batman #333
[ID: three panels of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul over the course of a day. In the first one, Bruce has his cowl on but is sitting shirtless on their bed in the early dawn hours after getting severely injured on patrol the night before. Talia rushed to help him with his injuries as he started to talk about the burdens and trials of tomorrow—which caused Talia to caress his face and promise, “There will be time to worry of the future soon enough. But for now you must relax... You need comforting. I can give you all you need... And more.” Bruce admits, “Talia, you tempt me...”
In the second panel, it's the same day but they're dressed to go outside the ski resort they're taking refuge in. Talia is holding onto his arm as he was talking about the mission before he tells her, “But that's tomorrow. Tonight, well... First, dinner.” Talia smiles softly and prompts, “And then...?” Bruce responds, “Then we'll discuss that comforting you mentioned earlier.”
In the third panel, it's that night. They had dinner and dodged an assassination attempt, which caused Bruce to start to talk about the even bigger dangers that awaits them tomorrow. Talia gently tells him, “The moon is so beautiful, Bruce. Too beautiful to be wasted worrying.” They kiss in front of the moonlight and Talia reminds him, “We talked about comforting...” END ID]
#hope you guys don't mind I'm now just posting all the panels i was gonna use for that thingy here#because like.... ough.#just them being sad moon themes.... also i was telling CJ this but over and over by sinatra themed.... yea.... :(#bruce's overthinking and anxiety causing him to cockblock himself consistently is so.#also he hasnt slept once in 48 hours i KNOW hes gonna be a dead fuck 😭😭#girl leave him you deserve so much better..... ill eat u out.... we can sway in the moonlight together.....#c: batman | i: 333#crypt's panels#bruce wayne#talia al ghul#brutalia#also ignore i sloppily edited that first panel entirely JFIFHFK

C: Hi there! Even if I've been reading dick Grayson(and in turn batfamily) fics for a few weeks now, I've never actually watched/read DC stuff because even if I liked superheroes, I'm not invested enough to read the actual comics. The most I watched was the Teen Titans 2003 cartoon(which I love). I was brought into interest cause I was brought in through crossovers of other fandoms (which may be hated by some/many😅)
To give myself context, I tried to read around for Robin, and imagine my surprise there's more than one? Which, okay mantle thing I guess. But in the end, Dick Grayson caught my attention(not rlly for his looks and design, but more of his heroism and entire personality and affect in the DC world). Which leads to looking at other tumblrs and I love reading yours and when you answer the asks cause it's so much easier for me to understand the kind of person Dick is and how he interacts with the world.
Sorry for this long context, but I just want maybe your opinion, what if your opinion in the combination of how Dick Grayson should be written for him to Thrive
- Should he stay in Gotham, being in with the batfamily more? Soloing in Bludhaven? Staying with the titans? Or others?
- what about his romantic relationships? Who should be is one true one(based on canon gfs), or maybe stay single? (Just gonna be biased, but I've only knew about dickbabs and dickkory (but I heard he has other girlfriends and I've remember reading he was almost married...a few times??) but dickkory had always been for me)
- What about mentally wise? (Of course, I do think Dick needs a long vacation because of all the trauma that he has to go through), but even if I like the idea of Dick being admired for his looks because he deserves it, but I do rmbr posts that he is uncomfy with this(sexualisation, Def only staying true to the person he loves (then there's the whole...Tarantula and more thing)
Tbf, I do think is a little bit of all is what makes Dick, Dick. Haha
Sorry for the long ask, feel free to not answer because i just needed to get this out😅. I know it's actually bad I'm reading fics without canon knowledge for personality, but your posts makes me understand him more that I understand what's real and what's fanon in fics (that makes me..ugh.. but I read anyway for plot cause i don't know better)
But thank you anyway for reading this and I love your content!
(last one for this ask I swear: I've been seeing stuff where Robin name is actually Dick's mom calling Dick that. Then it's passed down as a mantle starting from Jason without Dick consenting. I tried to read at wiki, maybe I missed out but I can't find anything. Is it true? Does the other bats (except Bruce and Alfred?) know the actual meaning? Because as much as I love Dami, the whole bloodson, birthright to take the mantle of Robin beside Batman give me ugh feelings if it's true) :C
First of all, thank you so much!! I'm so happy to hear you like my stuff <333!!
I think it's fine that you started in the fandom since I sort of started out that way too lol. I had only watched Teen Titans Animated show and Young Justice before I got into fanfics and my first comic I ever read was actually Teen Titans (2011) which was Tim's run. It's been a journey.
Dick's personality was also what captivated me so here I am!
"Should he stay in Gotham, being in with the batfamily more? Soloing in Bludhaven? Staying with the titans? Or others?"
That's a really good question and a complex one. Ironically, for being such a people person, Dick seems to be doing best when he's by himself. When he's soloing, he has a sense of freedom and independence that he's been craving for a long time. The whole reason he left Bruce was because he felt like Bruce was suddenly treating him like a kid, like someone to look after, when he had been treating Dick like a partner the whole time. When Dick feels like his independence is being stepped on, it unsettles him. This is another reason why the Tom Taylor run and Dick's relationship pisses me off but that's for another time. As much as he likes Gotham, he loves Bludhaven. He thinks it's a dirty, crime-filled city, sure, but he loves it there.
He's a little crazy like that.
