them, takes them on trips, will let them have a little sip of his booze if they're old enough. Definitely the fun (step)parent
❤︎ He's your childs scary dog privilege. Nobody dares to mess with Hancock's family, and he knows it. He sticks close to your childs side, glaring at anyone he deems a threat.
❤︎ Sometimes has Fahrenheit or the Neighbourhood watch babysit them while he's busy. You come back to heavily armed men and ghouls feeding them some sweets.
❤︎ Has cursed in front of your kid, will curse in front of them again. Your child learns some pretty colorful language from a young age, good luck for that.
❤︎ Makes dirty jokes to you as well. They're cryptic enough to where your child doesn't get why you're so flustered. They have a major realization about it when they're older.
Nick Valentine:
❤︎ Nick gets used to having your child around pretty fast. He likes kids, and he doesn't mind taking on a parental role whatsoever. At least, as far as you'll allow him to do so. Last thing he wants is to overstep any boundaries.
❤︎ Keeps your kid out of trouble. Scolds them when they sneak out or do anything stupid. He comes across like a grumpy old dad.
❤︎ Always finds out what your child is up to, nothing stays hidden from the old detective. Has found your young child back so many times when they ran off irresponsibly to go play.
❤︎ Is your childs shoulder to cry on. Nick is great at giving them advice, and generally listening to their problems. Your child sees him as someone they can closely trusted.
❤︎ Nick genuinely loves your child like his own. He'd sacrifice himself without second thought, and he counts his lucky stars that you let him into their life.
❤︎ One time he even got your child their own detective outfit, promising them a job at the detective agency when they're old enough to do so. Calls them his little detective.
Piper Wright:
❤︎ Piper was already raising her little sister, so she was a little bit hesitant to add another child into the mix, but she couldn't deny the appeal of a family. She wants to do right, to be a good parent.
❤︎ Definitely a playful mom. Piper likes playing around with the child, joking around. She loves lightly tossing them in the air and catching them.
❤︎ Nick Valentine is the usual babysitter. Piper rarely trusts anyone else to take care of them, given her reputation as the reporter troublemaker. Enough people have it out for her, and they're not above harming her family. Maybe Nat babysits when she's a little older.
❤︎ Speaking of people wanting to harm her or her family, she always keeps a close eye on the child at all times if she can help it. She's too scared something will happen to them if she turns away.
❤︎ Nat plays with her little niece / nephew a lot. While you and Piper make dinner or unwind, Nat will mess around with the childs toys or playfight them.
❤︎ Piper loves taking the child with her to run errands throughout Diamond city once she's more comfortable. It always ends with Piper taking them to noodle stand. It becomes a ritual.
Porter Gage:

❤︎ Gage never wanted to become a dad. He wasn't the fondest of kids, raising them as a raider was nigh impossible and he already had enough of a target on his back from the Nuka world raiders as is. He wasn't happy when he found out about the fact he was gonna have a child, but he wouldn't ever abandon you.
❤︎ Immediately goes to pulling strings to try and keep you safe. Keeping an ear out for anyone thinking this is a good time to try and take you out while you're vulnerable. You're quite literally the only person he cares about, and he downright refuses to lose you over this.
❤︎ Gage expected to hate parenthood, to resent his child because he had to sacrifice so much to keep safe a baby he didn't even want. He also hated seeing you suffer through the entire process, risking your own health. But when the tiny little hands grabbed onto his finger for the first time he was a goner.
❤︎ Being a dad at first isn't his favorite. He has to fight tooth and nail to keep the baby from getting killed. The crying, messes and late nights aren't helping. Still he couldn't imagine leaving them behind. He wants the kid to succeed in the world and there's nothing he wouldn't do for his family.
❤︎ Begins to enjoy being a dad a whole lot more when the child is a bit older and can talk, doing more things on their own. Assuming it's possible, Gage enjoys taking the child to play the games around Nuka world whenever he has time off. The innocent laughter from his child makes him feel like he's doing a good job shielding them from the harsh realities of the world. As far as it's possible in a place filled with raiders.
