entire fic on ao3
in which tommy finally admits he should maybe see a therapist.
thanks again to @mooshkat for the original concept
(tw: heart problems, hospitalization, self loathing)
~
Bobby is the next to show up.
"Hi," he says, disconcertingly tall as he stands over Tommy's bed with a small tupperware. "I figured you can't have anything we would normally bring for someone stuck here, but there's this recipe I liked after my heart attack. It's just chickpeas tossed with olive oil and a bit of curry powder."
"That's very thoughtful," Tommy says, touched and confused. He starts tucking in immediately. The food here could be worse, but he never has much appetite when he's unwell. Maybe eating something will make the nurses frown less often. They're very frowny in this unit. Makes sense, as they probably have the highest proportion of deaths in the building, but it's shit for patient morale.
Bobby's still standing, so Tommy tilts his head at the chair and continues eating.
"How are you feeling?" he asks, once Tommy has left the now half-empty container on his tray table.
"Fine? Tired, mostly." Which is probably for the best when the only change of scenery he gets is the regular trips to imaging. All the napping doesn't leave time to develop cabin fever. "You?"
"I'm good. A little concerned."
Shit. So he's just jumping right in. Tommy works on his breathing. "Oh?"
Bobby nods. "Buck is getting released in the next few hours. He'll probably be up here as soon as they hand over the discharge summary."
Tommy doesn't eye the monitors, but he has a brief fantasy about ripping the leads out and smashing everything on the ground. It's been a long time since he's felt this exposed for this long. "That's good."
Bobby puts his hands on the armrests of the chair. "Hen seems to think you don't want to see him, which is interesting since Buck is behaving like you're pretty much back together."
Keep him away. Do it so I don't have to see his face. "I- I'm-"
Bobby looks at him like he's a spooked horse. "I'm not just here for him, okay? I wanna help you get clarity on what you're actually looking for before it blows up in both your faces again."
It's such a brazen offer Tommy can't help but laugh. "You're welcome to try?"
Bobby smiles a little. "Kid's got a heart the size of Alaska, but--or maybe because of it--he's like the La Brea tar pits. Once you're in, that's all she wrote. It's fine, though, great even. If that's your choice."
Tommy tilts his head, reconciling this man with the friendly, new in town captain who had a veil behind his eyes. In the last eight years, everyone at the 118 figured out how to open a vein for each other, and here's Tommy. Out, flying, and only able to meet his own eyes in the mirror half the time. "What if I'm a bomb," he asks. "Or... whatever destroys tar."
"Is that how you want it to be?" Bobby presses gently.
Tommy rubs at the side of his neck. "I'd be a monster and an idiot if I said yes, wouldn't I?"
Bobby spreads his hands. "There's no relationship jail, Tommy. Doesn't matter to me if you're either or both those things. All I ask is that you keep it away from people I care about."
"No. It's-" Tommy shifts his gaze, his vision blurring. "It's not- That's not what I want. But it's not that easy, Bobby."
"Didn't say easy. Didn't even imply it." Bobby moves a box of tissues from the nightstand to the tray table. "You're no stranger to tackling something hard because you thought it would be worth the effort. Maybe give yourself a little credit."
There are oval-shaped bruises in a roughly circular pattern on Evan's forearm, resembling a school of fish. Those weren't there after the crash. Tommy flexes his right hand, which has been stiff and sore for no apparent reason. "I did that," he says.
"Yeah?" Evan frowns in confusion. "You were suffocating. It wasn't on purpose."
It can be an omen if Tommy lets it.
"Tommy?" Evan says.
Omens are stupid. "Hm?"
Evan fidgets with his free hand, pulling at the edge of his sling. "You said of course you love me, like it was easy. Like it was a given. People don't- haven't said it like that."
"How did they say it?"
"Like they were surprised. Like it was the last thing they could've expected."
"I knew it was a possibility the first time I kissed you," Tommy says, tired of choosing between truths.
He looks up. "You did?"
"Evan," Tommy sighs, "you're the fucking sun."
His beautiful eyes widen and get wet at the corners. "I didn't want the first time I said it to be when- when you were dying in my arms." A shadow passes over his features and Tommy's fingers curl, gathering a handful of his blanket. "I wanted- needed to believe that I'd get another chance. I love you, too, Tommy."
Tommy is so grateful this conversation is taking place today, when he's recovered enough to not cause an international incident every time he does anything more stressful than looking at the color green. The specter of the alarm still looms, but he's done okay so far. "I might not have heard you, if you had said it then." Tommy gestures at his chest. "The wheezing, it was very loud."
"You heard some things, though? It felt like you- you were reacting."
"Yes, Evan. You kept me going."
Evan beams. Tommy aches from the inside like someone sprinkled salt in his IV bag.
"I need," he warns, "so much therapy."
Evan shifts forward in his seat, grunting softly in pain. "I can get you some recommendations."
"Of course you can." Tommy smiles.
Evan is inches away, practically falling out of the chair. "Can I touch you?"
"Do you have the slightest idea how many medications I'm on right now?"
He ducks his head and laughs. "You know that's not what I meant."
"Oh, well, show me what you m-"
Evan lays his free hand lightly, ever so lightly, over Tommy's battered heart before leaning forward and pressing their foreheads together. "I'm so proud of you," he whispers. "I asked you not to run, and you stayed."
Right after the alarm goes off, Tommy pulls away just far enough to capture Evan's mouth with his own.

right. So I'm kinda insane and found another song to talk about in some life series / evo context: Copycat. (Song will be linked at the end of the post!)
So, many people headcanon Jimmy and Grian being brothers- and it makes a lot of sense. They're both dirty brown haired, have dark brown eyes, are British, bird coded, have warring personalities, and actually are associated both with yellow, and then one other primary color- Grian taking red, and Jimmy taking blue. Even their main colorations show a kind of "parallel difference" between them, with recently, Grian being associated with red and purple, and Jimmy with blue and yellow.
Now. Recently Jimmy did some lore of him praying to the Watchers. And back in Evo, Grian was taken into the Watchers ranks- so there is some repeated or rhyming elements in their arcs. However, I raise you this- Jimmy is Grian's "replacement", or basically, a backup for if he defects from the Watchers. That's why he has such a deference to them- its hard coded into him. That's why he's acknowledged them so much recently, because Grian's slowly leaving, and they're beginning to get Jimmy to replace him.
For a long time, those two have had a sibling dyanmic- Grian, the older, stronger, and smarter brother, and Jimmy, the younger, weaker, stupider sibling. Grian basically torments Jimmy for his own amusement, and the Watchers let it happen- if Grian ever defected, they could simply feed Jimmy praise -you're better than Grian ever could have been, hes weak and you're incredibly strong, of course we will listen to you- and he would instantly be completely loyal to them.
The song has a few choice lyrics I'd like to point out:
"We get along just fine!" "I say everything you like to hear..." "It's funny how much I feel like I'm looking in a mirror!"
Say "Hello! What's up with you?" "I'm starting to talk like you do..."
"We've grown apart this time, I can't figure out the reason why." "It's funny how much I'd kinda like to see you cry."
"I've become what you like! I am what you wanted, right? Sacrificed all that I know, I have taught myself to let go!"
In any case, the main motif of the song is losing your identity- and that's exactly what's happening to Jimmy, memories of servers being scrubbed as the Watchers prepare him to take over Grian's position. The whole chorus is Jimmy giving in to the Watchers, and thinking about Grian in anger- he pushed him too far, yes, of course- the perfect way to get back at him, to team up with the eldritch gods Grian hates. Grian said he should be stronger- well now look at him! He's one of the strongest beings alive! He is now what his brother wanted him to be, perfectly made in his image.
Oh, and in case you need further convincing, look at how Grian's wings are usually portrayed. Scarlet macaw- red, blue, and yellow. Now look at Jimmy's wings- nearly always yellow, but in Wild Life, he's become a parrot. His wings are blue and yellow now. I bet he sometimes sees little red feathers and rips them out, desperate to distance himself from Grian- unfortunately, his brother.
Meanwhile, Grian doesn't know what's up with his little brother, and is desperately trying to get him back, to prevent him from making the same bad decisions he did- maybe even losing some of his Watcher powers as Jimmy's power begins to eclipse his own.
Link+ a lil more below the cut. This post is too long already. Whoops
youtube
Okay I can perfectly see in the "Copy that copy cat!" bit in the chorus, different sprites show up with every beat. The first four are of Grian (followed by a short animation of him saying the line) hitting poses, with maybe each sprite having a little refrence to a different season or series they have been in together. And then it swaps to Jimmy, facing towards him, hitting the same poses, with matching refrences. However by the end of the song, Jimmy takes charge, doing the poses first and surrounded by eyes- and Grian, trying (and failing) to match the poses and control the eyes, confused why he's lost his power.
Give my boy Jimmy the power. Grian has tormented him far too long.

