You ever just see a Mouthwashing take that makes you want to bang your head into a wall? I literally just saw someone claim Curly couldn't have been emotionally abused by Jimmy before the crash because he was in a higher position of power than Jimmy.
-Shrimp Anon
The mouthwashing fandom has shown me that people genuinely do believe that certain types of abuse are not as detrimental as other types especially when they deem those immune/resistant, ergo, believing one is objectively worse no matter how it affects the person nor the intersections of power, history and dynamics at play.
Get ready cause this is a yap session:
Cause like it's heavily implied that Curly and Jimmy's friendship was toxic and abusive, pointedly in the direction of how Jimmy uses Curly's belief/comfort in him. Curly wasn't forced to enable Jimmy but he was emotional and mentally on edge around him in almost every scene in some way. Mental and emotional abuse are not contingent on what positions you have at work. Yeah, he's Jimmy's boss but he was Jimmy's friend first and it's like getting into Psych discussion to talk about how social power tends to overshadow any perceived organizational power in the human mind. People are concerned about their jobs ofc but they tend to hang onto and put more value/investment into their personal relationships, hence why there tends to be laws and restrictions around mixing the two.
I always see the sentiments that "Curly is a grown ass man", "Curly is bigger than Jimmy", "Curly is Jimmy's boss", "He just needed a backbone" as criticisms of Curly and while I do agree that on the surface level all of these to be true and viable ways Curly could've taken more control of the situation, I often look at the parallels of Anya and Curly as victims of Jimmy pre/post crash.
The way Jimmy talks to Anya post crash is how he talked to Curly in the pre-crash segments. It's hard to pin-point mainly because we know he hates and wants nothing to do with Anya compared to his contrary but similarly handled obsessions with Curly. It's a weird sort of "honey-moon" effect of abuse Jimmy does in terms of emotional and mental victimization. He is always horrid to Anya, always talking down or questioning her abilities and thoughts in a situation, this of course includes the harassment and assault. However, he has a moment of attempted gentleness/conditioning when he question her about the mouthwash when she's contemplating drinking it at the table. The key difference is he has no personal investment in Jimmy outside wanting nothing to do with him, meaning there is no sort of romanticized version of him that he can condition her off of. He knows this, hence, why he always reverts to trying to make her to scared to oppose him.
This sort of give and take of "kindness" doesn't work on her because she knows he is just doing it to take more from her than whatever he could possibly give but it reflects even the "softer" scenes between him and Curly where he always rewords or rephrases Curly's sentiments and concerns to sound more shallow. He is feigning a deeper understanding by reworking Curly's emotions into something bad and needing to be hidden. Everything is laced with envy and resentment, an outburst just around the corner, I mean he even slams the table in the birthday party scene, a tactic in emotional manipulation to set the victim on edge and cloud their ability to respond. Even if Curly knows Jimmy won't get physical in that moment, the physical actions is intended to make him back down in the confrontation in case it does. This is something that is just not person specific. It ingrains itself into how you interact with the world and life and it shows in major and minor ways with Curly.
Post-crash, the abusive nature is more in tandem to the physical victimization Anya went through and the stripping of voice and autonomy we see take place. Like the parasite in HFIM, Jimmy speaks for Curly most of the time and puts words in his mouth, similarly to how he takes Anya's plans as his own. He very commonly, with the both of them mind you, supplements the worst aspects of himself into them; pettiness, selfishness, lack of understanding... And tries to cover himself with their best qualities; kindness, planning, initiative, etc...
These parallel are just to say that positional power has little to do with if a person can be abused and how it can even be flipped to further the abuse. There is no doubt that Curly could've picked up on Jimmy's envy of his position hence another reason he never confronted him as a Captain but as a friend as doing so would immediately put Jimmy in a space to be confrontational/combative.
I think the disdain some people have when they talk about the heavily implied if not implicitly stated emotional/mental abuse Curly experienced being Jimmy's friend is when treating it as an excuse to why he didn't do more. I can understand that completely because it is not an excuse to why he didn't do more but is a very real reason people in his position in these scenarios can experience whether in the context of a work or social environment. However, I also think the way people talk about it really does demonstrate a bigger problem when talking about abuse when somehow who is/was abused is either part of the issue or enabled it.
