“Pete?”

Your voice so soft it's barely above a whisper. Peter immediately perks up and drops his pencil. Like he's been waiting to hear your voice. His eyes search yours as he smiles.

“Yeah?”

“What’s this?”

Scooting your stool closer you ignore the loud squeak it makes across the lab's tile. Peter meanwhile slides his study guide away to the edge of the desk to make room for your textbook, English.

The pages contrast the formulas and theories Peter has been studying for over the past hour.

Normally the two of you would use a timer to keep from overloading your brains. But with finals coming up and an important mission soon after, you had to cram as much information as you could. Ned would also have joined but declined under the excuse his Lola needed him.

He really was your wingman when it came to Peter. You did however, owe him a cartilage of web fluid to mess around with for missing today's study session.

You trace your finger along stanzas before finally reaching line fifty-two. Reciting it before referring back to the essay prompt for your last paper.

“I understand Shakespeare was using pathos but how exactly does that connect to this?”

Peter leaned over you and despite the close proximity he felt so far away. His chin almost resting on your shoulder as he scanned the text. Romeo and Juliet, a “classic”. What? You can't help it if MJ degrades the play every chance she gets.

“Well…” He licked his lips before pulling away. Flipping through the pages as he continued. “The story is about love being blind, right?”

You nod as you look at him quizzically but still with enough patience that you don't interrupt.

“Young love specifically.” Peter finally stops on the prologue. Sticky notes littered in the margins much like the rest of your textbook. Definitions and context mostly.

“Shakespeare sets up this narrative from the beginning.”

The rest of his words fall on deaf ears as you admire him. Peter hasn't noticed that when concentrated, he taps his foot incessantly. Biting his nails as he articulates his next thought. His lashes fluttering remind you of how jealous you are over them.

“So…” you clear your throat as you look back to the textbook. What little words you did catch clicking together like cogs. “By setting up how completely infatuated they are-”

“-their deaths become the payoff,” he completes. Smiling even brighter as he notices that look of understanding flashing in your eyes. One he's seen all too often when you work on Stark tech.

He thinks you're just as bad as his mentor when it comes to your inability to take breaks. The restlessness you get from not being able to solve a miscalculation that leads to midnight coffee runs to the seven-eleven around the corner. Not that he's complaining. If anything, he hopes you'll get the craving for something sweet so he can whisk you away. Have you all to himself without the prying eyes of the other avengers.

Peter's quite aware Tony is hovering through the surveillance cameras. He wouldn't even be surprised if the rest of the team was watching them like their own personal home movie. Frankly he's tired of getting teased, especially by Thor.

“Ok…Ok so-” You shift closer and Peter feels his heart lurch in his chest. It's like you affect him so much his own body can't take being near you.

Would you mind if he peppered kisses along your cheeks when it gets too cold? Hold your hands as he stares at you like you're the most precious thing in his life.

He sometimes wonders if you feel the same way but with how easy you seem to make these interactions he thinks not. Maybe you know enough that these teasing touches are a way to torture him.

“-the scene where they first meet. That's the main foundation for how the reader sees them as a couple.”

Peter nods as he tries not to lean in and kiss you. His eyes dancing between your lips and the pencil you keep chewing on.

“Being star crossed lovers heightens the effect and makes us root for them,” you mumble,“and again is why their deaths are so effective at evoking pathos.”

“Right,” he chuckles.

You lean back but not to far. Stretching your arms over your head as you look down at the mess of notes and candy wrappers you made on Tony's desk. If anything it's to hide how hot your cheeks feel.

“Cool, thanks Pete.” You sneak a glance at him with a quick smile before quickly doting down the major points of your conversation. Ignoring how your heart races once he finally looks away.

“Of course,” he hums. Mind lost on the homework he was doing previously. All these numbers mean squat when you're sitting next to him. His grades would absolutely suffer if he had to share more than one period with you.

Peter must have reread ‘what is the missing angle?’ a dozen times between looking over at you while you admire his reflection through the lab doors.