hi! could you do fluff prompt #37 with hoshi but its yn who brings hoshi flowers AAAAAAAAAA maybe because yn knows how hard this cb has been for hoshi so they surprise him with flowers after practice ><
WHY IS THIS CUTE!!!!! thank you for requesting lovely đ€
request your own: full prompt list!
check out my masterlist! // soonyoung's m.list
fluff prompt #37: "you brought me flowers? just because?"
soonyoung was getting frustrated. he had been trying to nail down the choreography for the last hour, but it wasnât clicking. his movements were stiff, and the steps felt off. it wasnât even about the difficulty of the routineâhe was just getting too worked up over the smallest things. his temper was hot, his mind too cluttered to focus.
mingyu and seungkwan were there too, leaning against the wall and watching him with amused looks. neither of them said anything, knowing well that interrupting soonyoung when he was in this mood was a terrible idea.
just as soonyoung was about to shout in frustration, the door to the practice room opened. he watches as you stepped in, carrying a small bouquet of bright flowers, and the atmosphere immediately shifted.
soonyoung stopped mid-movement, his eyes snapping to the flowers in your hands. his irritation faded for a split second, replaced by a flash of confusion. whoâs giving her flowers? he thought, his chest tightening. is it her crush?
he stared at you for a moment, his gaze slightly narrowing. âwho gave those to you?â he asked, his tone a little more annoyed than usual, though he tried to mask it.
you blinked, taken aback by the question. âuh... no one,â you said softly, holding the bouquet out toward him. âi got them for you.â
for a moment, soonyoung didnât know how to process that. âfor me?â his voice was barely above a whisper as he looked at the flowers, then back to you. âwhy?â
his ears began to burn a little, the tips turning a shade of red that was impossible to hide. he wasnât used to this, to being the center of your attention like this. he could feel his heart racing slightly as he tried to make sense of it. why would you get me flowers?
âjust because,â you replied with a shrug, offering him a soft smile.
soonyoung stared at the flowers again, the blush creeping further across his cheeks. âyou... got me flowers? just because?â his voice dropped, quieter now, a little more vulnerable. he could feel his own heart hammering in his chest.
before you could respond, mingyu, ever the troublemaker, jumped in with a grin plastered on his face. âyou got soonyoung hyung flowers? what about me? what about us? we want flowers too!"
"they're just flowers, friends can give each other flowers! calm down." you answered, trying to calm your hammering heart.
seungkwan chimed in, barely able to contain his laughter. âjust flowers? just because? this is a whole new level of romance,â
soonyoungâs eyes widened, and his ears turned even redder as he shot both of them a glare. âshut up,â he mumbled, his words barely audible. he was trying to keep his composure, but it was hard with mingyu and seungkwan giving him no mercy.
you, on the other hand, felt your stomach twist with nerves. you had no idea what was going on, but it sounded like they were making fun of you. was it that obvious? you thought, trying not to fidget with your hands. maybe bringing him flowers wasnât such a good idea after all.
soonyoung, still flustered and now very much aware of how loud mingyu and seungkwan were being, took a deep breath and finally looked back at you. âthanks... really. i, uh... i appreciate it.â
you gave him a small smile, but you could feel the tension between you two. âno problem,â you said, shifting awkwardly. âwell, iâve got some errands to run. i should go.â
as you turned to leave, soonyoungâs eyes followed you, his mind racing. what am i doing? he thought. just tell her you like her already, you idiot.
mingyu and seungkwan shared a knowing look, and as soon as the door clicked shut behind you, they wasted no time.
âyouâre such an idiot,â mingyu said, his voice dripping with teasing. âhow much more obvious can it be? flowers? just because? come on.â
seungkwan snorted. âseriously, how can you not see it? she brought you flowers, youâve gotta make a move, or sheâs gonna think youâre either completely stupid & clueless or you just don't have feelings for her.â
soonyoungâs face was burning now, his fists clenching at his sides. âi know, okay? itâs not that simple.â
mingyu rolled his eyes. âitâs not that complicated, you just need to get your act together. youâre lucky she even likes you.â
soonyoung didnât say anything more. he was too embarrassed to admit just how nervous he was about the whole thing. he didnt want to admit that something as simple as flowers got to him, but something in him clicked, and without another word, he turned and rushed for the door.
he dashed down the stairs, his mind made up in an instant.
you were just outside the building, walking down the street with your head slightly lowered. soonyoung caught sight of you and nearly tripped in his haste to catch up. âhey!â he called out, his voice breathless. âwait up!â
you stopped and turned to face him, eyes wide. âsoonyoung? did i leave something behind?â
he ran a hand through his hair, trying to compose himself. "no, uh," he took a deep breath, then blurted out the question he had been dying to ask. âdo you have time tonight? for dinner? and maybe a movie?â his eyes shifted to yours, trying to read your expression.
you blinked, caught off guard by the suddenness of his words. âdinner and movie? like... outside?"
he nodded quickly, his nervousness creeping back in. âyeah, like... outside.â
your eyes flicked between him and the ground, trying to process what was happening. âlike... a date?â
soonyoungâs heart skipped a beat, and he nodded again, more confident now as a smile creeps onto his face, âyeah. like, a date.â

Lucanis x Rook x Spite
Okay hear me out tho
Throuples? Not usually my jam. Unless things like, genuinely make sense and it feels like it actually works. But I guess it's just cuz that's how I view most ships in general. But basically I've never made a throuple just for the sake of having a throuple. That's just not for me.
BUT.
lemme just.....
(I'm putting this behind a cut cuz it's a lot of rambling most people probs don't care about. There are spoilers not like HEAVY spoilers but def stuff mentioned from like end game time frame.)
I do think Spite actually appreciates Rook from the get go, at least in my play it felt like that cuz I never reacted to Spite related convos in a perceived negative way. And all Spite really wants to do is talk to Rook from the start, Lucanis is the one stubborn about that not happening for a while. The main time he properly can, he literally asks Rook for help. Like genuinely asks for help for both him and Lucanis. "Help us" he says.
So I think his fondness for Rook grows like Lucanis' does. Naturally over time. Now is it because they're tied together? Who knows. I'm not sure it's clear that their feelings influence each others, I don't think that's addressed, the two still feel pretty separate in that regard...? (I'm in the middle of replaying so maybe there's shit I missed the first time I dunno)
Now the wings situation there's a voice line where Lucanis openly admits to Harding he has 0 control over the wings. The wings are 100% Spite. So spite does it to help. So them fighting is just team up, rather than one using the other. So if there's ever a situation Spite might be mad at Lucanis, he's probs gonna get no help. No wings. sdjhfgdjfhg
BUT THIS MEANS in the Romance scene when those wings pop... Spite's consciously involved. He's made the decision to not sit this one out. My guy created a threesome without warning. đ Either he is just like super rooting for them and ships them too and is being the worlds best wingman (pun intended) by lending aid or he's getting in on that action cuz he's also developed some sort of feels as well. Tbh it could go either way... The point is, he got involved.
But there's also evidence later in a possible party banter with Solas where Spite accuses Solas of trying to hurt Rook and is like ready to go to war for Rook against Solas. kdfjghdfkjgh
So... We have no idea what Spite and Lucanis chat about when Rook isn't around so who knows. But the vibes are there where this would in fact be a situation where this kind of ship makes sense.
Either way those three really need to talk about this... đ

(Thot)ughts abt caracalla or getaâs (both đ©) makeup melting and smudging when fking <3
UURGH, I JUST LOVE THIS THOUGHT SM. <33
You are lying in bed between the two of them after a nice fuck, the three of you panting and trying to regulate your breathing to normal. You look to one side, and see Geta's face, his eyes that at the beginning of the night were elegantly painted black, now look more like a panda's countenance, as well as his natural skin showing a little more beneath the smudged white paint, when you look to your other side, Caracalla is not in a very different situation, his face that previously contained a delicate blush, is now completely red, both from the makeup and from the redness that your night's activities brought to his pale face, he looks like a tomato, you think.
You can't control yourself and end up bursting out laughing, unable to hold back not only because of their smudged faces, but also the expression of confusion they have about your sudden laugh, it becomes too much for you, you can feel tears filling your eyes and an discomfort in your stomach from laughing so hard.
Their confusion slowly fades away when they finally look at each other, understanding why you find so much humor in this moment. A mischievous smile appears on both of their faces, Caracalla being the one chosen to verbalize the brothers' thoughts. - "It's really bold, your mockery I mean, when you're looking like that yourself" - He says, you look at both of them, now you are the confused one, but when you see Geta's gaze wandering over your naked body, you do the same... Your eyes widen when you see your body, covered in paint, the same colors as their makeup, those bastards rubbed all their makeup against you, you look like the canvas of an angry artist.
There's a moment of silence, and then you start laughing again at the harmless idiocy of the moment, both Geta and Caracalla watch you with adoring eyes as you enjoy the predicament you're in. It's only when you calm down and focus your gaze back on them that you realize something, they're both as erect as ever, again. Fuck, even your laughter makes them incredibly hard, they think.

