Short Prompt #136
“Aww, you finally got your big boy fangs!”
The vampire snapped at the other’s intrusive fingers as they pulled back the corners of his mouth and revealed the new elongated canines. Maybe the other vampire had pulled him out of a tight spot, maybe they gave him a safe place to live, and maybe, just maybe, they were the only thing in the world that brought him any sort of comfort anymore, but there were still boundaries.
The other vampire barely reacted, simply clasping their hands together and glancing excitedly around the room. “We should throw a coming in party! This space is plenty big enough! I’ll prepare the food and decorations, and you can make the guest list! I’ve even heard of a few games that we could—“
“It’s not that big a deal,” the vampire muttered, just loud enough to cut the other off but no so loud as to inspire conversation.
“Ah. Right. Sorry…” They smiled sheepishly at the floor then slowly up at the vampire, revealing the unnatural gaps in their teeth where fangs had once been. “Guess I just like those sorts of things.”

Tumblr media
It hadn’t been long since the outbreak started, no more than a week. Sarah had been living out of Ethan’s room since they’d just barely escaped Whitechapel High School. Her current goal? Solve this somehow. Ethan’s visions had revealed the source. She knew to dispose of the faulty coffee and warn any healthy person she encountered in the now zombie filled Whitechapel, though those encounters didn’t occur often.
Most hours she let herself out of Ethan’s room, Rory and Benny secured tightly to her, and explored the now wasteland of her hometown. It broke her heart to see the state of her fellow Whitechapel citizens, she knew how it felt to have your autonomy ripped from you forcefully, that’s why she had to cure this zombie disease.
Tumblr media
She hadn’t lost contact with Ethan, thankfully, but there conversations tended to be brief when they got the chance to communicate via walkie talkie. Ethan had initially noticed Sarah, distraught at how this disease left both humans and the occult, and knew she’d stay in town in an attempt to free these people from their own body. He’d heard her describe how the vampirism felt within her, how the loss of humanity changed her mentally, how her sharp fangs and pointed ears felt as they grew in instantly. He knew Sarah couldn’t stand to let anyone else exist like that, after all that’s why she sacrificed the cure for his sake just weeks ago.
He was on a mission of his own. Sarah’s friend Erica was still out there, she’d been skipping the past few days of school at the time of the outbreak and was nowhere to be seen still. Sarah’s brave face couldn’t hide that she was worried sick, so Ethan went looking. Erica was no more than a friend of a friend to him but he heard all about her vampiric antics. She frequented vampire parties, and a vampire party is exactly where she was found.
But something was wrong. She was meek, quiet, nothing like her usually sassy self. And aside from her demeanor, her appearance had been drastically different too. Her eyes were sunken in, similar to Benny’s eyes before he transformed. He knew her time was soon. The bite marks covering her arms gave it away before he even initially looked into her face. She’d likely turn any minute.
He was worried. About Erica transforming, about his own safety, about leaving Sarah alone for who knows how long. Sarah and Ethan had decided on holding onto walkie talkies before Ethan left to find Erica, so he spoke into his.
“Hey Sarah, are you there?” he spoke anxiously. The static of the walkie talkie filling the silence between him and Erica.
“Ethan! Oh thank god. Are you ok? Have you found Erica?” Sarah spoke frantically, a mixture of relief and fear at Ethan’s unknown situation. She was sat in his room, Rory and Benny tied to her close by. The silence in the house on her end was deafening. She was the only one home, Ethan’s parents and Jane nowhere to be found, and Rory and Benny had their mouth taped to avoid surprise bites.
Tumblr media
“Don’t worry I’m fine and on my way back. I’m with Erica, but she doesn’t look well. She’s going to turn into a zombie soon and I can’t restrain her. I can’t take her in a fight,” Sarah listened, her breath getting heavier as Ethan explained the direness of his situation. “I’m on my way back, I’ll try to get back as soon as possible, stay safe Sarah.”
“Where are you, Ethan? I can restrain Erica if you tell me where you are. You know I could get there in time.”
“You wouldn’t be able to find where I am if I described it, besides you should focus on finding a way to reverse this, there has to be something we’re overlooking. I don’t want you to worry about me, focus on taking care of yourself, but you deserve to know about Erica. She’s safe right now.”
“Ethan… please stay safe. Get back and bring Erica with you. I’d be able to restrain her. I guess… I’ll talk to you later. Over.” Sarah spoke solemnly, ending the interaction in the way Ethan had told her.
Ethan continued with Erica, trying not to look back at her frequently out of his own fear. He would do everything in his power to get back, not just out of his will to survive, but for Sarah too. What would it do to her to lose her two closest friends in one go.
Tumblr media
Spoiler alert! The zombies are cured in the same way they are in the episode, they just don’t discover it immediately in this au. The problem ends up solving itself by the time winter comes though there’s a lot to be picked up after when a whole town is left not operational for about 2 months.
Also, bonus art of Erica attacking Ethan…

Enjoy!

So I was somewhat inspired by the AUs @shitty-fallout-art would do, triggered my brain to come up with this backwards au. The Backout AU? Fallwards? Backfall? Outwards? Anyways- Some backwards in their goals, some backwards in their origins. Brain is still swirling with it.
Piper is either a secret informant for the Institute, or she gave up being a reporter after it resulted in the death of her dad.
MacCready is a Mercenary-turned-Gunner. Maybe lost Duncan to ferals and Lucy is sick and dying, their relationship is relationshit after losing Duncan, but he's still trying to find a cure for her and using his Gunner connections. This also kind of makes it make sense why he'd be fine about staying in the Commonwealth after getting the cure and being open for romance. Not completely but still. And it would make the Gunners a joinable faction, maybe
Maybe X6-88 is still a courser, but he's one who actually has his own mind and thoughts. His goal is to kidnap people for the "perfect society".
Curie is a synth who wants to be a Mrs. Nanny because she's tired of thinking so much.
Deacon was a member of the Railroad, until he lost his wife to a malfunctioning synth, and became part of the University Point Deathclaws.
Nick was a detective but sooner or later was oucasted and either left to rot amongst junk, or the Institute took him back in to help him.
Preston leaves the Minutemen to be a simple farmer.
Danse might have found out he was a synth, and joined the BoS in hopes to hide and even forget his identity.
Shaun will still be a child, and believes synths are equal people. And/Or the Institute actually wants synths to have free thought, the goal is to restart society underground and make free-thinking immortal people with the synths, which is their reason to kidnap people. I don't want to take them away from being villains, but I do want to make it so that their delusions of kidnapping and killing people for turning into synths to be more justifiable, I guess.
Cait maybe was a chem-addicted fighter whose parents gave her to Tommy because they couldn't feed her, and she ends up getting clean and finding her parents? Kinda similar to the Pauper in the Barbie Princess & The Pauper, tbh.
Dunno about Strong, Hancock, Sole, or Dogmeat though. Then there's the Railroad, Minutemen, and BoS stuff. Railroad and Minutemen might be more thriving this switch-around? And maybe the RR is for synths who escaped because they have the memories of the families they were taken from and see the situation as so wrong.
This whole idea would need tweaking and more thought, some doesn't feel like it's backwards and more of a switch or opposites thing. But characters having their stories made backwards or flip-flopped would be interesting!
If I weren't working on the fanfic with the vampire idea, I'd work on this instead.

Hey! :) First I want to say I just loveee your story and the universe you created and the lastest update is truly heartbreaking but I was super curious on the spellcaster vs vampire dynamic in your world and what are the limits of it, especially morally for Caleb:
If giving the chance, would Caleb have turned Morgyn and the sages to vampires in order to save them? Would Caleb even want to do that, would that even be saving them in his eyes or would it be condemning them - a fate almost worse than death?
Thank you soooooo much! I'm having so much fun writing, sharing, and discussing this story with you all, even when it's painful. 😭
Before I get to these questions directly, I want to reiterate that this all originates from me deciding to kill off the Sages as an inciting plot point in the legacy-based story I started this blog with, Escape from Windenburg. I posted that story here in short snippets, but in its original form it was essentially written like a novel. You can read it at my retired blog if you're so inclined. (Yes, I was doing all that for nobody but myself.)
Since I know most people don't have time to casually read a 17-chapter story, I'm going to link the most relevant parts. The attack on the Sages (which is shown but using EA animations, so it's not terribly graphic) and Misael's defeat is here. An explanation for why the Sages cannot be revived is here, and I semi-rewrote this for Caleb's talk with Grace a few weeks back. Honestly, the reasoning behind why the Sages are dead dead has always been kind of hand-wave-y, but the essence of it is that they'd been using magic to extend their lifetimes already and since they were already overdue for death, the universe literally refuses to give them back, even if methods of revival technically exist.
Combined with that fact, I know there are lots of different takes on vampire creation lore, but in this universe it's only possible if the person is still alive. They might be barely hanging on (like Helena), but they can't be fully dead. Therefore, Caleb still wouldn't have been able to fly to the Realm after getting the news from Grace and save the Sages by turning them. It was far too late by then. Now, if he had gone as soon as he started to worry and found them still alive, would he have actually turned them? This is a trickier question!
Keep in mind Helena is the first person he's ever turned, and he was faced with a similar conundrum - let her die or "save" her by turning her. In his mind, being a vampire is a curse, but if it's the only way to prevent an otherwise untimely and undeserved death, maybe it's worth it. Of course, as much as he'd like to downplay the role it played, the fact that Lilith begged him to do it can't be discounted. Would he have intervened if Helena were a random person attacked by a random vampire who he just happened to stumble upon in an alley somewhere? Probably not. He's not really the type to get involved in a situation if he doesn't have to (unless it's one created by his sister).
But if he was willing to do it for Helena, he would have absolutely turned Morgyn if given the chance. He certainly wouldn't have been thinking rationally, and he would've seen turning them as the only way to hold onto them. They were the one person Caleb had fully let know him and let himself fall in love with, and he would've done anything not to lose that. It would've been a selfish move, and he might've had to deal with the consequences later (especially if it wasn't what Morgyn wanted), but it would've felt like the only choice. As for the other Sages, if his tunnel vision even allowed him to register them, he'd hesitate at turning them because he has less of a personal connection. (Simeon and Faba were older and more traditional, so Morgyn didn't see much of them outside work and Caleb barely knew them).
I know that was a lot, but I hope it satisfied your curiosity! There's sometimes so much context crammed into my head that I can't fully fit into the posts themselves, so I always welcome questions or theories! 💜

