"And plus," Ace paused, closing her eyes until the sounds of pedesteps slowly came within distance before she raised an optic-lid to say her awaited insult, "Steeljaw's plans suck, royally," The con shot both his ears up to the sky, rolling them back against his head to shoulder-up against Ace, nudging her almost, "hmph. I don't see you offer any grander schemes to the table and!--"

Steeljaw rose a claw to reason, "some of them do work,"

"I've heard Starscream of all cons make well-thought-out and more thorough plans than you," Ace replied, taking a moment to swat away their petty argument for another time. "But anyways, me and Steels definitely have a variety of differing opinions on things, it's sort of... A shocker that we're together," The scarlet femme noted, almost thinking back on how their relationship even blossomed in the first place. Her attention steered back to reality once two servos planted themselves delicately on her sharpened shoulder pads, causing her to glance up before the deception brushed his face closer to hers in an affectionate manner, "opposites attract, don't they?" He said, in an all-knowingly tone she despised yet adored, raising a snort from Ace.

As Steeljaw slowly began to depart from the scene of his affectionate crimes to go tend to other matters, Ace continued to answer, now composed, "I mean-- really, it depends, we mostly like to keep a professional appearance at all times but," Her voice faded out while Ace rubbed the sides of her warming facial plates, blushing on her partner's behalf, "Steeljaw is indefinitely the more physical one. Touching and physical contact is weird to me but I'll only allow it to this one pain in the aft of an exception I've got,"

"Meee," Titania sang without hesitation, gradually glancing over to the Predacon who made no attempts to deny her words, only responding with, "unless you consider threats a form of verbal affection, then I am," he sneered as the shapeshifter sighed, leaning on one hand, to explain, "Dinobot has said some nice things before but-- for his... Image, I won't reveal what they are," They said, side-eyeing the bot who'd continue to watch her every word and movement out of caution.

"But to answer, yes. I am the more verbally affectionate one out of both of us," the shapeshifter confessed.

Dinobot II crossed his arms, hissing between clenched teeth before spouting, "It's disgusting! Why would anybody commit to such twisted acts of affection, and in the view of the public eye?!" his voice steadily rose even while he turned to Titania for an answer as if she knew the answer. She could only smile and say, "I think PDA is very cute,"

The bot rose his optical ridges and gruffly huffed, looking away as Titania focused on the question and... Eyed at something particular,

"Dinobot...Like his original," She lowered her voice, still keeping her eyes tucked low, "likes maintaining his image a little so, I have to hold back a little and considering my trust with the other members of the Predacons, I wouldn't want my love to be viewed as a traitor," She explains, "In short, I enjoy it and perhaps, Dinobot does too," Titania answered, moving her leg to the side as the confined coils of Dinobot II's tail kept it in place, barely budging. Yet even so, it earned a small smile from Titania who ends it, "... He just doesn't realize it,"

ive been playing an absurd amount of risk of rain lately and ive started to wonder about a BW au where they ended up on petrichor V (maybe the preds replacing the contact light and the maximals replacing safe travels?) so heres my altmode ideas for the cast

rattrap: blind vermin > spitter

depth charge: one of the wandering vagrant variants (maybe the juveniles from the first game)

inferno: beetle guard (megatron has the queens gland?)

megatron: scorch wurm > magma worm > gilded wurm

dinobot: elder lemurian (dinobot II can be acrid cause i love acrid)

optimus primal: stone golem > stone titan > aurelionite (he fuses with him instead of prime)

tigatron: mini mushrum

airrazor: swift/alloy vulture

tigerhawk: kur ska the heretic (idk just makes sense to me)

cheetor: wisp > greater wisp > ancient wisp

rampage: void devastator (sand crab could work too but i wanted him to be a boss to point out his power)

blackarachnia and tarantulas: mechanical spiders

waspinator: aspid

terrorsaur: blind pest (different from vermin, pests are fliers)

quickstrike: lemurian calvary

Dinobot & rihnox deserved better and to live, also if they did get revived what do you think their beast modes would look like in Beast machines. Also what’s your opinion on beast machines

For Dinobot its interesting because he would have to have his spark in a new body since Megatron took over his corpse in that episode where he made an amalgamation beast mode using the parts of all dead characters from BW.

