i was trying to think of what connection q!phil, q!charlie and q!quackity (and i guess elquackity) have because of the tickets today and i started to think about how q!phil has had bad relations with both q!quackity and q!charlie because they both have tried to kill chayanne, and then i remembered how charlie killed tilin so he had bad relations with q, and so on and so forth and then. a realization hit
q!charlie, q!quackity, elquackity and q!phil have all intentionally tried to kill an egg before. and i believe they are the only islanders to do so? (please correct me if i’m wrong on this)
like they’ve had either plans to kill an egg or multiple eggs (quackity, elquackity, charlie), intentionally killed an egg (charlie (killed chayanne but it didn’t count in the end)) or actually tried to kill an egg (charlie, phil, elquackity)
most people on the island have never intentionally tried or planned to kill any of the eggs except these four (again please correct me if i’m wrong) and with the latest post by quackity, during the november 4th event the tickets will lead to whatever the purgatory on the qsmp is right? which is connected to the eggs right? well how fitting the three special tickets to purgatory are assigned to the only people who have such a history with the eggs, don’t you think
#qsmp#qsmp philza#qsmp slimecicle#qsmp quackity#qsmp elquackity#also i know a lot of people know about charlie and quackity and elquackity trying to kill eggs#but the phil one might be not as known because it was early on so here’s the context:#charlie broke chayanne bed before the rule about bed breaking was set#so that he could get a gun for flippa#so he killed chayanne (wasn’t counted) and in revenge phil went and knocked him down#i think because rubius angel told him charlie killed chay?#and like the killing happened when phil was logged out to fix a bug charlie convinced him he had#so anyway after knocking out charlie phil attacked flippa#he tried to kill flippa as revenge to charlie for taking one of chayanne’s lifes i think#but flippa killed him with her gun instead and that’s how phil got his first death on the server#this is all about the qsmp characters btw i can’t be bothered to type the q! everytime#please correct me if i’m wrong on this i am but a humble q!philza main#with a limited language knowledge#i think the only other member with history of intentional egg deaths is rubius#but he’s not an average islander#his death relations were from making deals that’d lead to deaths (like charlie’s flippa gun deal)#the reason i’m highlighting ’intentionally’ so much is because that’s the connecting part here#like yeah mariana killed flippa but they were both accidents#i’m not counting tilin’s death here because that was unintentional#chayanne’s uncounted death wasn’t though like that was intentional as fuck#this whole post was brought to you by me remembering a post about how only a few islanders have gone and tried to kill eggs#like charlie with his attempted murder spree#shey rambles

i know TIT shows don't start until next month, but i want to start posting about this early: what covid safety precautions are you guys planning on taking?
this community prides itself on being a welcoming and safe place for neurodivergent and mentally ill fans, which rules! phannies are one of the kindest groups of fans i've known, and that's a lived type of kindness—people act on it, we aren't just talk.
so that's why i'm mentioning this now! there are a lot of physical disabilities that both frequently co-occur with neurodivergence and that make potentially getting covid more dangerous. and covid cases are at an extreme high right now.
it would suck very bad if going to TIT caused people to get sick or die. it would suck if dan and phil got sick from being around us, both because of the impacts on them and because of any potentially cancelled shows.
so how are we going to take care of each other? i have several points of action i'm planning on, but i hope you guys are thinking about it too.
my longer term steps: i still wear a kn-95 every time i leave the house, and i still have not caught covid. even though i know my level of caution has good success rates i am planning on minimizing risky behaviors for the week/two weeks before my show. + i'm up to date on my boosters.
my personal steps day of: i'm planning on using a preventative nasal spray before TIT too; with the nasal spray, i may be comfortable with removing my mask for a picture during my m&g. i might not; i plan on decorating my mask to match my outfit—possibly decorating a cloth mask to wear OVER my kn-95.
i think it would be very cool if we started decorating masks and posting about that the way we've been doing bracelets!
my community-focused steps: i'll be bringing extra masks with me, too, to hand out in case anyone wants them; might have half of those include cat whiskers as decoration. i'm also making this post, and i'm going to talk about it in the discord servers i'm in.
in conclusion.
wearing a mask is an easy way to make us disabled phannies feel safe and cared for and included in this fandom! please consider it even if it's not something you find important in your day to day life. (though it's never too late to start masking for the protection of disabled people in your day to day life, too).

marin alive challenge! my birthday is soon. imagine it being reader birthday but them not telling creator? (and birthday is not open to public) CUS IM FEELING SILLY!!!
sorry if it’s a lil complicated. - ☕️
You can't expose me like that
AND I'M SORRY IF YOUR BIRTHDAY HAS ALREADY PASSED, BUT HAPPY LATE/EARLY/ON TIME BIRTHDAY ☕ ANON!!!! :D
You didn't specify who you wanted, so I did a few short headcanons for each person on my list :]
Pronouns: they/them
TW: none
To you, your birthday was always your business - nobody else's.
You celebrated with your family and your friends in real life
You'd never revealed your birthday to the public
You liked your privacy and it felt a little too risky for your taste
You were showing one of your favourite gifts you'd received today, having forgotten they didn't know your birthday.
It takes Ranboo a second to realise that he didn't know your birthday in the first place. He thought he'd been told and just forgot about it, so he sat there apologising for forgetting about your birthday for a good five minutes.
Tommy is about shouty, tbh. He's in shock that you told him your birthday by showing him the fucking cow print trousers that your mum got you.
Tubbo kind of forgets he didn't already know your birthday. He's just going with it, like he knew all along. He tries not to make a big deal out of it.
Niki is quite honoured that you've told her. She doesn't know a lot about you, since privacy is very important to you, so she's glad you're letting her into that part of your life.
Jack finds it quite funny that this is how he's finding out it's your birthday. Yes, he's glad you trust him with that information, but that doesn't mean it's not quite funny. He'll probably forget you don't share your birthday online though, and he might let it slip.
Wilbur is quite annoyed that you only just told him. Not because he feels entitled to know, but he's annoyed that he hasn't had time to get you anything, so he sends something to your house to arrive tomorrow with Amazon prime.
Schlatt half-thinks it's a joke - a way to throw him off and make him think it's your birthday, when it's actually not. He's quite confused when you laugh at him for thinking that.
C!Techno, though he doesn't act like it, is glad you told him. To everyone else on the SMP, you were a mystery. Nobody knew where you were from or when you were born, so he was quite honoured to know. He tries to throw something together as a small gift, though.
Phil is in disbelief that you've told him with no issues - so casually. He's glad you told him, it proves that your relationship really has changed over the time you've known each other.