❤︎ Still he can't let his child grow up soft and naive. He teaches the child everything he learned to survive. How to manipulate others in their favor, to use weapons, generally to survive in a harsh worlds. Also drills it into the kid never to play hero. He doesn't care how much others are suffering, he's not risking the only people he cares about.
Preston Garvey:

❤︎ Would fist fight an army of behemoths for his family no questions asked. He's a loyal minuteman, and a fiercely loyal dad and husband. He takes his job of protecting settlements even more serious for their sake. He'd die for his family, for the chance for his child to have a better future than he ever had.
❤︎ Whenever he feels hopeless he takes the child into his arms, sees their little smile, hears their little laughs. It makes it seem like everything he suffered through was worth it.
❤︎ Sometimes he puts his hat on the childs head. He'll look at you with a big smile, asking; "Hey babe, what do you think? Future general?"
❤︎ When the minutemen have secured an area, he'll let his child 'patrol' the area with him, complete with fake weapon and all. They're just proudly strutting after their dad, looking proud of themselves.
❤︎ Doesn't like being angry or stern with them. He knows he has to, it's a part of parenting. But seeing their little faces scrunch up with upset as they cry at a deserved scolding, he just feels like the scum of the earth. Poor guy has to fight to keep a straight face and now immediately hold them and apologize.
❤︎ When your child is a little older, Preston allows them to do jobs around the settlement for caps. He's very hesitant about sending them out as a soldier. He knows very well it's hypocritical, since he believes in dying for freedom. But the idea of his child becoming a martyr makes him feel ill.
Robert J. MacCready:
❤︎ MacCready already has Duncan, but his jaw still dropped when you told him the news. He was incredibly excited to have another child, but deathly afraid something would happen to you or the baby.
❤︎ Completely overprotective. You're not traveling anywhere, you're staying in a settlement or other type of home. He lost one love of his life, he refuses to lose another. He'll take up extra jobs close to you if he has to put extra caps on the table.
❤︎ Since he already had a child, he figured he was used to the feeling. But as soon as he got to hold his second bundle of joy, he actually broke down sobbing. Mixed feelings of guilt, love, joy and a hint of sadness. He also made a note to include Duncan in it as much as possible. He tells the older child that he's a great big brother, letting him hold his little half sibling as well.
❤︎ Spends as much time with you and the kids as possible. MacCready uses all the experience he gained with Lucy and Duncan to do things better for you and the new child. He's also incredibly paranoid. If the baby stops moving or breathing for a bit too long, he's up immediately to check on them, even waking up a lot faster than usual.
❤︎ If you live somewhere safe, he slowly becomes comfortable enough to take your child and Duncan out on little trips with dad. He'll teach them to use guns, life skills and how to stay safe. Also a massive sucker for play fights, he just becomes the kids' personal playground. It's not uncommon to find him laughing while trying to pin down one of the kids while they try to grab onto him. Sometimes reads them comics too. Just like Cait he might let them have a little sip of his whiskey if they ask nicely.
❤︎ He hates it when you or the kids are out of his sight, first of all. He dreads the day the kids leave home to make it on their own. If it were up to MacCready, they'd stay with him forever. Just about gets the worst case of empty nest syndrome and if it were up to him, he'd give them another sibling.
X6-88:
❤︎ X6-88 and parenting is a disaster waiting to happen. The courser has the emotional capacity of a wooden spoon, and absolutely zero fatherly instincts. Had a complete poker face the first time he held the child in his hands.
❤︎ Absolute pro at keeping the child safe, though. Nobody is getting close enough to the child to hurt them before they're shot down. Not that anyone really dares to try anyway, X6-88 is pretty intimidating as is.
❤︎ A bit harsh on punishments and discipline. He has trouble recognizing that he is dealing with a child, not a disobedient synth. He doesn't really understand that children are all emotion and impulse, and lack comprehension and logic. He just kind of stands there while the child is crying and upset.
❤︎ When he learns a bit more about how to deal with kids, he puts them on a healthy diets, trying to keep out rads and makes sure they don't get sick. Regularly takes temperature and checks for injuries they might have.