I don't remember the time period they were in beast machines so I assume he is unable to obtain a beast mode similar to his old one unless he goes fossil mode, and if he does i think he gets mixed up technoorganically so hes a mix organic fossil reptile and machine and wants his beast mode which is like a fuck you to megatron as well

I also think a harpy eagle or a condor would be a good one as well

It would have been interesting considering how he ended a SECOND time saving Primal, his beast mode being much more robotic and asymmetrical than before. Yes, Ik hes technically not fully dinobot but he is enough of him to care for Primal and the others in the end.

I really love Dinobot II's design.

With Rhinox being Tankor, I think Tankors body suits him fine but I think Rhinox would have an updated, more robotic and stylized rhino beast mode if he so wished to get a beast mode again. Perhaps his horns/tusks are larger too.

As for Beast Machines overall, I LOVE how fucked up and insane Megatron becomes post beast wars, I also love that Strika and Obsidian are the greatest power couple of all time, yes I'm biased bc I love Strika. Theres a ton of little things in beast machines that i love, but theres also a lot I could go into that angers me. I wish jetstorm wasn't silverbolt and that they didnt change ba's character to just moping over silverbolt

Jetstorm was much cooler and his design was top tier only to become an Asian stereotype which i CoulD go into but I won't

Do a beastwars dinobot vs beastwars inferno poll pls

Hi Anon! Unfortunately, I am no longer taking candidates and the future rounds have already been set up.

Dinobot was submitted though and he is in Group C with the other submitted Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, and Beast Wars Neo characters! Inferno wasn't submitted this time.

Maybe next time if I do this poll again. Good matchup though. Or maybe I'll do a minipoll for BW charcters specifically when deciding on the next poll I'll do.

To add on to this, it gets weirder.

Most of the Beast Wars cast, and that included toy only characters and the anime cast too, were divided into two groups: the acolytes of Onyx-Shockwave/Unicron and denizens of the Beast Planet Eukaris.

Rattrap stands out as the only BW character to be an Autobot on Cybertron working for Starscream during his tenure as ruler, but all in a bid to expose Starscream because he was actually working for Prowl… it’s very messy.

Cheetor & Dinobot were tribal leaders on Eukaris, Cheetor of the Fur-Walkers (yes it’s as stupid as it sounds), and Dinobot of the Scale-Walkers among others. The joke being that despite the Beast Transformers being subject to racism by Vehicle Transformers, apparently the Beasts didn’t care for each other either, segregating each other into clans and largely having nothing to do with each other unless a meeting was called by Black Arachnia. Tigatron and Airazor were written as a Romeo & Juliet type, defying the customs to be together but being banished to Cybertron. It’s all very contrived and forced.

It should be noted that most of the story on how Beasts were treated in IDW was largely handled by John Barber & Mairghread Scott, the later having grown up with and being a fan of Beast Wars, as well as contributing writing to Rescue Bots, Cyberverse, Prime & RiD15. So you’d think she’d know better than to slide into bad fan fic territory for the comics, but here we are.

It largely comes off as a meta gag about how how some G1 fans still talk skrud about Beast Wars to this day, but boy was it handled poorly and if anything made it look like they agreed with the Geewunners.

Cybertron largely hated animal robots to the point they all left Cybertron to found a new colony, then the beast’s apparently didn’t like each other and segregated themselves, & I haven’t even gotten to the best part of this slag fest yet.

So by the end pretty much all the Beast Wars characters die. As @dynared said, most of them worked for Shockwave & Unicron, and they all died for their troubles by a united Transformers & Aliens army. Eukaris and everyone on it meanwhile was eaten by Unicron, as part of his mission to devour all colonies related to Cybertron as vengeance for Antilla.

