Coffee and Consequences
Summary: Reader joins the BAU, and Spencer seems insistent on being a problem for her.
Request: pls i am such a sucker for angst/smut, can you do one where spencer is closed off and cold to a new recruit, and it upsets her, so she tries to get him to like her, which leads to an argument and confession, with soft smut?
Couple: Spencer Reid/Fem!Reader
Category: Smut/Light Angst (Happy Ending)
Content Warning: Reader POV, little shit Spencer, oral sex (f recieveing), gunshot wound/typical canon violence, unprotected sex
Word Count: 6.1k
Upon starting at the BAU, I believed there was no question about me, especially when it came to my skills and ability to perform my job. From stellar recommendations from my superiors at the Academy, to general demeanor and tact, there was no question about whether or not my success was imminent. Most of the team were more than elated to welcome me to the small family theyâd built over the years, despite my younger age than most of them, which I was eternally grateful for.Â
Most, being the keyword in that sentence. Since Iâd begun, thereâd been one thorn in my roses, the bane of my existence, you might say. Spencer fucking Reid. Iâm aware of the fact that not everyone could like me, that was a given. I'm an FBI agent, for godâs sake. To expect warmth and friendship from everyone would be naive and lead to disappointment in any given scenario.Â
But Jesus Christ, this was getting absolutely ridiculous.Â
I consistently replayed the events of our first meeting. In an attempt to make a good first impression, (which seems stupid, in hindsight) I brought coffee to each of my new co-workers, hoping to establish myself as a friendly, non-threatening presence in their lives. Iâd covertly asked Emily for help, as within the interviews and background checks required to even be considered for a position in the BAU, there was a certain camaraderie and friendship forged through the continued exposure to each other.Â
Emily advised me carefully, understanding the intentions behind the act, and being more than happy to help. âJJ likes vanilla lattes, nothing too fancy. Rossi is a little simpler, a Caffe Americano.â I spoke, and continued to go through my teamâs regular orders, until there was hesitation on a somewhat infamous name, one that I myself was already intrigued by. âSpencerâs an easy order to remember, but you have to make sure you get it right.âÂ
I found myself nodding, the seriousness of Emilyâs words striking me- momentarily finding myself forgetting that they were speaking about something as mundane as coffee. "Emily spoke slowly, as if I was advising a child. 'Reid likes black coffee, but you have to make sure to add extra sugar.'" I nodded quickly, "Alright, black coffee with extra sugar, got it-" Emily interrupted me abruptly. "No, no. You're not hearing me, extra sugar. I mean a lot, okay? Otherwise, he quite literally won't drink it."
I found myself chuckling a little bit, thinking about the image of Spencer Reid Iâd built up in my head before Iâd even met him. I knew he had been framed and had endured a considerable time in prison. I was also aware of his intelligence, a natural by-product of all the papers heâd written, and how many of his own techniques in geographic profiling were referenced during my time in the Academy. Working with him seemed like a dream come true. The idea of a grown man needing as much sugar in his coffee as Emily made it seem added just a bit of charm to the already positive perception Iâd had of him.Â
In the coffee shop, I carefully recited the orders of my new teammates, taking extra caution in advising the barista that the black coffee needed extra sugar. I could tell the patrons behind me were definitely annoyed, but it didnât matter. First impressions matter more. Even after my incessant requests about sugar, I took the time to open the lid of the steaming black coffee to add in 3 extra packets of brown sugar provided at the customization station in the back of the coffee shop. I could tell the barista was boring holes into the back of my head, and I honestly wasnât surprised or could blame her. At this point, the sugar had to be more than the coffee itself. I gave a satisfied grin to myself, knowing Iâd followed Emilyâs directions and the possibility of friendship with someone Iâd already come to admire wasnât something far-off to wish for.Â
God, was I wrong.Â
I approached the bullpen cautiously, being greeted by an assortment of new faces. I quickly matched names to descriptors that had been given to me from Emily. I then noticed one face that hadnât greeted me yet, sat alone in the back with his nose in a book. I couldnât discern the title, which I quickly figured was due to the fact that the book appeared to be some European language Iâd most likely never even heard of. The man had a mess of brown hair on his head, and even from across the room I could tell it was curling softly near the nape of his neck. He was handsome. More handsome than I had pegged him for. I knew almost immediately that this had to have been the infamous Spencer Reid, and I cautiously approached him, flashing a small smile.Â
He heard me a mile away, looking up quickly and putting away his book. His eyes seemed to size me up, and he didnât seem to return my smile. I knew better than to shake hands with him, being predisposed to his germaphobe nature and instead held out the coffee, almost as if it was a peace offering.Â
âHi, uh. Iâm the new recruit, I believe Emily warned you all about me and I just wanted to introduce myself. (Y/N). Thatâs my name. Itâs nice to meet you.â I said, a little dumbly, still holding the coffee out. I quickly realized I hadnât explained the reasoning behind the coffee cup and quickly added, âCoffee. I asked Emily about how you liked it. And brought it. So, yeah.â I said. I was aware of how awkward this conversation was becoming, considering I was still holding out the cup, like an idiot, and he hadnât said a word to me yet. He nodded, taking the coffee cup from me and placing it on his desk. âDr Reid. Welcome.â His greeting was short, but I tried not to let it bother me. Perhaps he wasnât as forthcoming to strangers, nevermind that. The coffee was enough. I smiled, again, hoping to make my intentions clear. âNice to meet you, Dr Reid.âÂ
I turned back, feeling satisfied. Iâd done what Iâd come there to do. Except a sound from behind me alerted me that maybe I was a bit early to assume that, because when Iâd turned around, an incredibly displeased Dr Reid was throwing away his coffee- the coffee I had brought! That Iâd waited for in a morning rush for, that Iâd taken the time to add even more sugar to- that coffee! In the trash! His eyes met mine as he dropped it into the trashcan near his desk, shuddering a bit as he did so. He didnât even look apologetic.Â
I approached him, a bit upset and sad, but there was caution in my tone, not wanting to offend him before he even had a chance to know me. âDr Reid, Iâm sorry was the coffee-â Dr Reid quickly interrupted me. âDid Emily not tell you my order?â He asked, a little bit of sharpness to his tone.Â
Okay, so this guy took his coffee seriously. Emily was not kidding around.Â
âUm, yes-â He interrupted again. âYes? Are you sure?â He said, a bit of condescension in his tone. Okay, holy shit. All this over coffee? âVery sure.â I responded, confidently. âBlack, with extra sugar- I even put extra at the counter.â I added this, trying to convey that while I was sorry it wasnât to his liking, itâs not like I didnât try. That had to count for something, right?Â
Wrong. Spencer Reid did not seem like the type of man who cared about trying. He retorted with, âWell, it wasnât enough.â And with that, he shuffled to the breakroom, seemingly to make his own coffee.Â
It seemed like from there, things only got worse. In one of my first cases, I quickly made a quip about the statistics on suburban murders, hoping to add some valuable information to the conversation. I tried hard not to overpower anyone and stay in my lane as the resident newbie, but Spencer seemed to take personal offense to it, going out of his way to argue that it meant nothing. I fired back, hoping to affront my point but Reid quickly cut me off.
