in recon by fire when laswell gets abducted, did shepherd tip off al-qatala that she'd be there? bc wasn't it a cartel outpost? why was al-qatala there? i know they were working together but why is it al-qatala specifically that takes her instead of it being a group effort?

it would be a huge benefit to have laswell, and by extension price and gaz, out of the picture while he scrambles to fix his mess since she is pretty much his biggest obstacle (and knows it which is why he’s so quick to not let her near the missiles)

the way he tries to drag out her rescue - "we can't just send in the cavalry, these things take planning and preparation" - only to agree to send price and gaz by themselves, presumably thinking it would just be them (since he doesn’t seem to believe in allies or trust) and they'd either take a long time and be preoccupied or fail to get her back altogether and die in the process

it takes these huge pieces off the board; other than the missiles themselves his only obstacle is ghost and soap and his next step is to take them out. the way he doesn't hesitate to put them under a kill order makes you think he expected the other half of the 141 to also be dead

Mark Scout, as we know, would go on hikes and stuff with devon and ricken when gemma was alive, so I do feel like he's probably kind of outdoorsy (though not really athletic). strikes me as being sort of a family thing, i bet mark and devon went camping and stuff as kids.

Helena Eagan does not have hobbies. (as in I feel like she's not really given the leeway to have them. based on her innie though I feel like she'd fuck with kickboxing and competitive sports- maybe tennis? also she should be at the cluuuuub)

Dylan George strikes me as a gamer tbh- both in terms of video games (he picked up that overtime contingency konami code mad quick) and probably sports as well (I think soccer for him for whatever reason). We see from his innie that he likes collecting things and has a competitive stream which makes me want desperately to see him play a board game with Helly tbh. I also feel like he'd be a bit of a movie geek.

Irving Bailiff has a clear interest in the arts- I imagine he likes going to museums, and probably has some interest in history as well. he also strikes me as someone who would enjoy a good play. I can also imagine him going for jogs or at least long walks with Radar.

Peter Kilmer, my very good friend, was DEFINITELY in a band when he was younger. We know he's a Rock Dad and that he plays an instrument (bass if I'm not mistaken!), and I feel like he's the type to collect some form of physical music (I'm inclined to say cassettes if for no other reason than that it lends itself to the theory that he snuck out the breakroom tape by unraveling and later reassembling it). I also think he's a bit of an artist, we know he's a doodler based on his map (honestly I have been trying to figure out what relevance the doodles on said map may hold, but I also know that Yul Vazquez drew the map himself and based it on his own work, so). I like to think he's a bit outdoorsy too but that may just be a combo of explaining to myself how he was surviving in a greenhouse and the fact that I like to think that him and mark would have gone on hikes together as outie friends

it's so bad sometimes they even catch wilson smiling while he pretends not to notice while house steals his wallet so he can empty out the vending machine for his favorite snacks. later when they're alone in house's office, house pulls out a couple bags of wilson's favorites he got while he was raiding the machine and tosses them over. the look on wilson's face is so dopey that house can't help but snicker and tell him to put in his notice of leave for his cycle soon because he is really swimming in it now

Looking up videos of elden ring combo theory is kind of maddening. There's tech and it looks cool but the engine and frame data are so obviously fighting you more often than not. I wish fromsoft would further embrace the comparison to fighting games at some point and build a game with useful target combos and such. Hitconfirms and things like routing and meter management are really cool skills to call for in a game, and it's always frustrating that they're like, purely lab monster shit more often than not in these things. I guess ultimately souls games are more dungeon crawling rpgs than action or fighting games, but they've been leaning in that direction increasingly since bloodborne, so I'm surprised they haven't committed more

speaking of zombie-Teru! the fevers he gets when he's defeated aren't "psychosomatic". they're sometimes caused by his mental state tanking, but they're not "fake". they're caused by his body trying to do too many things at once and his immune system losing the battle with zombie disease for a hot minute while his health rebuilds itself. when Teru gets too stressed out, he gets zombie brain fog and has to seclude himself for a while.

Speaking of some things being objectively better than others for very important reasons, I booted up my brother’s old copy of Hyrule Warriors yesterday and tried to get A-ranks in the adventure mode, only to gradually realize just how important the level-up system is, meaning that no matter how good you are, the only way to have a chance of getting A-ranks on the later stages is to grind until the enemies don’t take 5 whole minutes each to kill.

Then I ranted to myself in my room about how Ultrakill’s P-ranks are way better
