okay the extent to which your amazing fucking fics are possibly infecting every corner of my brain now is starting to get legitimately concerning,,, which isn't actually news, but what IS new is the way i looked at that one BvS gif you just blogged yesterday?? and IMMEDIATELY saw the facial expression ben affleck made and went "WOMAN!!!"

....LOOK MAYBE I'M THE CRAZY ONE HERE, I GET IT OKAY but like,, something about that bitchy expression where you just KNOW he's saying the pettiest fucking line just then?!?! i swear on my life i have NEVER seen a cis man's face do that before, with the CLOSEST approximation i possibly would have thought anybody with a Y chromosome was capable of [before seeing that gif] being the sort of expressions drag queens do. (i hope that doesn't sound too weird/dismissive — not to go off on too much of a tangent, but i could probably write At Least one essay on why it's okay to admit that drag as an art form is not really an accurate depiction of femininity, AS LONG AS you acknowledge that drag is still Absolutely a beautifully, passionately written love letter TO the concept of femininity that fully deserves the appreciation it gets; but this is still not what i'm actually here to talk about lol)

okay yeah ANYWAYS that gif just absolutely SOLD me on the concept of bruce as an omega, and i'm saying this as someone who literally already has an omega!bruce WIP!! like, i've always thought the core philosophy behind batman tends to make him unintentionally very female-coded (and i must confess, i'm really curious to see whether you already have an opinion on this lol) in many different ways, but this is the first time i've seen/heard ANY GUY, let alone a batman actor with the right physicality to be batman, pull of this specific look, so i guess i'm just... shocked to be vindicated??? idk lol but i wanted to share so hope u at least enjoyed my manic ramblings a little bit <3 -krish

Batfleck is pretty! I've been saying that for years! He's this very intriguing mix of pure Batman physicality like you mentioned (man is canonically bigger than Clark in BVS) but also so beautiful and downright mesmerizing in certain close-ups on his face. Plush lips, high cheekbones, big, shining eyes? On Batman?? Sign me up!!

People laughed at me when I specifically started a coral room in the BVS universe, because I know most superbat a/b/o fics generally use a smaller, more omega-typical Bruce (which isn't bad!). But I wanted to challenge the trope stereotype by still having large, muscular Bruce lean into those more feminine moments like you mentioned -- it's an interesting contrast, seeing him hold so much space and power yet as soon as he makes eye contact with Clark, it's almost...sensual.

I think there are a lot of interesting stereotypical female roles Batman as a character unintentionally fulfills. He's the head of a family, the emotional center, the one adopting children, the one reassuring them. The fun I'm having with a sky of honey is just letting Bruce name these behaviors for what they are, in universe -- attempts at fulfilling his instincts that he keeps trying to curtail or avert entirely.

LPI 2024 Post-Skate Thoughts

TL;DR - Awful starting order, great first skates, scored within expectations.

This was BV's first 24/25 season comp, the debut of their new programs, and only just the third international comp since Vanya's release. I made some predictions going into this, based on ISU ranking with some bias influence on their starting order and external factors (injuries, new partnerships, first senior season etc.).

RD - They might be #1 in our hearts but starting first is not ideal and I believe they could have scored 1-2 points higher had they went in the middle. The elements were super fresh and it was a good clean skate.

The overall pace did feel rushed and could use some polishing but this will come in through the rest of the season. My main concern here is song choice, the middle section drew out longer than I would have preferred. In general, people (incl. judges, I would gamble) weren't familiar with them and this hurt their scores. Also, they were in training wear - no costumes so there's definitely room for improvement all around. FD - Such a beautiful choreography, my god, Kaitlyn Weaver has done it again. Extremely new source material, the movie came out in 2023. While it was highly rated by film critics and saw commercial success, it isn't widely known and that too shows in the scores.

My hope is as people understand it as a piece of VERY original art on ice, more will hop on board, including the judges' scores. There's a beautiful story being told here and the acrobatic lifts are impressive. Let's work on the lines, pookies, because this could EAT in nationals. I know it will.

Bill Viola at Milan’s Palazzo Reale

It is challenging to exercise one's polemical verve with a "great artist" (according to the definition of the exhibition's authors), because great is an adjective that is always debatable: great is Pontormo, great perhaps are, in BV's favorite subjects, de Hooch, ter Borch, certainly Vermeer and Rembrandt, and, in the exercise of their exclusive tool, Beuys, Warhol, Bela Tarr and certainly Carmelo Bene. But I didn’t mentioned the Dutch and Pontormo randomly, because the deference paid to them by BV is explicit (see the captions) as well as indubitable at a glance. And this makes the exhibition at Palazzo Reale perfect and its author, if not great, at least, very good. In fact, one of the indispensable tasks of an artist, of any self-respecting artist, is precisely to help look at art with new eyes, to revive it, to protect it from the multitude of idiots bombarding it from all sides. But there’s more: a skillful and undoubtedly very bold use of the favored medium: large-format video. Meanwhile, there is a characteristic that has been evident since his first works appeared on the scene (I’m thinking of the famous dive shot in slow motion and up close, exhibited at the Venice Biennale many years ago): I am talking about the slowness, the potential of slow motion, pushed to the extreme by new digital technologies.

I didn’t mention the Hungarian film-maker and the famous fathers of video, Warhol and Beuys, randomly: they not only preceded him in the use of slowness and the fixed frame (if you think about Chelsea Girls, 24Hours, the stillness of the German artist seated impassible in the foreground for 15 minutes) but also revealed the dysfunctions of Cinema through their works It is certainly a merit the fact that BV takes advantage of today’s last technical possibilities and means to improve his creations. Every artist should.

Then what leaves me unsatisfied?