Somewhere Thor is handing over a wad of cash while Natasha grins over her newfound prize. She gives it until prom season when Peter will have no choice but to ask you out on a date while Tony says it'll be less than a week because that's when the mission is. Adrenaline does something to you y'know? And Bruce…well Bruce just smiles against his coffee mug as he sees your hand reach out for Peter's under the desk. He hopes you like the anniversary gift he helped Peter pick out.

With No Way Home leaving Tom Holland's Peter Parker basically shelved - alongside Sony Studios basically killing the live-action Spider-man industry with almost purposeful flops like Morbius and Madame Web -

In addition to the millions of dollars poured into the technical advancements of animation into Sony Animations specifically for Spider-Verse - like Hobie, Ham, and Noir - alongside the EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS of concept art for characters like Hobie;

AND the release of shorter animatics such as The Spider Within - I think it's becoming very very clear that The Spider-Verse is expected to be the next frontier in Spider-Man Cinematic Renditions.

This new short tells me that Sony Animation is willing to let The Spider-Verse team branch out and experienment not just with styles and characters, but with genres and storytelling as well.

Releasing the short in theatres is often what studios do to test audience engagement and interest, and although it was natural for them to release it publically now - what with BTSV being delayed - I still think it says something about what may or may not be doing down behind the scenes.

In my opinion - I expect to hear big news from Sony Animation not too long after the release of BTSV.

But that's just me.

And I have a very solid feeling about what I think the first installment might be - based on the trends of Sony and Marvel moviegoers in general.

There's a number of reasons why I think that is - but I'm not gonna tell you any. Because I'm lazy.

hello again! okay there are some headcannons i have that im gonna save to reveal in-story cuz i think its more fun that way & i dont wanna spoil some cute future moments, but here are a few super unoriginal ones that i’ll put out there just for funsies

peter parker headcannons:

- took ballet classes as a kid but stopped cuz he got bullied for it

- has a very pretty singing voice but only sings seriously when he’s alone & doesn’t think anyone is listening cuz he shy boy (i somewhat stole this from tom holland)

- at some point in the future tony gifts him noise canceling headphones cuz he knows his enhanced senses can make him get overstimulated easily and they are LIFE-CHANGING

- on a similar note, going anywhere super loud is not fun for him (concerts, fireworks, large gatherings, etc)

- extra fast metabolism makes him CONSTANTLY hungry and it’s very difficult for him to ever feel full or put on weight

- his spider sense pretty much does give him super anxiety cuz it’s constantly warning him of every little potential danger around him

- is a nerd™ who loves dnd & other uber complicated tabletop games

- needs his daily sweet treat to survive

- prompt him with a science concept and he can ramble for HOURS

- has a tendency to get so absorbed in his studies / work / tinkering etc that hours will pass without him realizing and he needs to be snapped out of it; he very often falls asleep wherever he’s sitting

- big fan of animated shows (gravity falls, she-ra, the owl house, arcane, etc)

johnny storm headcannons:

- if anything remotely sad happens in a movie, tv show, commercial, etc you best believe he’ll be the first to burst into tears

- learned to cook from a very young age so he could take some of the responsibilities off sue’s shoulders and also make her nice meals

- journals all his thoughts and draws little pictures and hearts around the edges of each page

- HATES doctor visits or dealing with anything medical after the car wreck with his mom + all the tests that were run on him while in quarantine after the space mission

- for the things he’s confident in about himself, he’s SUPER confident in; but for the things he’s insecure about, he’s EXTREMELY insecure

- likes painting people’s nails (he’s pretty good at it since sue let him practice on her growing up) and paints his own pretty often

- has nightmares about burning the people he cares about often

- very active listener if he likes the person who’s speaking

- falls asleep to very obscure & specific asmr videos

- extremely good at remembering people’s birthdays, anniversaries, favorite things, interests, etc

- has no idea how to interact with babies / little kids

- f4 does fantasy football every year & he picks his team exclusively based on the players’ hotness

So basically the first/main Spider-Man AU I worked on was Spider-Edward. (I don’t know why I picked him specifically it just seemed to fit)

He’s way younger in this AU compared to my normal humanization by about 20 years and the only reason why I made it that was was because I was going to try and show him being Spider-Man through the years Peter B. Parker style.

