There is an ancient engineering proverb for you my friend:
"If it looks stupid, but it works? Then it's not stupid."
Chronic pain is so funny sometimes because why am I creating gadgets around my pain
Couldn’t put two ice packs on both sides of my head comfortably to relieve my migraine today so I dug out some earmuffs I had and fu king adhered them to two ice packs go go gadget. An artistic depiction of how I’ve been for the last 4 hours
Tumblr media
I’m go go gadget-ing tf out

...they tend to make you sweat MORE, in the general experience of myself and people I know, which is not a substitute for Real Medical Advice (TM). I've more or less had to triple my fluid intake, so maybe you need to up your hydration game, but that does sound like something you should call your prescribing physician about because "Overheating but not sweating" is like. A Symptom of heatstroke, which is a "call 911 NOW" medical condition.
Oh my god, ADHD medication heat intolerance IS an actual thing? I tried to do research on it and all I could find was vague maybes, like "this may be a side effect" with no details. I've always been sensitive to heat, even as a kid, but since starting my meds (which are helping a lot!) the upper limit is so much lower! I go outside when it's more than 70˚F and I can feel the weight of the sun on my skin. I've been inside or under an umbrella for months, this summer has been a Struggle but I still wasn't sure I wasn't, you know. Making it up.
You're not crazy- poor heat tolerance is a well-known side effect of many ADHD Medications and SSRIs, which are often prescribed alongside ADHD Meds because they make the stimulants more effective, and beacuse having ADHD is depressing AF. Prior to going on Buproprion and Adderall, my heat tolerance was up to 100F, and now it's more like 68F lol.

We (animals collectively but mammals in particular) are out here tolerating outrageous climatological conditions to experience the world in time frames and spectra that plants and fungi can only dream of.
it seems like the key theme of fungus is that they eat everything including things otherwise impossible to eat, they get everywhere with their tiny spores, and they grow and be happy wherever it is wet by eating the surroundings. So if get inside your body (wet) they eat you. so your two main options for being a multicellular organism are developing an immune system (most animals) or hiring other fungus to beat the shit out of the fungus that gets inside your body (most plants)

Lark and Bower / Sarah Ward - 2020
During lock down, without a loom or studio, she started stitching small woven patterns by hand, using leftover yarn and a lot patience. What began as a way to keep going became a way of working.
Now, even with her full studio back, she still creates these tiny, time-consuming pieces. They're not made to be worn or sold fast, they're made to be seen, to remind us that weaving is an art, not just something for clothes. She uses waste yarn, old stock, and plant fibers to avoid adding more to the pile of fast fashion.

In archeology there are artifacts, which are items made or modified by humans, but there are also manuports, which haven't been modified but are found far from any possible origin point and there's no explanation besides somebody carried it there. Manuports include things like stones, fossils, and seashells, and have been found in deposits as much as three million years old.
So yeah, apparently the oldest human activity for which we have evidence is Picking Up Cool Rocks.

YAY WE DID IT YAY!!
Hi all! I want to boost Birdie Sam, self-described as a Tlingit 2spirit multi-media artist, speaker, educator and content creator. Birdie goes by showme_yourmask across all social media (Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, Threads).
I've known and deeply admired Birdie for a couple years. They are a tireless climate and Indigenous justice activist, as well as a skilled and inspiring artist. Also a maker of awesome wearables: I've been a fan of their orca-focused activist pins and stickers for a long time!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Birdie's father, Bob Sam, is a lifelong repatriation expert and cemetery caretaker in Alaska, who has dedicated his life to bringing home Indigenous people who were taken from their homes, died, and were buried and forgotten far away.
Recently Bob has experienced housing upheaval among other difficult things, and Birdie is flying him from Alaska to their home to stay with them while he rests and heals.
Birdie is trying to raise $2,000 to support their father—an extremely achieveable goal, already at $797 raised!
If you have anything to give, please consider supporting Birdie and Bob! It would be great if you could match my $5 donation!
You can also support Birdie by becoming a patron or purchasing from their shop, and just generally engaging in their content!! Thank you so much!

I think when you correctly identify a trauma that is the base of a woe of yours it should just disappear. It should be like "aaahh. you got me" and vanish and leave 100 dollars behind

HELLO SMOKE AND CINDERS!!!
Hey, so remember a couple weeks ago when I got lured by the fey found an animal shelter hidden behind a hill in the woods?
Tumblr media
The shelter babies have come home! :D
Everyone meet Smoke (white) and Cinders (calico)! Had to wait for them to get spayed before I could bring them home.
More pictures to come when they’re done napping from the long drive home.