Modern-day art shows a dangerous weakness precisely in its uncritical kneeling to last new technologies. BV rightly decides to pursue those obsessions that make up human spirituality, those that make us different from animals, such as the concept of life, birth, decay, death, the unexpected event, the act of praying, but at the same time and to his discredit he minimizes the contact with matter (in physical terms) (in this case, water and fire) to a merely digital expression. Is this the result of the limitation imposed by the digital means? Imperfection, vulgarity, the human evilness (so clear in an artist as Bela Tar); the love for detail, the beauty of dirtiness, so evident in Pelešjan’s work and, with a more than justified excess, in Carmelo Bene; the barochism, so important in the European culture from Borromini onward (toward which artists like Carmelo Bene and Beuys show great attention); all these things are completely absent in his work. Everything is perfect, the “painting” accurately portraits the memory of Visual Arts. Nevertheless, however unfair I may sound towards a very meaningful and communicative work such as BV’s, I would summarize with a Rococo line: "Perdrix, perdrix, toujours perdrix! Un peu de merde [s’il vous plait]” (my contribution to Louis XIV’s quote).

E questo rende la mostra a Palazzo Reale perfetta e il suo autore, se non grande, almeno bravo, molto bravo. Infatti uno dei compiti imprescindibili di un artista, di qualsiasi artista che si rispetti, è proprio quello di aiutare a guardare l’arte con occhi nuovi, a farla rivivere, a proteggerla dalla marea di cretini che la assediano da tutte le parti. Ma c’è di più: un uso sapiente e senza dubbio molto audace del mezzo prediletto: il video a grande formato. Intanto c’è da sottolineare una caratteristica evidente fin dalle sue prime opere comparse sulla scena (sto pensando al famoso tuffo ripreso al rallentatore e da vicino, esposto alla Biennale di Venezia molti anni fa): parlo della lentezza, delle potenzialità del rallenty, spinto all’estremo dalle nuove tecnologie digitali. Ma non ho citato a caso nemmeno l’ungherese e i famosi padri del video, Warhol e Beuys, non tanto perché lo hanno preceduto nell’uso della lentezza e del quadro fisso (si pensi per es. a Chelsea Girls,  a 24Hours, all’immobilità del tedesco dietro la camera che lo riprende seduto in primo piano), perché le deficenze del cinema, anche quello d’autore, diventano scoperte proprio in virtù del lavoro di costoro. Che BV ne tenga conto usando le potenzialità del mezzo odierno è titolo di merito: un artista ha il dovere preciso di sfruttare al meglio i propri mezzi. E lui lo fa.Cosa mi lascia insoddisfatto allora?L’arte dei nostri giorni mostra una debolezza pericolosa proprio nella genuflessione acritica alla tecnologia d’avanguardia. BV decide giustamente di percorrere le ossessioni che producono la spiritualità umana, quelle che lo differenziano dalla bestia, la vita, la nascita, la decadenza, la morte, l’evento imprevisto, la preghiera, ma assoggetta il contatto con la materia, in questo caso l’acqua e il fuoco, al solo mezzo digitale. E’ il limite della scelta del mezzo? La sbavatura, la volgarità, la cattiveria umana (così pregnanti in un artista come Bela Tar), l’amore del particolare, la bellezza della sporcizia, evidenti nell’opera di Pelešjan e, con un eccesso più che giustificato, in Carmelo Bene, il barocchismo, così importante nella cultura europea da Borromini in poi (verso il quale artisti come appunto Carmelo Bene e Beuys mostrano grande sensibilità) sono in lui completamente assenti. Tutto è perfettissimo, il quadro sposa la memoria dell’arte, però se non passassi per eccessivamente ingiusto nei confronti di un lavoro che fa riflettere, sintetizzerei con una battuta, datata appunto rococò: “Perdrix, perdrix, toujours perdrix! Un peu de merde” (SVP, aggiungo io a Louis XIV).

Self Care 101 🦋

In this post I’ll be outlining my current routines as they relate to self care. I’ll cover everything from head to toe making sure not to skip your spirit. You cannot be a girl of ANYONE’S dreams if you aren’t taking care of the most important person in your world: you.

mornings:

wash face with gentle cleanser from curology, tone with organic Mamonde rose water and finish with rich moisturizer and spf30

brush teeth with activated charcoal toothpaste by Crest and baking soda for whitening and gum clarity

take vitamins : woman’s one a day, hair skin nails, biotin, vitamin c

drink glass of water then a cup of tea

black tea, raw cane sugar, a lemon slice, ginger

good for energy, immune function, and detox

showers:

this may sound so extra (😅), but depending on my hairstyle, I sometimes like to let the shower run for about five minutes with the door closed to create a sauna effect. this is especially if I have a mask on my hair.

my showers usually are about 20-30 minutes

I have a back brush, pink exfoliating gloves, a loofah, and tree hut body scrubs and I use them ALL.

I wash first with my dove beauty bar to assure clean skin before washing with EITHER my OGX Shea So Soft body wash or Dove Renewing Peony and Rose Oil body wash to add scent or silkiness to my skin.

hair removal:

I haven’t yet mastered the art of waxing myself so I’m still riding the shave wave. *when I do I’ll make a post 4 that*

I exfoliate throughly before AND after shaving

I shave my entire body using Tree Hut Shaving Oil and a nice conditioner I’m not using. This leaves my skin super soft and silky and helps the razor to glide without skipping. I use Gillette Venus. no less than five blades, anything less is ASKING for nicks and a hard time.

when I don’t feel like shaving, I use Nair. use at your own risk. yes, I Nair my ENTIRE BODY. only leaving it on for about 7 minutes I rinse in WARM (not hot) water and exfoliate afterwards. it is imperative to moisturize after to avoid irritation. however, Nair is much easier to do than shaving and seems to last an inkling longer.

after shaving, once a month, I pull out my KENZZI. it’s an IPL device and it has helped to slow the growth of my hair. it’s noticeable for us long, thick haired chicks. I use the second to lowest setting as a melanated babe, as the higher settings could burn me.