Harkening back to the sentiments about Curly's inaction regarding Jimmy, I think the exact phrases I used/have seen show how there is an inherent belief that it is easier to overpower the effects of emotional/mental abuse that go in tandem with the perception of Curly as someone who should be able to. There is not an age you suddenly stop being susceptible to abuse nor a set point or low where you realize how it has affected you. You don't suddenly know to stand up or put a face on to face your abuser nor admit that you inadvertently enabled them to subjugate someone else to the same treatment. Maybe it's my psych brain but their is this growing belief that direct action is somehow easy or always the best method with the game shows you instances where it is not always the case. In real life that rings true too. He should have done more, but it's not impossible to see why he struggled to find a way or didn't even if it makes us mad.
It's not easy to suddenly gain a "back-bone". You don't immediately want to resort to aggression, especially if it mirrors the type you were a victim to. You don't want to believe you allowed yourself to be treated this bad, let it get that bad or allowed something bad to happen to someone else. It is easy to be in denial, to retreat to your thoughts or make excuses to avoid the painful truth. It's frustrating but in a way we know is relatable. It why we both hate and love Curly for it. We know we'd be better, we think we'd be better, we like to think we wouldn't falter in the same ways but it's always easier to say that from the outside looking in. It's easy to see what he was doing wrong because we are seeing it, not him, but the game really does make you picture what you would do if this was your raw reality and it's why this debate about Curly seems so never ending/contradictory. We can all say what we'd do but bottom line is that's much different when you're in the moment with all the emotions and human feelings attached.
I personally think Mouthwashing tackles the themes of rape culture, enabling, toxic masculinity, types of abuse and patriarchy in ways that are meant to deconstruct the typical straightforward views we mostly have of these concepts and how little subtilities of them are just as, if not more, detrimental than the overt/obvious parts. The game deals with the idea of little details and bigger picture in a way to show that sometimes the bigger picture is not the issue but the little details that make it up. It's why I have a personal dislike of depictions of Jimmy as the typical horrible person who would of course do something like this because the game is about noticing the little warning signs, the foreshadowing and foresight.
It's why I dislike the typical discussion of "bro code" and "boys will be boys" for the game because the game makes a point to avoid the standard depictions of such. It is about the type of men who still enable despite not condoning, agreeing or even perpetuating harmful beliefs because they can't see the little details or the ways it seeps into their everyday. The severity is not obvious to them as it was not obvious to Curly, Swansea or even Daisuke the way it was to a woman like Anya. There are little details about Jimmy that should ring alarms but if you are too naive like Daisuke, too distant like Swansea or too conditioned like Curly, they are just off markers.
There is 100% more constructive/concise ways to say "Curly was a victim of Jimmy's abuse on an emotional and mental aspect that clouded his judgements and perceptions in the scenario" while also critiquing on the side of "Curly still had a responsibility to protect Anya as a crew mate and Captain that he failed to do due to biases and stigma's he failed to surpass" without the weird condemnation people give him about should've knowing better than to let himself be manipulated by a person he considered a close, if not family/best-friend and had his own reasons to trust initially. Also stop being weird about victims of abuse in general with this fandom, like sorry not everyone has a like social epiphany the moment someone's nasty to them. People are treating it like you immediately know when you are in a toxic relationship immediately or comprehend when a person is actively dangerous and either it's your fault for not knowing how to leave/cut them off or you deserve it. Like the hypocrisy of people believing how certain fans treat the story reflect their irl views but not their own is crazy.
End statement is: I honestly don't even know man, I've been writing this too long and just like no man on that ship was perfect or really helped Anya when it mattered and I feel like pitting them against each other in discussion on who did the least or most or how it was justified sucks cause in the end Anya always did the most and best thing for herself.