I'm trying to redirect my political thoughts from my fandom escape blog again, but I found something interesting enough that I thought I'd talk a little about it.
Occasionally I choose suffering (looking at the more granular 2024 exit poll breakdowns rather than the summaries that I mostly don't trust much at this point). Anyway, I did find something intriguing, if not particularly surprising, in the CNN exit polls, which were done in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin with a sample size of 22,914 voters.
(I mention the specific states forming the sample because this pretty notably excludes any blue states while including some reliably Republican ones.)
Anyway, most exit polls including CNN's let respondents identify their place on the US political spectrum: conservative, moderate, or liberal (reminder that "liberal" in US usage can be a pejorative for "less leftist than me" but also a shorthand for "radical leftist" but also for "anyone who doesn't seek a cishet white Christian ethnostate", but also can be a more neutral synonym for progressives and/or leftists and is often used that way, as here). So you can look at the election results for each of these ideological factions and what share of the overall sample size they represent.
The interesting thing: this "liberal" category accounted for very similar proportions to 2020 of the overall vote in the sample (24% in 2020, 23% in 2024âa difference well within the margin of error of exit polling). There is no need to explain liberals/leftists staying home in 2024: at least in terms of proportions of the overall electorate, they didn't. Just under 1/4 of voters in 2024 were liberals or leftists, just as in 2020.
Okay, if the most leftwards faction of the US political spectrum actually formed a similar proportion of the electorate, then who did they vote for?
Harris. In CNN's own exit polls from 2020, 89% of this faction voted for Biden, and (surprisingly!) a full 10% voted for Trump. God knows what motivated that 10% Trump share after four years of his hellscape of an administration at the height of COVID, but in any case, that support cratered in 2024. 91% of this group voted for Harris and only 4% for Trump. It's an estimate, but it looks like these very peculiar Trump voters had enough of him in 2024 and around half either voted third party this time or for Harris.
So which faction is Trump's victory coming from? Further consolidation of the far right?
In part, yes! 90% of conservatives voted for Trump in 2024, vs 85% in 2020âlikely, some conservatives who voted third party or even for Biden in 2020 came "home" this year. However, conservative turnout was actually a little down in 2024, proportionally speaking: conservatives dropped from 38% of the sample in 2020 to 34% in 2024.
But there's one more major faction in all this: "moderates" or centrists. To be clear, we're talking about the US version of centrism, given that this is a US organization polling US voters about US politicians, not "Bernie would be center-right in Denmark" or whatever. This moderate faction jumped from 38% of the overall sample in 2020 to 42% in 2024, and they swung hard towards Trump, though Harris still won a plurality of them. In 2020, 64% of moderates voted for Biden vs 34% for Trump. In 2024, 57% of them voted for Harris vs 40% for Trumpâthat is, the Democratic lead among centrists dropped precipitously from +30 to +17.
Tl;drâideologically speaking, this data suggests that Trump owes his victory to gains among both right-wing and centrist voters rather than some faction of would-be leftists or progressives apathetically staying home or voting third-party or otherwise deserting Democrats (because they're insufficiently radical or for any other reason).
Oh, and if you're curious as to how this compares to CNN's 2016 exit polls, I also checked those! Harris's 84-point lead among the most leftwards faction is a significant improvement from HRC's 74-point lead in 2016. Trump also got 10% of that group in 2016, as in 2020, so it's this campaignânot Hillary's or Biden'sâthat managed to eat into whatever the hell is going on with that group.
Harris's +17 with moderates is actually a slight improvement on Hillary's +12 in 2016. Biden's jump to a +30 lead among centrists in 2020 represented either a backlash against Trump from centrists, or Biden's own rapport with that group, or some mysterious issue some of those voters had with both HRC and Harris (I wonder what it could be!!), or some combination thereof. Regardless, there are a lot of actual ideologically centrist voters in the USA and not just would-be leftists who haven't heard the good news of Marx yet. And Trump has an iron grip on the right wing at this point: he beat Hillary with conservatives by +65 in 2016, then beat Biden with an even larger margin of +71, then leapt to a 81-point lead over Harris with right-wing voters this year.
#at some point the usa's left (which includes me! to be clear) is going to have engage with the basic reality#that centrists and conservatives really truly exist and vastly outnumber us and genuinely hold socioeconomic beliefs#that are largely antithetical to our own#voters who listed economic concerns as their top priority voted 80-19 for trump#some /are/ persuadable and others will swing against whoever the incumbent is regardless of policy#but fundamentally they don't agree with us. they really truly think republican policies are good for the economy#we need to stop pretending that we're dealing with different and more psychologically comforting problems than we actually have#maybe it's bc i have to endure a lot of centrist nonsense irl that the way a lot of other progressives talk about them frustrates me#but so many refuse to believe that we're not a silent majority. the flat refusal to leave that fantasyland is exhausting tbh#anghraine babbles#long post#cw politics#us american blogging#election night hell 2024#anghraine rants#mostly for the tags

Act 3 Emmrichmance: Lich Edition
alt title: if you're really determined, "'til death do us part" is only a suggestion
okay so, after the point of no return some pretty major stuff happens in the romances. @/crossdressingdeath and i talked in DMs about how, as far as we can tell, all the romances have some sort of unfinished business going into the endgame. in the lucanismance, it's him cutting rook off from saying they love him, in the davrinmance it's a discussion about davrin's fear that one of them is going to die just as he's starting to imagine a future with them, and with emmrich it's The Argumentâąâwhich as i've discussed before, is emmrich and rook having an argument about his insecurities. in the lich path, which is what i'm specifically talking about here, the argument is about his concern that rook is going to die at some point, and his fear that he's going to mourn them forever. the argument is left unresolved after some pretty intense back and forth, where rook calls him out on pushing his insecurities and fears onto them, and they have to shelve it to head to tearstone island.
to their credit, they do try to apologize to each other. in banter on tearstone island, emmrich very clearly regrets starting an argument, but he and rook both agree that now isn't really a good time and that they'll talk when they get home.
and then rook almost dies in front of him and gets thrown into fade jail by solas.
uh oh!!!!
if this isn't the manifestation of all his fears, i don't know what is. for all intents and purposes, he has lost rook. he's sure they're aliveâtrapped in a prison meant to hold gods, but aliveâand since he's a lich i have every confidence that there was not a moment of rest in the weeks it took to rescue rook. he's their fade expert, he's the best equipped to find them, and he has to, because otherwise the last real conversation they had was an argument he never got to apologize for, and he will have to live with that guilt for an eternity.
i really have to wonder if he ever would have been able to bring himself to stop looking for them.
and while i suspect their LI is always the first person to grab a hold of rook to pull them out of the fade, there's a special flavour to it when you're romancing emmrich. knowing that he's probably been obsessively trying to find them. the sheer relief he must have felt when he reached through the veil and was able to get his hands on them, to pull them through and back into the safety of his arms.
he fusses after them, too. urgently takes them to the necropolis so he can be extra certain that solas' hold on them is gone. he was afraid he'd lost them forever, he wasn't going to waste any time making sure they'd be as safe as they can be. and then he says,
"I will let nothing part us again, my love. Not in this nor any other world."
he says it in that level, sort of indulgent tone that he says all his romance lines in, so it's easy to mistake this as him being poetically hyperbolic. but let us never forget that this is the man with such a profound fear of death that he became a lich just to avoid it. he's not half as well-adjusted as he likes to appear.