I know many endorse the hair on women movement and I can understand it. But I personally love my skin silky, hairless, and smooth.

nights:

after eating dinner, I wash my face and apply the tiniest bit of glycolic serum and my curology night cream. my skin has been the best it’s been in a few years. then I brush my teeth and rinse with peroxide.

every four days I give myself a facial

An at home honey and aloe mask

I apply a rich facial moisturizer and get to bed.

I then write in my planner my new plans and what I did that day if I hadn’t already. then after that I script and make mood boards in my diary. then I read a little. currently reading: Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin, and Live Like a hot Chick by Jodi Lipper.

emotions:

I talk to my grandmother about my feelings, she helps me sort things out. please try to find one person you trust to talk to, my messages are always open. 💓 I often overthink. I suffer from anxiety and clinical depression. sometimes these things make me FEEL limited. these experiences wax and wane. I remind myself that the darkness is temporary.

I write in my diary what I feel and track my emotions for potential patterns. I don’t manufacture or sugar coat my feelings, I just talk.

sometimes you need a good cry. let it out. clean your slate. you’ll always feel better, sometimes great after a hard, deep sobbing cry.

I try to get out of the house and get some sunlight. it helps brighten my mood sometimes.

baths:

LOVE taking baths I don’t care what the status quo is about dirt. just rinse off. I love wrapping my hair up and soaking in warm-hot water.

first I run the water. as it’s running I add my bubble bath, then body wash, then my Shea Moisture fragrant coconut oil. it smells soooo good, literally yummy. then I inevitably scream from dipping my toe in the hot water. finally I get in, scrub down my body, emphasis on feet. then I wash, and just relax. I’ve even fallen asleep in the tub once, I was so zen.

careful not to soak too long or overdo it with your products. synthetic materials lingering in your lady bits for too long cause cause infections like bv or uti

some women add tea tree oil, acv, or even Aztec clay to their baths for wellness purposes. I love adding essential oils to my baths to relax and the natural scent is just great 🥺

when I get out I always put something that feels lush and soft on. *invest in super soft, comfy bath towels, they’ll make you feel so luxurious and soft after a nice relaxing bath*

flower:

the yoni is something sensitive that needs to be taken care of thoroughly, and differently than the rest of your body. it’s not recommended to use soaps down there, it can unbalance things and make you itch. also make you prone to infection. this is why I use clear warm water to clean. if I use soap it’s a sensitive, gentle formula. don’t ever try to clean the cavity. she’s a self cleaning vessel.

to shave, I trim my hair down as close as possible and use a FIVE BLADE razor with conditioner and take my time. making sure not to pass a spot twice, I apply moderate pressure and move slowly. when finished I rinse and scrub gently. I PAT not rub dry. to finish off I apply TendSkin, and salicylic acid to avoid ingrowns. once that’s soaked in I apply shea butter. very soft and pretty 🌸

⚠️ DO NOT PUT ON TIGHT PANTIES OR RIGHT PANTS AFTER SHAVING. it restricts the hairs and causes irritation and ingrowns. throw on some comfy loose shorts for a while, let it breathe

dietary needs:

drink plenty of water

cranberry juice

vitamin c

minimal red meat

probiotics

at home vagacial for the high maintenance girlies:

*make any necessary extractions with pointed and slanted tweezers *

scrub: 

brown sugar, tea tree oil, a little shea butter

exfoliating and anti inflammatory

mask:

baking soda, fresh lemon juice, vitamin e oil, papaya juice, gelatin

fixes discoloration and brightens the skin while softening

moisturize:

aloe vera gel, rose hip seed oil

smelling sweet:

ah yes, my favorite part. I love fragrance so much. I love to smell like you could literally break off a piece of me and eat it.

I find that using fragrant washes and oils make your scent more strong and help it linger. I already mentioned the body washes I use. the tree hut scrubs I use smell amazing also. I alike to add essential oils and man made scents like strawberry and chocolate to my Shea Moisture oil (so yummy).

I also use a fragrant lotion, eau de parfum, and fragrance mist.

it’s super important to keep your hair moisturized. quenched tresses move, grow, shine and bounce. dry hair is limp, lackluster, and extremely fragile

my fav diy deep conditioner:

a banana, half an avocado, three spoons of honey, an egg, a spoonful of mayo, a spoonful of coconut, olive, and castor oil each

strength from egg, avocado, mayo and olive oil

moisture from avocado and honey

cover damp CLEAN hair and scalp in mixture and cover with a plastic bag, then towel for an hour, rinse thoroughly, and seal in moisture

helpful tips:

when shampooing, concentrate on the scalp and wash thoroughly twice, as the suds will naturally cleanse your stands without drying and stripping them

rinse hair with apple cider vinegar every now and then. it restores your ph balance, smooths the cuticle, clarifies the strands, and adds shine

always add oil and leave ins to DAMP hair, never dry; this will ensure you’re sealing in moisture

try to use smooth fabrics to dry your hair, bath towels encourage frizz and breakage

hands and feet:

and last but not least, let’s cover manicuring and pedicuring.

it’s super important to make sure your nails are either DONE or filed, shaped, and smooth. at home maintenance is super easy. make a point to scrub your hands and feet well when bathing. make sure to stay on top of your cuticles by trimming or pushing them back. I like the look that pushing them gives. I use an orangewood stick, metal pusher and cuticle softener to make the process super easy and safe. after I’m done I add my pineapple scented cuticle oil. I do this on my fingers and toes.

invest in a rasp and pumice stone for your feet and use these gently every two weeks after soaking them in warm foot salts. rough usage can cause cuts and irritation. in between treatments keep your feet soft by slathering them in a moisturizing foot cream, cocoa/shea butter then oil to seal it all in. buy some soft thick aloe infused socks and wear them to sleep. you’ll thank me 😉

StEx Appreciation Month Day Twenty-Nine: Favorite Character

OF COURSE, my favorite character is BV!