#i also think it is because mouthwashing is first and foremost a game about rape culture and the patriarchy especially in work spaces#regarding women and centering conversation around Curly a man rubs people wrong because it does overshadow that commentary#but it still mixes other topics into its initial theming and message on how abuse conditions you to accept certain things that are harmful#and how getting used to a culture/enviornment does not mean you are happy healthy or most importantly safe in it. I personally like to#explore those aspects where it mixes all the themes so we can discuss the ways you have to watch out for things because there is a differen#in the idea Curly enabled Jimmy just because they were bros and because he was an example of another man afraid to step out from what#is a still oppressive system that does try to punish those who act against it even if they fall in the category of those who would benefit#from it as Jimmy and PE 100% represent that sort of misogynistic system where men that would be âgoodâ are altered until they follow line#in a way both on the personal and professional level as PE is the corporate lock out and Jimmy represents the social and its just the issue#that the discussion of it sounds like âin defense of menâ when I am more so trying to discuss how it is much deeper than men being scared t#upset other men but complacency is rewarded by not becoming another person subjugated hence as all the moments Curly does try to do#something we can tie it back to how Jimmy reacts and a possible penality from PE where we now need to address the ways to combat those#two concepts so we dont get cases like Curly or Daisuke or Swansea where male avoidance of the issue is considered neutral or even good.#i think most of this boils down the perfect victim mentality to where if someone who underwent or is being abused is not a perfect example#or accpetible type than their abuse can not be considered a valid or substantial reason for effects on their behavior compounded with the#fact that Anya's abuse at the hands of Jimmy is a systematic issue that Curly is a part of even if unwillingly and was more physically#violating and topical cause sometimes i have to remind myself that all media is still critiqued through the lens of the culture it came out#in cause i do think about what if this game came out inlike 2014 like the conversations would be sooooooo different could you imagine it?#but back the before statement Curly isn't perfect but I feel like boiling it down if hes a good person or man is not the point of the game#but more so good people can still be part of the problem and the idea of condemning a person for one act creates a false sense of#rightouesness and justice that does not aid the victim and in fact aids the abusers in escaping blame for their mulitple behaviors as we se#how the men on the ship tend to blame Jimmy for just one act against them including himself while there is a plethora of things Anya is#concerned about with Jimmy#and its not that Curly just made one mistake with Jimmy but more so we consider his actions more damning because he didn't stop Jimmy#instead of focusing on the fact Jimmy did what he did regardless of Curly and the consequence because we already know he's bad n maladjuste#which is problem in the conversation where the individuals are blamed but the system and perputrator are overlooked in a sense of acceptiab#complacency as we know how they are and the lack of tangibility to personally affect them on a larger scale like I should just make a post#on like cutting out the face when it comes it confronting systems of oppression rather than tag talking but just ask me to clarify if#you want that like im jus trying to say we avoid talking about Jimmy and PE so much cause it is obvious what they do wrong that we make#the initial and inherent problem out to be one aspect someone in this case Curly does and the the constraints they use to force actions

The Judoflip in HOO
Do you know what always bewildered me? The judoflip scene in HOO. Not only did Annabeth unexpectedly slam Percy (her boyfriend, not an enemy) on the hard ground with her knees pressed to his chest and her arm to his throat as she threated him to never leave her, but also Percy was slammed to the ground ON HIS BACK WHERE HIS MORTAL SPOT ONCE WAS!!! Annabeth didn't know that he didn't have the curse anymore. That could have easily killed him! One misplaced rock could have hit the small of his back, and he would be DEAD!
Not only was this an abusive and concerning reaction to slam Percy on the ground, but it really shows how much Percy's fatal flaw being loyalty can not see how this is WRONG because he laughed! You don't hit your partner if they're being stupid; you don't elbow them in the ribs if they can't guess what you're thinking; you don't kick them in the shins to shut up. AND YOU DON'T JUDOFLIP YOUR PARTNER FOR BEING KIDNAPPED!!!
This isn't a romantic or healthy relationship. It's toxic and unhealthy codependent where Percy will give and give, and Annabeth will take and take until Percy has nothing left.
#anti annabeth#anti percabeth#anti annabeth chase#percy jackson rant#pjo annabeth#pjo percy#percy jackson#fatal flaws#percy jackson deserves better#percy jackson defense squad#heroes of olympus#pjo hoo#hoo#i hate annabeth#annabeth chase#annabeth need consequences to her actions#you don't hurt your partner#she could have killed him!#pjo#annabeth chase bashing#percy jackson and the olympians#annabeth's fatal flaw is pride#that means she never apologizes#that means she can never be wrong#that means that she thinks she's better than everyone#and percy's fatal flaw is personal loyalty#and his loyalty is to annabeth#he will never call her out on her behaviors#not only was he trained not to as a kid by gabe#by he doesn't know that it's an unhelathy relationship

Okay, I'm not being nice about this one: are you guys seriously putting "callouts" in my inbox for misunderstanding/misusing terminology now? Is that what we're doing? What makes you think this is a productive or appropriate way of handling this?
