Happy wip Wednesday tho!!! This week @happiness-of-the-pursuit made a comment about how my horrible stay-alive-during-law-school-finals-week juice should be in a fic and I ran with it, so there you guys go!!

It was inadvisable. Alex knew it was inadvisable the first time he did it, and he knew it the second time he did it. By the third time he was so high on caffeine, his hands were shaking, but one might argue attending law school was inadvisable as well. So Red-Bull lattes it is.

And it’s not like he meant to create this monstrous concoction in the first place. The milk his annoyingly perfect and considerate asshole of a roommate placed on his desk, along with a can of already opened Red-Bull, the cinnamon shaker and the mug holding his three shot of espressos (waiting for the addition of milk to his liking, decreasing by the increase of his stress level) were all next to each other. So when he accidentally picked the can and poured the contents of it inside his mug, it wasn’t on purpose.

But it got him an A on his Constitution Law paper so the next time he had a big dead-line coming up he did it again.

And now after mainlining three of them, running across campus for his Tort Law final, the tightness in his chest seems like a predictable outcome. What Alex doesn’t expect is for his arms to go tingly and lose the sensation in his legs. His vision goes blurry, the ground coming closer and closer. And the last thing his mind registers before it all goes black is the incessant ringing in his phone and Henry’s contact name- ‘HRH Dickhead 💩’ popping up on his screen.

How do I decide a career field?

I mean my entire self esteem, self worth and self confidence is destroyed. I hate myself. I don’t think I’m capable of doing anything. I like art, even though it’s very hard for me to do I’m pushing myself to explore as much as I can. I am thinking of going into data analysis but it’s so overwhelmingly scary for me.

I have an MD, but i can’t pursue it because of my mental health issues.

Okay so I might not be the best person to talk about this, because I figured out that career just isn't important to me when I'm just trying to survive, so I don't think any field is worth chasing or putting effort into, for me at least! Job is just something that gives you the means to get survival resources and that is it.

Otherwise I really relate to what you're saying, I also don't feel like I'd be good at any field, don't feel like I'm made for anything and can't see myself doing anything specialized seriously. It's also very difficult to choose a field when you've never gotten to try bunch of things, never had experience doing stuff and you don't really know what you'd enjoy, what you like, or at least what doesn't feel too stressful, overwhelming and impossible.

It's incredibly impressive that you have a MD, that alone signifies great endurance, persistence and intelligence on your part, and it's awful that mental health issues prevent you from doing anything related to it (I feel the same tho, my degree is in the closet, never seen or used at all lol)

I think the best way to decide is to talk to people who work in various fields and ask them what their day-to-day work is like, and figure out where you see yourself, where you fall in easily, or at least what seems doable, not too stressful, not overwhelming. What doesn't make you hate yourself. I'm just doing cleaning but I couldn't be more pleased because it's very obvious when I've done well and it's so low stakes that pretty much nothing can go wrong. Nobody ever complains either. In fact yesterday I got a text message from a client saying I did amazing, I mean that kind of stuff is ideal to my mental state.

I think we're raised to believe that our career needs to be something very significant, something that creates a place for us in the world, the proof that we're useful to society and that we made something out of ourselves! We need to show off our success and our identity needs to be tied to what we do. And we need to be good at it and make a difference in the world with it.

Well in the current capitalistic climate, this is bullshit. The only socially useful jobs are the ones which get no recognition, no social acceptance, no praise, no acknowledgment, in fact you're looked down upon if you just do manual jobs that are incredibly necessary to keep the society going.

The jobs where you can reach high success and high paycheck - are the ones that make rich people richer, and that is not what I'm about. I mean it's not what anyone really wants to do, but it's the only thing that is considered successful and admirable, and I hate it, don't want to participate in it, makes me want to run away from capitalism.

And also it's a myth that you need to be really good at your job because people do bad jobs constantly and get paid and they don't feel bad at all, lots are bad on purpose and use their jobs to do evil, and get away with it, so there's no pressure to be perfect at your job. If it gets done thats all that matters.

So if you can find anything that just fulfills the purpose of getting your survival resources to you, go for it. If you feel like data analysis is what makes you pleased and happy, go for that. If art makes you feel good, you can do that too! You don't have to have only one job, you can change jobs multiple times during your life, it doesn't need to define who you are, you are not here to serve the society, you're here to survive and you can do your job for yourself only. It's supposed to serve you, not the other way around. You don't exist only to do your job. You exist to be safe, and happy, and fulfilled, and safe. A job is supposed to do this for you, and it doesn't matter which one, as long as you're not being tormented by stress and fear, it's fine.

So what I'm trying to say, the world should not pressure you into making a quick decision, you should take your time trying out stuff and finding what works for you, and what doesn't make you feel awful about yourself. And also if it helps, everyone has a sort of a low confidence when only starting! Everyone is bad at everything when they're starting. Confidence will come with experience, when you see yourself getting better at something trough the years, you will get a chance to gather some faith in yourself and know you're doing well. You can follow any interest you have, regardless of how well or bad you're at it, as long as it can secure you some income. It's okay to be bad at first too because everyone is kinda bad at first.