From the genius inspiration, to the way he's portrayed by some of my favorite actors (Gary Sheridan, Tom Nihill, Terence Uphoff, all pictured above), BV is my all time favorite character from the show. I absolutely love to write him as well - spending so much time crafting his backstory, his family, his life, what happens post canon. He means so much to me and I love him dearly :)

Some headcanons I have:

He's colorblind and can't see blue

He has a pet bearded dragon named Noodle that he takes on freight runs from time to time (Dustin always asks if he can say hello and/or feed him a blueberry)

His hands are always really cold

One of the (multiple) rings he wears is a fidget ring, so he always has something to do with his hands

He paints his nails black (mostly to keep from chewing on his nails, but also cause it looks really good)

He loves to people watch when on runs, not carrying anything that needs to be unloaded at any stop, and therefore gets bored waiting. So he's taken to watching the humans instead

He gesticulates a lot when he speaks

He has some of the prettiest and most impressive spins

He has a NY accent

He uses terms of endearment casually, but it's obvious when he actually does mean it versus him just wanting something out of someone

He's only cut his hair twice in his entire life, hence why it's pretty long

Part of the reason that he hides his hair is because it's distracting and he will fiddle with it, chew on it, etc

with the 2 first roures finishing what are your takes on Vladimir and Beliath so far? What you dislike and like about them? And how would you rathe their routes based on story, romance, illus and their personalities? Would you change something about them? Maybe counting with Eloise too what do you think about her personality in each route? 👀

Mmmhh... I think I’ve talked about this here and there many times, but let’s see... I’ll put all my thoughts into one post.

The Characters

I liked both Vladimir and Beliath, they were not the guys I was aiming for from the beginning, but by the end I really ended up liking them both. Vlad is so calm and elegant, but then he gets mad and goes wild and I like this dichotomy a lot, I find it very hot 👀 the fact that he has such a passionate side hiding behind his cold, calm exterior. And the fact that he is always so melancholic, the moment he smiles it’s so meaningful, it makes my heart burst 💕. Also, I just love his hair. Beliath is... hot, there’s no word around it, he managed to make me look past his clothes, I thought it was going to be impossible. This experienced aura that surrounds him... plus him being half incubus... you know he has skills 👀 and it turns out he’s such perfect boyfriend material? Who would’ve ever thought? Once he finally cut the crap with the secrecy and admits his real nature I have really nothing to blame him for relationship-wise.

The routes

Again, I like both, for different reasons. Vladimir’s route is very clean cut and easy to follow. They start not being able to stand each other and chapter by chapter you see them getting closer and closer. His route has more the classic structure of a standard romance: they meet, they become friend, they kiss and fall in love, they have sex, they deal with the enemy and then live happily ever after. Beliath’s route is more mature and tangled, their relationship is not clear at all at first, they provoke each other all the time, it’s such a back and forward, but the moment they really get together, as I said before, relationship goals. Still, I think it’s significant that we get a kiss illustration only in the happy ever after. Contrary to Vlad, that’s where the fairy tale begin, right at the end.

So, while on one hand Beliath’s route was more intriguing, Vlad’s route was... logic, if the word makes sense in this context. Once I figured out how the system worked, it was “easy” to understand him and how the different choices would work with his reactions and his endings. Beliath, instead, was a nightmare, I managed to unlock all his endings eventually, but I still don’t know why and how. I haven’t grasped yet the logic behind most of his choices (and at this point I never will).

One of the winning points of this game is that it keeps you guessing and chapter by chapter you learn bits and pieces about the characters, their story and background. It seems, from what we have seen so far, that Vlad’s is the true route, his story is intertwined with Eloise’s, while both Beliath’s and Ivan’s (from what we have seen so far) are all about them. Plot-wise I found Vlad’s route probably more intriguing partially because it’s the first so you know nothing about Neil and Eloise’s story, Beliath’s route has Leandra and Asmodee as additional characters so it was also interesting to find out about them.

The endings

I absolutely loathed Vlad’s endings. Luckily they fixed the good one so I’m happy about that, but I find his neutral one very yikes... the bad one is better than the neutral one in my opinion, but the topic of suicide is something that I don’t really like to see in my escapism. Nevertheless, I think it fits well with the character and all in all it worked. On the other hand I liked Beliath’s endings much more, I think his neutral ending is probably my favourite ending so far, because it’s both romantic and meaningful, a bit sad but also full of hope for the future. His love for Eloise saves him, pushes him to accept something he had ran away from his whole life and chooses life, exactly the opposite of what happens with Vladimir... Beliath’s bad ending is also very romantic, his words about how he really only started to live when he met her... how can the others top this?? Honestly, loveboy set the bar veeery high.

Eloise

I like Eloise, I don’t care what people say, I like her, she can be both a badass and a nice person. On Beliath’s route more than Vladimir, probably. She is not perfect of course, there are some things I wish she did differently, like she should be more assertive in pointing out that that’s her home and she should find something to occupy her days with. But it’s also true that she has to come to terms with a lot of life-altering news and situations so I can only partially blame her. 

The art

I adore ML’s art. I find the backgrounds particularly beautiful and the illustrations are also chef’s kiss. Yes, I know they are not perfect, but I have 0 art skills myself so I don’t care. My favourite illustrations are Vlad 5 and 6, and Beliath 5 and 7.

Things I didn’t like

As I mentioned before, I would have liked more agency for Eloise, make her do something else other than revolving completely around her vampire. Maybe we could see her learn about her powers, study them, use them for her own agenda. Another thing I didn’t like is that I think Beliath’s chapter 10 has a plothole, I don’t understand how he left the house, but maybe I missed something. I also didn’t like how they clearly decided that one vampire was supposed to die in each route, just for shock value, fortunately they fixed this in the good ending. Oh and yeah I hate how they write women-against-women, but what’s new? BV does that all the time... the day they will stop making their MC’s jealous of other women I will throw a party, you are all invited.

