i think its so funny when people take the way donnie acts at face value even though its a horrible lie because he's a horrible liar, while understanding leo is bullshitting very well despite him actually being GOOD at bullshitting. many such cases

#personal #rottmnt #although tbf its probably because with leo its unpacked more thoroughly in the movie #donnie is not a morally ambiguous emotionally unavailable bad boy. he is very sensitive actually #he's a little crybaby /aff #and like this isnt hidden. he isnt SECRETLY sensitive or secretly caring its very out in the open actually #he's not hiding it well AT ALL AND THEY ALL KNOW IT LMAOOOOOOOO #i think donnie's perception of himself is somewhat earnest and somewhat. not? he DEFINITELY thinks he's more evil than he actually is #BGHFHDHGJFHG #i think what causes him to lash out and struggle to communicate is his inability to articulate his feelings #they are just too big for him. like its the exact opposite of robotic #he cant force himself to give a fuck but when he DOES its too much #so he yells and lashes out or he shuts down completely #honestly i think the perception of him being too sensitive being a problem makes way more sense than the perception of him being 'robotic'#when it comes to struggles in how his family sees him at least #even in little ways you can see him take it pretty personally when he's insulted #he struggles to blow things off #and i think it would also explain his tendency to like. visibly calm himself down when he gets upset? its a thing he does a lot in the show #he desperately wants to destroy that perception of him because he's trying so hard to close himself off #he doesn't want to be the sensitive one that cant take anything. it especially works in line with his shell #it was a big inspiration for canary continuity tbh. donnie should struggle with being the sensitive one in fic more #mikey is more empathetic and he's more emotional but donnie's quicker to feel offended or take things personally #BACKED UP HEAVILY BY CANON #that 'you can be honest with me! no hard feelings' - 'he's lyinggggggg'#like he's not upset with them babying him as much as he is with them genuinely finding it frustrating that he can fall behind like that #and just cannot take shit like that. so he tries to pull back and not seem as affected as he is #theyre a very cuddly family but mind you they can be actually mean to each other like that!!

ruhgh the pilot. the pilotttt.......... the patient getting wilson to reflect on house's actions and he barely has to examine before determining with a little smile that "yeah, he cares about me :) " like it's such a little thing. utterly precious. but also very smoothly gets the audience to think similarly: people will say anything, it's what they do that really shows what they mean and how they feel. love is a verb love is a doing word

#house md #the pilot is sooo strong #very pretty too but that's not here nor there rn #and like you understand on a surface level how all the stuff house does raises hell around the hospital #particularly wrt a patient's treatment #like yeah he does malpractice and he can be caustic which to any passerby would look like he's torturing people for the hell of it #but we see it all go down from house's perspective so we see how thoroughly he dedicates himself to his patients #he'll run tests ON HIMSELF if he must if it will benefit the patient #he'll speak carefully yet not mince his words if he talks to the patient 1 on 1. he DOES want them to get better. whatever that entails #he cares. just not in a way that is typical or even believable at times #and caring about wilson???? EXTREMELY OBVIOUS but only if you like. okay its no secret i dont buy into marazhai being the persona he puts on. so as i've officially met him in game now, im making a list of all the in-game reasons i think he's a bit of an idiot [which i love btw. i find him far more compelling if he's a bit stupid/weird and he's trying so hard not to be but you just know nobody in commorragh is inviting him to parties]

the very first time you get a glance of him on a rooftop and. 'deal with this' "of course" proceeds to just walk off like 3 seconds after the other two

ambushes you. has you cornered. is in optimal position to kick your ass frankly, high ground and better weapons and utilising shock against you. ...he bitches at you for a while, gets insulted, then runs off into the forest with a maniacal cackle

heinrix fired a mild insult [considering what he's like to everyone else its barely an insult] and he took big enough issue with it to start saying how he'll break him and turn him into a pet. oh sure dude you're responding super well to this mild comment from the guy who accidentally insults everyone and their entire ancestral line at some point

i think it says something that he's learned to speak your language fluently too. that Has to be some kind of Yikes moment to admit publicly in drukhari culture. buried family secret great great grandfather drukhari-georg learned to speak mon keigh and now we claim he just spoke oddly because was shot in the head as a child to prevent the shame

he also knows the mon keigh lore that says youre a super special little guy as rogue trader and actually LISTENS to the fact you're the special little guy as rogue trader. and he does treat you as more equal/with more respect than the other characters. thats not just a drukhari culture yikes thats what gets you checked for a concussion or brain damage