Hey guys! I usually don’t post something like this, but I thought I might as well anyway, in honor of the 5th anniversary of Dan’s coming out video.
So I mentioned in a previous post in an answer to @demonqueenart that I am pansexual. I’ve known this since around the time that Dan and Phil came out back in 2019. I was in community college at the time, and it was my first time in a public school setting. Before then, I had been to private schools throughout elementary, middle, and high school, and there wasn’t a lot of diversity in terms of how people expressed themselves due to the restrictions and dress codes that the schools enforced. So I never really had a way to express myself in terms of clothing styles and stuff like that. I thought I was straight when I was in high school, and I was already an ally because I had a few close friends or classmates who were LGBTQ, and I accepted them no matter what, (and I was taught growing up that we are called to show kindness and love to others no matter who they were) but it was kinda kept on the down low because it was considered taboo, especially since our highschool was a Christian high school.
When I finally entered community college in 2018, I was astounded by the diversity of people there and the way that people expressed themselves, whether it was by their clothing style, their gender identity, sexuality, etc. And I realized that some of the people who were there were really attractive. And it didn’t matter whether they identified as male, female, nonbinary, or whatever. I never did ask anyone out (cuz I’m a HUGE coward, lol), But I knew that it didn’t matter who the person I’d eventually date was as long as we had a connection, treated each other and others kindly, had a wonderful personality, and had things in common. Questioning my sexuality was one of the many shower thoughts I had lol
I remember scrolling through TikTok as well and seeing the countless ways that people expressed their identities, and it made me feel like I could be that way too. (Literally remember seeing a cosplayer’s version of Cat-ra from She-ra Princess of Power and blushing madly and thinking, “Wait, why am I blushing, why am I feeling this way?!”, haha)
I didn’t see Dan and Phil’s coming out videos until a little while later, but they touched my heart in so many ways when I did. Dan’s “Gay and Not Proud” video also helped me through my journey. So many quotes from the video spoke to me, especially the part when his spiritual subconscious told him,
“Depressed little emo Dan, it wasn’t his fault. Don’t hate him, don’t hate yourself…you have a lot to be proud of.”
Being proud of myself had kinda been a challenge, even to this day. Especially since there has been so much panphobia and harmful stereotypes surrounding pansexuality. Even when people mention different types of sexualities, rarely do they mention pansexuality, and it makes me wonder if I am valid too. I’ve been out to very few people, other than a few friends that I know will accept me, and I’m out to my sister and mother. Most of my extended family is LGBTQ accepting, but at the same time, I’m not sure when I should tell them, especially since I’m not really dating anyone at the moment and I’m kinda nervous about what questions they’ll ask if I do come out. I hope to eventually, tho.
I really do hope one day, I find the right person for me. I’ve never been asked out before, never had my first kiss, or even been on my first date. So no dating experience whatsoever, lol. It’s been really frustrating because so many of my friends and other people my age (early-mid 20s) have been going on dates, finding their soulmates, getting married etc. And it honestly makes me jealous because no one has ever said “I love you” to me in a romantic way. I truly do wish I find someone who loves me for who I am because I don’t want to die alone. I want to eventually start dating, but there’s of course always the risk of catfishing, and I don’t want my heart to be broken at the same time. So it’s been complicated, to say the least.
Well, that was a bit of a rant, but that's the end of it, haha. I hope this message finds you all well. Remember, you’re not alone in your journey, and there will always be people out there who care about you. And if you’re not able to come out just yet, just know that things will get better. I promise. Thank you so much for reading, and if you have any questions, feel free to leave an ask or reply!
I also (one last thing) wanna say a big THANK YOU to all the people who have liked and reblogged my Dan and Phil edits as well as my music. I’ve been getting better and better at using CapCut and GarageBand IOS (yes, I make the music and videos on my phone bc that’s all I can afford to work with, lol. Does it eat up my data? Yes. Do I care? No.), But each time I see that someone liked or reblogged one of my works, it makes me so happy and motivates me to keep going. So I really appreciate it!
More edits and posts will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

I had actually devised a sweet hit and run strategy for Cadillac Dreams, just because it seemed most convenient to me to say as few words as possible about this song I never cared about too much from Hot in the Shade (1989), the Kiss album that I never really counted among my very favorites.
Actually.
But actually actually, my least favorite songs have always turned out to be the best templates for the more interesting spontaneous trains of thought, and here we are once again.
Despite the stylistic diversity on Hot in the Shade, but also the mediocrity spread over long stretches, Cadillac Dreams always formed a foreign body in my eyes, not only on this album, but within the entire Kiss katalog. In much the same way that Rock This Town (1980) by the Stray Cats would be totally out of place on a Kiss klassik like Love Gun (1977), or any other Kiss album. It's that Rockabilly thing that turns it off, right from the first note.
And I don't even necessarily think it's a bad song, just some kind of anomaly, even more than a song like Odyssey (1981) could ever be regarded to be, because Kiss have certainly been no strangers to pompous musicals since Destroyer (1976) (1).
Yet, just imagine if the original line-up had never split up in the early 80s, but had still taken off the make-up, and probably due to the fact that Peter Criss was still in the band as the drummer, would never have switched to contemporary Metal, but would in all probability have simply continued to move around in other areas of rock like a couple of gypsies, one of which, rockabilly rock, could have turned out to be quite conceivable. If an entire album, or an album with several songs in this subgenre, had been created from this idea, then, under this circumstance, and only under this circumstance, yes, then Cadillac Dreams would have been an even a more than acceptable Kiss song.
So much for that.
And well, what more could someone like me do with this song, except perhaps briefly point out a small mannerism that it shares with the quantum leaps better known and almost bursting with energy piece of glam rock by The Sweet that goes by the name of Ballroom Blitz (1973).
So, if you were to simply run both of those choruses through your head, what would be the first thing you might notice? Exactly, that small but crucial repetition at the end of the last lines. While this is the tremendously memorable refrain standard for The Sweet, it only occurs once for Kiss. But hey, once is better than never, and after all, I take all that I can get.
Rhythmically, however, Cadillac Dreams doesn't quite move in the same realms as the light-footed urge of Ballroom Blitz (of which one could assume the drummer was on an exclusive coffee diet), but still keeps you on your toes enough to not lose touch and at least stay close to it; somewhere very close to the battle cry and intro of Do You Remember Rock and Roll Radio (1980) (2) by everyone's good old friends the Ramones.
Even if these are all aspects that should not be considered irrevocably repulsive, I would nonetheless like to leave my usual snippy final phrase more or less to Bruce Kulick.
Didn't even he categorically reject his guitar services at the time and suggest that Gene should take them into his own hands?
Side Note:
(1) And we will also be getting to the bottom of this issue in the near future.
(2) Yes, Kiss covered that one later, even much later, for a Ramones tribute sampler. Kover it Up will cover it, just a little later.
Of course, one could also argue that Cadillac Dream's horn section could suggest the production of a Phil Spector.

I woke up way too early so I’m about to go back to sleep, but I just wanted to share that last night I had a dream in which, shortly post-canon DnDads S2, Lincoln was very determined to make Grant a well-known singer (like, on a stage)??? Grant was like mega embarrassed but a little hopeful at first because he thought this was going to be some kind of father-son bonding thing (since Lincoln wanted to be a backup dancer or something? lol), but he soon realized it was mostly just because Lincoln wanted to make him feel better sooo he felt really guilty about that
Anyway apparently this was some kind of animated web series episode I was watching in my bedroom with my mom and little brother (???), and Lincoln asked Grant to take inspiration from his favorite artist, so he starts singing a Devi McCallion song (I can’t really remember which one, but it MIGHT have been What’s Wrong? - Girls Rituals) and I lose my shit bc I’m like. that’s MY favorite artist! I opened my Grant playlist to prove it was on there and everything lol. I was very proud of myself 😭
Anyway tl;dr I think this is the most embarrassingly on-brand dream I have ever had. It felt like that post that’s like “and then MCR starts singing Welcome to the Black Parade and PATD joins them, and then Dan and Phil walk out on stage carrying the gay flag” or whatever HAHDHAHAHAHAH. Shoutout to my subconscious for being self-indulgent tonight LMAO 👍

Okay, I finally have time to rip chapter 6 to shreds (and I’ll pretend I’m not physically vibrating about chapter 7 based on implications).
Anyway, let’s start with something I realised like 2 days ago and have been losing my mind about since: Wilbur isn’t wearing his ferronnière. His reasons make sense. He only wears it to symbolise his status and everyone who will be going with him, will know who he is. We also know from the semi canon prequel one shot that he is terrified of loosing it. (And I don’t know if he still has that Pearl thingy on his head, but I feel like getting thrown of a cliff in the dark and the snow might have made him lose it if he did have it.)
Which brings me to the thing I’m losing my mind about. Wilbur is stuck and trapped somewhere outside of the palace without his ferronnière! Meaning that if they get found by random people, they are obviously wealthy, but have no way to prove their exact status. Tommy hasn’t really been announced as heir, he’s not wearing anything to mark him as more than a duke’s son. And Wilbur does not have his one symbol on him.
Also, did you have to give him confirmation that he doesn’t get recognised without it. You had one of the bandits brush the hair out of his face! They would have seen it and known who he was if he was wearing it! But no! And they don’t know who he is! [“Who’s the other one?” The man questioned. /“Tutor?” The woman paused. / “Hm, he seems a bit young for that.”]
Also, [“A brother, maybe?”] way to subcontiously put the idea in their heads. This is a pattern btw. At least the same happened in Glass (I think) someone else brings up the bond first. It’ll be interesting to see if that mention sticks around. Depends on how much they’ll bond. I can’t really say how close they will or won’t get until I know how big of a traumatising adventure it will be.
P.s. Did Phil see his son off or was he out that early, because Wilbur is not wearing the ferronnière and we’ve seen Phil’s reaction to that before but I’m interested to see how different this would be.
(1/?)
-🌲
while you're very right about the boys having no way to prove their status to outsiders, there's also the question of if anyone outside the palace even knows the significance of the ferronnière period. all the nobility in Arestes know it's meaning, but common people who don't even know what their king looks like outside of other's descriptions of him? yeah, the ferronnière wouldn't do much in this situation. at least not this far from Castle Pandora
however, they are very clearly members of the nobility. meaning it's obvious the boys do hold some power. so there's that at least..
but yeah the bandits wouldn't really have given a shit if he was wearing it. I only meant for the ferronnière to be a symbol of recognition within the court/nobility/palace that whole scene. common folk like those bandits would just see it as more impractical rich people jewelry. though they would probably take note of the Royal Sigil and recognize that it means something. they just wouldn't know what it means.
as you can tell I have a fondness for making other people mistake wilbur and tommy for brothers before the two form that bond themselves
I don't think phil saw them off (I haven't actually decided yet so this is subject to change) but he wouldn't care about wilbur not wearing the ferronnière. tbh if he were to see them off and wilbur had been wearing it he probably would've told him to take it off because he wouldn't want wilbur to lose it

