writing a little yeehan fic for myself mostly (ill most likely never post it bc its personal but also just oddly obscure and references things only id know + I don't like posting long fics bc I tend to run out of motivation and don't want ppl waiting)

and its been so fun, exploring these concepts and pushing these building blocks of lore, or simple things like how the tech and political landscape is, bc after all it is the 2070s.

Giving these little guys complex ideologies that contradict, exploring how generally kind and nice characters get ticked off, or the surprising maturity of the younger heroes things like that XD

im just havin so much fun with my writing recently and character dynamics... and oh how I can wax and muse about the found family tropes, the everybody hates chris bullying of hanzo, and repairing brotherly bonds. all wrapped up in a way that lets me talk abt philosophy and music I like or whatever I care abt deeply that day.

plus the gross old men yearning enemies to ???, ideas about gender in the 2070s, healthcare/medicine in general, just stupid shit I'm rlly fascinated about.

Amidst the chaos and disappointments that encompassed my last two months, I had a fun connection about two of my favorite brain rot comics - you got an immortal(ish) with a harsh backstory who spirals into obsessive hatred that ends in the stealing of their obsession's bodies and subsequently haunt those family lines and those adjacent to them for generations - and I liken the Zeppelis, who shares the Joestar's generational curse by Dio/immortal creatures in general, to the Conaghers who I also see as helpers to the Mann line Its a really cool angle to look at Engie in, who since I was 14 was my least favorite character lol, this really elevated him for me

And so if the Manns are like the Joestars, that means like, Olivia Man is the equivalent of Joseph lol which is very funny to me

the hatsune miku trend rn where everyones drawing her as their own culture or where they're from is oddly kinda healing after seeing so much AI slop the past several months--its horrid on pinterest, its overwhelming and despairing.

But its refreshing to see so much feeling behind such personal designs of Miku, seeing real people's nostalgia and pride shine through, no two people from the same location will draw her the same, they'll give her their own childhood

The colour scheme now, for the revived traditional wear is a bit more like this:

And I could not resist making an all teal version just for maximum Miku, under the cut!

Also, Miku is young and thus would probably not have gotten the full goldhaube yet, but instead a smaller golden cap meant for teens and young adults. There is of course also a smaller cap even for tiny little ones bc it's cute. Both in gold though.

The first image is from what I gathered from illustrations around the 1890s, the second is closer to what my grandma wears for church processions on holidays, like Easter etc. It's a very shiny black fabric, and the umbrella has the same one. The dress being this short is not a thing anymore, my grandma's dress is almost floor length, but it was in all the old illustrations I found!

Hey @five-rivers, happy truce! I decided to go with your prompt about danny attending a cultural ritual or event, and themed it around the far frozen. My explanation for it got a little longwinded so I've included it under a read more, along with a little extra art!

I'll be honest, I haven't actually thought out the exact details of what this event would be, just the broad strokes - I tend to gravitate towards food as a source of celebration in my own worldbuilding, and I guess that bled through here as well in the form of “ice = water = probable fish based diet = important fish event?”

During drafting I couldn’t really decide between “event centred around observing fish migration and/or other seasonal habits” or “Danny being invited to come fishing with Frostbite and the other yeti”, but honestly I think either of those would probably fit. Originally I had planned to have one or two yeti characters swimming around with him to make the piece more dynamic, but a surprise attack from a migraine kind of cut into my plans a bit and I decided to downsize.

...at least until I got annoyed by the lack of a visible ghost friend in the piece and decided to paint a “small” “”extra”” “””doodle””” which rapidly turned into a whole other Thing,

There are shockingly few ghost fish in the show, apparently, or at least I could neither remember nor find images online of any examples, so I just kind of winged it. Their design is partially inspired by a short story you wrote a while back, although I ended up drifting away from the zebrafish motif as I was drafting them. I started thinking of them as maskfish as a stand-in name, and then promptly forgot to think of a better one, so. Maskfish it is. Here's some random notes I made while conceptualising them, because I constantly have specbio on the brain and couldn't not think about it

Maskfish flesh turns an opaque pale colour when cooked, and remains translucent when raw

Their eyes are covered in a clear, hard exterior, and can be hollowed out and sterilised for use in various crafts; along similar lines I could also see their bones being used to make glues, paints, and other such resources.

Their cores are located at the top of the spinal cord, in the head; their mouths are located on the underside, beneath the "mask", which makes up the entire top part of the head, and is a singular piece of a shell-like material.

Though they aren't particularly agressive hunters, they also aren't picky about their food, and will generally eat anything smaller than themselves.