Very Personal Take on Good Omens
I've always related more to Crowley. It has always been easier for me to understand them than Aziraphale, especially in s1. Don't get me wrong, I've adored Aziraphale since day one too, I just think that, personality wise, we have less traits in common.
However, since the end of s2, I've been able to really feel for Aziraphale and immediately found myself defending them and their final decision. I won't lie and tell you that, at the beginning, I didn't feel angry and even a little betrayed at all, but once I cooled down and thought about it with a clear mind I got it. And, later, I also got the reason why I was feeling so defensive about Aziraphale.
Last year I broke up with my partner, with whom I also had a lot of mutual friends. I was the one to call it off and I did it because there were some dynamics I couldn't tolerate anymore, but I still loved them and I suffered a lot (still do sometimes). Still, I knew it was the right thing to do for the both of us and I never regretted it.
The thing is, the friends we had in common never really bothered to check up on me: I was the one to call it off and I was the one who'd always appeared emotionally stronger, so why would I be suffering? However, they comforted my ex multiple times, sometimes right after I'd gone home, because they just burst into tears in front of everyone. Obviously, I was very sad and cried a lot too, I just avoided doing it in front of our mutual friends to avoid creating sides (when we broke up we promised this to each other).
Connecting all of this to Good Omens, I believe that something like that is happening in the fandom too. A lot of people are hyper focusing on Crowley's pain because it's more obvious and understandable to them, while they're painting Aziraphale as the "bad one" who broke their heart and doesn't care about them just because they were the one who made the difficult decision. And, while I understand it's easier to see it that way, I also think it's not actually that hard to dig a little deeper.
Just because someone's pain is more evident doesn't mean they were the only one to get hurt and didn't hurt back too. Crowley hurt Aziraphale too, even if we might not see it immediately or as clearly as the other way around. They're both suffering, there is no right and wrong side, they both made mistakes and, nonetheless, it's no doubt they love each other and deserve a happy ending.
I hope this makes sense. It's a very emotionally charged analysis so, even if you don't agree, be polite about it please. I know I didn't get too much into what happened in the final 15, but I've already made (and I'll make) other specific posts about it. This one was more of an emotional take.
I'd also like to underline that none of this is a contest about who's hurting more. It's an invitation not to take for granted other people's feelings but actually try and understand both sides of a situation, even if we naturally relate to or understand one more than the other. (Of course, this doesn't apply to toxic relationships).