Isn't our last known confirmation of phil being not blonde may 20, since that would be when he got the aith asks for those videos? So he could have been blonde as early as the 20th and been prefilming blonde June stuff for the past week
got, doesn't mean filmed. and he asked for submissions at 11pm. so definitely not May 20 or May 21. and then it depends on how old/new were the stories from the 2nd video. i doubt he filmed all in one day. his hand is fine, hair looks a little bit different (quiff aside).
so i'd say, May 24-26. maaaybe May 23, but i doubt that. remember that youtube membership shoutouts were probably filmed last week as well. i suspect the weekend not only because of all this, but also, do you think he would not leave the house since May 21-22? because if he did and someone spotted him (remember, it's London) that would be insane. on the other hand, if someone spotted him blonde they might have not recognised him. it really depends on how good that someone could recognise Phil's posture and everything else. all i'm saying is that it would be risky. hmm.

I saw your tags on the arrow post and I would very much like to learn about the eye surgery thing but from your words bc I feel like I’ll learn in a more fun way than from googling it would u mind sharing?
Absolutely I will share thank you for asking this is one of the funniest things I've ever experienced in this particular class actually, which is really saying something because this was a class on archaic and classical Greece taught by a millennial, so you already know it’s wild as hell.
For a little bit of context, Phil loses his eye between 355 and 354. Up until that point, it’s been about 150 years of near constant tension, save for the 20 odd years between the end of the Persian War and the start of the Peloponnesian War (which is really just two wars strung together by a joke of a detente—I can tell you more about it another time). Athens lost the Pelop war, Sparta won, Sparta starts a hegemony, Lysander of Sparta installs oligarchies, Sparta Does Not Like That, Thebes comes in and starts their own hegemony, Macedon Does Not Like That, and Phil goes on a campaign to conquer Greece, and he’s got a preeeetty strong claim.
So there’s a whole lot of fighting. As you might figure, war comes with injuries, and if warriors wanted to live they had to figure out how to fix themselves before the infections got them. At this point in time, they're using missile weapons. Not like, actual modern style rocket missiles—I'm talking stones and arrows. One of these arrows found its way into Phil's eye, and this happened around 355–354, so like, ten years before Macedon's rise to real power in the Greek world, during Phil’s campaign around Greece.
There was this guy called Diocles who was a surgeon in Phil’s army, and surgeons didn’t actually do the surgeries themselves (sometimes they did but I can’t point out specific statistics, it’s not my field and I never went looking) but most of the time they would just hold the patient’s head and shoulders and direct assistants in the surgery. I can’t remember the actual reason for this and I could also have some facts mixed up, so don’t quote me on that specific bit.
Anyways, Phil had an arrow in his eye. Diocles had a spoon (pictured below). Phil was probably drugged up with unmixed wine and some other fancy plants used to get high because their version of anesthetics was alcomahol and weed (or alcohol and weed adjacent). Fast acting pain relief and all, except it doesn’t relieve pain it just inhibits like, all your pain receptors so you don’t feel anything until a day later and then you’re cussing out your surgeon.
Tumblr media
^that’s the spoon, it was meant for removing arrows. The hole in the middle is where you’d stick the shaft of the arrow through, so you’d press the back of the spoon against the wound, and then lever the arrow out. It sounds a little impractical and there’s not a whole lot of information but from what it looks like you can infer pretty well how it’s supposed to work.
Diocles removed the arrow from Phil’s eye with that spoon, and along with the arrow, he removed Phil’s eye. There’s some mention about an eyestalk in some text somewhere, I’d have to double check in my copy of Arrian, but I won’t go into that because it’s irrelevant and kinda gory.
So now, there’s about fifteen of us in this class, and, keep in mind that we’re all or mostly in our early twenties, which means we have verbal filters made of single ply toilet paper, and our professor is this millennial guy who regularly dresses like Charlie Swan from Twilight. Flannel and all. Truly one of my favourite professors.
We’re all so morbidly curious about ancient surgery, so we derail the class into a nice long discussion about known surgical methods and hypothetical surgical methods. Someone picks up on the fact that quite a few tools looked like modified cutlery (see: the spoon of Diocles). Someone else suggests unconventional methods of surgery, like a pneumatic contraption for bloodletting. A third person suggests combining the two into a straw, and then proceeds to detail how Diocles might have used a straw to yank Phil’s eyeball out.
My professor hears this, acknowledges this, and in true millennial new dad fashion goes, “Oh, like a boba!”
And I lost it. I told my entire family that story and received varying degrees of approval.
And that’s it! @androgynyispunkashell I’m sorry for taking so long to answer but I hope this was funny and (at least somewhat) informative!

