Separation anxiety
Fallout 4 companions really not liking being away from you, their partner - headcanons.
Slight triggers warnings for death and suicidal ideations.
A/n: Life isn't doki doki rn chat.
Cait:
❤︎ Cait doesn't like other people all that much. There's also not a whole lot of people like her, especially due to her selfish and often rude personality.
❤︎ At first she becomes angry with you. She doesn't understand why the hell you're leaving her behind. Did she finally upset you? Did her attitude push you away? Cait wants answers.
❤︎ Not above demanding to go with you. She finally has someone that cares about her, a decent life. She'll be hard to deal with the entire time
❤︎ Cait spirals back into some bad habits in your absence, even when she tries not to. She spends a lot of time at bars, drinking away her sorrows and worries.
❤︎ Generally becomes a big pain to deal with to other people. She snaps a whole lot more and becomes more anxious and irritated. She's stuck between being angry with you and missing you.
❤︎ Has no idea how to act when you come back. On one hand she wants to give you a smack upside the head and yell at you, on the oher she wants to just sink into your arms and not let go again.
Curie:
❤︎ Curie doesn't understand what she's feeling fully, but she absolutely hates it. It feels like a bucket of ice cold water has been poured directly over her synthetic heart.
❤︎ Handles a bit more mature than the other companions on this list. She keeps a cool head, but she's still grappling with the newfound emotions brought into the situation.
❤︎ Curie doesn't really think to argue, but pleads for you to reconsider. When she realizes it's futile, she just tries to prepare you for your trip. She packs you stimpaks, purified water and anything else she can find.
❤︎ Takes your absence hard. She finds herself near tears for the first time in her life. Nothing is comforting, she can't focus on her work for more than a minute before thoughts of you creep in again.
❤︎ Finds herself among the items you left behind. If you have a home in a settlement, she'll spend practically all her time there, moving all her research there.
❤︎ Frantically checks you for any injuries as soon as you step foot through the door. After all your wounds have been treated, and you settled in, she finally calms down.
Danse:
❤︎ Danse had everything stripped away from him. Even though he won't fully admit it, in his eyes you're his sole reason for existing, his purpose. He has gotten so used to being there with and for you that he can't imagine it otherwise.
❤︎ So when you tell him you have to part ways, he feels his heart sink. He was a Brotherhood Paladin, he thought he was above the feeling of insecurity that washes over him. He wonders if you changed your mind about keeping a synth around, not that he'd blame you.
❤︎ He won't fight you on it, even if he wants to. Instead putting on a brave face and wishing you good luck. He'll part with a tight hug, pleading for you to be safe, that he can't handle losing you.
❤︎ Nervous wreck the entire time. Part of him wishes he had just gone with you regardless. He keeps to himself most of the time, not really socializing and staying near your home.
❤︎ Goes through his entire training to try and keep his cool. He's never felt this kind of unrest in his life. He'll occupy himself by repairing his power armor over and over again, as well as physical exercise.
❤︎ The decorum goes somewhat out the window when you come back. Danse takes you into his arms, taking a moment to feel the comfort of your body against his again. Next time, he's coming with.
Deacon:
❤︎ Deacon's responses are cryptic and suspicious from the start. He doesn't fight you going, taking the hint when you say you have to go alone, but that's not the end of it.
❤︎ Deacon knows this game, having vanished on people, including you for the safety of everyone involved. Railroad work is rough, and the last thing he wants is to compromise your safety.
❤︎ That doesn't mean he's going to sit by idly, though. He's well aware he can't follow you himself. He's way too closely connected with you, and you'll definitely notice if he follows you. You know him too well for him to be able to pull that off.
❤︎ So he connects with every tourist and Railroad agent he can find. Preferably the ones you don't know as well. Every single move is tracked so he knows where you're at, ready to step in should the need arise.
︎ Deacon's behavior around other shifts only slightly. He'll keep up his usual appearances and antics, but he does seem a little more distracted than usual.
❤︎ Waiting on you when you come back. He casually welcomes you back with a hug and kiss, saying he knew that you'd make it home safe. But as soon as you turn your back on him, he breathes a sigh of relief.
Gage:
❤︎ Gage almost gets annoyed with how the news of you leaving upsets him. He tries to reason it's because you're the overboss, and the place would fall apart without you to lead it. But he can't deny the dull sense of panic welling up in him.
❤︎ This raider doesn't go without a fight. He'll become angry. He's your right hand man, he's supposed to stick by your side. He has no idea why he's acting like this. Last thing he wants is to put himself in needless danger. But he can't stand the thought of you walking out into the wasteland alone.
❤︎ Tries to come up with any rational conclusion he can find. He wonders if you are planning to turn your back on him and the raider gangs, he certainly feels betrayed by you leaving him behind. You'll have to firmly remind him that you're still the boss of him before he even considers backing down. Though that doesn't mean he appreciates you holding rank above his head.
❤︎ Struggles keeping the raider gangs together in your absence. At any given moment he feels like there's going to be a revolt, leading to his own death. Part of him resents you from putting him in this position.
❤︎ At his lowest point, he found himself sitting on your side of the bed, stroking his fingers over an article of your clothing. When he fully realized what he was doing, he tossed it aside, trying to convince himself you haven't affected him.
❤︎ When you come back, he keeps his feelings to himself as you deal with the leaders of the other raider gangs. But as soon as the two of you are alone. He gives you a scolding for leaving him behind, with you in the comforts of his arm.
Hancock:
❤︎ Hancock is the last person who wants to curb your freedom, but he's also keenly aware of the danger you're putting yourself in. You've made quite a name for yourself in the Commonwealth, and as his partner, you have an even bigger target on your back.
❤︎ He asks you what's going on. If you're in trouble with some gang he can find a way to make them either back off or disappear entirely. Goodneighbor can survive without him, he's not so sure about you, though.
❤︎ He'll get frustrated if you don't give him a straight answer as to whats going on, and you're better off just telling him how you feel. Just tell him exactly where you're going and what you're going to do, just so he knows where to find you.
❤︎ Reluctantly lets you go. He swears to himself that if you're not back at a certain time, he's going out himself to come looking for you and bring you home.
❤︎ Finds a lot of comfort in chems, obviously. He finds being sober rather unpleasant when he doesn't know where you are and if you're even alive, mentally beating himself up for letting you.
❤︎ Probably high as hell when you come back. He's not lucid enough to fully grasp that you're home alive. When he wakes up that night he immediately reaches out for you, praying your return wasn't a drug infused hallucination of what he wanted.
MacCready:
❤︎ MacCready lost someone he dearly loved, he can't bear the thought of it happening again. The mere idea of you going off without him there protect you, makes him sick to his stomach.
❤︎ Argues at first. He is angry, he wants to stay by your side. What's so important that you had to leave him behind? His voices raises and his voice begins to crack.
❤︎ Then begins the bargaining. He knows he can't force you, but dammit he needs you. He wouldn't be able to take it if he lost you as well. so just let him go with you just in case. You hired him to watch your back for crying out loud, why are you being so goddamn stubborn?
❤︎ Actually fighting to keep himself together in your absence. He drinks, smokes and tries whatever he can to calm himself down. He thinks of every horrible way you could die without him there to save you, and it kills him. He failed to protect his wife, and he can't stand not being able to protect you too.
❤︎ Just like Cait he is irritable and unsociable. He snaps at people, his attitude is even worse than usual. MacCready has absolutely zero patience and he feels he's gonna lose it at any given moment. Keeps to himself as much as he can. He's neck deep in denial with how much he lays awake at night, instinctively reaching out for you, only to realize you're not there.
❤︎ As soon as he sees you walking back to him, he's on you within seconds. His arms wrapped around you as he fights back a few tears of relief. He'll let his hands roam all over your body, letting the reality sink in that you're back safe. Just so you know, you're not going anywhere for the next few hours.
Nick Valentine:
❤︎ Thinks you've utterly lost your mind. Going out into the Commonwealth alone is something only people with a death wish do. Or those too confident in their abilities.
❤︎ Given his nature as a detective, he tries to get to the root of your decision. He'd rather be there to watch your back in case something happens. After all through his detective work he has seen the absolute worst of the wasteland.
❤︎ Part of him wonders if you're concerned about him breaking down. It doesn't really matter to him, he would rather lose a limb or two than lose you.
❤︎ Just like Hancock he wants to know exactly where you are going, why and who you might be with. It helps him calculate the dangers. Worst case scenario, he'll know exactly where to start looking if you go missing.
❤︎ Takes on more cases to distract himself, convincing himself you're smart enough not to take stupid risks. Though his deduction skills are greatly reduced as he is occupied with worry for you.
❤︎ Stands at the entrance to Diamond city when you come back. Turns out he stands out by the gate every evening to see if you come back. He'll welcome you with a kiss to the forehead, wrapping an arm around you to pull you close.
Piper:
❤︎ Part of Piper feels annoyed that you're leaving her out of your adventures. She doesn't need to be protected, she can handle herself just fine.
❤︎ Like Nick Valentine, she wants to find out exactly what's going on. Nothing should warrant you leaving her in the dark, or behind for that matter.
❤︎ Doesn't willingly let you go, but doesn't actively prevent you from going. She is worried to death that something will happen to you. That you'll get taken out by raiders, super mutants or god forbid the Institute. Hell, she thought a synth might have replaced you. The real you would never leave her behind!
❤︎ As soon as you're gone, just like Deacon, she begins to dig. She tries getting Nick to help her out with tracking you. She'll be two steps behind you if she can. And if she can't follow you, she'll try getting informants.
❤︎ She feels bad about stalking your moves, but she needs to know why you left her at home. And if you're safe. She can't help how nosy she is. If you bit the big one she'd never recover.
❤︎ Once she hears you're on your way back, she makes you promise to never ditch her again. She also wouldn't complain if you bought her a drink as compensation.