Honestly I don't really know.
It's probably the fact that all the other vampires you listed were either sophisticated (and in byakuya and Celeste's case [although the latter is faking] seem to see it as the natural evolution of humanity) or they were super violent (and in Mondo's case, this was the reason for becoming a vampire)
There's just something appealing about, among these geniuses and psychopaths, there just being an average Joe who got turned, and he just continues going about his daily life.
He doesn't gain any grand ambitions, no new sense of self superiority, no new violent tendencies. Just this generic, albeit rather persuasive, guy who just acts like nothing has changed.
At most he spends a week somewhat giddily checking out his new found abilities while he learns to adjust to his new found strength. But then the brief excitement quickly wares off and suddenly everything is back to business as usual.
After all, as he regularly says himself, one of makoto's best traits is him being rather gung-ho and easy going as well as his ability to be optimistic in any situation.
But yeah, just this small coven of 2 overly confident badasses and a psychotic killer, and then there's just makoto. The ultimate generic protagonist who is also apparently the glue keeping the coven together (much to the confusion of outsiders)
Makoto doesn't even realise he's in a coven. He's just there to hang out with his friends to escape the stress of being future foundations poster boy
I think part of the appeal to me is also the mental image of everyone helping him through the sudden change (even if he was rather quick to accept it.) Because I like wholesome scenes like that. Even a year or so later, he occasionally uses too much strength when doing a simple task (such as getting someone a glass of water). He was banned from touching anything made of porcelain or glass for at least a month
Also I imagine it took longer than normal for him to awaken after being turned (leading to panic amongst the other survivors who worry they were too late and it didn't work) and he was very groggy and out of it for about a day after he did wake up (almost like he was sleepwalking or when someone's just woken up but not fully and could fall back asleep at any second)
then kirigiri, byakuya and Hina took turns keeping an eye on him until he properly regained consciousness. As for why Toko and Hiro didn't, Toko was too paranoid to help and Hiro couldn't be trusted to not do something stupid while watching over him (also given his free time events in the game, he also couldn't be trusted to not try and make a profit off of him)
Also after makoto is turned, Hiro 100% thinks he's somehow become some kind of double vampire (no he doesn't know how that works either, and the others have all given up on trying to figure out what he means) however Hina, as the smarter of the 2, realises that makoto wasn't actually a vampire and feels embarrassed and apologetic for falsely accusing him all these years
Unfortunately, despite his idea being completely stupid, they can't actually prove Hiro wrong because makoto actually can digest human food (just very inefficiently) and every time they try to explain to hiro, he just mentions what kirigiri said. Leading them all back to square one in the argument. They stop trying to explain after the 4th attempt
Also yes, I agree, makoto would definitely just walk around with his hoodie up to protect him from the sun. Usually he keeps his hands in his pockets to protect them, but he also keeps a pair of gloves to protect his hands in case he needs to use his hands while in the sun. At Hina's suggestion, he also keeps a face mask and a hat on him for similar reasons but he uses them way less often.
Hina: 'hey makoto, why do you never wear that hat and mask I gave you? Wouldn't it do a better job of protecting you than just your hood?'
Makoto: 'it just makes me feel too much like a celebrity hiding from the paparazzi. It's uncomfortable'
Hina: 'i hate to break it to you, but you're famous as the ultimate hope, doesn't that make you a celeb...'
Makoto, putting a finger over her mouth: 'I've been denying that fact since we joined future foundation and I'd like to keep it that way'
That's a really thoughtful answer! I truly appreciate your interest in this AU of mine and your attention to its details. Your insights are inspiring.
An average joe among geniuses and psychopaths. That's just how Makoto already is in Danganronpa, huh? One could argue, though, that him being warm would only enhance that theme. He lacks all the abilities that make vampires feel superior to humans, including the keen intellect and super perception prized by the likes of Byakuya and Kyoko. But he's still the one who solved every murder mystery, identified the mastermind, and saved all their skins. Of course, he could always choose to turn on his own volition long after the events of the games ...
Although I'm pretty content with my interpretations for this. AU so far, you make a solid point in noting that my choices for vampirized characters don't exactly lean positive. I literally made Toko half-vampire and put the vampire half on her evil side. Even the sweet Sayaka ends up luring a warm boy with the goal of overpowering and killing him. Not a good look, especially when AD takes pains to note that vampires run the moral gamut just as much as the warm.
Among the survivors, Toko has firmly Jekyll-and-Hyde'd herself. Byakuya abandoned his humanity long ago. Maybe Kyoko is a genuine teen sleuth from Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys times and shed her touchy-feely side decades ago to better deal with the cold hard facts of murder cases. Makoto turning would remedy my problem not simply be default, but because he can show his friends that being a vampire doesn't require losing touch with one's emotions or empathy, just by being his normal silly self.
Hey, isn't there already a point in THH where Makoto lies bedridden on the cusp of life and death, with a mysterious dark figure and Kyoko looming over him at different points of a long and feverish night? Oh snap, what if Junko gets fed up with this warm kid's interference and tries to drain him, only for Kyoko to save him by turning him?! The idea would need more brainstorming, but it's a start ...
Anyway, I'll definitely keep your observation in mind as I work on the SDR2 installment (which is already in progress!).

Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show | Bethany Joy Lenz | Published 2024
Tumblr media
In the early 2000s, after years of hard work and determination to breakthrough as an actor, Bethany Joy Lenz was finally cast as one of the leaders on the hit drama One Tree Hill. Her career was about to take off, but her personal life was slowly beginning to unravel. What none of the show's millions of fans knew, hidden even from her costars, was her secret double life in a cult.
An only child who often had to fend for herself and always wanted a place to belong, Lenz found the safe haven she'd been searching for in a Bible study group with other Hollywood creatives. However, the group soon morphed into something more sinister - a slowly woven web of manipulation, abuse, and fear under the guise of a church covenant called The Big House Family. Piece by piece, Lenz began to give away her autonomy, ultimately relocating to the Family's Pacific Northwest compound, overseen by a domineering minister who would convince Lenz to marry one of his sons and steadily drain millions of her TV income without her knowledge. Family minds assigned to her on set, "Maoist struggle session" - inspired meetings in the basement of a filthy house, and regular counseling with Leadership were just part of the tactics used to keep her loyal.
Only when she became a mother did Lenz find the courage to leave and spare her child from a similar fate. After nearly a decade (and with the unlikely help of a One Tree Hill superfan), she finally managed to escape the family's grip and begin to heal from the deep trauma that forever altered her relationship with God and her understanding of faith. Written with powerful honesty and dark humor, Dinner for Vampires is an inspiring story about the importance of identity and understanding what you believe.
Bethany Joy Lenz, or simply Joy, known for her pivotal role as Haley James Scott on iconic and cult TV show One Tree Hill, tells in great detail how she spent the better part of a decade in a cult.
Having met what would become known as the Big Family and entering into their Bible study group and would later would be deep inside of their manipulative shell to the point that they stole more than $2 million from her.
Costars and friends on the show, as well as her own biological family, tried to help throughout the years, but it wasn't until other members of the family began to question their "fearless" leader that Joy began to see the truth as well. By this point, she was so isolated from her mother and father and their new spouses, and had married her husband, the son of the leader of the Family, and had given birth to her daughter Rosie.
After finally realizing what she had been a part of for so long, she worked diligently to ensure that she and her daughter were protected from the Family, and was eventually awarded full custody with only her ex-husband receiving visitation.
What Joy describes is absolutely heartbreaking. Hellbent on being accepted and being loved, she threw out all she had known in order to be a part of something bigger simply because she thought God wanted her too. Her love of God kept her from seeing the truth for so long.
I have watched OTH several times, and during filming, you'd never know the turmoil that this girl had gone through during that time. Her performance as Haley James Scott is wonderful, but reading about it is absolutely devastating and I am so glad that she was able to get out of that horrifying situation.
Kudos to you, Joy, for doing what you had to do, not only for yourself, but for your daughter as well. You did what any mother would have done, and I can tell you, as a fan, I not only loved hearing your story but I am also proud of you.

BNHA vampire soulmate scenario: When you first saw them.
The first time you saw him, he was feeding off someone.
TWs: Blood, death stalking and attempted assault.
-------------------------------
Mr. Compress: {Your Quirk: Card capture: it's similar to Mr. Compress's quirk but you can entrap people and objects in cards by manifesting these clear glass like cards that slip out from your wrist, you can use them as throwing weapons too as they're very sharp, the only drawback is that you can get severely dehydrated if you overuse it.]
You were walking home late from work just hungry and physically done! today was crap show! first you missed the train then half way to work you forgot you realized you forgot your lunch!, Your boss (who's usually pretty chill) for whatever reason decided he hated your guts today and yelled at you in front of everyone! and to rub salt on the wound you spilt hot coffee all over yourself! so now you arms and chest have burns on them that were itchy as hell! you just wanted to crawl into bed, and forget about this day.
You decided to cut through the park when you saw a odd pair, a man in a yellow trench coat and top-hat and mask which was pushed to the side kissing a woman in sundress under a streetlight. "huh, how sweet." you sighed exasperated before continuing on you way, when you noticed foot steps coming out behind you, you cautiously reached into your coat for one of your cards... you knew it wasn't the man in the top hat as you did a quick glance over your shoulder he was still  'occupied' you could smell stale alcohol in the air remembering the beware of mugger sign at the park entrance and figured out what was going on when the person was in grabbing range.
You whirled around grabbing your would be assailants arm forcing it up and pulling him towards you, you hissed  felt a sting on your cheek as your free hand slammed your card into his chest "release!" you barked as a powerful cyclone burst from the card sending the man flying off his feet *Thank-you Anko-san* you mentally cheer happy that your friend had a wind-quirk and let you capture it's effects in a card; said card then shattered as it was a one-shot use like all your offense cards.
The man wheezed as he was thrown to ground next to the "couple". while you took off running! not seeing Top-hat pull away from his lady friend and sniff the air.
Atsuhiro dropped the woman he was feeding on she slid limply to the ground as he readjusted his mask and followed that delicious scent and found a bloody knife on the ground *Could it be?!* his heart was beating abnormally faster as picked it up and sniffed it he lifted his mask up and licked the blood off the knife, Atsunhiro almost felt alive again as the sweet taste of his mate's blood touch his tongue...
He was so elated his mask was blushing! (cos anime logic!) "My Darling❣~" he purred in pure ecstasy, but soon his euphoria was cut short when he heard the man who attempted to rob you on the ground cough, the vampiric ex-magician turned in his direction, he could smell this uncultured brutes scent all over the knife mixing his mates.
Atsuhiro's primal urges were screaming at him to kill the man for harming his mate, however the ex-showman had something else in mind... The next morning you were watching the news on your laptop seeing the mugger at the park last night had been caught, and was being charged with murder for another woman. You felt your stomach churn as the photo of the woman who you saw making out with the top-hat man flashed on screen.
Than you felt a a chill go down your back!
You nervously looked away from your screen and scanned around the nearly empty café, there's was only you, an elderly couple wearing matching tracksuits enjoying some tea and having a conversation, a tired and obviously hungover mother and her two rowdy kids having breakfast, and lastly a man with black hair and copper eyes wearing a yellow casual suit and gray news boy cap reading a book.
You squint at the title....The magicians nephew, you frowned letting out a small hum; swearing you felt someone's eyes on you, thinking you were just paranoid from last night... you unconsciously traced the healing cut on your cheek and went back to you doing your work, not seeing the copper eyes of Atsuhiro watching you from behind his book with a knowing smirk.
-----------------------------
Dabi: You were walking home drunk to hell as your friends kept you out at the bars until 3am, you decided to take a detour home to get a late night snack/early breakfast at the 7/11 a few blocks from your place, as you were walking to the store you spied what looked a couple making out against the dumpster a few feet a ways, even in your drunken state you couldn't help but scrunched up your nose the sight. "at least take her to cheap motel buddy, jeez..." you muttered the man in the black hood growled back in retort as you entered the store.
While in the shop you frowned seeing you favorite snack was out of stock. "D-dammit." you huffed and looked around before spotting the clerk who was unpacking some packs of ramen. "Hey d'ya got any f/snack left?" you asked trying to keep from slurring your words. "Yeah there should be some packs over by the-" the clerk went to point but forgot they were holding a box cutter and accidentally jabbed you in the leg just under your knee. "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!" the clerk gasped while you tried waving them off, it was just an accident, but if it made them feel better you bought some band-aids and disinfectant along with your food the clerk felt soo bad they gave you discount and with that you walked out in to the night....
When you got out your leg was still bleeding it didn't really bother you as you too tipsy to care, besides it's just a tiny cut, as you were leaving you noticed the "couple" still going at it, however now it felt kind of off... and that's when you noticed the man in the black hood stiffen... you stomach felt like it was full of rocks as you watched him slowly turn to face you.
Dabi was busy draining this dumb bimbo who followed him out of the bar after he told her to piss off, but seeing as he hadn't fed on fresh human blood in months, (he was drinking blood-packs of pig's blood.) he decided screw it, she'll know the consequences her actions that is if he doesn't suck her dry.. "at least take her to cheap motel buddy, jeez..." a drunk woman muttered as she passed them Dabi let out a frustrated growl at that jab yet another reason he hates feeding in public, about ten minutes later the vampire's attention was suddenly pulled away from his dinner when a sweet enticing scent invaded his nose.
Dabi's eyes snapped open his senses were on fire as his inner monster snarled *mine.....mine...* his breathing became labored as he turned away from the woman's neck; her blood dripping down his chin as he turned to look over his shoulder, saw a [y/ht-wt] woman with [y/hc] and starring at him in shock, his eyes drifted down and saw the blood dribbling down her leg, he let go of the woman he was feeding on, she let out a weak wheeze as she fell limply to the ground not that he cared, Dabi took a step towards his mate reaching out to her, only for the woman to snap out of her shock and run....
Leaving the vampire standing there in an almost trance like state, before he looked inside the store could smell faint traces of her blood in the air and saw the clerk washing the bloody box cutter; A guttural growl escaped Dabi's throat as he approached the door.
The poor oblivious clerk didn't know what was coming as the door chimed telling them a customer had entered the store... "Welcome!" they greeted cheerfully. from an outside point of view there was hot flash of blue from inside the 7/11 followed by the store fire alarms going off.
The next morning you were hiding under your blanket hugging your knees your whole body was shaking while you were watching the news... there was a fire at the 7/11, the clerk was killed their remains were so badly burnt they were carbonized...
-----------------------
Bakugou: You had just started working for his agency as a secretary and were working on late paperwork one of your coworkers pushed on you so they could go on a date, you grumbled as you made your way to the elevator to drop the files off on Bakugou's desk, and were stunned to find the top floor was pitch black! you were trying the navigate in the darkness by feeling desk, when your hand brushed up against a pair of scissors someone left out you hissed feeling them cut your palm, you could feel the blood dripping down you hand and decided screw this! you were going to leave the papers on the desk outside of the boss's office for him to find in the morning, when you noticed the door was open a crack.
You could hear deep breathing, a woman gasping and grunts, your cheeks felt hot as you though Bakugou was getting frisky with one of his fans. *I never took him for that sort...* you were just going to pretend you didn't hear anything and walk away, but curiosity got the best of you, and with careful steps you crept toward the door and peeked in, and felt you stomach drop when you realized what was going on was not a wham-bam thank you ma'am situation, you threw your hand over your mouth when you saw Bakugou eyes glowing red had his fangs sunk into this woman's neck draining her of blood! Scared you were about to quietly back away from the door when you saw the blond blink pull away from the unconscious woman, sniff the air and... you ran before he could even turn his in the direction of the door, and made it on to the elevator just as a shock of blond hair rounded the corner.
The next morning Bakugou was on edge as he recalled the events last night, one minute he's feeding off some pushy fan-girl and the next, his senses were taken over by this amazing smell it was so enticing he forgot about his hunger and overwhelmed by the insistent need of find it's source... as Katsuki turned his attention to the door he saw someone dash and and he gave chase just in time to get a split second glimpse of a woman with {y/hc} before the elevator doors closed.
{later after he sent that fan home via cab)
Bakugou inspected his office and found a blood trail leading from random sidekick's towards his office the couple hurried drops towards the elevator, he curiously swiped his finger threw the blood on the desk where the trail began, licked it a content rumble left his throat, his inner monster purred. *Mate...mine* however that euphoric feeling he felt had soon soon worn off into frustration as the next morning rolled around he had been in the agency all day, and no one who came in today had that scent on them!
The blond was pissed and ready to rip someone's head off, when he overheard two of his employees talking. "Hey where’s Y/n? I have to thank her for staying back and doing my extra work last night." the other employee shrugged. "She said she hurt her hand last night and was staying home." Neither had noticed the explosive blond who immediately went to his office and pulled your file out for your address, and he here was standing on your front porch, sniffing the air as a cocky smirk graced Katsuki's lips breathing in that sweet scent from last night. "Found you..." he purred.

