Delilah looked at him curiously as he mentioned not being awake, she didn't want to pry the poor man, but she couldn't help but want to know more. She thought for a moment, trying to find the correct set of words, but instead decided to play it safe and stick to answering his question. "Well, I don't have a specialty just yet. I'm still a third-year resident, but my plan is to either work in pediatrics or trauma. The way things are in this city though, I may have no choice but to turn to trauma. There aren't really a lot of kids around in the hospital. But I guess that's a good thing." She smiled at the thought because even though she was losing valuable life skills in performing surgery on children, it meant there were fewer innocent lives at risk. She then turned the conversation back to his therapy, her curiosity too much for her.
"I hope this isn't too intrusive, but what do you mean when you say you haven't been...'awake' for a month? Do you have a sleeping disorder or something?"

Delilah's doe brown eyes drifted to the man next to her as his voice reached her ears, noticing how his attire differed from most of the other patrons around them. She took notice of how blue his eyes were, the steel color something she found fitting for his classy attire. She smiled slightly as she sipped her drink, before placing it back down onto the bar. "I see that. Guess it's not every day someone who lived their life as a human gets to come to a city like this one." She said softly, her voice angelic much like her. She took another good look at his attire before she continued.
"From the way you're dressed, I doubt you come here often. So, I may be new, but at least I'm not the only one a bit out of place." She said, picking her drink up to take another sip.

Erebus did not usually frequent the Rusty Nail. But here he was, a tumbler of whisky in one hand and the bar menu in another. Sitting at the bar, he looked almost as out-of-place as the female newcomer who had taken a seat close-by. He would be better suited to Club Desires or VIP/Elite; but he was hungry this evening. And not in the metaphorical sense - he was, quite literally, very much intending to eat his body weight in actual food. The metabolism of a chthonic was fast and ravenous, and he appreciated the Rusty Nail’s ability to deliver carbs at an unusually swift pace.
He watched her a moment, steel blue eyes observing over the cool rim of his glass as he finished its contents before placing it onto the counter and sliding it towards the bartender with a gesture to refill.
“They don’t see many newcomers in here,” he said, putting down the menu, too. A sidelong glance, and he looked at her again. “It’s a regular crowd, and you are fresh meat.”

Delilah felt a sense of comfort knowing that Simon found her company welcoming, making her smile grow slightly as she moved some strands of hair out of her face. She felt a bit exposed without the mask, and she wasn't entirely sure why. She had never felt this way around people before, but maybe it was cause now she knew that these people could see her for what she truly was. She pushed the feeling down as his words hit her ears, making her realize he was right. Being glued to her work as much as she was, wasn't healthy, not in the slightest. She wasn't sure she could change the way she lived her life, as her only comfort has always been the hospitals and her patients.
"I know you're right...but part of me also knows that if I miss one moment, life could be lost cause I'm not there. It would..." She shook her head for a second as memories flooded it for just a moment, her smile dropping as she sighed. "I would do anything for my patients, even if it means sleeping on a cot in the hospital. I know it's not entirely the best, but it keeps them alive." She looked back up at Simon as she took a long sip of her drink. When she heard his offer, she smirked slightly at the context. She knew that he meant he would probably buy her something for her apartment, or even build it, given his large build and rough hands.
But, to any other stranger, those words may have been taken into an entirely different context. She couldn't help but giggle as she thought about it a bit more, resting a hand on his shoulder as she let him see her smirk. "I think that would be lovely, Simon. As long as you aren't just trying to make it more cozy, by getting into my pants." She joked, teasing him as she laughed aloud, making her snort lightly.

Delilah sipped her drink as the man on the bar stool next to her spoke, taking his words in before placing her glass back down on the bar top. She couldn't help but smile slightly at his comment, opening her lips to speak. "Well, technically, I still didn't 'start' a conversation with anyone. Seems I just have the luck of being approachable." She leaned forward against the bar, her legs crossing as she kept herself seated on the bar stool. Her eyes gazed into her glass as she listened to her company, letting him speak as she thought about his words. He was right in a sense, complaining wasn't going to make her any friends.
She couldn't help but feel distant from others, her hand on the glass tightened a bit as she thought about why she chose to be that way. She sighed gently as she glanced back at Cassidy, taking a second to choose her words wisely. "It's not that simple though...is it? I can put myself out there and still end up with no friends. Sometimes playing on the safe side can be...lonely...but isn't it best? Plus, I never said I wanted anyone to get close to me." She scoffed at the thought as she quickly asks for another drink, before downing the rest of the one she already had. "I've learned my lesson when it comes to letting people get too close..."