He doesn't have the same attachment to Gotham that Bruce does. Instead he feels that for Bludhaven.
The only reason I'm saying Dick is better off staying alone than with the Titans is because of his leadership mentality. There's a comic that I forgot the name of but Dick teams up with members of the Justice League and they trapeze through a jungle under the orders of this corrupt military general. He teams up with Arthur and automatically starts commanding people to which Aquaman tells him off, saying this isn't the Titans. Dick is genuinely sorry and backs off. For a minute. But immediately goes right back into command mode but Arthur lets it go, realizing that Dick's not conscious of it and that his behaviour is automatic. "Too many leaders" he calls the situation in his head. For Dick, the Titans have become a responsibility now. He loves them like crazy but they look up at him automatically for directions and order and he's gotten so used to leading them that it's his go to mode.
He just likes doing stuff without someone hovering over his shoulder or having to take care of others.
"what about his romantic relationships? Who should be is one true one(based on canon gfs), or maybe stay single? (Just gonna be biased, but I've only knew about dickbabs and dickkory (but I heard he has other girlfriends and I've remember reading he was almost married…a few times??) but dickkory had always been for me)"
Yeah, I've actually loved almost all of his romantic relationships. I hate Dickbabs but every other one has been fantastic. Kori was great for him.
Action Comics (1938) Issue #618
Dick says it again here. He used to envy Roy's freedom. He's also said in another comic that he fell in love with Kori for her freedom.
Secret Origins (1986) Issue #13
You're right, he has gotten almost married a few times
The first time was with Kori
The New Titans (1988) Issue #100
But then
The New Titans (1988) Issue #100
their pastor gets vaporised and body-controlled Raven feeds the soul of one of Trigon's children into Kori and she goes crazy but she recovers but it's a whole ordeal. In the end they don't get a chance to complete their marriage. They were spectacular together though. The only reason their wedding didn't go through is because the Batfam writers wanted Dick back so they took him from the Titans' writers and they needed a big dramatic scene to cut him off from the Titans. Another reason why Barbara was deaged and created as a love interest- to gatekeep him in the family.
He's also gotten married to Barbara before the retcon though.
Batman Family Issue #11
But here they were forced to by Maze and they went along with it and tricked him. At the end though, they just grab a bite to eat.
Ngl I actually would've supported this marriage. I really love this Barbara. Yes the age difference is a bit much but whatever, I still like them.
Dick and Barbara have gotten married in an alternate timeline.
Convergence: Nightwing/Oracle Issue #2
yeah, definitely didn't like this one.
Dick's also gotten fake married to a woman because Batman and Dick thought she was killing her husbands after marrying them so Dick married her to see if it was true.
Nightwing (1996) Annual #1
I liked her. She wasn't the killer and Dick did a fantastic job raising her son but even though she loved him, he didn't love her and they divorced amicably. I wish I could see more of her and her son though.
To be completely honest, my favorites for Dick are Kori and Bea.
Bea was a fantastic partner. She was understanding, loving, caring, and responsible. She was there when he was Ric Grayson and just loved him for who he was.
Nightwing (2016) Issue #53
If Kori's truly out of the picture, then Dick really should've settled down with her.
Nightwing (2016) Issue #57
She and Kori, they don't tell Dick what to do or who to be. They let him be free which is why I loved them an extraordinary amount. I'm a sucker for soft moments and Bea and Dick are couple goals.
Nightwing (2016) Issue #62
They give him the freedom he craves.
"What about mentally wise? (Of course, I do think Dick needs a long vacation because of all the trauma that he has to go through), but even if I like the idea of Dick being admired for his looks because he deserves it, but I do rmbr posts that he is uncomfy with this(sexualisation, Def only staying true to the person he loves (then there's the whole...Tarantula and more thing)"
I think Dick does need a break. His life has been a series of unfortunate events but despite all that, I think he loves it that way. Dick loves the thrill of adventure. It's the heart of who he is and why he became robin. The excitement he gets when fighting or doing crazy stunts - he loves all of it and that is his coping mechanism. I guess in order for him to thrive, Bruce needs to stop dumping all his trauma and stop expecting him to be there for him at all times of the day. Dick keeps getting dragged back to Gotham to take care of Bruce and his problems and he would go in a heartbeat but he's much happier wacking his own goons in Bludhaven. But since Bruce is so codependent on Dick, this pattern's not gonna stop anytime soon.
Truth be told I also like Dick being admired for his looks. I don't like him being called out by it though. First of all why would you comment "hot booty" to someone? It's degrading and humiliating even if you think it's a compliment. Some things are better left untold. But regardless of what people think, Dick will always be pretty and everyone in the DC universe knows this. Heroes, civilians, villains - they're all attracted to him on some level because he's so beautiful. And honestly? I'm all for it! Because that boy is the prettiest human in existence and he deserves that recognition. Just not vocally or physically.
The best thing is that Dick's beauty has no bearing on his mentality toward people. This man will choose one person and stick with them forever. He values intimacy and trust and love in his relationships which is why he's so attached to each one. This plays a massive role in his relationship with Kori. He would never cheat. Actually in all the future comics, after his spouse passes away or leaves, he never remarries. The only one exception was Batman Beyond (2016). The only one and he remarries Barbara after his wife passes away. Aside from that he remains a single parent. That's how dedicated he is.
