starting off strong with morrigan. for reasons i hope are evident i think she is absolutely a gothic girlie, she’s probably got an affinity for poe. i’d say her favourite is the raven, though unlike most poe fan girls i don’t see her as someone who is able to yap endlessly about why she likes him. she’s quite reserved with her interests after all. i imagine she’s capable of giving solid but simple reasons to justify herself when asked (pressed) by her friends but otherwise keeps her thoughts internal.

cadence, this might be a hear me out, has an adoration for oscar wilde. my first thought was dracula actually but as someone who is perpetually cursed to be forgotten i think she’d enjoy the way wilde writes. she finds society frivolous and rather stupid, and wilde is prompt to agree with her on this. i’d say her favourite text is the importance of being earnest, as it’s possibly the most ridiculous piece of nonsense ever, entirely on purpose.

hawthorne was a hard one, as i don’t think he willingly reads anything that he could preemptively deem “boring”. i had to shake my brain like a maraca to try think of something easy and entertaining enough to keep his white boy adhd brain locked in long enough for him to intake it. the conclusion drawn was that i think he could survive through three men in a boat (sincerest apologies she’s a little niche). i found it funny enough, i think hawthorne is capable of switching off his brain and blindly enjoying it.

anah. well. i adore her greatly and i was a little in between. i think she’d ADORE little women. i think she has incredibly strong opinions on all the film remakes and could give you an extensive breakdown of the pros and cons. however. i also think the only CORRECT choice with her is pride and prejudice. she seems like she enjoys a good love story that has her giggling and kicking her legs it just befits her.

now, archan. if you ask he will lie to your face, he will very confidently say the most pretentious book he can think of. this is because his favourite classic dodie smith’s i capture the castle. which isn’t embarrassing by any means, but it is a very silly romance novel (i am strongly passionate about it). i think he likes to read casually more than obsessively and it’s a relatively easy read, and if you get the right copy the cover makes you look very distinguished in public.

mahir was harder as i had to test my knowledge of various translations across the world. he’s definitely a poetry type, i think he likes collections of poems as opposed to large brick novels. poems are more entertaining to translate and test your skill far more. i think he’d like mahmoud darwish (who is unfortunately NOT a classical author but i wanted to bring him up anyway), so i’m marking his as leaves of grass by walt whitman. which i strongly recommend to all poetry enjoyers out there. he definitely would get into translation purism beef online if he could. i know it in my heart.

so francis was kind of hard. i was actually tempted to be sneaky and pick an old recipe book as his favourite without specifying BUT i concluded through my non biased perfectly objective opinions he’s an agatha christie enjoyer. poisoning and cooking are sort of born of the same mother. to me at least. his favourite is dumb witness, as it features a brilliant dog. full disclaimer that’s the one i am presently reading, so i don’t know everything that occurs in it, but i know in my heart he would enjoy this.

thaddea was hard, man. i expended my one easy ish to read comedy on hawthorne and i refuse to repeat. then i remembered treasure island. which i also have not finished (someone stole my copy when i was 50 pages in). i don’t actually think she banks too hard on humour to get through books, she more so is interested in action and adventure. i actually think thaddea enjoys to read, she just has a hard time keeping herself focussed and finding the time to sit down and enjoy it, so she probably leans toward audiobooks.

lambeth. well. i opted against the one i initially was thinking of not because it wouldn’t fit just because i considered the discussion that surrounds it and concluded i didn’t feel compelled to dig into that here. she’s definitely a prose enjoyer, she has probably the most “refined” taste save for maybe mahir (i like to believe they talk books together frequently). after much consideration i concluded on black beauty. on account of the fact that it’s my (second) favourite and i think she would appreciate how gorgeous the craftsmanship is.

(Another ramble incoming - this one I’ve been sitting on for a bit. But it’s about Bebou & the French. And the jail incident. And also bla bla bla this is about the characters)

I might be wrong but I really think that if some of the french agree with q!bbh about the government being bad/anarchy being good thing… it’s not because Bad managed to convince them that q!forever is some horrible dictator with his wily demon cunning and manipulative silvertongue or something. it’s because. they just. agree with his views and sympathize with him. Like they just sometimes think Bad has a point, is the thing. Now I know Bad likes to spread misinformation but he rarely does it in a way that can really be taken seriously, or have any big effect (with a few… exceptions).

Bad likes to jokingly blame Forever for like anything and everything but if anyone actually presses him about it (I’m pretty sure pierre, antoine, and etoiles all have to varying degrees) he’s pretty quick to emphasize that he trusts Forever’s judgment and moral compass.

Or he used to. Until he got pushed into a cage trap. It’s clear he lost a significant amount of trust in Forever and everyone else who was involved with that. And he suspected Forever (or Cellbit) of framing him, but I’d say that’s relatively reasonable considering, from his perspective, they jumped to a conclusion with no proof. He doesn’t understand why they wouldn’t hear him out, so he’s looking for a reason. And he’s telling other people not because he’s trying to spread misinfo but because that’s just what he believes and usually, he’s telling people because they’re asking him.

Anyway, Pierre didn’t really steal the waystones because he automatically believed everything Bad said about Forever being a dictator immediately and with no hesitation. If he accepted or encouraged what Bad said, it’s because he probably already agreed to some extent. Pierre, Antoine, Etoiles - they’re smarter than blindly accepting the truth from badboyhalo the Chronic Gossiper. And at least 2/3rds of them are also convinced that Bad and Forever are dating - so they’re not taking what Bad says about Forever that seriously.

If you ask me: Pierre did it because he was probably already more politically aligned with Bad’s anarchist ideals than he ever was with Forever’s and, most importantly, because he witnessed Bad get jailed unfairly with his OWN. TWO. EYEBALLS. LIKE HE SAW THAT. HE WAS THERE.

How did he know Bad was framed? He TALKED TO HIM. He went to his base and had a conversation with him and of the two (count it with me - TWO) people that actually heard Bad out that day (Foolish and Pierre) both of them came out of the conversation believing he wasn’t the culprit. Wouldn’t you know it - communication solved that conflict pretty fast, but Bad didn’t get a chance to communicate to Forever or anyone else because they almost immediately dogpiled him. And Pierre saw that happen.

And I’m pretty sure he also saw Forever hold a vote and then accept that Bad was guilty of a crime. A crime. That isn’t illegal. That he didn’t even do in the first place.

So. I’m sure you can see why Pierre might feel the urge to defend Bad - maybe even from Forever specifically, and of his own volition. Although I can’t say stealing all the waystones and rearranging them into a pentagram above Forever’s house was a particularly reliable method of doing so, nor can I say Bad really needed the protection - Forever had no malicious intent and was fully trying to be fair. (can you tell im a q!forever apologist? because if you can’t: he did nothing wrong. Maybe one day I will make a giant post about how much of a q!forever apologist i am).

Am I making sense. At all. It’s 2am. And I’m getting the sensation that I’m missing something with this one but I’m too tired to correct it so I’ll look at it later.

This might be a very unpopular opinion but can we please allow drivers to be messy again? I like the friendships just as much as anyone but come on, you are lying if you say you weren't entertained by brocedes antics or Multi 21. Like I'm a big Ferrari fan and I love and support both Charles and Carlos but I eat it up every time they get spicy with each other on track. Did Monza stress me the fuck out? Absolutely but god I FUCKING LOVE that they went for it!!

They are racing drivers! Let them race and throw tantrums! Let them be bitchy on team radio! Let them demand a team order and let them also ignore a team order! Let them throw shade in interviews! Half the appeal of Carcar is the bitchiness of it all, its compelling and fun to follow!

Its just...sometimes this whole "we are one big happy racing family" feels so fake and PR, I think the sport would benefit even more from drivers being strong characters again. Fernando Alonso is probably the shadiest, most messy person alive and he still has adoring fans so it clearly works.

Ofc, for this to work the fans would need to have the emotional maturity to understand that this is how sports rivalries works and that to a certain level everyone is constantly competing with everyone and maybe thats where it all falls apart...

On Getting An Autism Diagnosis Paper- Sometimes It's Not All Good

I'm sorry but if you said that an autism diagnosis will help me to feel better about myself then why have you written those diagnosis papers making me sound like a cold-blooded psychopath?

