Creative Spotlight #8: Choi Jongho
Masterlist
Intro: With so many new Atinys coming in, I figured now would be a good time to shed some light on all the boys' creative solo projects over the years, big and small.
JongST
Jongho's a singer through and through, and launched his own cover series in 2020 where he traveled to the filming sets of his favorite dramas to cover the songs in his usual powerful and emotional fashion, proving over and over again how much he deserves all the praise he gets showered with:
youtube
The fourth episode is a special one, featuring Jung Seung Hwan, the original singer of the OST, and a little interview section in the second half of the video. It's very cute and Seung Hwan shares a little anecdote of Jongho approaching him in the past to give him one of their albums and being all sweet and shy about it.
The most recent JongST was released in 2022.
Other Cover Songs
In mid 2022, Jongho was invited to Leemujin Service, where he performed an acoustic cover of Turbulence and the most gut wrenching version of Don't Go Today (seriously, it's so gorgeous I've streamed it more than some actual comebacks):
youtube
Through his participation in Masked Singer, Jongho performed Swing Baby a year ago while (to my delight, Jinyoung and Hyunsuk from CIX were there) - it's a really fun and dynamic performance and you can tell the audience had a blast:
youtube
And while Ateez as a group have participated (and won) Immortal Songs on multiple occasions, Jongho also performed a solo there last year - So You. At the beginning of the last third of the song, there's a section where the instrumental just falls away and we're left with nothing but Jongho's voice and it's so damn powerful:
youtube
8 months ago, Jongho's cover of Park Hyo Shin's Wild Flower was uploaded, featuring Jongho in a unique setting: a circular room with a single spotlight shining down from above, illuminating just him and a pianist sitting at a grand black piano.
It's a stunning performance with a gorgeous explosive section in the second half:
youtube
Imitation Soundtrack
Like Seonghwa, Yunho, and San, Jongho was also a part of the Imitation cast but, unlike the other three, he was a member of the fictional group Shax, which most of us agree made better music in the show-verse. While they had multiple performances (all of them iconic), here are the two most famous ones:
youtube
youtube
Pentatonix Collab
In 2022, Yunho, San, and Jongho were invited to collab with Pentatonix on a song called A Little Space (featuring a Korean verse):
youtube
Original OSTs
About a year ago, Jongho performed his first OST live, Gravity for the show Reborn Rich - it's absolutely stunning and powerful with an explosive chorus and soft verses and I wish I could've heard it live when they were last on tour:
youtube
1 month ago, A Day was released for the show Lovely Runner which is, for now, his most recent OST release and (unlike Gravity), this song actually gets used well by the show and is played during many pivotal scenes (especially in the latter half of the show):

Is the discoholic anonymous hotline number an actual number we can call?
TL;DR: yes - +1 202 642-5412 so, when the pandemic first started in 2020, & when the Discoholics Anonymous album was in production, i played a lot of Twitch music festivals that i filmed as really long music videos, like this one here
youtube
some people did a live set, some did prerecorded, like i did. i wanted some form of audience interaction to make up for the lack of that "live" aspect. so i decided to get a Google Voice phone number & flashed the number on the screen throughout these live sets so i can pretend to be a Discoholics Anonymous hotline agent as people were watching the sets. it was a lot of fun!
in 2021, the Discoholics Anonymous hotline also saw action on my own interactive Twitch stream to answer calls live on air
in late 2022, when the Discoholics Anonymous album was ready to ship. i asked a select few who left voicemails on the hotline permission to use their real voicemails for this track here, and gave everyone who left a voicemail exclusive preorder access to Discoholics Anonymous on cassette tape and vinyl, as a thank you to everyone who contacted the hotline
so, the Discoholics Anonymous hotline number has a lot of history behind it, and i still take the time to respond to people who leave texts and voicemails. there was one person recently who left a very nice voicemail and he talked me into giving him a free download code for Discoholics Anonymous. that bastard!
my favorite voicemail was this one that is… entirely in chinese
you can still call the hotline, but i only answer them live during live twitch music festivals (the last time was for VaporAid in April 2024, where i did a special thing where every call/text I got = $1 donation to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund), but nothing's stopping you from leaving a voicemail, listening to the leave a voicemail message, or just texting it whenever

Hi!! This is a really dumb question, and you 100% don't have to answer it, but I keep seeing your reblogs of dsmp - what is it? What's it about? How had it taken a hold of your soul and what do you take from it?
oh mouse. you have opened the floodgates.
so basically dsmp (aka dream smp but i don’t call it that anymore bc the content creator dream, who the server is named after, is a terrible person. which is a whole other can of worms i won’t get into) is a survival multiplayer (hence SMP) minecraft server that tells a story via improvised roleplay. it ran from april 2020 - april 2023 and grew from 4 members on the first day to 39 members by the end. it also featured a handful of guests including, i kid you not, michael clifford from 5 seconds of summer and lil nas x. the story was primarily distributed via livestreams on youtube and twitch, though some members and fans created highlight videos on youtube.
how do i explain what dsmp is about? overall, it’s a heavily character-driven story with many different factions, wars, and eras. each member essentially wrote their own story, and fans could pick whose POV they were most interested in and follow along with whatever lore was created. (at one point there was a head writer who, surprise surprise, also turned out to be a terrible person. are you sensing the pattern here?) so honestly the answer to “what is the dsmp about?” is different depending on which members/characters you choose to pay attention to.
i got interested in the server in early 2021 when someone i followed on tumblr for a completely unrelated fandom started posting about it (which is how i get into most new interests these days lol). i looked up some clips on youtube and discovered the content creator tommyinnit via an among us gameplay video. i thought he was really funny and checked out his channel. the first video of his i watched was “the funniest minecraft video ever,” which was edited from one of his dsmp streams where he and two other members created a religion based on twitch prime subscriptions. it’s ridiculous and still makes me laugh to this day. so after that i decided i wanted to know what this minecraft server was all about. i found VODs (archived livestream recordings) of the big events on the server and watched as many as i could. honestly i had to skip around a lot because there was simply too much content to catch up on, and a lot of members didn’t save their VODs. that was another reason i tended to follow tommy’s POV, he uploaded all of his twitch VODs to a separate youtube channel. he also streamed less frequently and for shorter time periods than most of the members so it was a more manageable amount of stuff to watch. after i got decently caught up, i started tuning in for the dsmp streams live. and boy oh boy did i become obsessed. spring of 2021 i was a junior in college and i hardly left my apartment because of covid restrictions. i was incredibly bored and developing depression (which i would not realize until i went to therapy that summer and got referred to a psychiatrist for diagnosis. but i digress). dsmp was genuinely the only thing that got me excited anymore.
spring-summer 2021 was honestly a golden age for dsmp fans because so much lore was happening at such a rapid pace and it was EXHILIRATING. the fandom would churn out analysis, fanfics, art, animatics, and even original songs at the speed of light. everyone would liveblog during big lore events and it was just such a fun community to be a part of, even though i mainly lurked on tumblr back then. the source material was nothing but minecraft blocks and webcams, so i think it really allowed the fans’ creativity to flow. the fans truly carried that server, particularly SAD-ist’s animatics on youtube and derivakat’s fan songs, though my favorite song was beetlebug’s “an ode to l’manburg.”
so you’re probably wondering: what the heck is l’manburg? so this gets into what i think truly made the server worth investing in, which was the storytelling. “l’manburg” was a fictional country created on the dsmp server. it actually started out as a van used to sell “drugs” (aka minecraft potions), created by c!tommy and c!wilbur (c! = character, to differentiate between roleplay and the actual content creators). basically wilbur wanted to roleplay breaking bad lol. a bunch of the other server members cracked down on this “illegal” business, so c!wilbur decided to form his own country on the land surrounding the van (now a hot dog van), declaring independence from the greater SMP so citizens would be free to do what they want. he called it l’manburg because it “sounded european,” and all of the citizens at the time were european while those still loyal to the greater SMP were mostly american. the citizens of l’manburg at the time were c!wilbur, c!tommy, c!tubbo, c!fundy, and c!eret. the greater SMP didn’t take kindly to this new country’s existence, so c!dream issued a declaration of war, and thus began the l’manburg war for independence, which was really an excuse to do hamilton roleplay (yes, it’s all very silly but i love it. it gets much more serious later on). anyway i don’t want to say much more in case you decide to give it a watch, but if you do good luck. i would recommend blueberry tv on youtube, who does a great job condensing the most important moments into 20ish minute episodes. they have a playlist called “dream smp plot playlist” which is a good place to start.
okay now i’m taking this opportunity to gush a little about c!tommy, one of my favorite characters in anything ever. he starts out as a loud, funny, slightly annoying, mean-to-your-face but kind-at-heart sixteen year old kid, and by the end he’s eighteen, he’s literally been to hell and back, he’s a little quieter, a bit jaded, and doesn’t easily trust others or even his own mind. but even after everything he goes through, he still tries to believe the best in people and stubbornly holds onto hope that things will get better. he’s incredibly loyal to his friends. he loves things that most people would overlook and he loves them hard. he communicates his feelings in convoluted metaphors that are accidentally poetic. he constantly listens to music, probably has an unhealthy attachment to it, but he’s willing to give it up if it means freedom and happiness for his friends. he deals with so much unfair treatment and abuse and trauma and he could so easily give into despair or allow those experiences to darken his morals but nothing is ever able to completely dull his spark. it would honestly be easier to give up or become the villain, but it’s just not in his nature. i just love him so much man 😭

crying at the tags on the playlist names post oml. anyway what're your top 5 mountain goats sounds for someone who loves no children and has not heard any other of their songs
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHH
Well here is the tmg essentials playlist that I have crafted, which is an hour and a half long (also is the reason my pfp is John Green mountain goats And was mentioned in the playlist tags :])
And as for the top five? Hhh okay.. I want to get a good mix of times and feelings in there as well as try to cover the essential albums uhhh
1. This year | The Sunset Tree | 2005
This is an absolute classic and is great to scream in your head. It's about getting through this year if it kills you!! It's one of my most played songs of all time at this rate (I've streamed it 500+ times apparently??)
2. Get Famous | Getting Into Knives | 2020
I love this one, it's more jazzy than most of their songs and is just very fun. It's not what a lot of their music sounds like but it's a good time.
3. The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton | All Hail West Texas | 2002
I love this album in general, it is very acoustic and every song has its own narrative. This song is the first on the tracklist, and it's a good representative for a lot of their music especially in that time period.
4. Deuteronomy 2:10 | The Life of the World to Come | 2009
Be warned this song will make you fucking cry. Content warning for extinction and animal death. That's all I will say. This song changed my life... I've never been able to listen to this album all the way through cause it's one of their more emotionally heavy ones. By god are some of the songs profoundly sad. Good but devastating.
5. Amy aka Spent Gladiator 1 | Transcendental Youth | 2012
If you like No Children, I must recommend something near it in catharsis. And of course that's Spent Gladiator. This song is like if This Year had an older sister. It's about going through rough shit and thinking you're not gonna make it but you find every way you can to keep going.
Bonus:
Here's the ska cover of no children. Because I love it.
You Were Cool is one of my favorites that they only perform live and haven't released a recording of. You can find videos of it on YouTube! I used one of the lines from it on my graduation cap.
If you do like these songs and want to get more into the mountain goats, I would recommend listening to either:
A Jordan lake sessions album, which are live session recordings they especially did during the height of the pandemic. The whole thing tracks over and has a lot of talking between songs and many of them have a different or more raw take on some of their more popular or personal favorites.
Any of their albums all the way through in order. My top recommendations for this are Tallahassee (which no children is on!), The sunset tree, all hail West Texas, bleed out, heretic pride, and transcendental youth. I do love many of the other albums but these ones are my favorites as a unit.
I know listening to the mountain goats at first can be really intimidating cause their discography is SO BIG (like more than 24 hrs worth of music big) but if you do then you end up with a lot of room to explore! I don't think I've even listened to every song they've made and I've been a fan for a good few years. Like mountain goats fans are super cool about that kind of thing (I know other music fan communities can be the opposite) cause they just love to share even a little love! And if you (or anyone else!!) have any questions or want more playlist suggestions (I have several hyperspecific tmg playlists saved and or made) my inbox is always open :] I love talking about tmg
#sierra speaks#thank you for the ask!#literally had soooo much fun w this#i hope you enjoy#and if you dont thats okay too#the mountain goats#mountain goats#tmg

this is just a loser finding ways to partially vent but my story it's cringe, undeniably funny, and related to Danganronpa in ways So, uh yeah, if you want to read that'd be nice but if not I understand. When I say Danganronpa is the most impactful media I've ever consumed in my entire life I'm not joking.
I got into Danganronpa after GameGrumps played the first game in 2020, when they finished it I loved it so much I went on to watch someone else play Danganronpa 2. At the time my life was pretty awful, I was sort of becoming numb emotionally everything felt the same day after day, and it's stupid, but when Nagito Komaeda made me feel something after feeling so numb during that time I kind of got obsessed. It was so bad not only did I make myself so much lonelier, but I had to research hyper fixations to know I wasn't insane. So you could say Nagito caused me learning and acknowledging i'm autistic! Which sounds like a big impact until you hear the biggest one.
It was 2021 now, I was still obsessing over Nagito Komaeda and the fixation was so bad that I joined the fandom early before playing v3, Danganronpa on the Nintendo Switch was announced and I was eager and excited so I looked up a ton of reactions on Youtube. A day later Youtube recommended me a live stream, two guys were just joking and playing Danganronpa. My humor was changing but I knew that I laughed at their streams and videos so I stayed, I watched every stream I could and every video uploaded. Eventually I joined their Discord Server, I edit videos so after a while I asked the main owner of the channel for advice on videos and such, and then we bonded over some videos and songs like the v3 hated by life itself animation. After that I always thought of something to text to him every day, as a matter of fact we talked so much that I became behind on School because I'd be talking to him instead. After a while we started calling every day, and then we started face timing, and after that he had confessed to me. At the time I wasn't sure about my sexuality and I had repressed any attraction I felt for anyone out of "respect" So when he confessed to me I was able to think about it finally. It took me 3 days to think about my life and myself and I said yes and we started dating. We met in person 2 times, and dated for 2 years before he broke up with me a few months ago just because life has been hectic I suppose. The channel doesn't have any of its videos public anymore, the server is somehow barely alive for now despite one of the owners already leaving and the other just not talking much, and basically anything that came from all of it no one will know about other than the small group of mutuals that keep in touch and me making these. Most of those mutuals still don't even know that we ever dated. The channel is Emigc btw I think the only thing ever left public is someone reacting to a video he made on Danganronpa S.
anyway boohoo story sad ending but yeah that's how Nagito Komaeda helped me experience my first romantic love and know that i'm autistic, that's it. he's still funnily enough one of my favorite characters of all time i'm normal about him now at the very least Lmao. I finally got into Rain Code after the breakup since I got it for Christmas and it's stupid but it really does feel like the next step? if that makes sense? Danganronpa was the impact to my life, Rain Code is what I'm loving in the aftermath of what Danganronpa has done to my life. I honestly have loved Rain Code somehow even more than I loved Danganronpa, maybe not to the insane extent of Nagito though Lmao. Oh yeah, I also completely skipped over how Danganronpa helped me bond even more with my best friend who feels like a brother to me now but this is already long enough! I've just been making messages about what happened because those were the happiest years of my life and I miss it.
thanks for reading if you did
Goes to show that media really does have a grand effect on our daily lives. From my personal experience, I wouldn't have met any of my friend group, aptly named Ding Dong Bing Bong, without Danganronpa. Long story short, I started playing the first game after watching Game Grumps' playthrough of the 2nd game (and proceeded to spoil myself about the entire trilogy), and I did so in a Discord server. Someone ended up joining me during the start of the prologue, and we shared in voicing the characters. After a few days, another person joined, then another, then another. And now we're a tight huddle of ten after more than a year of playing games together!
It's interesting to hear how the Dangan series, Rain Code, and other media has affected other people as well. Meeting new people, discovering new things about ourselves, and watering our creative roots! Looking back on the moments can boost our spirits, too! I hope the future bodes well for you as you continue to enjoy your interests!
#i'll keep this on the down-low since it's the anon's personal story#if the anon wants me to delete this so its totally private i will respect their wishes#its cool to hear about the extensive histories people have with media they love#i have many stories of my own but ill save those for a rainy day#which could be any day really

Junior Eurovision 2023 detailed opinions before the show. Part 2
And here am I, with the second part of my Junior Eurovision 2023 personal opinions by tier (rather than ranking, these songs are more difficult to rank than in adult Eurovision). We covered the 2 lower tiers, the ones that are not the worst songs of history (they're kids after all, and at least the songs are less disastrous than some of the worst entries in the adult edition's history) but not the best compared to the others. Now it's the turn for the third one, the wildcard (for reasons I will explain), as the last two will be joined in one (or two, if Tumblr limits the content size).
The tier-list, for reference
Tier 3: "Not winners, but I identify myself with them"
A small talk before the first song of this tier, to explain why is it a wildcard I didn't think I would bawl "It was Eurovision, not depression!" over MORE THAN ONE SONG in this year's Junior Eurovision. Sure, one thing is one depressing/tear-jerking song per year like Forever (2020) or Nezlamna (2022, and by a lot considering the lyrics and the war); but more than one is because either I got too emotional lately or these songs really tugged me in the heart, one way or another, by any mode. The only reason they are not in the lower tiers and in a personalized one as a wildcard, although still not the top favorites T-T
🇵🇹 Júlia Machado "Where I Belong"
Portugal surprised me a lot the two last years. One with Simao's "O Rapaz" and his out-of-the-box voice that would send him to adult Eurovision in a click (even if the Discord fandom says he sounds like a grandpa ._.), and then Nicolas' "Anos 70" with a Damiano David-like voice (affectionate) and the rock ballad of the rock ballads in JESC (how don't we have that kind of songs this year? ;w;). And I was hyped for Portugal's selection, expecting everything...except this.
Sure, the signals were clear when they said the song would talk about Júlia's personal experiences with bullying during her school studies in USA, but I expected it to be more of a "Stand By You"-like entry (Albania 2021). And then the song came and gave me the slap. For being a soft ballad, as someone who understands almost 50% Portuguese vía childhood comics and dubbing, the hit felt as hard as street concrete, and fricking relatable. Like wanting to hug Júlia each time I heard it.
By rumours they say the clothing for Júlia will be a key part in the live version. And I really, really hope it results good, because this song (and the next entries) deserves the best staging and to not land last.
🇪🇪 Arhanna "Hoiame Kokku"
Estonia in the Junior edition? The surprise of the year, I say. After hearing Serbia and Kazakhstan were leaving this year (both for bad results in Yerevan, one having extreme sickness bc of COLD OPENING CEREMONY OUTSIDE to the point the jury show was shown instead of live, and the other with a good studio song and feeling plastered by the live version ;w;), I was hoping for a miracle to complete the 16-entry list. And Estonia, from all countries, entered the contest, and with a contestant kid already! A good reveal! It was 100% ensured they would bring a ballad rather than another song genre (Alika's "Bridges" gave them confidence, I see). But this one got me off-guard a lot.
If I got emotional with this one was rather because of the studio videoclip streamed in YouTube (during work, and me trying to hide the emotional tears) than the lyrics themselves. But it still hit me a lot. Arhanna's vocals are such of a level I never imagined for Estonia, since I expected a lot of things being their JESC debut, and the piano touch speaks "inspired by Alika" a lot (in a good way, "Bridges" was amazing, even if Ollie's "Venom" was my first election). But the video, my lord in Christ, was the main reason I put this song in this tier. And adding that, by lyrics and all, this reminded me a lot of Sora and Mashiro's friendship (yeah, into the Hirogaru Sky Precure fandom since last months). Yeah...
Should they ruin the staging for this one, I will be totally angry. At least they would make the piano a "ghost-play" like in Alika's case, but please, please don't ruin this one with the live version!
🇵🇱 Maja Krzyżewska "I Just Need a Friend"
Another song that I underrated during its first version like Viola's "Bota Ime" from Albania. The Szanza Na Suckzes 2023 (Poland's current JESC selection) experience was something new for me, from the fact they decided to use ONE SINGLE ORIGINAL SONG to test which finalist went better (instead of one song per finalist like in previous years with Laura and Sara James, something that showed which kid had more potential better) to expecting it to be at least decent compared to the unspeakable crime TVP "sent" for Liverpool. As for the finalist kids, I agree with the fandom it should have been more of a pair given the song's meaning than just one kid, but well, TVP is TVP and we can't do anything. The song at first listening by Maja was not a big hit for me for then. I said "they either revamp it like with Laura's "To the Moon" or they will place last with Albania". And it was in the last places for a long time until the studio version came to YouTube (and then the video T-T)
For the song first. WHAT A REVAMP. I had low expectatives and yet the new version WAS SOMETHING AMAZING. It was waaaay leagues above the Szanza version, it had more strength and feeling. And Laura sounded WAY BETTER. I was unsure where to place it for the moment. Until the next day the video was streamed early in the morning...To tell you that, by the end of the clip, I called my pet Yorkie, Canela, to my bedroom and hugged her hidden in the blankets while sobbing a lot before my normal wake-up hour, I say a lot of how I felt of the video. The dog there is really a good boy/girl :,)
Knowing Poland's history of Capcut add-ons in screen (Viki's countdown, Sara's butterflies and flowers, Laura's floating moon and a clip of her and her besties in the intro, Ochman's thunders and rain, and whatever tf they tried to make in THAT song in 2023), I just expect for them to NOT SCREW this song with those things. The song is NOT FIT for it, and it will be a CRIME if they dare to do it in the live version. PLEASE. NO. EFFECTS
----------------------------------------------------------
And that's a wrap for this second part! Now we get to the best songs (in my opinion) for Junior Eurovision 2023! See ya! :D

Timothée Chalamet Questions - Updated
I saw this tag game here and decided to update this. When did you become a Timothée Chalamet fan?
September 17th, 2020. It's been two years that this man changed my life and now I can't imagine my life without being a fan of his. I have never been in love with an actor like him.
What was the first movie of his that you watched?
A Rainy Day In New York. I know it's a bad movie (in my opinion) and I barely remember the story at this point. The only thing I remember is the "Everything Happens to Me" scene.
Favorite movies of his?
Dune, The King, The French Dispatch, Little Women and Miss Stevens, Call Me By Your Name (I love the movie, despite, you know who.)
What are your least favorite movies of his?
Hot Summer Nights, Don't Look Up and I didn't like Entergalactic that much ("What? You didn't like Entergalactic??"). To be honest about Entergalactic, it's good? Yeah, just not my favorite movie of his. I also don't like A Rainy Day In New York.
Favorite red carpet event in general?
Cannes 2021 was my first ever red carpet I've watched, so this one will always have a special place in my heart. Venice 2021 and 2022 were awesome, I remember them fondly, LFF was amazing and the Bones & All red carpet in Milan was exciting as heck.
I also have to mention Oscars 2022 and the 2021 Met Gala.
Have you watched his whole filmography so far?
No. I have to watch Bones and All ASAP.
Have you ever dreamed of him? If you remember the dream, tell about it below:
Many times, and dreaming about Timothée is the best thing ever. Here are some of my most cherished dreams:
1. Timothée was wearing a white shirt on a Zoom video call, playing “Quand tu M'aimes” by Charles Aznavour on his guitar.
2. Timothée and I were recreating the music video for “Shape of My Heart” by Backstreet Boys. The music video was exactly at the 2:37 mark of the song, and in this part, I stroked his hair while the camera panned down on his bare feet. We were dressed like the couple in the music video: I wore a gray shirt and blue jeans, with some black sneakers, while Timmy was entirely clad in black, barefoot.
3. Feeling extremely homesick, Timothée caught a bus and started writing a text message to his mom, telling her how much he missed her. Then, he looked out the window and tears streamed down his cheeks.
4. A channel was broadcasting an incomplete cut of Bones and All. The intro scene had nothing to do with the book (The movie wasn't out when I had this dream, so the only things I knew about were from the book), since it involved a man fighting against a woman with an explanation about how that man became the first person with the cannibal curse. The reason why he has become the first cannibal was because he lost the fight and went on a transformation that rendered his hair white and his eyes pink (My subconscious mixed Bones and All with Dune). The rest of the scenes were more faithful to the book. Maren as a kid, Lee and Maren going to sleep, Lee’s crying scene, it was nonsensical, yet awesome.
5. I met Timmy on a "secret mission" in which I had to interview him. I was wearing a black suit, and I couldn't go to the movie theater he was attending because I had no tickets. Then, Jennifer Aniston of all people helped me get them, then I entered the movie theater and I asked: "Have you seen a man with brown hair and green eyes?", to which people answered: "He's in the bathroom." Timmy came into the room, with his Oscars 2022 outfit and his LFF hair. I took a selfie with him, but when I took another one to show to my friends, I woke up.
What movie of his are you most excited to see?
Bones and All, which I'll be finally able to watch because I've found a link to it, followed by Wonka and Dune: Part Two.
Favorite outfits/pictures?

I’m drunk, let’s talk about 2022. Here’s some random shit I enjoyed:
TV: I almost never watch tv shows, I just don’t have the attention span. But this year I did enjoy Our Flag Means Death, as well as the latest season of What We Do In The Shadows. Not sure I watched anything else new this year.
Books: I think I read two books this year. A Christmas Carol, thanks to user @warrioreowynofrohan and their Dickens December (a great time!), and If This Book Exists, You’re In The Wrong Universe by Jason Pargin, aka David Wong, the 4th book in the John Dies At The End series. This has been my favorite book series for over a decade now, and this new installment crushed it. If you’re not familiar with the series, picture a couple of 30-something fuck-ups in a poverty-stricken small Midwest town repeatedly saving the world from Eldritch Horrors because they’re the only ones who took Space Acid in high school and survived. Highly recommend if you enjoy comedy or horror.
Pro wrestling: I’m pretty much a grumpy curmudgeon when it comes to modern wrestling, but AEW was on a serious hot streak throughout the first half of the year. It kinda fell apart after the Punk All Out mess, and I hope it heats up again soon. I get that he’s a huge dickhead and everything, but I was way more invested in the show when it was centered around Punk and Danielson instead of Omega and the Bucks. Hopefully they recapture my interest in 2023.
Music: I also don’t spend much time listening to music these days, but I did discover a couple new bands I enjoy. Chiefly The Dahmers. Everyone check out The Dahmers, they’re rad. 2000s fuzzy guitar sound mixed with horror punk themes and vocals that sound like Cheap Trick. They hit.
youtube
Podcasts: As a mailman I have an Absolute Fuckload of time on my hands to listen to audio entertainment. My favorite new podcast this year was Bros B4 Prose, a comedy fiction podcast starring Josh Henderson, @jeffpennington , and Rich Masters. If you listened to Fantasy Fiction back in the day it’s a spiritual successor to that. Has me laughing my dick off on a biweekly basis.
Giant Bomb: I watch/listen to Giant Bomb all the time, so they get their own recap category here. I fuckin love the current state of Giant Bomb. 2020 and 2021 were crazy years due to the pandemic, shift to home streaming, and various departures, but 2022 has been a massive breath of fresh air. I look forward to more great content in 2023.
Video games: Didn’t really play much new this year. Neon White was the big one, but I also dipped a toe into Disco Elysium, and finished small indie title Super Kiwi 64. What I most enjoyed this year, however, was introducing my 4 year-old to Zelda. He watched me play Twilight Princess start-to-finish in the beginning of the year, and now we’re working on Majora’s Mask. I don’t talk about parenting much on here, but it feels so cool to share something you love with your kids. Can’t wait to play more.
And finally Real Life: I had another kid! Well my wife did anyway. I checked out the hospital snack machine while she did all the hard work. Having two kids is wild. I’m looking forward to 2023 because as he gets older he’ll get to be a whole lot more cool and fun. At this point he just poops and slobbers and sits there. You’re supposed to enjoy these years while they last, but just like the first kid I’m like “let’s speed this shit along.”
And that’s everything. If you follow me, thanks! Here’s a glimpse into my life. I’ll mostly go back to reblogging silly memes after this. See ya!

i think my biggest problem with “tiktok” songs is the fact that it’s so hand fed. tiktok kudus to them, have created such an expansive platform where old songs like that one miguel song, deep michael jackson hits, RADIOHEAD and SADE. are not popular songs with the young generation. but, the way they found it is so handfed that it bothers me so much because I HAD TO LOOK FOR THAT SHIT!?!?! DO YOU KNOW HOW I HAD TO FIND RADIOHEAD MUSIC??? first i listened to kanye west, then i listened to bon iver because kanye was inspired and worked with him, then i listed to james blake because kanye was also working with him, then i found out kanye was inspired by thom yorke and finally i listened to kid a for the first time in my life in August of 2018 and my life changed forever. and while i was working my way through radiohead, i found out more about kanye i found out about bon iver i found out about james blake and found these amazing songs and videos and live performances from them. if the car behind you, can’t make you love, vh1 storytellers. and all of this led me to find radiohead. but now, some 14 year old “and this is when i REALLY start sounding like a fucking boomer” just scrolls on tiktok, finds a sade song without having that experience of finding it on its own or someone cool asf sharing it with him. i know there’s this big thing of hate keeping and not letting anyone put you on which… TRUST I DO THAT SHIT TOO!!! but so many people showed me new music. and people on twitter as well which shows the hypocrisy in my words. but my ex girlfriend showed me mac miller, yunglame put me on to pharrell in may of 2018 which is now one of my favorite albums, this cool girl on twitter who’s username used to be ughgaby posted a lot about the smiths which introduced me to it. but i feel like tiktok has completely stripped that experience away which i felt was such a human experience. sharing music, finding music, that rush of searching through songs good and bad and you hear a song that immediately sweeps you and over time becomes your favorite song. there’s just something so wonderfully human about that.
this also sprung up another “problem” or rather just deepened a trend which is, the death of album. and to be fair, even i’ve succumbed to it. in 2015 prince went up on the grammy stage and said “like books and black lives, albums still matter” at the time streaming was getting more and more popular and artists and music lovers were fearing that albums would be going by the wayside as now artist were more focused on making that 1 billion stream hit and now a cohesive album that is personal to the artists. which made artists like beyoncé, kanye, and drake have different takes on this. beyoncé tried to go the traditional route, kanye announced the death of physical media with tlop and drake would put out a “playlist” called more life. all of this was happening when i was 14/15. and now that i am 21, i think prince would kill himself if he saw the current state of albums. after the rise of tiktok, it has become even WORSE. because, while these old artists have increased in popularity, it’s only select songs. while i’m sure that some in the young generation have gone out and listened to artists which, hey maybe i’m wrong, maybe this is how these teenagers are founding these artists and diving deep into their music, i would argue that most kids now listen to a playlist where they put all of their favorite songs in the moment and never think twice about listening to an entire album. and tbh, even i have succumbed to it. in 2020, my most played songs were stringed from albums. you would see 8-9 tracks from my favorite albums in the year. this is before i had tiktok. now in 2023, i have a list of just singles that i’ve been playing because even now i listen to a playlist of new one off songs and i can’t even remember the last time i had an entire album playing or even listened to an entire album. a clear personal example is astroworld vs utopia.
this is another BSCK IN MY DAY story. but wtv. on August 3rd 2018, ASTROWORLD came out. one my favorite albums of all time. one of the most anticipated albums in my lifetime. there was not a person at my school that didn’t listen to it, wasn’t taking about, and didn’t post it on their snapchat story. i listened to it at least once a day and it didn’t leave my rotation until october and november and even then, sicko mode wouldn’t die off until 2019. now let’s take utopia, another one my most anticipated albums, something that i’ve been waiting for 5 YEARS for. i listened to it at 10PM july 27th 2023. i even live posted my reaction on tumblr. it’s september 14th and i have not listened to it all the way through since. BUT I PUT MY EYES AND TELEKINESIS IN MY PLAYLIST!!! and it’s not because it’s a bad album, i actually LOVED the album when it came out but it’s just not in me to play it. i’ve changed so much that i don’t even listen to full albums anymore. which i get that people will say “bro stfu you just changed how you listened to music” but i feel like it’s the why i changed i feel like tiktok and others influenced me to listen to more “singles” than albums which i fear because albums are the most beautiful thing an artists can make and i’ll carry my favorite albums to my tombstone.
idk, maybe i’m just waffalling and i know i’m fucking 21 and i already sound like fucking “WELL BACK IN MY DAYYY” but that shows just how faster generation to generation are changing. for the most part i can relate a lot to how a 26 or 27 year old grew up. we had the same pre social media internet and we had the same technology more or less
but i’d love to hear what other people have to say and i know a lot of youtube always go” LWAVW A COMMENT ID LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU TJINK” and they don’t give a fuck but i’d love to hear others opinions especially kids in Gen X who are growing up now and have no recollection of what culture in 2016/2017 was and if you’re like 28 stfu i already know your opinion this isn’t about you.
p.s this whole rant was inspired by a tiktok of iniesta with weird fishes by radiohead which reminded me how much music and how i had to listen to the entire album to find that song while some fucking kid knows it from a football compilation on tiktok…. (sigh… at least i’ll always have go slowly 😌) maybe i’m just jealous of how easy it is now lol.
i guess another thing im curious about is, do you like the song or do you just like this certain part? can you listen to an entire song are you still listening to a build to the beginning to the verse not just the hook?? i feel like it’s too many hook music which i remember when X put out ? and a few people were upset at the length of the song and some people called it from a mile away that this is the direction music is headed and tbh… THEY WERE RIGHT, popular songs usually are shorter and just try to get to the hook as fast as possible and even starting with it sometimes

2023/April 14th - Creative
I have been a bit exhausted the last few days.