"I've been seeing stuff where Robin name is actually Dick's mom calling Dick that. Then it's passed down as a mantle starting from Jason without Dick consenting. I tried to read at wiki, maybe I missed out but I can't find anything. Is it true? Does the other bats (except Bruce and Alfred?) know the actual meaning? Because as much as I love Dami, the whole bloodson, birthright to take the mantle of Robin beside Batman give me ugh feelings if it's true)"
Yup Dick's mother called Dick Robin.
Nightwing (2011) Issue #0
Robin (1993) Annual #4
Here's a couple but there are more instances of his mom calling him Robin.
Dick had no idea Bruce passed on the Robin costume. He finds out through the newspaper because Bruce is pissed at Dick. Like he's so mad that when he told Dick to leave, Dick actually left.
You know how there's a saying about not being able to take back words of anger? Bruce is feeling that heavily. He already had suspicions that Dick wanted to leave but before Dick could tell him, he fired him so he wouldn't have to hear those words. But Bruce is super mad that Dick left anyway. So what does he do? He makes the first boy he sees Robin.
And Jason finds out Dick was Robin when he confronts Bruce why Nightwing knows Bruce's identity. And that gets Bruce more mad because he's now feeling guilty which is when Dick comes to confront Bruce.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But instead of meeting anger for anger, Dick expresses his hurt. About how they were partners and then talks about his life after leaving Bruce.
And Bruce loves Dick. His best friend, son, brother, and partner for nearly 11 years. They raised each other and despite his anger, he smiles in pride and love.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
Look at his smile!! He's so proud of his son.
And that's when Dick stops pulling his punches.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
Bruce looks so wrecked. The guilt and sorrow is tantamount to his pain.
Then Dick asks Bruce why he choose someone new.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
So Bruce tells him. But Dick and Bruce's relationship go way deeper than just friends or family. They know each other. They revolve around each other so Dick calls him out.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
And out comes the truth
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But Dick has always been the bigger man and instead of letting Jason become some sort of spite move, he turns Robin into a legacy.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
He passes it down like it was meant to be passed down. Because let's be honest here. The Robin name and costume is Dick's. If he wanted to, he could've taken it back, Bruce be damned. And that was one of Jason's fears.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But despite Bruce's words to Jason
Batman (1940) Issue #416
He's not sure himself.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
But it's only with Dick's approval that he becomes Robin which is what Bruce is thanking at the end.
Batman (1940) Issue #416
And this has been a sort of tradition.
Dick approved of Jason being Robin, he endorsed Tim, and he made Damian Robin. The only exception being Stephanie. This is why Dick feels a heavy sense of responsibility over the robin predicament. He created the tradition. He approved, supported, and mentored every robin that walked in his colors and name. That's why he feels the burden of it.
I don't think any of the other robins know the meaning behind the name. Maybe they do. But ironically, the one who wasn't robin is the one who knows the meaning of it.
Duke.

it's time for!!! a ds9 update <3 wow <333 last night we watched "past prologue" and "a man alone."
past prologue:
FIRST OF ALL, THAT LITTLE GAY DOCTOR
idk what i expected but the scene i've seen gifs of was the VERY FIRST ONE right out of the gate. i was so thrilled. for some reason garak is WAY different than i expected. like, he's just as gay, of COURSE, but for some reason i expected him to be like...meaner. and instead he's sooooo friendly and he's also a fucking tailor. julian bashir needs a new fucking suit.
that said, bashir is so slow on the uptake literally all of the time. the suit thing and something in the other episode that i forgot. king how can you be a doctor when you are so stupid...not that i'm complaining. i wouldn't change it for anything. he's so funny.
HILARIOUS that immediately after he has any clandestine conversations w garak he has to IMMEDIATELY run to the "bridge" and tell everybody about it. he gets so excited. he really is hilarious i don't think he's done a single thing so far that wasn't funny. the fact that he was late to this little party also sir get it together
i think this ep had excellent character stuff for kira, who we've only known 5 minutes. it sets up her history and her current position so well, and her conflict of interests is such a real and tangible thing that i felt awful for her. like you knew from the beginning that guy was gonna betray her but OUCH. ending the ep on her getting called a traitor was Such a choice.
i also loved her little scene with odo..."i don't do pretense" alright autism king. and yet he talked her through it and then sort of took the decision out of her hands at the end (which was a very compassionate thing to do) when it became clear what most of her wanted to do...he's like. a really good person actually 🥺
HE TURNED HIMSELF INTO A RAT.......i love getting shocked when random objects turn out to be odo. i love playing this game. also, there was totally a leaky pipe in that scene too. ds9 feels so fucking lived in...you'd never have those on tng.
i also think sisko did a good job threading the needle here, even if kira had to go over his head to get him to see reason. you gotta do what you gotta do but he was mostly compassionate to kira's dilemma and even let her take point when she requested it...AND THEN LOL smiled while threatening her if she ever went over his head again. WHICH IS WHAT KIRA DOES. SMILES WHEN ANGRY. it was really good. i like him so much
it was such a nice touch to add o'brien telling him not to hand that guy over to the cardassians. the implication being that he was in the room when picard was transported back to the enterprise post-torture which like of COURSE he was. i don't think him outlining in detail picard's torture by those guys would have swayed sisko's opinion much because it's picard so it was also smart that he didn't go into particulars. but it does hammer home that what the cardassians do to people is real to the bajorans and to o'brien in a way that it is not (yet?) real to sisko.