It’s Just a Movie: Part 5 (Poly!Lost Boys x Fem!Reader)

Warnings: cursing, the boys are assholes in this chapter

Before David could send Marko out for food, and before he could offer you the joint, you interrupted them. You had to tell them now, before you were high, before they played any tricks on you, and before David decided to make you their second course or to have you drink from the bottle. And, while they were all together. Telling them all of this once was going to be painful enough, and you didn't want to have to reexplain everything when Marko came back. So, you said rather quickly and nervously,
"I actually- I have to tell you guys something." David gave you a confused glance, his hand moving from your arm to the center of your back. It seemed that he was going to lead you towards the couch, to do whatever they had done in-between scenes of the movie. He arched a brow, and you knew that no matter how you said this it was going to sound crazy. But they were vampires, so, really, how bad could it be? That was the only way you could assure yourself as you started. "Y'know how I said I wasn't from here?" You said, and David stared at you like he wanted you to get to the point. Paul hopped off the fountain, just like he had in the movie, and passed David the joint.
"Yeah?" Paul said, turning as if he was going to head towards Marko. Before David could cloud his mind, you took it from his hand. Out of all of them, you were worried about David the most, and you didn't need him getting the munchies. You passed it back to Paul, and he gave you a weird look as he took another hit. David looked at you, giving you a small frown.
"Well, that's kind of an understatement." You said, and you grabbed Davids arm to start to pull him towards the couch. It was the most assertive you had been that night, and with David nonetheless? It caught the attention of the other three fairly quickly, and they hovered as you gently pulled him towards his wheelchair and said, "You're gonna wanna sit down for this. All of you." He seemed a little confused, and you guessed it was because how would you have guessed that this was his chair? Well, you knew that this was only the tip of the iceberg of things you knew about them. You glanced back at the others. Paul and Dwayne were standing atop of the fountain, hovering a few feet away while Marko let the pigeon he was holding leave his hands. They seemed to sense your change in mood, or perhaps they were wary because you were telling David of all people what to do. After a moment, the two tallest of the bunch jumped off the fountain and Marko strolled over. Paul, seeming to try to keep the mood light, laughed and said,
"What, you gonna tell us you're a martian or something?" He asked, and you laughed faintly. Honestly, he wasn't far off. Paul sat on a chunk of wall, while Dwayne chose to sit on the couch. Marko stood behind David, and, finally, David settled in his chair. You almost thought about sitting on the fountain, but the similarity to the bottle scene freaked you out too much. You decided to stand, and you tried to say this in the least crazy way you could.
"Uh, no. I'm- God, how do I put this?" You said, running a frustrated hand through your hair. It sounded ridiculous even in your own head. And, it wasn't like you'd gotten much time to adjust to the situation. You started with what you knew. "Where I'm from- all of this, all of you," You said, gesturing around the cave, "Is apart of a movie. The Lost Boys." You said, putting air-quotes around the title. The boys were staring at you, and Paul almost looked like he wanted to laugh. Marko stared, almost squinting his eyes. It seemed like he was trying to see if you were lying, but you couldn't really tell. Dwayne was too far away for you to read his face, but it wasn't like you'd be able to anyways. And David? His usual grin and chatter completely disappeared. You continued before you could completely become a bundle of nerves. "It came out in 1987, and me and my friends went to see it at our local theater for halloween. But when I came out...Well, I was here. In Santa Carla." The silence that followed made you deathly afraid of what they were going to do next, and then Marko scoffed.
"Yeah, right." He said, and, after a beat, Paul was snickering. He pointed at you, a wide grin on his face.
"Y'know, for a second, you had me going there. Are you strung out or something?" Paul said, and you scrambled for a semblance of proof. You needed something solid- something not from their time. You were quick to fumble into your pocket and pull out something definitely not found in the eighties.
"I can prove it! Look!" You said, and you quickly opened your phone. You didn't see it, but the boys face switched back to either confusion or interest. You went to your screenshots, after adjusting your brightness, showing them the barcode and the movie title from your online ticket. There, in a little picture above the barcode and next to the movie title was the classic movie poster.
While the blondes were in the far back and definitely too far to see, David was not. He was the dead center next to the giant image of Michael. His spiky blonde hair and piercing eyes were unmistakable, even with how small the picture was. David silently reached out to take the device from your hand. He looked at your phone, and then scoffed and shook his head.
"What is this even supposed to be?" He asked, laughing as he showed your phone to the others. They weren't even looking at the picture, and were instead taking turns investigating your phone. They seem particularly interested, and bewildered, by the little rectangle. You supposed they would be, as the smart phone wouldn't be coming out until the turn of the century. You let out a groan of frustration, and you tried to snatch it back. But Marko, who had been holding it next, held it out of your reach. He gave you a wide smile as he did so, and the situation reminded you far too much of the phonebooth. Only, he didn't give it back a second later this time.
"That's- that's my phone. You're supposed to look at the picture- that's my ticket to the movie-" You said, trying desperately to explain. You knew it sounded crazy, and that it would take some difficulty to explain. But it wasn't like they were making it particularly easy on you.
"Movie ticket? Honey, whatever that is, it isn't a movie ticket." Paul laughed, and suddenly you wanted to strangle all of them. You knew, of course, that to them this wasn't anything close. Movie tickets still probably came in stubs or something. Now, you understood why Michael had actually punched David. You didn't know if they were doing it on purpose or not, but those boys could be infuriating when they wanted to be.
"Good job picking someone crazy, Paul." Marko said, and the insult, while not directed at you, still riled you up. You weren't crazy, and this wasn't a joke. His statement made more than one thing clear. They not only thought all of this was bullshit, but they had definitely planned on eating you tonight. And that Paul had been the one to pick you out. It made you sick. But it also made you even more certain that you had to convince them. Paul was quick to defend himself by saying,
"Hey, David said to pick someone hot and I did. How was I supposed to know-" But you quickly drowned him out. It seems the movie ticket wasn't going to be enough proof, so you pulled out your wallet instead. You took out your license, and practically shoved it in Davids face.
"Read my birth year. Read the expiration date. I'm from the year 2020, you assholes." You said, but the boys were barely paying attention. Your claim only made Paul crack up, and Marko didn't help by adding,
"Oh, so you're a time traveler now? Bullshit, stick to a story." He said, and Paul only erupted in another fit of laughter. It didn't help that Dwayne and David had started chuckling along, even when the proof was right in his face. And it especially didn't help when David said,
"Nice picture." And made the boys behind him utterly explode. Suddenly, you understood Michael more than ever. Being surrounded by four friends, laughing at you? This was your maggot scene, you realized. You were clearly alarmed and distressed, and yet? They were just laughing. And just like in the movie, once they all calmed down a bit David said, "Sorry about that. No hard feelings, hm?" But all you could do was stare at them as his grin remained on his face. You were embarrassed and infuriated beyond belief. You ran a hand through your hair, letting out a humorless laugh. They were going to kill you. You had landed in the Lost Boys universe and your four favorite vampires were going to kill you. You couldn't stop the laughs that escaped your mouth, even as the other boys quieted down completely. You could feel tears prickling the corners of your eyes as the realization washed over you. And you couldn't stop yourself from saying,
"You know what? This is really funny. Yeah, especially coming from you guys." You turned away from them. You couldn't stand to look at them, not when you were sure that you were going to start to cry. You took a few steps away, another empty laugh leaving your lips as you shook your head. "A bunch of fucking vampires, laughing at me for being from a different dimension. Yeah, this is so fucking-"
"What did you just say?"

Yeah that’s why I was worried since both of the main guys bite Yuki without an actual warning and it kind makes me bad for liking the manga I do not know if I am just over thinking this.. but another question have you read Hino’s other mangas ? I’ve never read anything besides VK ( only a manga about a wolf or something I really don’t remember it ) when I did a search to see her other works I always see people telling how bad her story telling is, do you think it’s really bad in ur opinion ?
Sorry for answering late...I just noticed your ask! 💖
About the first part even though those bites were without asking and like I established that it was some kind of harassment but you can reason behind them...(and I just remembered that Kaname asked Yuuki if she wanted to become a vampire and she answered yes so there was consent maybe... I mean Yuuki agreed just the timing was later... I don't know if this counts as consent or not)
So actually I read all of Hino's manga which is available in English...sadly I couldn't find her debut manga, but I will tell about the other stories shortly and what I didn't liked in them...
I don't know the chronological order of her stories so I go from one-shots to longer series:
Overall I think her one-shots are relatively good - but you can't do anything bad in ca. 30 pages
Haru wa Sakura - historical Japanese setting, a young woman wants to be a female doctor which was impossible in that time and meets a rude man at the bookstore...I think if I tell you more I will tell the entire story I think it was okay like 3.5/5
Yoshihime to Ushio - it's about a princess who gets saved by a rough looking but kind man... I think it was really heartfelt 4/5
Watashi no Fukigen no Panya-san - it's about a young woman remembers her childhood and the bakery she often visited ... This is also a really sweet story 4/5
Now come the longer stories
Wanted - Medieval settings - a young girls' young male friend gets kidnapped by pirates. Years later she cross-dresses to get on that pirate ship to find out her friend (love) become the pirate Captain and their adventures...I find this story cute but I think it has an open ending and its usual Hino style rom-com 3.9/4
Toraware no Minoue - a butler and his son become new rich because the family they were working to disappear - one day the family's young daughter found her way to home and then cames the twist. The young boy - the butler's son - falls in love with her because of the curse. So usual asking your own feelings and adventures together in Hino-style...I think this was okayish but I read only once 3/5
MeruPuri (Märchen Prince) - this is in my opinion Hino's 2nd well-known work (she wrote this before VK) - there's a typical girl - going high school, lives alone and wishing to get married, but one time she losts her mirror and that afternoon a young child brings it to her - the boy tells her he's a prince and he came out of the mirror - as any reasonable person she didn't believe in him - but still gives him a place to stay - but when she wakes up he finds a 16 boy instead of the young child of yesterday - then curses, prophecies, magic, adventures and a usual rom-com with an forgettable 2nd or 3rd male lead... It was once readable I think I started a 2nd time but didn't finish 3.8/5
Shuriken to Pleats - this is what she wrote in-between VK and VKM - the story about a young female ninja whose master got killed and to his last wish she starts a normal highschool life in Japan but she can't really escape her past so she also starts working as a ninja part time - even though she doesn't wants to - so it's about her trying to fit in the new situation, her job with a new employer, and she's finding out secrets ... Some people thinks this is AU YuMe ... I'm not sure it looks like the main girl is a little bit different than Yuuki but they look similar 4.8/5
Conclusion: Hino likes their male lead possessive, leading the relationship and sometimes wild and she likes her female leads innocent (especially in love), naïve (about the world), ignorant (to the fact that one or more people in love with them). Honestly you can see a switch in her style before and after VK just compare MeruPuri to Shuriken to Pleats not just the art style but the emotional side of the story all those before VK were rom-coms now there are emotional scars, struggles and pain, sadness - and a man who thinks it's better if he leaves the female leads life.
About your question that other works are badly written they were okay if you go that deep with the works as the fandom did with VK you would find problems but overall they're okayish except Shuriken to Pleats it also had some problems but overall I liked that one.
If you read all of these thanks for reading, if you have other opinions please write about them in the comments or anywhere you wish

