This is my daily struggle, I had so many arguments with people with off-leash dogs (in a mandatory leash area!!!). Thanks to this behavior I'm struggling with Kim being anxious/aggressive with other females as she often gets involved in unpleased interactions with free females while on leash. And every single time that I ask for the dog to be at least recalled, I'm being called names and insulted of course.

Also 9 out of 10 their dog isn't really that friendly at all.

My Furnace Broke :(

Hi kids, it's your favorite storytelling chicken, and my Furnace has decided to die. It also decided to take the A/C unit out with it.

This is both very expensive to fix, and also kind of urgent: the more observant of you may have noticed that it is November, and getting onto winter here in the Rockies.

Look at this little man, huddling on my feet for warmth.

I have *some* emergency funds, but not enough to cover even a temporary fix, and that's also the fund that vet, medical, and car repair bills come out of, all of which I've had too much of this year.

I'm currently pitting four HVAC companies against each other to get the best offer possible, and getting the paperwork done for state subsidies, refunds and other discounts, but I still need your help.

I mean I get that’s it’s not the only contributing factor, but I’m curious exactly how much of the shelter dog over-population problem is actually due to poor dog ownership/management vs the housing crisis and economical stress. I’d be willing to bet by investing in social programs that give people the resources they need to care for their pets (cough cough affordable and free housing cough cough) that the amount of pets in shelters would dramatically drop. We can all sit here pointing fingers and screaming at each other until we are blue in the face, but if the owners basic needs are not being met, how can we hold them to a basic standard for their pets?

Me: Indoor, but I will be taking him outside on leashed walks. No free-roaming, only supervised walks.

Vet: Okay, so we'll be giving him a preventative treatment for fleas and ticks, but he likely won't need a rabies vac-

Vet: I mean we can do that but it'll be a six month plan, and it'll be a hassle for you to bring him in and pay for that many treatments, especially with how unlikely some of these diseases are

Me: My cousin was eaten by alligators, my uncle was almost taken out by a beaver, everyone in my family has been divorced once and married twice minimum over the past four generations, every family line I have has been kicked out of their country of origin, and my immediate family has experienced three divorces, four marriages, seven parents, three international moves, two missing persons incidents, two house fires, a tornado, two car collisions, one of which involved a semi truck that leveled the car, two sewage drain backfloods in two different houses, a wolf attack, two con artists, a pyramid scheme, two autoimmune diseases, three congenital deformities, one incident of bacterial meningitis, three medical quarantines, sepsis, and the sudden deaths and disappearances of eight dogs, thirteen cats, three guinea pigs, four consecutive sheep named Dorothy, thirty-two rabbits, a rooster, two ducks, four hamsters, nine fish, four cockateels, a parrot, a llama, and a bear