Papa and J---- Chapter 4!
Author: shadowsong26
Rating: PG/PG-13
Fandom: Les Misérables
Characters: Technically all on-page characters are OCs; Valjean, Cosette, Marius, and Javert are discussed as historical personalities. Backstory Cosette/Marius and heavily implied Valjean/Javert.
Warnings: Nothing specific, I don’t think?
Summary: Euphrasie Pontmercy–known in the art world as La Jardinière–isn’t exactly a household name. Still, the sheer length of her active career (her work was first displayed and sold in 1839, and she left one last work unfinished at her death in 1910) makes her interesting to people who actually study that century in art. But as far as the historical record is concerned, Jardinière seems to have sprung semi-fully-formed from the streets of Paris somewhere in the mid-to-late 1820s. Other than the fact that she was educated in a convent, essentially nothing is known about her parents or her childhood.
Until now.
Or:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a PhD student with no thesis topic must be in want of an undiscovered painting to go absolutely feral over.
Disclaimer: All characters are the property of their respective creators.
Notes: Here we are with Chapter 4! It's been a while, hasn't it, lol. This chapter is mostly Logistical Stuff, but we get to see Phil again! still seriously considering finding someone to commission to actually make a version of the painting are any of y’all who might be artists interested/does anyone have any recommendations of artists who are open for commissions who do that kind of style
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3
Authenticating the painting wasn’t really a matter of lab testing. Most chemical analysis couldn’t date a painting more specifically than within fifty years or so of when it was painted. Which of course we did anyway, and that proved it wasn’t a modern forgery, at least.
My research into the development of paints and pigments during the nineteenth century also proved the painting didn’t use any colors that weren’t available in the mid-1830s, but that wasn’t exactly conclusive, either. Just because something was available didn’t mean it was used in every painting, after all.
Which meant it came down to comparing technique, and the inscription on the back--most of Jardinière’s paintings had a signature as well, but some, including this one, did not. I didn’t have immediate access to any of her very early works, but there were two paintings in reasonably local collections that I was also able to borrow. The earlier of the two was a painting of a street from her Calais period; the other was from the 1890s, a memory-portrait of the artist herself and one of her granddaughters in their respective wedding dresses, comparing the poofiness of their sleeves. (I have to admit, I love an artist with a sense of humor.)
Still, they were physical paintings that were known to be Jardinière’s work. The next step involved many, many hours of looking at all three paintings in very close detail, with Emma overseeing and offering her experience to help with authentication. There weren’t any specific experts in Jardinière’s work, exactly (“Though after you finish this research, you’ll probably qualify as one,” she had pointed out), but the bulk of Emma’s research had been into pre-Impressionist French painters, so she knew what to look for.
“I think,” she said, at somewhere around eleven pm on the sixth day after we’d gotten access to Souvenir de soixante ans, “that we can say this is a genuine Jardinière painting. The inscriptions on all three match, just like you thought, and while her technique definitely evolved, you can see some of the same detail work you noticed around the hands and eyes in Soixante ans.”
“Yes,” I breathed, with a silent fist pump of victory. “Which means I get to go ahead with the rest of the work.”
“Yeah,” she said. “Any changes to the plan from the last time we talked?”
I shook my head. “I’ve put out feelers to that museum in Marseille, along with a couple other collections in France and one in Dover. Most of them were willing to work with me and grant access to at least some of the behind-the-scenes papers that weren’t on display. Dover wanted to hold off until the painting was authenticated, so I’ll reach out to them again…tomorrow, probably. After sleep. I still need to line up a translator, too.”
“That should be your next step, before you travel anywhere further than Chicago,” Emma said. “If you still want to look at Inachevé in person. Did you talk to my usual guy?”
“I did,” I said. “He said he wasn’t sure he’d have time for a project of this scale until summer, though. And while I can do at least rough translations myself…”
“You don’t want to spend six months going down the wrong road,” she said. “Fair enough.”
“I’m going to check with the department here, see if there’s anyone they recommend, and then look into other freelancers,” I said.
“At least you’re working with nineteenth-century French sources,” Emma said.
“True,” I said. “Helpfully common.” Unlike my ex-girlfriend, who’d had to wade through seventh-century Greek for her research.
“That can wait ‘til morning, too,” she said. “It’s been a long day, and you’ve gotten past the first major hurdle.”
“Yeah,” I said. “Thanks for your help on this one.”
“It’s what I’m here for,” she said, and smiled.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~
The next day was all logistics--my absolute favorite part of any project. Back and forth with Dover and the various French collections; reaching out to a few other translators who had been recommended to me; and the absolute best part: budgeting.
Ugh.
Still, progress had been made; I had most of the permissions I needed and had worked out at least some of how I was going to pay for flights and so on. Waiting to hear back from some of the possible translators, so that was still up in the air but at least the momentum from the night before--finally officially authenticating the painting--had carried forward.
And, best of all, the day ended with another date with Phil.
Our third, actually, not counting the one I’d accidentally derailed with art-nerd brain. I was very proud of myself for managing to keep things on track after that. I mean, obviously, both of us talked a little bit about work, but not enough to make the night all about that.
“So, how long do you think you’ll be out of town?” he asked, when we made it back to my place with ice cream.
“Hard to say,” I said. “Some of it depends on what I find. At least a few weeks, though. And I’m not leaving, like, right now, I still have to work out some logistical detail bullshit.”
“Hey, some of us like the logistical detail bullshit,” he said, grinning.
“Really?”
“No, not really, planning travel kind of sucks,” he admitted. “But other detail stuff can be fun.”
“Right, you’re a math guy.” I flicked his nose affectionately and he rolled his eyes.
“It’s satisfying when it all comes together right,” he said. “Different kind of satisfying from when I was translating to pay the bills, but that was kind of fun, too. It’s all solving puzzles, you know? Just different kinds.”
“I get that,” I said. “Even if number-puzzles never really drew me in.”
“Not for everyone,” he agreed. “…actually, though.”
“What?”
“You said you were still looking for a translator?”
“I am,” I said. “Why?”
“Just…I don’t know,” he said. “My other language is French, I’m not sure I told you that?”
“Uh…no, I don’t think you did,” I said, sitting up. “Wait, are you offering?”
“I mean,” he said, sitting up as well, facing me. “If it wouldn’t be…I don’t know, I don’t know what all the rules are? Since it’s my family’s history, and since we’re…is it too early to say dating?” He flushed a little, which was adorable.
“I don’t think so? It is your story as well. We’d need to put together a specific work contract and everything, but…wait, let me actually…” I reached over and grabbed my phone from the nightstand to send a quick email to Emma. If she didn’t know the actual answer, she’d know who to ask, at least.
“Right,” he said. “So…I guess let me know what she says? Because I’m. Uh. If it’s not against the rules or whatever, I’m interested in helping out.”
“Great,” I said. Then, because I definitely hadn’t forgotten the other question, “And…yeah, I think I would say we’re dating,” I added, leaning forward to give him a quick kiss.
“All right, then,” he said, with a smile, kissing me back, which put a pretty decisive end to any work talk for the evening.
Emma wasn’t going to get back to me before morning, anyway.

Phil 4:4-7
Brothers and sisters:
Rejoice in the Lord always.
I shall say it again:  rejoice!
Your kindness should be known to all.
The Lord is near.
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
make your requests known to God.
Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Alleluia

Is 61:1 (cited in Lk 4:18)
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
--------
Lk 3:10-18
The crowds asked John the Baptist,
“What should we do?”
He said to them in reply,
“Whoever has two cloaks
should share with the person who has none.
And whoever has food should do likewise.”
Even tax collectors came to be baptized and they said to him,
“Teacher, what should we do?”
He answered them,
“Stop collecting more than what is prescribed.”
Soldiers also asked him,
“And what is it that we should do?”
He told them,
“Do not practice extortion,
do not falsely accuse anyone,
and be satisfied with your wages.”
Now the people were filled with expectation,
and all were asking in their hearts
whether John might be the Christ.
John answered them all, saying,
“I am baptizing you with water,
but one mightier than I is coming.
I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
His winnowing fan is in his hand to clear his threshing floor
and to gather the wheat into his barn,
but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”
Exhorting them in many other ways,
he preached good news to the people.

FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD
I LOVE Christmas music. I know some will argue that the liturgical season of Christmas doesn’t begin until Christmas Day and that listening to Christmas music in early December limits the importance of Advent. Even so, I soak up all the Christmas music I can get, in part because many of the traditional Christmas songs can teach us something vital about our upcoming celebrations. For example, O Come All Ye Faithful tells us that people are “joyful and triumphant” at their arrival in Christ’s birth town of Bethlehem. O Come O Come Emmanuel implores the people to “rejoice, rejoice” because captive Israel is ransomed. Joy to the World expresses the inherent excitement of the reign of the new Savior. It isn’t often that religious truth is so blatantly and openly expressed to the masses.
This is perhaps best expressed in the famous God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. While the gentlemen celebrate “tidings of comfort and joy,” they don’t do so because of some vague Christmas season or a generic hope for friendship amongst mankind. No, they have comfort and joy because Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day “to save us all from Satan’s power when we were gone astray.” We celebrate on Christmas not because the power of the season will get me through another year, but because Jesus Christ has entered the battle against my ancient enemy, Satan. While modern Christmas songs gloss over this, the traditional hymns highlight that it is the Son of God entering the fight that leads to the joy of the season.
It is for this reason that the priest wears pink, or rose, on this third Sunday of Advent. Known as “Gaudete,” (rejoice) Sunday, the pink candle in the Advent Wreath is a reminder of the explosive power of the season. We receive reminders of the reason for this joy all throughout the readings this weekend, and it is always connected with the presence of the Savior. The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all…Cry out with joy and gladness; for among you is the great and Holy One of Israel…The Lord is in your midst, you have no further misfortune to fear. Yes, this is a season joy and celebration, but only because Jesus Christ has become a human to save us from “Satan’s power.” Our modern world attributes all the joy of this season to some generic good feeling that comes this time of year. Nothing could be less helpful or further from the truth. Christmas is only a season of celebration because Jesus Christ has entered the arena against His ancient enemy, and we know who comes out on top.
What comes next for us? The great C.S. Lewis touches on this in his magnificent Mere Christianity: “Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us to take part in a great campaign of sabotage.” Jesus Christ was born on a dark, lonely night in Bethlehem, behind enemy lines, and now is ready to fight the ancient evil. This deserves a grand celebration. But He has invited me into the fight, into the sabotage against the ancient enemy who had reign over the earth since Adam and Eve. Yes, this season brings rejoicing, leads to us being joyful and triumphant, and grants us comfort and joy. But we still have a role in the fight. The pink candle and vestment invite me into the great battle, where the Word became flesh and “saved us all from Satan’s power.” Between now and Christmas, what do I need to do to more fully enter the battle? Invite someone to Confession or Mass? Get myself to Confession? Be generous with someone in need? Whatever the case may be, may our celebrations this weekend and this entire season lead us into greater appreciation for the Word Made Flesh and our entry into the battle next to Him.

