Marcella was nervous and that on itself was a strange feeling for her. Usually it was under pressure when she thrived the most, but apparently it was work pressure that allowed her to explore her best abilities. This, right here, were waters she didn't know how to thread in and the uncertainty was written on her features while she carefully sat on the bed next to him. If it was any warmer Marcella's cheeks were bound to have already gone scarlet but at least one positive thing could be taken from the moment that they found themselves in. A short, frustrated huff left her parted lips as the woman shifted nervously in her spot, too high-strung to keep in one place. "Well, if you insist on me being the one to say it out loud... our best option is to keep warm together while the storm passes. And hope that it won't take long for the power and heating to return." Her shoulders shrugged as if it wasn't that big of a deal when, in fact, it was exactly that. One look throughout the window told her enough of the severity of the storm outside and she knew that a lot of warnings had been issued just a few hours prior. "If you have nothing against it, of course."

She was sure Raleigh had mentioned it before, or she had asked in the past, but asking again wasn't going to hurt.

catalina would had been best served to have moved on and forgotten about raleigh. she should have gave herself time to heal and really tried to forget about the man however she couldn’t. no matter how hard she tried she just…couldnt.  when he told her that he wouldnt forget it only made her heart pound faster. it was the little moments like this that made her hold on that there was hope for the two of them even if there wasn’t. she had swallowed hard feeling a lump in her throat. why was she allowing herself to get so emotional over this.. over him. “i just dont know what i was expecting having us come out here.. most exs dont hang out and i guess for this purpose. during college, raleigh was aware of how his actions could effect the people around him. he was the typical college frat guy with money, but he didn't cross lines. he was just in his own world with his ' friends '. he didn't bother having a real relationship for the sole reason of what's unfolding in front of him now. there was always a part of him that had a feeling that when he involved himself in a proper relationship, that he would slip into his old ways. " i can tell you right now, i won't forget. " he did in fact, remember the shared laughs and overall bliss of their past rendezvous. he just didn't think much of it until it was gone. I’m so sorry if you’ve already answered this somewhere, but how do you design your characters?

I’ve been trying to make an OC from the prohibition era and it turns out there’s basically nothing to work with for men’s outfits, so I’m curious how you made this many that look unique and fitting to the characters

There is so much to work with, though! You will tend to find more of a focus on variety in women's fashion, but there is still quite a lot of menswear to ogle too. I suppose it's just a matter of searching out ideas and inspiration in the rights corners. Here are a few suggestions:

Old Clothing Catalogues -

Collections from Sears-Roebuck and other popular clothing retailers are pretty easy to find compiled into relatively inexpensive books, or just floating online.

A fair bit of it is in the public domain now.

--Here's an entire 1922 catalogue of stuff to flip through.

Contemporary Artwork -

Some phenomenal illustrators were working in this field amidst the "Golden Age of Illustration" and featured prominently on the covers of magazines and on the ads inside. There was a lot of emphasis on fashion.

Collier's and The Saturday Evening Post are a couple of the more prominent and easily searchable resources. The costuming on the cover art always has a lot of personality.

There's Rockwell, of course, and it's almost impossible to go wrong with J. C. Leyendecker. He's probably best known for his Arrow Collar ad art, but even his sock ads are like…

There were numerous other amazing and influential illustrators working at the time too. Here's a list of some of them. Here's a bonus Henry Raleigh featuring some of his fabulously-dressed people.

There are so many of them! If you want historical accuracy, be wary of write-ups pulling all of their references from film and television. There's nothing wrong with using those for inspiration if you aren't too concerned with historicity, but there are some pretty comprehensive and well-researched things out there with more of an eye on actual fashion history too:

Photos at Large -

If you aren't sure where to start, image searching for any of Hollywood's early celebrities will typically turn up a bevy of production stills and promotional photography featuring a variety of fashions. Here's a random Getty images search for Harold Lloyd. A lot of standard 3 piece suits, but a lot of stuff with added character too.

Photography was generally quite accessible by the 1920s, though, and you can find a lot of authentic photos of people from all walks of life, out in the wild wearing all sorts of clothes.

This is by no means the limit to the resources available, but hopefully it'll provide some leaping-off points for designing looks for your characters!

Camille was in need of some sisterly time so she was glad that Raleigh was home at night, for once. She had spent her evening out on the patio before she headed back in making her way towards Raleigh's room. Knock knock. "I'm coming in." She walked inside Raleigh's room and plopped herself on the bed next to her. "I need some advice." She stated. The carnival had passed and her head was somewhat clearer than before, but not so. She at least had Raleigh to talk some sense into her if that's what she needed.

Look at the long entrance hall. Lots of closets and a 2 bench drop zone.

Then you enter the living room entertaining space with abstract art feature walls.

This home is made for entertaining with a full-size wet bar. It features 2 large coolers and a cabinet.

Entering the ground floor thru the garage, you'll see a home gym.

There's also a workroom.

And, then you can take this lively looking elevator upstairs to the main living space.

The open concept family room/kitchen is on the top level.

This is very nice. I like the color of the cabinets and the waterfall treatment of the quartz on the island. The counter seats 4.

The half bath on this floor.

There's also a formal dining room.

The window wall in the dining room has a view of the private outdoor space off the balcony.

Nice primary bedroom is actually on the floor below the main living area.

It has a walk-in closet.

And a large ensuite. Walk across the ensuite and there's a door to the home office.

Great built-ins.

Plus a closet. I guess it can also be used as a bedroom.

Around the back of the building there's a garage.

You really need an elevator for this home b/c it's 4 floors high and the kitchen is on the top floor.

Raleigh had a bit of a reputation. So if anyone wondered into his room they wouldn't be quite so surprised to find Raleigh in the position he was in with Sola. With him pressed against the bed with her straddling him. One hand on her hip as she leaned forward. A groan at her actions.

When Pacific Rim (2013) came out, I was just out of college, about four months into my first steady job (working at Dunkin' Donuts for minimum wage), and excited about the fact I had an income. Unfortunately I was also deeply into a phase where, when I watched a movie or played a game I really liked, I'd buy a tie-in novel and read it.

Most of these things suck. Practically everything by William C. Dietz.

All except the Pacific Rim tie-in novel. Which in and of itself isn't particularly impressive, and makes some changes I don't like (for example, Raleigh kisses Mako at the end), but it had one thing going for it:

Almost every chapter ended with a dossier or some other bit of cool extended lore and fuck it was awesome. It's given me brainworms for a decade. I still think about those one-two page dossiers and little snippets

some notes about him under the cut: (this idea has consumed my brain)

His hair changes color based on the sky near him when in god form, it's usually just "sky blue" in human form

When he gets especially emotional it sometimes affects the sky around him

He's the god of loyalty/devotion due to his role "supporting" the other celestial gods

However, he's closest to Astrus as he was essentially "born" from the spaces between the stars

He's basically the patron god of first mates - when the Roger Pirates landed on Raftel, he was drawn the most to Raleigh

He's also the god of storytelling (because of canon Deuce's dream to write a book)

Some of his powers include telekinesis-like spatial manipulation and controlling clouds (ex. the different types on Sky Islands)

His and Ace's first meeting went like: "Oh man, sailing around like a human is way harder than it looks, I can't believe I'm already shipwrecked" -> "There's another person trapped here? I'd better help I guess" -> *gets closer and makes eye contact* "IT'S YOU!?" for both of them