Preston:
❤︎ You aren't just Preston's partner, you're his hero. You're the general of the minuteman, you brought his whole reason to live back. He truly sees you as a knight in shining armor.
❤︎ Last thing he wants is for you to end up like General Becker. For the minuteman to end up like they did after he died. Last thing he wants is to lose the person who was always there for him, his closest friend and his partner.
❤︎ As your loyal right hand man, he respects you greatly, and he doesn't want to fight you on this, even as he feels his heart go numb with fear.
❤︎ The minutemen heavily relies on you, he relies on you. He can't handle it if his world comes crashing down on him a second time, if he had to lose everything he thought for, and the person he loved more than anything.
❤︎ Tries his damned best to make you proud by keeping things going. He has some minutemen keep their ears open and report back any news on you. Keeping everything you fought together to build running brings him a bit of comfort.
❤︎ Actually sheds a tear or two when you come home safe, clutching you to his body as he buries his face in your hair. It feels like he can breathe again, and he takes an evening off so you two can spend time together.
X6-88:
❤︎ X6-88 doesn't fully understand why you wouldn't want the help of him, an Institute courser. Surely it would be a lot safer and easier if you just took him with him.
❤︎ He takes the order without a fight, just with a few questions as two why he can't join you, and when you'll be back. He makes you agree that if you haven't returned on the agreed date and location, he'd come looking for you himself.
❤︎ The synth isn't good with emotions, greatly lacking most of them. The dull sting in his chest isn't something he thinks deeply about. Instead he pushes the physical discomfort away and continues his duties as usual.
❤︎ He finds himself checking the approaching date of your scheduled return over and over again, calculating the time you had left before he would assume something had happened.
❤︎ When more than a couple minutes ticked past your supposed return, he was more than ready to start a full on search for you through the Commonwealth.
❤︎ Told you not to keep him waiting as soon as you returned. Outwardly he looked just the same, but he wondered why that ache in his chest had stopped.

Hello! May I request fallout 4 companions (Nick especially) with Sole who shares the bare minimum of information about themselves? Not because Sole doesn’t trust them, they really enjoy theirs companions company. Perhaps they busy themselves so they don’t have to think about all the little and big things they miss. (I bet Codsworth would find pristine things that Sole would miss (like a favorite movie, vinyl, or comic?))
Sorry if its not something you’re interested in doing right now. The ask kinda came out as a ramble, I’m lacking sleep haha. Thanks again for considering my request!
》Honestly one of my favorite kinds of characters.
【Cait】 She doesn't appreciate it. Her contract was traded to some random weirdo who barely says anything. It took three days before the topic of your name came up. And two weeks to know what you were looking for, who. But in return you don't ask what she does on her own time or what she's done. It feels like you don't mind rather than you don't care and that makes her feel seen. It stays between you unsaid in her eyes.
♡If romanced she doesn't push for any information. You'll tell her if it's important. People think it's weird the two of you to not share about yourselves like normal people but you're happy, that's all that matters.
【Codsworth】 It's just like it was before. He, unlike the others, already knows you. He knows you very well. Not only did you do an intake for daily preferences but he also served you for a few years. While you're out and about you'll do something or say something that sounds like no information to others or out of context and he'll answer, "Just as I was thinking as well." While you camp with some of the other companions he does chores the way you like without needing to ask, making comment on recent events, which makes them jealous for sure. He digs up things from the house he preserved or found and fixes them up brand new before presenting it to you. Songs you liked or wanted to hear. Movies and shows and comics. Clothes pressed for you and the furniture is redone the way it used to be. He knows you and wants to keep it that way.
【Curie】 Low-key doesn't care. She has one thing on her mind and that's her own goal to better medicine. Finding things to do that is all she needs of you. When she goes to be a synth her feelings overwhelm her and you guide her through that. She's never ever asked about you. She'll tell you about what she's feeling but never thinks to ask what you feel. In her defense, is doesn't understand the nuance of social interactions. And to her credit, it works for the both of you.
♡If she's romanced she realizes she wants to know what you feel and if it's the same as her. She's mostly interested in what you feel now rather than what your opinion is in the past or isn't currently relevant.
【Danse】 Right away he doesn't care for it. A mercenary who talks very little can be dangerous. But you followed orders well and are a damn good shot. The way he asks is more like demanding. It was all for a vetting process but still rude. After the intake he didn't care about your lack of openness. Didn't matter to him personally. After BB he suddenly regrets not knowing you. He was so rude and dismissed you as another faceless soldier and you saved him, from the Brotherhood and himself. Now he wants to know you.
♡If romanced he makes effort to know you, like really know you. For a long time he refused individuality so his own sense of self is not great. But you know yourself and make no attempt to hide it. You are so sure of yourself you don't need to explain. That's one of the things he loves about you.
【Deacon】 He thinks you're like him, that you want to hide in plain sight. As much as he gives that to you he's nosy as fuck and takes every chance to learn about you, mostly from afar. It doesn't take any time at all for him to realize you'll just tell him. Most of them are one word answers. It takes him even less time after that to realize you'll comment on things from before the war especially.
♡If romanced he goes out of his way to show you stuff. Old posters and toys. If you follow my headcanon that he's pre-war, he makes old references and generally adds comments on things to bait your answers.
【Hancock】 He thinks it's pretty cool. "Oh, tall, dark, and handsome/beautiful." He does play twenty questions with you 24/7 and is very happy with your half-answers because an answer is still an answer. Plus he knows at least two other people like you. He is the one who figures out that you just don't have the time or think about talking about yourself rather than purposely keeping secrets the fastest. He knows people so he knows better.
♡If romanced he plays with it. You want a kiss? Tell him what's your favorite color. He'll get on his knees if you tell him what you like about your new home. But honestly he'll do it anyways. All he needs to know is that you want him like he wants you.
【MacCready】 He was more concerned about you putting a bullet in his head while his back was turned. Everyone in the Commonwealth was looking out for number one. So imagine his surprise when you were looking out for your number one and it wasn't you. Not only were you looking for your son but you stopped to help every person who asked for help. Your actions spoke to him in a way your words, he figured, couldn't. You didn't need to help him but you did. You didn't take the caps back. And you killed the gunners the second they turned their guns on him even when they said their beef wasn't with you. It was what you did, not what you told him.
♡If romanced he will ask things. Basic ones are like, "How was your day?" Normal questions that are the peak of domestic life. Then the more personal things. Some sound silly, "What's your favorite color?" But most build off of a quick thing you said in passing, "Wait, you've been to California? What was it like?" He trusts you'll tell him the truth.
【Nick】 As a private detective this simply won't do. He gets it at first, you just need him to find your son, it's business. However, you want him to stay with you after that. It confuses him because you made no indication you like him in the slightest way. He's the second fastest to realize you're not keeping to yourself on purpose. As one of the only ones who are pre-war he's able to get things the others can't. He'll talk about things and give his options and bait you into answering it. That was a common way to get people to talk back then when you were trying to be polite and keep up the conversation, even if the conversation stays a bit thin.
♡If he's romanced he makes fun of the fact you forget to say things about yourself. Don't get it wrong, he makes it clear you don't need to share. He's just poking fun.
【Piper】 This simply won't do. She asks as many question as they come up but she gets depressing short answers. You either give one word answers or say you're not really in the mood, on some occasions you admit you don't know, you never thought about it. It takes a long time for her to stop and that's only because the questions start getting old. And you still feel like a mystery even though you've told her everything.
♡If she's romanced she realizes how much you've told her and pushes it. What is your type? How do your lips feel? Why do you look so good? It becomes playful and light, never serious.
【Preston】 In the beginning he didn't realize he didn't know much about you. He took your help selfishly to get him and his people back on stable ground but you told him you were happy to help. So he takes time to learn about you and give you everything he could possibly help you with. In hopes you would share by yourself he gives things to you without any prompt. It doesn't really work most of the time.
♡If romanced he asks things with hearts in his eyes. He is so lovesick he takes all of your half-answers and files it away in his mind. It hardly matters at that point.
【X6】 It wasn't his mission so he didn't care. You owed him no explanation or justification. Doesn't mean he doesn't question you. He asks why you helped someone, why you stopped for a distraction. And of course you give short answers like, "They needed help." or "I wanted to." Later, after the Institute is gone, he sees how you carry yourself and tries to copy it. Obviously he can't so you help him too. You showed him he can figure himself out by himself and he didn't need you. So he held the same opinion; he doesn't need to know you like that.
♡If romanced he's still comfortable with you keeping things to yourself. It's only after months of being together do you realize he's never asked you a personal question, that you've never shared anything that personal. When you bring that to him he tells you that hardly matters. But seeing you make the effort after that gives him a feeling he can't describe. It's a good feeling he thinks.

Hi! Can I have the non-human companions' reaction to a male sole that is very protective of them? Like if they're at a bar and someone shouts "get out of here freak/bucket of bolts/etc" he's beating the crap out of them immediately and when he's done he just goes back to the said companion and is all caring like "are you ok? Do you need anything?" Djdjfnfnejjr p l e a s e I've had this idea for so long
Non-human companions will always have a special place in my heart (especially Hancock because characters from Goodneighbor will always be superior to me), so this ask is really fun! Besides, I'm pretty sure every Hancock or Valentine fan has sided against the Brotherhood just for this reason. Also I have a feeling I could be missing someone, since I almost forgot Codsworth and Strong, so please let me know if I am, I can just add them on lmao
//
Non-Human Companions React to M!Sole Being Protective (Includes: Curie, Codsworth, Hancock, Nick, Strong and X6-88)
Curie She insists that Sole didn't have to go to all that trouble for her, she understands that some people are bound to dislike her simply based on her appearance and although that can be disheartening, she's come to accept it. She's a little shocked by how Sole reacts, he's never been particularly violent if he can help it, but it's more how quickly his mood changes afterwards when he goes to check on her that catches her more off guard than anything. She can't help but feel touched by the gesture though, it's nice to know that there's someone willing to look out for her.