Kissimmee Florida is directly south of Orlando about 7 miles. It is not far from there and our son and daughter say Orlando is not too far from here it was about an hour and a half from Bradenton and that's what all right it's about right and Bradenton is about an hour from here which is about true to get to Orlando it takes an hour and 45 minutes from here if you're really moving and kisseme is about it about a 2-hour drive you have to actually go south a little. It's not very far it's a good drive it takes a while to get there but it's really not long I am to get up there I guess he would have to get a ride and that's kind of a pain for people but they want to do it it is and they might have a relative nearby and that was said and it's going to be just a one-day event and it might be coming up shortly Uncle Phil was friends with Frank he's been known to be down here and we know where he is he is Naples and he probably wants someone on the ride and yeah Aunt Rose would be with him it's really a tough one they don't want to go to the funeral and our son doesn't want it but if they have to they'll go out there it's not much money we're sitting around. 2019-2024
There isn't much left of 2024, and if you're wondering why I'm cramming half a decade into a single post, it's because I didn’t do the greatest job documenting the highlights of my life other than in journals after 2018. Starting next year, I’m going to get back on track with that. I'll go back to tweeting about what's happening and include the more important events in my yearly reviews.
For now, I’ll highlight everything that comes to mind, although it might not necessarily be in chronological order. I figured that if something doesn’t come to mind, then it wasn’t very important.
In late 2019, I finally gave my sister and her equally twisted offspring a piece of my mind regarding their lying, narcissistic, toxic ways. They ended up threatening, stalking, harassing, and cyberbullying me for a few months afterward. I had a shitty phone with no blocking capability back then, so I had to get a new number.
I totally regret letting them back into my life and never will again under any circumstances. No amount of apologies, promises, or rewards could ever get me to change my mind! I'm almost embarrassed it took me so long to learn that people really don’t change. They may claim they have, and they may seem different at first, but don’t let wishful thinking distort reality! The way she treated me when I lived near her should have been lesson enough. I should have known better than to take her back after what she and her ex put me through in Maricopa and the grief she and her brats caused me in Auburn. That was a truly dumb move on my part.
Thanks to her example, her daughters have followed in her footsteps. It was when I realized I was ashamed to be their aunt that I knew I wanted nothing to do with them or their mother. The way they treated me was utterly appalling. Quite often, our true family isn’t bound by DNA.
Because of the close connection and the discomfort it caused, I decided to make a clean break from all family members, including those I had never had a problem with. I felt a bit of guilt about my extended family, but I knew that sometimes we have to prioritize ourselves. It was time to start doing what I had failed to do for years.
My first cousins were already ghosting me, so there were no ties to cut there. I tried reaching out to Lori and Lisa, but I got nothing but radio silence in return. Nothing from Polly, and Phil went quiet on me after a few message exchanges.
COVID-19 began spreading, and my husband was laid off in early 2020. It turned out to be perfect timing since he wouldn’t risk getting sick, especially since it would be over a year before we could get vaccinated. He collected unemployment and then retired at 62.
We realized it was an ideal time to move once the vaccine became available, and I realized my strong feelings about not staying until he was over 65 actually meant something.
The beginning of 2021 was horrible. My beloved friend Aly was hospitalized with numerous symptoms, including constant coughing, swelling in her legs, and more. By then, we had grown very close and loved each other like sisters. We had planned to meet the previous year because she and her boyfriend were going to visit California, but COVID and her illness changed that.
Before being hospitalized, she had been misdiagnosed with Crohn's disease. It was later confirmed she had a mass on her ovary. I felt absolutely horrible for her. She was a true magnet for cancer, having already battled breast cancer in both breasts and undergone a double mastectomy before she turned 30. Now, at just 40, she had to undergo surgery to remove the mass. During the operation, her bowel was perforated, and she required a stoma.
My heart broke as we exchanged messages on Skype like we had nearly every day for over a year. She told me she'd heard of people beating the odds but couldn’t see herself being one of them. Soon after, she messaged me saying her stoma had become infected, and she was being rushed back into surgery. Then came her final message in early May, one I’ll never forget: I'm going to die. All they're doing is giving me comfort care. This sucks. I've hardly lived. I hope my parents’ neighbor can figure out my phone to let you know when it happens.
At first, I chalked it up to her feeling shitty and being in a bad mood because of it. But when a day passed without word, I started to worry. After two days, I knew something was wrong. Sure enough, her neighbor texted me, fulfilling Aly's request to notify me. She had developed sepsis due to the infection, and her body was too weak to fight it. I have missed her SO much ever since!
Also, Stephan’s (Steve) brother says he died around the same time, but I could never find any obituary or grave listing. I wondered if it was true or if he was just saying that. Before this, I found a number for Stephan in Massachusetts and called, only to end up speaking with a very hostile woman I suspect might have been his wife. He must have been there in the room with her because she told him I was someone he knew in the '90s before telling me he wasn’t coming to the phone. I felt a bit hurt, as I had wondered about him for many years, always wishing we could reconnect. So, I’m not sure if he really died or not, but if he did, that’s a really sad thought. I wonder if it could have been COVID.
I also found and reached out to Nissan on Facebook, but she never replied. Same thing with a few other people, including Randy, the really friendly mailman up in Oregon. I learned his last name from another mail carrier who forwarded my info to Randy. All he did was Google me. He never actually reached out.
I informed Kim and Molly of Aly's passing. Molly’s mother passed away a few years prior. I felt a little bad for Molly, but otherwise, I didn’t feel bad at all considering how much the mother was in on the bullying I endured years ago.
Kim was no longer allowed online as her sister finally caught on that she was stalking, harassing, and impersonating people. So I got the word to her through her sister, who still has custody of her. Kim had a phone but no browser installed. She only had an email provider. We exchanged emails nearly every day until she ghosted me for agreeing with her sister regarding her obsessive nature. As with Paula, I was mostly glad she dumped me because she was a pain in the ass to deal with. Her sister said she was autistic and the equivalent of a 5-year-old. While I understood that she couldn’t help the way she was, I was also sick of the stupidity, the repetition, and the blatant lies that I knew she damn well knew she was telling. She still had a basic understanding of right and wrong. So no, I don’t miss the mile-long emails telling me the same shit over and over.
Not that I care to connect with Molly regularly since she too had her share of mental and emotional problems and was mostly overly clingy, Kathy and I noticed that she no longer seemed to have an online presence.
Yes, Kathy. I reached out to her and we reconnected after more than a decade. Other than that, I tried to no longer reach out to those who don’t reach out to me first. I figure, why should it always be me to make the first move? Let someone else show how much they care for once and reach out to me first.
After 29 years in the West, we left California and moved to Florida in July of 2021. We moved into a smaller home in a quieter, more rural area. It’s not perfect—there are more planes than I’d like—but it’s a million times better than the old park. I only hear landscaping once a week, and I don’t hear tons of projects. The water is on consistently, and there is little loud traffic. What I do hear is mostly motorcycles. Some of the neighbors I like, some I don’t, and some I don’t even know. I avoid people for the most part, not just because I’m not sociable to begin with, but because there are so many conservatives here. Yeah, people do have the right to their own beliefs and opinions, but I don’t really fancy the idea of hanging with anti-gay, anti-Jew, anti-women God fantasizers.
I consider myself agnostic—not sure if there is a God or not—but leaning more towards atheism for a variety of reasons. I just feel like I’m a little too old to have an imaginary friend that hasn’t been proven scientifically in any way. I also don’t buy a lot of the shit in the Bible. Never have, never will.
Another thing I like about the place is that many of the homes, including the one to one side of us and across the street, are empty half of the year because there are many snowbirds from the North, including Canada.
We were surprised to learn that there’s a dry season and a wet season. The rainy months are mostly July, August, and September. It’s not as humid during the other months, and they only mow every other week at that time. I hate it when the summer thunderstorms wake me up, but I love the storms otherwise. It gets a little nerve-wracking during hurricane season, though. There are more power outages here, even when it’s not storming.
The house is a little newer, built in 1990, and not as big as I’d like at around 1,000 square feet. It’s a cute little place, though. A place with a little more space would be nice, especially since we’ve gotten totally addicted to virtual reality. Since it’s humid here a lot of the time and treadmills are boring, it would be really hard to push myself to work out if it weren’t for VR. I use a glider to travel the world. It’s an app that lets you travel wherever Google Street View has mapped. Plus, he and I play miniature golf every day. I also have a meditation app, boxing, and other things.
I’ve been addicted to all things AI since it hit the scene big time in 2023. I swear I must ask ChatGPT millions of questions every day! It’s great for double-checking the correctness of my journals and stories as well.
I’m not impressed with the healthcare and the people in general here. They just don’t seem as friendly. Rarely can I bitch about slow drivers holding us up either. They drive like maniacs here, and there are always accidents. Always.
My health has gotten better, but then it hasn’t. It seems I always have problems. I’m fully menopausal now, so much of the anxiety has backed off, which is good, but I still have trouble sleeping and was even diagnosed with sleep apnea.
I’ve also had a tooth pulled, my dental bridge replaced, and my gallbladder removed. Currently, at the end of 2024, I have nasal issues interfering with my sleep, along with a few other things. My biggest problem these last few years has been fatigue. My first go with the CPAP was a fail, but now I’m getting desperate enough to use it once I get another one.
For many years I’ve believed that 4 is a very unlucky number, and 2024 is definitely not ending well. Hopefully, next year I can get my nasal issues (collapsed nasal valve?) and sleep apnea dealt with so I can finally have some decent energy. Fingers crossed!