Sit the fuck down and think about your actions for a minute, genuinely. What do you think is going to come of this? What happens when you make a "callout" for someone? They get ostracized at best and harassed and sent death threats and suicide bait at worst. How the actual fuck does that help with a problem of them possibly knowingly misrepresenting but probably literally just misunderstanding a word??? What is your goal here???? You know what actually helps with this problem? Spreading correct information via unrelated posts, or maybe, I don't know, talking to the person, politely, and explaining where they seem to have misunderstood something. And if they're truly insistent on being willfully ignorant, then just, leave them alone. Misusing a word is not a crime worthy of being hurt, harassed, or socially ostracized over. Callouts are almost never worth the damage they do to the person being called out, and it is only when someone is an active danger to other people on a community level.
Go take a fucking walk. Make a post about the correct definitions of words that isn't @/ing and preferably isn't even vaguing someone. Eat a fruit and maybe you'll feel better. Good gods. Sorry I'm being mean about this one, but I don't play around with callouts and other things that get people harassed to the point of suicide.
#never mind the fact that a quick search through their blog reveals no such confusions being made anyway#and the way they use the otherlink tag indicates to me that this maybe isn't even a real accusation#i usually try VERY hard not to bite people like this but you need to sit down and think about what you are doing here and why#because either you have not thought through the consequences of callouts very thoroughly; you are VASTLY overestimating -#- the harm done by the behavior in the accusation; or you are actively being malicious#asked and answered#rani talks

I was reading back through caged lungs and I realized just how many times Donnie got hit in the head during the last fight and how hard, no wonder Leo is concerned about brain damage.
Also, when Donnie goes to see April at the end of chapter 2, is he just dissociating really hard or is that an actual physical symptom from theâŚeverything really!
not to mention the oxygen deprivation with raph throttling him! the last fight is so visceral and nasty and it was the final nail in the coffin when it came to donnie's issues physically and mentally, because although he would have been terrified of them regardless i dont think it wouldve been "inconsolable screaming heap at the sound of raph's voice" like it was in the early bit of CW.
and id mark that as dissociation personally. the second he registered as being in relative safety he kind of shut down because he wasn't able to process it, which had kind of been a running coping mechanism through the last month or so of CL. MIND YOU: IT IS NOT HELPED ALONG BY THE BRAIN FOG CAUSED BY HIS TIME IN ISOLATION, its a nasty concoction of problems. and also yeah physical exhaustion definitely doesnt help! he ran all the way to april's apartment while actively starving, after all.
although itll get better after [REDACTED PLOT THREAD] is handled, i think dissociation is gonna be something donnie will be dealing with for years, because spending four days in a quiet, enclosed dark space has some extremely messed up consequences for your brain and body. it was also in general something he used to cope under the abuse, so i could see him having issues with it when he's not in his right mind (sick or sleep-deprived, for example), i could see him regressing back to that old mindset when something like that happens. his perception of reality is permanently a little fucked :(
#ask#canary continuity#theres a lot of factors you have to put together for donnie's behavior right now#he's been so stressed that he's been running a low grade fever#the consequences of being in solitary are still taking a toll on him#his brain automatically shuts down as a coping mechanism when triggered#and he's absolutely dealing with both ptsd (notably about the closet the final fight and mikey attacking him in the kitchen)#AND cptsd. he definitely has cptsd. this is for absolute certain cptsd#+ he's still on some strong painkillers which are distorting his perception of reality#the source of the nosebleeds could very well be stress to be optimistic. but. well =) who's to say#everythings horrible but donnie is STILL too overwhelmed to process#its going to hit him very soon and its not gonna be pretty!#also despite his developed claustrophobia ive been haunted by the mental image of him waking up sick and immediately trying to hide-#-under his bed like a YEAR after all of this and Ouurgghhh#one of them comes looking for him when he doesnt leave his room and he just claps his hands over his mouth when he hears their footsteps#and his mind is just an endless mantra of âhes going to find me hes going to find me hes going to find meâ#he doesnt know what he's so scared of. he just knows that something bad is going to happen and he needs to stay quiet#(remember when leo dragged him out of the laundry room? that left scars)#just thought i should share that cause it wouldnt leave my brain <3

havent seen this take in a while thankfully but it popped up in my head and i wanna post this anyways. i think everyone who talks about how siffrin âgot off too easyâ at the end of isat and his friends should have abandoned him should go read warrior cats if they want an example of a character using their trauma as their god-given jailbreak card to treat their family and peers (a good amount of whom who were completely innocent) like dogshit, and who faces zero consequences from the narrative for it (and in fact bends over to blame their peers). like read all the shit jayfeather does while the narrative sobs over how tragic but awesome and quirky he is and then look me in the eye and tell me siffrinâs ending was poorly written.