is it okay if you do one about the reader who is 13-14 going with Bella to save Edward and when Alec see's her, he realizes that she's his mate and tries talking to her and her being scared but after sometime they have a sweet bf/gf relationship? Thank you, and your writing is awesome, sorry if I bothered you
Hey hi hello, you most certainly have not bothered me at all 😊 You’re very sweet and I’m glad you enjoy my writing, I hope you like this piece just as much as the others!
Just as a wee reminder to yourself and others who wish to request anything Alec related from me, when I write for Alec, I do tend to write him as the 13-14 year old book version. The only time I age up Alec and Jane to the 16+ year old movie version is if I receive an NSFW request for them. I am still figuring out what I’m comfortable writing in terms of the level of explicitness, so while I figure out what sort of NSFW requests I will and won’t take please be patient and don’t be rude about it if you send me something I don’t think I can deliver, there’s plenty of other really incredibly writers out there I’ll happily link you to if I don’t think I can provide what you want.
For now, have this fluffy little piece.
Forever Yours:
Words: 5416 (oopsie)  Warnings: There is some description of injuries later on and a lot of descriptions of fear and distress in the first half of this fic.
Alec was not one to dwell on things he didn’t find interesting. In his human life he had been pigeon-holed into farming, the manual labour something that would support his family and one of the few occupations he could actually get training for, since it meant sending him into a field and leaving him there to work alone most of the time. His village was not a welcoming place to people like him and Jane, and despite his vocation to be a blacksmith his dreams were shelved in order to provide for his mother and sister. The end result was an insatiably curious young teen desperate to break free of the tedious field work and explore what else the world had to offer him, a trait that had only been solidified by his transformation.
Currently he found himself fascinated by the readings surrounding physical Geography, the formation of the world brought to the forefront of his mind after passing through a village that had suffered an Earthquake on a mission not a month earlier, and studying such things was how he spent the majority of his evenings now. Then in the Cullen boy came, bedraggled and smelling like three week old garbage he was pleading for the end of an existence far greater than his human one could have ever been, and Alec’s mind was set whirring into motion once more.
He couldn’t begin to fathom the mind-readers motives for wanting to end his immortal life, not when it had offered Alec so much. Over the course of centuries, he had accrued wealth and knowledge, prestige, and authority that the boys in his village could only ever dream of given the circumstances they were born into. Immortality offered an eternity to pursue what interested you without the disruption of sickness, or fear of being left out of doing what you love due to injury; Alec never have to worry about being unable to train because he’d sprained his ankle after all.
No, no it was simply incomprehensible as to why the Cullen boy would throw away his immortal existence so readily, and when the reason why was finally revealed to them it only left Alec all the more baffled. A human? He wished to end his life because a human had done the same? Humans died everyday in droves, most of them tripping over their own feet and into their graves. They were weak, fragile, dim-witted enough that most actually deserved the cattle-like status his predatory nature accredited them. For Edward to willingly choose one as his mate had been foolish from the start and Alec had to wonder if this wasn’t some sort of cosmic ‘I told you so’. Surely a human couldn’t be the true mate of a vampire? Alec had never pondered over the mating bond before but as Demetri and Felix silently followed after the boy to see to it he did nothing foolish, he began to wonder about the nature of such bonds.
Aro and Caius had both turned their mates, as had Chelsea. They had all felt some form of affection for their mates as humans but had the bond solidified before or after their transformation? Were the red strings of fate he’d read about in varying fantasy novels real to some extent? Venom hardening them to form the strong bonds that allowed vampires to mate for life? He couldn’t imagine ever loving anyone to the point that Marcus had, where they became the only thing his world revolved around and left it collapsing once they were gone. Humans surely weren’t capable of loving anyone with that kind of depth, were they? Not with their flawed design.
“Dear Jane, please go and see what’s taking them so long?” Aro requested. Jane gave him a sugar sweet smile in response, kissed Alec’s cheek and floated gracefully down the steps and towards the door. Alec watched her go before returning to his thoughts, the conundrum still fresh in his mind, but Aro did not let him remain there, a drawn out sigh escaping him as he steepled his fingers to rest his chin on his hands.
“Something bothers you, Master?” he asked, tilting his head. Maybe he was having similar thoughts and they could brainstorm together. Aro stared at the doors ahead of them, his expression completely impassive. Alec was treated with the deference his gift and status demanded but out of them two of them, he knew Jane would always be the favourite, and he was okay with that. He would serve loyally as long as he lived, grateful for all the Masters’ had given him, but he did not need to be valued in the way Jane did.
“I hope Edward does nothing foolish. He would be a great asset to our little household.” Aro responded. Alec kept his face impassive, mind immediately turning now to the tactical advantage telepathy could offer. Edward’s gift was indeed powerful in its own way, to hear over great distances would compliment Demetri’s tracking ability well and override Felix’s tendency to impulsively use his brute strength without identifying priority targets first…
“Undoubtedly.” Alec agreed. Aro chuckled slightly.
“Your mind is preoccupied Alec, perhaps you ought focus it?” he suggested lightly. Alec forced back an eye roll, inclining his head to indicate he had heard him before stepping down from his place beside his throne. He retraced his sister’s footsteps, following the main hall along until he reached the secretary’s desk. Gianna glanced up, standing to greet him with the professionally polite smile she was obliged to give him, even though her heart was thundering in her chest.
“Have the others returned yet?” he questioned. Gianna shook her head.
“No Alec, they have yet to come back this way.” She answered. Alec hummed thoughtfully, engaging his senses and straining his ears to listen to the stumbling footsteps approaching. There were the usual graceful taps of his sister’s dainty steps, the tell-tale smoothness of vampires moving along stone, but the clumsy thudding that followed was definitely human in origin. What cause did they have to bring humans back into their home? That was Heidi’s job after all, and she would be returning home soon enough to slake their thirst.
“But Bella I don’t-“
“Just…not now.”
Bella? Isabella? The human mate? Now that perked his interest. Alec watched with keen eyes as the doors slid open to reveal his siter first, and a brigade of people behind her. Felix and Demetri brought up the rear as Gianna greeted Jane with the same professional courtesy she had him, the golden-eyed Cullen’s following along behind her. The two humans they had brought with them were corralled between them. One clung to Edward like a barnacle to the underside of a ship, spindly arms thrown around him despite her chattering teeth and goosebump riddled flesh. She was quite ordinary in appearance, plain even, yet the way Edward stood made it abundantly clear that this human was something extraordinary to him, something he would protect. The other was...oh how to describe her?
She captivated him almost immediately, Alec unable to take his eyes off of her approach. Was she always that pale or had the situation leeched the colour from her face? Was she always so wide-eyed or was it fear that had blown those (Y/E/C) irises wide open? She was smaller in stature than the other, yet similar enough looks wise it was clear they were siblings, one older one younger. She was perhaps his physical age with all the wide-eyed innocence that entailed, gangly limbs she hadn’t really grown into yet carrying her along with a bit of encouragement from Felix’s proximity, and the Cullen woman’s guiding hand.
“Sister, they send you out for one and you bring back three, such a clever girl.” He teased, Jane’s scent invading his nose and helping refocus his mind. Her eyes rolled, but she still embraced him as she always did with a trill of laughter to boot.
“They made it all to easy.” She responded. Alec could see the malice in his sister’s eyes and guessed that she was not appreciative of having to wait for the humans. It irked him more than it should, that the young girl had potentially unintentionally incurred his sister’s wrath, the mere notion that perhaps Jane’s thoughts of her were less than savoury something that made every protective instinct he had ever had for his sister flare and extend to this stranger.
“Edward, you seem in a markedly better mood.” He said, hoping to distract himself from the sudden, unnerving discovery.
“Marginally.” the mind-reader agreed, though his voice was blunt and cutting. Clearly Edward was not in the mood to talk.
“But Alice I still don’t know-“
“Shhh Y/N, not now.” Alice Cullen, the seer that Aro had raved about from the moment he had learned of her existence. Alec should have been interested in her, should have been evaluating her as a threat and a potential ally, but his mind had been thoroughly distracted by the small human once more. Y/N…it was a good name, a name that felt pleasant in his ears and rolled easily off of the tongue.
“But Alice-“ the urgency in her voice tore at his heart and Alec had the strange urge to comfort her. Did she truly know nothing? If she knew nothing of their kind she had broken no law and there was no reason to put her through any of this, it was unnecessary suffering.
“Is this the cause of all the trouble?” he asked, unable to keep the scepticism from his voice as he took in her unremarkable sibling. Isabella seemed to shiver under his stare (much to his amusement) though it was the younger girl whose reaction he was more interested in. Her head turned his way, (Y/C/H) hair swishing with the movement as wide (Y/C/E) eyes latched onto his own and refused to let go. The scent that was wafted up his nose was almost unbearably tantalising, the controlled burn in his throat flaring to a raging inferno that he almost choked on for a moment before he caught himself. Edward’s stare was penetrating, Alice Cullen tightening her grip on the young girl in her care in case he made a move. He swallowed back the fire but there was no hiding the way his eyes had melted to black, and the sweet tinge of fear in her already too appealing smell only made him want to give into his urges all the more.
He hadn’t realised he’d taken a step towards her until she flinched back from him, and for the first time in a long time Alec felt genuine pain. The fear on her face was obvious, the rampant thudding in her chest tangible proof that she was terrified, and he didn’t like it. He didn’t like it and he didn’t like that he didn’t like it because she was just human, flawed and breakable and pathetic so why oh why did it pain him so to see the tears gathering in the corners of her eyes?
“Y-your eyes…they just – your eyes just…Bella what did you get me into?” her voice wavered and something inside him just snapped. For once, Alec didn’t feel the apathy that came with taking a life seen as less valuable than his own, he didn’t take any sort of joy in watching her be afraid of his advance. He couldn’t deny it, not when the feeling was so deeply rooted and burned so fiercely, like a flower that been laid dormant beneath the Earth suddenly bursting from the soil to bloom brightly. He was protective of this human he barely knew, and it was terrifying to feel so connected to someone he had never met before.
“I mean you no harm, I give you my word.” The promise had escaped him before he had really thought it through and he was well aware he could not keep such a promise, but she didn’t care to hear it anyway, cringing even more into Alice since Bella seemed to refuse her in that moment. It only made him angrier. He was angry with himself for suddenly losing the emotional control he had gained over a long millennium of living, angry that he was making promises he couldn’t keep, and he was angry at the stares he was receiving from those he would call friend. Jane looked the most outwardly shocked before she quickly covered, but the one person he would have hoped would react positively just didn’t. Y/N was too afraid to see sense, and he supposed given the pie-crust promise he’d just made that might be a good thing, even if it hurt. He was angry to that her sister ignored her obvious need for comfort.
He let his sister take the lead as they headed back to the throne room, trying to fight through the sudden swell of confusing emotion and sensory information. His nose seemed attuned to her scent, suspiciously close to his favourite smells of lemongrass and gooseberry, his eyes magnetised to her form to the point he turned his head to glance back at her so frequently that Demetri felt the need to motion for him to keep his head turned forward. Humans radiated heat anyway but she felt scorching, a mini-sun whose tendrils reached out and left warmth lashing down his spine. His ears were full of her heartbeat. She was so thoroughly distracting he could barely take his eyes off of her after he had taken his place by Caius, the blonde man staring with such distaste at the both of them that Alec felt a strong urge to step between them and absorb the glare himself.
He could only half pay attention as the conversation unfolded around him, because Y/N wouldn’t stop looking at him like he was the devil incarnate and it bothered him immensely. He had dealt with it his whole life, a social pariah for his links to witchcraft and someone whose gift left him with few friends since they feared the authority it gave him. He had handled it then, and he handled it now, he could deal with other people looking at him like that but not her, anyone but her.
“Alec!” Jane hissed his name and Alec snapped to attention, mist unfolding from his palms so he was ready to take down any threat that came at him. Demetri snickered loudly enough it reached his ears and Alec’s glare was so deadly it drew a soft whimper from her. He almost groaned. Could he do no right by her? Y/N had started trembling a while ago but now there were full body shakes wracking her from head to foot, her teeth grinding together so loudly he worried the teeth might snap under the strain she was putting on them. Aro’s laughter clattered through his head and he turned to face him, at a loss as to what to do for once. He didn’t honestly think that he could hurt the girl if asked.
“My dear boy it would seem you are quite distracted by young Miss Swan. Oh to be young and in love once more!” he tittered. Alec froze, every muscle locking in place as the distinct feeling of distress rose through the confusion and anger and pain he’d been desperately trying to wade through. Love? He definitely did not love the girl, it was mere curiosity and nothing else, the same curiosity he applied to his studies.
“Love?” Jane’s voice was equally as harsh and Aro seemed surprised by her reaction. Alec was not. For centuries they had had only each other, the centre of a small world where they seldomly let others join them. The very notion another might be welcomed into his heart would be not just repulsive, but very troubling for her.
“Why, don’t tell me you cannot see it? Already the bond between them has set, the thread connecting them tied at both ends. Are you not happy for your twin to have found such a rare and beautiful thing?” Aro wondered. As if Aro had perhaps waved a magic wand his mind settled. His brain had tried to fight what his body already knew, his subconcious screaming the word while his rational mind raced a million miles ahead to try and outrun the answer until it could run no more, and the two collided. The aftermath of the explosion was calm, almost wonderous, for he would finally get the chance to study something he had never studied before.
“You’re my mate.” He breathed. Even he could hear the awe in his voice, though nobody but him seemed to find it wonderful. Jane hissed, both Cullen’s tensing up while Bella recoiled from her sister like she was diseased, and Y/N…Y/N just cried. Alec’s world ground to a halt, the pain his mate spilling out and into him. He descended the stairs with every intention of stopping her tears, hoping to calm her perhaps and explain exactly what it meant to be mates, but Y/N didn’t let Bella refuse her this time and sought refuge in her sister, sobbing all the while.
“Wh-what did you do! Why d-did you bring me h-here? I d-don’t want to st-stay with him!”
The words were a hard blow, they struck him in the gut and it was the closest he’d felt to nauseous in centuries.
“I have no desire to keep you here, but if you would please-“
“Leave me alone! I w-want to go home!” she cried, not so much as turning to look at him. If he hadn’t been a vampire he would probably have missed all of the muffled words she heaved into her sisters shoulder.
“You can still go home yet-“ he had paid enough attention to know Bella was not being executed at least and as his mate Y/N was exempt of that fate to, “-all I would like is a chance to talk.” Alec’s plea fell on deaf ears, his hand shrugged off of her shoulder.
“No!”
Alec straightened, wiping his face of any and all expression, he didn’t so much as give any of them a farewell before he left the room. The sudden rejection stung worse than the fire that had once burned his flesh from his bones, and the hollow that opened in his gut grew wider and wider with every moment that passed since the second he’d left her. He put down his books, spending his nights envisioning her tear-stained face and wondering what would have made her smile instead. He craved to know every like and dislike, to hear her voice when she wasn’t consumed with horror and fear, to learn more about her life and contrast it with his own. They had all tried to talk him round in the intervening months, but Alec couldn’t find the strength to drag himself out of the numbness that had enveloped him. Not until Marcus came by to see him anyway.
“What do you require of me, Master?” he asked, staring aimlessly out of the window at the Garden’s below. Marcus seated himself at the desk across the room, the one littered with books Alec hadn’t had the heart to open since the fateful day his mate had left him.
“Didyme was not immediately drawn to me either.” He rasped. Alec’s head whipped around at that, the shock on his face obvious. Marcus had been nothing but a shell in all the time he had known him, grieving a lost love so profound Alec was sure that their story must have been the greatest romance ever known. To hear Didyme had not readily accepted him was both astounding and…it gave him hope.
“She didn’t?” he hedged. Marcus glanced to him, a wisp of smile floating from his lips before his expression fell flat again.
“She was a headstrong woman, and for a while she resented Aro for what he did to her, to me. She could not revel in her new state as we did, this world was so different from the one she had known…it took time for her to adjust before she truly opened her heart to me.” His words were like a soothing balm on the raw wound her rejection had left behind.
“I might find it more encouraging if I was sure I might yet see her again.” Alec frowned slightly as Marcus pushed to his feet.
“There will be opportunity enough to visit her yet, you might yet be surprised.” He answered, floating from the room like dust on the wind. Alec stared at the door, his mind mulling over the cryptic message before the briefest hint of a smile twitched his lips upward. Hope was a beautiful thing, and it only grew in his chest as Aro deployed them to Seattle not a day later to deal with a mess created by a gaggle of newborns. When stressed, vampires did not fidget but rather became motionless and immobile, but while he sat rigid as stone in his seat for the flight over his mind became restless. Where would he find her in this city? If Marcus’s cryptic message had been for him then surely he knew he would find Y/N here? Demetri’s hand on his arm made him pause before he stepped off of the jet.
“She’s in the city Alec, if you need a guide.” His voice was low enough nobody but him would hear him. Alec fully planned to take him up on the offer once their work for the night was done, it wasn’t often the tracker was rendered unnecessary, but Alec didn’t need Demetri’s gift to know when he had found her.
Her sobbing was ingrained in his memory after all.
The rage that built in him was blinding, his body unable to move fast enough to put himself between Y/N and the newborns dragging her mangled body from the wreckage of a car they had flipped. All around him was the screaming and snarling of newborns, the metallic screech of hardened skin coming apart as they put an end to the atrocity. His mist had exploded outward, rippling in every direction and he had only just enough sense of mind to ensure it didn’t harm his coven mates as he tore apart the newborns who had dared lay a hand on his mate. Chest heaving and throat blazing, Alec felt the blood on the ground soak his trousers as he collapsed beside her. She was screaming, body contorting in awful ways as her face turned red, veins popping in her neck as it strained. Alec placed a cool hand shakily on her forehead, beyond furious with the grotesque bitemark marring her shoulder.
“What were you thinking brother! Now that we have destroyed this group we – we…oh…oh Alec…” the rage that simmered in Jane’s voice very quickly dissipated when she saw the state he was in. His head was swimming, the appealing scent of blood hanging heavy in the air while his gut twisted and fury and terror raged war in his heart. She was turning, there was no doubt about it, the venom was leaking out of the wound with her blood. She was turning and it wasn’t his venom.
“I – I can take away the pain.” He stammered. He had wanted someone to do that for him when he burned. It was the greatest act of mercy he could think of, perhaps the greatest way for him to show his love for a girl he barely knew but wanted to oh so badly.
“You will starve yourself before she completes the transformation. There is hardly enough venom in that bite Alec.” Felix pointed out. Y/N let out another tortured shriek, body twisting. He heard the broken bones in her legs crunching at the movement and said a silent prayer to thank whatever deity was watching over her that the venom was excruciating enough she wouldn’t have to feel broken bones on top of it.
“So what do I do? Leave her like this? She’s in agony!” he snapped, “She’s in agony and I can end it!”
“It is a natural thing brother.” Jane said quietly.
“But it does not have to be endured forever.” Demetri weighed in finally, “Give her some more Alec, shorten the process and if you find yourself unable to stop…well, we will stop you.” Alec could only give her an anguished stare, loathe to cause her anymore pain but knowing Demetri was right. The longer the change dragged on for the less likely it was she would survive, but if he bit her again, gave her more of his venom to override what little was already diffusing through her blood, it would shorten the process considerably. He could already feel the acidic liquid pooling in his mouth and he hoped she could see just how apologetic he was, though he didn’t think it likely given how her eyes had rolled back into her head as she convulsed with a shout.
“Stop me Jane, forget our oath this one time and do whatever it takes to stop me.” He demanded. Jane looked horrified by the very thought but Alec didn’t wait for her to consent to his plea, cradling Y/N close and closing his eyes as he bared his teeth, ready to bite into the buttersoft sinews of her throat…
Tumblr media
“What are you thinking about so hard?” her voice was melodic in his ears, a symphony he never grew tired of. Startled from his reverie, Alec had to pause a moment to gather his thoughts and remind himself where he was. Volterra was bathed in sunshine once more and his skin refracted it beautifully against the walls of the garden, the book in his lap long since discarded as his mind began to wonder. It had been a while, since he’d recalled that fateful night.
“You’re back,” he noted with a small smile, “I was thinking about you of course, as I always do when you’re not around.” Her smile could have lit up New York city, and Alec adored it. Y/N hadn’t been happy upon waking up in Volterra, Alec by her side as he quietly explained she had been made immortal in desperate circumstances. It had taken her many months to get over the traumatic incident but since she had started to bounce back to her old self, Alec had discovered a rather beautiful, happy person he really rather liked. Since she had been forced to spend so much time with him, letting him coach her in the new way of life she had to adopt, she had taken quite a liking to him to it seemed.
“You should be proud of me, I got to the nomad before Demetri so we all got to come home sooner. You should have seen his face!” She giggled. Alec couldn’t help but smirk, smug and proud as he pulled her down to rest between his legs, back pressed flush to his chest. Her scent dragged him under, a tranquil wave settling those restless parts of him that recognised how incomplete he felt without her around. He buried his nose in her hair to take a deep lungful of the addictive smell.
“I’m always proud of you.” He promised softly.
“Have you just been reading all the time we’ve been gone?” she wondered. Alec hummed, picking up the book he had discarded and reopening to the page he was on.
“It was the one you recommended to me. I’ve just gotten to the chapter where Sephy realises Callum is one of her kidnappers.” He revealed, and without hesitation he dropped his cheek atop her hair and began to read aloud. She melted into him, her hands mindlessly reaching for the ground every now and then while Alec focused his energy on his book, the peaceful atmosphere remaining unbroken for a chapter more before she shifted. He relinquished her immediately, knowing his mate was never one to stay still for too long, only to be surprised when she turned on her knees with a ring of daisies in her hand. Alec raised an eyebrow and she grinned.
“I hereby declare you King Alec of Castle Volterra!” she announced. The daisy crown was placed daintly atop his head, only to fall and get stuck on the bridge of his nose. Too big to be a crown but too small to be a necklace. Her face fell into a pout as Alec began to laugh, very gently rearranging the daisies so they rested at an angle and were slightly weighted down by some of his brunette hair.
“I, King Alec, declare I cannot rule without you, Queen Y/N,” he proclaimed, offering her his hand. She giggled as he pushed to his feet, pulling her with him. She was forever going to be shorter than him, just a little, and he loved that. “Now, as our first royal duty, that dye you ordered came. I decree it’s time to give our guard matching uniforms!” He was bolstered by her obvious enthusiasm, crimson eyes sparkling.
“It came? The neon green one?” she asked eagerly. Alec nodded, unable to keep his laughter at bay as she bounced up and kissed him so quickly she almost broke his teeth with the speed she moved at. He didn’t get to voice his protest because she was already dragging him by the hand back towards the castle. Before he had met her, schemes like this would have made his nose turn up in distaste. How childish these endeavours were, how wasteful of their time. Y/N had changed his perspective on a great many things, and it was rather nice now and then to give into the childish ways his physical age demanded he give in to every now and then, he had gotten so good at repressing those throughout the centuries but she seemed to bring out the playful side of him. If anything had managed to convince Jane she was a good addition to their family, it was tallying how much more Alec had smiled since she came into his life to stay.
“I can pilfer the shirts, they’re far less likely to suspect I am up to any wrong doing than if they smell you in their rooms.” Alec pointed out in hushed tones. She nodded, her head tilted up as they walked close together, co-conspirators to anyone looking in.
“Okay, you steal the shirts while I mix the-“
“Mix the what, exactly?” Demetri’s voice came from behind them and with wide eyes Y/N yelled ‘Scatter!’ before the tracker had the chance to grab either of them by the collar. Alec bolted after her down the corridor, just ever so slightly lagging behind her since she still had her newborn strength and speed. She grabbed his wrist without warning and Alec felt Demetri’s hand swipe right through his head before she tugged him straight through a wall and they began to freefall into the courtyard below. Demetri was cursing up a storm inside, her gift having turned them both immaterial long enough to allow them to pass through the walls in a way he couldn’t. Collapsing in a fit of boisterous laughter the pair lingered in the sunlight, eyes bright and smiles wide. For a moment, anyone passing them by might have forgotten their glittering skin and vibrant red eyes, mistaking them for two normal teens experiencing the euphoria of puppy love.
“Did you see his face!” she gasped. Alec could only smile at her, hand reaching to tuck a lock of stray hair behind her ear so he could have an unobstructed view of her face. Her smile faded slightly, expression growing more sheepish instead.
“I was too busy looking at yours. I think I would like to spend every day I have looking at your face over his. I love you Y/N, at least, I think this is what love feels like.” His brows furrowed, the confession falling from his tongue without his permission. He wondered if perhaps it was too soon, too big a word to label the affection they held for one another, but seeing the way her face lit up told him otherwise.
“Pinky swear it, Alec. If you don’t pinky swear it’s not real.” She said, holding out her hand. Alec rolled his eyes but looped his pinky through hers, cementing his promise with all the binding legality the pinky swear had to offer.
“I swear it Y/N. I’m forever yours.”