Why I like them

This kid has been through so much and rightfully feels a lot of hurt and anger towards the world because of everything that happened to them, and I,,, Get That. In a lot of ways they remind me of being an angry and lonely teen, and seeing how they navigate the world and cope with their life is in a lot of ways very comforting and validating. They’re just such a real character and I appreciate them a lot for that.

Why I don’t

With all of the above said, sometimes I do wanna punt Lost for their anger and outbursts. They are a little shit and if they were a kid I knew at that time of my life i’d wanna square up with them. But they’re honestly quite valid for their behavior and now I kinda just want to see them taken care of and listened to - they deserve that much.

Fuck I haven’t read the actual fics with them in so long so my memory is fuzzy so I’ll go with Brokenverse scenes, but the bit with all the younger BVs playing never-have-I-ever and Lost just decimating them all in the end,,, that was Iconic and I’m so proud of this little shit.

Purl is probably the most unique take on Hollow I’ve seen so far and I LOVE THAT ABOUT THEM. Purl has so much personality and sass and these clear and distinct interests and behaviors and mannerisms and I just,,,,, god I love them so much. I love seeing a Hollow recover and find such a strong identity in their new life, like they are definitely one of my favorite Hollows out there.

Ok I remember their knitfic very vividly simply because I helped beta it, so I can actually pull from that but!!! the moment when they close off again after tearing the thread and their ensuing frustration,,,, that Spoke to me so much in such a deep way. That whole fic tbh was full of a lot of moments that hit very close to home for me, and there’s always going to be a level of comfort and safety to find it reading that fic.

I am LOVING seeing them interacting with all the other Hollows in the Brokenverse rps, especially them interacting with Wings!!!

Chapters: 53/? Fandom: Dragon Ball Rating: Explicit Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con Summary:

With Earth destroyed, Bulma and the Z gang find themselves in an outer space guerilla war against a tyrant. The mysterious Vengeance seems to be the only hope to win the war against Frieza, but teaming up with him brings its own set of problems.

 AU, ensemble cast but with focus on BV. Several other pairings (m/F and m/m) and non-romantic relationships get significant screen time.

While Vengeance often appears to be a light-hearted, funny story, there are darker elements running through several storylines. Warnings of non-con are for isolated incidents and don't reflect the story as a whole, but explicit descriptions of sex, violence, and general depravity are contained within these chapters.

Of all the Vegebul fics I have read, this one is easily my favorite. It has nuance, gives (almost) every character full and rich motivations and story lines. You find yourself rooting for the oddest pairs and weirdest people. I can not recommend this story enough, and if you wanna read my thoughts on it, lets dive into spoilers below the cut! 

So this story has something for everyone. You want thick well thought out and executed plot? DONE! Humor? DONE! Large cast of characters, both canon and OC who are all pretty well flushed out? DONE! Smut? Name your poison, chances are, its in here. There is so much about this story that I love that I am struggling with exactly the best way to organize my thoughts. So instead of agonizing over it, instead I am just gonna throw away all my careful notes that I have taken during my read and just freaking ramble! 

I think the first thing that people are a little put off on is the rare pair of RaditzXPuar. I will tell you that I 5,000 percent ship these two and it is all because of reading this fic. I love it so much that I MAY have even taken some time to draw my own fan art for the pair, but lets just leave THAT in the vaults xD When Raditz first encounters Puar, he is NOT a cat. Puar is in a Human form and is shifted to be Bulma. Raditz immediately is attracted to Puar’s scent and when they later encounter each other in a bar and end up ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ ) Ray is still just enamored by Puar’s scent. Whenever we see Rays POV in-between the time that Ray has fucked Human Puar, and the time that Puar is discovered, Ray keeps catching scents of the cat. And it drives him fucking wild. He later says that he is so crazy for Puar that he was about to fuck a houseplant cause it reminded him of Puar. Beyond that we get the backstory on Bonding and that basically Saiyans bond to a mate kinda at random so Ray has basically taken Puar as his husband. Raditz is really a great lover, there is a relationship imbalance between the two, but Ray doesnt take advantage of it. Its really a pretty healthy relationship. Puar gets jealous of some stuff, Ray gets WAY jealous of stuff but they always seem to talk it over. Shit at one point Ray dreams of having kids with Puar, and he is swiftly reminded that Puar is a MAN and will never be and never wants to be a WOMAN. 

A huge part of me feels like this Puarditz pairing is commentary on identity, self acceptance and love. Ray is constantly telling Puar that he doesnt care what his body looks like (except that he is excited to see Puar has a tail), only that it is Puar that he is in love with. It is only Puar Ray wants, no matter if he is a human, cat, plant, screwdriver or anything else. Puar talks about how he feels weird in his cat body, but it is his natural form and he wants to change and be bigger, more menacing, or just different. And I think we can all appreciate that sentiment at some point in our lives, but I can also see this as a low key message about trans acceptance and its fucking beautiful. Hell even Bulma tells Puar that he should take whatever form he is most comfortable in and basically fuck everyone who disagrees. I love that message and I love this pair - fight me. 

I really want to talk about another pretty complex character in this fic, Zarbon. He struggles with so much shame and negativity in this story. He hides behind his good looks and his hair, and when that shit gets cut off, Zarbon is a completely different man, it is shedding his old evil skin and literally growing into his own as a new man, a better person, and you start to care about him. His time with Frieza has basically ruined his ability to have any sort of healthy relationship - friend or other, because he resorts to sex for just about any close relationship he has. The FIRST person he meets after being rescued from Frieza, he starts bedding. Hell he promises a pity fuck to Burter for rescuing him, and come on.. I have never wanted a Burger sex scene more than when I was reading this fic. No really... Catgirl has a way of making you root for just about everyone... I think  that besides the slavers, the only character I HATE is Frieza, and thats pretty cool. AND Speaking of Frieza, shit hes a bad dude in this story. There aren't many POVs of him, and we see a lot of Frieza through Zarbon, Vegeta and Burter, but the POVs after Zarbon escapes and Frieza is trying to replace him is she fucked up shit. You really see his madness when he is sitting in the bloody tub stroking the hair of the dead attendant wishing it was Zarbons. He repeatedly states how much he gave to Zarbon, and how he basically loved him, but then you see him torture the poor man, sexually assault him, and generally just be a complete tyrannical asshole to him. 