Aww, thank you for reading & for the kind words, @blackthorn-roses đ I hear you on The Final 15. The part that actually breaks me in a good way about the end of S2 isn't even that Aziraphale got into the elevator. It's the way their song in The Bentley and Crowley staying outside the car showed them both still fighting for their relationship.
It circles back to what we learn about what they're both working on back in season's first episode with the argument over Gabriel. Their interactions there show that these two (who already have the healthiness that is The Apology Dance) are continuing to work on getting better at arguments, which is the most married thing possible. They each have something they're working on with it that we can see in the argument.
Aziraphale says stuff he doesn't mean that he regrets when he's angry so he is trying to curb that. Crowley runs away in anger and is trying to get better at managing that. In reality, both of them are stuck in a difficult situation because it's hard to recover from trauma when you're still threatened with it but they're both actively trying and the dialogue suggests they've agreed to both work at these things and help one another with it. Crowley has that oh, so this is how you wanna do it, then? moment when Aziraphale is about to snap that is very much honey, you're about to do the thing, giving Aziraphale a moment to take a breath and use more productive words. Crowley winds up having to do The Apology Dance because he's the one who doesn't hold up his end and left during the argument but they both know that it's pretty understandable, given his PTSD and the situation triggering it. They approach each other's challenges with empathy and humor in The Apology Dance afterwards. This is all healthy and it's shown to be what they can do when they can communicate openly and privately, which is what is taken from them in The Final 15.
In The Final 15, they can't speak openly and, even then, they normally would have been able to manage that better than they did here but a series of unfortunate events pile up and cause them to misunderstand one another. It takes a whole bunch of things happening for that to even happen in the first place. Even if it seems like it's over, it's really not, because they refuse to stop fighting for each other. They both didn't do well in their disagreement in The Final 15 and did the things they have been trying not to but then they both turn around and try to show the other that they know that and make it as right as they can, right in the moment. Aziraphale has the car help him with the song to tell Crowley he loves him. Crowley went out the door but he stayed by the car, trying to live up to his promise to not leave. Through the last scenes, they're still trying with one another.
Those aren't the actions of people who got Ineffably Divorced. They're ones of people who love each other like crazy and don't want to lose one another. A series of outside events caused a lot of confusion and misunderstanding but they'll realize what's happened and sort it out. It's a sad ending for sure because they're both miserable at the end of it but there's more hope there than I think it gets credit for sometimes.
Just on the back of your last post about how Aziraphale and Crowley have been a couple for (literal) ages, of which you have me thoroughly convinced, there's one thing I've never been able to figure out.
In 1941, when Crowley saves the books, what are we seeing from Aziraphale? By this point he knows damned đ well that Crowley adores him, so I very much doubt the 'this is when Aziraphale realised his love was returned' theory. Is it to do with their holy water fight?
Apologies if you've covered this already but I've read through your master post and most of your previous posts and couldn't find anything. I keep musing on it and thinking 'oh Vidavalor will know but I shouldn't bother them'!
Ground Control to Mr. Tom! đ Hi there. đ You are correct that I haven't done a post about this, which feels very much like my all-over-the-place blog, because this is one of the most-discussed scenes in the show. đ You are absolutely not a bother! Do not speak such silliness. I'm going to explain my take on that scene with some help from The Archangel Fucking Gabriel. Therefore, there is hot chocolate, should you want a mug.đ
This is also going to be my contribution to the Azirafeast celebrations so I wish any of you reading this many scrumptious returns!
Below the cut is the one in which someone who thinks Crowley and Aziraphale have been lovers since ancient Rome offers an opinion on what's going on with Aziraphale and the books in 1941... by way of a look at what we might be able to learn about this moment from its sister moment in Gabriel & Beez's flashback.
Be them real people or fictional ones, angels-- especially our two, main ones on Good Omens-- are not accustomed to feeling seen.
This is largely because they believe they exist to sacrifice themselves for the protection and betterment of others... that this is literally what they were made by God to do... or at least what they've been told God wants them to do... and, as we know, they've got plenty of questions over all of that.
They can often feel guilty about their consumption of resources-- or their curiosity about doing so in different ways-- when they've been told that those resources and the experiences that come with them are not for them, even if all evidence seems to suggest that might not really be the case.
They are told they are supposed to live small lives of sacrifice and are, as a result, full of conflicts about their hungers, their needs, their desires... about their love, and the want of a free life of their own.
They exhibit perfectionist behaviors, are full of self-criticism, and are excessively self-sacrificing.
Intellectually, they know they are a person with wants and needs like everyone else but they've been taught that they are supposed to be above all of that and breaking free of that abuse comes with negative self-thoughts, anxiety, depression, and a whole slew of other fun struggles.
That attempted thought control and oppression of people that is responsible for these angels' inner torment, though? As The Supreme Archangel aptly puts it while having a total breakdown shown by chasing his metaphorical self (The Fly) around the bookshop and trying to kill it with a Bible...
...it never works.
It might, unfortunately, get some people but it never, ultimately, works in society as a whole for very long because people want to live. People are made to live. They will seek out coffee over death and rebel against any society that seeks to oppress them in whatever way that they can. Eventually, angels who want to break free will find different ways of letting themselves be individuals on their own terms, even as they are still full of conflict about it, as we've seen Aziraphale and Gabriel do throughout the story.
They'll express themselves in different ways but with the same sense of desperation to have something of their own as a way of admitting that they are a person, too.
Maybe, one night, an angel will, say, allow himself to indulge his hungers by eating an entire ox... maybe in front of the demon he'd like to consume with just as much enthusiasm. Maybe those hungers become ones that, despite his inner conflicts that lead to periodic episodes of depression and fasting, this angel will allow himself to otherwise regularly satiate, and in which he finds enjoyment, nourishment, connection and peace, that he would not have otherwise found.
Maybe, on another night, a different angel will let himself slip away from Heaven and return having consumed resources for himself, in the form of a tailor-made suit that serves as proof to himself that he isn't just a symbol but an individual person in his own right. Maybe it gives him a connection to his body that also leads to him jogging and exploring more of the world. Maybe he allows himself the freedom of owning what he can of his own body and own appearance because control over these things have otherwise been taken from him in the process of denying his personhood and making him more of a symbol to be venerated.
While these are good examples of these two angels finding different but similar, healthy paths to recognizing themselves as people, it's one thing to recognize yourself but another thing for someone else to recognize you.
Angels are wonderful at taking care of everyone else but they sometimes have a blind spot when it comes to their own needs and safety. They are so busy taking care of everyone else that they are prone to making mistakes with their own care.
Such as this angel below being so pleased with an opportunity to contribute to the war effort that he missed that he'd accidentally let himself be recruited by the wrong side...
...and needing his partner to identify some Nazis and redirect some bombs to keep him from being discorporated...
...and such as this other angel below being pleased with his ability to show care towards his new partner...
...but also, as we can see by the expression in his reaction to Beez's suggestion above, so unused to being cared for that, even if he was intellectually aware of it, the aspect of partnership involving mutual care was so foreign to him that it threw him for a bit of a loop.
Sometimes, an angel will be going through a period of struggle when it comes to their interactions with the world. It's often times not even just the feeling that they should just be advisors more than active participants and that the world is not for them. They are, in these moments, just imposter syndrome run amok, and that robs them of pursuing that which makes them feel happy and fulfilled.
Loving an angel in this mode requires gentle, genuine, affirming care:
The imposter syndrome modes can strike at any time for angels but tend to do so especially when they've very recently tried to engage with the world in a big way and saw it backfire.
Like when they spend a lot of time trying to sort out their place in the world and regularly go back and forth between being so influential that they personally own and have developed an entire city neighborhood but also then have days when they don't want to open their own bookshop to the world.
Like when they are supposed to be an angel and nothing else but, if they could choose a vocation, they'd be doing card tricks and pulling rabbits out of hats at birthday parties for all of eternity, and they feel so massively guilty about it that they tell themselves that the magic shop is not a place for them.
But maybe never more than like when there is a war on... an absolutely massive, global war... the first atomic war, the war that could bring about Armageddon, for all the angel knows... and everyone in the human world is trying to do their bit as best they can and, one day, a young woman claiming to be British intelligence knocks on the door and says that they need the angel-- this particular angel and only him... this angel who sometimes feels like he doesn't always know how best to help but wants nothing more than to be good and do good and help others.
The Allied Forces needs Mr. Fell for an intelligence mission to help thwart the Nazis and work towards stopping the war. And what do they need from this angel, in particular?
They need his books.
Aziraphale collects books of all kinds but he has two major personal collections that are highlighted in the story. One is humorous and self-aware-- a collection of misprinted Bibles. Those are living proof of the fallacy of language and gospel-- of the bullshit of people. They are comforting to him in their existence, as they reinforce his sense that following what others say is the word of God is not really a better path than following his own moral compass. The Allied Forces don't need these books, though.
They need the other ones that Aziraphale has been collecting forever:
His books of prophecy.
This angel collects written works by humans that profess to be prophetic. He has original works of Nostradamus and Mother Shipton and many others. He has preserved them throughout centuries, keeping them safe in his care, even if the works are, largely, complete and utter balderdash. He has kept these books, nutty as they are, safe from damage and in existence, for years, just in the event that maybe these humans, in some way, really did have answers as to the future of the world in which the angel lives, too.
The one that he knows has been slated to be destroyed around 6,000 years from its inception-- a date that was approaching closer with each breath in 1941.
Was it really going to happen? Was there a way to stop it? Aziraphale has been trying to see if maybe the humans have found a way, studying their prophetic works for centuries upon centuries, anxiously looking for clues on how to stop Armageddon and save the world he loves...
...and also therefore be able, as a result, to stay on Earth with the person he loves and not be separated from him for eternity.
It's these books of this angel-- these beloved, material possessions; these perfect examples of everything that he's been told that he's not supposed to have-- that Captain Rose Montgomery of British Intelligence says that he can provide to entrap some Nazis and help save the world for his fellow humans and his partner.
An angel's biggest blind spot is always wanting to help and never feeling like they're doing enough. They're vulnerable to trusting the wrong people for the right reasons. Their desperation to do good and be good in the face of feeling like they're not a good person at all can cause them to have the best of intentions but be open to manipulation by those with the worst of ones.
Sometimes, it's a human Nazi. Sometimes, it's a supernatural one...
...same difference. Both dangerous. Both examples of an area where an angel might not survive if they don't let in a trusted person who can give to them the same love and care they give to everyone else.
The fallout from making a mistake can be devastating to an angel.
They feel embarrassed and snappish-- the anger and frustration related to the miscalculated situation triggering (and masking) the anxiety and depression to which angels are hardly strangers.
They can retreat into self-doubt. Moments of bravery when it comes to trying again are sometimes just as quickly diluted by their compounding insecurity and the fear that they are just jiggery-pokery and do not belong in the world.
This is when they need their demons the most.
Demons? They are fallen angels.
They know all this about angels because they're not much different themselves.
They have had the experience of having to redefine themselves in the face of being told by their societies that they were no longer angels and, in some ways, that has freed the more introspective demons to have enough perspective to offer counsel to willing angels as to how to manage those conflicts.
These demons, like Crowley and Beez, are uniquely well-suited to loving angels because they have also been through these same conflicts-- and still struggle with many of them.
These demons have experienced violence and violation as a result their angelic conflicts. They are drawn towards the inherent goodness of their angels, who approach them with kindness, respect, and a sense of equality to which the demons are not accustomed but which helps to build trust.
Just as these demons seek to protect these angels from harm that might befall them in the future, the angels we're discussing are both mindful of their partners' pasts and take care to help them feel safe. They are emphatic about their partners' comfort, reinforce their expectations of a partnership involving free choice and equality, and continually make clear that they consider-- and will always consider-- explicit, enthusiastic consent essential.
Their demons' knowledge of the darker aspects of the world also make them uniquely aware of the risks to their angels and they seek to protect them from experiencing the same pain they have felt from trusting the wrong faces. They do everything they can to keep their angels from falling-- literally, as in from Heaven, or more figuratively, as into despair.
They give them music and food and companionship... they open up the world for the angels and help them live life with the other people in the pub, literally and metaphorically. They explore the human world with them and make them feel less alone, letting the angels do the same for them.
Loving an angel is first seeing that angel there and acknowledging their humanity. It's affirming their imperfection as being just part of personhood and holding up that personhood as being worthy of love. It is reflecting back to the angels the same empathy, openness, and lack of judgement as what the angels give to them.
It's seeing that the angel who wrestles with living up to the expectations of the statues in his honor and the titles for which he never asked is, really, an imperfect, good-hearted, kind person beneath his snarky, sharp-edged exterior. It's seeing the depression that clouds his eyes and the fine edges he's walking in Heaven and knowing what comes next more than maybe can see in the moment and protecting him, as best as someone can, from the fallout of those actions.
Beez knows what it is to fall. They see Gabriel already in a downward motion in every way there is and knows that it comes with risk of losing himself, the way that they once did themselves. They dump out the matchsticks because the good kind of fire is already lit between them and the fire of Hell is not for their angel. They gift him a fly-- that which is made from their body. They are Gabriel's container. He is safe by putting all of himself, literally and figuratively, into Beez.
While this is a big moment in the Ineffable Bureaucracy parallel and one that also parallels the holy water, Gabriel's response to it is a mirror to Aziraphale's response to Crowley saving the books in 1941. What can Gabriel maybe tell us about what Aziraphale was feeling then, through what is similar and what is different about these two moments?
For starters, Gabriel and Beez knew how they felt about one another before The Fly. They already had shared that through "Everyday". The Fly is not an "oh" moment for Gabriel, in the sense that it wasn't a sudden revelation of either Beez's love or of his own. If anything, he and Beez never really had an "oh" moment in that sense of one because elements of how they both felt were always just understood and present in their interactions.
This is honestly true of a lot of relationships. A lot of "oh" moments are not so much becoming aware of having feelings for someone but are just being hit with a new aspect of love that both/all parties is/are already aware is in existence, even if it hasn't always yet been fully spoken.
In S1, we see that Gabriel and Beez only let their guard down around one another. They have always been as close to friends as they could be in their positions. They already care about one another when we first see them together and then, in S2, Gabriel is completely unsurprised at Beez's flirting with him moments into the first date-- and Beez had no hesitation in doing so, suggesting that they likely have before.
Their attraction to one another is presented as an existing given between them from the very start of their flashback sequence. There's no "oh" over The Fly or anything else because they just know. They start to give words and actions to it as they fall deeper in love throughout the scenes but there's never any doubt that they both have been long-aware of what exists between them.
If anything, Ineffable Bureaucracy is probably the real, millennia-long pining relationship in Good Omens, as while they had all these very good foundations for a romantic relationship, they didn't really begin to pursue one until between S1 and S2.
Gabriel's response to The Fly parallels Aziraphale's response to Crowley saving the books in 1941, even if the contrasting part of the parallel is that both are responses to gestures made by these demons for their angels in very different stages of these relationships.
For Gabriel, The Fly is an "oh" moment-- but not one that is about a new revelation related to love existing. It's about what is, for him, a heartbreakingly new experience:
It's not that Gabriel doesn't already know how he and Beez both feel about one another because already he does by this point. Gabriel isn't having a realization of the existence of his love or of Beez's love when Beez gives him The Fly; he's having a realization that this is what it feels like to be loved.
And what is feeling loved, to an angel?
It's being and feeling truly seen.
It's someone noticing them and coming along to care for them while they're out there, trying to save the world when they're sometimes not sure they can even save themselves. It's someone seeing that in them and not seeing anything worth berating them about the way that they berate themselves but, instead, seeing a person worthy of their love and protection.
Loving an angel is giving them the same kindness and care that they give to the world but that they often deny themselves.
For Gabriel, that night in The Resurrectionist was the first time that anyone had ever done something like that for him. It wasn't an "oh" of I'm in love because he already knew that and that Beez felt the same way. It was an "oh", though, of falling deeper in love. It was an "oh" of feeling love.
Beez had already done kind things for him before they gave him The Fly but The Fly and its matchbox are the first ever physical things Gabriel has been given by someone. He has never had any possessions besides his clothes before. He's never been given a gift.
He and Beez go to bars and pubs on their dates; they're surrounded by humans with songs and birthdays and Christmases and going on dates and living a life that involves tangible, physical things that Gabriel is supposed to be above but to which he is drawn.
On the first two dates we see, he and Beez meet up in places but they do not order anything. They do consume the music together and, by the night at The Resurrectionist, they take another step towards engaging more in the human world that they've largely been absorbing and observing together to date. They do so through allowing themselves to be a part of the space, too-- Gabriel miracling the song on the jukebox for Beez-- but also through material objects.
They start ordering stuff. Gabriel is happy to bring Beez something-- buying them beer and a bag of chips/packet of crisps, even if they're undecided on actually consuming them. He makes it clear that he doesn't have any expectations that Beez actually eat or drink anything if they don't want to but the idea is that they have moved to a place where they can see what the humans see in bringing one another things as they move through the world together.
Gabriel has gone from a being who barely knows why he's meeting Beez in this bar to being excited to see them again and happy to buy them a drink and their preferred snack to stare at. Beez is having a ball getting the food-judgy-if-also-food-curious Gabriel to buy them what they've clearly told him he had best call a packet of crisps if he plans on seeing them again. đ They have begun to let themselves claim resources for each other and themselves and to start to get less intense about consumption, which are features of recognizing the humanity in one another and themselves.
Gabriel's "oh" moment when he is given The Fly is that this is the first time he knows what it's like to experience the world as a person who has a person who cares about them and has brought them something.
What he means when he says "no one's ever given me anything before" is really "no one's ever thought about me before."
He means no one has ever seen him there-- until Beez did.
The gift of The Fly reminds Gabriel of that and shows him getting used to the new feeling of not being invisible and alone. He falls deeper in love with Beez and sees them more fully in return as well as a result of their gift and that, it could be argued, is what love is.
Love, if it's good, is a lot of "oh" moments-- because you don't fall in love once. You fall over and over again, deeper each time.
The difference between this moment with Gabriel and Beez versus the paralleling one between Crowley and Aziraphale is that, by 1941, our angel, Aziraphale, has known years upon years upon years of being seen by his demon.
(Amusingly, considering the theme of love as recognition, The Serpent is also literally, ya know, um, rather watchful at times. đ)
Aziraphale is no stranger to Crowley being kind to him or rescuing him from the times he might have blundered, like we all do at times, in trying to do good.
Crowley saving the books in 1941 is absolutely not the first time that he's ever done something as Beez-and-The-Fly-level romantic as this for Aziraphale. In many ways, that's likely the point.
While The Fly was the first time of what will be many that Gabriel experienced what it was to feel loved by feeling seen, Crowley saving Aziraphale's books is a gesture that could not have happened at all without Crowley's long-held, intimate knowledge of Aziraphale as a person.
What makes Crowley saving Aziraphale's books so romantic isn't even just that he knows how important the books are to Aziraphale but that he knows Aziraphale so well that he could predict that the books would need rescuing.
Crowley knew that his angel would only focus on getting the two of them out of the church alive and unharmed and absolutely was going to forget about those beloved books of his while trying to protect them both and then be completely and utterly crushed when he did.
In this way, it's a contrasting parallel to Gabriel and Beez because, while that was the first time Gabriel had ever felt seen, 1941 is time number six trillion and five that Crowley had made Aziraphale feel seen like this and he's now so well-practiced at it that it's old hat at this point.
There is no judgement from Crowley about what happened with the Nazis in any of this. Aziraphale is horrible to himself over things like mistakes like he made in this church and being forgetful about these books but Crowley sees no such need for any of that. He protects Aziraphale from the fallout but in such a way that says he admires Aziraphale for trying to take the actions that he did. He sees Aziraphale as brave and his actions quietly affirm, much in the way that Beez does for Gabriel, that just because they are an angel who is used to doing for others doesn't mean they're not also a person who needs someone to do for them, too, and that Crowley is happy to be that person.
Aziraphale is reminded by Crowley knowing him well enough to anticipate that the books will need to be saved and taking care of that for him that they are a team. That Aziraphale doesn't have to worry about managing everything on his own because he and Crowley help each other manage life. They know each other well and have been together so long that they just know how to take care of one another.
It's not an "oh" of a realization of I'm in love for the first time. It is, as Michael Sheen says, a moment of falling in love. It's an "oh" of having been in love for a very long time and that love still finding new ways to surprise in its ability to keep causing Aziraphale to happily fall deeper and deeper...
This isn't realizing love and it's not the first time that Crowley has done something sweet and romantic like this for him-- it's the power of it being the nine billionth time Crowley has. It's the feeling of "oh" for Aziraphale that is a reminder that he is safe in the knowledge that Crowley knows him, through and through, and when confronted with the most real Aziraphale there is... the one that can be prone to making mistakes out of insecurities and self-doubt... the one that struggles sometimes with self-worth and brutal perfectionism... Crowley knows, sees him there, and is still madly in love with him.
Crowley never sees Aziraphale as weak or lesser for feeling any of it. He loves those sides of Aziraphale because he loves all of Aziraphale. He won't let Aziraphale be embarrassed because he likes and admires him as he is. He's gentle and kind and understanding about Aziraphale's insecurities, treating Aziraphale with the same care that Aziraphale shows him.
Crowley, better than anyone else ever has or will, sees Aziraphale for who Aziraphale truly is.
He loves that angel and his love helps Aziraphale to quiet some of his self-doubts and be a little kinder to himself-- much in the same way that Aziraphale's love does for Crowley. Crowley loving him makes Aziraphale feel like maybe there's a chance that he might be worth loving.
Loving an angel is making them feel seen and Aziraphale, holding those books Crowley rescued for him?
He felt very loved indeed.
The "oh" moment of 1941 is one moment where we see that Aziraphale has just been reminded of just how much Crowley truly sees him there-- and of just how much Crowley loves him. What we are watching, imho, is not the first realization of love but just one of a million different moments throughout history of Aziraphale continuing to fall deeper and deeper in love with Crowley.