#or look at titania from reborn. what who said that#at least siffrinâs trauma is actually developed and taken deadly seriously by the narrative and clearly isnt being used to excuse his behav#behavior#siffrin does some shitty things in the story but theyre very obviously in a horrible state mentally and physically thats been breaking them#down little by little by little until theyve exploded and broken down. and his family still holds him accountable for what he did#but they stay with him anyways because they love and respect and care about him and are horrified to learn his situation#meanwhile ivypool goes through trauma yeah but shes not really written like a realistic trauma victim#and when she hurts her sister over and over and over and over and over again its always her sister who has to make it up at the end#and we all gotta sob and coo over ivy because shes the fan favoriteand if you criticize her then you hate trauma victims#(ignoring dovewingâs trauma from the situation as well i might add)#while ivy never gets to grow or acknowledge how her attitude is hurtful to herself and others#its just ââwell dovewing had it better so she better shut the fuck up and deal with the constant emotional abuse ivy throws at herââ#imagine if isat ended with siffrin going ââactually im not sorry bc you all havent suffered as much as meââ#and the party didnt object to that at all and they were like ââyes we do have it better so youre justified in hurting us#and also you are the most tragic character ever so you cant face emotional consequences everââ#(and before anyone goes ââwell dovewing left the clan and ivypool feels bad about thatââ the story doesnt position it as a consequence of#her behavior to her sister. canonically shes leaving to be with her baby daddy and SHES framed as the one hurting her sister#and shes the one whos gotta mend that rift. while the narrative doesnt acknowledge that that situation was partly her sisters fault at all#)#ok sorry for wc on main jumpscare. i wouldve posted over on the blog but i dont think people over there have played isat#echoed voice#isat spoilers

Now I'm sitting and looking at the Willow Tail trend stirring up around here that I've apparently triggered by being a troublesome snitch
Feels like throwing a tiny fish in a dusky scary pool to watch a magnificent legendary monster emerging to swallow it
I am satisfied, Willow Tail deserves better than she got
It always seemed odd how they just made her up to be the bad guy seemingly out of nowhere
no worries, you'll never find that take, it was a local not-English-speaking social media
It's me, the DOTC mosasaur, lunging up out of my tank to devour all the bad takes that come from weirdo Clear Sky stans lmao
I LIKE the bunny bones plot. I think it was cool to let Willow Tail be doing something kind of sneaky, holding a grudge from the last book. I enjoy the way she still have love and concern for Moth Flight, while also having beef with Red Claw. Dynamics like this are interesting and what I want more of in these books.
But the writers treat it like a woman lying is the most evil sin they've ever heard of. So they let Clear Sky carve her face like a pumpkin, killing her slowly in a stomach turning way, all while their precious writer's pets keep all of their power and never have to confront the fact that THEY ESCALATED IT. AT EVERY TURN.
The woman who lied pays for it with a slow, agonizing death, while men who murder and abuse don't even have to squeak out a "sorry."
I'm deadass, Clear Sky is forced to make peace and he says, "It was a dumb fight." Like, oh ok? A dumb fight? Did it fall out of the sky, asshole? Or did you make a hostage out of a leader's daughter and only doctor because you blamed HER for killing that son you let die?
Awful. Justice for Willow Tail. The punishment for lying should not be DEATH BY EYE GOUGING.