Codsworth The Commonwealth is a lot different than it was 210 years ago, Codsworth still remembers the days when people would clamour at the opportunity to have their very own Mr. Handy. Now, all he seems to be is target practice or scrap metal to the inhabitants of the wasteland. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean he's immune to how some people tend to treat him. While Sole's act of violence is quite concerning to him, Codsworth does find himself grateful that his old friend is willing to defend him against the abuse he's become accustomed to. Codsworth assures Sole he's fine and insists that he doesn't cause so much ruckus on his behalf, but he will make a point to thank him profusely for caring, even if he is just a robot butler.
Hancock While Goodneighbor is more than welcoming to people from all walks of life, Hancock isn't blind to the treatment of his kind outside the walls. He'd seen it with his own brother in Diamond City and Hancock wishes that he'd fought as hard for the exiled ghouls as Sole had just fought for him. The name calling doesn't bother him, really, he's heard it all before and he can handle himself. What catches him off guard is Sole beating the bigot that had insulted him to a pulp. He does figure that Sole might owe him one, considering Hancock had handled Finn for him the day they'd met. Still, he assures Sole that he's fine and clarifies that he can fight his own battles, not that the show Sole had put on wasn't entertaining to watch.
Nick Valentine Being around as long as Nick has, he knows what people think of his kind and sometimes it can be hard to blame them. The Institute are dangerous and they've taken countless lives for their own selfish gain, even though it's not his fault he has to walk around looking like their poster boy, he can understand why people might take out their frustration on him. Of course, that doesn't mean he isn't quick to bite back to defend himself. On this occasion though, Sole was quicker and much more vicious and Nick had barely managed to comprehend what had just happened before Sole was back at his side asking if he was okay. Nick was fine, as usual, and only might a slightly irritated remark about Sole using his words next time rather than his fists, before thanking him.
Strong He doesn't really understand the insult being thrown at him and, although he definitely will try to join in, he isn't too sure as to why Sole is attacking a random civilian. Once Sole has made sure that Strong is okay - which, of course, he is - and once he's explained what had just happened and why, Strong isn't particularly bothered, he knows Super Mutants are the superior race, the comments of a "puny human" won't change that.
X6-88 A snide remark from a worthless scavenger means absolutely nothing to him, but apparently it means a lot to Sole, who doesn't hesitate to give the scavenger a beatdown and make him apologise to X6. He decides to wait, rather impatiently, for Sole to be done, before asking that he doesn't cause such a scene again for something so meaningless. Deep down though, Sole knows that's his way of saying thank you.

Fo4 Companions (+Sturges, DiMA, and Travis) Living At Homeplate With Sole
➼ Word Count » 1.3k ➼ Warnings » Spoilers in DiMA’s section and slight spoilers (?) in Mac's
MacCready makes the roof trailer thing on the top of the house look all nice, decorating it with posters and lights and such. He likes to sit up there and just watch people go about in the market. It calms him down a lot. He wants to bring Duncan to come live with you and Shaun. He's pretty easy to live with, aside from him getting into a few altercations with the people from the upper stands.
Nick likes living with you because it allows Ellie to have her own place. The biggest problem is having Myrna as your neighbor. She's gonna constantly complain to security about Nick living right next to her. But besides that, Nick is great to live with. He'll get himself a chair and put it in one of the corners, like one of those designated 'dad' chairs. Lots of stories from his cases too that he'll be glad to tell you and he likes to keep the place neat.
Cait is honestly just happy to have someone who actually wants to live with her. It means so much to her so she'll try to be the best roommate she can. You need groceries? She's got it. Had a long day and want to get a drink? She'd gladly be your drinking buddy. Someone's giving you trouble? Let her get her bat. It's a huge sentiment in itself that you trust her as much as she trusts you and she'd never take it for granted.
Danse feels awkward. You'll have to force him out of his comfort zone a bit, and he's horrible at decorating but other than that he's great to have around. Having such a large guy is great for home security and he's willing to go with you wherever you want so you'll hardly find yourself alone. Danse doesn't think that the other citizens like him too much, and he's right, but you still try to help him to be more approachable.
Preston is always out doing something. It's rare for the two of you to be at Homeplate at the same time due to how busy the two of you can get. When he is home he tends to the different plants he managed to start growing on the roof and inside. It makes the place look very lively and a lot less wasteland-like.
Cleanest house in all the commonwealth?? Codsworth will make it his life's mission to have the best holiday decorations on the block, even if no one else understands what it is. It'll almost feel like a pre-war house with how sanitized he makes it. Whenever you leave to do a quest he'll cook something up for when you come back. He's kinda like a housewife in that sense. Since he doesn't sleep he'll hang out with Percy during the night and then come back and help you out in the morning.
If Piper’s coming, Nat's coming. It'll allow her to turn her old home into more of a workplace than it is now. You'll get the newspaper for free too. Piper probably won't do too much around the house besides keeping it somewhat organized, however, she likes taking you and Nat up to the roof to look at the stars, or watch the sunrise or anything like that. It makes her feel at peace and she just thinks it's a great time overall.
Curie doesn't really need sleep, so at night, if she's bored, she'll just start to organize and clean everything. She was so excited when you told her she could live with you. She takes notes on everything she sees in the marketplace and about the people she meets. Over time she'll end up being great friends with those scientist ladies and even Dr. Sun.
You're gonna also have a big problem with Myrna since Strong is constantly threatening Percy. Security isn't gonna like your new roommate either so be ready for a whole lot of complaints from everybody. On the plus side, Strong makes it so no one wants to go anywhere near your house, so no one trying to break in :)
If Hancock stayed, it'd most likely be temporary, he much prefers Goodneighbor. Although he loves harassing the rich people up in the stands and especially McDonough. Hancock would be all over Diamond City if he started staying at Homeplate. You'd find him in the bars, making friends with the poor people near the wall, or arguing with the guards. At the end of the day he's going back to his town, he really can't stand Diamond City for much longer than a few days.
Deacon feels really weird about it. He's never stayed anywhere for more than a couple of weeks at most. Even the Railroad HQ switches every now and then. Most people are going to love him due to how charismatic he is. In fact, most people will think you just invite a different friend over every week due to all of his disguises and persona's he'll still play. He’s going to have a ridiculous amount of clothes because of that and he'd gladly let you borrow them if you ever needed. This is a huge step for him and he really wants it to work out, although, try not to worry if you notice he’s disappeared.
X6-88 hates it. He doesn't understand why you don't just live in the Institute. He thinks that Diamond City is dirty and contaminated and is constantly looming over you, threatening anyone who gets too close. The only good thing about living at Homeplate would be that it's easier to gather information and spy for the Institute.
As long as Dogmeat gets a bed and a bowl then he's happy. He likes to wander around the city a lot. You'll catch him just sniffing around the alleys, usually looking for Nick or delivering papers for Piper. He loves living in Diamond City and loves that he gets to be around so many friendly people!
Old Longfellow refused when you offered. He much prefers his cabin in Far Harbor and wouldn't ever live somewhere as busy as Diamond City.
Gage will go wherever you do. You're the boss, and if this is where you're gonna stay then he'll be right behind you. The two of you are most likely going to be thrown in prison tho since Gage has a habit of shooting anyone who bad-mouths you. Homeplate's going to be a pig sty as well, bro can’t clean to save his life.
In all honesty, Sturges would be a great roommate, he'd set up the power for the both of you and try to make Homeplate feel a little homier. He'd be making bank too, the citizens would be paying him to help set something up or to fix something that broke. He’d be the new handyman while you went out and did quests.
DiMA thought it'd be good to go down to the Commonwealth again to do more research. He'd definitely struggle to fit in and would most likely try to find a way to assassinate Mayor McDonough to create peace like how he did with the Children of Atom and Far Harbor. He's happy to be able to live close to his brother but it's probably best to leave him in Acadia.
Travis is pretty happy to finally get out of his small one-room trailer and into Home Plate. He likes being able to walk over to the radio shack, it makes the gig start to feel like a real job. The best thing about living with Travis is that he's VERY organized. Nothing will ever be out of place. Living in his old place has taught him how to keep things clean and put away, so you'll find that Home Plate is seemingly never out of order. The only real downside, in his opinion, is the number of new neighbors he suddenly has, sometimes he doesn't want to leave the house in fear that they'll try and talk to him.

if you're still doing requests, can you do confession prompt 1 or 17 with x6? maybe set right after sole blew up the institute with the railroad
*You chose some good prompts, I used both because I thought they worked so well together!!*
"I can't pretend anymore."
"For years I have yearned for you, in secrecy and silence."
~~~~
Sole didn’t want this responsibility. When they woke up from cryo sleep, alone in the vault they never imagined themselves here. Standing in front of the button that would change the world forever. Sole raised their hand, hovering it over the button, staring out over at the institute. Shaun’s work, their son’s work. If someone told Sole, that they would be destroying years of work created by their son, Sole would have called them crazy. But here they were, their time in the commonwealth had changed their mind. Sole had worked with so many people, seen so many lives altered because of the institute. The Railroad had helped open Sole’s eyes to the damage the institute had done, it was challenging the face the truth but Sole couldn’t deny it any more. As much as it hurt to say goodbye to their son and the work he made, Sole had to do it.
Sole took a quick glance to their right looking at X6-88. He was one of the only good things to come from the institute. He had been with Sole for so long, travelling by their side, fighting Sole’s fights when he didn’t have to. No matter what Sole did he stood by their side, and Sole loved him for that. He was a very stoic person, but Sole could see it, the smallest amount of pain evident on his face as he watched Sole’s hand over the button. He was silently begging them not to do it. Sole never wanted to hurt X6-88, they know he cares for the institute, they are his family. But Sole couldn’t stop, not now, not after everything they had been through. Sole sighed and pressed the button. Seconds later the institute exploded, destroyed forever. Sole took a few seconds to stare at the fiery blaze in the distance, then turned to X6-88.