KLINGON SISTERS. when they first appeared i was like "holy shit those boob windows" even though i didn't recognize their faces at all. i recognized only the boob windows. then when they said their names i was like I KNEW IT. what a funny little throwback
side bar i also love that they call the station itself ds9. they don't say deep space nine they say ds9 just like we do
a man alone:
holy racially motivated hate crimes, batman
wait sorry actually let me start at the beginning. the first scene with julian getting shot down 1000 times by jadzia (or are we supposed to call her dax...) was really funny. i'm trying to figure out in my mind palace if he's a bi king or a gay-but-closeted king.
also, so much happened in this episode. there was an a plot a b plot AND a c plot but instead of feeling rushed it just felt comfortably chaotic. i was never waiting for one plot to be over so we could get to the one that really mattered, you know? i liked everything that was going on except for the lack of garak i want him to be in every episode so bad
i like everything jadzia had going on this ep...like, people react to her different as a super hot lady than they did as an old man. sisko's talk about fucking the twins was especially hilarious. dude you can still fuck twins with her if you wanted. but the way that like 3 different people had romantic tension with her and she's just out here to do her job AND ALSO is like "i try to rise above all that" so true aroace queen. although i do actually know she has a romantic plotline with worf (who should be fucking riker and deanna) and also that *** ****, which sucks a lot.
i liked keiko getting an actual plotline in this episode. like this place didn't even have a bed for jake when sisko got here, of course she doesn't wanna raise her daughter there, and of course she's bummed out that her field of expertise is fucking useless there, although i agree w her husband that somebody needs to plant some fucking trees. i do disagree with her that it's less safe than the enterprise, though...that ship almost blows up every fucking week. anyway the fact that sisko was ready to give her whatever she needed was very nice. please treat her really niceys. side bar her baby is AODRABLE that child wanted her hands on that little bell soooo bad
speaking of jake!! it was nice to see him again. i like that when he gets in trouble his dad is obviously pissed without it being like a Problem. like he's pissed and jake is in trouble and sisko is gonna lay down the law but it's not a relationship-threatening issue. it was harmless teenage fun.
unfortunately sisko did kinda carry the idiot ball for the rest of this ep...i feel like there were so many choices he could have made to maybe NOT put a giant target on odo's back and it also took him a lot longer than i would have liked to step in once the mob started going, but he did step in, so that's what matters.
i loved odo in this episode!! he's just as angry as kira is in his own way, and his relationship with both her and quark (WOWWW more on that in a sec) feel so lived in, you can feel the years between them...it's also just now apparent to me that he's actually really protective, which, aw. i love also the lore that every 18 hours he has to just exist as goop in a pail. so true king me too
odo also aroace king he simply chooses not to couple. so true. that said whatever he and quark had going on was FUNNN i love a little sexual tension in my star trek. is he aroace or is he gay for that little ferengi. only time will tell.
on a more serious note odo's quarters getting hate crimed really drives home how set apart he is from others...and the mob section was GENUINELY scary. and he's so protective it was a little sad that kira was the only one really standing up for him :(
I NEARLY FORGOT TO ADD: julian bashir straight up growing a guy in a bubbly goopy little vat just to catch a killer? insane. thats a whole ass person who is about to be part of society who exists "just because." imagine the existential issues lmao
TONIGHT: "babel" and "captive pursuit." technically after babel we're supposed to watch "ship in a bottle" from tng, but i've been informed it's a barclay episode which means i will be watching it myself later tonight on 2x speed. it's not the first time we've fucked with the order a little bit lol (i was famously late finishing tas) so i still count it as mostly watching in release order
#personal#star trek blogging#ds9 lb#MY DS9 POSTS ARE LONGER THAN MY TNG ONES LOL. wow#it's still too early to tell but contenders for my favorites are kira odo bashir and sisko. and garak. so like half the fucking cast

I got some for you: B, C, K, O and T <333
B - A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind
To be honest, timbart. I never considered them romantically then I saw some people posting about them (plus I started reading yj98) and was like oh. OH.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will (be nice)
Batjokes. I joke about it sometimes and find it hilarious (also in Lego Batman it's all but canon) but I just...don't like it.
K -Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms
Cas! You're amazingly sweet and have amazing takes and reblog the best stuff. You're also a pro at pushing your blorbo agendas and though it may not always work I appreciate the dedication <3
O - Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of
Bejeweled is such a Stephanie Brown song!!!
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)
There's a small list;
Dick is an ABBA fan, and he never got into the alt/rock scene, but a lot of his friends did, so he knows a lot about that kind of music.
Cassie's Percy Jackson phase. It makes perfect sense and I won't hear otherwise.
Cassie cursing out the gods regularly. She's got that gen z teenager audacity, she doesn't care they're her extended family and could kill her. That's none of her business, actually. What she cares about is that they're actually fucking losers.
I've said this so many times, but brutalia? Could be peak drama couple. Literally just saying. If writers didn't hate her, they could literally be ideal. Addams coded.
Tim's really tactile, just. Very awkward. He likes hugs and all that kind of stuff, he just respects peoples space (and he's got his own boundaries) and is sort of shit at initiating them causually.
Every single core four and fab five member is nd in some way.