The way the Nameks are handled is really cool. I love the nod to canon with them living with the Briefs on Red Station, I love watching Dende figure out how to lead, and struggle with his followers. I love how he makes the decision to room with Gohan as a way of bridging the gap between the Namekians and the Saiyans. The decisions Dende makes shows that he is dedicated to moving forward and not being stuck in the past. But you see him still struggling with things in the past, Zarbon for example. it is hella tense for a while when he first comes aboard because Dende feels Zarbon is responsible for the demise of his people, and Dende seeks out others help and advice on how to manage his feelings. He gets several peoples views and chooses what he thinks is the best, just like a good leader would. He even attempts to make Piccolo feel more welcome in the Namekian contingent of beings on Red Station.

Nappa is a super important character for the beginning of the story. He is the voice of Saiyan past and he advises Vegeta, wether he takes the advice or not. Overall he is the Father figure Vegeta needs (a common role for him) but he tells Vegeta and Raditz about bonding and Gohan comments that it sounds like LOVE. Nappa has some really shitty moments with Bulma, but overall I really like the sweet peeks into his head, when he thinks about his dead wife and babies, or when he tears up about the thought of Bulma and Vegeta having “little princes” of their own, is just heartwarming. And the attraction to Momma Briefs is cute and funny and provides so much ammunition for Bulma to hate Nappa (and boy do they hate each other)

I kinda hate how K18 gets treated in this story, and part of that is how long it takes for 18 to come about, and another part of that is the fact that the story isn't finished. I feel like 18′s android qualities are REALLY played up, which isn't a bad thing - great characterization in fact... but poor Krillin deserves so much better than being mounted with no foreplay and then immediately being engaged... Now I will say that I really like both of these characters in this fic, just wish things were finished cause their relationship has so much more to explore. 

I have both love and hate the Vegebul relationship dynamics in this story. They obviously care for one another, but the relationship seems super unhealthy... there is really no talking, relationship building going on in story. a LOT of fucking sure, but it almost feels like these two banter, fuck but don't really know one another.. and thats kinda sad.. I like that part of a Vegebul fic. Bulma is legit scared of Vegeta on multiple occasions and even in the last published chapter Vegeta looks at her and thinks that she is a monster just like him. And hell with her improvements to the Ki Circlet, she probably is. I will say that their smut is A++ fantastic, it is real, sometimes it is awkward (when they fuck in her lab it is both hot and funny) and there is always a mention of safe sex. 

With all the time spent on, pretty much everyone, including 2 OCs, it is sad that 17, Dr. Briefs and Tien don't get a little more love. They have very very brief scenes peppered throughout the story, and they just seem like after thoughts.. Shit Roshi and Oolong have more impact on the story than any of these three do and thats just a bummer. I am gonna say that maybe they have parts in the unwritten bots of the fic, but who knows if it will ever be updated, much less finished at this point. 

This story is fantastic. I can not recommend it enough. The relationship dynamics alone are fantastic, never mind the fact that Catgirl is FUCKING FANTASTIC at showing not telling, but even when she tells it is impactful. She has a wonderful grasp of character voice and each POV feels like it is actually that characters POV, told through them, not through the lens of a narrator. There are some amazing quotes in this story, some are just funny, 

Others.. Not so much.... 

These are a bunch of misfits thrown together, fighting to survive, and ultimately building a home. Hell Zarbon sees it and is shocked by it.. He says he is amazed by Vegeta “Floating around this country cottage of a ship, lord and master of an assortment of weaklings.” And Zarbon is right. Vegeta is the lord and master of this rag tag crew, and Bulma is their Queen. Their relationship is the glue that holds this little family together. This story is a tale of their struggle to defeat Frieza, but thats not what this story is ABOUT. This story is about, family, friends, love, home and ultimately all the wholesome things humanity has to offer. Sometimes we fuck up, and fight and create drama, but we persevere through those trials and (hopefully) become stronger, more well rounded and more human. And that is a really nice message.

Episode 1  2

The glowing sun. The strange black and white birds flying across the sky. The sweet sounds of “fuck off mate” entering Y/N’s ears every 5 minutes. Australia.

After landing in Sydney yesterday, the squad were relieved to hear that they could relax in the morning, free from any appointments or activities. Y/N and the Melanin king also known as V were lounging by the hotel pool, trying to soak up as much sun as possible, before they were to go back home, where they would be freezing their tits off. Jungkook was also by the pool, but instead of relaxing he was filming the latest edition of his ‘Golden Closet Film’ series, resulting in Jimin and Jin posing like stupid idiots near the outdoor bar. Namjoon was inside, frantically looking for his passport- DESPITE ONLY ARRIVING YESTERDAY. Y/N hoped a repeat of season one wouldn’t happen, although she would love to make fun of him again. Suga, well, everyone knew what he would be doing. Sleeping. No one blamed him though. He had barely gotten enough sleep over the last few days, stating that his “creative juices” were flowing and he couldn’t afford to take a break, and waste the opportunity of producing a hit. J-Hope was in the hotel store, purchasing some souvenirs for his sister.

They spent the morning lounging, not speaking much, not doing much, but just relaxing. They deserved it. With an upcoming tour, and not to mention the new album release, they were in over their heads. Then again, it was exactly what they signed up for. No complaining. Just occasional tears and sore muscles. Nothing they couldn’t handle.

