Delilah wasn't surprised to hear that the man had a surgeon or two crawling around inside him. Part of her wondered if everyone once was in the hospital at some point, considering the city's nature. When he grinned and made another statement, she flushed with complete shame. She didn't intend for it to sound like she was belittling him. She choked on the drink she had been sipping as she stumbled on her words. "Oh my goodness, I swear that's not what I meant when I over-explained my work. I just…overexplain when I'm nervous. I don't…talk to people unless they're my patients. I don't really have…friends."

She was honest with the man, apologetic as she spoke. "Besides, I'm only smart 'cause my sperm donor was some hot shot smarty. Well, and the photographic memory I have. I never forget a thing." She tried to clear the air, tapping her head with her finger slightly as she said it. Thankfully, he didn't seem offended, at least on the surface, as he explained to her how a couple people could sniff her out for what she was. She knew she shouldn't be surprised, but it was hard to believe that Elysian's even had a unique scent that differed them from those around her. She couldn't help but giggle, though, as he mentioned that some people weren't that bright.

"Well, thanks for teaching me something new. It'll help me, in the long run, to know that people can Smell me for what I am." She smiled softly as she sipped her drink. "By the way, I don't think I got your name. Mine's Delilah if you were curious."

Delilah saw the bouncer frown slightly, her head tilting in confusion, until she realized how her statement could be taken. Nodding at his question as she took another sip of her drink, she quickly spoke up. "I'm a Doctor. Well, a Surgeon actually. So, I'm the one who digs inside guts when there is trauma in the body." She explained, smiling slightly as a previous surgery came to mind. Comforting her a bit, making her forget about the people around them for a moment, until the stranger looked around and started to laugh. She flushed a soft pink at his words, feeling slightly embarrassed for gathering so much attention, looking around once more to remind herself of the lingering eyes.

"Do I really smell…like an angel? Is that something you can just…smell? Gods I really have a lot to learn about this place I guess. It really wasn't my intention to gather this many eyes…" She said honestly, turning her doe-like eyes back to Eli, an innocence in them as she watched him shake his head at her like she was a clueless child. At least, that's how it made her feel, but she brushed it off as he spoke up again. "Don't worry, anyone who tries to hassle me and doesn't back off should be scared of me. I'm not one for fights, but they should be aware I cut organs for a living. So, they should be careful, cause one wrong move outside this bar and they end up right on my table. And whoops, my hand slipped." She joked, giggling innocently despite the words she just said. Of course, she didn't mean it, she would never put someone's life at risk for a petty feeling, after all, she took an oath to SAVE lives.

"I'm just kidding by the way. I wouldn't hurt a fly. But I will keep in mind I have someone to do the dirty work for me if someone gets too handsy and needs to leave."

9(2009) 15th Anniversary

My hype for this movie was through the roof. On top of it already looking unique compared to other movies coming out at the time, I saw it was produced by Tim Burton, who I was obsessed with growing up. I was 12 and my best friend, Kal, and I went to see it after school on opening day. It was also the first time I went to the movies without an adult, which my Parents were hesitant about before agreeing to let me see it. Kal and I walked out really liking it, but I became obsessed with it. I loved the characters, voice acting, backstory, visual designs, and world building.

Over the years, I’ve heard some complaints, like the plot being too simple and having little to no character depth, but I think because I saw it at the right time, I was able to fill in those blanks and just appreciated the things it did right. While now, its kind of quaint, I do remember feeling it was more mature and creepy and I liked it. I categorized it under gateway horror, as around the same time, I started delving more into classic horror and monster movies. It’s not necessarily aimed at mature adults, it’s aimed at the kids who are ready to see something a little bit more scary. That’s why the plot is easy to follow and the visuals and tone are intense. Director Shane Acker has talked about making more dark animated movies like this, but nothing’s happened. I know he’s still around working on visual effects for movies and making shorts, but I’d really love to see another feature from him. Hard to believe it’s been 15 years, but It’s still nice to see the 9 fandom occasionally pop up and remind me of simpler times.

perhaps he should've learned by now. perhaps he should have known that his family couldn't be trusted. but there was a piece of him that clung, relentlessly, to the idea that perhaps their cruelty was an exaggerated memory. that the scars he carried and the disappointment they harboured were imaginings he could deny.

he can't deny them now. not with the shackles around his wrist. not with harker here. harker, who looks hungry. or -- well, more aptly he looks starved. elijah knows the difference. elijah knows what this is. proof.