I'm so sorry but I'm blind as shit even with my glasses on because they're two years old and I need new ones so I have to ask. What is your pfp because I cannot for the life of me figure it out but it's funky and I love it.
Anyway, *cracks knuckles* you're about to watch me tear into different parts of Scotland with no context other than I'm Scottish and allowed to
"Now, lad. Wit bit of Scotland are ye fae exactly?"
John instantly knows that letting MacMillan and Soap drink together is a dangerous choice because the two get on like a house on fire but that's not what worries John. What worries John is this. The Scotland talk because he'd sat through more than enough rants from Mac back in the day about the best parts of Scotland and [in Mac's own words] the "shite" parts.
"Glasgow, sir. Pollockshaw, if ye ken it?" There's a brief moment of silence between the Englishmen at the table and Nik as they await the older Scot's reaction. Is that a good place? Fuck if John knows.
"Aye, aye. I get ye, I'm Stewarton myself." Mac looks amused, as does Soap. That has to be a good sign, surely.
"Oh, you're a hard man then. Dinnae tell me you went tae school there anaw?" It takes one glance around the table to know that he isn't the only one needing a written translation. Simon is mouthing half of the words that Soap says under his breath to try and follow along with him, Kyle looks positively befuddled and Nik looks two seconds away from seeing if he can lift both arms properly.
"Aye, fuckin' shitehole and I wis quick tae get my arse oot of that fuckin' school. Could've been worse, I could've been fae Cumnock. Or ye could've been fae Maryhill."
"My da's side is fae Maryhill."
Oh fuck. John doesn't try to hide his wince. Leave it up to Mac to commit some cardinal sin when discussing Scotland.
"Even he'd agree with ye, it's a soulless vacuum of dugshite, empty needles and misery."
Nevermind then?! John is confused, deeply confused. Why the hatred for Maryhill? And better question, where the fuck is Maryhill?
Mac and Soap share a laugh between themselves that only furthers the confusion between the non-Scots of the table.
"Better than Govan." They both crack up at that, loud laughter waving over the table. Is it possible for someone to laugh Scottish because both of them seem to be doing so.
Kyle nudges him with a light elbow to the ribs, cheeky bugger.
"You catch what any of that meant?"
"Not a fucking word, sergeant. Not a fucking word."
Eventually, they leave the two men to chatter between themselves. None of them have the ears nor dictionary to translate whatever the fuck those two are spitting at each other. That is until John hears a question that has him demanding silence from his end of the table.
Leave it to Mac to ask the dreaded question of the night.
"So, son. Ye a Rangers boy or a Celtic boy?"
Even Simon and Kyle look over with wary expressions, Nik might not understand the significance of such a thing but the lads do. Mac asks with such a casual demeanour, you'd almost think it was a friendly query. It is not.
"Rangers, sir."
"Smart choice, son."
A shared sentiment passes through them all.
Thank fuck.