âYouâre new, alright? And young. Itâs granted that you should be clueless when it comes to some of these things.â His words, although somewhat true, were accompanied by a harsh tone and a coldness in his voice. What couldâve been well-meaning advice from a senior agent on the team was clearly not that at all. All signs pointed to one thing: He absolutely hated me.Â
For all I tried, it seemed like he only disliked me more. It wasnât unnoticed by my teammates, how heâd dismiss me. I was aware of my newness, of my inexperience, how this team had had years to grow around each other before I was ever even considered for this position, but it seemed with the more time I spent at the BAU, Spencerâs disdain only increased. He seemed to go out of his way to not sit by me on the jet, or how he seemed absolutely uninterested in anything involving me. I understood that not everyone would like me, but a bit of respect would be nice. I didnât need friendship, just his tolerance, and even that seemed out of reach for Dr Spencer Reid.Â
Eventually, this led to the dynamic we harbored now. A year into the BAU, and instead of a friendship, or even acquaintanceship, it was constant bickering. Itâs not like I wanted to argue- he just made it impossible for me to find footing within the BAU. I obviously stood up for myself, but was met with resistance from the doctor, and so the cycle continued.Â
Still, despite the obvious dislike Reid harbored for me, it wasnât like that magically made him dumb, or any less attractive to me. His intelligence was as impressive as Iâd expected it to be, if not even moreso. I watched in real-time as the cogs in his mind turned, his slender fingers finding a point on the side of his mouth to tap, before stopping and sharing what heâd just thought of. He was brilliant, and no one could take that away from him
However, in this particular case we were currently dealing with, it seemed that brilliance simply didnât matter, because how could someone like him be so absolutely stupid?Â
The hostage situation we were dealing with was tricky, to say the least. Multiple civilians, and a trigger happy unsub. Any experienced agent would be at a loss when handling something like this, but Spencer seemed confident. Heâd been pushing to storm the building, citing that more people would get hurt the longer they allowed the unsub to continue making demands. I found myself wholeheartedly disagreeing, attempting to put my foot down and be heard. I found that perhaps, through negotiations, we could not only save the civilians, but walk away with zero people hurt. Naturally, this caused commotion between the senior agent and myself.Â
âReid, Iâve told you for the millionth time that this unsub canât be approached like this!â I whisper-yelled, clearly fed up with Spencer by this point. He questioned every decision of mine, and it's gotten to me.Â
â(Y/N), youâve dealt with maybe 3 hostage situations in your life. This isnât something for you to take point on. We have civilians in there, and itâs more important we save them.â He responded, in his own hiss.Â
âYouâre being ridiculous!â I retorted.Â
âYouâre naive!â He shot back.Â
Weâd clearly reached a head when it came to this. Spencer huffed, rolling his eyes. âIâm using my seniority here. Weâre going to give the go-ahead to SWAT and make our way into the building.âÂ
I found myself returning the gesture. âSpencer- '' I began, only to be interrupted.
âDr Reid.â He corrected, venom in his voice.Â
âAre you fucking kidding me?â I replied, furrowing my brows.Â
âWhat?â He countered, seeming calm, but his eyes gave away simply how determined he was to win this.Â
âThis is a terrible idea.â I said, firmly. âSomeoneâs going to get hurt.âÂ
âOh, and how do you know that?â Spencer quipped. âIs it your years of experience in the field? Or your time spent as an FBI agent?â He said, sarcastically.Â
âI understand I donât have as much experience as you, but-â I started, but I found myself cut off by him again. Bastard. He never let me finish my sentences. âExactly.â He responded, calmly. âYou donât have as much experience. I know what Iâm doing. Letâs go.â And with that, he walked, leaving me to simply follow. God, I fucking hated that guy. Forget the intelligence, none of that mattered when he was such a dick.Â
As they entered the warehouse doors behind SWAT, IÂ knew that it was wrong. Something was off. Weâd profiled this unsub as the dominant type, and an egotistical personality that wouldnât allow for a partner. It was a part of the profile that they were sure of. It was part of the reason why Spencer was so confident of going in.Â
Upon entering though, the SWAT team had a clear shot of the unsub, but in a split second, there were shots heard from an entirely different part of the warehouse. From the direction in which Spencer was directly in line of.Â
It wasnât like I thought about it, maybe if I had, I wouldnât have done it. It was based on pure instinct. I found myself in front of Spencer Reid, the man whoâd questioned my every decision since Iâd begun my job, taking a bullet for him. Maybe he was right, maybe I was an idiot.Â
I heard the gunshot first, then felt the cold floor pressing into my cheek where Iâd been knocked down. Then a tight pressure in my arm. I finally looked down, seeing a bloom of red appear under my dress shirt where a bullet had struck, away from the vest I wore to prevent this sort of thing. I took in a sharp breath of air, eyes widening as my breathing began to quicken. I rolled onto my back, only to be met with Spencerâs concerned and frightened expression above me. I heard ins and outs of his speech into his receiver, as I faded in and out of consciousness.Â
âYes! We have an agent down. We need medic, now!â He yelled. I watched him in fascination, his face currently seeming to be the only thing I could focus on besides the overwhelming burning that I felt. I heard him speak to me, calmly. âY/N? Stay with me, okay? You need to stay conscious. Okay?â He spoke to me calmly, but the waver in his voice was unmistakable. I found my eyelids growing heavier as I nodded.Â
It wasnât long until I came to, groggily opening my eyes to see Spencerâs concerned face looking back at me. I heard his voice, soft and distant.Â
â(Y/N)..?â Spencer said, cautiously.Â
âDr Reid?â was my response. I was still a bit dizzy, and a bit confused about my whereabouts.Â
âYou were shot.â He replied, immediately. âIn your arm.â He added, as if that wasnât already obvious.Â
I found myself chuckling, âYeah, I can tell.â I said, my eyes meeting his. His expression was a bit unreadable, a mix between sternness and apprehension. I watched him, as his gaze shifted and he bit his lip. âYou took it for me.â He said, suddenly. âThe bullet, I mean.â He continued. âIt wouldâve hit me if you hadnât gotten in the way.âÂ
âGotten in the way?â I questioned, raising an eyebrow.Â
âGotten in the way.â He repeated back to me, his face hard.Â
âAre you upset I took a bullet for you?â I said, furrowing my brows, my lips parting in shock. Was this guy serious?Â
âYes.â He said, his voice angry. âWhat were you thinking?â His voice wavered with anger and another emotion I couldnât quite discern in that moment.Â
âI wasnât thinking, I just-âÂ
âExactly.â He responded, harshly. âYou werenât thinking.â He said, his voice reaching a volume Iâd never heard before, granted, it was still collected, but Iâd never seen this side of him.Â
I contemplated how to respond to this, actually not being able to believe that he could be mad at me for something like this. Yes, it was brash but- he didnât get shot! Isnât that a plus? His voice broke my thoughts, now a bit more shaky, softer. âDo you have any idea what that would mean? If youâd been hurt worse, what that would mean for me?â He said, looking right at my face, into my eyes with a blaze. âWhat you mean to me?âÂ
I found myself unable to respond, still not being able to grapple with what he was saying. What he was implying. âSorry?â I asked, softly.Â
â(Y/N)..â He said, softly. His own expression mirrored my confusion mixed with longing Iâd never seen before on him. Especially when he looked at me. His hand brushed across my face, moving some hair that had drifted near my eye. I held my breath as he did so, watching as his tongue slipped out to wet his bottom lip, still watching intently. I felt my lips slightly part as he came closer, unsure what was going to happen in this moment, but regardless, my gaze was intently trained on his.Â
In a split second though, the sounds of the rest of the BAU filtered into the hospital room. They jumped away from each other, Spencer now 4 feet away from me. Emily came up to my bedside, looking at the wound.Â
The typical chastisement came, and the general choruses of appreciation that I was still alive. The diagnosis revealed that (Y/N) would be just fine, given I remembered to clean my wound liberally and change the bandages.