His universe is based off of Toby Macguire’s Spider-Man but he himself is based off Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

Of course you can’t have a Spider-Man without a Deadpool and that’s exactly the role I put James in because fuck you /j

Honestly I associated James with Deadpool as a half-joke because 2x5/Spider-Pool haha funny but the longer I left him as Deadpool the more I couldn’t unsee him in that role. I even gave him the two voices in his head from the comics!

It might be because they’re both pretty flamboyant characters (one’s just a bit more unhinged) but I honestly couldn’t really see James as any other character.

Also Rosie’s there as a Gwenpool stand in!

Gordon and Henry were both villains in this AU. Henry being Green Goblin and Gordon being Doc Ock. (Which shall I say was the best decision I’ve ever made cuz GOD DAYUM)

Their lore/origins collide with each other as follows: Gordon, being overworked, gradually loses his sanity which leads to the creation of the octo-arms (he makes them as an attempt to lighten work) only for them to backfire, creating Doc Ock.

Later, Henry dies (never really figured out how I just knew it would be the equivalent of the Flying Kipper crash), his death being the stand in for a sort of Uncle Ben tragedy, and Gordon attempts to revive him. Henry’s revival succeeds, of course, but leads to the creation of the Green Goblin.

I would also like to add that I have so many sketches of Doc Ock Gordon that I wanted to add but I couldn’t find them 😔

Meanwhile, in a separate universe, we have Spider-Thomas! This is the only drawing I have of the AU but him and his universe were based off of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man with Percy standing in as Ned/the guy in the chair (but I also planned on them becoming a Spider-Man in the AU later sorta similar to Miles Morales) and Rosie being the MJ stand in.

And that’s all the information I have! (I never knew how badly I needed to share this)

I love the idea of Loki, Peter Parker, and MJ all being trans. Specifically from the avengers/Tom Holland’s Spiderverse. Like MJ in that universe give non-binary vibes. She probably switches between he/they and she/they and Peter always calls them his girlfriend. Peter would be transmasc and Loki would be gender-fluid (obviously).

But in this particular au I feel like Peter and MJ would talk about Loki a lot bc MJ thinks they’re hot (“The hotness practically makes up for the murder, Peter.”) and Peter is just looking for other gender-non-conforming people within hero society and Loki just happens to be the only one he’s ever heard of. Peter and MJ are also mythology nerds which doesn’t help.

Stark also loves and hates this for his child. He is happy to see Peter excited about something and wants Peter to be happy and comfy as a trans person but does his role model for the trans community really have to be Loki? The dude literally tried to take over the earth and wrecked New York (“Yeah, but that was before I became Spider-Man and she’s chill now so no hard feelings.”)

Peter: Omg my girlfriend and I are big fans

Stark: You’re what-?

Peter: *proceeds to rant about trans visibly within hero society and asks if Loki will sign the nearest item that can be written on for him and MJ*

Loki: *pretends to understand what Peter is talking about because while he has never had a chance to talk to other trans people, she also never had to deal with the blatant transphobia that Peter is describing and now he’s a little concerned, and is also a little smug over the fact that Stark’s Spiderling child is a fan of them*

I KNOW CONNER ALREADY HAS ROBIN AND SHIT (both Nightwing Robin and Tim Drake Robin I think I'm only on season one of Young Justice) BUT I THINK HE AND PETER PARKER (TOM HOLLAND'S PETER PARKER SPECIFICALLY) WOULD BE GREAT TOGETHER. I also think Peter would like think Superman was the coolest thing ever at first, find out about how Superman initially reacted to Conner, and have some light beef with him. He's definitely not the type to put someone on a pedestal just because they're like insanely invincible bc at the end of the day even though Clark isn't human he was raised by them and therefore is human.