At 4pm, they all stood outside the hotel, some styled better than others. Y/N was wearing her signature denim high waisted shorts, with a white ‘I Love AUS’ shirt tucked in at the front. She had a tradition of wearing souvenirs on all their trips, and she wasn’t planning on stopping anytime soon. To complete her look, she had put on a simple pair of silver hoops which accompanied her Pandora bracelet which Suga had given her for her birthday. J-Hope was rocking his signature pouch, whilst Suga was decked from head to toe in black. Black. In summer. In 40 degrees. That boy was crazy.

The camera’s started rolling, people on the street stopped and stared. Their producer began explaining what exciting events would occur today.

“You may have bungee-jumped in BTS Run, You may have flown in hot air balloons on tour, but today you will be climbing on of Australia’s most famous monuments.”

“They have famous monuments?”

“The Opera house”

“THE ROCK!”

“For Fu- Goodness sake Jimin-ssi, it’s ULURU!”

“When Jungkook knows more about Australia than he does about me CONSIDERING HE DIDN’T WISH ME HAPPY BIRTHDAY”

“Jin Hyung, I didn’t wish you happy birthday as I thought I’d be respectful and not remind you that you’re a year closer to dying.”

“Are we climbing the Harbour Bridge?”

The staff nod, evidently happy that the fight between the oldest and Maknae could be postponed.

Then they were off, once again spending a bit off time packing and unpacking the film equipment. They were fortunate to have had a hotel near the harbour, meaning that they could easily get there on foot. It didn’t mean they wouldn’t complain. Jin was complaining that his white sneakers were getting dirty, whilst Y/N wouldn’t shut up about her straighten hair sticking to her lip gloss. Nevertheless they made it to the bridge, and were told to change into some fugly onesies.

They all sat in the briefing room, waiting for their instructor to go over the safety guidelines. J-Hope couldn’t stop pouting over the fact that he would have to take pictures in such unfashionable clothes, whilst RM was giving him a lecture about enjoying the moment.

A young Australian male entered the room. Y/N was expecting someone with pale skin, freckles, beach blonde hair, super tall with muscles bulging under his shirt and a strong Australian accent. Instead, she was presented with a young girl, of Asian decent, who had a smile stretching from ear to ear.

“Hi! I’m Jennie. I’m a massive fan,” she said in proper Korean, whilst she bowed down to all the staff and the squad.

Everyone smiled, and Y/N saw Namjoon relax through the corners off her eye. Although most of them could speak a decent amount of English, it still took some effort to understand what was going on. By having someone who spoke Korean be with them for the next few hours, Namjoon wouldn’t have to play the role of translator, whilst Y/N could make a new friend.

Jennie introduced herself. She has half Korean and Australian, was from Melbourne but was studying Law at University of New South Wales, and spoke decent Korean. She insisted that she was absolute trash, and that she only knew how to hold a basic conversation due to being forced against her will to go to Korean School until she was 16. Her bubbling personality matched Hobi’s, but Y/n had noticed that she avoided eye contact with Jimin. Probably her bias. Y/N would ask her eventually.

Jennie sped through the safety procedure, stopping occasionally to ask Namjoon about some translations. She told them what they should and shouldn’t do, mentioning it was common sense not to jump around at the top of the bridge, in case it might fall. This caused Jin to nearly have a heart attack. Let’s just say her humour was not appreciated, as in Jins words “what would happen if the most Handsome person in the world died.” Y/N snark response of “the world would continue” led to Jin zapping her sides, causing her to fall to the floor.

Before Y/N realised what was happening they were making their ascend up the bridge. Due to being on a budget, it was just BTS and Jennie, the managers were instead taking a mini 2 hour holiday- probably bitching about their childish behaviour.

The climb up was silent, the group marvelling at Syndey’s beauty. Only occasional remarks were heard before the comfortable silence consumed them.

“Oh look it’s the Opera house!”

“There’s the… what’s it called.”

“CN Tower”

“Ahhhh!”

The silence continued whilst they reached the top. All of them struck in awe about the setting that unfolded infront of their eyes.

For Y/N it was almost like a movie. Where the protagonist finds there identity. Where they decide which boy to give their heart to. What university to go for. Except for Y/N, those didn’t matter to her. She didn’t need a boyfriend (although she lowkey wished she had one to annoy the boys) nor was she unsure about her future. But she still felt a sense of nostalgia.  Or reminiscence. She was doing what she loved, surrounded by those she loved. She got to share the stage with her seven brothers and travel the world. Who knows what she would be doing if she wasn’t tricked into going to the Bighit audition by her parents. Would she be on track to spending her life behind a desk. Probably. But because of her family and team believing in her, she was experiencing life. Whether it be sneaking out of a hotel at midnight with Jimin to eat a local delicacy, which upset their stomachs the next morning, or falling asleep on RM’s couch in his studio, when he was going over one of the tracks she badly produced (although he still called it a work of art). Despite the numerous times Jin hyung refused to share his food with her, or the daily occurrences of Suga hyung slamming the Genius Lab door on her face, when she pestered him to leave his studio, she knew that the loved her. And she loved them. And she made sure she expressed it. Whilst they were, more the most part, vocal about their love for each other, she made it her mission to make sure her boys knew she was immensely proud of them. Occasional notes of encouragement were placed in J-Hope’s dance bag, taking Tannie for a walk after rehearsal so V could sleep, or having those deep and meaningful convo’s with Namjoon to ensure he didn’t have too much on his shoulder. Y/N understood how fortunate she was to be living her dream, and she wasn’t ever going to let it go to her-

“AHHHHHH!”

Y/N whipped her head to her left, worried that somehow her idiotic bandmates had found a way to nearly kill themselves.

And as she did a quick head check, she was happy to count 7 heads with very messy hair, due to the strong winds.