In about a week, I found myself discharged. I was given about 2 more weeks to rest at my apartment. I assumed the time would be enough to forget the strange moment Iâd had in the hospital room. At some points, if I tried hard enough, I could convince myself it hadnât happened at all. The tenderness in his eyes, the way his gaze drifted to my lips, so subtle it couldâve as easily been a figment of imagination. I shook my head, as if I could rid myself of all the feelings Iâd harbored about that specific moment. I made my way to the kitchen, grabbing a fresh-set of bandages to apply on the recovering wound, wincing as I peeled away the layers of gauze to reveal the injury. As I began to apply the anti-septic, I began to wrap the gauze, until I heard a knock at my apartment door.Â
I put down the gauze, looking through the peephole and being surprised to see the senior agent that had been haunting my thoughts for the past few weeks. I opened the door quickly, meeting his pensive gaze.Â
âCan I come in?â He said, quickly, almost if he didnât say the words fast enough, heâd bolt the other direction. I sensed the confusion about his own actions, and opened the door wider, allowing him to push past me into my apartment. He noticed the gauze, and the open wound, and raised an eyebrow.Â
âI was changing the gauze, sorry.â I said, explaining the sight on my kitchen table. He immediately took a step towards the table, picking up the bandages. âLet me help.â He said, quietly, motioning for me to sit down.Â
I found myself sitting, out of pure habit of obeying him, but still shook my head.Â
âDr Reid, no, itâs fine.â He quickly shook his head, mirroring my previous actions, already beginning to take my arm, his light touches on my bare skin shooting a shiver up my spine. This was noticeable to him, him immediately retracting his hand.Â
âSorry, did I hurt you?â He asked, softly.Â
I found myself shaking my head. âNo, no. Sorry. Just. Continue.â I said, trying to get the words out without looking at him. I suddenly remembered the strangeness of this situation, and forced myself to calm down as he began to carefully wrap the bandages around my injury, swallowing and looking up.Â
âDr Reid, why are you here?â I asked, carefully. I made sure that my tone was neutral, not trying to express displeasement, but still a bit confused about his intentions here.Â
âYou took a bullet for me.â He replied, simply, as if that explained why he was in my apartment, looming over me as he tenderly wrapped gauze over my arm, looking at me with the gentlest gaze Iâd ever seen on him. I sighed, locking eyes with him. âI know, but-â He interrupted. âNo, (Y/N), you donât know.âÂ
Immediately, the rage returned to my eyes, the months of dismissal Iâd faced from him flooding back in a moment, and those emotions came to full light in that moment. my brows furrowed, my face turning sour. âOh, I donât know, Spencer?â I said, sneering at him. âAm I too young, too stupid, too inexperienced for you?â I question, sarcastically. âAm I so dumb, that I wasnât aware of what I was doing when I stepped in front of you?!â I say, my voice practically yelling at him now.Â
âYes.â He whispered, dangerously close.Â
âExcuse me?âÂ
âYes. You werenât aware.â He says, repeats, softer this time. âItâs the only way any of this makes sense. That.. that you were so unaware, so blinded that you werenât thinking when you stepped in front of me.â He said, quietly, remaining just as close as before.Â
âI wasnât.â I said, firmly, my brows still furrowed but the tension slowly left my face, being replaced with a softness.Â
âWhy did you do it then?â He said, dropping his gaze as he began to focus more on the bandages. âI havenât been very forthcoming with you since youâve begun your time at the BAU.âÂ
âAh, so youâve noticed.â I said, trying to make humor of the situation, but it came out a bit more breathless and dry. I was aware of the intimacy of the situation, and it seemed my body was catching up. I could physically feel the way my cheeks were heating up, and how they were close enough that I could see every breath that exhaled from his lips. How, despite everything, I still desperately wanted to kiss him at that moment.Â
I couldnât be crazy, when he secured the bandages and slowly trailed his eyes over my figure, sitting in front of him. I saw the same desire I felt, reflected in his eyes, and I found myself biting my lip. What the fuck was going on?
âSo whyâd you do it?â He repeated, still looking at me.Â
âIt felt natural, I..â I trailed off, trying to find the words to explain what I had felt in that split-second, but instead went with the simplest retelling my brain could manage, considering how close he was. âI didnât want you to get hurt.â I said, looking at him. âI.. I care about you.âÂ
I felt stupidly vulnerable. His breath fanned over my face, and I bit my lip. I waited for him to say something, anything, staring anxiously at his face.Â
âIâm a good profiler, you know.â He says, softly.Â
IÂ chuckle a little at this, moving away so the tension can be relieved. âTrust me, Iâm reminded of that every day.â I said, feeling like the distance between them was now more manageable, allowing me to talk.