following Christ
"and he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me." matt 10:38
i did not say that. our Lord Jesus Christ said that. i see the shallowness of what is commonly called "faith" these days and i wonder how many are constructing their own sword of demise. i think of another warning from our Lord. "because you say, ‘i am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked." rev 3:17
i'm not just talking of all the prosperity preachers but those who willingly corrupt scripture to match their evil desires. and then there are those who disguise true worship as entertainment instead of spiritual surrender to the Lord of Glory. "these are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. they are clouds without water, carried about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots." jude 1:12
we so easily claim the victories of Christ while considering the fellowship of His suffering a lack of faith. "that i may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death." phil 3:10 i wonder if we can really know one without the other.
are we greater than Christ? maybe we'll just step it down a notch. are we greater than the apostle paul? read on. "from the Jews five times i received forty stripes minus one. three times i was beaten with rods; once i was stoned; three times i was shipwrecked; a night and a day i have been in the deep." 2 cor 11:24-25 that not even mentioning the "minor" skirmishes he endured for Christ. and he was not alone in his trials. indeed most of the disciples and early believers shared in the sufferings of Jesus, and in that fellowship they came to know and be known.
i'm not saying we should run towards the misery and anguish, but neither should we shrink from it if it be the cross our Lord has allowed us. "for to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake." phil 1:29 certainly we battle, stand and believe for deliverance, but we trust God is our keeper.
i certainly do not know why one is born into one condition and another not, why hardship is placed on one and another not, why one is graced with visions and supernatural encounters and another not. "Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty. neither do i concern myself with great matters, nor with things too profound for me. surely i have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me." psa 131:1-2
"let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. for He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” heb 13:5 is that not enough for us - to be in the center of His will? "does not the Potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?" rom 9:21
"therefore i take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. for when i am weak, then i am strong." 2 cor 12:10 it's not about the "i" in me - it's about the "Jesus" in me. "i have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer i who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which i now live in the flesh i live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." gal 2:20
we are not the author of the script or do we decide what part we play. i will not boast in my accomplishments nor drown in my failures. "but in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." 2 tim 2:20-21
so is there anything at all we can do that might affect our position. the scripture above seems to indicate so. it is only the washing of the water of the word that can cleanse and keep us. all our righteousness is as filthy rags, but we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. let us wash, wash, wash, and He will transform us into His very own image.
it's not about how good we are, but how useful we are; how obedient. a friend sent me a link to an inspiring video the other day, and i would like to share it with you. the meat of the matter begins at about four minutes in and last for less than ten. if you have limited viewing time. it may be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2FZRh97xqw&t=725s
"finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things." phil 4:8
the following is among my favorite scriptures. i have it on my wall and refer to it often. "and He said to them, be careful what you are hearing. the measure of thought and study you give to the truth you hear will be the measure of virtue and knowledge that comes back to you — and more besides will be given to you who hear." mark 4:24 ampc
"Christ in you, the hope of glory." col 1:27