Oh, Damian being aroace. He's so aroace.
Jenni sometimes shows up in the past just to give her family grief for rarely visiting her without wanting something. She hangs out with them too, but that's the main reason.
STEPH AND KON BEING BI. I SWEAR BY IT
(ask game)

Okay, signing up for Cartoon Reorbit IMMEDIATELY.
Familiar already, they make your username a combination of three words!
The second roll, I got was "Empath Richard Strong." I considered taking it.
The third was Fuzzy Starfire Sumo.
Ahh, it seems it won't let you pick from a list like the old one did, they have to be randomly generated.... But some of these are Golden.
"Dramatic Rival Gotham"? That's just any Batman story ever.
Changeling Tom Big? Why does it keep giving me words relevant to the Titans, DOES IT KNOW WHY I'M HERE--?
MA G I C C A T W O M A N V E G E T A
I'm sure there's a DBZ Abridged episode about that, probably.
Oh holy fuck and SHIT, I had to take this one.
It has Azarath AND wings in it, and "leader" is relevant. ~<333
Unfortunately I got too excited and afraid someone else would get that if I didn't snag it IMMEDIATELY and forgot to take a picture.
But I'll share when I'm Officially Signed Up!

HEYA so how was your day? Also, what’s your fave hot/warm drink? Love from Positivity Batman 💛💛💛
My day’s been okay! I was lazy and slept in, and then I worked on my speech for my panel some and I think it’s going okay! Who knew writing basically an essay about positivity could be so exhausting though c:
I love tea all the way around! Iced tea especially is my vice, I can never stop drinking it! and I experiment with hot tea flavors when I’m sad. Other than tea though, I’m a huuuuge fan of anything with boba in it, fruity things like smoothies, and the occasional hot chocolate or apple cider is lovely
How about you my friend?
#positivity batman#I can never get over how sweet you are to pop into my inbox all the time#and let me chatter about myself like a big dork <33#ace speaks#ask

__________________________
“Hey, Penis Parker!” Flash yells at the top of his lungs as he hits the gas and speeds past Peter.
Sighing, Peter turns away. He knows Ned would want him to do something about the prick, but he knows better than that. It’s not as if it doesn’t get infuriating sometimes, because it fricking does. But he can’t do anything but keep letting Flash punch him, trying to get a reaction.
Sometimes, he just wants to hit back. And by “hit back”, he means metaphorically of course. He just wants to say, Here’s your reaction, Flash. And then totally roast him. He thinks that would be the coolest thing ever, but pissing off a dude like him is dangerous territory that Peter just doesn’t want to get into.
Peter picks up the earbuds hanging from the top of his sweater to slide them into his ears when he hears low laughter. He glances up and turns to see who it was. He frowns a little when he sees no one, turning back to find you on the bench nearby. He jumps a little, surprised.
You’re sitting with your legs crossed and a book held in front of you. Correction, not just any book. A comic book, Wonder Woman. By the looks of the cover, it dates to just after the bronze age of comic books, late 80s maybe. Who are you? You look up to see Peter, his expression a synthesis of confusion, curiosity, and excitement. Gently, you close the comic and set it beside you. He’s glad you’re being so careful with it, because that thing looks like it might just fall apart.
His expression turns a little serious. You say, “Oh, sorry. Was I not supposed to laugh? Flash hardly seems threatening to me, that’s all.” A few seconds of silence pass. You look away, and then back at him. “So…do you speak, or…?”
“Uh, sorry. I just, um...Flash isn’t threatening. To me, that is. So...just to set that, like, straight…” Peter fumbles over his words, his eyes still on you.
“Really? Then why don’t you do anything about him? I hope you’re not waiting for Spider-Man to swoop in and punch him or anything.”
“I’m not. I think Spider-Man has better things to do, like beating up actual bad guys and hoping to be apart of the Avengers,” Peter says, sounding a little too annoyed. He quickly tries to take a step back, though. “Uh, I mean, that’s what I’d guess. Not that I would really know, though.”
You raise your eyebrows and tilt your head to the side slightly. “Please, you’re not fooling anyone.”
His eyes widen, and he slides his hands into his pockets to try and look more casual about it. “W-What are you talking about?” How could you know? There’s no way you know anything if he’s never even seen you, right? Maybe he should tell Mr. Stark about this. Oh, who is he kidding? He can’t lean on Mr. Stark forever, he has to deal with his own problems here. He has to prove to him that he can be an Avenger.
“You know what I’m talking about. You’re a fanboy for Spider-Man. Head over heels, I’d say. You couldn’t be more obvious.” Peter almost breathes a sigh of relief, his tension gradually draining away.
But this doesn’t stop a mad blush from flushing his cheeks and ears. “I dunno, I just think Spider-Man is cool, that’s all. I’m not crazy over it or anything.”
“The body betrays the mind.” You give him a lopsided smile, which practically melts him inside. It makes him want to make you laugh, just to see how it would look. “It’s okay, I don’t really care. But between you and me, I think Spider-Man isn’t as impressive as people make him out to be.”
“Why not?” Peter shoots back almost immediately, getting a little defensive.