❤︎ Just like Danse, he finds training very important. He wants them to learn how to calculate dangers, how to fight back, what weapons work best against certain wasteland animals.
❤︎ Prefers to keep the child close to him. It makes no sense to him that children go off on their own when they're older. It doesn't logically make sense, the kid is saying close where he can keep an eye on things.
Old Longfellow: (Grandpa bonus)

❤︎ Longfellow never got to be a father, so when you walked into his life, it didn't take a heck of a long time for him to take you under his wing. When you eventually had a kid of your own, the old hunter softens up a bit.
❤︎ Kind of a 'dad with the cat he said he didn't want' scenario. Grumbles every time he 'has' to babysit, but secretly loves doing so. He'll sit by the fireplace in a chair with the child sitting on his lap, huddled up in a blanket.
❤︎ Just about has a heart attack whenever he loses the child for more than five seconds, fearing the harsh and dangerous island might get to them, only to find them playing near the water or something. Longfellow's response was try and build a fence around his cabin so they can't just walk off.
❤︎ Will not let them anywhere near the Children of Atom. As soon as one of their messengers breathe near the child, the old man is just about ready to start fight over it.
❤︎ Tells them stories about his youth when they go to sleep. He talks about all his hunting trips, about what kind of creatures he encountered and the game he brought back home.
❤︎ Your child does not like grandpa Longfellow's cooking. They can never, ever look at a Mirelurk the same again after having to eat so much jerky.

Obsessive Cleaning (FO4 Preference)
Fandom: Fallout 4 Request: x x Pairings: Danse x Reader, Hancock x Reader, MacCready x Reader, Nick x Reader, Preston x Reader.
Notes:
I included Nick because he should be romanceable.
Idk if manic cleaning is the correct term for this so I didn't use it because I didn't want to be offensive.
Zero uses of Y/N or Sole so you can decide if Reader is Sole or not.
Trigger Warning: Reader obsessively cleaning and neglecting their own needs.
Danse:
Danse wakes up to an empty bed and immediately heads out to find you. He discovers you engrossed in your task of cleaning and making repairs to Sanctuary, impressed by your attention to detail.
He joins in to help, using his military training to streamline the process and increase efficiency.
Danse appreciates your dedication to improving your surroundings and sees it as a reflection of your strong work ethic.
After a bit when he notices that you're showing no signs of slowing or even taking a a break, that's when Danse would intervene. He'd make sure you're okay and encourage you to at least stop long enough for food and water.
"Alright, soldier, you're no good to anyone passed out from hunger. Let's just sit over here and take a brief respite."
Hancock:
Hancock wakes up and immediately notices your absence. He follows the sounds of cleaning to find you fully immersed in your task, determined to make Sanctuary perfect.
He admires your dedication but worries that you're neglecting your own well-being.
Hancock encourages you to take breaks and assures you that Sanctuary already looks great.
He'd even join in once he realizes that you're probably not going to stop until you believe Sanctuary is as good as it's going to get. And he'd do his best to keep the mood light.
"Damn, sweetheart, you keep at it like this you'll make the rest of us look like a bunch of do-nothings. How about we take a quick...nap?"
MacCready:
When MacCready wakes to find you missing and sets out to locate you. He discovers you hard at work, fixing and cleaning various areas of Sanctuary with a determined expression.
He's impressed by your dedication but also concerned that you're pushing yourself too hard.
He offers to help and tries to convince you to take breaks, knowing how important it is to avoid burnout.
He admires your commitment to making Sanctuary a better place and supports you throughout the process, ensuring you take breaks and stay hydrated.
"Sweetie, you need rest...and breakfast. I promise this rubble will still be here in a couple of hours."
Nick Valentine:
Being a synth, Nick doesn't need sleep. He was, however, going over some information on a case he was working when he noticed faint noises. He decided to investigate and found you diligently working around Sanctuary.
He's intrigued by your hyperfocus and deduces that you won't stop until you're satisfied with the results.
