Supernatural should have had an episode where the ghosts of a pair of siblings where haunting people. When Sam and Dean investigate they find out that back in the day people murdered them brutally because they were too close and people thought they were committing incest. (After all, they were living together as adults!) Cue: awkward shared glances.

The story would have just the right amount of deniability (people just THOUGHT they were incestuous, no one knew for sure) and no verbally expressed parallel is drawn to Sam and Dean, but oh the sweet agonised looks and awkward silences.

Tbf I have my own "must reads" for fandoms but I don't think there should ever be ONE, you know? Like for wincest there are several that are seen as the iconic ones and while I think there's issues with anything like that inherently which I won't go into, I still subscribe to having my own little list. But the thing that I think places wincest uniquely within this phenomenon is that because there are several different common interpretations of them (and sooooo long of a timespan, both in canon and eras of the fandom itself) as opposed to ships where they get pigeonholed into one fanon narrative, there's different unspoken communities behind each. For instance, I've never read sure got a dirty mouth or the bright lights of disturbia, but I obsess over the ballad of the invisible boy and brothers (the fic). All of which are very popular but each have vastly different interpretations of samdean.