New chapter new analysis
I’m publishing it one more time because it didnt show in tags for some reason???
I put it under “read more” so maybe now.
I finally read translation so I can finally write something about the new chapter. I know people’s strong feelings towards it and I think it’s totally understandable huh
I, personally, liked this chapter even if I think it was creepy as fuck. But I know Jun’s work and how she writes her stories and I know that she purposely made it really uncomfortable. I think this chapter was made to be upsetting because what happened during it was kinda important?
Warning; LONG POST (contains spoilers to new chapter)
First thing - Noe was forced to see some Vanitas’s memories. Of course by Misha eyes, but still it’s Vanis past. And as we know already, Vanitas REALLY didn’t want Noe to know about anything his past-related. He even threated him that he would kill you if Noe would someday try to drink his blood. So it’s opening for totally new conflict. We have two options
Vanitas would come to place and see Noe drinking Mishas blood and it would be horrible
Vanitas wouldn’t see it and Noe would live in sting of remorse and we know how emotional Noe is and it would be also horrible. And this option also has 2 options
Noe would finally tell Vani that he drank Mishas blood and it would be horrible
Misha would tell Vanitas that Noe drank his blood and it also would be horrible
When Noe started drinking Mishas blood he walked into a trap and there is no escape now. Vanitas is going to KNOW this and its going to be a problem, because knowing Vanis past, memories and emotions was a borderline in their relationship - Noe didn’t get a permission to step over it. And now he just... steped, because of Mishas blackmail.
Also the whole scene was made to be creepy - we can clearly see that Noe is distraught and scared and uncomfortable. We can hear his thoughts, we can see his terrified face
Tumblr media
He is terrified for A LOT of reasons. A lot.
He is scared of Domis life. He don’t know what is going on with her and she is unconscious and she can literally DIE. Domi is his best friend, his childhood friend and nearly all family he has left. Domi is the closest person to him and he can’t just lose her like he lost Louis.
He DON’T WANT to read Vanitas’s past without his permission and knowledge. Its awful, it’s non consensual and non-con it’s something Noe hates, because, even if he would like to know Vani’s past (what he said back before Gevaudan arc) he don’t want to know it without Vanis consenst and he didn’t push. And now he is forced to see them, to betray Vani’s trust. He, probably, hates himself thanks to it.
He is blackmailed, bullied and intimidated which is bad on it’s own. He has absolutely NO CONTROL over a situation, he is absolutely subordinated and can’t do anything to change his situation. It’s scary.
He is forced to drink blood, which is a really intimate and delicate activity for him. He hates being forced to drink blood and forcing to drink blood, and, additionaly, Misha is a kid. Or, at least, he look like a kid (it’s hard to say his age for sure and how many years their past with Moreau happened). It’s gross, creepy and weird and Noe feels it. We can see him backing away from a fucking kid.
Tumblr media
Jun did it purposely. Combine all of it, to made the horror moment for him, probably to break him in front o Misha.
The running thing in Vanitas no Carte is motif of Noe not having any control over anything in his life (even without his noticing). Noe never had a control over anything.
He didn’t have a control over his life during childhood, ie when he was sold on auction
He didn’t have any control over Louis’s death and curse. He couldn’t do anything to save him or to save other kids back then. He could do nothing.
He don’t have any control in general - he was trained by the Teacher to be his pupil. Noe don’t even know how big control Grandpa de Sade has over him and his doings.
He didn’t have any control when Domi found him at Orloks. She just kidnapped him to Altus.
He don’t have any control over his relationship with Jeanne - anytime he wants to talk to her or about her he is interuptted.
He didn’t want his blood be sucked by Ruthven and he didn’t want to Swear.
He don’t have any control now. He didn’t wanted to know Vanis past non consensualy, he didn’t wanted to drink Mishad blood, he don’t want to see Domi in this situation.
It’s a writing continuity. We are being told how little control Noe has over his (and others) life. It’s becaming a plot point. MochiJun knows what she is doing. She purposely made the whole chapter creepy and unsettling. She need us to know that what is happening right now is wrong - not only drinking blood from a 1/4 naked kid, but also the rest. Everything. That this chapter is traumatic - we literally touched Noes trauma, Domis trauma and Mishas trauma over a few pages and panels:
Dominique - we can see how she reacted to Louis death, how she wanted to make Noe feels better, why she changed her hairstyle and outfit, how she hated herself because it was her brother who died, not her. We can see it now - she is depressed, she hatees herself and would prefer to die over Louis. She was easy to catch for Misha.
Noe - we can see that he can do anything for Domi because she is his last friend, his family, last thing (person) he has. He can’t lose her, he is desperate and traumatized over Louis death so he can do anything, even suck Mishas blood and know Vanis past even if he hates it and its wrong for him.
Misha - we can see thanks to his flashbacks that it was hinted he was (if I undertand english correctly, sorry, it’s not my first language) se*//ually abused as a child. He thought his mother was possesed by devil, it was traumatizing on it’s own, but he was also dressed as a girl, physically abused and hit by his mother and used during her “sessions” with clients. Then he was kidnapped by Moreau who, probably, was experimenting on him just like on Vanitas - so Misha was abused again. And later Vanitas killed “father” what also traumatized him. His behaviour towards Noe it’s not really that suprising - its horrible and sad and heartbreaking knowing why Misha is that way, but its logical. It has sense. It’s just how his trauma made him.
Sooo do I think what happened in the chapter was good or okay? No. It was creepy and made me feel sick. But do I think Jun is bad for making it this way? No. I think her work is great, because she actually did planned it logically. She delivered TONS OF INFORMATIONS by only one chapter. Tons, about a lot of characters - Misha, Vanitas, Noe, Dominique, even Roland (he know Misha is one thing, but, also, why he was so beaten up? What happened my man? Who hurted you?) It wasn’t just gross pedo-fanservice some people accused it to be. (even if it was gross anyway och my gos this scene with Misha standing over Noe was frightening, I was just as scared as Noe, I felt like I was in his place and I was looking at Misha)
Also! I’m pretty sure one of the reason for Misha undressing his collar a little bit was for us (and maybe Noe too) to see his possesion mark on his arm. For some reason we, as an audience, need to know this.
But! We also get a lot of different informations -
Domi is a royal guard and is working in castle, so she probably knew Luca before and had contact with him or some other royal people. i think it’s interesting that she worked at castleas a royal guard.
Luca probably likes Domi and was worried about her. Also after knowing she is missing he decided to took direct actions, he is not passive.
Misha has Vanitas of the Blue Moon’s possesion mark on his hand. It’s really interesting, especially when we know that its his prosthetic arm. Somebody tried to cut his arm with a possesion mark and I bet it was Vanitas or Misha himself. Yet it DIDN’T work, mark of possesion is still here, above his prosthetic.
Noe “don’t know anything about Vanitas”. It was an important sentence. It was something that Noe need to know narratively speaking. It’s pushing the story forward, because Noe’s and Vani’s relationship is the core of the story. It was literally told in the first chapter that it’s a story about their journey.
Misha had a lot of bruises on his whole body after he was rescued. We knew he was beaten, but we could also see it’s evidence.
Mishas face when Noe drank his blood was similar to his mother face when a vampire drank his blood. It wasn’t accidental, we were shown his trauma and how it’s affected him.
Next thing I noticed:
Tumblr media
In this panel, Misha looks A LOT like Vanitas. Og course he has child features and chubbier face, he has white(?) hair and eyelashes ets, but his mimic, his gaze, how one of his eyes is covered by hair and his words. Its literally how Vanitas’s panel would be draw. It’s really Vanitaish.
We also got some questions, like:
What happened to Misha and how he lost his hand?
What Luca ordered Jeanne? (probably to check out real Paris and maybe find Domi or Noe)
Why Mishas mark of possesions was so important for us to know?
Is that Roland met Misha in the past important?
Why was Roland so beaten up?
There was also one more thing. Jun is operating in her story not only by making parallels betweend her characters (ie Teacher and VotBM, or Astolfo nad Vanitas, or Louis and Domi etc) but also contrasts. The biggest contrast motif on the story are probably Vanitas and Noe thanks to not only their history, but also their appearance, personality, design of their clothes, their height, their names (Vanitas being related to death and vanity, Noe being related to saving and something biblical etc). Their whole characters are made constrast. And so we got here:
Tumblr media
Vanitas and Misha are not made parallels, theyre made contrast.
Misha is looking from the upside, Vanitas is looking from the above, Mishas hair is white, Vanitas hair is black, Vani has a shadow over his face, misha is lighted. Misha has white eyelashes, Vani has black. Misha looks calm an suprised, Vani looks stressed. Their whole “atmosphere” is different. Even if Misha is bruised in this panel he looks clean, even angelic, when Vanitas looks... bad, he has dark circles under eyes, wrinkled eyebrows, bandage etc. They’re made to contrast themselves, not to be compared to. It’s the next hint about their role in the story I suppose. That they’re not similar, they’re not the same and there is something basically different about their roles.
I would also like to write about shadow and light work in this chapter, but I’m just really tired right now, soo here it is! My analyze od the new chapter, or, at least, the most important parts of it (for me). I liked it in general, but it was... stressed and I was anxious about this chapter for the one whole day. But in general I think Jun did gods work with delivering informations she wanted to delivere.