Delilah brought her drink back to her lips as Haru asked his question, contemplating how to answer it. Her eyes turned back to the eyes on her, finding some to have physically appealing features but noting the malicious intent in their eyes. To an extent, the attention excited her, but it also terrified her. She shivered slightly at some sights, not finding them as comforting as others. She looked back to Haru as she sipped her drink again before placing the glass on the bar top beside her. "I...I think it sorta scares me. Not to mention...I feel sorta bad they seem to have such...high expectations."
She answered him honestly, sighed softly, and looked at her glass for a moment. "These people probably expect my mind to be as beautiful as my body. But...I tend to scare people off when I can't help but talk about cutting people open. Plus, I don't trust these people to excite me how I'd like. I like the attention...but it's not their attention that excites me." Her eyes turned back to Haru as she found herself enjoying his attention. After all, she was not blind to the attention he had given her when she walked in. He was the only one she recognized, so he was the first to catch her eye. Her thoughts about her fellow doctor halted when he revealed she had projected her thoughts.
Her cheeks flushed slightly at this revelation, her eyes turning away from Haru as she found herself stumbling on her words. "I...Well...You see...I didn't mean to..." She was flustered, her innocence showing as she grabbed her drink and finished it in a few gulps. She placed the glass down as she tried to regain her composure from her slip-up. "Since I have to be honest now...I will admit...I feel you may not be what you seem on the surface." She looked back at him as she bit her lip gently.
"But...Part of me is kinda...excited with the idea that I don't know what you're really like."

Delilah wasn't surprised to hear that the man had a surgeon or two crawling around inside him. Part of her wondered if everyone once was in the hospital at some point, considering the city's nature. When he grinned and made another statement, she flushed with complete shame. She didn't intend for it to sound like she was belittling him. She choked on the drink she had been sipping as she stumbled on her words. "Oh my goodness, I swear that's not what I meant when I over-explained my work. I just…overexplain when I'm nervous. I don't…talk to people unless they're my patients. I don't really have…friends."
She was honest with the man, apologetic as she spoke. "Besides, I'm only smart 'cause my sperm donor was some hot shot smarty. Well, and the photographic memory I have. I never forget a thing." She tried to clear the air, tapping her head with her finger slightly as she said it. Thankfully, he didn't seem offended, at least on the surface, as he explained to her how a couple people could sniff her out for what she was. She knew she shouldn't be surprised, but it was hard to believe that Elysian's even had a unique scent that differed them from those around her. She couldn't help but giggle, though, as he mentioned that some people weren't that bright.
"Well, thanks for teaching me something new. It'll help me, in the long run, to know that people can Smell me for what I am." She smiled softly as she sipped her drink. "By the way, I don't think I got your name. Mine's Delilah if you were curious."

Delilah watched in confusion momentarily as her companion reached up, and his hands landed on his mask. She was stunned momentarily to see how well his face matched his kind eyes. He looked charming, and his hair was longer than she had expected but fit his bearded face. She sipped her drink and stared momentarily, taking in his appearance before his words brought her out of her dazed state. She hadn't even realized she had projected her thoughts until he answered them with kind words, her cheeks flushing a bit as she turned her head in embarrassment. She tried to clear her mind so she wouldn't let another thought slip out unwillingly.
"...I didn't mean for you to hear that...but your words bring me comfort. Plus, I find it a little less lonely when I seem to be finding myself decent company." She slipped her hand up as she spoke, sliding the mask down her face and revealing her delicate features. Her cover now hanging off her neck from the ribbon that held it together behind her head. She turned to him and smiled softly, comfortable in his presence. She was happy to know he understood her better than any human could, giggling as he mentioned his home behind his work. "If only I could live so close to the hospital. I'd sleep right next to the Pediatrics ward if I could. Though, I doubt the hospital would let me live at work."
She laughed softly at the thought. She wondered if this would be the start of a friendship, as they seemed to get along so well. She hoped it would be, needing someone she could at least talk to besides her coworkers and patients. "I originally wanted to do trauma, but things changed when I 'changed.' I couldn't watch those kids suffer, knowing I could do something to help. I've always loved children. So, I'm definitely leaning toward pediatric surgery. The kids at my old hospital even nicknamed me Dr. Angel. Silly, I know, but I kept it even after my transfer." Her laughs died off into soft giggles as she genuinely enjoyed talking about the children.