#bone babble#In the back of my mind the Tom statement throbs ominously#The tantrum that one writer threw over the idea of a wifebeater not going to heaven#While Willow Tail (whose only sin was lying. No violence.) Is tormented slowly on screen while her killer stands vindicated#Others have said it but ill say it again#They dont give a shit about the concept of rehabilitation#They just want to dress up abuse apologia under the guise of restorative justice.#EVERY chance they get to punish a woman for doing something wrong. They do it gruesomely and violently#Where men get to mutter 'it was a dumb fight' and 'WE should never have let it get this bad' and see no consequences.#They don't even get a reputation hit. No one even dislikes them a little more.#Wind actually gets punished for NOT trusting Clear.#Actually sick behavior

Nooo cam u dont want to analyze the psychology behind mikes actions in the bite of 83 even though scott didnt put anywhere near your amount of thought into it noo dont do that. freak
#(guy who loves psychoanalyzing people voice) Yeah idk i just think that theres a difference in severity of mikes bullying of cc#compared to when his friends were around and considering mikes age and the impulse in teenagers to impress others you want to like you#(ie your friends) its likely he decided to do the thing he knew would upset cc the most bc he was focused on making sure his brother is the#most afraid possible so he and his friends can get a laugh and enjoy themselves and Fuck Thinking About Consequences We're Like 15 Bro#compared to when youre alone and have no one to impress / to egg you on / indulge your negative behaviors so he may not go as far as#actively putting him in a dangerous situation because without anyone around you to influence you youre more likely to think before you act#(to some extent) which is why prior to shoving his head in fbs mouth he only ever just jumpscared him and locked him in a room which wasnt#actively dangerous iirc. i dont think i have any more to say Does that make sense#if this is incoherent just know its getting late dont question me i may or may not be eepy depending on if this makes sense or not#anyway !! this is also NOT to say that michael wasnt to blame OR that he was peer pressured into doing it#im just saying that i dont think it would have happened if he was alone. for these reasons. thank you gn this has been my tedtalk.#and if you read all the way to the end then id like to say: what are you doing with your life /lh#am i putting too much thought into it? Yeah this is fnaf. of course. i doubt it was thought out much. but thats what i doooooo#they call me the thinker guy the way i. think. ok thats enough talking for today cameron#cam.txt#oh and if this is like. obvious. i guess. then shhhh i said nothinggg. perdĂłname. no oĂsteis nada

Okay this is the *actual* last comment, for real, but I just found out Spider is now smearing me as a convert and accusing me of being involved with drama I was not involved with because he mistakenly attributed my apologies for his public temper tantrum as being about something unrelated.
THIS IS A FALSE ACCUSATION and I do not appreciate having yet another bit of fake malicious intent falsely ascribed to my actions and* attributing a completely unrelated attack to me.
Also, it's very sad and disappointing whenever a Jew gets mad at a convert because something else is going on in the Jew's life and the convert happens to be in the splash zone and the Jew falls over backwards to smear the convert and invalidate her faith.
Just....the childish aggression is making me so, so sad and disappointed, from someone I used to think very highly of, who is now lying about me and publicly smearing me with false accusations based on a conflict he started because he misinterpreted something I said and I went out of my way to give him the benefit of the doubt when trying to clear up the mistake HE MADE that led him to decide bullying and attacking me for three fucking days was appropriate and okay and that I'm the bad guy for saying it's wildly unprofessional to behave like this in public to a former customer face.
Sorry, but facts, reality, linear time and the truth of what I actually said and did are on my side here, and I will not stand for being smeared and attacked and shat all over because I had the gall to try to kindly resolve his uncalled for, unjustified temper tantrum.
I am also not sorry that I left a side note in the tags that it was also unacceptable for HIM to drag his daughter into a stupid internet slapfight based on his own reading comprehension failure. Because it was and is unacceptable, and she needs to hear that message from someone.
End of story. Keep digging that hole as long as you like, Spider. It's not helping your case and is continuing to make you look progressively worse and more unreasonable, and the only person you have to blame is yourself.

#don't buy from nerdykeppie#all receipts are under this tag#if you're so offended because my reporting on the things you say and do makes you look bad maybe the problem is you#this whole thing was completely needless#and yet he is continuing to DARVO me because he's pissed that his usual method of smugly lashing out at people over their poor reading#comprehension doesn't work when it's him who failed to comprehend what I wrote in the first place#also REAL FUCKING INCHRESTING that he's lying about me being involved in the jewvestigation of him so he responds by......jewvestigating me#lol#lashon hara. maybe he should study it sometime.