“You had a nightmare, tell me what it was about so I can fix it.” + reesker (any au)
Night Terror | Bloodletting
Occult!au; Sarah’s past continues to haunt her and Ava wishes she could take it all away
Prompt: “you had a nightmare, tell me what it was about so I can fix it.”
Word count: 1768
CW: nightmares, crying, mention of Sarah’s trauma (gun tw, death tw, murder tw), Ava makes death threats 🤭
***
The breeze was warm as it ruffled through the trees, making the wind chimes hanging from the balcony jingle musically. Ava had left the glass doors open, letting the wind and warm air into the study they were occupying. Barely evening, the July sun was still warming the surrounding forest and its inhabitants. Even still, Ava was the only one awake, the human on the lounge beside her having fallen asleep over an hour before.
Sarah had rested her head in Ava’s lap, patting down the silky fabric of her dress so it cradled her head better. Ava never complained, though she did tease Sarah about her mortal need for sleep. Sarah argued that she deserved a nap, especially after chasing Estia through the woods all afternoon, listening for the immortal child’s excited giggles from the trees to give away her position. Really, Ava quite enjoyed when the woman would cuddle up to her like this, no hint of fear or caution when Sarah settled down and sighed happily when Ava ran a gentle hand through her hair.
So that’s why Ava remained unmoving for so many hours, just soaking up the now familiar comfort of her presence and letting her mind wander. It was easy for her, staying so still and finding peace in the stillness. Over a century of life later, the vampire learned to welcome any peace and quiet, since it seemed to be hard to come by in any era. Plus, she happened to be in great company; which certainly helped the situation.
Alas, the peace and quiet never lasted. It’s end was rather abrupt though, not expected by any party, and it had the hair on the back of Ava’s neck rising. As quickly as she had been sound asleep, comfortable and silent, Sarah started to cry. It wasn’t even soft whimpers or a single tear, no it was the whole waterworks. Her thin body started to shake, disturbing the tight curls that had been spread out on Ava’s lap like a fan. Her pleading words were barely intelligible, or at least they would be on a human scale, yet the other woman heard her fine.
“No,” her voice broke and shook even in sleep, “L-leave her… alone! Mom!”
Had it still had a rhythm, Ava’s heart may have skipped at the pain in her human’s tone. She hated the sound, the way fear twisted her favourite sound into such a heartbreaking one. Unconsciousness had always been the one escape from the perils of mortal trauma, in Ava’s experience, yet it seemed that Sarah couldn’t even escape it in rest.
The scream that followed was piercing and had Ava shaking her awake, unable to bear the thought of her being scared any longer. She leaned closer to try to wake her, repeating her name and brushing large tears off her cheeks. Sarah’s eyes opened, big and fearful, yet she could see that they didn’t quite reach Ava’s gaze. She was still paralyzed by whatever had plagued her unconscious, making the other woman frown. Even when Ava pulled her up into a sitting position, hoping it would wake her more, all Sarah could do was cry.
“Sarah, you’re safe,” she spoke as one would to an injured animal; calm and cautious. She waited a moment, the only sound Sarah’s half choked sobs. A gentle and cold hand on her cheek caught her attention a bit and Ava could almost see the mental battle that was raging in an attempt to distinguish reality from memory.
“Darling, it’s Ava,” she prompted patiently, “I’ve got you, okay?”
It was those words that had Sarah slumping forward, tears falling a bit harder as she sobbed in relief. The blonde caught her before she fell completely, strong arms drawing her close immediately. Neither spoke for a while, since Ava didn’t wish to startle her any further. Instead they stayed like that, rocking lightly as Ava tried to soothe her similar to how she used to calm Estia during bad memories of her turning. It was a comfort she vaguely remembered her mother doing with her and Anikka as well, a gentle swaying to coax them back to reality if dreams felt too real.
It took quite some time but eventually Sarah started to relax, first her shoulders slumping and the sobs ebbed away to sniffles and the occasional whimper. Ava kept holding her, whispering a reassurance with any sound the human made. This kind of comfort had been scarce for the both of them for a very long time, so it felt incredibly sacred in that moment. Despite differences and the span of life, the two had found each other in exactly the way they both needed and Ava was happy to hold Sarah like this for as long as she needed. She was her human, her darling, and she silently vowed to keep her safe and happy with all her might.
When she felt Sarah soften a little in her hold, her face now hidden in the cool skin of Ava’s neck, she spoke again. It took a little prompting to get Sarah to look at her, maybe a lot of coaxing is a better descriptor, but eventually she pulled back just enough to meet her blood red eyes.
“What happened?”
Sarah shook her head almost immediately, clearly not in the mood for sharing. Ava knew she wouldn’t give it up that easily, yet she also knew that she wanted to talk. This was something that plagued Sarah way more than she let on and she imagined she needed another soul to speak to. One who could answer, anyway, since Ava was sure Autumn had heard the stories endless times. As human as that cat seemed to be sometimes, she couldn’t talk these things out with her owner, so her therapeutic role could only go so far.
“My cherished one,” Ava’s tone held a little warning because she knew she could be stubborn, “You had a nightmare, now tell me what it was about so I can fix it.”
“Ava…”
“I have all of eternity to wait and listen,” Ava replied before she could protest, “But it would be more convenient if you told me now.”
That had Sarah pouting, knowing she would feel better if someone else knew about it. Ava was always happy to share the burden of her thoughts, especially the bad memories that popped up at the worst times. They always snuck up on Sarah, coming back just when she thought she was recovering again.
“I-,” she sighed heavily, “My mom.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I know,” Sarah didn’t fight the hand that came up to smooth down her hair, nor did she fight when Ava pulled her a bit closer. She only shimmied a bit closer, evading her eyes again as she felt overwhelmed at the thought of reliving the dream. Ava knew this and kept her hold on her waist, one hand cradling her head gently since she knew it made Sarah feel safer.
“The same one again?”
“Kinda… a little different.”
“Do you wish to talk about it, love?”
“It was just mom’s death again but this time I tried to get between them. When dad… he choked me and threw me to the ground…”
“That didn’t happen,” Ava promised, “And he'll never get a chance to do such a thing.”
“It still feels like his hand is there,” Sarah choked out, her own hand coming up to her throat. Ava could see some shallow scratches that must have happened during Sarah’s unconscious thrashing, they were superficial but still an angry red against her skin.
She was quick to replace Sarah’s hand with her own, running delicate fingers over the marks in a gentle pattern. Ava was casual about it, as casual as one could be in such a situation anyway, but Sarah knew what she was doing. The soothing touch, careful and loving, was meant to erase any lingering thoughts of her dream.
“He’s still out there, Ava.”
“I know,” she murmured idly, thumb brushing over her jawline, “But that man will never lay a hand on you again.”
“You can’t be so sure…”
“Sarah Reese,” the vampire’s tone was stern as she looked at her almost incredulously, “I can promise you that I will kill your father the second I see him, if ever. Though I would love for him to rot in jail as the disgusting creature he is, I don’t trust human law one bit. So I would much prefer to take matters into my own hands.”
“You… you would do that?”
“Of course,” she nodded firmly, “Anything to keep you safe, darling.”
“But you don’t-” Sarah took her hand off her neck to instead hold onto it tightly, “You are not violent; you told me you wouldn’t kill again if you could help it.”
“That is true. I never enjoy taking a life,” she agreed, “But I do not feel remorse for your father.”
“No?”
“Not after what he did to you, that is unforgivable in my book. It would only be fair, really. A man who has no regard for another life does not deserve to live a free one of his own.”
“But.. what if he hurts you?”
Ava almost wanted to laugh at that, the worry knitting Sarah’s brows together was endearing. 130 years of vampirism and countless lives lived, yet here was this little human so worried about a mortal man harming her. Her care for Ava was adorable and it warmed her from the inside out, it was the closest feeling to being unwaveringly loved that she had felt in quite some time.
“Sarah, my sweet Sarah,” she chuckled darkly and squeezed her hand, “He wouldn’t be the first disgusting excuse for a man I’ve killed. He won’t even see it coming; though he will certainly feel it.”