But in a moment, he closed that distance to its predecessor, just as close as they were a moment ago. âYou learn a lot about body language. Not just by learning to profile, but through years of experience. It just comes naturally, reading people. You canât really turn it off. Itâs like trying to forget how to breathe.â I hung onto his every word, and found my breath hitching when he directed his monologue to me.Â
He gently inquires, âDo you understand?âÂ
I nod, looking up at him, as he inches closer.Â
âSo I hope youâll understand and not take offense when I say Iâve been profiling you.â He pauses. âWould you like to know what Iâve found out?â He says, looking right into my eyes at this point.Â
My brain is screaming at me to say no, to not take the bait that he was dangling right in front of me, and to not cross that line tonight. Because, surely, thatâs where this was going. I had a sneaking suspicion that the man in front of me was going to ruin me, if I let him.Â
Instead, I ignore the instinct and intuition I normally rely on, and nod. âWhat did you find out, Dr Reid?â I responded, a bit shakier than I wanted to sound.Â
âYour pupils dilate when I come near you. Itâs an involuntary response, but I notice it every time. Iâve seen it in low and heavy lighting, the only commonality in both those situations being that we were in some proximity to each other.â His voice was low, and seductive, something Iâd never heard from him before.Â
âYour heart rate.â He murmurs, slowly picking up my wrist and pressing a thumb to the pulse point. âThis isnât exactly the best way to measure heart rate.â He explains, âMy thumb. It carries its own pulse that can make it hard to distinguish between mine and yours. But right now, (Y/N)?â He mumbles. âI can tell. Because your pulse is going crazy right now. Itâd be hard to miss.â He said, with a low chuckle.
And heâs right, I can feel my heart getting faster with every second he speaks to me, in that hushed tone that seems to be driving me crazy.Â
âItâs not just tonight. Iâve noticed it since the day you walked in.â He whispers, getting closer to my ear, his lips brushing against the shell of my ear. âSince you brought that terrible coffee, actually.âÂ
I pulled back, letting out a noise that was both composed of surprise and amusement. âOh come on, it was not that bad.âÂ
âIt was, but I can tell you tried.â He said, a small smirk playing on his face. âIt was cute.â He said, now taking the time to brush some hair out of my face. It all happened quickly, his gaze tender and soft, before he captured my lips in a swoon-worthy kiss, pressing himself against me. I quickly melted into the kiss, letting out a satisfied sigh as I gripped his forearm, before rising from the chair as he slowly guided me to my couch. I let out a nervous laugh as my knees hit the cushions, tumbling a bit as I fell onto the soft pillows. He immediately pulled back, breathless, looking at me worriedly.Â
âI didnât hurt you, did I?â He murmured softly, kissing me again, a bit more gentle so I could murmur a soft ânoâ against his lips.Â
âGood.â He growled, positioning himself above me on the couch, beginning to press hot kisses down my neck, eventually reaching my exposed sternum, and looking up at me through hooded lids for implicit consent to continue, to which I nodded, feverishly.Â
âPlease.â I whispered, hoarsely.Â
He took no time in obliging my request, rising a bit to remove the fabric of my shirt in one, clean swoop and continuing his assault on my chest, leaving open-mouthed kissed, eventually switching to nips and playful bites, as he sucked marks into the swell of my breasts, leaving me letting out delighted sighs and soft moans, which only seemed to encourage him to go lower. I arched my back, screwing my eyes shut, until he felt him stop, and come back to my neck.Â
He murmured against me, close to my ear. I could feel his lips slowly brush the sensitive skin between my ear and neck, barely giving me any real stimulation, but it was enough to drive me crazy anyway.Â
âKeep your eyes open, baby.â He whispers. âI want to see every part of your pretty face when I do this.â He says, returning lower again, leaving little kisses everywhere he could possibly go with his lips. I opened my eyes on command, watching as he went lower and lower, before finding the button on my jeans, slowly undoing them with nimble fingers and moving them off my legs. I could imagine them so vividly inside me, expertly guiding me to pleasure in a way that mine couldnât. But right now, if I wasnât fucked senseless by him right now, Iâd just about lose my mind.Â
âSpencer.â I whispered, breathlessly. âI need you.â I breathed out. âPlease.âÂ
âYou need me to do what?â He asked, smirking as he already began to undo his own belt.Â
âSpencer.â I repeated, firmly, not wanting to say the words.Â
âSay it.â He says, in a much more commanding tone.Â
âSpencer..â I repeat, breathing out again. âFuck. I need-â I waver on the words, biting my lip. âI need you to fuck me. Now.âÂ
His smirk turns into a grin of satisfaction and pride, capturing my lips in yet another passionate kiss. âMm. Wasnât so hard, was it?â He says, cockily. I whined against his lips, tacitly begging him to just get on with it and he chuckles, moving off of my mouth.Â
âAlright. I get it.â He says, moving his lips downwards again, his lips brushing against my underwear, as he began to remove that fabric as well. He nearly moaned when he saw just how wet I really was. It was a bit embarrassing, just from a few touches and words, but it was hard to care when I felt his tongue right on my core, beginning to lap at the hot flesh, reducing me to moans as I knotted my fingers into his hair, arching my back and bucking my hips to feel more of his ministrations. He seemed to understand, hooking his strong arms under my thighs, firmly planting me to the couch we were currently on, continuing. I could feel his moans against me, sending vibrations that only heightened my arousal in that moment. As if that was even possible.Â
And then it was, because I heard him murmur against me.âYou taste-â he paused, using his tongue to lap up more of my arousal. âSo fucking good.â He finished, beginning to now harshly flick at my clit, which caused an entirely new slew of sensations. I recognized my end was fast approaching, and I tugged on his hair, unable to form the words as the white-hot pleasure overtook me quickly, he seemed to understand this without a word, nursing me through my orgasm as my thighs shook around him and he held my hips down. Even then, he didnât stop, continuing to flick his tongue, lapping up my arousal until I had to physically push him away with a soft groan. âSpencer.. Itâs too much.â Even then, he continued, reducing me to nothing but moans, and I heard him whisper. âCome on. One more. Please.â The words unintentionally caused a flutter in my stomach, and in record time I was being pushed towards my second orgasm in a matter of 5 minutes.
