You’re sitting on the porch swing with your legs crossed, posture terribly bent, phone held to your ear. Aaron and Jack had been tending to the flower beds around the side of the house, but Jack spotted a paper kite butterfly and wandered off to find it while Aaron finished watering. 

He knows you’re telling the truth. Aaron’s watched you and Spencer together many times now, and he knows you truly enjoy one another’s company. It’s why you’ve made a good couple. It’s why Spencer comes to work each day with a sense of settlement, and why you’ve calmed down some. There’s security in things. Still, Aaron knows how fickle younger relationships can be— 

“I love you.” He stands straight. He frowns. You make a humming sound. “I love you,” you say again, like Spencer’s heard you wrong. “Yeah. Yeah, I love you more… I miss you today. I’m fine, just–” You stand up, the porch swing creaking. “Maybe I can come over? After dinner, it’ll be late, I just want to see you. Is that– Okay, good.” 

You walk to the end of the wrap around porch, just a foot from Aaron where he’s hiding in the shadow of the side of the house. He can hear Spencer’s voice now, too. 

“I don’t know why you’re asking me like I won’t say yes! Please come over, I begged you to come over yesterday!” 

“Don’t make me feel guilty,” you say, a loving murmur. 

“I’m not trying to do that! Just, you tell me you love me and then we don’t see each other for two days, which is fine, it’s not that you can’t be busy, but try and see it from my point of view.” 

“What’s gotten into you?” you ask. 

“Y/N, I love you. And you love me, and I was hoping you’d let me earn it by taking you out or something. You just ran away.” 

Aaron breathes out, alerting you to his presence accidentally. You turn on the porch with an incredible embarrassment in your screwed lips, glaring at him, and almost dropping the phone in your hurry to see the screen.

“Spencer, I gotta go. Aaron’s being a creep.” 

“What?” 

“I’ll call you back.” 

“Uh, okay? Is everything–”

You click the phone off and squeeze it in your hand. “Eavesdrop much?” 

“I’m very sorry. But in my defence, I’m watering the flowers.” 

“You’re so embarrassing.” 

“I’m embarrassing? What did I do?” 

“That was a private conversation.” 

“I didn’t hear anything.” 

You know he’s lying in the same way he knows you’re not as angry as you wish you were. You are embarrassed, though. 

“I had no idea you and Spencer were that serious,” he says mildly. 

You drape your arms over the porch railings. “Well, it is, I think. It’s serious for me. Does he– d’you think he’s serious?” 

“As a heart attack.” 

You bite your cheek. He can see you doing it, see the concern in your eyes. “I didn’t mean to say it out loud. I wasn’t sure I wanted him to know, but he’s been so nice about it.” 

“Nice isn’t the right word.” You talk about love like you’ve confessed to something awful. It’s love. “You should let him take you to dinner. Then you should tell me where you went and I’ll work out if he deserves you or not.” 

“That’s not funny.” 

Aaron smiles as you turn away, seemingly to call Spencer again and make arrangements. It was funny, and you’ll think so too once you forget he was being a busybody.

There is something so delicious abt the intertwining of failure and success when it comes to the narratives of pathologic.

Daniil enters the town a success, a celebrity doctor, well know and well liked, desperate to save his lab and secure funding but ultimately it isn’t the end of his life if the Hail Mary doesn’t turn out- he still might find a way to save it. Even though the details are uncertain, Daniil Dankovsky enters the town mostly a success. Artemy enters the town hated, suspected of patricide, denied his inheritance, in p2 he didn’t get the degree his father wished of him (it was more about the actual learning than the degree but still) because he was drafted into the war. His old friends dislike him and all hate eachother, by all metrics, Artemy Burakh enters the town a complete failure.

However, even when Daniil gets the Utopian ending, his entire time in the Town is a never ending cycle of little victories that ultimately end in failures. He barely does jack shit, even his medicine sucks ass and doesn’t work. He’s technically the only person here with a medical degree even if both Rubin and Artemy are qualified, yet he functions as a bureaucrat most the time. Even if he gets the utopian ending, he still has failed to save his lab and his old life, it’s all still in ashes.

In Daniils quests, even the ones you do well, half the time it still feels like you’re losing. Daniils story is the story of a man who lost everything he held dear in the span of 2 weeks, the entire time getting punched in the balls.