Nick offers his assistance, impressed by the progress you've already made. You were cleaning up trash and rubble, recycling anything that could be repurposed.
He keeps an eye on your well-being, reminding you to take breaks as you work together to improve
"You're definitely impressive but unlike me you do need food and sleep. How about you take a break and while I finish up?"
Preston Garvey:
Preston wakes up in the middle of the night and notices your absence. Concerned, he sets out to find you and is surprised to discover you tirelessly cleaning and fixing things in Sanctuary.
He admires your dedication to helping others but worries that you're neglecting your own needs.
Preston offers to assist you and encourages you to take breaks and rest.
Preston appreciates your commitment to making Sanctuary a safe and comfortable place for everyone and supports you throughout the cleaning process.
"You know, you really are amazing. But even you need water to continue going, honey."

How would Piper, Nick, Cait, Deacon, and Hancock react to Sole being pregnant after a drunken one night stand who has a history of being a party girl and having a few hookups?
》I'mma crack my knuckles for this. Sorry, I've been distracted by Veilguard.
【Piper】 "I told ya this was going to happen."
Maybe it's a little heartless but she straight says she warned you, she even told you the almighty pull-out method and anal. As long as you're okay she can't say she minds. She'll run around with you to make sure the trouble you get into isn't too bad. And if it is she'll be there so it'll be like it was not a big deal. She's seen you bring the Commonwealth to it's knees so she's not too concerned.
【Nick】 "Well, full of surprises, aren't ya?"
He's going to make sure you stay in a settlement and take it easy, because if you don't he'll make you live at his place to keep and eye on you. He'll also see if he can find the father if possible, even gets Piper and Curie to help him. Also depending how old you are depends on how protective he is of the situation and how much free reign you'll get. God forbid this is a teen pregnancy, you'll never leave his sight. Being in your twenties means you're walking on this ice. But thirties means he'll keep an eye out but barely anything else.
【Cait】 "Fuck."
She's not very happy. The Commonwealth is a dangerous place for many reasons and having a baby is not safe, medically or for security. If you survive giving birth now you have a tiny human who needs constant care. She's going to help and that's not up for debate.
【Deacon】 "You wanna make bets on what it'll look like?"
He tries to deescalate the situation with jokes. Whether or not it does decides how he proceeds. If you find it funny he'll follow through on the joke and you'll go through all the people you've had sex with, even throwing in whether or not they were any good. If you don't find it funny he changes his course and asks if you wants to see a doctor. You know what that means.
【Hancock】 "Oh damn, we gotta baby-proof this place."
He immediately prepares for the baby to come. Normally he'd ask what you would want to do but he's so preoccupied with the fact his friend is growing a baby in her he forgets to do his usual 'there's no shame in abortion' thing. If you decides that he'll prepare for that but he's kind of in a panic the whole time. He scrambles to get things and honestly he can't say he minds, it's actually a nice change of pace.

Cait, Curie and Deacon react to sole acting like a player :
An idea from someone on Ao3.
I haven't reread it.
- Cait :
Sole was planted like a prick in front of Arthuro. No expression on his face, everything was linear, even when the wind was blowing hard into his neck. Cait looked at Sole with annoyance. She didn't know how to react to his inactivity. But it made her seethe inside, not seeing the point of staying like a piece of shit here in Diamond City.
" What are you doing there?" she asks, her arms crossed and her eyebrows knitting together.
- I'm waiting for Arthuro to get some new merchants.
- And how long do we have to wait ?
- As long as it takes," admitted sole, still linear at the robotic limit.
When she sees his stony expression, she sometimes wonders if sole isn't a synth. In a rage she goes far away to let off steam on nearby raiders.
It was only three days later that sole returned to Sanctuary Hill with everything he needed. Cait was still angry with sole. But she agreed to go with him anyway.
- Curie (from a bug in my console) :
Every time you try to change weapons, you stick a stimpak in your arm. Curie thought you were seriously injured.
" Madame are you injured ?
- What? No, of course not. I just want to change weapons.