“I mean, he can cling to walls and ceilings and can shoot a few webs. Big deal. Come back to me when he turns out to be an Amazonian princess that still stands today as a feminist icon. Or when he uses his powers to beat up the Axis Powers in World War Two. So tell me he’s amazing when he saves the world. Then he’ll be a hero worth regarding.” He watches you, seeing your passion for Wonder Woman practically radiate off of you. There’s a glint in your eyes, and for a second, Peter’s almost convinced.
Almost. “That’s not a fair comparison. Wonder Woman spent her whole life training for the threat that she overcame. Antiope was, like, this crazy good general! So she had basically the best training she could receive until she had to go and kill Ares in the war. Not to mention, she’s a goddess! How can you blame a kid like Spider-Man, who just started out, for not being like her?” And just like that, Peter is caught. His cheeks flame up again as he curses himself internally for not being able to handle a hit on his pride. You’re better than that, dude.
You look genuinely surprised at all of this. Slowly, you start laughing. It’s a joyful, sweet sound that lights up your whole face. Peter looks like he might just faint, both out of embarrassment and from seeing you laugh.
“Well, well. Looks like I might not be the only Wonder Woman stan around here,” you grin playfully and straighten out your legs. “But I have a question for you. How do you know that Spider-Man is a kid?”
Peter is in stunned silence at first, but he quickly scraps together a lie to save himself from exposure. “I-I...saw pictures, and his, uh, physique isn’t...one that you’d see on a grown man.”
“He should call himself Spider-Boy, then,” you snort.
Don’t say anything, Peter. Just laugh and be done with it, don’t do anything stup- “Just ‘cause he’s young doesn’t mean he’s not manly!”
You look slightly taken aback. “Okay, okay, sorry for insulting your golden boy. But anyway, I gotta go home.” You open up your backpack and slide in the Wonder Woman comic. Before you close it, you pull out another comic and hand it to Peter.
“...Justice League?” Peter asks questioningly.
“Yeah. Read that, and then you might not think the Avengers are so cool anymore. The Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, and the rest. And if you ever get the chance to meet the guy in the spider costume, give it to him too.” With that, you zip up your bag and slide it onto your shoulders, starting to turn away.
“Wait,” Peter calls out. You turn back and look at him. For just a moment, he gets lost in your E/C eyes. He doesn’t know what you’re doing to him, but he doesn’t want it to stop. “What’s your name?”
“Y/N. Y/N Y/L/N. What about you?”
What a beautiful name. But instead of voicing his thoughts, he just says, “Peter Parker.”
“Peter Parker. That’s a cute name. If you ever need someone to throw a punch at Flash Thompson, I’ll be there if your Spider-Man can’t.”
He grins a little, trying to play it cool even though you just called him ‘cute’. “Thanks, but I think I can handle myself.”
“No offense, but with what arms?” He glances down at his worn blue sweater, which is just baggy enough to hide the lean muscle underneath. He smiles modestly and shrugs.
“Exactly. See you later,” you give him one last smile and get going. He watches you walk, and then stop as you pull out earphones and untangle them before setting them in your ears. He wonders why his face is starting to hurt when he realizes he’s been grinning like an idiot the whole time.
That night, you occupy Peter’s thoughts for the longest time. He loves that you fight for your opinion, and what you believe. Because after all, it’s about what you believe. He reads the Justice League comic, which is practically a relic. It gets him thinking about the Avengers, and who he is as Spider-Man. In ways, the League is similar, but also radically different. He kind of wishes the characters could pop out of their stories and be apart of his world. Wouldn’t that be cool, having Batman on the Avengers? You were right, and now Peter wants to read more.
He still reminds himself of the distinction between fictional superheroes and the real ones. The Justice League doesn’t really exist, but the Avengers do. So he has to make the best of reality. Maybe he could even take a page or two out of the fictional characters’ books and become a better Spider-Man. Inspired by these thoughts, Peter falls asleep.
The next day is rushed. Peter practically darts from class to class, trying to get all of his work done so he can stay out longer as Spider-Man. On his way to his math class, he passes through the gym as a shortcut.
“Ninety-four, ninety-five, ninety-six…” A group of students chant, making him glance over. The whole class is crowded around a single student doing pushups. Her arms effortlessly move up and down, and he can’t help but admire her muscled biceps and forearms. He takes mental notes on her form. Looking a little closer, the face looks familiar.
Is that...you? You momentarily lift your head and give him your lopsided smile, your forehead pouring sweat. Peter stares in shock, and the only thing that jolts him back to reality is the late bell. He sprints out of the gym to get to class.
Was that really you? Of course it was, there’s no mistaking that smile that makes his heart pound. You really could throw Flash a mean punch. He flinches a little thinking about it, but now he has a whole new admiration for you and your strength. A girl with both a comic obsession and probably a six-pack? Peter’s heart flutters. With enough convincing, maybe he could get you to believe in Spider-Man, too.
After school, he sees you on your bench again. You’re in the same position, but this time, your hands hold a dated Superman comic. “How was Justice League?” You ask just as he opens his mouth to speak.
“It was really good, actually. I liked it.” He takes a seat beside you, suddenly nervous as you set the comic aside. You stare at him, and he gets even more nervous, not knowing what to do.
After a long silence, you say, “So...where is it?”
“Oh. Oh! Right, sorry.” He sees your patient, awkward smile and quickly digs around his backpack. “Uh, here.” He hands you the comic, hands shaking slightly. He stares at you, hopelessly lost in memorizing your features until you snap him out of it again.