Also, I've seen some people incredibly confident in their work while doing an awful job at it, it was pretty scary. Like they were doing active harm to society and didn't understand how anything actually worked but boasted about how capable they are because they were picking up a high paycheck. When I think there's people like that, and then others are worried about not being good at anything, it makes me stunned. I truly believe that no matter what you do, you'll never do as much harm as some high-paid people out there.

I hope you don't have a horrible time deciding anon! It's a difficult spot in life for anyone, so don't worry if it takes a bit of time or if you choose something and then quit, it just brings you a step closer to what you actually like doing, and it's a good thing to try things out and pick out the one that works best for you.

(Yo! Sorry this took so long but I also was lazy and didn't write a oneshot, just headcannons. This may get a oneshot in the future tho. I also a sorta modern au? Anyways, enjoy!)

Let me get this clear, it's the most fun, chaotic and blood pressure spiking day anyone in this family has ever endured

Vander packed food, Benzo packed essentials, and Silco watched them pack while buying shit for his favorite niece Powder

But Silco forces everyone to wear sunscreen

Powder liked collecting the seashells around

She had like this toy sifter and would go around and sift out the sand to find those little sand bugs and seashells

Vi goes out and collects sea shells for her sister out farther from shore

Powder 10/10 loves the wildlife around there

She finds a crab and throws it at you.

Names it Jeremiah, gives him a mission, and throws him at you

There is no mercy.

She and you dig a hole, a giant one at that

She saw a video online where you cover it with a towel and wait

Your victims were Vi and Ekko

They both just walked over and BOOM

Both their asses down in the ground

Vi was yelling at you guys as she had to lit Ekko out to go get Vander

And you guys dug a MASSIVE hole

A deep one too so much so that Vander laughed so hard when he saw Vi down there

Had to pull her up with Benzos help

Ekko found it funny while Vi did not

Vi chased you both around for the longest time before you both hid from her with Silco

Man's was determined to hide you both, you guys are his favorite

He doesn't hide it either

Powder love, love LOVES making elaborate sand castles

It's a full on job

She forces everyone to participate

It's like a construction site

Forces everyone to have a job

And if anyone breaks a part or messed up, Powder is scary man

Takes her sand castles very seriously

Powder also burries you in the sand

Promises to get you out but doesn't hold up her promise

She finds Jeremiah and leaves him there with you as your stuck in the ground

Vi also picks up Powder and body slams her sister into the big ass waves crashing into them

Powder nearly drowns and has to be saved because she inhaled salt water

A better part of the day is going under water for a minute with goggles on and laying on the sand while looking up through the waves

It's so pretty and she loves it while she can before you both have to go up for air

Powder is that child to be playing mermaids with

She gives the game lore and everything

She finds seaweed and stares at Mylo for a hot minute before she chases after him with it

Mylo hates seaweed with a burnjng passion, the feeling of it is just his major ick

Powder is also one to play chicken fight with you

She's on Vi's shoulders while you are on Claggor's

She loses

And Powder is PETTY asf

She almost drowns you guys with water guns while she forces Vander to be on her side

Vander is just happy to torture his kids

In a fun way tho it's okay sweetie

Also, right when everyone starts to pack up for the day and head home

Vander does a head count and misses three people

You, Powder and Ekko were all missing

Most definitely had an "Oh, shit." Moment

Silco is yelling, Vi is panicking, Benzo is looking for his kid, Claggors is having a panic attack, and Mylo couldn't give two shits

Less kids to annoy him

But he is the one to first point it out

"Found them."

"Where?!" 

Everyone just watched as he points out to sea and looked in horror to see you, Powder and Ekko drifting away on a watermelon floatie

Ekko is waving happily and Powders playing ship captain and you're paddling away with your feet

Que everyone having to run out and swim to go get your asses

Once you gets almost drowned, get scolded, Silco breaks it up

"How dare you yell at them!"

That's him all the time

Is the meme of the dad holding his kid in towels as everyone is just annoyed

But out of everything, it was an amazing day with the people you love most

Vander just needs to now take blood pressure medication

Vi won't let Powder go

Ekkos grounded, but happily

Mylo still couldn't give two shits

Hi all, taking @carlos-in-glasses open tag and posting again, bc even tho friday's post wasn't worth much, it helped me get over my anxiety :) Still chugging away on this, I made a post header and everything! This WIP has been a labor of love I've been working on for quite some time. This snippet is kind of sad, but I promise there is an HEA for this fic 🤍 I have no idea when I'll be done, but I'm working on it!

Alex removes his own coat, leaving his dinner jacket and black tie intact. He’s not sure where Henry’s going with this, but he wants him to relax so he just follows his lead. Alex has a sneaking suspicion this situation is not exactly proper, but he can’t be sure of the etiquette really. Movies and TV only do so much. 

Henry paces a few laps of the sitting room before stopping in front of a full length mirror propped against the far wall, away from where Alex has situated himself on the small settee. He watches as Henry stares at himself, eyes roving up and down his own body like he’s cataloging flaws, and that just won’t do. There is nothing that isn’t beautiful and wonderful and right about this man, Alex thinks. He knows Henry is constantly self-deprecating, constantly building up others at his own expense, and even in just the three days they’ve known each other Alex has come to hate it. It saddens him that this man clearly believes he never has been nor ever will be enough for anyone, and Alex has often wondered during these last few days what that means for Henry when the unthinkable inevitably comes later on tonight.