- Oh I see, she whispered "
- Deacon :
It had been several hours since sole had moved, blinked or spoken. At first Deacon didn't pay any attention thinking sole was in their heads, like him sometimes. So he leaves their house for their privacy, leaving them standing like a leek in the middle of the living room with their feet up on the sofa (Deacon is a complete idiot!). The next morning he goes into the living room and sees sole again as he did yesterday afternoon. It was only then that he started to worry. He moved closer to sole, pulling his glasses down over his nose to get a better look. Nothing has changed on his screwing, the position of his body on the sofa, a statue he told himself. A long time ago he read a pre-war book about "the best world records". He thought that sole would do that. So he sat down on the seat opposite the sofa and watched, impatient for sole to stop.
A few hours later Sole comes back to life. Sole sees Deacon sitting on the seat opposite him, a bottle in his hand. On the small table to his right are two untouched glasses. Sole wonders if he is celebrating something. So Sole breaks the silence.
"We're celebrating something, Deacon," asks sole, completely lost.
- Finaly, exclaims Deacon, smashing the bourbon cork on the metal ceiling. I'm glad you've finally finished your super-realistic imitation of a statue. By smashing the world record, but when do we eliminate the institute, he asks, handing a full glass to sole.
This request drew a smile from Sole, who politely refused the glass.
" We're going now, Deacon, no time to lose.
- That's the sole I knew."
Thank to read it. My request are open.

Cold as Ice: Cait - Fallout 4
Cait & Sole Survivor, platonic.
Cait comes across a warehouse filled with chems and finds out Sole is the one responsible. Her reaction is rather rash.
TW/CW: References to addiction, chems, anger.
Word Count: 2.2+K
Inspired by @danses-with-dogmeat

A dull light easily broke through the branches as Cait made her way back to Sanctuary Hills from killing the small raider encampment to the North. Her shotgun hung loosely in one hand as the other stayed on the strap of her pack. Her thick red and white plaid flannel kept her warm, but even so, a cold wind was a powerful thing. Dry twigs and leaves crunched beneath her dirty, mud-splashed boots as one such wind whipped past her. It sent a shiver down her spine, reminding her of what she'd felt after withdrawals set in, but just barely so.
Cait tensed at the thought.
I ain't goin' through that shite again. I'm fine.
Taking a deep breath, Cait closed her eyes and centred herself before letting out the breath and opening her eyes.
It hadn't been that long since she'd been cured. Since you'd helped her get clean. The memories were still fresh, yet the urge was nowhere to be found. Still, the pain from the withdrawals was always the first thing to surface.
You'd said it was some form of PTSD.
Cait wasn't sure what that was even after you and Curie tried to explain it.
As the dark grey of her eyelids disappeared, Cait watched as a puff of wispy, white air twirled in front of her before disappearing.
As it faded, a building came into focus. It was off in the distance, but Cait could see it was cobbled together and unfinished.
"What the Hell?" She asked, mumbling to herself.
Cait frowned as she got closer. She slipped her free arm through her pack's other strap and handled her shotgun with both hands rather than the lazy one-hand position. Cait checked the chamber, ensuring she wasn't going in without ammo.
As she got closer, Cait realised it wasn't some random building and, while cobbled together, wasn't unfinished. The massive main door was just open. The tall, wide building looked like a warehouse she'd seen before, similar to Wicked Shipping Fleet Lockup, rusted, broken glass and all.
What the Hell is this doin' out here? Did Sole make it?
Cait keeps getting closer while keeping her shotgun up, ready for a fight.
Though it did seem like one of your constructions with its proximity to Sanctuary and Vault 111, Cait had been around these parts hunting and clearing things out for a while. Not even you, with your uncanny ability to build like a magician, could have erected such a massive building without Cait noticing. Not to mention, you hadn't been around for several days. You'd have gone to Sanctuary for supplies if this was what you were doing.
As she got closer, Cait heard nothing. Not the sounds of robots thumping around and guarding whatever is inside, not the humming of turrets or lights, not even the sound of raiders or bugs. The place was eerie and quiet, far too quiet to be normal.