“Peter, you realize that you have to let go of it for me to take it,” you say slowly.
“Right!” He quickly lets go and tries to give you a smile. He swallows, trying to calm himself down.
You smile back. “So you liked it. I thought you would. Do you want to read more?”
Peter grins a little. “That would be awesome. Oh yeah, I saw what you did in the gym today.”
“I know. Impressed?” You grin back.
“Not embarrassed to admit that I am,” Peter nods, starting to break free of his anxious shell as he sets an arm around the bench.
“Good. There are too many guys out there that take it as a challenge to their masculinity and get worked up over it.”
“Yeah, you’re right. I don’t really like those kinds of people, honestly.”
For some reason, this makes you smile widely. You tuck away the comic and turn to look at him. “Hey, do you want to, like, go out sometime?” You ask directly.
Peter blushes for about the millionth time, but he looks a little confused. “Uh, we met like yesterday -”
“Do you like me?”
“W-What?” He stutters slightly.
“I said, do you like me?” You gaze at him intensely.
“I-I...yeah, I do,” he admits, thrown off guard once again.
“Pete, there’s no time like the present. I’m not exactly the kind of person who waits for things to happen. I’m the one who goes out and does them. So do you want to go out or not?”
Peter realizes you’ve nicknamed him and is internally fanboying. There are so many things he admires about you right now. Your initiative, your straight-forward and non-hesitant manner. You’re so...strong. You’re what he aspires to be as a person, but instead he’s shy and can hardly speak in front of you.
“Yeah, I do,” he finally responds, blinking a few times.
You give him that crooked smile that he likes so much, nodding. Things are about to get a lot more interesting for Peter Parker.

@cdelphiki @thatblondeperson
A) Talia being a villain / rapist / abuser is, yes, a total 180 of her character.
B) Independing, if y’all like her as a villain then it’s okay! It’s just that her vilification takes root in racism and fetishization, it also completely flattens what was more of a multi-faceted character, and I think it’s good to be aware of that. It’s better to be aware of her whole 50 years long character history before you choose which part of canon you’ll make yours.
C) If you’ll allow me, some canon evidence:
The whole "Talia raped Bruce" & the issue the panels above comes from are a rewriting of older comics. They’re a retcon.
[Batman (1940) #244]
During a fight in the desert against Ra’s, Bruce is bit by a scorpio and left to die. Talia goes to him and pretends to kiss him in order to give him a remedy and save his life. On countless occasions Talia betrays her father more or less overtly to help or to save Bruce.
After that Bruce goes back to Ra’s, knocks him down and takes him to face justice but lets Talia go (because he loves her and because he knows that without her father around she won’t do anything bad). They don’t sleep together. There is no drugged sex.
Now look at Morrison’s version of that iconic fight in the desert and the aftermath. Yeah, not the same mood. He took the "Talia drugged Bruce" out if it but completely twisted things around.
In the same vein, the conception of Damian is directly inspired from Son of the Demon. Except in the source material the sex is fully consensual.
There is no drugging involved, no rape, no nothing.
Talia was an anti-heroine rather than a villain for decades of publication. She was protective of children...
[Batman (1940) #257]
She always acted out of love. Her relationship with Bruce was complicated due to their belonging to different sides, but it was always loving and fully consensual.
[Batman (1940) #333]
[Azrael (1995) #30]
Talia’s whole character arc was about emancipating from the league. She wasn’t trained as an assassin, she only took part in the couple missions her father instrumentalized her in, she despised assassin work, and she wanted out. She repeatedly betrayed Ra’s for Bruce. The simple idea that she could have raised Damian within the league voluntarily is a 180 of her character.
[Detective Comics (1937) #750]
[Batman (1940) #616]
DC retconned decades of a multi-faceted, loving, consensual relationship. They threw rape as cheap shock value because DC has a long history of using rape as a device without addressing the problem or consequences. They retconned Talia into an abuser so that Damian’s backstory could be angsty.
You got introduced to her through that writing and don’t want to let it go? You do you. Maybe you like her as a villain, that’s cool. But please please please try to know the whole story before talking about the epilogue. It’s really not about exonerating a rapist because we find her cool.
( @ellievate thanks for the @ !)
talia al ghul was used and abused by ra’s. she, a brown woman, is a victim of a man’s abuse. he ruined her life and her relationships. she deserves as much of a redemption story as damian because of their shared trauma. she deserves the love and appreciation as much as poison ivy and harley quinn do. her story is not different from harley’s or selina’s or any of the other characters of dc comics.
the one and only reason she is demonized and dehumanized and portrayed in a very racist way is because of the transparent favouritism and racism in dc comics because no one wants to write an arab-chinese woman character in a sympathetic and good way. they dont see an abused brown woman, they see a demoness because every one of dc comics’ writers are racist white men.

Meme time
I’m always late on these memes so I’m going with 3 ones I owe...
1) I was tagged by dearest @amikoroyai (thank you darling!<333), to whom I already owed 2 more memes from ages ago ;-) *so sorry!* so I’ll at least give you my answers for the 2 of them (the third one required 10 shows or something and since I’m not even sure I can think of that many I’ll skip it;p)
Rules: Tag 9 people you want to get to know better.