Little Darling 4 - a Lady Dimitrescu x Mia Winters fanfiction
"The walls of the basement were still as cold and slick as the day Lady Dimitrescu turned into what she was today. Some mold was still growing in corners here and there, but mostly it was contained to sealed boxes. “You turned because of the mold too?”"
what awaits Mia in the basement of Lady Dimitrescu's castle? how is the mold connected to both survivour, even if their trauma was 500 years apart?
ohhh boy i am SO happy with this fic yall have no idea. big thanks to everyone who has commeted on my fics so far, you make writing a fun process. i hope you enjoy the new chapter! !!!flashbacks are written in cursive!!! <3 <3 <3
Warnings: mention of child death, various mental illnesses
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
During the night, the snowfall in the valley had increased, snowing most of the village in. Lady Dimitrescu stood on the balcony, taking a drag from her smoke, blowing out smoke that nearly froze in the cold air. Mia was still fast asleep, the exhaustion caught up on her once the nightmares vanished. Lady Dimiterescu didn’t get any sleep during this very night - sleep was barely needed for her anyways, but she had ignored her own tiredness in favour of making sure Mia was okay. Guess the ‘human’ touch worked wonders on the traumatized.
“Lady Dimitrescu?”, Mia’s tired voice ripped her out of her thoughts and she turned around to face the young woman, standing in the doorway to the balcony, rubbing her sleepy eyes. “Can you close the door? I am freezing.”
“Oh right, you humans and your temperature problems.”, Lady Dimitrescu chuckled as she stepped back into the bedroom, “and please, call me Alcina.”
“Alright, Alcina.”, Mia chuckled, sitting back on the bed she had just emerged from, stretching her body from this good night’s sleep. “What is the plan for today? Will you show me where Rosy is?”
“Not yet. Before, you have to understand a few things. A few things about us. You worked with bio weapons before, so you will understand quickly enough…”
*
The walls of the basement were still as cold and slick as the day Lady Dimitrescu turned into what she was today. Some mold was still growing in corners here and there, but mostly it was contained to sealed boxes. “You turned because of the mold too?”
“Exactly. I spent hundreds of years dissecting my own blood to find out what was the trigger in this very mold, turning me into...this.”, Lady Dimitrescu said as she took a seat in the very same place the plague doctor had been on. “What I have come to realize - the plague doctors and fuck knows who else worked on the mold...they created an early version of the mold you were infected with. Of course, early and very simple, but you can see what it did to me.”
Mia nodded as she listened to Alcina talk, taking in the surrounding. It all reminded her so much of the basement she was locked in for three years, she could even feel the hard mattress under her spine. Something she never told Ethan was that she spent most of these years either trying to escape or sleep her injuries off. Eveline didn’t let her go. “How did they manage this back in...1500-something?”
“You are asking good questions, dear. I suppose the mold had a spontaneous mutation which caused its effects on me. I saw the dead bodies of previous victims. They died of mold poisoning or its effects on their lungs. Was lucky there, ‘suppose. And now I am immortal and could take over the world if I wanted to. Do I want to? Fuck no.”
“Why not?”, Mia chuckled at the thought of a vampire lady ruling over the world. What would the aliens say that watch us all day long? “Nothing could stop you. Not even any kind of bio weapons so far.”
“That’s the thing! Redfield and his team are developing a cure to the mold as we speak, with Rosy’s blood. The mold we were infected with is dangerously similar. Since no D-series exists anymore, they had to work with what they get. Ever since I got word of the D-series and the mold, I kept my eyes on your team and you. Because you would be the key to our deaths.”
“But why are they after you and your daughters? You haven’t caused any significant troubles, like turning a whole city into zombies…”
“Because we are mutants in the end. We shouldn’t exist in a perfect world with all sunshines and rainbow pooping unicorns. Too bad the world is a cruel place. Helping Redfield with the resurrection of Jill Valentine was the worst mistake I have made in over 500 years of living.”, Lady Dimitrescu explained, trailing over her exposed arm. Her veins were visible, but it was clear the mold had taken over her bloodstream judging by the colour alone. “The mold feeds off human blood. Once my blood was out, I started to thirst for whatever blood I could find. Most of the time I settled for homeless or old people - you know, the kind of people no one would miss.”
“...that makes sense, and that’s something rare to say in a situation like this.”, Mia said, earning a smile from Lady Dim- Alcina. “And why...don’t you just surrender and die? You have lived for over 500 years?”
“Oh Mia.”, Lady Dimitrescu chuckled as she stood up, cupping Mia’s cheeks, “Death is something so personal, trust me. It’s about the choice. If I want to kill myself, I’d just turn the mold into a vaccine. But being killed by a big mouthed assface who thinks the world belongs to him? I won’t give up without a fight. My daughters won’t give up without a fight. Suicide is something so personal.”
“Here.”, Carlos placed the newspaper article in front of Chris. Several homeless people had been found dead, drained of their blood. Chris read it with great interest, even though his Romanian was rusty. “Drained of their blood in Romania? This is either some sick dracula cosplayer or we have our eyes on vampires. Maybe they are the key to life!”
Chris raised an eyebrow at Carlos, “You really are into the thought of bringing her back to life, aren’t you?”
“Chris, look”, Carlos sighed, frustration and anger present in his mimic, “This is not the death Jill deserves. She deserves a second chance! Without the blood and pain and bio weapons. Fuck, let her adopt five cats and a llama if it makes her happy. But this is not the death she deserves”, and he pointed towards the cold camber her lifeless body was resting in. She looked so peaceful, as if she was just sleeping. Her blonde hair had fallen over her face, as if she was a fallen angel, ready to spread her wings at any given second. Chris might have given up on her, but not Carlos.
“Send out Kennedy then. He knows how to deal with the dirty work.”
*
The reports from Leon were clear. Mutants had infested the castle, but they weren’t much of a threat while Leon had been in there. It actually seemed as if they were avoiding him. But the key was a moment he accidentally witnessed.
“Lady Dimitrescu!”, a cry broke through the quietness of the castle. Leon had heard this sort of cry before - a mother who had just lost her child. A cry he never wanted to hear again. “Please help me! My daughter, my little baby…!”, she wailed as the three daughters surrounded her, taking the dead body of the toddler from her. The blonde daughter ran to where Lady Dimitrescu was staying while the two others comforted the hysteric mother. The child was pale and stiff, and must have been dead for quite a while. Leon swallowed dry at the view. He could deal with zombies and mutants in the weirdest ways, but dead children...he could never get used to this.
About an hour later, Lady Dimitrescu walked out of her study with the little girl, who was looking at least more alive. The colour had returned to her face and her chest was moving a little bit. “Here.”, she smiled as she handed the lady her daughter, “She needs rest for a few more days. Keep her warm and secure, bedrest is the best idea there. Also, she will be very thirsty once she wakes up. Let her drink all the water she needs, her body is severely dehydrated.”
Because of this, Leon decided to stay a few days more. He followed the mother to her home and stayed hidded. About a week later, he knocked on the door of the woman, asking for her help, if she had seen his dog ‘Rex’.
“Sadly, I have not.”, the woman said, and from the corner of his eyes, Leon was able to spot the once dead daughter, playing with some barbies. “But if I see him, I will let you know.” This was all the confirmation he needed. Leon headed back to the USA the following day to report from what he witnessed, and how they could be the key to saving Jill.