Delilah looked the man up and down, noticing the smirk appear on his face as he did the same. She smiled again at his understanding, her mask hanging in her hand as she spoke up. "Thank you for not being upset. I have a habit of bumping into people tonight. It's been quite the dilemma. And thank you for your condolences as well. They are much appreciated." She laughed softly as she remembered her company from the beginning of the evening. It seemed she was growing a habit of bumping into attractive gentlemen. Something she wouldn't complain about; after all, she seems to be finding herself pretty lucky so far.
She waited for him to order his drink before she called herself a Vodka Soda. Finding liquid courage often made her more social in situations such as these. She turned her attention back to him as he asked her if she was new in the city. "I am. Only moved here a month ago, actually. I work at the City Hospital. Doubt you've seen me around unless you've needed a surgery or two."

Delilah felt drawn in by the wolf's deep laugh. It sounded so sweet, almost like honey, despite his deep voice. It comforted her to laugh with him rather than having someone laugh at her. She felt a sense of relief from the act of someone actually enjoying her jokes and comments. His words caught her ears, making her laughs die off into soft giggles as she gave his build a good look, not really having a chance to before. She had to admit he was significantly larger than her, and his suit complimented his muscles.
"You are pretty robust. I'm quite lucky you only breezed against my back. I'll surely make sure to have no injuries the next time I bump into you." She took another sip of her drink, letting him speak as she noticed his eye gaze at hers for a second. She briefly brought her hand to her mask, ensuring it was still stuck to her face and not crooked. His chuckles distracted her from her actions as she took in what he said. Living surrounded by people with powers similar to hers was a lot to live with. 'It feels...Lonely.' A thought she couldn't help but project out loud came out of her mind as she looked down for a moment.
She didn't seem to notice, though, as she put on a little smile to ease that empty feeling in her chest. "It is a lot, but I have seemed to manage so far. I'm able to be my true self now. A true Elysian inside and out without worrying about people finding it out and using it against me." She giggled softly at his seeming concern for her home life. "My place is comfy enough. Just haven't gotten around to looking for a mattress. I was never one for being home anyways. I spend more time working than anywhere else because I love to do it. It's when I feel most needed." She answered honestly, smiling as she thought about all the lives she gets to save and all the lessons she learned. "I do work at the hospital. I'm one of the Third Year Surgical residents. I mainly work in the trauma unit, but sometimes I slip in some shifts in the pediatric unit."
She sounded proud as she spoke about her work, her genuine smile returning and her eyes lighting up joyfully.

Delilah honestly felt anxiety in her gut when she bumped into the man's arm, firmly grasping him felt wrong when he was sitting here mourning not even seconds before. She was completely prepared for any adverse reaction she may receive but was surprised as his annoyed response turned chilled. She watched him rise, distracted as she took in his appearance, listening to his words carefully. She committed the name he said to memory, Lucy, someone who must have died during the tragedy. She blinked for a second after he asked for her name, noting how he called her a beauty which made her cheeks tint a soft pink. She quickly removed her firm grip from his arms, noticing the way he smirked.
"Hello...Vincent. I'm Delilah...Delilah McLaine. I wish I could have met you under...better circumstances. I was just trying to commit these names to memory...to honor them. I wasn't here when things happened, but I did lose someone. I'm sure it was much harder for those here. I know it doesn't mean much...But I am sorry for your loss." Her voice was soft as she spoke, her eyes turning to the graves again. Her mind brushed to the thought of her biological mother for a moment, before she shook the thought away.

