Meanwhile Toriel:
(Loud noises don't wake her up usually.)
Artist note: I’m so proud of this :))) I know it’s a lot of dialogue and reading, but dialogue is grueling work for me. I’m glad with the art and for the amount of pages I made in such a relatively short time span -w- page 5 was super fun to work on. A lot of blood, sweat, and hours here... :) The backgrounds were a big bore tbh, but I finished them! Yippie!

As a tennis throuple truther, I generally don’t believe Patrick loves Art more than Tashi. I definitely believe he’s loved him for much longer but I think it is more obvious in the latter part of the movie how much Patrick loves Art because he spent so long hiding it behind jokes and intimate touches that could be interpreted any which way. There was no way he would jeopardize the most important relationship in his life. He was assured that their friendship would last, he was content… until it falls apart.
Art is ice. He’s reserved and quiet, and though that balances out Patrick, it also makes him harder to understand (especially after the falling out). Patrick used to be able to read him but they’ve spent too long apart and now Patrick doesn’t know what to do except be more forward, more obvious.
In a way, Patrick is more sure of how Tashi feels about him than how Art feels. (He used to know, or he thinks he used to know but not quite).
There’s too much history there, too much yearning, too much heartbreak. Their relationship is loaded and while Patrick is sure of how much Tashi wants him and what she wants from him, he has no fucking idea what Art wants (mostly cuz Art doesn’t know either).

What's so fun about BruJay as a ship is Jason's sheer obsessive devotion to Bruce. Jason is possessive over Bruce, to the point he doesn't care about the deaths of others so long as he has Bruce's attention. A part of the UTRH arc this isn't talked about enough is that Bludhaven fucking explodes mid-way and Jason won't let Bruce see if Dick is alive.
batman (1940) #650
A lot of discussion about UTRH paints Jason as this anger-driven cold, calculating machine up against Bruce when it's so clear that his love for Bruce is what drives him at his root, even if he won't acknowledge it. He says it himself, he would've done anything if it was Bruce who'd died instead of him and his anger is rooted in that possessive devotion not being reciprocated.
batman (194) #650
BruJay as a ship always to be, to some level, unrequited. Even if Bruce loves Jason back in that way, he'll never be that obsessed with Jason. Jason will always view Bruce's love for Dick or Tim to be a distraction, proof that Bruce isn't dedicated enough to him. Jason has the need to always have Bruce's attention, even when it could come at the cost of Bruce's other loved ones. Something something cannibalism as a metaphor for love in how Jason wants to consume Bruce's whole existence. He can't let Bruce leave him again, can't let Bruce love or grieve anyone else. Forcing Bruce to choose between Jason and the Joker isn't just about confronting Jason's killer, it's about confronting the other person who exists as this duality with Bruce and consumes so much of Bruce's life. That's the role Jason wants to fill, calling himself Red Hood and forcing Bruce to look at what he's become. But still loving Bruce and wanting more than anything for Bruce to reciprocate that love in the way that Jason understands. I just think it's good soup and rife with Dynamics that are underexplored with them.

Sibling Shuffle: The Darkman Problem
FINALLY FINISHED. WHOOOOOOO!
I’m a bit iffy about some of the dialogue (idk of its awkward or not) but I finished this late at night and don’t want to change it right now
A bit of context: the question this minicomic is based on is right here. For those who don’t know, back in January I posted to my main blog a question I had about Megaman 5: Did Dr. Light know that the Protoman who kidnapped him in the intro was not the actual Protoman?
While it’s hard to say for sure for the original universe (though if you have an opinion / evidence suggesting either way please share in the original post), there is a VERY clear answer for this universe…
…And that answer is yes, yes he did.
No one who actually interacted with Rock before thought Darkman was him lol
Darkman was trying to go for a "without direction / family / a home, turned to crime" kind of thing. And that’s like. Contrary to his function.
Random civilians? Yeah, most of them could believe it. The Robot Master attacks and fact he once worked for Wily weren’t really helping. His family? Absolutely not! Everyone who knows Rock knows he’s a sweet kid who wouldn’t intentionally hurt anyone unless there was no other way.
(Idk if it’s clear but that’s basically what Dr. Light is saying: “your disguise is so bad, you didn’t even grab me or gesture with the correct hand. I doubt literally anyone this was supposed to fool actually fell for it.”)
————
Rock is left-handed! They made him a leftie in the games for readability, I believe - it would look weird if he fired from his right hand; he’d have to turn his body to face away from the audience. I try to keep it so he gestures with the left hand more than his right, but I’m not the best at The Focus Thing™️ and I may have drawn him gesturing with his right accidentally a few times.
To distinguish between Rock and Darkman, I desaturated Darkman’s colors a bit!
I didn’t feel like doing much for backgrounds. The one in this comic is a slightly-edited screenshot from a scene in the game taking place at the very end.
"It was at this moment that Darkman IV knew: he ****ed up"
—————
Next Up: Cave In
As always, please ask any questions you have!

[ID: A digital illustration of Apollo Justice from Ace Attorney. He is holding a pencil up with the eraser end near his mouth, looking off to the right with a thoughtful expression. Behind him is a blue background in the rough shape of a shouting speech bubble. End description.]
Found some time to draw Apple Juice <3
