✉ A/N: Inspired by @montanashocker and @hollowsart AND OOMF ( @voltrixz AGAIN) for a few of these hcs!! Also, sorry in advance for the buttload of angst that comes with my headcanons for this guy?? It just so happens to be really easy to throw this guy into a blender (of emotional damage). I'm also wringing this guy out of what I can before I get to working on OC x Canon slop. 𐚁 Though Montana adjusted rather quickly in a short span of time in getting used to the suit as well as using it. I’d actually like to headcanon that even with all that that, I think realistically it would’ve come with a bit of drawback, given that it WAS mentioned to be a "prototype," plus it's shown to be an imperfect device during his debut episode where even though it protects him from his own powers, sometimes it's not enough.

𐚁 Through either consistent use or at least the first few rough patches in using it. He’s probably actually obtained a scar during his beginning uses. It'd have to be weeks or months before he'd realize the discomfort left something more. He's smart, but sometimes he forgets his own well-being.

𐚁 Consistent usages from the gauntlets having buckled against his knuckles a few times or pushed back might do the trick. This was mostly during times where he began overexerting himself or pushing the limits of either himself or the gauntlets from trying to put down a particular Spider-themed superhero. In the future, I'd like to imagine that his gauntlets do get an upgrade to stop the self-injury but, damages were already done. He wears it like a memory now.

𐚁 He’s got really good aim, even without the suit. He's used to long-range weaponry, probably got some practice before shooting a few bricks through the dome from rifle-hunting ducks or deer.

𐚁 His favorite color is orange, and I might write something about why that is.

𐚁 Favorite animal is probably something simple like a dog, but... Then again, he thinks dogs are very efficient in the way they are steadfast and loyal. They can learn tricks and make for good security if taught the right ways, and are simple enough. Give them a bone, a pat and they'll do just about anything. They're simple but helpful animals. He values their ability as more of being a tool than a companion... (kind of reflects back on a certain... Someone, hmmm???)

𐚁 I always thought the shockwave blast sfx was cool whenever he’d start shooting in the series. Too bad that this guy probably developed a bit of tinnitus from excessive usage. The suit was still referenced as a “prototype” in the show and I’m at least certain that TriCorp was at least looking to iron out the kinks before properly selling it on the mercenary weapons’ market before it got stolen. His hearing is a little fucked, but it's not enough to render him incapable of working... Annoys him every now and then once he's alone and the world starts ringing uncontrollably.

𐚁 Another unintentional side effect he’s gotten since the suit is the occasional tremor in his hands. Possibly shows up when he’s not even doing anything sometimes. It's a permanent thing, but it doesn't linger too long. Sometimes it happens when he feels incredibly frustrated, he's used to drawing to his weapons as Shocker but... Without the gauntlets sometimes, he just grips his fists and waits for the shaking to stop.

𐚁 Speaking of that, he's definitely known how to separate his identities a little, with that being Montana and Shocker. He knows who he is with (Shocker) and without (Montana) the suit, but the one thing he struggles with sometimes... And though it's a small thing is, being Jackson W. Brice. He's spent his life working under a name that wasn't his, just a place that he came from, a reminder of home and yet... He doesn't even remember the man who once lived in that home sometimes. It's a bit of an identity crisis for him but, he tries not to let it get to his head when he nearly forgets that he isn't neither Shocker nor Montana, just... Average Jackson Brice, off the clock and away from the bar.

𐚁 This is MY personal take again, but I think his middle name "W." stands for "Warren." and I also will right out a snippet at some point why, maybe.

𐚁 He doesn't work out on a daily basis--maybe works out or tries to once or twice every two weeks. His job already allows him to do a lot of exercise in general and its probably been upped even more so since Spider-man was introduced... BUT, if you were to ask me what kind of workouts he mostly does and where most of his training feeds towards, it's mainly a lot of upper body (in his arms) and to his legs. (does not do squats or much in the glutes, flat ass. /j) I mean, we literally see to him resorting to exercising using dumb bells in "Group Therapy" and on "Opening Night" he not only caught Spider-man mid-air with a rope he made from his bed sheets, but also managed to yank him down. Think of stuff MUCH heavier than 135 lbs, he could've been doing this with. Straight CATTLE. Other PEOPLE. He would need at least some strength in his legs to hold firmly where he is as well as some muscle to PULL his target in.

𐚁 Boxing is also one of the workouts he does mainly look to when he does end up going to workout, even physical training by sparring with his Enforcers. It helps him manage his anger problems a little better, and often leaves less things broken—whether that'd be people, furniture, the wall, list goes on. His anger-induced destructive tendencies will claim victim to anyTHING and anyBODY especially if under the influence of a few bottles.

𐚁 Also, I do not believe he has incredibly defined washboard abs that you can clean your clothes off of. You cannot brainwash me... But, if I were to... Possibly figure out a visual of what I imagine his body to look like. I'd look to Vessel from Sleep Token for a reference (DON'T JUMP AT ME AND TELL ME THAT THEY [VESSEL] HAVE WASHBOARD ABS OR SOMETHING. I JUST THINK THAT SOME OF HIS BODY HAS SOFT MUSCULAR FEATURES SOMETIMES WHICH KINDA FITS.)

𐚁 Lives quite a modest lifestyle, tries to at least, probably stays in a one-bedroom apartment somewhere with all the basic necessities.