Turns out, J-Hope had dropped his vlogging camera. But luckily, their team had envisioned such events, and made them wear a connecting band on their wrist- meaning that the camera currently wasn’t sinking to the bottom of the river.

The descend down was also silent, once again filled with occasional remarks suggesting the editing crew would struggle to make this episode interesting, as barely any words were spoken.

“They can just replace all of Jiminie-hyungs steps with squishy noises.”

“Or they can replace all of Hobi Hyungs screams with your voice crack on stage.”

“fuck off.”

Batman’s News (and my thoughts...)

Remember...these are just the latest information around the upcoming Matt Reeves’ Batman...nothing is set in stone yet. Things are subjected to change. All this is really early.

“According to Discussing Film, Matt Reeves' The Batman will be a detective story set in the decade of Girl Power, Blockbuster Video and Furbies. Their report suggests the film will see The Dark Knight tackling a mystery that returns him to his detective roots and that Reeves is currently rewriting it to add some more action.”

“As additional detail, they say that Reeves will be hiring a known actor - which fits with the profile of the likes of Armie Hammer, who has been heavily linked with the role - and that the project will also look to cast younger versions of Jim Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth, which makes sense, given how integral they are to Batman's early days.”

MY THOUGHTS:

Look, I am not asking for people to agree with me. I am ranting as a fan. These are my thoughts:

What I am excited about...first, the 90s feels...I love the 90s. This also could bring back The Gothic feels back to Gotham...I say this, if you read old 90s Batman...you will understand. yes, Batman is about the techs and gadgets...but damn, where’s the arts, that dark and gothic vibe...no more of that modern or too realistic feels, yes I did enjoyed the Nolan’s era, but I am so over it. (Also, know...that he whitewashed a few of the characters (Ra’s al Ghul, Talia al Ghul, and Bane)...not cool). And Synder, had great ideas, but unfortunately...very limited time and was rushed. So, I am ready to move on. WE ALL NEED TO MOVE ON. BATMAN HAS OVER 80 YEARS OF CONTENTS AND GOING. Nolan AND Synder did a good job, but BATMAN LIVES ON. And Yes, I said it. Synder did a great Batman. He actually had a Batmobile in his films...what the fuck was the Tumbler? I hated that thing. That’s not a batmobile! My favorite of Nolan’s era...was The Dark Knight. The first was okay...the third...kinda of forgettable. Sorry, not sorry. I am moving on.

But what I am most excited for...is this will be a detective movie. This is one of main reasons, I love Batman. It’s the story. It’s the mystery. Not just about the muscles, but the brains too. This goes back to the true core of his comics since the days of Kane and Bill Fingers...no more unnecessary distractions, going back to something more simple, but yet more enriched in storytelling vs. the constantly blowing up things...you know...too much distractions...and more distractions. This is a reason out of other reasons, I think why the audience was so disconnected to BVS and Justice League. Don’t get me wrong, I want action too. But...also let’s go back to the core of Batman again. Give me that feels that I get when I watched a new episode of the Batman, the animated series back in the 90s. Yes, he will kick asses...but yet, it’s always has been about his intelligence first. He is written as the Best Detective in comics and modern literature. Let Batman be a detective. Reintroduced Batman, the way he was introduced 80 years ago as a detective.

Villains, Batman’s villains are iconic and crucial...the rumors are that it will be The Riddler and The Penguin...these are just rumors. Personally, I love these villains but they are overly used in so many mediums for Batman including cinematic films already...Who I wanna see: CLAYFACE, or THE COURT OF OWLS, or TALON...which goes together...or HUSH...even MAN-BAT...or finally do a just and emotional HEART OF ICE with MR. FREEZE...SHIT, I WOULD LOVE...a movie adaption of THE LONGEST HALLOWEEN and releases it...in October. I know, I know...at the moment...Batman is set to release Summer 2021.

AND...to set up future Batman’s movies...built up the COURT OF OWLS storyline...these are just my ideas. These Storylines are what I hope to see adapted in future. Later Sequels, I want to see DEATH IN THE FAMILY, THE NEW 52 ONE...THE JOKER taking one after one of people Batman love...to make Batman, a better Batman...it’s ultimate Joker’s love letter to Batman.

And CLAYFACE...I had an hour conversation with my little brother on how CLAYFACE would be a great villain to start this Batman reboot. Think about it...it’s not about saving millions of lives...which is a bigger scale and of course...it’s important to save as many lives, but too many comics movies in the past decades has already did that...done that...let it be more intimate...more personal...Batman’s world is different than of Aquaman, Wonder Woman...it’s about saving one life...to change others. Think of BTAS, “Feat of Clay” part 1 and 2 as a full length movie. A beautiful face destroyed through greed, vanity, obsessions, and pride...broken, lost, damaged and angry...so willing to burn and kill everything in his way to get his revenge. Great episodes. Now, think about that as a Batman movie...

Hobby Keeper - All 120 Freetime Hobby Posters on BV Travel Keeper

Hey everyone! Scratching another big project off the list today! 💃 Here are all 120 Freetime Hobby Posters on Bon Voyage's ubiquitous Travel Keeper mesh! Details, (lots of) swatches and download below!

@creesims had asked me about putting these posters on the BV mesh. I'd been thinking about putting them on a mesh with some add-ons anyway, so I figured Travel Keeper would be perfect since there are so many variations available.

While the artwork itself fit nicely on the mesh, a lot of the text either smacked right up against the mats, or got clipped by it. I went through and resized/moved the text on just about all of them, so you'll see some slight differences from the originals.

Here are all the designs included (I'm reusing the original swatches since the end result is basically what you see here, aaand I'm not really into re-swatching 120 posters right now XP):

Numbered swatches are included, and everything is sorted into folders so you can easily keep just what you like. I recommend a few add-ons so you can get the most out of these, including:
