I love this because the answer to "how long do elves live?" is basically just "fuck if anyone knows"
#i like to headcanon that during the second and third era's mer could live up to like 1000 naturally#it goes something like - they mature sometime in their 20's and then stay like 20 y/o until 100#and then 100-150 is equivalent to 30 human years. 200-300 is equivalent to 40. 300-450 is equivalent to 50 and so on#at least this applies to altmer and dunmer#but then during the 4th era with the destruction of crystal tower and the eruption of red mountain#(the “towers” tied respectively to those races)#that led to the lifespans of those mer born after being severely shortened#where 100 would (still) be equivalent to 30. but 200 would be equivalent to 60 and 300 equivalent to 90#the elder scrolls#mer#elves

The barrier between Nirn and Oblivion has always been weaker the further out to sea you go, The Coral Tower / Lost Fleet / Malstrom of Bal in/to Coldharbour, Fathoms Drift in Apocrypha, And if your captain is a little too crazy the entire Shivering Isles, these are just a handfull of places where your ship can just fall right into Oblivion. There are even Daedric Pirates freely sailing the seas off Nirn raiding merchant ships and Mehrunes Dagon holds dominion over destructive storms is it any wonder that the Aldmeri Navy is so powerfull to brave these waters or that the Maormer are like that. Im not sure where I was going with this but yeah, Seas of nirn further out to sea you go the less in Nirn you are

Did You Know: Mehrunes Dagon's mother gave him the pet name "Ja'Khajiit"? This translates to "Kitten".
#while you could absolutely say padomay was the parent of dagon (and every other daedric prince)#(courtesy of them being created from his spilled blood iirc)#there it is - padomay is portrayed as a “he”#and the only time i've heard of dagon having a mother specifically is the theory that he's the lovechild of molag bal and meridia#that whole thing about how he was created by the magne-ge in lyg which molag bal once ruled over#and how meridia was exiled from the rest of her kind for “consorting with daedric princes”#this is never explicitly stated in the games but kinda put together in fanon#so there is no giving of nicknames involved for that one#“ja'khajiit” is a title given to him by mortals (namely the khajiit)#the elder scrolls#daedra#daedric princes#mehrunes dagon