His mouth was clearly so much better at this than arguing.Â
I felt him lap up the last bit of my arousal, looking up at me with a glistening chin, and Iâd be lying if I didnât say it was the most erotic sight in the world at that moment. The man that had questioned me at every turn, now in between my legs. He gave a smirk, moving up and giving me a rough kiss, and I didnât hesitate to moan in his mouth when I could taste myself on his tongue. He smiled as he broke the kiss, caressing my cheek with one of his hands. His thumb moved along the smooth expanse of my cheeks.Â
âAre you okay?â He asks, gently, concern in his eyes.Â
I couldnât help but break out into a dazed smile, nodding, a thin cover of sheen over my body, where I was still breathing heavily. âYeah. Iâm good.âÂ
âGood.â He breathed out. âIâm not stopping.âÂ
âI donât want you to stop,â was my response, his shirt coming off before Iâd even finished my sentence.Â
I watched in fascination as he undid his belt, the very sound of it filling me with anticipation and desire. I could feel myself getting more aroused by the second, despite my previous two orgasms. I wanted him, I wanted this so badly.Â
I felt him position himself over me, and feeling the head of his arousal run through my folds. I let out a breathy groan, as I felt him push into me. He let out a moan of his own, shutting his eyes. âYou feel.. So fucking good.âÂ
I whimpered slightly as my body adjusted to him and his size. He was so big, and Iâd never felt full like this before. He noticed this and placed a gentle kiss against my lips, watching my face as it contorted in pleasure and pain. As the pain began to subside, I looked up at him nodding.Â
âMove, please.â I begged, the desperation evident in my voice.
He took no time in obeying my request, beginning to slowly thrust in and out of me. I moaned, feeling his cock stretch me and fill me up in a way I had never been full before. A pleasant sensation bloomed through my lower abdomen, and I could feel him bury his head into my shoulder as he pushed into me, my walls clenching on his length with every movement he gave. He pressed wet kisses into my neck, and I moaned happily at the feeling. In an instant, I could feel him fucking me desperately, placing both of his hands on either side of my face. I could feel my jaw drop, and no sound came out. I was being hurdled towards my third orgasm of the night and it was all at the behest of the man in front of me, plowing into me like it was his job.Â
I moaned loudly, my legs wrapping around his waist in an attempt to keep him buried in my deepest point, feeling my release creeping up on me.Â
âSp-Spencer..â I groaned, attempting to alert him of my impending orgasm, but he simply swooped down, kissing me roughly, which only caused me to moan into his mouth.Â
âI know, baby.â He whispered, in a deliciously dark tone. âCome for me, baby. Wanna feel you make a mess all over my cock.âÂ
It took no more provocation from there, as I felt my hips buck up once more and my thighs shake. I came with a loud moan of his name, my free hand gripping onto him and leaving scratches I knew wouldnât go away for a while.Â
My release seemed to spur him on, the wetness allowing him to fuck into me harder. I watched the man above me lose all control, and it was beautiful. He grunted a bit, and I could feel his hips stutter, chasing after his orgasm.Â
âPlease, Spencer.â I begged. âFill me up, I need to feel you come inside me.â I whispered.Â
It didnât take long after that, after a particularly hard thrust, a warmness filled me at my hilt and Spencer nearly collapsed over me. He gave me a kiss, murmuring into the skin of my neck. âSo perfect, so fucking perfect for me.âÂ
I smiled at the praise, biting my lip. I let my hand traverse over his back, drawing figures into the warm skin. I looked at the man laying on my sternum, looking absolutely fucked out despite being the one to give me three orgasms tonight. âPerfect, you say?â I teased.Â
He looked up at me, kissing my lips softly, before mumbling against them, âMm. Perfect.âÂ
I had a sneaking suspicion the next time we were at work, and heâd have something to say about my work, (because he always did), it wouldnât take long to have him whispering sweet nothings to me in an instant, just like he was now. At least I could do something right on the first try.

YAY REQUESTS ARE BACK- I am a sucker for fluff honestly but can u do a one shot where barista!jaemin has a crush on a customer whoâs coffee order is the same as his (8 shots coffee thingy) hehehe thank you I really love ur posts btw đĽ°đ¤
im literally obsessed with barista jm help!!! tysm for ur request hope u like it (its very small djjdjdkd)!!<3
cw: barista!jaemin, pure fluff, jaemin is whipped for y/n.
jaemin remembers the first time you enter the small coffee shop. he remembers exactly what you were wearing. how your hair were messy and wet because of the rain. how you looked relieved to finally escape the bad weather. the moment you looked up and smiled at him. but what he mostly remembers is the first words he heard from you; "hello, a caffe americano with 6 extra shots please.", at that moment, jaemin just felt like his heart was going to burst out his chest. not only you were the most beautiful person he's never seen but your order was literally the same as him. word for word. he also remembers the way you had to repeat yourself because he zoned out as soon as he heard your voice. "sorry... your name?", "y/n". y/n. this name keep just resonating in his head for the past weeks. he couldn't stop thinking about the small smiles you'll give him everytime you enter the coffee. how you'll sometimes be in rush and look so cute when you panick because you're late for work but just can't leave without your 6 shots of coffee. before that day, jaemin wasn't very excited about his work, always complaining to his friends how work is boring and how much is co workers are annoying but since that day, he never complained again, waking up every morning with hope that you'll come get your usual coffee and that he'll get his usual smile and greetings.
and just like that, jaemin found himself waiting for you every morning, trying to strike up a conversation everytime but just end up stumbling over his words and hand you your order with a friendly smile, waiting for your small thank you. but today is different. today, jaemin was determined to finally talk to you. at least to say other words than "hello" and "the usual?". so when you pass the door, he prepares himself mentally, repeating the few extra words in his head and without even realizing, you're already standing in front of him "hi jaemin", he's still not used to you calling him by his name and the way his cheeks heat up every single time, "hey y/n, the usual right?", you just nod with the same usual smile that makes jaemin's cheeks heat up every single time. "to be honest, i'm surprised you didn't get scared of my order", you let out a small giggle, looking at jaemin, which look up at you with the widest smile, feeling his chest warm up because he's so happy to finally have a real conversation with you (without even being the one to start it). "maybe it's the fact that i literally drink the same drink as you...", he laughs and hands you the hot cup, making sure to wrap a napkin around it. "what? no wayyy! why didn't you tell me before?", you reply, sounding way too excited, not that jaemin hates it but he's just suprised by your reaction. "well... i don't know, i didn't want to sound creepy or something i guess...", he says softly, "you don't sound creepy at all, honestly i feel relieved that i'm not the only one drinking that much coffee.", you both laugh, "well, i'm glad we have this in common", jaemin only realizes what he said when he sees your cheeks heat up and a few seconds of silence follow his last word, "i have to go... but i'll see you tomorrow!", he just nods, still trying to wash his embarrassment away, "thank you for always serving me the best coffee, jaemin, see you!" you offer him a sweet smile before turning around to exit the coffee shop, leaving jaemin standing there in total awe. this small conversation was enough to make jaemin's day, he's never been this happy to be at work. he couldn't wait for tomorrow and even found himself daydreaming about your next conversation the whole day.

If The Octonauts Were Mean Girls Chapter 3
After finishing school, Peso stepped outside and noticed Selva, the girl he had a crush on, immersed in a spirited girls' soccer game. Wanting to be polite, he gave her a friendly wave. When Selva returned the gesture with a smile, Peso felt a shiver run up his spine and a warm blush tint his cheeks. Just then, the sound of a car horn caught his attention, and he saw a sleek silver Lexus nearbyâit was The Plastics.
"Get in loser, we're going shopping!" Dashi called out with infectious energy.
To Peso, Dashi was like a living, breathing Barbie doll, exuding a level of glamour he had never encountered before. Without hesitation, Peso hurried to the car and leaped in, and together they set off for an exciting trip to the mall.
...
The Plastics trio and Peso hit the mall, where Dashi decided to gift Peso the latest Chucks. Little did Peso know, Dashi's generosity had a hidden agenda; she was well aware that penguins and shoes are like oil and waterâthey just don't mix.
As they sipped on their Starbucks concoctionsâDashi with her Caramel Macchiato, Shellington nursing a Caffe Mocha, Barnacles chilling with an iced white chocolate mocha, and Peso keeping it classic with a Caffe Americanoâthey strolled through the mall.
"I'm thinking about joining the Mathletes," Peso mentioned with a grin.
The reaction was instantaneous; Dashi, Shellington, and Barnacles whipped their heads around.
"Oh, no, no, no," Shellington protested with a hint of panic,
Barnacles nodded solemnly in agreement.
"Mathletes are social suicide," Dashi exclaimed. "Count your lucky stars you've got us."
Passing the mall's central fountain, Peso was hit with a wave of nostalgia for the Antarcticâback when the local wildlife was feeling... frisky.
"Oh my god! There's Sophie!" Shellington announced, spotting her in the distance.
"Where?" Barnacles squinted, then spotted her too. "Ah, there she is."
Shellington's jaw dropped as he saw Sophie with another guy.
"She's with your Cousin! Sam!" he blurted out in shock.
"Why would they be together?" Barnacles pondered aloud.
Dashi and Peso glanced over at Sophie and her companion. Dashi, ever the strategist, had a plan brewing.
"Hold up," Dashi started, "Sophie isn't really with Sam. She can't just ditch you like that, Shel. She's such a little... troublemaker. Hand over your phone."
Shellington reluctantly passed his Apple iPhone 11 to Dashi, his worry palpable.
"You're not actually going to call her, are you?" Shellington's voice trembled.
"Do I look like I'm into drama?" Dashi retorted sharply.
"No," Shellington muttered, looking away.
They resumed their mall march as Dashi began to dial Sam's number, the phone ringing ominously...
"Hello," came the reply in a feminine tone.
"Hi, is Samual G. Bear around?" Dashi asked, her voice dripping with sweetness.
"He hasn't arrived yet. Who's asking?" inquired the woman on the other end.
"This is Susan from the clinic. Samual's scheduled for a little 'snip-snip' operation this weekend. Could you have him ring me back pronto? It's kinda pressing, thanks!" Dashi explained.
With a click, she ended the call, returned the phone to Shellington, and stood there, arms folded, oozing triumph, while Barnacles and Shellington couldn't contain their giggles.
"He's definitely not dating anyone now," Dashi declared, her smile thick with irony.
"Right..." Shellington chuckled. "That was absolutely 'Fetch!'"
Laughter erupted as Peso noticed Sam's mom had called. Torn between guilt and satisfaction at Dashi's antics, he managed a hesitant grin, unsure how to react.
...
Post-mall spree, they zoomed off in Dashi's sleek silver Lexus, heading to her place.
Exiting the car, Peso gazed in awe at Dashi's residence; he had never stepped foot in a mansion before.
"Wow... your house is nice," Peso remarked with a smile.
"I know, right?" Dashi responded, sipping her Caramel Macchiato with a grin.
As they entered the expansive house, the vastness of the living room merged seamlessly with the kitchen, showcasing its grandeur.
"I'm home!" Dashi announced, then greeted Koshi, "Hi Koshi."
Engrossed in dancing to "My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard," Koshi greeted them with a smile and a wave, continuing her dance moves.
Dashi's father made his entrance, donning a Paul Lorenzo Men's Pink Slim Fit Suit, and cradling Pinky, the family's galah cockatoo.
"Hey there, how're my best teens?" he beamed.
"Hi, Mr. D, this is Peso," Shellington introduced with a smile.
Mason regarded Peso warmly, sitting down with Pinky. "Hello, welcome to our home," he said, embracing Peso in a tight hug before releasing him.
"Just want you to know, if you need anything, don't be shy, okay? There are no rules in this house. I'm not a regular dad; I'm a cool dad, right, Dashi?" Mason said, smiling at his eldest daughter.
"Please stop talking," Dashi replied with a sarcastic grin.
"Okay..." he answered softly.
Dashi, Shellington, Barnacles, and Peso ascended to her room.
"I'm going to make you guys a humpday treat," Mason declared, heading to the kitchen.
Koshi was still in the living room trying to attempt a Twerk. Meanwhile, when they ascended the stairs to Dashi's room, Peso was astounded by its spaciousness and the vibrant shade of pink that adorned the walls.
"Is this your room?" Peso inquired, shedding his beanie to reveal a tie-dyed shirt beneath.
"It used to be my parents' place," Dashi explained, swapping her heels for comfy slippers, "but I convinced them to swap."
As Shellington and Barnacles ditched their footwear, Barnacles fiddled with the radio, seeking the perfect tune. Peso, meanwhile, perused Dashi's room, spotting a photo of her and Selva in a tight embrace, like two peas in a pod.
"Spin it to 98.8," Dashi suggested, shedding her pink cardigan.
The room filled with the Spice Girls' pop anthem as The Plastics bobbed in sync. Dashi flashed a grin at Peso.
"Bet you can't name the band," she teased.
"Uh... Spice Girls?" Peso ventured, returning the smile.
Laughter bubbled from Dashi as Barnacles scrutinized his reflection, grimacing at the sight.
"Yikes," Barnacles groaned, "I'm all biceps."
"Oh, come off it..." Shellington grumbled, joining the mirror gazing, "My nose is the worst."
"At least you can rock rings," Dashi mused, eyeing her hands, "I've got sausage fingers."
The Plastics faced their reflections, each finding flaws where Peso once saw perfection.
"My hairline is so weird," Shellington lamented, fingers combing through his locks.
"I've got craters for pores," Dashi scrutinized her complexion.
"And my nails are a disaster," Barnacles critiqued his cuticles.
All eyes turned to Peso, awaiting his self-critique.