#and maybe he'll learn warning others about poor behavior from a business so they don't waste their money there is not lashon hara#but honestly I doubt it because he's never going to let go of his desperate complex about always being the smartest raddest dude in the roo#it looks pathetic and I think he realizes that or he wouldn't have had such a dramatic extended meltdown over the things *he* said to *me*#I also still find it funny that he has conveniently forgotten to address the whole âhey bud your timeline doesn't add upâ part#and I think that's because he knows if he were to address the proof that he didn't remember it correctly he would be forced to admit that h#threw a massive shitfit at someone for no reason because his memory got mixed up#so so funny that he can't come up with an answer for that#almost like! he knows he fucked up bigtime and is scrambling to make himself the victim!#also funny that âworrying about someone who was dragged into a fight by a bullyâ got twisted into sneakily scheming to turn her against him#I'm not a scheming plotter I'm worried because the behavior you showed your child in public was wildly inappropriate TO HER.#it's sad! It's fucking sad and embarrassing and hypocritical and immature and SAD!#but the pretend me other people are attacking because they made shit up is none of my business#if he wants to keep writing fanfic about me he can go right ahead#because again#the more he talks the worse he looks#the more he digs this hole the deeper he gets mired in his own muck#and it's not my job to bend over backwards to keep him from experiencing the natural consequences of his actions.#I really should learn the lesson that people who are snide assholes in one situation are usually snide assholes across the board#really the worst part is knowing I defended him when he threw tantrums like this before#that's what I regret and feel guilty about: that I backed up his shitty behavior and gave it legitimacuy#that was wrong of me and I'm sorry for every time I jumped in as one of his flying monkeys

What I did wonder in regards to Curly and his relationship with Jimmy and the reasons they're friends and he's so set on helping Jimmy is if Curly doesn't have a troubled background of his own. Either because he was like Jimmy and cleaned up his act or maybe his family was a mess (like how people with abusive parents are more likely to end up with abusive partners). His comment on how people aren't slaves to their past felt like he was also talking from personal experiences and that's why he couldn't bring himself to give up on Jimmy. It's speculation but would make more sense to me than some other theories idk
My personal headcanon was that Curly had older parents who died when was relatively young (natural causes considering the world they likely live in) and he was kinda hung up on it and aimless in life. Jimmy latched onto that vulnerability and sorta fed off of/molded Curly into the person he likes throughout the years. It was really based on Curly needing a sedimentary figure in his life and Jimmy needed a something to feed off of, it wasn't always like this but it quickly became that dynamic. The major issue is Curly doesn't realize that he's not holding on to Jimmy but Jimmy is clinging to him.
I think they met young but not incredibly young. Teen years to young adulthood. A song that I think would encapsulate their relationship and how they worked is Ryan and Dave. I think Curly did get into regular teenage trouble; smoking, trespassing, mild vandalism, etc... But he stopped, grew out of it in a normal time frame while Jimmy just escalated. It's one of those cases where Jimmy never admitted how bad some of the trouble he was recover from was or how frequent. Curly helped because he just thought it was minor hiccups in Jimmy's road to progress, not everyone's journey is linear.
I think the idea that Curly had to be as bad as Jimmy or of a similar mindset at one time gets rid of the aspect that some people are just friends with people like Jimmy. Good men are friends with men like Jimmy. It's not always because they were just a like but because they can't perceive their worst actions for what they are, most men like Jimmy aren't just forthcoming with bad shit they did. They warp it to sound like the victim which we know Jimmy does a lot with Curly. It's not an excuse to why he didn't look deeper or think harder about it, but individuals like that sow giving them the benefit of the doubt into the very foundation of their relationships.
It's toxic and parasitic and the host should realize better, but that little bug will do anything to make sure they don't. Even to their own detriment.
#i do believe that after the point of curly like growing up Jimmy would do some sort of love bombing wheres hes nice buddy buddy on#his best behavior but is doing bad shit behind the scenes and then cracking and being awful to Curly when he has to face the consequences#and Curly protects him cause he's too emotionally malajusted to realize he doesn't need Jimmy as much as he thinks he does also I think#its so interesting that when they speciifed Curly's firends made him a cake it included Jimmy because it could just be to point out#hey jimmy isnt a selfish asshole to Curly all the time there are reasons they are friends but it also sounds a bit more like Jimmy#doesnt usually do things like this for Curly so its uniquely fond of the gesture cause he put whatever feelings he could have aside away to#do something nice for him even if lead by other people like i need more facts about their pasts cause why were any of them on a ship#together too many conflicting mental illnesses#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#curly mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing

I can't take it anymore
#as I was walking my dog these boys started 'following us and throwing water balloons at me#and I'm being generous with 'boys'. they were old enough to understand that what they were doing was wrong (at least 15-16 years old)#why is such behavior deemed ok? why do some people think it's ok to harras someone?#is it something I did? is it me? do I look like a target?#this isn't the first time something like that happens to me#one time some guys (at least 20 years old) started throwing little rocks and berries at me while i was walking to go home#is it funny? to make people uncomfortable? to harras them? humiliate them? what did I do? what did my dog do?#I just. I can't. I don't want to go out again#i hate it here#i hate it so much#I wish people would stop being so mean-spirited for no reason#your actions have consequences#but what actions did I do? what do I do wrong?#I don't think I was ever bullied but there are some instances that look surprising much like bullying was happening and I was the victim#I can't even enjoy my adult life#sorry for rambling#text#not art#me complaining#and I'm sitting here alone crying over it now :( at least gizmo is with me