My sleep schedule got kinda messed up, though this is not entirely out of character for me when I get fixated on a new idea. I decided about a week or two ago that I would try to revitalize my interest in video production. I probably should preface this by saying that I tried running a YouTube channel back in 2020. Probably not the best time to get into it, but it was what it was.
When I did it, I was narrating some of the novels that I have written over the years. Writing is my passion, yet it’s not a compatible medium with many of the passions and interests of most people these days. People want interactive media – it’s why they turn to visual novels or YouTube videos or games to get their reading in.
The videos I made honestly never really felt like they were at their fullest potential. It felt like I didn’t have the proper tools to bring my words to life, and I became very frustrated by the outcome. While I reached 60 subscribers during that time period, I eventually became so bothered by the quality of my own content that I deleted all of it from existence and put the channel on hiatus.
Recently, though, I have had a change of direction in my life. I decided that because racing videogames have been a lifelong hobby of mine, I would like to do highlight videos surrounding my favorite racing games. As such, I’ve spent the last several days prepping videos for a May 1st debut. I have about seven completed already.
What I’ve noticed so far is that because I have better equipment now, that alone has given me more confidence in my abilities. In 2020, I was video editing on a Chromebook (which many of you might not think possible, but I assure you, it is). The videos were serviceable, but they lacked the kind of professional quality that I wanted of them.
Now, though, I have an enterprise-level Windows desktop with an enterprise-level GPU that I was using for CAD applications during my last round of college (see my post about going to college three damn times).
Since my drafting stuff is currently on hiatus, I figure that I should probably get my money’s worth from the machine, and it turns out that it can encode a 10 minute 720p video in about 45 seconds. Not bad. As far as the games, I am recording them on an Xbox One X which I have calibrated to record in 720p because Xbox DVR requires your clips be processed over the cloud, and my internet – while good in terms of download speed – is terrible at upload speed.
I learned recently that Xbox DVR files corrupt very easily. Audio sync issues are also very common. So… Not the best start.
Nonetheless, I do feel like the way I have things set up lends itself to my style of video production. What I’m doing is recording individual races and events in-game and then creating highlight reels from them. Some of these highlight videos have a story to them, even.
The audio sync is easy enough to fix using the video editing software. That said, I have lost a handful of good clips due to file corruption – which led to much sulking.
To prevent myself from going insane, I’m probably only gonna upload twice a week – Monday and Thursday. This gives me 2-3 days between videos to work on each one. So far, I’ve noticed it takes approximately 90 minutes to encode enough clips for a 10 minute video, and then editing takes two to four hours depending on storyboarding, effects used, and also needing to create the thumbnails for each video.
And of course, my videos are going to have overlays that show my channel name and eventually things like a Twitter link, Ko-Fi link, etc. If I ever decide to stream, those same overlays could be used to show stream-related info (I think that’s how it works). But getting that sophisticated is gonna take time, I guess.
For the first month, I figure I will use a compact overlay (just a banner, really). Then after, I will make a full-screen overlay in 1080p with the 720p gameplay footage in windowed mode. That’s the plan, anyway. There’s still so much I need to figure out, and I am doing all of this myself.
I would say that my goal is simply to attract people who love the same things I love and who I can share memories with. Like, as a gamer, I often play alone. I don’t really have “gaming friends.” I’d like that to change.

Opportunity Costs and Changes in Preferences during the Pandemic.
Maanasa Panuganti ([email protected])
ID: 69368204
Wednesday 5pm
Introduction:
On March 13, 2020, the unexpected had happened. After hearing about individuals being affected by coronavirus around the world, the panic had finally gotten to my hometown. Prior to March 13, rumors that the school was closing were flying around, but I didn’t believe them. How could school, which has been a daily constant in almost every student’s life, just close down? The change was too big for me to even imagine. However, as the situation got worse, the unthinkable rumors seemed more and more likely to happen. Eventually, we got the news that our school would close for the time being. Although it was only a two week break back then, March 13, 2020 would be the day that everyone’s daily life was turned upside down.
So school moved online, and since not much was known about the virus, we tried not to leave the house as much as possible. Transitioning from a high school student that went to school all day and spent hours studying to being quarantined in my room required giving up some things in order to cope with the pandemic.
Opportunity Costs I faced during the Pandemic:
The opportunity cost of a good is whatever is given up to get the good. An example is giving up 1 pringle for 3 goldfish. The opportunity cost of the pringle is 3 goldfish. During the pandemic, I, just like many other individuals, had to give up certain aspects of my life in order to accommodate the pandemic life and prioritize safety. The first opportunity cost was the opportunity cost of fast food, including all my unhealthy favorites, such as pizza, boba, french fries, and more. As a result of not going outside, I was forced to give up all that and eat homemade food instead. The opportunity cost of buying and eating fast food is buying groceries and cooking healthier food. Another opportunity cost I faced was going to the gym. For the gym, I would pay a monthly membership and spend a few hours a week working out. However, during the pandemic, I saved the monthly membership fee and did home workouts instead. Instead of going to the gym and paying the monthly membership fee, I committed to home workouts. Therefore, the opportunity cost of going to the gym was the membership fee as well as the time spent committing to my new home workout. Another aspect of the pandemic was the lack of human interaction that came with isolating. Instead of spending time with friends, I made up for this surplus in free time by going on Tiktok or Netflix. In this case, the opportunity cost of spending time with friends and socializing is the time spent on my phone or laptop watching videos or television.
How the pandemic affected my baskets:
The pandemic brought with it a new fear of germs and a desire for cleanliness, and this showed in receipts. The baskets that we bought at the supermarket changed by keeping all the old goods in the basket, such as food and basic necessities, and adding masks, hand sanitizer, soap, and other disinfectants to keep germs from spreading. Since these goods became a necessity in the post-pandemic era, consumers would get less of their regular pre-pandemic goods in order to remain inside their budget constraint. In addition, prices during the pandemic increased, which means people’s baskets included less quantities of their all goods. So, after the pandemic, consumer baskets would include less goods because prices have risen, and less of their original pre-pandemic goods because their baskets now include pandemic items with a slightly smaller budget constraint. Both the pre-pandemic and post-pandemic baskets are shown in the graph below.