“X6?” Sole asked, their voice barely a whisper.
“You haven’t just destroyed your son’s legacy; you’ve destroyed all hope for mankind.”
“I’m sorry you feel like that X6, it was a really hard choice for me. I didn’t just do this on a whim. I spent months deliberating this decision. It was hard but it was the right thing to do for the commonwealth.” Sole explained.
“The commonwealth is full of people too blind to see the institutes help, or too ignorant to accept it. We could have done so much good.” X6 didn’t appreciate Soles words. Although he didn’t think there was anything sole could say to make the situation better.
“The institute has been around for years and people were still scared of it. I think if they were going to do good, they would have done it by now.” Sole crossed, then uncrossed their arms. They didn’t want to look defensive or aggressive.
“Science takes time. Everyone knows that, but everyone just refuses to truly acknowledge it. The institute could have made great changes, and with time people would have come around to it. But you. You took that chance away from us.” X6 turned his back on Sole.
“If it wasn’t me, it would have been someone else. No one liked the institute, no one was going to accept it. I’d be happy to give you some time to process this X6, but I hope you come to realize I made the right decision.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive you for this. It may be best that we part ways.”
Sole was hurt, they didn’t want X6 to leave. Sole was hoping he would stick by their side through everything like he had done in the past. But sole understood, they understood that the institute was a big part of X6’s life and it was going to take a while for him to accept its demise.
“I understand. I’m sorry that this has to come between us. But I want you to know X6 that no matter what I will always consider you a friend. And I’ll be here for you. If or when you become ready you can find me, and we’ll travel again.” Sole smiled, pouring a small part of their heart out. Sole almost wanted to confess their feelings, but felt it was the wrong time.
“I doubt I’ll come back.” X6 said, in his usual monotone voice, then left. The words cut deep and Sole buckled, their knees hitting the floor. Sole understood his pain, but they hoped he was wrong and that he would be back. Sole cried, terrified that those may have been the last words X6 would ever say to them. Sole begged that they wouldn’t be.
Weeks went by, and X6 had kept to his word, staying far away from Sole. Sole hoped that maybe they would spot him wondering around the commonwealth and they could beg for his forgiveness. But they could never find him. After destroying the institute Sole went back to the Railroad and told them it was done, they celebrated and applauded them. Sole thought they would be happy to receive the recognition, this was something they had been working on for so long. But instead, they just felt sad and angry. The railroad cheered, while Sole sat in silence mourning the loss of their friend. If Sole knew that ending the institute would result in losing X6, they would have thought harder. Maybe Sole wouldn’t have done it. Sole ran over their last conversation with X6 over and over again. They thought about all the things they would have done and said differently. Sole would have begged X6 to stay, Sole would have blocked his exit and pleaded for forgiveness. But now he was gone, Sole had lost him and he was never going to come back. The Railroads happiness pissed Sole off, so they left and cut contact with the faction. The Railroad didn’t care about X6, they didn’t understand Sole’s feelings on the matter so Sole left them behind. Instead, Sole wandered the commonwealth picking up odd jobs and just tried to stay busy. They wanted things to take their mind off X6, but nothing could. Every time sole got into a fight they wanted X6’s support. When they found a new location sole waited for some emotionless comment from X6 about how he didn’t care for it. Sole missed X6.
After a few weeks Sole wound up on a deserted beach. The ocean a sick green color. The sand and rocks littered with broken building pieces, and trash from the world before. Sole found an abandoned fishing boat washed up on the shore. They slowly stalked towards it, admiring the way the rotted wood barely clung together. Sole waited, wanting to hear a comment from their loyal companion. But nothing came.
Sole began to cry, yearning for x6, begging the gods, the world, space, just anything and everything. Begging something to bring X6 back to them.
“It’s a waste, that such valuable resources are just sitting here rotting away.” Came a familiar monotone voice. Sole snapped around and spotted him. X6, standing right before them staring at them. Sole discreetly pinched themselves, unable to believe their eyes.
“X6.” Sole was about to begin spouting off a million apologies. They had a long speech planned in their head that they practiced in case they ever saw X6 again. But he stopped them, silencing sole by raising his hand. Sole stood in silence, watching X6. He sighed heavily then stepped closer to Sole.
“I can’t pretend anymore.” He said, then gently took one of Sole’s hands in his own. “For years I have yearned for you in secrecy and silence.”
Sole’s heart skipped a beat, their whole-body filling with warmth. X6 held Sole’s hand anxiously as if he might break it. He looked at the hand, then back up to Sole’s face. X6’s face stayed the same, expressionless. He took off his sunglasses and looked into Sole’s eyes, this was one of the biggest moments of his life and he wanted it to be personal and special.
“At first, I didn’t know what I was feeling. It took a while for me to figure out that I was falling in love with you. I kept it a secret, as I thought it was inappropriate. We were working together and as I was a synth and you a human, I thought it would never work. I didn’t want to say something in fear that you would not feel the same, and I may lose you. But after losing the institute I was angry, and frustrated that you did not listen to me or my concerns. It felt as though you made your decision with no regards to me, and that you did not care about me. I thought that in leaving I may be able to detach myself from you and these feelings would go away. But I was wrong.” X6 gently squeezed Sole’s hand. Sole squeezed back, silent tears falling down their face as they listened to X6 empty his heart out to them.
“I thought about you the entire time I was gone. I tried to force you out of my mind, I tried to ignore the way I felt about you. But I couldn’t. You are the greatest person I have ever met, you are so kind, so generous and truly incredible. You cared for me as if I was more person than synth, you showed me kindness I had never been shown before. And these few weeks without you, realized that I could never continue living without you. I need to be by your side, if you will take me.” X6 stopped talking and waited for Sole’s reply.
“Oh X6.” Sole threw their arms around X6, embracing him into a tight hug. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry I did it, and I hurt you. Please, please don’t leave me again. I missed you so much.”
X6 was unsure what to do in the moment, he had never experienced this before. What felt right was hugging back, so he wrapped his own arms around Sole and pulled them against him. He buried his face into the crook of their neck and kept himself there just listening to Sole’s sobs. After a few minutes Sole stopped crying, they pulled away and held X6’s face in their hands.
“I love you X6. I need you to stay with me. I’ve missed you so much.”
“And I you.” This was the happiest X6 had ever felt. He was worried Sole would not reciprocate, but they did. This made X6 regret leaving, he should have expressed his feelings sooner, and not wasted weeks without Sole’s attention and companionship. But he promised himself he was going to make that time up. He was going to stick by Sole’s side, and never leave again. X6 copied Sole’s action, taking their face in his own hands.
“I love you too Sole. I’m not used to any of this, there is a lot I need to learn about my own feelings and how to work a relationship. But I want to learn it all with you, I want you to show me it all.” X6’s voice was different, it was soft, true and full of love. Sole nodded.
“Then let me show you this.” Sole gently pulled X6’s face towards their own, connecting their lips with his. X6 enjoyed the sensation. Sole’s lips were soft and warm upon his own, it was a feeling he never wanted to end. He could keep his lips upon Sole’s forever. Sole pulled away, too soon in X6’s opinion. Yet he let them.
“May we do that again?” He asked.
“Yes, of course we can.” Sole leant in again. X6 never expected it to feel so good, he was looking forward to figuring everything out and experiencing a loving relationship with Sole.
Hey hello it's the fallout anon! Could I request some confession/relationship headcanons with X6 and a female SoSu? Because I'm salty Bethesda robbed us of that lol
Sure thing!I really wish we could romance X6 :(((
•X6 is a stranger to the idea of love. He never thought he could be capable of loving somebody else, or that is deserving of love at all. He has always seen himself as an asset for The Institute after all
•He hides his feelings for so long, ashamed of them. But when Y/N confesses, he can't lie to them. He never would. "Ma'am...please remember who I am. I am here to serve you and the institute...I am merely a synth. Even then, I feel the same"
•Y/N is the leader of the institute now though...She is in a position to actually change the rules...And he likes her too much to not give into the temptation
•He is very protective of her, even more so than before. He is supposed to be her bodyguard after all. He won't let anyone get close at all
•X6 isn't very touchy or cuddly. Too much affection can stress him out at first. He needs a while to open up and be comfortable with all of this, since it's new to him
•Later on though, he has a really soft spot for cuddling, especially being the big spoon, loving how he gets to hold his dear Y/N in his strong arms
•He doesn't like visiting the Commonwealth very much, as he feels like the Institute is way more secure. When Y/N takes him along on her travel, he always insists on keeping guard at night while she sleeps, just in case
•He secretly likes animals, and now that he can be open about his feelings, he isn't as ashamed to show it. He always pets Dogmeat when he sees him and may even smile a bit. He won't admit it though!
•He is not generally cheesy or romantic, but for some reason, sometimes he just has his moments, especially after a dangerous mission "My beloved...Just know that, I will always stand by your side. No matter the consequences I must endure. I will always protect you"
•He likes picking his s/o up and carry her bridal style!He will try to turn anything into an excuse do it. Seriously. "Wouldn't want you to get wet in that puddle ma'am" "I could have just...walked around it?" "...No"
Fo4 Companions and their Love Languages
Words of Affirmation
- Curie was locked in her cage for god knows how long, and really just wants to impress you. So when you say nice things to her, she gets all giddy.
- Deacon doesn’t like getting close to people, but he really enjoys your company. So when you tell him how you appreciate him, it really hits home.
- Hancock is like, lonely. Bless him, he doesn’t really have a lot of people around him, other than his citizens. It’s just nice to hear appreciation from someone who truly cares.
Acts of Service
- Cait doesn’t feel that she deserves good people in her life. So doing things to help her, no matter how small, she appreciates so deeply.