that’s it I’m designing movie posters. If this gets enough traction maybe one day I’ll write a script, but I’m not writing all of this: this is just here to give y’all an idea of how I think a DSMP movie series might function if I had a billion dollars XD
The TCU (Technoblade Cinematic Universe) is as follows:
Emduo Origins Films - (Two very good standalone films, technically prequels, set up a lot of worldbuilding and the entirety of the Emduo characters, but aren’t technically required watching until Child of Revolution) :
ANTARCTIC EMPIRE - (Described in detail above XD)
COVENANT - (Three decades after the events of Empire, Techno is aging. Phil is not. Techno decides he’d like to do more with his life than rule, and goes on a trip with Phil to find a mythical totem said to be capable of resurrecting the dead. He finds it. He also finds godhood. Heavily based on the early Orphan’s Path worldbuilding and Techno/Philza qpr)
Ma’beren Trilogy (#ControversialbutBrave, Tommy-centric for most of the main plot, known as ‘the ones that’re basically the two original Star Wars trilogies layered atop one another.’ Ie rebellion + senate politics) :
Child of Revolution - (Thomas Innes is a street kid in the underlayer of Ma’beren when he meets (a replacement character for He Who Shall Not Be Named) Icarus Craft, the charismatic only mortal son of a lost god. He’s magnetic, persuasive, and utterly mad. Tommy would, and does, follow him into hell for the sake of his city. He’s fourteen at the time.)
Child of Corruption - (Two years after the events of Revolution, Icarus is rapidly loosing the support of his followers. His madness is devolving, and his treatment of his friends is getting worse. He runs an election to try and drum up political support, then looses. Tommy is sixteen when he follows Icarus into hell for the second time. This is the first film that hints at the existence of Pandora’s box as an immortal impenetrable labyrinth that at all times must contain at least one prisoner and one Warden, a mortal whom it chooses and changes, corrupting them and extending their lifespan that they might better serve the prison. It’s implied that Dream is manipulating things from the shadows and that Pandora is going to be a part of his future plans. )
Child of Destruction - (Homeless and desperate, Icarus turns to an old ally for help while his few loyal followers attempt to overthrow the new regime from the inside. Tommy isn’t sure about this new guy; something about him smacks of something Other. But he’s all they have. Tommy is just going to have to get used to Techno. And he does: right up until he critically injures his best friend, and Icarus bombs the entire city, and Tommy realizes all at once that he is Not equipped to be the sole hero of this story.)
Sequel Trilogy - (considering the general defeatist approach to the nature of mankind in the first three films, they attracted a Rather Specific brand of fan. The Sequel Trilogy is divisive because while it remains extremely grim, dipping into topics the Ma’Beren trilogy didn’t even touch, it ends on a note of hope and the conclusion that people are kind, that good will triumph, that no suffering will endure forever. Not a lot of original trilogy fans much cared for that notion: but it did attract quite a few new fans, so it wasn’t a total bust):
EXILE - (the longest film in the entire TCU other than Axe of Peace: Ma’beren is rebuilding on shaky legs. Tommy is framed for the destruction of a citizen’s home and is exiled, ending up in the clutches of a man who has until now been a side or background character (Dream) but is now obviously more important than we realized. Meanwhile, Techno has attempted to retire with Phil, but due to Magic Reasons cannot leave entirely (he’s the god of Justice, try as he might to give them mercy. If he wants to let Ma’Beren rebuild, he must stay close and wait until enough generations have passed that they no longer bear the guilt of their forefathers.) Also unfortunately, Ma’beren isn’t interested in letting such a powerful figure remain unbothered just outside their borders. The Butcher army arc happens, and the totem from COVENANT makes an appearance during the execution. The film ends after Tommy leaves exile and Techno returns from the execution, on the “Welcome Home, Theseus!” Line. SAD-ist is a queen and her work should be treated as such.)
DOOMSDAY - (Everything from Tommy finding Techno in his retirement home to the events of Doomsday, along with a lot of syndicate stuff and Ranboo’s connections to Dream, kinda shuffled about to fit the arc. Ranboo is implied to join the Syndicate on Phil’s invite in a post-credits scene that also rather blatantly reveals that Dream is Pulling Strings.)
OZYMANDIAS - (the expected finale of the entire TCU, Tommy and Tubbo, who is running Snowchester as a camp for the survivors of Doomsday, hunt down Dream while Techno bonds with Ranboo and re-examines his life priorities, coming to the conclusion that he doesn’t regret Doomsday, but he does regret how much he hurt Tommy. There is also a pretty obvious relationship budding between Ran and Tubbo. Michael is a refugee kid. Ends the majority of the extended cast showing up in That Scene where Dream gets arrested, saving them, and implying that, while Techno isn’t there, he did arm and mobilize most of them to Tommy’s side and put in the grunt work of finding Dream’s hidden lair. Sam appears, revealing that he’s been chosen as Pandora’s Warden, and offers to imprison Dream.)
Casino Royal - A Ma’Beren Story - (Released in the period of a few years between Pandora’s announcement and release, clearly meant to be a shock of something new for the fan base that hadn’t had much content in a while. Focused on Quackity’s character throughout the majority of the previous films, his creation of Las Nevadas after Doomsday and his discovery of a magical artifact that can control the new Warden (Awesamdude) of Pandora’s Box, ending with the implication of him using it to torture Dream in prison and mess with Sam’s head. Rated significantly darker than the rest of the TCU, possibly R, similar in humor to Deadpool but without the fourth wall breakage.)
The Pandora Duology - (the fans of the TCU were generally ok with the end of the sequel trilogy, but there was a pretty vocal movement of fans unsatisfied with both Dream’s end and Tommy’s arc. They felt his character wasn’t given enough time and space to really recover from the trauma he went through, and none of the rest of the characters really redeemed themselves for their treatment of him. They also weren’t satisfied with the hanging question of Beeduo’s relationship and the purpose of the syndicate, which was created and then didn’t really… Do anything. Then, four years down the line, there’s an announcement out of the blue, and Everyone Looses Their Minds.)
PANDORA - (Tommy, slowly healing his various broken relationships and living with Tubbo in Snowchester (Ranboo lives in the arctic enclave, but he’s Always Visiting) visits Dream in the prison in an attempt at closure. This desire for closure is set up as the basis of these two films: very few of the characters have actually gotten closure on the stuff that happened to them, and they’re looking for it in the wrong places. Tommy isn’t over his abuse or his ruined relationship with Techno and Hence: Tommy Prison Visit.
Sam, who has been pretty blatantly shown to be loosing his mind for the past several films, traps Tommy in the prison, seemingly in an attempt to ‘keep the server safe from him,’ making it incredibly clear to the audience Exactly what the writers think about people who view Tommy as a danger or a nuisance. Ranboo is also involved in this whole debacle, clearly mind-controlled. Theres less of a time span where Tommy is trapped: he dies pretty much immediately and brutally at Dream’s hands. Everyone is furious, but Sam manages through a lot of Lore and a lot of “I have no idea what happened, the prison itself is Flipping Out” to keep people from killing him, attacking Pandora’s Box, or demanding Dream’s head, and the server goes into mourning. Tubbo is clearly unstable after the news, and Techno is putting his rage and grief into the Syndicate, subtly monitoring Tubbo in case he becomes a government. They suspect something’s up, but nobody  discovers Ranboo’s sleepwalking and mind control until he appears, completely under control, drops a note ‘from Dream’ in Techno’s lap, and vanishes. Techno heads to the prison to confront both Dream and Sam, Ranboo is still missing, and the rest of the Syndicate starts pulling in favors and prepping for an assault. Techno steps aside with Phil before he leaves, handing him a small bound book with a “just in case.” Upon arrival, he finds that Sam is missing, Quackity is there, and Dream is in Very Bad Shape. Quackity sent that note. He wants techno dead, and he gloats that Sam is headed to Snowchester for Michael, so soon Ranboo and Tubbo will be under his thumb too. Techno has faith that the syndicate can handle Sam so he lets himself get caught.
When they get to the cell, everything stops. Tommy has been revived. Dream’s original plan was to use his favor for Techno to get him out and give him control of the prison, leaving Tommy as The One Prisoner, (after all, the last he actually saw of Techno was Doomsday: he didn’t show up for the finale of Ozymandias.) but Techno has no intention of paying that debt, and Quackity is a wrench in the works. He’s panicked, revealed himself too soon, and possibly lost the last thing that could have given him an ‘out’ of the Box considering Snowchester knows about Ranboo. In the ensuing conflict, the Box itself rebels against what’s happening within it, vicious and unpredictable without its Warden there to control it, though nobody’s sure what’s set it off. Tommy and Quackity barely escape while Techno and Dream are stuck in the prison, the labyrinth contorting and expanding within itself, hellish creatures of rot and mechanics emerging from every corner. Quackity, once free and without control of Sam or the prison, has no need of Tommy, so he lets him go, and the first thing Tommy sees is his own grave. The movie ends on that shot. Cue the audience screaming. Everyone is Certain that the next film is gonna be a return to Original Series form: everyone dies and is sad, the word is evil, people are inherently bad, etc. they’re Not Happy, but they’re also Desperate for answers. Perfect. )