Staying home to keep safe from the virus also caused an increase in screen time. Some of the services that we used were streaming sites such as Netflix, Amazon for products, better wifi (since school and other events were online), and fitness apps (for at home workouts). Since the demand for these services increased, they would have a higher equilibrium quantity and a higher equilibrium price. The equilibrium point is where the supply curve and the demand curve meet. Since more consumers purchased a Netflix membership during the pandemic, Netflix has to increase quantity in order to serve the increased demand. Since they had more consumers, their revenue started going up as well.
During the pandemic, many firms went out of business because they lost consumers. On the other hand, firms that had online products gained a lot of customers and revenue. It’s unbelievable how this unexpected situation had such a huge impact on our economy. However, new firms are being created and markets are being rebuilt, and soon, the pandemic will be an event of the past.

Top Ten Most Wilbur Streams Ever:
rules: no dsmp lore streams, no music streams. I also tried to pick one from each ‘category’ of wilbur streams.
10. ‘If Niki Laughs the Stream Ends’ - feat. Niki
I showed extreme self-restraint in not adding more Niki-Wilbur solo streams. Anyway, this is the most enjoyable Wilbur ylyl vod, and one of the best of the Niki-Wilbur chill content genre. Besides their great chemistry, the Shawty bit is one of my favorites from the chat, and Niki losing it at the dumbest videos is just really enjoyable.
9. ‘mcc 12 - How long can I go without saying 'Gogy' ‘- feat. TapL, Phil, George
This team got first place four games in a row, had everyone in the top ten at one point, and looked great doing it. Wilbur’s chemistry with TapL and George despite having not made much content with them is off the charts, and it’s generally just such a fun vod to watch. Not only that, but their complete dominance and ease in so many games make this a really satisfying pov to watch, making this a rare vod where the gameplay and jokes are both at the top of their game. their communication and morale and skills and insane battle box comeback make this vod my favorite mcc team for Wilbur.
8. ‘Ultimate Chicken Horse (Post-nap stream)’ - feat. Niki, Fundy, Phil, and Tommy
Just a good time. Peak early dream smp content groups where people were just trying different dynamics out. Fundy shrieking when he died, everyone doing so poorly. They spend twenty minutes at the beginning trying to get Tommy to leave so Niki can play, some random dude accidentally joins. Cinema.
7. ‘Text-To-Speech Mediashare’ - feat. Phil’s assistance
Chaotic energy in the year of our lord 2020. The premise is simple: typing in chat activates a voice command, such as the word “clap” producing a clapping sound. This, as you can imagine, goes horribly, and breaks several times, while generally being overwhelming. At one point, Wilbur thinks he broke the entirety of twitch. This is where the clip of him reacting to the pigeon’s head coming off is from, it’s top tier.
6. ‘Minecraft 100 Player Lab Rat Experiment’ - feat. Technoblade
Definitely the best 100p in stream format, although I prefer the edited videos of some others, which is what keeps the moles and birds stream off this list. This is peak techbur content, what more can I say. uhhhh the techno burning his hand story makes me laugh every time I hear it, give it a watch.
5. ‘drunk geoguessr and minecraft with Niki, Fundy’ - feat. Fundy, Tubbo, Niki, Jack
Literally does “drunk christmas eve stream with dream smp gang” need more explanation? Drunk mamma mia!! Drunk geoguessr! Wilbur gives a giant sappy rant about how he loves his audience! Tubbo accidentally making Wilbur and Jack chug a ton of vodka is a highlight, but the whole stream just has a bubbly chaotic energy that really bottled the late 2020 dream smp vibes.
4. 'It's time for monopoly‘- feat. Niki, Minx
It is a three-hour vod of actually playing monopoly and it is the funniest gameplay of it I’ve seen in my life. Minx doesn’t know how to play monopoly and struggles the entire time, yet somehow, she’s winning for a majority of it. It’s the most shit-talky we’ve ever seen Wilbur be. featuring bits such as ‘Pussy so good gotta put it in jail- uh’, ‘it’s free parking you stupid bitch’, Minx taking so long on her turns that Wilbur starts timing them, and Minx trying to think of warm places to go and only being able to think of Spain. Wilbur comes from behind to win the whole thing through psychological warfare, Minx loses her shit. Iconic. It’s one of those streams where the full three-hour experience is needed to feel the relief when Wilbur wins, and yet it doesn’t drag at all.
3. LAST HOUSE STREAM Short fun improv n that with Jack and Tommy - feat. Jack, Tommy
This is Wilbur’s funniest stream. Ever. I’ve watched it like five times and it still makes me laugh hysterically, it’s the peak of crimeboys humor. While everyone has their favorite bits, there’s really not a bad one, but finding out that Tommy does a great Karen accent and Jack and Wilbur rping distraught girlfriends are highlights. It’s just. So funny. Watch it.
2. skyblock randomizer finale - feat. my tears
I don’t think the vod even exists anymore, but the edited video does. It’s notorious for making people cry, and for good reason. I talk about it more here, but what made this series so unique was Wilbur’s ability to carry a story entirely solo, in such a solitary and empty environment. It shows how simple it is for people to get attached to things, for them to build a home and find things to love, and it’s all over a pixelated fish.
1. Quackity Wine Stream - feat. Quackity, George
It’s all fresh in our minds, so I’m sure I don’t have to recap too much, but this is easily the best of the “Wilbur is rambling freely about whatever topic comes to mind” streams that actually exist on Wilbur’s channel. Wilbur and Quackity have amazing chemistry and just have really candid conversations about their friendship and content creation as a whole, once they get started there’s not really a moment of uninteresting discussion. Plus, the fact that they’re getting progressively more drunk is an added bonus, also Wilbur’s beret is really cute. Who knows if it’ll stay my favorite as time passes but it is rn

Entertainment Spotlight: Kylie Jefferson, Tiny Pretty Things
If you recently binge-watched Tiny Pretty Things, you may recognize Kylie Jefferson, who stars as Neveah. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Kylie began dancing at just four-years-old. By age six, she was the youngest student accepted to academy level at the prestigious Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA). As her passion for ballet grew, Kylie came to split her preteen summers between DADA and Washington D.C.’s Kirov Academy of Ballet. She graduated from Boston Conservatory in 2016 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in contemporary dance. Kylie’s first gig as a choreographer was for ScHoolboy Q’s “CHopstix” (featuring Grammy-Award nominee Travis Scott) which earned her a Universal Dance Awards nomination for Favorite Music Video Performance. On stage, Kylie has performed at various award shows, including the 2020 Grammy Awards and the NAACP Image Awards.
Can you take us through a typical day on the set of Tiny Pretty Things?