"Uh..." Peso stammered, grasping for a flaw, "My Morning breath could knock out an elephant..."
"Ew," Dashi grimaced.
Mason burst in, mocktails in hand and a grin wide enough to light up the room.
"Happy hours are from four to six!" he announced, as the teens eagerly snatched the drinks from the tray.
Peso eyed his mocktail with suspicion, then turned to Mason. "Uh... there's no alcohol in this, right?" he inquired.
"Heavens no! Why, you looking to spice up your evening?" Mason chuckled, setting the tray aside. "So, spill itâwhat's the latest buzz? What's everyone tuned into these days?"
"Daddy," Dashi interjected, "could you maybe go polish your glasses and check on Koshi?"
"Sure thing..." Mason agreed, rising to his feet as Pinky swooped in for a smooth landing on her perch. "You kids keep me forever youngâbig thanks for that."
With Mason out of the picture, Barnacles' gaze landed on a neon pink tome labeled 'Burn Book', complete with Dashi's signature smooch. Without a second thought, he pulled it from its hiding spot.
Barnacles couldn't help but grin. "Ah, the memories..."
Dashi, Shellington, and Peso glanced back and caught sight of the notorious book.
"It's been ages since I've seen this," Dashi said with a laugh.
Peso, abandoning his drink, eyed the book with a mix of curiosity and dread. It was the infamous tome of The Plastics, and he was itching to discover its secrets.
"Come take a look, Peso," Shellington urged, tugging at Peso's fin to draw him closer to the polar bear. "It's our Burn Book. We've snipped out yearbook photos and scribbled our 'thoughts' alongside."
Flipping through the pages, they were greeted by the faces of schoolmates, each accompanied by scandalous and downright mean-spirited rumors. Peso's eyes widened in disbelief at the terrible words scrawled across the pages.
"Trang Pat is a grotsky little byotch..." Barnacles quoted
"Still true" Dashi stated
"Miss Norbury is a Drug Pusher..." Shellington quoted
"Still true," Dashi started again
Shellington burst into laughter. They turn a page and Peso sees Tweak's photo
"Tweak is a Space Cow..." Shellington quoted and saw Kwazii, asking, "Who is that? Is it Kwazii?"
"Oh yeah, he's a bit too adventurous for his own good." Peso smiled
The Plastics erupted in laughter as Peso's cheeks blushed a bright shade of pink.
"That's hilarious, we've got to include that," Dashi chuckled.
Later, Peso began to regret his words, pondering if such remarks were only amusing when Tweak made them. Nonetheless, they continued to flip through the pages of The Burn Book.
...
Peso was at the mall, eager to share with Tweak and Kwazii his discoveries about The Plastics' Burn Book. He approached the makeup counter where Tweak was working.
"They have a what?" Tweak gasped in shock.
"It's a Burn Book where they write gossip about our schoolmates," Peso clarified.
Tweak, visibly anxious, pressed on. "Is there anything about me in it?"
Peso paused, his face clouded with worry. He was aware that Tweak was mentioned in the book, but he wanted to spare her any additional stress. Just then, Kwazii joined them, intrigued by the unfolding drama.
"No..." Peso uttered unconvincingly, attempting to conceal his discomfort.
Tweak's anger was palpable as she spoke through gritted teeth. "Those treacherous sharks!" She was seething with indignation. "We have to get our hands on that book!"
"What? No!" Peso exclaimed, his hesitation as clear as a bell.
"Peso, buddy, we're begging here!" Tweak implored, her voice dripping with desperation. "That Burn Book is our golden ticket to unmasking Dashi, the queen of double-crossing."
"Got to side with Tweak on this one," Kwazii interjected, his face all business. "That book's gotta be in our flippers, mate."
"I'm not convinced this is the brightest idea," Peso mumbled, worry creasing his brow.
Tweak massaged her temples, casting a glance at Peso, who was still rocking his signature pink ensemble.
"Listen up," Tweak began, her irritation morphing into resolve. "Evil's a tricky beast. Some parade their wickedness and those who cloak it in sheep's clothing. Dashi's sporting wool and it's high time we shear it off."
...
Peso's mind was a whirlwind, trying to piece together Tweak's grudge against Dashi. In his eyes, Dashi was hardly villainous, and he had this nagging suspicion that Tweak might just be a tad dramatic. As Peso was about to hit the hay, his ringtone shattered the silence. Glancing at the caller ID flashing 'Dashi', he hesitated but ultimately answered.
"Hey there, Dashi," Peso called out cheerily.
"I know your secret!" Dashi declared with a hint of mystery.
Panic surged through Peso like a rogue wave. How on earth did she uncover his secret? Had Shellington blabbed about his not-so-secret crush on Selva?
"Which secret might that be?" Peso uttered, his voice a shaky whisper.
"Shellington let slip that you've got the hots for Selva, my former bestie," Dashi spilled the beans.
"Ah... well... You see, Dashi," Peso fumbled, "It's not exactly as it seems, I assure you-"
"Don't sweat it, I'm not fuming. Just keep your chats with Selva to a minimum, okay? She's a plant-whispering Benedict Arnold. Doesn't that grind your gears, Peso?" Dashi probed.
"Grind my gears?" Peso echoed, baffled. "Why would I be grinding gears?"
"Seriously?" Dashi pressed on. "Shellington sharing your secret with me, then bragging about itâthat's pretty shady of him, right?"
Mulling over her point, Peso had to admit, that Shellington's move was a bit underhanded.
"True, that was rather shady," Peso conceded.
"You really think I'm shady?" Shellington's voice, laced with astonishment, burst into the conversation.
In a flash, Peso realized Dashi had sneakily looped Shellington into a three-way call.
"Just proving a point, Shelly," Dashi quipped. "Catch you both on the flip side."
With the call over, Peso was left to ponder the intricate dance of teenage friendships, far more complex than any sea shanty he'd ever heard.

Cup of Joel - Joel Miller x Reader
Summary:Â A regular of your coffee shop - Tommy - brings his brother with him one dayÂ
Words: 1.6kÂ
Warnings: noneÂ
Notes: idk if I'll make this a two part or a series (also I'm really living up to my nickname of the coffee addict here)
Y/Nâs POV
Coffee. Something so plain and simple yet so many varieties and tastes. As a barista working at a small coffee shop in downtown Austin, Texas, I can't help but agree with the sentiment that coffee is something plain and simple yet endlessly diverse. Every day, I wake up early and make my way to the coffee shop, preparing myself for the rush of customers that inevitably floods in as soon as we open our doors.Â
The sound of the espresso machine hissing and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee fill the air, signalling to our customers that we're open for business. As the day goes on, I take orders, grind beans, steam milk, and pour shots of espresso with the precision and skill of a seasoned barista. But amidst the chaos of the busy coffee shop, I can't help but embellish the lives behind each cup of coffee that I serve. The woman who always sits in the corner nursing a cappuccino is a new mother, desperate for the moment of peace and quiet that comes with this place. The man in the smart suit orders an americano on his way to work, always rushing about and panicking about sleeping through his alarms which makes him almost late for his meetings. As I hand each customer their cup of coffee, I can't help but wonder about the moments of joy, sorrow, and contemplation that will be shared over that simple cup of coffee. For me, the art of being a barista isn't just about crafting the perfect cup of coffee - it's about connecting with people and being a part of their stories, one cup at a time.