The building itself was fine; it was just a little rusty and had broken windows. Otherwise, it seemed sturdy enough, perfect for raiders, animals, ferals, or even settlers.
As Cait climbed up on a ledge, she peered down at the short drop and thought to herself. If something's in here, should I risk letting it know I'm here for the sake of speed?
Shrugging, Cait jumped down with a slight thud. She exhaled as she crouched from the small jump before shooting back up; even with the small amount of noise she'd made, not so much as a radroach crept out. In fact, as she peered past the massive doors and into the warehouse, she saw dead ones strung up, cut into and torn apart.
Immediately, Cait went into cautious mode and aimed her shotgun around as she searched for any living thing.
Those roaches had to have had some interference. Without someone doing it, they wouldn't have been cut and strung up like that, dangling the length of the loading door.
Mentally, Cait began crossing things out.
Not super mutants. They don't come out here.
Can't be ferals or robots, either. Ferals would have ripped 'em a part where they lay dead, not string 'em up. Bots wouldn't give a damn after they're dead.
Settlers are out of the question. Maybe one or two would have been out here, but in that case, they would have gone to Sanctuary or Abernathy Farm. Those places are safer than some random building in the woods.
Raiders then? A new group, maybe? Fucking dumbarses would pick someplace close to a settlement.
Cait noticed something odd as she stepped through the door and under the roaches.
No, not more dead animals strung up. And no, not dead people.
What she noticed were boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. They were everywhere. On every shelf all the way to the top and in every corner. Some open and some not.
But other than the seemingly neverending amount of fucking boxes that are just everywhere, there wasn't much else. Not even a candle.
You could count the roaches, but they're in a halfway spot; therefore, they're off the table.
Cait allowed her shotgun to drop to her side and loosely held it again.
"What the fuck?"
She looked around, confused, and stared at the boxes of all shapes and sizes.
There were crates, ammo boxes, trunks, suitcases, lockers, file cabinets, cardboard boxes, and every other type of container and box you could possibly think of. There were even several coolers.
Speaking of which...
Still erring on the side of caution, Cait approached one of the boxes, well, not boxes, but containers. Specifically, a cooler sitting closed on one of the shelves. She looked around it, ensuring it wasn't trapped with a tripwire, bathroom scale, or anything of the like.
"Clean," she said to herself, nodding.
Despite nothing being attached, Cait still slowly lifted the lid. And, as she peered into the cooler, she scowled.
Silently, she moved to another container and opened it. Her scowl only grew. She moved to another and another and another. She even cracked a crate open, only to be met with the same thing every time. Well, not exactly, but it might as well have been.
And before you ask, no, there weren't body parts, animal or human/ghoul/whatever. No, nothing so simple. Instead, there were chems of every type and lots of them.
The place was a damn warehouse filled with chems, not even a 30-minute walk from where she lived.
Cait stepped away from the disgusting things, the things that had nearly killed her more than a few times, the things that had driven her into a massive hole so deep she couldn't get out alone.
She didn't know if she felt like throwing up or lighting this place up and letting it all burn away. This many chems all in one place? It was a junkie's paradise, but Cait wasn't one anymore, not after 95. You had made sure of that; you'd saved her.
I should tell Sole, Cait thought. They'd never allow something like this to exist.
Cait recoiled away from it all and backed up. As she turned to go back the way she came, she was met with the silhouette of someone. The person had set down a bag and picked up a clipboard, a can of water in their other hand.
If you were close enough, you could hear the woman growling as she found the creator of such a disgusting pile of shite. She stormed over to the person, seeing red and her trigger finger itching.
"Oi! Fuck face!" Cait shouted, getting the perpetrator's attention. "What the fuck is this?"
They turned, and Cait was greeted by the face of the piece of shite who did this.
And it was... you?
Cait slowed as she watched you slowly lower the clipboard and drink. Her mouth hung open, and she just stared.