Usually starting with an early morning, arriving to set around 6:30am. After eating breakfast, arrive at hair and makeup (which was a hotspot on our set, always a good time and space to soak up some love). Then I’d get into wardrobe and arrive on set to block the upcoming scene; this would be a time for me to also work with our acting coach Maria or scene partner. On dance days, we would have time set aside to warm up—with a cast ballet class for those whose schedules permitted, or on our own. I always loved to sneak away and use the Pilates reformer that was actually built as a prop for the show. We were allowed and encouraged to utilize the gym equipment props. After shooting a few scenes, I would most likely have a rehearsal, an acting session, wardrobe fitting, and lunch/dinner. Being Kylie, lol, I always slid a nap in during that time. I’d come back to set to film another scene and wrap up the day around 2am.
You’ve been dancing since you were four years old. What are the most important lessons that dance has taught you?
Work ethic.
Tapping into emotions.
“What you do in rehearsal is what you do in performance.”
How did your experience as a lifelong dancer impact how you approached the role of Neveah in Tiny Pretty Things?
For me, it was remembering some of my own experiences. Neveah also struggles with emotions Kylie never knew how to properly articulate, so there were scenes where Neveah gave me a chance to show up for moments in my life I had not healed from or handled properly.
What do you geek out about?
It’s the little things for me, chocolate chip cookies have my whole heart. Pilates is my fav! And who doesn’t love a brand new pair of pointe shoes?!!
What’s a fun fact about the making of Tiny Pretty Things that fans would be surprised to find out?
Some of the photos on Neveah’s bedroom wall at The Archer school are actually of amazing dancers I’ve known for years: Chloe Arnold (Syncopated Ladies & choreographer of Late Late Show w/ James Corden) and Ashley Nicole Mayeux (Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Alvin Ailey). I was so thrilled to be able to include women who’ve inspired me along my journey. It was also extremely cool to be a part of the process in that way.
Describe each of the following in one word: Who you are, what you value the most, and what you’d be if you were a food item.
Who I am: everything.
What I value most: self-love.
What I’d be if I were a food item: chocolate chip cookie!
Thanks for taking the time, Kylie! Tiny Pretty Things is now streaming on Netflix.

Jerma985 (or Jerma for short) is a streamer and entertainer that focuses often on surreal humor. He's been active for about 10 years and got his start on YouTube. His first bit of fame picked up when he covered the game Team Fortress 2, as a lot of people thought he was funny, and were amused by how much he looked and sounded like the Scout from that game. He made videos with fellow entertainer Ster_, which boosted both of their viewership.
In the earlier days, he did some live-action skits devoid of any video game content. My favorite was the Dork Cube, which was a skit making fun of other YouTubers, especially during the big lootbox-type merch craze of the time. He started to do higher-end bits during his time on YouTube, like his Live Action Jerma Rumble, which involved renting a studio, hiring some actors, and putting together a show featuring some of the fictional characters he crafted over the course of his YouTube career, like Grandpa and Glueman and Demon Lord Zeraxos. We are skipping over some things like the Grandpa-Machinima stuff, but I'm trying to touch on some of the more important, key elements, and Jerma's habit for going overboard is definitely worth touching on.
He eventually switched over completely to streaming. As a performer that thrives on chaos, he got on really well with the improvisational humor (and low impulse control) that comes really easily to him when interacting with chat. When his creativity strikes him, he will often put whatever he was doing on hold to make sure he gets through with a bit. His tendency to go nuts with his bits is most likely why Jerma clip compilations are all over YouTube. I wanted to link a clip compilation as an example but there's so many to pick from. This is the most recent one in my liked, so try it out, I guess.
The presence of the Dollhouse in that clip compilation lets me segue into how those high production skits from YouTube evolved on Twitch. The innovator that Jerma is, he's participated in several streams that changed the game somewhat -- he held a Carnival in which chat inputted commands to a robot in order to play carnival games, he did the Dollhouse in which he was a chat-controlled Sim alongside a set of actors in which insane scenarios occurred, he did Fantasy Baseball which was a game of baseball played between clowns and magicians with the addition of power cards and fantasy elements, he did several streams in which he just did weird shit in front of a green screen, he did a stream where he opened geodes and cracked rocks with geologists (which was a set-up for the reveal of his very own card game, Grotto Beasts!). These are often seen as enjoyable, genius events. If I remember correctly, the peak numbers for Dollhouse was at about 50-52k viewers at one time, not even touching the views that the VODs have gotten.
He's also well known for becoming deranged at times and going on iconic rants, such as the Meatgrinder Rant, the I'm Killing You Rant, the Alien Rant, and so much more (<- another clip compilation). Most of them, I think, are just bits and him hamming up a persona, but some of that is definitely just uncensored Jerma going off. He also makes a lot of fucking weird noises.
One of the reasons he took off in popularity in the past few years was because of the Sus Guy edit one of his fans made and spread. The irony being that Jerma had never played Among Us when this meme got out. Regardless, it was 2020, Among Us was popular, and nobody had anything better to do. Jerma's face became a meme, and with it, knowledge of him spread. This encouraged many other fans, mostly teens, to make more fucked up edits of his face, many of which also spread like wildfire. His previously mentioned green screen streams helped, as well, as they provided a way to superimpose Jerma's weird ass personality onto anything else. He held Green Screen Movie Nights to watch the edits people did of him with the rest of his community.
There are some recurring jokes about him, like how he's a psycho serial killer freak. These jump off his wild rants or bits, but are also pretty ironic. Jerma's actual personality, while there are lapses of bizarre behavior, is very wholesome, actually. He's notorious for being a genuine, sweet, silly, humble, encouraging, nice fella. He's relatively unproblematic, across his career he's expressed support for the LGBT community explicitly (including a moment where he explicitly condemns transphobia in his chat), he loves gardening and showing us his sunflower children, and his dog is his best friend. Something I've loved especially is the brilliant advice he's given that has genuinely helped me and continues to help me. Like this dude just rocks.
He's a very inspiring and motivating figure to a lot of people. Unfortunately the relationship gets a touch too parasocial, which leads to a lot of fans saying incredibly fucked up things, or invading his privacy. As a couple of the clips I've linked show, people used to treat him like a therapist before he turned off notifications on twitch. There seems to be some disconnect in which his fans dehumanize him and forget he's a real person (and sometimes it feels like the whole meme that he's "not real" just encourages this shit). But he's good at letting shit roll off his back.
Memes aside, I just think he's neat, and I like to watch thousands of hours of his stream content while doing other things like drawing or homework or writing or playing mindless games. He's inspired me a lot. I think he's worth checking out if you've the stomach for it. His more recent streams, like over this past year, are very relaxed if you'd prefer chiller vibes, but there's plenty of chaos to be had if you prefer that, too. The Jerma Stream Archive is doing God's work.
If you have any further questions or comments, go for it. But for now, End Transmission.