literally socially atrocious enough its believed he's working with you [read: with you. not using you, not manipulating, cooperating. this is a big difference i feel] and only he himself doesnt believe it

ignore the fact he eventually DOES work with you which. is its own follow up statement

challenges you to fight him, to give chase then and there. i made him wait while i went through english government simulator where i queued for multiple days, did multiple day/week voidship trips back and forth, got distracted by accidentally starting jae's romance, pasqal telling me to servitorise her, getting blackout drunk with her, shipwide broadcast tm, giving her a voidship, her getting me a space cat, attacked by pirates, dealt with a plague, explored a few extra systems.......................

he destroys your palace. ...its rebuilt effectively within a week. most of the damage is in bodies which are just sent to the poor district to rot [almost feels worse than the damage done good job imperium]

the throne has claw marks. he could've blown it up or shot it or piled corpses on it but no he wanted to sit on the fancy chair and so turned into a common housecat mauling the sofa arm

how long was he just sitting there lounging on that chair? again see how long i kept him waiting. he was just sitting there trying to find a comfy position on this [for him] kinda small chair JUST so he could briefly taunt, break your window with his space motorbike, jump off the chair in a dramatic [but not gunna lie not that impressive] feat of gymnastics, then fly out. he doesnt even shoot at you as he leaves

#warhammer rogue trader #rogue trader marazhai #marazhai rogue trader #marazhai aezyrraesh #dont listen to how he tries to portray himself hes LAME and i thoroughly enjoy that about him #like. marazhai is a social outcast on so many levels and he is trying SO hard to compensate. it makes him incredibly interesting #ive seen some stuff of him later on but not all that much so im really curious how it'll go/how well i've grasped him #my current thoughts on him? he's just. fundamentally someone who desperately wants to be understood #but in all his long life he's never found it. and commorragh isnt a place for weakness like that. so he acts over it #he pretends to be some great evil mastermind with a lot of flair which is Intentional. because he doesnt know how to act like other drukhar #so concealing that is the best he's got. he doesnt realise the yawning gaps that show it for what it is and bring distain on him anyway #drukhari hate him because he's not like them. he's odd and dramatic and takes things to heart when he shouldnt but dismisses things he shou #he's tolerated for his blood connections and how it killing him could be an invitation for feud. he's also easy to get out of the way #send him to go chat to some mon keigh he'll be so fixated on setting the stage for the meeting he'll miss the important stuff #humans hate him bc he's drukhari. they believe the way he portrays himself because it fits propaganda #hell he may've even learned how to act drukhari from human stories. it'd fit tbh. ....i want to think more on this now #either way he loses. and tbh thats why i do like the idea of him with pasqal. theyre both freaks and social outcasts despite their ranks #robot rambles

i was going a little off about how well the squid game 2 narrative is put together as an act 2 of your classic act 1: establish, act 2: deconstruct, act 3: destroy (either the system or the players) dystopia narrative (in this case the act is a season but e.g. in the hunger games it was books) but unfortunately i was with my parents and cheering when thanos got chin stabbed and to defend (?) myself i said "i promise im not enjoying this as much as it seems like i am. im actually enjoying it more"

#when the show has a coherent gorgeous narrative thats trying to send you a message and its done in an incredibly compelling and clever way #THE CROWD CHEERED #i can imagine that a lot of casual viewers are upset that it is no longer a suspense psychological thriller and is moving into #a psychological psychological thriller. i can imagine they are probably upset it is no longer hinging so hard on gihuns emotions #but i think it is PERFECT. especially the bit where hes coaxed back into being his old self for five seconds #he was traumatised so thoroughly that he is no longer the same person and thats the that on that #im so curious about previous game winners and i hope season 3 hits that a bit. because i imagine they are all a bit like um #nasty whats his nuts from season 1 and thanos from season 2 #inho was another outlier. and we see that clearly that the man simply does not value human life #i wonder if that happened during the games or not #anyway. i love this season. im so excited for season 3 #it must feel sooo good if ur a narrative and u get deconstructed< sg3. how i will be enjoying it #casual fans can choke #squid game #squid game 2