It's taken me long enough to get to these three! Honestly, while I've been so excited for them, I wanted to have their stories and involvement in the Rosiverse figured out beforehand! Now, I think I've got it mostly figured out and I'm a big fan of these kids and I hope you all will be as well!
Just so you all know, their ages are arranged but their ages in which Rosie left her home for Skyrim!
From left to right:
Dalil (6 years old)
- Just as much as a fun middle-child as his mother! Dalil can often be found toting around his little brother in a makeshift swaddle
- VERY fascinated by vampires and the occult, which proud and excited father Isran took as Dalil showing interest in the Dawnguard
- Because of this Dalil is usually following beside his father or his father is seeking him out with the latest trinkets or treasures he found on his latest hunt (Isran loves the little delighted gasp his son makes at the sight of it)
- However, Dalil actually would like to study living vampires (instead of the dead ones his father will let him see when he's older) in fact, he'd really like to meet one (Something Isran isn't anywhere near ready to handle)
- will be INCREDIBLY excited to meet Serana one day
- Otherwise, Dalil is a bit of a chatterbox, often excitedly prattling off to his sister and family during evenings when he and his father come back from studying
- Despite their eventual differences, Dalil and Isran are dearly close, and Isran has even audibly once said when looting a vampire corpse that "Dalil would love this!" Before showing it off to the rest of the hunting party
Elyas (1-year-old)
- A baby so there isn't too much to say about his current thoughts and personality, but he is a giggly little baby
- Hardly fussy either! He even enjoys traveling with his brother in his swaddle, despite the bumps and tripping
- Will later share a passion for tea, similar to his grandfather that will end up carving out his path in life!
- Hanee and Ehsan dote incessantly on him, and Indeela has a new elaborate tunic designed for him every day
Mariam (7 years old)
- The eldest sibling and only daughter between the two! Isran often hovered over her and fretted constantly when she was first born as a first-time father.
- Aisha, being a first-time mother was also ridiculously stressed, and would often visit the sea with Mariam beside Solitude during nights to escape the stress of being cooped up indoors.
- From this, Mariam's earliest memories are of the waves brushing beneath her feet, the sand slipping in-between her fingers, and the sound of the ocean rippling against itself.
- She now adores the ocean and is obsessed with all things nautical
- IElf found nowhere else, always check the docks, because Mariam can usually be found with a notepad and pencil asking the passing travelers for questions and advice. (She's earned the nickname 'little sailor' for it)
- She'll usually play a game with Makna, in which she'll throw a dart at a map of Tamriel and then describe whatever place the dart lands on. (It's often can be difficult to tell what Mariam is saying because of how excited she is to show off her knowledge)
Fun Facts for the Trio (Mainly relating to their relationship with Sister Rosie!)
- Mariam grew up considering Rosie her oldest sister because of the bond between Rosie and her father, as a result, the two often refer to each other as 'sister'
- Mariam also looks up to Rosie GREATLY, because of her seeking out to travel and Skryim and actually going out and doing it. Rosie has promised to one day let her and Mariam sail across the world
- Fascinated by the occult, Dalil is of course fascinated by Rosie and her strange friend group consisting of all sorts of fairy-tale creatures. Rosie is perfectly giddy to introduce her 'little brother' to her confusing entourage of friends.
- Rosie is always seeking out little gifts and toys for Elyas. The family often jokes about the small treasure pile amassing for him throughout Rosie's adventures. At some point in his life, he'll create his own unique tea flavor as a gift to his 'sister'
Image Description down below!
[Image Description: three children are sitting on a light brown wooden floor behind a wooden mauve-cushioned sofa in which a dark purple floral pattern is imprinted on the cushions. Two circular pillows are situated on both sides. Behind the sofa is a trio of tall, dark brown bookshelves in which the books are arranged in a gradient pattern from yellow to pink, none of which have titles on their spines and are of varying sizes. On the sofa is a basset hound, old and grey on his muzzle but otherwise of a light brown shade. He's sleeping soundly on the sofa with one ear still pressed up against the left cushion he's laying against. The three children from left to right is a brown-skin black boy, six years old with dark brown afro-textured hair that falls behind his ears in tight curls. He's smiling with sparkling black eyes. He is wearing a warm, pink shirt with a collar and puffed sleeves, with brown suspenders holding up his tan pants and dark brown, almost black shoes. He's sitting cross-legged and holding a baby in his lap, no older than one. The baby is a dark-skin black boy with an orange tunic draped over him and a small, dark brown afro. His eyes are black and he is smiling excitedly, looking up at his two siblings. The final sibling is a dark-skin black girl, eight years old with black afro-textured hair consisting of tight curls that reach her shoulders. She is wearing a tan jumper and cream-grey shirt, with a collar and rolled-up sleeves. Her boots are a dark brown, with her legs folded over one another and hands pressed against her knees. She is smiling with sweet, dark eyes. End Description.]

Waiting pt.3

part 3/?
word count: 2.2k
warnings: none
read this first! Edward explores what is causing his wife to act so detached.
Edward was paralyzed with fear. It was a similar feeling to when he watched himself nearly drain Bella of her blood after James had bitten her. The feeling when Jasper nearly attacked and killed her. It was the feeling of a broken man who has now broken another person. He was a porcelain doll with cracks along his figure, and the beautiful, fragile doll next to him gets knocked over by some force that he’s caused.
Bella has been acting differently, more than should be expected after beginning her new life. She’s been unusually distant, taking her vehicle to Port Angeles and not telling him why. She chooses to hunt on her own in the mornings, but Edward knows that she is not only hunting. He can smell her trail when he goes out later in the afternoon, she takes a long route and ends up by the stream bed. No blood along the trail at any point, no scent of an animal she’s killed.
When Nessie is asleep she hands her off to Edward or Rose. When Nessie wakes up she’ll play momentarily before claiming to have forgotten to do something. It’s as if she shows no interest in her daughter, and why? She had chosen to have this child, chosen the child's life over her own. And now she seems disinterested in every aspect of her life.
This burning, paralyzing fear is what pulled Edward out of his home that evening. Entrusting his daughter to her more than willing aunt and uncle, he went to the treaty line.
Standing at the edge now his thoughts run circles around his feelings, taunting him and scaring him. Telling him he’s an awful father and husband, that he made a mistake when he chose to pursue a future with Bella. But what about my daughter? Regardless of his feelings towards his wife, he has to agree that his daughter was the best possible outcome.
All he had wanted was a future with his love, a future where him and Bella could live in peace. And they were given a beautiful daughter, warm brown eyes and red unruly hair. If he had to choose to go back in time and remain away, could he? I can’t imagine a life without her, he thinks mourningly. His daughter is his whole life, he spends every moment he can with her, he enjoys nothing more than being a part of her life.
When she smiles at something he’s done it’s as though his heart will simply burst. He cannot abandon his daughter, there is no reality where he can imagine ever doing so. His wife may be unhappy now, she may be secretive and reclusive, but that is a worthy price for bringing him his beautiful daughter.
“What do you want, old man?” It’s Jacob Black, standing on the other side of the treaty line. He’s in what likely used to be jeans but are now sliced along the thighs unevenly creating an unflattering pair of shorts. His chest is bare, as it always seems to be, and his hair is braided in two strips that fall over his shoulders. He had gotten Edwards' text.
After the birth of Nessie, Bella had appointed Jacob as the godfather, which very few found endearing. This sentiment had brought Jacob closer to the Cullens, often he would be found running perimeter around the family home or bringing new toys and clothing to the little girl. He wears a necklace around his neck that she had assisted in making for him.
It’s a pink shoelace with orange, yellow, and red beads laced through it. It was part of an arts and crafts project Jacob had brought over. He wears it constantly. It’s long and hangs down over his stomach so that when he shifts he can still wear it as a wolf.
Now, Jacob plays with it absently as Edward regards him with pressed lips. “Alright, bloodsucker, let’s spit out your words,” Jacob thinks with little sympathy. It’s a major blow to the vampire's pride to even broach the topic with this man, and knowing that the entire pack will soon hear about it does little to ease his conflicting emotions.
“I would like to discuss Bella with you,” Edward says formally. Jacobs eyes trail over him lazily, as if looking to pick out his flaws and toss them back in his face. “She better not be pregnant again.” Edward chooses not to respond to this. Of course she isn’t, it isn’t possible.
Finally Jacob responds out loud, “You already married her, what more do you want?” A smirk spreads over his lips, “If you’re looking for a second wife I’ll happily offer up Leah.”
“I don’t want anything-”
“Right, right, you’re so selfless and holy and better-than-thou,” Jacob snorts which only adds to Edwards mounting anger. “Let’s get this over with, colonizer.” Edwards eyes roll back in his head, arms crossing over his chest.
“Please, try and take what I am telling you seriously,” he says a little too forcefully. He doesn’t want to argue with Jacob right now, he’s trying to have a civil discussion and instead Jacob is taunting him. Can this boy not take anything seriously?
“Fine.”
Edward gives him a curt nod, “Thank you.” With an awkward glance around the forest, Edward begins his speech. “I was not present when Bella was going through her troubling… phase,” he says the last word gingerly as if not wanting to awaken it from it’s sleep.
“Depression,” Jacob corrects mentally. Edward cringes at the word but continues as if nothing was thought.
“But I have seen its worst parts through the minds of others. I am worried she may not be as happy as she once was. I’m concerned.” The statement doesn’t phase Jacob physically or mentally, instead his thoughts remain strangely silent and he merely shifts his weight to the other foot. “I’m not sure what to do, she is away today and I thought about following her-”
“Are you an idiot? Did you spend the last three hundred years working towards your doctorate in the school of dumbasses?” Jacobs' tone is cruel, his facts incorrect, and his demeanor more than a little concerning. He’s on the defence, as if something Edwards said has offended him. “Sometimes I wish kicking your ass wouldn’t force your daughter into therapy.”
If anything his poor daughter will need therapy from the infinite amount of insults her godfather trades with her father.
“So I’m going to assume you don’t think following her to an unknown location is not a good idea?” It’s a rhetorical question and the century old vampire quickly continues on, “Need I remind you that the second she thought her mother was in trouble she offered herself up on a silver platter?”
What was supposed to be a civil conversation has instead turned into a nasty argument, and Edward isn’t sure what caused the change. “Need I remind you that if there weren’t any vampires that wouldn’t be a problem?” Jacob’s words hit too close to home and he notices this when Edward winces at the statement. “What? You feel guilty now?”
“Yes, yes, I feel guilty because she very clearly is not happy!” Now Edward is yelling, matching Jacobs energy and escalating the situation even more than need be. “Do you not think I wish I could intervene? I have been trying to discuss this with her, bring up speaking to psychologist-”
“She doesn’t need a psychologist, she needs a friend.” Edward wasn’t meant to hear the thought and quickly Jacobs' mind focuses on the necklace between his fingers, trying to avoid that line of thought. “This wood is so smooth…”
“She has Rose,” Edward sputters uselessly, pale hands coming up as if to grasp his wife’s mentally well-being out of the air. “She has Alice, she has Esme. Her and Emmett get along quite well-”
“And she has me,” Jacob says aloud. His tone is quiet, stating a fact and nothing more. He isn’t looking to antagonize Edward and is no longer defensive. “And I’m the only one her age. The only one who isn’t a vampire. The only one who isn’t part of the family she married into.” It’s like running into a brick wall, the reality of the situation hits Edward in the face and it’s all he can do to not falter backwards a step to try and right himself.
His fingers begin to twitch at his sides, eyes eerily still as his brain processes the plausibility of what Jacob Black just told him. “She’s lonely?” He says at last, the word breaking as it escapes his lips and crashing to the floor like a porcelain doll. His wife, the woman who told him she wanted to be a vampire, wanted to spend eternity with him, is lonely?
“She’s-” Jacobs cut off as a howl rings through the forest. The noise echoes off the trees around them, Edward reads it through the other man's mind. It’s his turn to run perimeter around the reservation. “I’ve gotta go.” He turns around and sprints off into the shadows of the forest. His steps quicken and then are replaced by the heavy thudding of four paws. The sound of the wolf running quickly escapes Edwards hearing distance and the forest remains silent.
The vampire stands alone in the forest, the canopy of trees above him cutting off the filtered sunlight of the dreary day. How could his wife be lonely? Didn’t she choose this life?
He feels some piece of information stuck in the back of his mind, just out of reach and he growls in frustration. This was his family, his life, his wife. And of course he didn’t have a clue on how to fix any of it.
How could he have allowed this to happen?
It’s a split second decision that sends him through the woods, angling towards the nearest city. He’s the fastest of his family, matching miles in seconds and never needing to slow down or catch his breath. He doesn’t even need to breathe. It’s a wondrous escape from the bindings of human life, being able to exercise his supernatural body to the full extent of its abilities. His strides quicken as he pushes them to go faster, his muscles pull and release in perfect harmony and work upon their own accord.
Bella had experienced this as a human, clutching onto his shoulders as he tore through the forest with her on his back. It was everything he had wanted. Showing the girl he loved most the side of him that no other human got to see. And she had loved him back. Had. Where are her feelings now?
He slows as he reaches the edge of the highway, it’s lanes converging into slower moving traffic as the city opens before him. Brick buildings stand at attention along main street, the exteriors primed for maximum tourist appeal. Old signs hang from stoops over the doorways, restaurants and gift shops alike. Edward already knows the exact route he had taken when Bella had come here as a human, when she was trapped in that alleyway- “But where would she be now?” He asks himself aloud.
She had driven here, not run as he had. He supposes he could look for her vehicle and then trace her scent to her current whereabouts, but then what? He finds her and approaches her, tells her that he’s been searching her down to confirm that she does in fact still love him? No, he can’t do that, he knows that. Jacob had told him specifically not to do what he is currently doing. Not to follow Bella, don’t act like an idiot.
Yet, here he is. Acting against his and Jacobs better judgement.
He had purposely not spoken to his wife about her trips to Port Angeles because he didn’t want her to feel like she had to ask permission to leave. He wanted her to develop a sense of self as a vampire, not rely on him to sustain her only. He had wanted her to explore her new senses and abilities. He thought everything was going so well. Perhaps Rosalie was right, Bella was better off as a human.
He steps out of the forest, grateful for the dim sky which clouded his skin. He walked aimlessly towards the main street, allowing his senses to take in all that is around him. He smells the fresh bread of the bakery across the road, the sickly sweet scent of melted ice cream sitting somewhere in a trashcan. He smells everything, but comes up without his wife. He hears the cars and the chattering of people as they go about their mindless, petty tasks, but his wife is not anywhere on this street.
He eventually finds her vehicle, a black suv with tinted windows. She had parked at the opposite end of the city, under the shade of a large pine and beside a public park. He sniffs the air experimentally, her scent is travelling in every direction, but the north trail into the park is more potent. She’s been here recently. He looks through her passenger side window, a box of tissues sits on the seat alongside an open glasses case. None of them wear glasses, and this discovery startles him a little.
He follows the trail north.