- Codsworth was literally built to please.
- Preston A SETTLEMENT NEEDS YOUR HELP-
Gift-Giving
- Maccredy grew up really poor, so any time he receives gifts, he’s a very happy bunny rabbit. Literally healing his inner child.
- Strong like shinny thing.
- Gage, much like Maccready, grew up with nothing, so he likes to receive gifts. It’s also how he shows his appreciation and love.
Quality Time
- Nick feels comfortable when he is with you. You stop the random memory flashes, the fear of people judging him, and you make him happy. That’s all he needs.
- X6 isn’t really sure how to express his emotions. He has never been allowed to. So just being in your presence has helped him get a good start.
- Ada feels lonely a lot, so when you guys just sit and talk, she loves it. And she has A L O T to talk about.
Physical Touch
- Danse is literally just a big teddy bear. He loves cuddling with you and just basking in your presence. He’s a big ol baby.
- Piper hates it, but she’s severely touch-starved. She just loves being held so much, it’s not even funny. But if you tell anyone she’s a softie, she’s killing you.
- Dogmeat is literally a dog lol. Just a baby :)
Hiiii!!
How would Fallout 4 Romanced companions react to young looking SS reveals her/his real age (looks like 18 y.o. But actually is 35 y.o.)?
Yeah! (Thanks for request btw)
(She/her swf)(also Google says that almost all companions are around 30 or 25)
Paladin Danse:"I cant belive such young soldier was able to do so many good things for brotherhood" Sole tell him shes like 30 "oh I I mean you look young?ee?I mean good for you? I mean you look good I-" He will be super akward but it kinda makes him feel better that she is a little older because he is 30himself and he felt litte werid having crush on 18year old Sole( yeah it would make her almost twice his age). Now that he knows that shes around his age he wont feel weird and probably be more open. Also if Sole is insecure about her age he will tell her that shes amazing soldier AND person so no need to worry
Nick:simiar to Danse tbh. Nick is very old guy, if Sole tell him that shes like 35 he will probably Look like😳(in good way)
Deacon: "woah babe you age like wine"💀he will relate, again he himself is like 40 and he looks not bad. Also He probably already knew before Sole even find railroad. He wonders if every person from before the war never aged and looked young for most of lifes lol. But ig Sole Just got lucky. He will make jokes that the freezer she been locked in for 200years just was very good for her skin
MacCready:"even better", he gives off milf hunter vibes im sorry, i feel like hes even more atracted to her than before. If shes insecure about her age he will be confused?"honey you look amazing what you mean?"
Preston: "aw babe its alright^v^ you still the best btw" he is our wholesome king okay he will say a lot of nice anc supportive things to Sole. Hes kinda jelous that she looks younger at him even if hes the younger one.
Gage:"eh okay boss, i mean sure i dont care" he doesnt care, as far as she loves him back He does not give a fuck (I mean he is a bandit raider idk what yall expected) Also He still thinks that Sole is the hottest in whole nukacola world, and she doesnt have to worry about anyone getting his attencion.
Manson:"even better😈" he is weird, he will coment on it and say very unexpected stuff(im sure he will say something along the lines 'older women=better women because their bodies are more adapted to having kids???He is weird asf) But nothing will change really he will Just get a little weirder, but nothing out of ordinary(for him atleast)
X6-88:"so my calculations were correct" before Sole told him he was very confused, she looks 18?? And she was in frigde for 200years? And her son is 80?? Kinda confusing if you ask me. So he probably used his super hiper advanced robo-brain to calculate how old is she. When Sole told him, it didnt really bother him, age isnt something that he really cares about.
Please i beg for more requests my life is rather boring
Got any Headcanons on how companions like to cuddle? How would they like Sole to hold or comfort them? If they’re into it at all that is.
Cait:
Early on in the relationship, Cait is very "iffy" about excessive physical contact. Truthfully though, she is deeply touch starved, craving the love and affection that you can give her. Just be patient with her and build up that trust, eventually you'll find her nonchalantly draping an arm around you as you sit at a bar..wrapping both of them around you to sleep so she can hold you tight.
Curie:
Cuddling is yet another new and wondrous area for her to explore. As a Nanny bot, Curie never experienced the "high" of being in another's embrace, so the very second you ask her to cuddle- she is elated. Honestly anyway is the way for Curie.
Danse:
Danse will primarily initiate cuddling when the two of you turn in for the night, finding that holding you tight against his chest is the best way to fall asleep. Being a victim of frequent night terrors, Danse has a tendency to cling to you for dear life- sometimes even waking up and involuntarily squeezing you gently just to make all reassure him that you are there. He just wants to be able to protect you.
Deacon:
Physical contact is also a rough spot for Deacon. I mean..he obviously loves you a whole lot but..just let him warm up to the idea of cuddling please. He'll come around, and when he does, he will have no shame in asking you to be the big spoon.
Gage:
Believe it or not, he is a sucker for cuddles. Gage's absolute favorite way is when the two of you have some privacy and he can just hold you on his lap, your head on his shoulder and his hands rubbing imaginary shapes into your back until both of you doze off.
Hancock:
Another enthusiastic cuddler on our hands. Unless it's mid-battle, Hancock is almost always down to cuddle. Be it spooning or whatever, he is ready.
Macready:
He too suffers from the thought of losing you, even if it's in the back if his mind. As such, Macready tends to keep that "death grip" on you at all times. Unlike Danse, he'll even resort to throwing a leg over you.
Maxson:
The whole routine of sharing his bed with another person is honestly something he has to get used to. However with that being said, Arthur quickly develops a liking towards you being the one to hold him. I know, "not the brotherhood elder", hear me out though...after countless hours of duty, sometimes he only has the energy to crawl into bed and do all he can not to just straight lay on top of you.
Nick:
As with most things, he's a traditionalist. He likes the classic "spooning" position. He even respectfully keeps his hands strictly on your waist the entire time you sleep.
Old Longfellow:
It may sound kind of mushy for him, but his absolute favourite way to cuddle is by laying down facing you and holding your hand as the two of you drift off into a peaceful sleep.
Piper:
Even though it isn't necessarily to go to sleep, Piper prefers for you to simply lean into her side so she can cuddle up against you and continue to rattle off about whatever latest development she has made.
Preston:
PLEASE. BE. THE. BIG. SPOON.
Let this poor sweet man know how much you love him and how you will protect him. He deserves that much.
Sturges:
Honestly? He loves nothing more for you to play with his hair as he lays his head down on your lap. Maybe even tell him about some of the latest settlements you've been helping out, or don't, just enjoy the moment.
X6-88:
Might not sound too "sweet" but X6 has found that his preferred way to cuddle is to rest his head atop your own and gingerly wrap his arms around your waist.
Imagine kissing under the mistletoe
Deacon:
Deacon would be hiding away in a corner as your held your first Christmas party for all of your friends. He liked to listen in on the conversations happening around him then engaging with the people having them
He was hoping to go unnoticed but you spotted him and quickly made your way over, you and him would stand there gossiping about what you two had heard through out the night
But as you both talked you could hear snickering from behind you, which caused you to turn around and saw Piper and Hancock luaghing
“Aye blue, it looks like Deacon owns you a gift.” Piper said causing you to tilt your head in curiosity but out of the corner of your eye you saw something red, before realizing it was mistletoe
Inside Deacon would be freaking out, but would play it cool and start to joke about it which made you laugh, making him relax a bit and feel confident again
You both were smiling and laughing at his own jokes when all sudden he felt you put your hand on his shoulder and softly plant a kiss on his lips. His eyes would wide behind his glasses before smiling
“Geez boss if I’d known this was going to happen then I would have worn my good suit.”
Hancock:
John would be walking around the party with his hand behind his back and other filled with a bourbon bottle. He was on a mission to find you that night to give you his gift
He saw you talking to Cait and began to make his way over to you. Cait saw him coming told you she would talk to you later, he would then greet you before getting to talk
You would ask how he was enjoy the night which would make him cockily reply that it was good but about to get a whole lot better. You were confused by what he meant by that but just assumed he was going to spike the punch or something
While you were talking you hear someone call your name making you turn your head which gave John all the time he needed to move his hand from behind his back and holding it above the two of you
You turned your head back to him and found that he was now holding mistletoe while grinning madly, you laughed a little before eagerly grabbing him by the collar and make out with him. His grin was ten times bigger when you pulled back
“Woah sunshine, I’m starting to think I didn’t need the mistletoe.”
Danse:
The paladin would have only came to be nice, he wasn’t a party type of person so being there made him slightly uncomfortabe, but he was set at ease when he found you
He spent the majority of the evening with you and was actually starting to enjoy himself, as you and him talked about the new power armor you found while looking for decorations for the event
“Looks like someone’s about to get their first kiss.” You heard Handcock say, you were confused for a second before realizing where you were stand, you had put mistletoe here while decorating and had completely forgotten about it
You looked towards Danse and saw his face was beet red, which only made you assume he glanced up. You begin to say that you didn’t have to go through with it if he didn’t want to
“When your offered a chance to kiss a wonderful person, you don’t turn it down.” You blushed from hearing him say that, his face suddenly dropped. “I said that out loud didn’t I.”
Neither of you made the first move, and just stood there awkwardly until Danse worked up the courage to lift you up bridal style and kissed you with more passion then has for the brotherhood
MacCready:
Robert would be sitting down enjoying a beer with you as you both reminisced about your childhood around the holidays
It interesting to learn that when he was mayor of little lamplight that they would always find a way to celebrate Christmas even if their Christmas tree was a few branches with lights on it
He had just told you a funny story that caused you to laugh so hard that you looked towards the ceiling with laughter where behind tears of joy you saw mistletoe
“Looks like your getting lucky tonight.” You said glancing over to MacCready who looked very confused so you pointed up, his eyes followed your finger and widen after seeing that
“(Y/N) we don’t have to do that.” He said in a nervous chuckling but you could read between the lines that he didn’t want that
He had turned his head away from you so you lightly moved his head to face you and did what he wished he could do and kissed him.