Relationship status: Single
Lipstick or chapstick: Both
Last movie I watched: Oh, I haven’t been to the movies for soo long…but I watched “Batman Returns” -for the millionth time in my life and on VCR (!) -the other day because I used a gif from it and had a feels- attack!;p
Last song you listened to: “Κοίτα εγώ” Ν. Μποφίλιου-Π.Μουζουράκης- such a Milady song, but I’m sorry it’s in greek...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTYzi6wsDPA,
Top 3 shows: Hmm, currently? I haven’t been in the mood to start anything new the past year but at least I did watch “Versailles” and “Gotham” is something I still enjoy (had given up on it early on in S1 but they did some crazy stuff later on in s2 that I really liked and they got me back) and I will always love “The musketeers” (ITA s1 &2, there is no season 3 ofc), so...
Top 3 characters: sticking with the shows mentioned above: Athos, Milady de Winter, Fabien Marchal
Top 3 ships: again based solely on these 3 shows:
Athos x Milady (because Milathos is always and forever OTP)
Fabien x Beatrice (so damn hot, great characters and gave me milathos feels),
Bruce x Selina (because batcat is otp! Although they’re still too young - I’m glad they are growing up fast, because I admit them being “kids” feels a bit weird! - baby-batcat has wonderful – so spot on “batcat dynamics”)
If we stick to adults- I also ship Jim/Barbara hard after S2 – basically after she went psycho and became a “villain” – because they have chemistry and also give me love/hate vibes now- still waiting for the hate-sex on this one :p )
2) I’m pretty sure I was tagged by both @amikoroyai and @vera-dauriac for this one (thanks sweetie!<333)
Rules: copy this into a new text post, replace my answers with yours and tag 10 people
A - age: 37 (in May- so there’s still time to get me gifts ;p)
B - biggest fear: failure
C - current time: 2.35pm
D - drink you last had: coffee
E - every day starts with: cursing
F - favourite song: ugh.. how can there be only one?! “With or without you” U2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmSdTa9kaiQ,
G - ghosts, are they real?: Hmm…a lot depends on the definition of “ghosts”…and it’s always tricky with metaphysics..I’m much more inclined by nature to go with “absolutely no”, because well, “no scientific proof” but I can’t be sure… maybe there’s “something” out there that science just isn’t able/doesn’t have the means to prove yet…I mean “negative mass” hasn’t exactly been proved yet either…;p
H - hometown: Athens – it’s perfect!
I - in love with: milathos ;p music, reading, old movies ... *always in denial when it comes to real persons*
J - jealous of: I don’t like the negative vibes towards others the word “jealous” implies…but I sometimes wish I were more like those people who manage to have a carefree attitude towards life…but then I brush it off thinking they’re probably “not smart enough” to realize what’s going on or/and “incapable of feeling deeply enough” to be affected by it and I’m back to feeling good about myself again ;p *ok, so much for avoiding the negative vibes of “jealousy” as if all my horrible assumptions about others -as described above- aren’t full of negative vibes! lol– I’m a terrible person!*
K - killed someone: literally or figuratively?
Pfft…all I have to say is that you won’t be able to find any proof either way ;p
L - last time you cried: Well, I don’t cry often but I had a really bad breakdown lately…*don’t remind me*
M - middle name: Don’t have one.
N - number of siblings: One older brother *best brother ever!*
O - one wish: too greedy to have only one, but health is my priority right now…
P - person you last texted: one of my two best friends
Q - questions you’re always asked: a) “What should I do?” because people will always seek free legal advice ;p and that’s totally cool - what’s really scary is that many also seek advice on more “personal matters” or even “life choices” *“why would I know?!Also, are they just trying to find someone to put the blame on if it all turns out badly?!;p”* b) “What’s wrong?” *Everything!* most of the time people really can’t figure out what’s going on with me, because I don’t open up easily and I won’t say even when they ask, so they keep asking ;p*
R - reasons to smile: yeah, might sound cliché but family, friends any kind of cuteness… Also “any witty sarcastic comeback” (even those addressed to me;p)
S - song last sang: Can’t remember, but I avoid singing…my friends always tell me I’m out of tune ;-)
T - time you woke up: 4:30 am – that was definitely an exception to the rule, because I’m a night owl, but after 2 days of almost no sleep I turned in exceptionally early last night …
U - underwear color: black
V - vacation destination: Hmm…I would really like to visit Edinburgh and Prague someday.
W - worst habit: objectively I guess smoking – subjectively I would go with my tendency to bottle up feelings – especially negative ones…
X - x-rays you’ve ever had: I’ve had a few over the years, but since I’ve also had MRI, x-rays seem too trivial to mention ;p
Z - zodiac sign: Taurus
3) I was tagged by the wonderful @swelldame - thank you dear!<333 *we do share the same initial ;-)*
Rules: Answer and tag ten people. Use the first letter of your name to answer each question. Real answers only. If the person before you had the same initial, you must have different answers. You can’t use the same word twice.
Name: Αργυρώ (Argyro- I just don’t like writing it in English because the “g” sounds so wrong ;p)
Four-Letter Word: Acid
A Boy’s Name: Alex
Occupation: Attorney
Something You Wear: Anklet
Food: Apple
Something you find in the bathroom: Antiseptic
A place: Athens

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G_Qg_o2kas,

Ok, I’m tagging anyone of my followers who feels like doing any of these – they were fun and I would like to know you better!