The test itself is cruel too. Asking me to define friendship "in my own words" and then claiming I don't know what friendship is because my definition was something like "someone you feel you feel you can rely on and someone you feel good about being around and who you like". Then asking me why people might want to get... married?? And I responded, a tad taken aback, saying "well sometimes you might like someone a lot and want to make a commitment to being with that person and get closer to them. And you want to share your life with them." And... apparently that's weird/wrong too? Then asking me to describe a picture book with no words by making up a story... and then saying in the diagnosis papers that I was too descriptive. BUT I THOUGHT YOU WERE TESTING MY CREATIVITY????

The one that REALLY pisses me off though, is when they asked me how I react to different things and I said that sometimes I nervously laugh or smile at things that might gross me out or when I get anxious, and... that was written down as "finding morbid things or things that others would generally not find funny, amusing and makes them laugh- such as a cyclist getting hurt". Okay, I'm sorry, but WHAT THE FUCK?? Do you even fucking know how much that hurts? How much that can hurt people who are already feeling crap about themselves? Do you know how terrifying it is to see that written down as a "professional, clinical observation" of yourself that you know others, including family, are going to read and probably be alarmed by?

Also stuff like "has no weird or repetitive interests" and then THE NEXT PARAGRAPH DOWN goes on to detail how I am limited by my interests sometimes and that I have obsessions over things like vacuums and washing machines and old broadcasting stuff and TV programming idents and bumpers which I guess are just perfectly normal shit to create hundreds-of-hours long playlists and reading collections and media for. Maybe I'm just #quirky 🤪 then.

Honestly, I'm still so destroyed by those damn diagnosis papers even after years. How can something be so degrading and yet so underestimating (?) that it overreacts to my smallest troubles yet completely ignores my actual issues and support needs. I honestly cried, and still do, whenever I have to read that.

okay my immediate reaction was definitely like "uhmm no nothing will honestly never be that bad" but like. then i remembered that time that post that was like "dunmesh is SPECIAL bc it was only released EVERY TWO MONTHS which is why it's SO much better than all other animanga" got like 60k notes or some shit as if it wasn't full of misinfo that was easily fact checked so like. maybe??

Out of curiosity, do you plan to keep Quiet Rain traveling from the mountains to find her sons? And if so, how does that go? Specifically with a certain son who is no longer getting a redemption arc?

No, it bothers me immensely when WC says,

"These cats are on a long and perilous journey! It's full of dangers! They must rely on each other to survive!"

And then a few books later when they're bored of that, they're like

"Anyway this elderly grandparent made the journey all alone."

Even in the redux of Graystripe's Vow, Ferncloud's Parting, there's going to be 3 cats going back to Chelford. One of them is a young and able warrior, Bumblestripe.

So Quiet Wing is only going to appear as a ghost. Though it is funny that the narrative literally drags in the dictator's mom to scold him, there's just no point in my redux.

Sun Shadow is the only "second migration" Tribe Cat now. The rest are offspring of the main characters, and cats who were part of the River Kingdom and Wind Empire that the main characters are going to get to know better over time.

What are some of your "unpopular opinions" regarding EEnE? Anything from fanon, shipping, your own head canons, the show overall, etc.

The one thing that comes to mind is I don't care for "crappier" adult headcanons for the characters. As realistic it may be, and fitting for the show's sense of humor, I find it kinda overdone. I'd rather indulge in a more positive outlook for any of the kids, as dull as that might make me 🥴 Most people would agree, at least with the Eds, but my personal issue was I was never a fan of my boi Kevin getting headcanons such as "middle-management twat", 🤣 know what I mean? I can see how it would fit with the "has-been who peaked in high school" stereotype, especially if you dislike him and see him as a boring popular kid or what else. And it's really weird cause it does feel very compelling to me, but I personally end up sticking to more "pleasant" headcanons, even something humble like a mechanic, I just don't wanna see adult Kevin like one those guys you've met in real life 😭 you know the ones lol. And I don't care for the idea of a character's life sucking as karma for when they were an asshole as a preteen, if that makes sense? I mean they're all (more or less) latchkey kids without the proper guidance to help them be better, and "kids can be mean" is one of the themes of the show. If we're gonna write off Kev then we might as well make adult Sarah into a Karen and Jimmy as the c**t who dropped her behind and left her in the dust LMAO...