Yesterday. it is working. she won't listen to anyone when they tell her that this is the case. help me jesus. im sure if a nurse comes to check on her tomorrow they'll probably get the same response. my brain will simply explode
#crow.txt#the absolute levels of stress im under could create diamonds out of free floating carbon atoms my fucking god#can i have. Literally just one day of peace. just one!! fuck!!!!#at least now i have SOME validation from everyone else of shit that mom has honestly kinda always done#be absolutely furious and bitchy usually for no good goddamn reason and then immediately turn it off to look good in front of someone else#i had a feeling mom coming home was gonna be utterly miserable sooner rather than later#i literally cannot leave my room without her yelling for dad bc she thinks im him i guess. she has gotten him up like 4 times now#what the fuck do you want any of us to doooooooooooo. according to dad shes also just been really fucking hateful today#including to her SISTER who has been facilitating literally everything medically for her for the last month plus#like on one hand i know its hard and frustrating etc etc absolutely. on the other. what the fuck are you yelling at any of us for!#whatd we do! not a damn thing for the most part! holy shit im exhausted#and then im sure she will have the audacity to wonder why i dont really want to interact with her much rn#its very apparent she doesnt really understand whats going on or how much of anything works at this point including hospice care#but i truly cannot help you when your knee jerk response is to yell and be abusive. like. dads not been great either#bc hes also one to bitch and moan and yell abt shit. but like. so is mom. more than usual#and ill actually be damned if i let her treat me like that honestly ever again. like idk for once i can just#walk away from this behavior with zero consequences. i dont have to take it anymore. im not free but at least im fuckin closer than i was#guess my aunt wasnt kidding when she said her being coherent and rational last week might be the calm before the storm

every time i talk about one of jean's less positive attributes, especially in regards to her relationship w scott, i feel a need to clarify that i say it with love bc i know there are people on here who hate her and specifically think she is awful to scott. but honestly jean's worst trait is the way she bends over backward to excuse or defend him. she's the original scott summers apologist and ykw i wish she wasn't.
#i say that but i do like it SOMETIMES#other times it feels like a way to like. wash away scotts behavior by having jean do it for him#so he gets the appearance of taking responsibility (key character trait) without actually having to face any real consequences#mixed feelings on how this is utilized by different comics ig#w.me#i may have made this post before. it feels familiar now that i've typed it out

Itâs funny how many people loved it when Alicent Hightower was made a âvictimâ in the show, because it validated all their hatred for the Targaryens - specifically Rhaenyra/âimmodestâ women - but immediately turned on hotd when they realized just what type of victim she was.
#sheâs such a catholic white woman itâs hilarious#âIâm a victimâ so I can harm anyone I want and get away with it#and everyone supports her#except when she tries to ârun awayâ from where she was a victim#thatâs not acceptable behavior#Alicentâs characterization was absolutely destroyed but donât go pretending like you always hated it from the start#and to act like she had the biggest character assassination when all of team black is right there is crazy#anti team green#alicent wasnât only made a victim by others she made herself the victim on purpose#so wanting to escape from Westeros so she doesnât have to face the consequences of her actions completely lines up with her characterizatio

"oughhh you can't like carmine, she's abusive, she says 'its not like i hit him' in one scene so she's toxic and bad and you shouldn't portray her in a sympathetic light!!!" speaking as someone who genuinely has a toxic relationship with his older brother... shut up lmao
#part of her arc is literally about how she's wrong about how she treats outsiders and kieran and grows past it#like yeah her behavior is a major contributor to his mental breakdown but thats... the point. that shes in the wrong#and tries to make amends for it#like man idk thats better than what my own brother's done for me skldfjslkdf#also tbh thats another case where im like ''what does the original japanese text say'' bc thats a very pointed phrase#its also only one phrase in a game where she's otherwise concerned for him and is bad at showing it#i would also say that line could be interpreted in different ways... like why are kieran and carmine in custody of their grandparents?#not their bio parents?#tbh i think ppl are just put off that theyre not perfect siblings and dont do therapy speak lmao#im also a lot more forgiving to lines like that when theyre coming from characters who are very obviously wrong#like its not just a throwaway line that gets disregarded or seen as ''hehe CLASSIC carmine!'' no her relationship with kiki is strained!!#idk. reading wc and having to read jayfeather emotionally abuse a baby orphan with zero consequences will make you much more forgiving#of characters like carmine#echoed voice