However, Artemy, even though he enters the town as a failure, retakes his place. He manages to disprove his guilt, he finds his fathers murderer, takes his revenge, he takes his rightful place in the kin (debatable how much he wanted to but like, he didn’t want literally anything so yk), he reunites his friends, his medicine is so good, even when you’re playing as Daniil it’s THE most useful medicine you can create by far. HE ADOPTS CHILDREN FOR FUCKS SAKE.

If Daniil wins, he’s destroyed the town and the people will forever hate him for taking it away. If Artemy wins, he’s the town hero, the one who successfully filled his fathers shoes and saved the town from a deadly outbreak.

Does Daniil deserve such a title for his ending? Absolutely not lmao, he’s an outsider afterall. This was never his world to come in on, merely all he had left. But it’s simply showing how Daniil is doomed to be a failure, and Artemy has the chance of being a hero.

AND the way this feeds into burakovsky is great I feel, the town hero and the disgraced doctor. The one who had it all and lost it all vs the one who lost it all and gained so much more than he ever could’ve expected. Not to say Artemy has only won, but he comes out of the outbreak with far more of a purpose and direction in life, he has a job to do. Daniil has nothing at all, the closest thing being his old friends who spend all their nights drinking away their lives mourning the dream of Utopia. Artemy has set up the future of the town, the children who will ultimately succeed him. Daniil has lost the closest thing he had to a child as well as his own hope.

The story of Daniil is getting beat into the ground where the story of Artemy is climbing your way out of the pits of hell. And idk. I think. I just think it’s fun. (AND both of these things do LITERALLY happen- with Daniil getting the shit beat out of him in the abattoir and whenever you talk to Clara before Artemy jumps in the pit. Or in p2 whenever it’s arguably even more clear that he jumps in a glowing red pit and makes his way out of the bowels of the earth yk)

I don’t know how long I’m going to leave for, may be for a few hours to a few weeks, but I just wanted to share with you guys what I’ve been going through because I know you’ll listen.

I might not ever post on here again because im gonna be honest, I only made this account to talk to someone I trusted. That OBVIOUSLY didn’t work out, and it’s okay for things to not work out sometimes, but I can’t bring myself to come back here and look at their account or the messages they once sent me because they’re so different than the ones I just saw now. I am extremely hurt by everyone involved for the things they said about me, and im gonna be honest, I still don’t understand how anything I said was wrong. “She needs to kill herself now!” And they said nothing. The person that I’ve told everything about my life to, went to great lengths just to make sure they had a way to talk to people, and showed my most vulnerable side to, said nothing. I didn’t even know they were showing what I was saying, “she’s still yappin” which is crazy to say about when im showing you how I feel. When we talked in the supposed relationship I was in, I made it my biggest priority to let them know that they could tell me how they felt, and I gave them so many outs before I got attached. I have major abandonment issues and bpd, and I know that’s not their fault or something they should worry about, but it explains why I became so attached and quick to panic when they expressed the thought of leaving me. I know they don’t owe me jack shit, but i genuinely trusted them with how i felt and that sensitive and vulnerable side of me i try to keep to myself. I haven’t felt like this in almost four years, and maybe that’s why I started to freak out? It seems like everyone’s forgetting that I warn everyone before they get close to me, BECAUSE I AM A DAMAGED INDIVIDUAL. I am in the recovery process from being physically abused, and sexually used for things that I didn’t even want to do. Worst part is? The people that were saying bad things about me were saying all these kinds of accusations that they can’t even back up.