Guess who's back with more doodles of the Clownlings?
Clownwish had a very brief fling with some random molly for a few weeks, it was never meant to be serious. But miss molly wasn't pleased to find herself pregnant and, as soon as they were born, immediately tracked down Clownwish and foisted these kits into his paws. She only said, "They're yours. Take them" before sauntering away, never to be seen again. Clownwish couldn't even refuse because it all happened to so fast.
And then he sat there on the outskirts of the circus, alone in the cold, dark silence with tiny little kittens in his paws, no more than a couple days old. He never thought he'd become a father, it was all so sudden. And he didn't even know what to do with kits, it was just him, his dad, and Tigertoe for so long, he has no idea what kit will be like.
He really, really considered leaving them outside to die, pretending that this never happened at all. They were young, it was cold out, they were probably hungry, he didn't even have to do anything to them. He could literally just leave them in the grass and either they would die or one of the humans would find them. Either way the problem was taken care of, easy peasy!
But... he supposed they were kinda cute, and Tigertoe was expecting anyways, so he could easily foist them onto her and they'd be out of his hair. Easy!
After some explaining, Ringstar was surprised but reluctantly allowed his kits to join. Tigertoe seemed surprised too, although more out of a "how did any molly find you attractive" kind of way, but she obviously won't turn away kits, especially with her own litter so near.
For the first few days Clownwish was hesitant around the kits, and wasn't really sure what to do. Both Tigertoe and Trapeezetangle insisted on him coming to visit them since he IS their father, so he reluctantly hung around the nursery for a while. It stayed like this for the first week, until Tigertoe insisted he hold them for a little bit so she could get some rest. They were napping so it wasn't hard to move them
Clownwish still wasn't sure what he was supposed to be doing, although he was curious since he'd never seen real kits before. They were... warm, and smelled like milk, and so, so fragile. They were barely the size of his paw, just one move and they'd be dead.
They were so soft too, so round and... cute, yes, they were cute, especially when one of them yawned and made the cutest little squeak, and oh his nose is so small and pink, like a button-
And it was that moment where Clownwish fully gave into the cute baby syndrome and became a dad
Clown as a dad isn't perfect, obviously. It's clear who his favorites are (coughcoughRopestripeandDovetrickcoughcough), he tends to let the kiddos wail on each other and doesn't really punish them, and he tends to put them in dangerous situations, like showing them the lion's den or letting them paint with deathberries. But he's also laid-back, fun-loving, involved, and is very proud of his kits, except Stiltstripe because the universe hates them. Overall, considering the model for fatherhood skill he had, he didn't do THAT bad of a job
And there's some stupid doodles lmao
Also, here's some more polished designs for the Clownlings
Ropestripe
Medicine cat apprentice
Aroace
Absolute gremlin creature, will bite unprovoked
Usually eerily cheerful, like placid water above a lake
Very hard to read, rarely changes their expression
An absolute yapper to their siblings and dad
He loves organizing and finding the most uncomfortable places to nap
Has a very good memory and holds grudges easily, but they'll also remember when you did him a favor and repay in kind
Very morbid and is interested in the spirit world, is trying to contact Goldpool to find out more about her
Ringstar is very, very afraid of him for whatever reason. Ropestripe LOVES sneaking up on him and scaring the shit out of their peepaw
He and Dovetrick are Clownwish's favorites
Stiltleg
Warrior (Weird emo kid in the back)
Asexual panromantic
I gave them slutty little leather leg-warmers for funsies
Absolute pathetic, I love them
Very emo
Just generally a downer. Very sullen, angry, melodramatic, and whiny
Is also easily offended and yet extremely antagonistic, but will immedaitely cower as soon as a fight breaks out
Pretty much everybody hates them, even the universe
The only people they aren't antagonistic towards is Dovetrick (She lets them vent to her and is pretty chill, plus she's the only one out of their siblings that doesn't bully them) and Ringstar (They both sad in their own ways)
Underneath their prickly crust, they're actually rather helpful, always willing to fetch something for their sister for her shows, and intelligent. They steal whatever books they can find and devour them at a rapid rate
They're super passionate about books
Always needs to be doing something or they get bored
Has the WORST luck ever and has been almost killed on multiple occasions. Actually has burn scars under those slutty leg warmers that they're very insecure about. I told you the universe hated them
Lionroar
Warrior (Strongman)
Bisexual
I majorly redid his hair and gave him a neat little leotard
Super duper strong and LOVES violence, they would absolutely be the first on the frontlines in case of a legit battle
An egotistical showboat
Get super moody when his spotlight gets stolen away
A very, very dense boy
Although he constantly fights with his siblings, he would absolutely take a bullet for any of them, even Stiltleg
Acted out a lot as a kit to get Clownwish to notice him after he started taking an interest in his other siblings
Very competitive, he HATES losing
Best buds with Whippaw, they share a single collective brain cell between them and do shit like backflipping off the ferris wheel
Helps Dovetrick with some of her acts
Dovetrick
Warrior (Magician)
Pansexual
Always looks tired
Has very soft fur. Clownwish wanted to name her Fluffykit, but Tigertoe managed to talk him into choosing something more dignified. He still calls her Fluffle-Puff though
Super duper chill and easy-going, you could steal her prey right in front of her and she'd just shrug her shoulders
Tends to skip out on warrior duties, a bit lazy and selfish
Has a lot of opinions about things but keeps these to herself
Very creative, absolutely loves putting on her own little magic shows for the clan
She is METICULOUS about details, she has to have everything go perfectly in her shows or she'll cry. Not on stage though, she still has an audience!
Met Gerry when he was a young chick who fell out of his nest, she nursed him back the health and has loved him ever since
She's very close with her auntie Tigertoe and Uncle Trapeezetangle
She and Ropestripe have a very rocky relationship due to him constantly trying to kill Gerry in increasingly convoluted ways, but they play nice for their dad
The absolute LORE DUMP FOR THESE LITTLE CRITTERS oh this was an absolutely DELIGHTFUL read! I love that Clown straight up considered leaving his own kids to die because. Yeah, he would. âAinât nobody got time for that đ
â to ânvm you kinda cuteâ pipeline. LOVE the kits personalities and backstories and relationships! Absolutely had to draw them. I am not immune to the Clowndad propaganda, as it turns out.

