I think it says a lot about how every man that's the best at what they do in jjk (toji, gojo,sukuna to some extent) seem to be genuinely uninterested and unenthusiastic about life outside of jujutsu to the point of not even bothering to try to have a life even remotely separate from it (gojo's "good at everything" but he doesn't have hobbies and the author themselves can't even imagine him happy. said he'd rather be a freeloader if he lived in a world without CE, toji started freeloading off women and gambling his life away the moment things got hard after leaving the zenin clan, sukuna's... whole entire everything... especially in the last chapter) these men are overworked, dehumanized AND REALLY FUCKING DEPRESSED to the point where the thrill of almost dying everyday fighting curses and sorcerers is the only thing keeping them going...

I have my many MANY problems with gege's writing but he got one thing perfect and that is that piqueing the interest of a god can and should leave you as less than ash

exchange event: part 3 (baseball game)

the way that Nobara gets mad at the way things are run - and then gets on base - is the same way that she disagreed with being told to not get involved in shibuya. and she was able to affect Mahito.

this time I wrote out the batting order and fielding positions. which honestly does feel like foreshadowing also. the order of elimination from the culling game arc to the Shinjuku showdown (replace Noritoshi with Choso as Kamo in the batting order).

every detail from the baseball game could be used for meta analysis. the positions really line up with the roles they had in Shinjuku, whether except or helping distantly or the ones who remained until the end.

one thing I left out was how Gojo took a neutral position. Yuuta was not involved in the exchange event this year, but Todo had attacked Fushiguro with the intention of getting him hospitalized so that Yuuta would fill his place in the exchange event. like, Yuuta needs to be here.

Anyway.

pitchers - Maki, Mechamaru

first base - Panda, Mai (first to be excempt from Shinjuku)

second - Inumaki, Miwa (helped from a distance on one occasion)

third - Nobara, Noritoshi will Kamo (undeniably had influence but did not enter the field directly)

outfielder - Fushiguro, Nishimiya (they were moving bodies)

catcher - (Yuuji and Todo at home base, there until the end).

just watched a video essay about marble hornets and at one point the guy says "there are some very weird decisions, like trying to pass off this obvious cinder-blocked student housing unit as an apartment" man that was literally MY apartment???