Peter meets Conner and is like oh hell yeah new friend.

And EVEN BETTER THOUGHT Peter and Tim are both huge nerds and immediately hit it off as well. I just want all of them to be friends okay. ACTUALLY ISN'T LIKE YOUNG JUSTICE'S UNIVERSE'S TECHNOLOGY KINDA WAY OUTDATED COMPARED TO PETER'S UNIVERSE'S??? I think he'd have an aneurysm but then work on making this world's technology better as much as he can.

Batman sees Peter (probably homeless after getting transported to a whole ass other multiverse) trying to steal the high-tech parts from his batmobile with the guiltiest and most apologetic expression ever (he's really not that sorry because he's assuming Batman's real identity is some insanely rich guy) and is like "This is oddly familiar. Anyway, new kid!"

Peter sees Bruce Wayne and the only though is "Holy shit this world has a playboy billionaire philanthropist too!"

Also Peter would immediately clock that this isn't his universe btw

Also Jason would see Peter and think Oh man who is this scrawny kid that is clearly not from Gotham he's so malnourished and scrawny oh man this kid is going to get killed I need to prevent that. As would the rest of the BatFamily

Came across a TikTok about how we should go back to shipping rare pairs and crack ships and it sent me back to all the weird pairings I used to ship back in middle school/early high school. For reference I read every possible fic on ao3 and Wattpad for:

1) Stiles Stilinski x Peter Parker (specifically Andrew Garfield)

2) Tony Stark x Dean Winchester

3) Harley Keener x Peter Parker (Tom Hollands)

4) Kevin Ryan x Javier Esposito

5) Bucky Barnes x Clint Barton

When will my friends match my freak (read my rambles about how spiderman is the most dynamic superhero when it comes to his relationship to his secret identity, to people he knows in civilian life as well as his villains and how his no kill rule is a paramount thing to his character. And how spiderman is a very interesting contrast to batman. Of how they are so similar but also so different. And how I wonder why specifically people critique batmans no kill rule other than the whole joker red hood conflict.)

Basically I think that it's because

A. Batman is rich, but no matter how much he gives to the community of Gotham the city can never be better because if it does then the story is over. Because Peter Parker isn't rich and is often broke ass poor, he is not responsible for the fuckery that happens in this fictionalized New York.

B. Batmans villains don't seem like they can be redeemed besides poison ivy and harley quinn (or the suicide squad I guess but like they're their own thing, detached from batman to a degree) whereas with Peter Parkers villains, they have origin stories that mostly are just misunderstandings or based on a traumatic event that they aren't coping well with. (My knowledge of Peter Parker villains is limited to Spectacular spiderman, spiderverse and the live actions excluding the last two with tom Holland because I Hate the mcu) I think the main villains that can't be redeemed with Peter are. Norman Osborn just cause he's often so far off in the deep end. But like Doc Ock is primed for it, sandman is understandable, and nowadays venom is pretty much a good guy. Whereas with batman it's just. Off into the Asylum until they break out and kill more.

3. Spiderman has a concrete impact on his world. Now I don't want to discredit batman, because as all superheroes ought to do he does inspire people both in the fiction of his world as well as in real life. But I mean. With spiderman. Were you there when the spiderverse happened? The movement of "anyone can be behind the mask? It was fucking great.

There's probably other reasons, like the tone of their stories, batman stories are often more serious ever since the dark knight. Whereas no matter how dark things get with spiderman he will be cracking jokes (well sometimes he doesn't but yknow what I mean)

Hiii!! This is the longest shot of long shots but I'm Peter Parker!! Aka Spider-Man. Even more specifically, I'm Tom Holland's Spider-Man. And I'm from the DC Spider-Man AU where Peter Parker gets trapped in the DC universe. Some things I remember about myself is that I exhibited spidery behavior and liked to rest high up.