X6-88:
He would only be there on father’s orders to monitor you which was basically him giving death glares to anyone that came up to you and telling them after they were done talking to you it would be in their best interest not to talk to you again
But his job was made easier when you came over and started telling to him about old Christmas stories you could remember
He would gladly stand there and listen to you as long he could still watch over you. As you rambled on he observers the room thinking it’s pretty dull until his eyes landed on something red
“Ma’am what’s that red thing?” He would ask turning your to what he was referring to only to start giggling slightly when you saw it
“That’s mistletoe, it’s a holiday tradition to kiss someone when you stand under it.” You would explain but X6 would start to say that it was idiotic to just kiss someone because of a plant
But all you did in return was smirk. He knew that look, that was look you made before you did something stupid. He tried to follow up his previous statement but you lunged at him, in a kissing attack, showing him that the tradition wasn’t all bad
Nick:
Nick would be outside smoking. He had been enjoying his self inside but wanted a moment alone
He was thinking to himself when he heard the door open, then close. He turned his head slightly and saw it was you
You walked over and stood next to him, before taking out a cigarette and fumbling for a lighter until Nick pulled out his own and lighting it for you which made you nod in appreciation
You and him soon start to talk about the holidays before the bombs. He told you a story how a man who was a known criminal who came across a lost child and safely walked them to the police, Nick was going to arrest him but saw what he did and let him go
His story made you smile, it was nice to know that even in those dark times that there was still good in the world. Nick took one last puff off his cigarette before stompomg it out. He looked up and blew out the smoke but was pleasantly surprised to find mistletoee
“Now would you look at that, mistletoe.” He said making you both smile. You hadn’t thought you would be participating in your own little decoration. He brought his hand up to your face and kissed you while enjoying a perfect moment
Preston:
Preston was happy to come to the party as he was looking to bring the community together
He would be spending the night talking with all different kind of settlers as he promoted the minuetmen cause along with the holiday spirit
He eventually come across you while talking to a settler, you and him would strike up a conversation about the holidays when the same settler would point out that you two were under the mistletoe
Preston blushed intensely when he heard that, and say that it would be inappropriate for you two to kiss
“One little kiss won’t hurt now will it?” He couldn’t deny that you were right, and finally agreed to it
You took the lead, by wrapping your arms around his neck and laying a sweet kiss on his lips, he still thought it was inappropriate but would not lie that he enjoyed it very much
fo4 companions as dads? :0
Fo4 companions as parents!
Added female companions too, also I know Hancock and Valentine both can't have kids, so just imagine them as adoptive/stepparents. I also know it's not really clear as to whether or not synths can reproduce.
Headcanons, talk of pregnancy, obviously.
Cait:
❤︎ Having kids was never part of Cait's plans for the future. Taking care of little snots while working a career at the combat zone was pretty much impossible. To add to that, her own awful upbringing made her afraid.
❤︎ So when the two of you were expecting a little one of your own, she panicked. She loved the kid, she truly did. But she had no clue how she was gonna go about it. There was now a tiny human being that relied on her for everything.
❤︎ Stand offish and distant with the child at first. She is scared to hold them, feed them or generally deal with them, afraid to harm them like her parents did to her. Just about broke down crying once out of frustration and helpnessness.
❤︎ Slowly settles into it with your help. The woman will hold the kid more often, loosen up and actually try to enjoy parenting a little. Motherhood still makes her wanna tear her hair out sometimes, but she'll never let anything happen to them.
❤︎ Bonding with the child is bittersweet for her. On the one hand she is happy that her child isn't afraid of her, relishing in how they run as fast as their little legs can carry them to get their moms comfort after scraping a knee. On the other hand, it dawns on her even more just how shitty her life was before.
❤︎ Not the gentlest parent. Cait has affectionately called your child a 'little shite' on more than one occasion. And while she keeps them away from chems, as they become teens she might give them a little sip of booze every now and then.
Curie:
❤︎ Curie is a walking database of medical knowledge and other important information, so she is probably the best equipped for taking care of a little one. She just wasn't expecting the parental affection to hit her like a trainwreck.
❤︎ Adjusts to parenthood pretty well, all things considered. She has to grapple with newfound emotions, but she can pull herself together enough to take care of the kid. She's a lot more energetic than you when it comes to late night feedings and changing filthy clothes.
❤︎ You have a very healthy child. Curie closely monitors the child's health wherever she can. She tries to find the best foods for them to eat, gets them to avoid stress and keep up good hygiene. It can get a little annoying for the little one, but she means well.
❤︎ Discipline isn't her strong suit. She's not confrontational and the little tear filled tantrums tug on her heart strings. Her logical side knows she has to stand her ground, but her newer, emotional side just wants to hug them and make the crying stop.
❤︎ Probably the calmest when the child does something out of the ordinary. Likely has had to reassure you that a young child not breathing for three seconds isn't any cause for concern. Also fusses less when the child gets scrapes or cuts, unless they're serious.
❤︎ Loves teaching the child everything she knows. Practically homeschools them with a crap ton of medical information and how to treat their own wounds. She thinks education is incredibly important and wants the child to be prepared.
Danse:
❤︎ Danse has had thoughts of being a father before, an idea he abandoned when he found out he was a synth. He wasn't expecting to have a little one of his own, but he couldn't be happier about it. It may not have been what he expected, but he was going to be the best damn dad he could be.
❤︎ Does everything in his power to keep his new little family safe. He fusses over your health and reminds you constantly to take it easy. He keeps the stoic face, but on the inside the former paladin partly feels like he doesn't deserve this, and is afraid his nature as a synth will come back to cause problems.
❤︎ Completely smitten with his little son or daughter. He could spend hours just holding their fragile body in his strong arms. Danse would do anything for them, no matter the cost. That deep seated loyalty once reserved for the Brotherhood now solely focused on his family.
❤︎ Bit of a stricter dad. Definitely wants the child to learn discipline. To tiny up their room, clean up after themselves and create structure in their life and routine. He's also firm in training them himself, wanting to make sure they can take care of themselves. Genuinely wants his kid to do better than him.
❤︎ If he has a daughter, he'd definitely would be a bit more protective of her, especially when it came to any potential partners. Doesn't matter what gender his child is, boyfriends and girlfriends have to meet him first before he lets them into the family.
❤︎ Incredibly proud of his children, but takes it a bit hard when they leave to be on their own. Doesn't matter how long it's been, he'll still go across the Commonwealth or further to visit them.
Deacon:
❤︎ Deacon loves kids, he even wanted his own with his late wife. But he doesn't know how to feel at the news. He'll love that kid more than anything else on this world, but he feels like he can't be a good dad. With his past and his job weighing on him, he feels like a liability. He's not even sure he wants the child to ever know his part in the Railroad.
❤︎ Stuck between wanting to be close to his family at all costs and staying away so the Institute or other anti-Railroad groups can't harm his child because of his job. He always has to have other agents watching over you before he feels even mildly comfortable letting you out of sight.
❤︎ A lot more hesitant about changing his appearance with surgery. At first he didn't think about it. But this is the face his kiddo is used to, the face that their little eyes light up at and reach out for. It just becomes a whole lot less appealing and he tries to avoid it.
❤︎ Hides his worry about his family very well. Deacon acts all carefree, gently tossing his child in the air and catching them or playfighting. He is the typical playful dad that sometimes acts as much as a child as the little one.
❤︎ Teaches the kid to be strong, but also accepting. He wants his child to never judge wastelanders that are different to humans, whether that be ghouls or synths. But above else Deacon wants them to be able to take care of themselves when he no longer can't.
❤︎ Worst sense of dad humor. Turns a lot of things into a joke when it's appropriate. It annoys the hell out of his next of kin, but he thinks it's funny.
John Hancock:
❤︎ Wasn't too sure about taking care of your kid. Don't get him wrong, he loves you, and by extension he also loves your little one. He's just not the best influence on a child. But he cares too much to stay away. He may have been a screw up, but at least he can prevent his newfound stepchild from ending up like him.
❤︎ Takes on a bit more of a fun uncle role to your child. Plays around with them, takes them on trips, will let them have a little sip of his booze if they're old enough. Definitely the fun (step)parent
❤︎ He's your childs scary dog privilege. Nobody dares to mess with Hancock's family, and he knows it. He sticks close to your childs side, glaring at anyone he deems a threat.
❤︎ Sometimes has Fahrenheit or the Neighbourhood watch babysit them while he's busy. You come back to heavily armed men and ghouls feeding them some sweets.
❤︎ Has cursed in front of your kid, will curse in front of them again. Your child learns some pretty colorful language from a young age, good luck for that.
❤︎ Makes dirty jokes to you as well. They're cryptic enough to where your child doesn't get why you're so flustered. They have a major realization about it when they're older.
Nick Valentine:
❤︎ Nick gets used to having your child around pretty fast. He likes kids, and he doesn't mind taking on a parental role whatsoever. At least, as far as you'll allow him to do so. Last thing he wants is to overstep any boundaries.
❤︎ Keeps your kid out of trouble. Scolds them when they sneak out or do anything stupid. He comes across like a grumpy old dad.
❤︎ Always finds out what your child is up to, nothing stays hidden from the old detective. Has found your young child back so many times when they ran off irresponsibly to go play.
❤︎ Is your childs shoulder to cry on. Nick is great at giving them advice, and generally listening to their problems. Your child sees him as someone they can closely trusted.
❤︎ Nick genuinely loves your child like his own. He'd sacrifice himself without second thought, and he counts his lucky stars that you let him into their life.
❤︎ One time he even got your child their own detective outfit, promising them a job at the detective agency when they're old enough to do so. Calls them his little detective.