AXE OF PEACE - (The Actual finale of the TCU. The Syndicate (Niki, Ranboo, Phil,) and the remaining members of Snowchester (Jack, Tubbo, Puffy, Foolish, Eret. The Egg plot line is very tangential/not mentioned in the TCU) are mid-battle prep, trying desperately to find where Sam has gone and where Michael might be hidden. Children cant be held in Pandora’s Box; it’s an old rule, woven into the magic itself. They can visit, but once they’re ‘prisoners,’ the entire place looses cohesion, so he can’t be there. That’s partially why the prison lost its mind over Tommy after he was revived. (Sam didn’t know this when he trapped Tommy, but he’s learned by now.) Speaking of which: Ranboo, freshly wiped and really confused, has found a Very Alive Thomas Innes at the site of his own grave and brings him back to Snowchester, expecting to find a relieved husband very good friend, happy kid-he-hangs-out-that’s-not-his-son-he-swears, and joyful populace. Instead, Everything Is In Chaos, and everyone knows he’s being controlled by Dream. His secrets are rather out in the open now as well, he doesn’t understand what people are talking about, and he panics when confronted, leaving the safety of the walls and getting immediately Yoinked by Sam.
Sam has Officially Snapped and is gathering everyone and everything he thinks might pose even the slightest danger to the Box, having left Michael in his old home from back when he was… well, human. Tommy relays the “dream and Techno are both in the prison, Quackity is still a Problem,’ situation, and Boy is his relationship with Tubbo strained right now. But they don’t have the time to break down: they have a kid to find, a Syndicate to get off their lawn cause they have No Interest in helping them free Techno, and- holy crap where’s Ranboo?
Cue the Breakout Arc, complete with cooperation between the Syndicate and Snowchester, finding Dream’s compass to the prison plans in some of Techno’s old Doomsday stuff, and Tommy playing Techno’s role as front man. also a whole lotta Horrifying Eldritch Crap that the prison is pulling in an effort to keep its prisoners contained and alive while they’re trying to escape and also kill each other. They ‘meet’ (see the bones of) the former ‘only prisoner’ of the Box, an old man who’d been artificially kept alive by the Box itself in order to keep the number of prisoners at ‘at least one.’ Niki gets an excellent scene with a bunch of Withers, but after everything they don’t manage to get Techno away from Dream: if one of them goes, so does the other, and it’s unclear exactly What the Box will do without a single prisoner. Techno won’t risk it, and he won’t risk Dream escaping without him someday in the future. With a “This is for Theseus, you bastard.” He beheads him with the Axe of Peace, which he found in an armory along with a lot of other miscellaneous gear. It was taken off of Tommy before he entered the prison with Dream, and Tommy had it because Techno gave it to him. Techno got it from Phil upon their decision to throw a coup back in ANTARCTIC EMPIRE. Things have come full circle, leaving Techno alone as The Only Prisoner.
There’s a very emotional scene with Tommy and Ranboo when they find him. (And also the beheaded Dream, Tommy has a Moment about that) They can’t bear to leave Techno alone to be trapped forever now that it’s clear they all care a lot about one another, but can’t do anything to save him. Tommy calls Techno ‘brother.’ Techno calls him Theseus again. Tommy promises to find a way to get him out. it’s great, very sad. X
Tommy and Ranboo exit the prison to a convoluted Mexican Standoff: Quackity has Michael and the amulet, and Sam is too far gone to resist him anymore, while the Syndicate has an immense quantity of firepower and Tubbo is honestly considering nuking Pandora. Phil realizes what’s happened when Tommy and Ran emerge Techno-less, and some quick thinking and teamwork gets Tubbo the amulet. He orders Sam to reveal Michael’s location and arrest Quackity, hoping to get Techno out, but Sam has reached his breaking point: he takes Quackity, but he decides to use his position as Warden for one last essentially-suicidal act, unmooring it from its foundations and vanishing entirely into the void between worlds, taking Techno with him and rendering the amulet useless for Lore reasons. (There are so many maguffins I’m hand waving here for the sake of condensing the plot of this Dang Series, there could be like eight more films, plz give me a break)
Time cut of like two days while everyone calms down and Eret and Tubbo go get Michael. The Syndicate and Snowchester are finally free of Dream, Quackity, and Sam, but Techno is gone. Tommy, Ranboo, Tubbo, and Phil gather in one of the Syndicate meeting rooms after the victory party, tired and sad. Phil pulls out the book he hasn’t had the time to read, flipping through it to reveal a ‘Last Will and Testament.’ They read it, but something feels off. Phil, Ran, and Tubbo give up on it pretty quickly, but after sitting alone with it for a while, staring at “I hope Tommy finds whatever it is he’s looking for,” and trying not to cry, Tommy puts together that Techno has left a message in code: the blueprints of a teleportation system. He’s confused for a bit, but then it clicks and he’s up checking corners: Techno left this as a last resort. It’s entirely possible he already made the teleporter.
Meanwhile, in the Box outside of reality: Quackity finds Techno in the labyrinth. Closure is the name of the game; Q wants closure for his eye, Techno wants closure for the horrifying pain of resurrection and Q’s pushing Sam to go ballistic and lock Tommy in with Dream. This isn’t the first we’ve heard of the pain of using a totem: the scars are pretty obvious. But this is the first Techno has willingly spoken about it, and it’s gruesome. It’s, in the main series at least, the most vulnerable we’ve seen Techno. Q attacks him, but Techno is obviously not really concerned about its winning; he’s debating whether dying and letting Quackity languor here for eternity is more satisfying than killing him and staying. Then, just as he seems to have made a decision and Q is *this close* to killing him, the teleporter kicks in.
Techno finds himself knocked to the floor of a Syndicate meeting room with a hugfull of sobbing Tommy. The rest of the gang come back to check on Tom after the noise only to find Techno, crying for the first time in the entire series (other than the prequels) and Lose Their Minds. Phil looses it a bit, grabbing Techno by the shoulders and wrapping him in wings we haven’t really seen him use since the explosion when Icarus died.
Tubbo and Techno have a Rather Tense interaction over Phil’s and Tommy’s shoulders, (they are still very much crying,) but Tubbo pretty quickly extends the olive branch of ‘we’re gonna need someone to teach Michael about his heritage.’ And they seem chill. Ranboo is just waiting for his turn to hug.
The movie ends with an Actual Good Ending: Techno, Phil, Tommy, Tubbo, Ranboo, and Michael safe. There’s an epilogue/ end credits scene of Techno watching Tommy teach Michael to sword fight while Phil and Tubbo compare mechanical blueprints on their latest projects in the bg. Ranboo is braiding Techno’s hair. Everyone is happy. Because I said so. So there.)
.
(WHEN I TELL YOU HOW LONG THIS TOOK- I swear the DSMP is so painfully long and complicated and I didn’t want to bring in any of the ghost or respawn mechanics when the main character that stuff applies to has been replaced and rewritten for Content Creator Reasons and I wanted it to end well and I didn’t want to add some of the story beats that were clearly only there for ‘Techno is Sick’ reasons and I didn’t think I could float Techno&Tommy reconciliation with Techno breaking Dream out of prison unless I wrote like eight more films and I got Tired, so There. That’s my TCU. Forgive me for my lack of detail on the worldbuilding and the characters who aren’t my main 5, this was not supposed to be this long or involved. Hope you enjoyed, drink water, God bless 💜)
so we can all agree that the newest 2WEI song (take the crown) is the trailer song for an Antarctic Empires Emerald Duo pg14 movie where Techno is a gladiator who earned his freedom and has vowed to destroy the government that enslaved him and Philza is an old demigod banished to a solitary plane of existence for five decades after attempting to run a coup against the ruling class.
They meet on a battlefield, Techno having joined up as brute muscle and Phil having used some minor illusions to pass as a quirky avian and join the bombardment team. Combining some similar plot beats as Oceans 11 and Atlantis: The Lost Empire, they gather a specialized team of insurrectionists, anarchists, battle mages, and warriors to take down the imperium from the inside, eventually planning on restoring the nation to the democracy it was in Phil’s earliest memories. But will they manage it, or will their bloody pasts and violent present seat Technoblade on the throne as the Antarctic Emperor, with Philza as his right hand, the Angel of Death? (Spoiler, the second option. It’s the most controversial film finale decision of the decade.)
The movie is filmed in a style somewhere between Dune 1, the Prince of Egypt, and Topgun. (denis villeneuve is too busy and too expensive, but it’s clear they’re taking inspiration. Bold colors and lighting and a lot of shots of the sky, wildlife, architecture, or of characters’ hands.) It’s scored by an up and coming indie musician, working under the consultation of Ludwig Gorannson in his spare time as a pet project, though his association with the film doesn’t really come out until it Smashes the expected theatre income in the first two days of release and critics start Raving about it. Techno’s actor is nominated for an Oscar for one of the most compelling intricate portrayals of ptsd and platonic devotion in modern cinema, but doesn’t actually get the Oscar.
Tumblr is flooded with gif sets of Techno in the Obligatory No Armor After Gladiator Fight Scene and the Late Night Vibing With Phil In A Loose Poet Shirt scene (firelit, lots of closeups of his eyes, the film is obviously attempting to express his complex emotional state and his deep relationship with Phil, and is failing miserably at doing Anything but making him hot. The internet is ✨gay✨ about it, because when is the internet not?) Also most of the simps are calling Phil a dilf.
Fit MC is the fan-favorite side character, his four scenes and nine lines of dialogue are clipped and edited and giffed and memed into the dirt. (His armor and prosthetic, the makeup and costuming department say, were the hardest thing to do in the entire film, which is why he isn’t in too many shots.) Though, a close second is Niki, who is played by a woman built like a brick house who doesn’t wear sleeves, so…. Yeah. We all know what the response is there. The effects, including Phil’s wings, are almost entirely practical and the only real places it gets iffy is Steve, the giant war polar bear that’s pretty clearly clipping through a few snowbanks here and there. Nobody can agree on which characters are morally reprehensible.
Within a few years, very few people outside a dedicated fan base have seen it and a few assume it’s made up like Goncharov. It’s also, for some ungodly reason, been labeled a Christmas film. (most of the plot happens in the ice and snow, hence ‘Antarctic Empire.’) I guess nothing says ‘Christmas spirit’ quite like ‘unmitigated violence, platonic yearning, and overthrowing oppressors.’