BACKGROUND
Benevolent and generous. You have dedicated your life to others, working for charities and helping those who are most desperate in our world. You have always been called an ‘angel’, so it’s no surprise that’s what you became when demons invaded and threatened humanity. The poorest places were the worst hit; they didn’t have sturdy buildings to hide inside or strong weapons to use to defend themselves. That’s where you were when it happened, helping those less fortunate, terrified by the cracks that opened up and let demons through. You awakened as an Elysian and drove away the devils, but when it finished, the community couldn’t remember what had happened; they simply looked at you and thought you’d revealed yourself as an angel. You stayed for a while, using your new powers to help them re-build their village. But they revered you too much and you were afraid that things would take a dark turn; there was talk about making you a sacrifice, using your blood to make them more blessed. Scared, you understood it was time to leave. You hoped they would thrive without you and bid them goodbye, roaming instinctively to where you could sense more of your own species: Covaire City. Kind-hearted and trusting, you have a pure soul. This probably isn’t the most natural place for you, but where else could a fallen angel go?
HEADCANON
Delilah was born with a photographic memory, making it easy for her to surpass her peers in medical school, being top in her class when she graduated. This makes her highly qualified as she remembers the procedures she’s read.
Delilah was offered an internship at the best hospital in her town but rejected their offer. Her choice of internship and residency was at the hospital her birth mother was at, to the surprise of her friends. The hospital she worked at had little to no equipment due to the poor area they were in, so Delilah spent most of her nights sleeping at the hospital in empty rooms. Delilah will likely have the same behavior at Covaire due to habit.
Delilah was at the hospital with the children when the demons broke through the cracks, not once leaving the sides of the children in the ward. It wasn’t till the Awakening, that she was deemed the ‘Angel’ of her small town. She remained in town for three years to help restore things.
Delilah has a passion for saving lives, so she surprised people around her when she saved a bleeding boy with her blood, putting herself in a coma for a few months. When she recovered, there were words about sacrificing her and using her blood to save others.
Delilah applied to a few hospitals out of town shortly after, landing a few jobs that piqued her interest. But none were as interesting as Covaire City, the land of the supernatural. Covaire Hospital is where she chose to move to finish her residency, setting up the interview a few days after arriving in town.
SECRET AND/OR DEVELOPMENT
Delilah was the firstborn daughter of a teenage mother, unable to care for her child and ultimately giving her up for adoption. Her twin sibling happened to be given to another family, most not looking to adopt and care for twins. Delilah does not know about her twin and has been in the dark about what happened to her sibling. (Could be a future Character or NPC. Preferably Fraternal twin.)
Delilah has not hidden the fact that she is Elysian, but has hidden the fact that she doesn’t have full control over her abilities. When she is in emotional distress or fear, her senses can overwhelm her and cause ringing in her ears. Another ability she has yet to master is telepathy, her thoughts often drifting into the minds of others mid-conversation.
Delilah’s biggest secret is her virginity, as most people assume a woman her age at least has a little experience. However, she has not kissed anyone before, making her as pure as they come. She always feared dating would get in the way of her studies and avoided it when she was younger. As she got older, she chose to distract her body in different ways, having a dirty mind that others don’t often see. But, part of her was still too innocent for this city it seems. But maybe that will change depending on all the people she meets.
Delilah would benefit most from making a group of friends, as she has never really been close to others before. Preferably people who will influence her to do things outside of her comfort zone. She would risk her own life to save people she could get so close to. She probably won’t settle down for a while and have multiple partners as she explores her sexuality.
PERSONALITY
Delilah has always been honest and selfless, believing that kindness was the only way to stand up to others. People describe her as the light that tarnishes a dark room, her energy seemingly infectious to those around her. She often spent her time helping others, giving her time to charities and non-violent protests. She never failed to impress, often being popular amongst her friends, even with her short temper. Some sought her affections more than others, but she kept herself virtuous. Delilah made this decision cause she was never interested in having distractions in her life, having goals early on to be a doctor one day and save lives as best she can.
Most assumed this was inspired by her adoptive parents being Surgeons, but it was to help her birth mother from the disease eating away at her. Though she is known to be very intelligent, she is still seemingly Naïve when it comes to trusting people. Delilah often gave her trust away to individuals who did not deserve it, making it hard for her to accept the pain that comes with betrayal. Which also made it harder for her to trust people with her love, leaving her to close that option out of her life. The darker side of Delilah is her desire, as even though she had never tainted herself by sleeping with another person, she had experimented with herself. Often watching herself in the mirror, imagining a person under her telling her how dirty she is.
She had touched herself in thousands of ways and watched lots of porn to keep herself from falling into her desires. Depending on her mood, and how many drinks she has had, she can be easy to get into bed. If she’s mad, she will not let you touch her.

Delilah had spent a lot of the Gala inside, trying to converse with the many strangers hiding their true faces behind extravagant masks. She eventually grew tired of the big crowds inside, noticing how some of the patrons headed towards the garden's in order to mourn those who died. Part of Delilah felt like she shouldn't intrude on such a place, not truly knowing the pain the city went through four years prior, only knowing the pain her own town went through. But, the other part of her, wanted to pay her respects to those who had died, wanting to honor the life they gave even if she didn't know them. As she walked through the gardens, her heels echoing across the stone pathways as she glanced at each grave. Her mind now memorizing each of the fallen as she passed them, reminding herself to never forget the names of those who died.
She slowly slipped her hands up to take off her mask, finding comfort in having the gems no longer glued to her skin. She stopped when someone stood, catching her off guard as she hadn't been paying attention. Seemed she had a habit of bumping into people when she didn't mean to, at least her at the Gala. She quickly looked up, apologizing as she grabbed the man's arms gently to keep her balance. "Oh my god. I am so sorry to disturb you. I shouldn't have intruded..." She lost train of thought when she saw his sad expression, realizing he had just been mourning someone.
"I'm so sorry...I didn’t mean to interrupt your grieving. I swear."