There’s also this nonsensical gem:

Yes that’s Megatron & Optimus Primal, shedding their skins to turn into… whatever this is supposed to be. They go back to their regular Robot Modes so don’t ask me why this happened to begin with. The wiki claims it was Ore-13 mutation but I think it’s Alex Mline showing off. (As he should, he’s amazing, but still…)

The Beasts have a further thing that’s odd. There’s no Predacons outside of the G1 team, with the Maximals instead referring to the Beast Army Shockwave & Unicron control. The term Maximal comes from Liege Maximo, who was their original boss in ancient times.

It’s not all bad, the Beast Wars comics by Simon Furman & Ben Yee & the Beast Wars reboot by Erik Burnham are both pretty good and superior to the meta nonsense from the mainline G1 book. In fact the Beast Wars reboot outsold IDW2 considerably.

There are catches though: the Furman penned book is a side story focusing on Magmatron & Razorbeast’s teams during the events of the original cartoon. You rarely get anything from Optimus & Megatron’s side. The book is also a reworked and heavily Americanized take on the anime Beast Wars cast, based on biases and misunderstandings because we didn’t have proper fan subs yet of II & Neo yet. So while characters aren’t treated poorly, most of the anime characters aren’t who we’d come to know them as. (Though for Magmatron it’s honestly an improvement since his own show didn’t utilize him super well.)

The Beast Wars reboot made the cardinal sin of assuming it’d have all the time to tell what it wanted to tell, so it took its time, but had to bum rush an ending due to coming out when IDW lost the Transformers license. So it spends too much time setting up what was meant to be a longer story, had a fixation on Dinobot that was more of a detriment, introduces two new female characters that they don’t do anything with, wasting them, among some personal nitpicks. In particular the lack of Transforming, as everyone spends more time OUT of Beast Mode, when it especially doesn’t make sense. There’s a scene where Nyx is working outside on the ship in Robot Mode (which makes sense in context), Optimus comes outside to talk to her and immediately converts to Robot Mode, rather than just stay as a gorilla. Keep in mind the cartoon’s rule of Energon exposure is still at play here, and a plot point for Nyx later on, so why the aversion? I can’t decide if it was a weird Hasbro mandate or an odd creative choice by Erik.

Bottom line, just read the Beast Wars comics by IDW. Those are fine.

As a HUGE fan of Beast Wars, I’m a little scared to ask what happened to those characters in IDW. I’ve heard some things about Rattrap, and just how badly the understood the OG character, but what happened to the others?

Spoiler for a widely loathed series - They were servants of Onyx Prime (later revealed to be Shockwave) because they were discriminated against due to their looks, and were eventually willingly made into Unicron's servants once Shockwave's ruse was discovered. They're also complete mutes for the most part, which is exactly how you want to treat characters from a show best known for its witty dialogue and relatively small, intimate cast.

You can practically hear James Roberts going "TRUKK, NOT MUNKY" when this was being written.

How tall are your OCs?

Well, I’ve already had Titania’s height reference posted but I’ll do it again, this time with other characters to show.

Titania’s Full Height is 13 feet, whereas her average height is 10’4. Her full height would be comparable to the height you have when you’re not slouching, for Titania, it costs her more energy to be in her full height and to be able to maintain it is tiring so— 10’4 is the average she can go.

Dinobot is 9’6 (2.9 meters), Dinobot II is 10’2 (3.1 meters), Rattrap is 5’11 (1.8 m), and the human height is 6’0

As for Ace and Quartzstreak

Quartzstreak is about 23 feet and compared to some of the cons, and Arcee, an, she at least exceeds Knockout and Arcee's heigh

Now for Ace, I had to figure out the actual heights in RiD15, for some of the cons but for her height alone, she would be 20 feet! Small but full of unbridled rage:

Using the height for Bumblebee from Prime, I sort of made some assumptions of my own on some of the con's heights in RiD15.

Steeljaw's 23 ft, Fracture is 24 ft, Underbite is 27 ft, Thunderhoof (without the antlers) would be 25 ft.

It may not be accurate, but it's from what I picked up