Like what the hell? You’re saying you have ‘screen recordings of me’ doing what? You say you have so many messages from a lot of people about me, but I never talk to anyone other than the person I trusted and one other friend? This isn’t to bash the person that left me, Im not like that and I have expressed that id like to stay on good terms, it’s to bash the people that said all those awful things about me. I would’ve never known if a friend of mine didn’t show me the screenshots, and if im being honest, I didn’t even want to see them. I would’ve rather been clueless because that genuinely broke me seeing the way they let someone say something so awful about me. Even if I was mad at them, I don’t think I would EVER let someone say something that bad. Because in that moment, reading that stupid message, I did want to do it. I’ve been struggling with suicidal thoughts for a while now and everyone knew that, but they didn’t think that I would see it. They didn’t think that maybe I would be able to see that they hated me so much that they’d wish id die. and that hurts. It hurts more than I can express. I’ve always tried to be a good person, ALWAYS, and even to the people I have problems with im still a big pushover and I take it in the ass like everyone else would’ve; I spend money on people who don’t deserve it just to get them to like me, which I know spending money on someone doesn’t mean you deserve jack shit, but yk.. I think that if you see someone is going out of their way to be friends with you and is trying to gift you things because they think your awesome maybe you shouldn’t say that they deserve to die. I felt so fucking sick reading that, I forgot about everything else that was going on and just centered all my attention on that one statement because i genuinely thought these people cared about me at first. I know I should’ve kept to myself like I always did, but I wanted to be like these people, I wanted to be cool and to be liked because that’s all I’ve ever longed for; I’ve wanted the feeling that someone would care about me. And it seems now that the people I trusted never even deserved to be close to me. That I deserved better. And I don’t want to seem selfish because when this first happened i genuinely thought that I was the worst person in the world because how could someone hate someone like this without a reason; but I know none of this is my fault. I know that I deserve better than to sit and wait for these people to come around and like me again that genuinely never will. I know that one day they’ll read this and get all mad and pissy, because im posting this to my tumblr as well, but i genuinely can’t care anymore about these people. Im not naming anyone out of respect for their privacy, unlike how they were with me. I hope that maybe one day, they’ll realize how fucked up what they said was. The worst part is, I still have a place in my heart for ALL of them because I can’t detach that easily. But maybe I’ll get over this sooner than I think, because im better than this. I don’t deserve to sit and wallow my life away because someone hates me. They don’t need to say sorry to me tbh, they need to say sorry to Sabine because she’s the one that had to listen to me sobbing on the phone for the last three days and tbh.. Also I don’t know if New Game Plus severs connection to ME1 save I never did New Game Plus. Honestly I didn’t even know it existed until you started talking about doing it for ME1. I can’t say the other reason because it’s spoiler for 3. Also I wouldn’t worry about doing the DLCs early there’s not really a reason to do them late game other than personal continuity. However there’s a Citadel DLC in Mass Effect 3 that you should do right before the last mission so you’ll get the all content out of it so ignore Anderson if he ever tells you about an apartment.

And Jacob? Comes on pretty strong? I'd sooner believe Miranda abandoned Cerberus. I’m sorry but the timeline absolutely does not add up for Taylor to have cheated with matty or left joe for him (??????). they were not on the same continent at any point between the show where she did a surprise appearance in January (and stayed at the arena longer than he did based on that one New Yorker cover story) and the eras shows in nashville. February she was in LA for Grammys and tour rehearsals while he was off tour in the UK. January, March, April he was touring constantly across Europe, Latin America, Australia, and Asia. so unless you’re saying they fucked once in January (and matty didn’t even wait for her so they could go home together), engaged in three months of phone sex that taylor enjoyed so much that she dumped joe for it, and reunited in may for a month (in which case… idk what to tell you), they didn’t cheat lmao. it’s clear that they did reconnect over the phone in some way in april, and while some flirting easily could have gone on beforehand, that hardly constitutes cheating or leaving joe for matty

except for how they were in studio recording Midnights together so I really don't know what to tell you. Like he explicitly said there were songs recorded for Midnights that didn't make the cut. Also the "surprise appearance" clearly means they were yk talking? Actively? Back in Jan? Because I don't think Taylor went to do a 75 gig because of the financial benefits so obviously she did it as a friend, like she did Haim's show. But unlike Haim, she went on to say she loves Matty so....

So in the version you're presenting here's what happened: Taylor and Matty had a thing that ended and they stopped being friends and hanging out, in fact it was awkward between them, then Taylor reconnected with Matty at some point in the last few years, they developed a purely platonic connection this time round, this was solidified by them working together AS FRIENDS, however Taylor wrote a love-ish song about their original relationship AT AROUND THE SAME TIME, then FOR TOTALLY UNRELATED REASONS THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MATTY AT ALL, she broke up with Joe and publicly announced this on Matty's birthday (coincidence? Possible but a pretty wacky one since Taylor decided when to announce, like it wasn't leaked anywhere). Then they started talking again (why'd they stop talking tho they were besties back in Jan?? Surely they've been talking October through to now??) and SUDDENLY out of NOWHERE realised they wanted to try date again and then The Sun leaked this and then even though this was just a FWB thing between two besties they both mouthed "I love you" at each other on stage and then they broke up and stopped being friends.