Hii btw I just wanna say I love ur posts they're amazing. But I just have a request, I have been recently traumatized cause I watched the ep in which Emma dies. And seeing draken losing it was really sad. Do you have any hc's for them as a couple? Tysm
Thanks! Ah that is a really hard scene to get through so here are some hc's with the two of them together!
Draken was happy the rest of the week after giving Emma that bear for her birthday, he was so glad it was a success.
They can go from being very open with each other to being shy very quickly (normally it's when someone assumes the two of them are dating)
They're both very caring towards each other, always checking up on each otherÂ
Everyone thinks they're dating before they actually are, so when they do become a couple most people are just confused "i thought you two were already together?"
Draken happily beats up anyone who dares to be rude about "Mikey's sister"
Both of them are always asking Mikey "How's Draken doing?" "How's Emma doing?"Â
They go on very simple dates, normally just to the park or something. Being with each other is more important then anything else to them.
Emma still considers Draken's bike to be her biggest rival, even after dating.
They have each other as their phone backgroundsÂ
Emma absolutely wears Draken's jackets even though they're way too big for her
These two have to put up with so much teasing from Mikey (the rest of toman frequently join in too)
Despite Draken trying to hype himself up for his first kiss with Emma, it's Emma who impulsely kisses him first.
Emma loves cute pet names but it takes Draken awhile to get comfortable with using them

I just had a deliciously angsty thought.
What if the Buckies weren't together in the stalag? They're best friends but don't have those feelings for each other. But someone has to bite Gale to keep him safe and together they decide it should be John. ( Maybe Gale only trusts John, because this bite ties Gale to him and will bring out the more omega side of him.) Or maybe John thinks it has to be him because he's his best friend, of course he's going to keep him safe
With the bond comes sex, as now that they're mated and tied heats and ruts are painful without their partner. Both start to fall for the other but think the other isn't into them so there's this weird, twisted, "I'm enjoying his body on top of me, inside me, his teeth on me, but I shouldn't" and hands carefully kept out of hair so as to not be too intimate and John feeling guilty that he finds it so satisfying to pin Gale to the nearest surface and dive in. They both think the other is just doing this because the bite is making them and that their feelings are a burden.
Obvs they figure it out eventually
Ahhh Iâm here for it!!!â€ïž
Gale agonizing over having a chunk of his autonomy stripped like that and John sick over being the one to do it. But they canât imagine it being anyone else and no one can come up with a better solution. This would definitely be more in line with something super angsty like nonconsensual type fuckery from the guards. So Galeâs safety would be paramount and they ultimately go through with it.
Love the idea of them falling in love steadily throughout almost kind of a slow realization that this has always been there but it can mean so much more if they let it. They would be so hard up for each other and trying to play it off like âitâs the bondâ because theyâre convinced thatâs what it is for the other.
Once they get that communication is sexy they def figure it out and live that happily ever after đ„°
Living for this starting out as a way to protect the bestie though đ

Hey, there! First of all, I wanted to share just how much I enjoy reading all of your detailed posts and how nearly every time they're just SO spot! This being said, I was wondering about something just for funsies: What are some moments between JK and JM that people often use as "proof" but in your eyes, they aren't actually all that significant to you and are just innocent interactions? Personally, I love being realistic and objective when it comes to KM, so there definitely are some moments that just don't look all that proof-esque to me the way other momemts between them are undeniably hinting at a possible relationship. I was curious about your views on this matter, and thank you so much if you decide to indulge in my curiosity hehe!!
Hi Anon đ
Thanks a lot for your kind words. I really appreciate it and I'm so happy to know that you enjoy my posts.
But when it comes to your ask đ
I should probably be the last person you send this to. I understand its natural to leave room for doubt since we are all assuming that Jikook are in a relationship. However, I'm a bit different, I guess, because I have no doubt in my mind when it comes to Jikook. For me, they're definitely in a long term committed relationship with each other.
I usually never try to link two people romantically unless they've made it public that they're dating. However, if I notice something undeniable in their behaviors or interactions when they're around each other, I might change my perspective. There's often a chemistry or electric spark thats impossible to hide no matter how hard they try.
And when it comes to Jimin and Jungkook there are countless behavior patterns over the years that solidify my belief. Even without considering the loud moments there are numerous subtle and consistent patterns in the way they interact with each other. A few of these are:
1) Their frequent one on one time both on and off camera
2) Their inside jokes, inside stories, their nicknames or terms of endearment for each other
3) Their familiarity with each other's habits which most of the time seem like new information to even the other members
4) Subtle physical affection like lingering touches, any excuse to hold hands, always gravitating towards each other
5) Body language (angling their body towards each other), giving the other undivided attention, using soft tones while speaking
6) Unconscious smiling where they smile a lot more in each other's presence for no particular reason
7) Blushing (cue Jimin on his birthday live 2021, Jimin during 3J Butter dance version, Jimin after blowing a kiss to Jungkook during MMA 2018 and many more)
8) The protective gestures, how they get defensive when it comes to the other
9) Their soft gazes for each other which are filled with affection and admiration
10) Their noticeable effort to support each other (Jikook at each other's practice stages), the concern and worry reflected in their eyes and voice tones when the other is having a grueling schedule, bad health etc.
All of these are indicators which reveal the depth of their relationship.
So, what I'm saying is that, what maybe proof of Jikook dating to some might not be convincing to others. This could be because those moments are subtler compared to the more obvious ones. However, that doesn't make those moments any less meaningful. When considering the bigger picture, these subtle moments, especially since they occur consistently make a significant difference in how we perceive Jikook's dynamic.
It shows that what they have is not mere sexual attraction but something they have nurtured through time and effort. That's why their love continues to thrive despite all the struggles they may have faced.
We are all unique and this uniqueness shapes the way we perceive things. Thats why there is a variety of opinions and perspectives when it comes to interpreting a moment or interaction.
And since Jikook are in love (in my opinion) almost all their interactions carry an underlying affection and fondness for each other. This is why to some these interactions might appear as evidence of them being together.
When it comes to them I always notice something special in the way they interact. They're so gentle, romantic, and fun that it makes me believe that love still exists and its possible to have healthy loving relationships even when you're super famous. They're truly a breath of fresh air.
So, yeah, thats my answer to your ask, Anon. Once again thank you so much for your kind words. They really put a smile on my face.
Have a nice day đđ»

Ok so in your opinion when do you think they'll hard launch? (Assuming they are together rn)
And if they do hard launch, do you think they'll ever tell us how it went from friends to something more or when they started dating/made it official? (I'm personally thinking that Info would come like wayyyy down the line. Unless something drastically changes when they get to the W)
Either right before the draft or like a month or so into the W season but if Azzi doesn't declare, I could see them holding off until she's out of college. I don't think they're gonna try and hide their relationship though (they're not even really trying per say right now) and will go about being each other's biggest supporters and being maybe just a little more open.
I don't think we're ever gonna get the full details, maybe little tidbits here and there but I think we'll have to wait like a good while. Like I'm think when their both retired and writing like autobiographies and stuff lol.

um eah platonic ships + headcanons bcuz why not
Maddie and apple
-they are literally co presidents (is that what they're called? Idk I forgot)
-apple has an interest in wonderland and Maddie clearly loves wonderland
-maddie is raven's best friend, so she would prolly cross paths w/ Apple a fair bit considering that apple and raven are roommates
-apple just needs Maddie in her life
2. Darling and Chase
-basic but for a reason
-training sessions where they would act like they're fighting to the death even tho if either actually hurt the other they would cry and bring them chocolate and flowers
-constantly gets mistaken as a couple. They are both gay
-smth abt the red/black versus the white/blue combo just gives life long friendship to me idk
3. Daring and Apple
-platonic daring and Apple for life
-they felt awkward around each other at first, but quickly started to hang out more
-very strong friendship, after literally being in an arranged marriage together for years and knowing each other since childhood it's kinda hard not to know each other super well
-movie nights every Friday. Apple makes popcorn and daring brings a new candy every week (he tries his hardest not to repeat any, so this leads to some very odd choices)
4. (Frenemies) duchess and blondie
-they love gossipping together in theory, but not in practice. Blondie thinks that duchess is too mean (Blondie is also mean but in a "I'm just giving you honest opinions and advice" way) and duchess hates how Blondie is always trying to film her
-blondie is super judgemental so whenever she sees Duchess with sparrow she's always like "him? Really? He is not just right"
-whenever she's mad at Blondie duchess will slightly damage her filming equipment (denting her microphone, cracking a camera lense, etc.). It's never enough to really impair anything, but Blondie does often wonder why her microphone that should be good for a couple years declines within a few months
-despite petty arguments, they are always casually talking shit in the hallways. This makes them think that they can have a friendship outside of the hallways. They cannot and the above is the result of that ignorance