You, the ever kind, ever caring Sole Survivor of Vault 111, were the one stockpiling dangerous and disgusting chems like Buffout and the shite that had nearly killed Cait, Psycho. The very same person who'd helped Cait through her withdrawals on their way to 95. The same one who'd saved her life a thousand times over. The same person who'd risked life and limb and their own mental wellness to lend a hand to her, to randos, and to everyone they came across. You were the kind of person to take time out of your day to play with kids and teach them things they never would have learned otherwise. Shite, you'd go tend to the sick whenever you could.
So, why? Why would you have such a massive stockpile of the worst sort of things? Alcohol, Cait could understand. And she could understand extra Med-X, the Radaway and Rad-X, and the Stimpacks, but everything else? The Buffout, Mentats, and, worst of all, Psycho? What could you be using that shite for?
Cait, in all her time knowing you, had never seen you take anything but stims on the fly. You always went to the doctor for help if you needed it. You had never self-medicated unless it was an extreme emergency, and there was no other choice.
Cait could still remember you talking her through the withdrawals and the fight in Vault 95. She could still feel you embracing her tightly and grinning after Cait was cured.
How could you? How could you throw all that away? How could you lie the way you did and pretend to be such a good person?
The questions merely infuriated Cait further.
"What the fuck is all this then?" Cait growled. "You got any sort of explanation for me?"
You simply raised an eyebrow, cool as a cucumber. Before you could speak, Cait stopped them.
"No, ya know what, I don't care. I don't give a singular fuck!" Cait pointed toward the door. "With that door open like that and no protection, it's obvious you're jus' fucking waitin' for some kid to come across this place and end up like me. It's fuckin' sick, Sole. This entire fucking place is sick!" Cait got closer, gripping her shotgun and glaring into your eyes. God, she wanted to blow your head off for this. "You are fucking sick. So, if you want to keep me around, you will get rid of all of this. And I mean, get rid of it, not just sell it to some poor soul. So, either these go, or I do."
To your credit, you didn't budge or interrupt. In fact, you seemed relatively unbothered by Cait blowing up at you.
As calm as ever, you slowly, without breaking eye contact, brought the can up to your mouth and drank from it. When you lowered it, your face made no change, no sign of hurt or even relief. You simply said, ice in your voice: "Then go".
The thing about you is, as kind as you are, you ain't the type to take people's shite, and you sure as Hell don't do ultimatums. If Cait wouldn't even let you explain what's going on here, you wouldn't give her the time of day. Simple as.
Cait paused momentarily as she stared at what she thought was her friend. But her shock was quickly overcome by anger. "You are a– Fuck you, Sole! Fuck you! I can't believe I ever trusted you," she spat out. Cait shoved you aside as she made her way past and back outside.

Back in Sanctuary, Cait stomped over the bridge between the island and the Northside. Dirt, leaves, and twigs fell as she stormed.
She mumbled to herself, mostly about you and the chems. For a moment, Cait had considered telling people about your stockpile of chems but decided against it. When Preston or Codsworth found out... Well, thinking about that gave Cait everything she needed.
The sun still beamed down. Even with the overcast, the day felt far too happy. Especially after the recent revelation of who you truly are—a drug-dealing piece of shite.
A few settlers pass Cait by as she scowls at the ground and walks back to her flat. They say nothing, too afraid of her to try.
•
In her flat, Cait looked around at the random stuff she'd gotten in her time with you. The teddy bear you had jokingly given to her. The weapons you had modded and named for her. The fresh clothes, bedding, and an actual bed had been given to Cait when she moved to Sanctuary proper. Codsworths' housewarming present: a new pair of boots Cait never wore, not wanting to ruin them. The jacket Curie had given her to keep her warm. And, of course, the Minutemen hat Preston had gifted Cait as a way of saying "thank you for everything you've done" and a "you're always welcome with us".
Despite feeling this emptiness inside, Cait refused to feel sorry for herself or fall back into that hole. No, you wouldn't do that to her.
Cait grabbed a few things and a bag, stuffing some things into said bag.
If you wanted to ruin everything you'd created, you could, but Cait wasn't having any of it.