Piper Wright:
❤︎ Piper was already raising her little sister, so she was a little bit hesitant to add another child into the mix, but she couldn't deny the appeal of a family. She wants to do right, to be a good parent.
❤︎ Definitely a playful mom. Piper likes playing around with the child, joking around. She loves lightly tossing them in the air and catching them.
❤︎ Nick Valentine is the usual babysitter. Piper rarely trusts anyone else to take care of them, given her reputation as the reporter troublemaker. Enough people have it out for her, and they're not above harming her family. Maybe Nat babysits when she's a little older.
❤︎ Speaking of people wanting to harm her or her family, she always keeps a close eye on the child at all times if she can help it. She's too scared something will happen to them if she turns away.
❤︎ Nat plays with her little niece / nephew a lot. While you and Piper make dinner or unwind, Nat will mess around with the childs toys or playfight them.
❤︎ Piper loves taking the child with her to run errands throughout Diamond city once she's more comfortable. It always ends with Piper taking them to noodle stand. It becomes a ritual.
Porter Gage:
❤︎ Gage never wanted to become a dad. He wasn't the fondest of kids, raising them as a raider was nigh impossible and he already had enough of a target on his back from the Nuka world raiders as is. He wasn't happy when he found out about the fact he was gonna have a child, but he wouldn't ever abandon you.
❤︎ Immediately goes to pulling strings to try and keep you safe. Keeping an ear out for anyone thinking this is a good time to try and take you out while you're vulnerable. You're quite literally the only person he cares about, and he downright refuses to lose you over this.
❤︎ Gage expected to hate parenthood, to resent his child because he had to sacrifice so much to keep safe a baby he didn't even want. He also hated seeing you suffer through the entire process, risking your own health. But when the tiny little hands grabbed onto his finger for the first time he was a goner.
❤︎ Being a dad at first isn't his favorite. He has to fight tooth and nail to keep the baby from getting killed. The crying, messes and late nights aren't helping. Still he couldn't imagine leaving them behind. He wants the kid to succeed in the world and there's nothing he wouldn't do for his family.
❤︎ Begins to enjoy being a dad a whole lot more when the child is a bit older and can talk, doing more things on their own. Assuming it's possible, Gage enjoys taking the child to play the games around Nuka world whenever he has time off. The innocent laughter from his child makes him feel like he's doing a good job shielding them from the harsh realities of the world. As far as it's possible in a place filled with raiders.
❤︎ Still he can't let his child grow up soft and naive. He teaches the child everything he learned to survive. How to manipulate others in their favor, to use weapons, generally to survive in a harsh worlds. Also drills it into the kid never to play hero. He doesn't care how much others are suffering, he's not risking the only people he cares about.
Preston Garvey:
❤︎ Would fist fight an army of behemoths for his family no questions asked. He's a loyal minuteman, and a fiercely loyal dad and husband. He takes his job of protecting settlements even more serious for their sake. He'd die for his family, for the chance for his child to have a better future than he ever had.
❤︎ Whenever he feels hopeless he takes the child into his arms, sees their little smile, hears their little laughs. It makes it seem like everything he suffered through was worth it.
❤︎ Sometimes he puts his hat on the childs head. He'll look at you with a big smile, asking; "Hey babe, what do you think? Future general?"
❤︎ When the minutemen have secured an area, he'll let his child 'patrol' the area with him, complete with fake weapon and all. They're just proudly strutting after their dad, looking proud of themselves.
❤︎ Doesn't like being angry or stern with them. He knows he has to, it's a part of parenting. But seeing their little faces scrunch up with upset as they cry at a deserved scolding, he just feels like the scum of the earth. Poor guy has to fight to keep a straight face and now immediately hold them and apologize.
❤︎ When your child is a little older, Preston allows them to do jobs around the settlement for caps. He's very hesitant about sending them out as a soldier. He knows very well it's hypocritical, since he believes in dying for freedom. But the idea of his child becoming a martyr makes him feel ill.
Robert J. MacCready:
❤︎ MacCready already has Duncan, but his jaw still dropped when you told him the news. He was incredibly excited to have another child, but deathly afraid something would happen to you or the baby.
❤︎ Completely overprotective. You're not traveling anywhere, you're staying in a settlement or other type of home. He lost one love of his life, he refuses to lose another. He'll take up extra jobs close to you if he has to put extra caps on the table.
❤︎ Since he already had a child, he figured he was used to the feeling. But as soon as he got to hold his second bundle of joy, he actually broke down sobbing. Mixed feelings of guilt, love, joy and a hint of sadness. He also made a note to include Duncan in it as much as possible. He tells the older child that he's a great big brother, letting him hold his little half sibling as well.
❤︎ Spends as much time with you and the kids as possible. MacCready uses all the experience he gained with Lucy and Duncan to do things better for you and the new child. He's also incredibly paranoid. If the baby stops moving or breathing for a bit too long, he's up immediately to check on them, even waking up a lot faster than usual.
❤︎ If you live somewhere safe, he slowly becomes comfortable enough to take your child and Duncan out on little trips with dad. He'll teach them to use guns, life skills and how to stay safe. Also a massive sucker for play fights, he just becomes the kids' personal playground. It's not uncommon to find him laughing while trying to pin down one of the kids while they try to grab onto him. Sometimes reads them comics too. Just like Cait he might let them have a little sip of his whiskey if they ask nicely.
❤︎ He hates it when you or the kids are out of his sight, first of all. He dreads the day the kids leave home to make it on their own. If it were up to MacCready, they'd stay with him forever. Just about gets the worst case of empty nest syndrome and if it were up to him, he'd give them another sibling.
X6-88:
❤︎ X6-88 and parenting is a disaster waiting to happen. The courser has the emotional capacity of a wooden spoon, and absolutely zero fatherly instincts. Had a complete poker face the first time he held the child in his hands.
❤︎ Absolute pro at keeping the child safe, though. Nobody is getting close enough to the child to hurt them before they're shot down. Not that anyone really dares to try anyway, X6-88 is pretty intimidating as is.
❤︎ A bit harsh on punishments and discipline. He has trouble recognizing that he is dealing with a child, not a disobedient synth. He doesn't really understand that children are all emotion and impulse, and lack comprehension and logic. He just kind of stands there while the child is crying and upset.
❤︎ When he learns a bit more about how to deal with kids, he puts them on a healthy diets, trying to keep out rads and makes sure they don't get sick. Regularly takes temperature and checks for injuries they might have.
❤︎ Just like Danse, he finds training very important. He wants them to learn how to calculate dangers, how to fight back, what weapons work best against certain wasteland animals.
❤︎ Prefers to keep the child close to him. It makes no sense to him that children go off on their own when they're older. It doesn't logically make sense, the kid is saying close where he can keep an eye on things.
Old Longfellow: (Grandpa bonus)
❤︎ Longfellow never got to be a father, so when you walked into his life, it didn't take a heck of a long time for him to take you under his wing. When you eventually had a kid of your own, the old hunter softens up a bit.
❤︎ Kind of a 'dad with the cat he said he didn't want' scenario. Grumbles every time he 'has' to babysit, but secretly loves doing so. He'll sit by the fireplace in a chair with the child sitting on his lap, huddled up in a blanket.
❤︎ Just about has a heart attack whenever he loses the child for more than five seconds, fearing the harsh and dangerous island might get to them, only to find them playing near the water or something. Longfellow's response was try and build a fence around his cabin so they can't just walk off.
❤︎ Will not let them anywhere near the Children of Atom. As soon as one of their messengers breathe near the child, the old man is just about ready to start fight over it.
❤︎ Tells them stories about his youth when they go to sleep. He talks about all his hunting trips, about what kind of creatures he encountered and the game he brought back home.
❤︎ Your child does not like grandpa Longfellow's cooking. They can never, ever look at a Mirelurk the same again after having to eat so much jerky.
I hope you are doing okay. I would really like a rather simple Idea of the Yan Fallout 4 boys whose obsession confesses that they have a crush... on someone else. But that someone else has no Idea.
》Ah, I see you crave violence.
【Codsworth】 "You can do so much better."
As much as he has no desire to date you he sees how great you are and you deserve someone just as lovely, maybe even more than you if someone like that existed. Who you've picked is subpar. Oh, they can make you laugh? Do higher your standards, please. For his non-existent heart.
【Danse】 "What do they have that I don't?"
In his heart he gets it; he is a broken man who isn't even human. But this was the last bit of sanity he could take. You try to explain yourself, whether it be the other person never spat at a ghoul or simply has their life together. He knows he can't change the past and he doesn't want you to leave him. Against his better judgement he goes to that person and fights them. He wins too.
【Deacon】 "How could that happen?!"
Deacon would consider himself lucky man, and he was very lucky you told him while you were on an investigation. This person lived quite comfortably and had a very stable life. Imagine everyone's surprise when someone found a letter on him saying he was going to let the raiders into Diamond City because no one would suspect him to be up to no good. Who told the guard? Don't worry about it.
【Hancock】 "Here's how this is going to go."
The second they set foot in Good Neighbor they are dragged into his office. He talks to them with thinly veiled threats and tells them to back off. When they say 'no' and stand their ground he says, "Whoa, you see that Glory?" with his hands up. She then proceeds to say she did, that they had a gun pointed at him. When they still don't back down and try to deescalate he has her shoot him. Even though everyone in Good Neighbor knows what happens the official story is that they pulled a weapon on the mayor and Glory had to save him. No one betrays that story.
【MacCready】 "Who?"
He plays dumb and asks you to tell him who they are. And you had no reason to think he had any ill intentions. Afterwards he brushes it off with a, 'good luck with that' kind of dismissal. However, now that he knows their name, where they live, and where they work, he kills them from long distance. No one can point the finger his way because he never knew the person.
【Nick】
♤If Platonic "When do I get to meet them?"