𐚁 Most of the time when Montana DOES have free time on his own, it's usually around daytime. Most of the crime he's called in to do often takes place at night either way, and when he's not working as an Enforcer. It's also roughly the same time where his bar is more likely to get customers, so he opens up in the afternoon or by evening.

𐚁 Like a lot of people, he doesn't like being reminded that he's old... Or at least actively getting old. He knows that maybe one day, he'll probably die doing his job rather than anything but that's his given choice, he already knows it'll happen. It's in the plans and yet regardless, every time that he does get some reminder outside of his work that he's getting old and the passage of time is getting to him... Whether it's grey hairs or just something else altogether. It unnerves him, even slightly. He doesn't care whether he dies out without a legacy to his name or whether if anybody knew him at all, all he does care about is going out the way he wants to, which is either doing what he loves or simply because he gave it his all. There's more comfort in dying as an Enforcer than there is dying as just old Jackson Brice because he believes that at the very least. He'll have died doing what he was good at. He won't accept the idea of getting let off because his own body is failing him without his say so. He refuses to be put out of the race like a horse with a broken leg. He is a cog that would rather break than rust in this great machine of what he does.

𐚁 His most prominent sin/flaw that he knows well of is his selfishness that he often ties into the idea of self preservation or some other. He doesn't choose a certain option simply because it will save someone else from the troubles of him, (only sometimes) but he will sometimes actively choose an option or think a certain way. Simply because it helps him in some way. If he knows that he is giving someone he cares about trouble, he'll cut off a relationship simply because he cannot live with his own guilt for hurting them in some way so BY theory. He will remove the other person instead, not to save them from him, but to save himself from facing them. He'll abandon a man on a collapsing bridge if it means he survives. He'll shoot a man point blank without flinching if there was no other means of him making it out of a situation. It's what his way of life has taught him. Put yourself first. Trust nobody but yourself. If you let in somebody and they end up backstabbing or hurting you in the end? It was your fault in the first place for letting them in, now clean up the mess. That, is Montana's way of thinking. He's aware of how selfish he can be, but will he ever change that? Who knows. (Like I've mentioned, yet again, a self-made martyr designed for nobody else but himself)

𐚁 Mainly keeps himself busy with doing something with at least every hour of the day, or for most of the hours of the day. It helps him stay productive in his mind and if he's doing generally nothing, it tiffs him off knowing he could be doing something anything, even if it's leisurely like playing pool or having a drink/smoke. He likes being productive, and working with his hands. It helps him think sometimes.

𐚁 His birthday's December 8/9th

𐚁 Has a strange perspective on mutants, or at least the super-enabled (this is also based on the first episode "Survival of The Fittest" on his reaction to Vulture and Spider-man).

"... Strangest darn gig Big Man's ever slid our way. We're flying with the freaks now boys..."

𐚁 It's not to say he directly dislikes all kinds of super-enabled, it's just... "Different" to his usual way of living, weird, and new in a way he's not sure he likes... Especially if it ups the ante in his line of work, much less daily living. What he can dislike about most of the super-enabled is the reckless usage of abilities with no prominent restraint nor training (look to his reaction to Sandman in "Group Therapy"):

"... Amateurs!..."

𐚁 ... He says it in plural form, so he was definitely referring to more than just Flint Marko there, but point stands. He doesn't enjoy that most of the average men he knows can get powers (mostly) by obtaining them by mere accident just to create more accidents. He believes that there should be a law, or some kind of restraint and proper training for something that can potentially jeopardize a mission (working with the Sinister Six) or create more collateral than necessary, or... Generally, hurt him. Intentionally or not. The idea of the super-enabled also puts him at a disadvantage as a human, because without the suit. Montana is just left to his own skills in facing something he's never supposed to normally face. It's all strange and even with his introduction to a few of the super-enabled. It doesn't really make him feel all that cozied up with the idea of just anybody getting powers/strengths that aren't earned. It makes him more cautious especially for him to now become aware of those that are super-enabled whom he isn't familiar with. (boy you are one step away from being mutantphobic /j)

𐚁 Doesn't have that much of a huge arsenal of clothing. Probably has around a couple leather jackets, the same five button-up shirts in different color, a few different hats, and a very limited arsenal of boots, much less pants. As long as it fits to his usual style of clothing, he is very fine with repeating outfits. Doesn't care much for the trend of things. He's too old-fashioned for that, and half of his stuff is comfortable anyways (for him at least).

𐚁 He progressively gets more Southern the more passionate he gets, metaphors start falling from his lips, slangs you wouldn't hear unless it's from a Western movie—the whole wazoo. He already limits himself to quite a tame amount, mainly because he gets mildly annoyed having to right his accent and speak "normally" for people to get his meaning to things. Ever since he's moved to the big city especially, he's had to clamp down his tongue a little. It's kind of disappointing, but around Fancy Dan and Ox, he'll freely say as much as he'd like without translating the lingo.

𐚁 He would not have a kid, much less KIDS (PLURAL). Yeah, no. I'm sorry. Not a huge kid-having guy. I do not see this man in the future with kids at all. He knows the financial burden and definitely knows that if you slightly mess up raising a kid, you end up with a much bigger mess than you started with. I mean, he can look at himself for an example of that... Not the greatest man ever, and not the worst... But just enough for him to say that he probably would NOT want another smaller version of him coming around. Would make for a decent (cool) uncle at least, but he'd never think of having children of his own. Maybe the thought of settling down once passed through his head but, it's not something he'd really be searching or ever thinking about now.