I'm sorry that is WAY too convoluted to be likely.

What I personally think happened is Taylor was miserable with Joe, her and Matty started talking again through the Jack and Phoebe etc friendship connections, they were vibing and making music together, she was reminiscing on what could've been back then and so was he, Taylor was getting a lot more attention from him than she was back home and she was in her feelings, maybe some physical stuff happened too but maybe it was all this emotional shit that had to have happened for Question to exist, and eventually Taylor decided to full on end it with Joe and clearly immediately decided to be with Matty but something that seemed cool when it was all just talking and reminiscing and fantasising doesn't always work like that irl and this clearly was a lot better before they were actually in a relationship.

That relationship clearly didn't come out of nowhere.

If what you're truthering is no PHYSICAL cheating between them in the early months of 2023 based on dates and locations, I'm not about to counter truther because it'd take a lot of work to prove they were "never" in the same place at the same time. But if you're trying to say she didn't have an emotional affair with Matty and he wasn't a factor in deciding to finally call it with Joe - which may have been a good thing because she needed a push clearly like she wanted to leave him, she needed a reason - then idk what to tell you.

It's also, as I've pointed out above, not as simple as a pure Getaway Car because she was talking to him for literal months and months and months and months and then she dated him so excuse me for seeing that as an emotional affair.

HELLO. do u remember is dsmp when eret decided to make a faction against the egg and named it the knights of hope and puffy was one of them. puffy also used to be one of eret’s knights way back in the beginning as well LIKEEE. shes constantly trying to protect people she’s defensive she helps people she pours her entire being into the things she cares about. she’s so knight coded. there’s no other class for her i think. also the fact that it’s always eret who she’s the knight of. something something the unbreakable relationship between the space player and the knight who helped breed the genesis frog and the universe being built from their two hands etc etc. also remember her during the banquet after cfoolish was killed. i think if cpuffy had been allowed to shine during lore more like that she could have either fucked shit up or maybe fixed the entire server ngl. she’s THAT powerful i think. genuinely. she was so determined to make things better and if she’d been allowed to she could have gone down two paths: knocked some sense into everyone and rallied them all against a common enemy (cdream) and gotten rid of the biggest problem on the server, or snapped and set off the nukes herself in a wave of unbridled frustration. a knight of hope is a very powerful thing yk. and if cpuffy couldn’t reach her full potential in dsmp then BY GOD I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN IN DREAMSTUCK.

so trueeee nagi and rin’s parallels will never not be so cool to me too!! like obviously there’s the visuals of black hair vs white hair, bright eyes vs muted eyes, similar builds, but then they’re also so opposite narratively too?? like nagi’s the prodigy who doesn’t care abt soccer but is naturally good whereas rin is almost obsessive about it and works mega hard (ofc he’s talented too no doubt but for the sake of the comparison he takes it much more seriously than nagi), nagi has no family and no one who cares about him/who HE cares about until he meets reo, rin is super attached to sae and does everything because he loves him and wants sae to approve of him…they also have a lot of similarities too though!! like nagi being the “god of the field” vs rin being the “puppet master of the field”, the death and destroyer auras, how rin is only playing soccer to defeat sae and nagi was only taking it seriously to defeat isagi + only even got into it because of his friendship with reo…honestly my deuteragonist goats this is why rin would make such a good second lead to nagi (or vice versa but yk i’d never pick rin over NAGI HAHAHA) they play off of each other really well if written correctly despite not really interacting much!!! also i think they kinda have similar senses of humor in terms of roasting other players like if rin wasn’t such an emo hater he’d honestly probably get along w nagi (and hiori) quite well

jayden & kyle’s family dynamic is so funny to me. elizabeth was like “my ex husband is a piece of shit but now i have two kids (jayden and jordan)” and mary was like “my husband died so now i have to raise 4 kids on my own (brandon, benjamin, victoria, kyle)” and they decided to collab. but elizabeth arguably got the shorter end of the stick she probably could’ve handled 2 kids as a single mom 😭 finance wpuldn’t be a problem she’s a doctor, and some of her family was willing to help. she was just so ashamed she ending raising them w her friend from high school