#i have a whole world for cunoesse built in my head and i will write it out someday but my thoughts on jean are more organized so #kim chester mack and harry are all around the same rank and dont wear their uniforms so it makes sense that jean doesnt either #before re-reading this i thought jean only cared about his appearance when he was in rcm gear #he clearly cares the rcm's image based on what he says during the tribunal and in the ending where harry runs out of morale #so i figured hed apply that same level of professionalism to himself too and i assumed he always wore it #so maybe hes less about image and more about whats functional #his authority comes from actions not appearance & the very lil control he has #wearing his uniform is prob a recent thing because he wants to show harry what a REAL cop looks like (harry doesnt gaf 💔)#or if theres a big case thats going to be a public spectacle #ofc jeans relationship with his uniform is unique to him #i think mack & chester only dress like that because they think it looks cool they can be a bit superficial #harry and kim's reasons are explained thoroughly in the game so i dont have to go there. it's v purposeful #i love small details like this since it helps build a stronger character profile #esp for characters that arent in the game much #going back to cunoesse she has a small role but theres so much to say about her #based on the way she behaves her dialogue and her relationship to martinaise and cuno #i feel bad whenever ppl say mean things about her shes 10 and traumatized #and her only support system is a traumatized 12 year old who is scared of her #theyre resilient but theyre kids bro...#whatever but yeah jean would have a bunny suit with rcm patches on it fer sure #rambling #i think ive talked about my thoughts on the characters' clothing choices before #irt cuno and cunoesse

#it’s legiterally so stupid like what editor read this story and was like yeah send it #i always knew the back half was bad even as a teenager #but anyone watching this at an age older than 15 can see it never had a leg to stand on #the sheer number of contrivances every episode is exhausting. and all the contrivances work in light’s favor #why would the police chief bring his work computer home and connect it to his home wifi.#why would the FBI agent carry an ID with his government name on it when they KNOW kira needs a name and a face.#why would light assume that tipping off the police to the fact that he has police connections would work in his favor #like why would he assume that L wouldn’t just work with a different team of cops once he knows #…and why didn’t L just start working with a different team once he knew. there’s more than 5 cops in japan #like it’s so STUPID #L thoroughly cooked light and put him on a plate in his first 2 episodes and then they had to nerf his intelligence to keep the show going #because he’s the only smart one in the (alleged) cat and mouse game!!!!

Ninjago is such a long show but my favorite scene in the entire franchise still has to be the final confrontation between Lloyd and Harumi on the skytrain in s8. The dialogue, the emotions, the way the music started building up while he was promising his revenge,, the overture hitting right when he jumps off the train. it's so well done, genuinely.

#“you said the greatest villain is the one that got away. then what am i?”#<<< that dialogue has to be one of the most underrated in the show. lloyd garmadon going to fight back. he wants revenge.#he's thoroughly *broken* yes. but he wont let her rest easy while he's still alive.#i don't know if his arc in Hunted lived up to the set up that final scene established.#but it really felt like a great culmination of all his trauma in the series so far.#if i cant be the hero today i'll just have to be my enemy's worst villain #and tbh that line was cold 🥶

But WOW, what a fascinating and beautiful knot the production team has created for themselves…

#ooc #the long and short of it is essentially… I saw someone complaining about how RTD still writes The Doctor as if he’s white #and… controversially perhaps… I think that’s correct #because uh. as a black person myself… I’m quite confident in saying that Becoming Black and stepping into that as part of who you are #does NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT.#it takes some people their whole lives to step into that #and The Doctor has been white for EONS #a white MAN for most of that #I quite liked Dot and Bubble especially at the end watching him have to grapple with ‘oh. things are Different.’#it stung to watch. in a way a LOT of DW stings now that does make me feel… unsafe and uncared for as a viewer of color #but unlike when they did the Rosa Parks episode THIS felt deeply necessary #and honestly… I HOPE The Doctor was thinking back to how they acted during that episode. what they put their companions through.#how thoroughly and completely 13 failed to protect them in a way no previous doctor had.#and now… standing on the other side of it..#and maybe getting that little flicker of clarity. of… this is WHY we protect them. besides just being decent.#i think it’s gonna be healthy for the doctor to get some hard fucking lessons in this regeneration. to act like he always has and have it #just Hit Different. and then he has to carry that forward. THAT’S the real challenge.#I don’t want a doctor who Acts Black. that’s offensive.#I want a doctor who lives through something that mirrors my experience and pulls hope and joy out of that #someone who carries that awareness and uses it to make a difference the way The Doctor is supposed to #I don’t think that defeats the purpose.