He's gonna do an impromptu 'If you want to date my daughter' kind of dinner with them. The entire time he's watching them with great interest, making threats in just the right way to be completely permissible. If and when you excuse yourself for a moment he fully tells them they have one shot to play this out and if they get it wrong no one will find their body. Don't be surprised if they dump you the next day.
♡If Romantic "Stay away from them."
He didn't mean to say it but after he did he had to roll with it. His silver tongue got him in and out of a lot of places so it's not hard to craft a story about how the person in question exhibits strange behaviors, enough that he needed to look into it. Just to make sure his story goes unchecked he pays them a little 'visit' and tells them to never speak to you. Ever.
【Preston】 "Really? That's great!"
He immediately supports you in your endeavor but later when you go to sleep he finds that person. He takes them out of earshot of the town and kills them, throwing their body into the river after. In the morning they are nowhere to be found and you're heartbroken. It's okay, Preston will help you look for them. He'll be right next to you.
【X6-88】 "I see."
He wants to tell you you're too good for them but that would be a waste of time. No, he needs to be smarter than that. Excusing himself and then finding them dead would be too suspicious. He was by your side the entire day and they suddenly collapsed. They died in your arms. Say what you will about that strange tragedy, you can never say you suspected him.
Fallout companions react to sole telling that they don't want to even lose them and then breakingdown. I need all the angst!
God, me too. As much as I say I hate angst, I'm definitely a sucker for it! This idea, especially, is super exciting for me since I feel like the Fallout 4 companions have a lot of opportunity for angst (I play through Nick's personal quest just to cry at the ending) Anyways, I hope you enjoy this one and it was worth the wait!
Companions React to Sole Breaking Down - TW: Mentions of Addiction and Suicide
(Includes: Cait, Codsworth, Curie, Danse, Deacon, Hancock, MacCready, Nick, Piper, Preston and X6-88)
Cait She isn't really sure what brought this on. Cait knows she isn't great at keeping herself safe or even having much concern for her own wellbeing, but she hadn't realised that upset Sole so much. Was it the chems? Maybe how she often charges head first into battle. Whatever it is, she admittedly feels guilty, not realising Sole cared so much about her. She isn't the best at comforting people, but she tries her best to make Sole feel better and reassure them that she isn't going anywhere. It may result in some awkward shoulder pats, but it's the thought that counts, right?
Codsworth It's probably not the first time that Codsworth has seen Sole break down. After all, he was the first living being they ran into after escaping the horrors of Vault 111. Still, this particular breakdown takes him by surprise, he didn't know he mattered that much to Sole. He's probably the best at comforting Sole, considering he knows them so well. Later on, he'll likely bring up how touched he is to know that he's important to Sole and promises he'll stand by them.
Curie She's extremely apologetic when she realises Sole's breaking down, at first thinking she'd done something wrong, before they explain that they can't stand to lose her. She understands where Sole is coming from, they're the most important person in her life and she doesn't want to begin to think what things would be like without them. She apologises if she ever scared them and reassures them that she's much more formidable than she seems
Paladin Danse He immediately panics when Sole starts to break down. Being in the Brotherhood, he's never known how to deal with his own emotions, let alone the emotions of someone else. He'll try his best to comfort Sole, but he definitely won't succeed. If he's still in the Brotherhood and him and Sole aren't extremely close - or romantically involved - he'll only insist that, due to his training, he's confident nothing bad will happen to him. However, if they're closer, Danse will go out of his way to make sure Sole knows they won't ever lose them, he loves Sole and he'd keep surviving so long as it made them happy.
Deacon He has no idea how to react at first. Sure, he'd been travelling with Sole for a while now, but he figured it was just out of convenience, since he was showing them the ropes in the Railroad. He'd figured his lying would've annoyed them by now and yeah, they were close, but he didn't know he mattered this much to them. He wants to crack a joke, but even he knows it's bad timing. Instead - because he understands how devastating loss can be, and he knows what Sole's been through - he actually does his best to comfort them, which he's actually good at, much to both his and Sole's surprise.
Hancock Like Cait, he initially thinks it's down to his reckless behaviour when it comes to chems and almost immediately promises you that he knows not to overdo it and if chems were going to kill them, they would've by now. He assures Sole that so long as he has them by his side, there's no way he plans on dying early, even though life hasn't exactly been kind to him in the past. Sole gives him a reason to keep going and he'd rather not ruin that.
MacCready Similarly to Deacon, he understands - maybe better than anyone - just how hard losing the person you love can be. The death of Lucy still haunts him, in spite of how much he cares for Sole, so he feels terrible that they share concerns he once had to suffer the aftermath of. He promises them over and over that they'll never lose him, no matter what happens. He even goes the extra mile and makes sure to be careful when they're outside the walls of a settlement, just to give Sole some peace of mind.
Nick Valentine He's better at comforting Sole than most, he knows a lot about their past and how they ended up in the Commonwealth, widowed and searching for their child. Besides, he's used to dealing with people breaking down in front of him - albeit, it's a little different since Sole means a lot to him. He knows he and Sole have grown close, so he understands completely why they'd be worried about losing another loved one. Nick will jokingly point out that if he's survived this long with only a few - a lot of - bumps and scratches, they have nothing to worry about. If Sole brings up their concerns again, he'll be more than happy to reassure them further.
Piper Wright She understands that with her line of work, she's a lot more likely to meet an untimely demise, but who doesn't die young these days? She's surprised she's made it this far with the amount of attempts on her life. She can stand seeing Sole cry though and instantly wraps them in a hug, telling them that as long as she's got them by her side, she'll be fine. Piper trusts Sole completely to protect her, just as she'd protect them. It breaks her heart to see them so torn up though and she almost feels guilty, deciding she'll find a way to make it up to them soon, even if she hasn't necessarily done anything wrong.
Preston Garvey As someone who often struggles with seeing the meaning in his own life, Preston is completely taken aback by Sole's worry towards his wellbeing. He instantly feels terrible for having any thoughts about taking his own life and apologises profusely to Sole, insisting that nothing bad will ever happen to them. He hasn't had an easy time recently, but having Sole by his side has helped more than he could've ever imagined and if they care about him enough to want him to keep fighting, then he will, without question.
X6-88 To nobody's surprise, X6 doesn't really know what to say or do. He simply clarifies that coursers were designed to be near enough formidable, so the likelihood of anything happening to him is extremely low. He does show some genuine concern, by asking if Sole would benefit from speaking to someone professionally, it's not enough to comfort Sole, but he's trying his best.
Fo4 Companions (+Sturges, DiMA, and Travis) As Coffee Shop Customers
➼ Word Count » 0.3k ➼ Warnings » None ➼ A/N » Not sure what I'm doing but I'm having a lot of fun? If anyone else did this before me, I'm so sorry, I promise I'm trying to be original😭😭
MacCready - Flirts with the barista to try and get the drink for free.
Nick - He's the shop's favorite customer. He orders a simple coffee, doesn't cause problems, and deescalates situations quite frequently. They couldn't ask for a better guy.
Cait - Sits in a corner booth and spikes her coffee before she stumbles out completely shit-faced.
Danse - He's like a mom? Like if he goes with someone he'll tell them about the calories in whatever they ordered and will like give healthier suggestions. He never really goes to coffee shops by himself.
Preston - Probably would only come with some settlement kid and buy them a muffin.
Codsworth - He kinda just invites himself behind the counter before accidentally becoming an employee.
Piper - Banned for harassing customers so she has to sit outside.
Curie - Asks a lot of questions about what ingredients are in the different drinks before deciding she doesn't really want coffee.
Strong - Burns the place to the fucking ground when they say they don't sell milk.
Hancock - He's super friendly to the baristas and can't help but offer jobs to them to work at the Thrid Rail or for them to open up their own shop in Goodneighbor.
Deacon - Orders the longest drink known to man.
X6-88 - Acts like he's better than you cause he ordered a black coffee and then complains about every minor flaw the shop has.
Dogmeat - Not allowed in so he just barks through the window with Piper
Old Longfellow - Comes at ungodly hours of the morning to try and sober up.
Gage - Surprisingly really kind? He just wants to get out of there as soon as he can. He always makes a mess at his table tho. Like he'll just leave trash everywhere.
Sturges - He only really comes for the food they have out on display.
DiMA - He's very patient and polite, especially if it takes a little longer than usual. Similar to Nick, he's very well-liked.
Travis - He gets a little flustered when he hears his radio station playing on the counter and will probably just stumble his way out of the building to try and recompose himself.
Companions react to sole going AFK
Cait: Goes and leans against a tree or building. Keeping eyes open for anything alarming.
Curie: Stands by Sole and takes notes of what they do. (Nothing)
Codsworth: Begins to groom sole, cleaning them of dirt and brushing hair. Then checks the area for enemies.
Deacon: Depending on what sole is wearing, like a hat or jacket, Deacon will take it off sole and put it on himself. Then he will wait for sole to come back and notice.
Dogmeat: He sits in front of Sole, looking up to them whining, his head tilted.
Danse: Keeps his guard up and patrols the area for enemies.
Hancock: Checks sole out, admiring the view. (If romantically involved he makes a mental note to make love to that beautiful frame.) Then starts trying to move their limbs to put them into a funny position.
McCready: Sits against a tree, takes a drink, then a nap.
Piper: Looks around for a new story, taking notes, leaning against sole as they are more comfortable than a tree.
Preston: Sticks right next to sole assuming they will be back soon. He’ll sit when his legs get tired, but usually he’ll just walk circles around sole.
Strong: He nudges sole trying to get them to move. But when he realizes they are an immovable force he will leave. Just to get himself some food, then he comes back to munch it while watching sole.
Valentine: He takes a seat, pulls out a book, and reads until sole returns.
X6-88: Times exactly how long they go AFK for. As soon as sole gets back he lets them know how long they were gone for and tells sole all the things they could have done in that time.