The customers are usually the same few with one or two new faces, often students or people who have recently moved to the area. But even though I see some of the same people day after day, I'm always excited to learn something new about them or to see what kind of coffee they'll order next. After all, with so many varieties and tastes to choose from, every day at the coffee shop is a new adventure.Â
Today was no different, Nancy came in and took her seat in the corner with bags under her eyes and a tiredness a first time mother possesses, sipping at her cappuccino. Andy came practically sprinting in, apologising about slamming the door, thanking me for having his latte with three shots of espresso ready for him, paying and charging back out. It always makes me laugh how things like Andy and his lateness never change. Other regulars come and go, a shy student comes in, stuttering her way through an order of a caramel macchiato, surprise on her face when she sees her name written on the cup: Amelia.Â
Other than those three the morning rush came and went, some customers rude and snappy and others sweet and keeping to themselves until all was left with Nancy and another semi regular that I am still to learn the name of. Itâs coming up to lunchtime which means my favourite customer is going to be showing his face with that flirty grin that he thinks will work on me one day. Those dark curls, sun-kissed skin and freckles and those cognac eyes. They remind me of a cup of rich, dark coffee - deep and intense with a warm and inviting tone. His eyes have a certain smokiness to them, much like a bold espresso shot, but with a touch of sweetness that reminds me of a caramel latte. The way his eyes crinkle at the corners when he smiles gives them a comforting and familiar feel, like the first sip of a creamy cappuccino on a chilly morning. Just like a perfect cup of coffee, his eyes have the ability to comfort, energise and uplift me all at once. But, he is too much like my brother for me to ever see him more than a friend no matter how hard he tries and he tries.Â
I know Tommyâs order off by heart: Caffe Americano. I grab the tall cups and place it under the spout of the espresso machine, pulling the handle down to extract two shots of espresso. The aroma of the rich, dark coffee fills the air as the hot water is added to the cup, creating a smooth and bold flavour. I top it off with a bit of whipped cream and caramel drizzle as Tommy has quite the sweet tooth. As if on cue, the bell chimes and Tommy comes strolling in, calling a cheerful, âAfternoon Mouse.â His nickname has me rolling my eyes at him and handing him his cup of coffee before I realise thereâs someone standing just behind Tommy, his eyebrows raised at Tommy who sends him a smug smirk. The man has me fumbling behind the counter, knocking some of the cups down and Tommyâs smug smirk has morphed into a knowing one, âMouse, this is my brother, Joel.âÂ
Joelâs more rugged than his brother, sharp cheekbones and a strong jawline. He has dark, loosely curled hair that looks oh so fluffy and falls in disarray around his face, framing his features perfectly. His eyes are dark and piercing, with a hint of mischief that contradicts his easy smile. Joel stands tall and confident, with broad shoulders and a lean build that suggests he takes goo care of himself. He has a light beard, adding to his rugged and handsome appearance. When he smiles I think my knees give way and my heart tries to skip through my chest and that glint in those mesmerising eyes, the colour of dark roast coffee with hints of hazelnut and chocolate tones buried deep within.Â
Tommyâs addictive laugh snaps me back to reality and I realise Iâm staring, Joelâs hand is held out for me to shake and Iâm flushing, ducking my head out of embarrassment. I take his hand, revelling in the largeness and warmth of his hand enclosing mine, feeling the roughness of the callouses from working as a contractor with Tommy. I introduce myself, âIâm Y/N, pleasure to finally meet you.â Â
Joelâs voice is velvety, with a deep and southern drawl as he responds, âLikewise, Tommy wonât shut up about you.â His eyes twinkle with amusement, as if sharing an inside joke with his brother. I canât help but feel a flutter in my stomach at his words and the way his eyes linger on me as I move back to the coffee machines before realising I donât actually know Joelâs coffee order so I hold the cup up for him to see, âOh, just plain black coffee with do sweetheart.â I drop the cup at the way the pet name rolls of his tongue and am clearing my throat, kicking the now unusable cup towards the bin and retrying with his order.Â
I quickly grab a new cup, placing it under the coffee maker and pressing the button for a regular cup of coffee. The simplicity of it makes me smile to myself as most order very complicated drinks and I think this is the first order of a plain black coffee Iâve had in a few weeks. The sound of the hot water filling the cup echoes in the small space and the aroma of freshly brewing coffee fills the air again. I can still feel Joelâs gaze on me, watching me intently and I try to maintain my composure as I add the lid, by some miracle snapping it on with no spillage or anything. Glancing at Joel once more I swallow thickly and take a risk, grabbing my sharpie and writing his name on the cup, followed by my number. Last minute I cross out the unneeded words on the âwarning! The contents of the cup youâre holding may be extremely hotâ so it says âwarning! Youâre extremely hot.âÂ
Nervously, Iâm handing Joel his cup, feeling my cheeks flush even more as I try to avoid his piercing gaze. He takes the cup with a soft thank you, his fingers brushing mine for a brief moment, sending an electric shock through me. I have to quickly look away, not wanting to give away my very obviously thoughts and feelings. Tommy having to step in with a playful roll of his eyes, âSame time tomorrow Mouse.âÂ
I nod trying to shake off the sudden shyness and send the pair a smile, âOf course, Tommy.â Joel flashes me a warm smiles and gives a small wave before following his brother out of the coffee shop. As soon as the bell chimes, signalling their exit, I let a deep breath, feeling my heart rate slowly return to normal as everything is out of my hands now. If Joel texts or calls me itâs up to him, and I canât do anything about that.Â
As I start cleaning up the small coffee shop, I canât help but replay the encounter over and over in my head. The way Joelâs eyes looked at me, the sound of his voice, the brief touch of his fingers on mine, it all feels like a dream. I snap out of my daze when the next customer walks in, and I put on my best smile, ready to take on the rest of the day. But deep down, I canât help but hope that tomorrow will come sooner rather than later, and that Joel will be there for his plain black coffee once again.