but despite being comprised of 2 single mothers and 6 insane chilsren they are such a silly family. like you have mary the mean mom, elizabeth the nice mom. brandon is the very well adjusted and ordinary older brother. benjamin is the guy who tries but fails to be an asshole. jordan is the older sister who cares for others more than she cares about herself. victoria is simply A Little Gal and a little transgender with it. kyle is like if a shy lil guy was bullied in middle school and then tried to be more like benjamin and just ended up being a shy lil guy who is now jacked and looks scary. and jayden is. well. jayden is very autism (affectionate)

kyle and jayden are the only ones who don’t remember their dads at all. kyle would ask his brothers, sister, and mom about him all the time but jayden wouldn’t give a shit and constantly forget that that guy was even there. i mean he’s not even jayden’s bio dad, and definitely not legal or chosen dad, so to them he’s just their mom’s ex husband.

they’re all so close knit but jayden and kyle are the most 🧑‍🤝‍🧑. i mean they’re inseparable as kids and well into adulthood. they clearly didn’t get tired of each other bc they chose to get a place together along w some friends. it’s definitely like ☺️ but also a little bit of oh god i am constantly so afraid for you. that feeling of survival from their school years def affected them still. even if for jayden it didn’t apply for themself, they’re definitely still somewhat protective of kyle

also like cheyenne is the only friend out of them (jayden, kyle, and mitch) who is like well adjusted and capable of handling and loving both themself and the world around her. jayden has a tendency to blame themself, kyle is easily mistrusting of others, and mitch thinks it’s physically impossible for him to be loved. cheyenne is Just Chilling while her friends need therapists

also can we talk about mitch??? bro didn’t know how to make friends for most of his childhood and decided he didn’t care anyway. his peers just didn’t want to hang out so WHATEVER. and when he makes friends w someone as autistic as him but in a different way and he still feels distant from the group he’s like. damn maybe i’m the problem. so when it comes to it he prioritizes himself over the group bc they probably didn’t like him anyway so WHATEVER. and then they’re actually really sad and he’s like oh shit i screwed up damn i am so bad at this. jayden has to drag his ass back in college when he’s like imm so sorry ily guys so much but i screwed up so bad i am telling you you do not want 2 b friends with me

and while mitxh was having angsty high school and kyle as well cheyenne and jayden were literally just enjoying their youth. cheyenne was one of those people who had a high school glow up in terms of self-confidence, she survived the caterpillar goop of middle school. jayden just joins the soccer team and then has a high school romance of sad girl x quiet guy x class clown beginning as a love triangle and ending in polyamory

and then college and then big lore thing oh no!!!! :( fuckibg APOCALYPSE and INTERNAL CONFLICT and now everyone is separated!!!!! jayden gets the systen treatment, cheyenne goes on a quest for vengeance, kyle does some weird anime hero shit, mitch has a revelation, sidney (aforementioned sad girl) gets even sadder, and milo (aforementioned quiet guy) is living in a classic zombie apocalypse type scenario

jayden has a plural and hecomes jesse jayden and hikaru!!!! some omori type shot tbh. jayden is like well see you guys later and goes to bed and dreams that nothing bad ever happened. hikaru is some self-penitent freak who ends up leading a rebellion. jesse is simply pissed at everyone and is only looking out for herself. and when they all learn about each other it’s a constant power struggle since hikaru is like dude we need to do The Right Thing, jesse is like i’m tired of this and i do not want to partake in your hero complex, and jayden is like hey what’s going on. are we going to die

and it’s a little weird bc they probably have some internalized pluralphobia at first since they’re not rly educated on this sort of thing beyond the classic shitty serial killer trope. and the way they are there’s not really a single core, they’re all kinda connected to who they were b4 being plural and all have had times of hosting. so there’s sort of conflict about who’s the “real one.” jayden thinks they’re kind of like invaders in their body who just took control of their life (since their memory is just preplural times), hikaru thinks they’re like impulsive/irrational thoughts, and jesse thinks they’re naive or childish thoughts. so no one is taking each other seriously n it sucks a lot at first!!!

and then cheyenne is js. upset that everything has happened so this turns into anger that she then directs through politics and ends up committing mass murder and leading a wannabe oppressive regime