Will he even try to save himself?

That thought jolts Alex’s heart so hard he’s standing up again before he realizes. He walks over to Henry, pausing just behind him, the fabric of their fancy clothes nearly brushing. He puts his hands on Henry’s shoulders, lightly at first, then settling as he watches those shoulders unclench even a little at his touch. They stare at each other in the mirror’s reflection, eyes meeting and holding, and Alex’s heart gives another painful squeeze. He wills himself not to think of what will happen in just a few hours, what will become of Henry when Alex is gone. He forbids himself from thinking of it, or he won’t survive himself.

The thing with Sincaraz is even tho Jannik has seemed cold to Carlos on occasion, I don’t think they disliked each other( unlike how some make it seem) with igaryna I do think Aryna was genuinely tripping balls with how Iga became a multi slam champion so quickly in comparison to her. Idk if it ever got to the point of disliking each other, but you could tell the relationship took a hit after Iga’s success. Which makes them so much more interesting to analyze.

ok i do have to pull away slightly from my own projections...i actually want to talk about this more objectively because it is really really interesting to me

tbh yeah i don't think jannik or carlos have ever disliked each other. jannik maybe has been more indifferent or distant at points but it was always very clear (to me at least) that they had a good relationship on and off the court, even if it seemed one-sided at points. i mean the whole thing started with jannik being the one to say "i hope we play some more," so that sort of dispels any uncertainty that they're both actively participating in this rivalry/relationship.

the complicated(?) thing with igaryna is i think in part that yes, iga experienced so much success (including being a multi-slam champion) early on, but also specifically that this happened when aryna was experiencing literally the worst year of her career.

i honestly don't think prior to 2022 that aryna even cared that much about iga. 2021 was a good year for her, and you could clearly track the progress she was making from season to season. she was 22, turning 23, #2 in the world at the end of the 2021, with ash barty at #1 and iga down at #9. she even said that at the beginning of 2022, her goal was to end the year as #1 and to win a grand slam. so sure, iga had success, iga had a grand slam, but i don't think aryna had any reason to actually be primarily focused on iga over anyone else on tour.

and then 2022 happened and iga świątek happened and yeah. i do think it kinda drove aryna a bit crazy to see someone younger be that much better when, at the same time, she was completely devolving. it wasn't just the fact that she was losing but the way she was losing, and the way that iga was winning. she went 1-4 that year against iga (only win was at the finals), including the devastating uso semi loss. and yeah, if someone beat me four times in a row while i'm also going through the yips and have completely lost the ability to execute my most important shot...i would also be pissed!

quick interlude for some direct quotes from break point (which covered the 2022 season):

"this year, iga, she won everything. it was so annoying."

"yeah iga is the target for me. this season, she beat me like four times. i was really pissed off...so i really need this revenge for myself. i have to be physically, mentally ready for her."

"i have to be stronger than her. i have to be better than her. and with iga, if you lose your mind, then there is like, really zero chance to win."

won the semi against iga in fort worth and then lost against garcia in the final. so after thinking at the beginning of the year that she might have a chance at a grand slam and YE#1, instead she ends 2022 without a single title and at #5. meanwhile iga is #1 and broke like a gazillion records and had a crazy match winning streak and won two grand slams and also beat aryna four times in a row. so yeah, i think aryna's, as you said, "tripping balls."

in 2023 i think she's was still riding this wave, even after winning AO. you can definitely it see in their match-ups at stuttgart and madrid. ultimately i think the thing that changed their relationship most was aryna reaching #1, because a) i think for her that was a really important achievement and helped to ease the "performance gap" between her and iga and b) iga said that she felt like others were "chasing" her for #1 and that losing actually kinda helped to take the pressure off. so i think both of them "mellowed out" a bit. and additionally that their next match-up was cancún where the weather took precedent over everything else lmfao.

fast-forward to now, and they're at the point where iga is still ahead in terms of achievement but, as aryna herself said, they're keeping it interesting with the match-ups, and aryna is catching up (particularly in terms of consistency). 3 grand slams to 5 is wayyy different from 1 grand slam to 4.

but i think aryna still sees iga as this target in her head for what she's chasing, which is why you hear her talk about iga in such a way, like she's surprised when iga doesn't win and that she's always putting pressure on herself to make the match-up interesting/to make sure they get the chance to play or make sure the matches they play are good. conversely iga is very matter-of-fact about the rivalry and her respect for aryna, and i think talks about them more as equals. "thank you, aryna, for sharing the court with me...thanks for forcing me to be a better player" in madrid and "i think we're both players that deserve to be in semifinals and finals...she's a great tennis player, what can i say?" in cincinnati.

i dont even know how to wrap this up. i think i know too much. sorry. but my point is i get you. i think sincaraz was founded on this general respect and admiration, which then developed into a rivalry, whereas igaryna was so one-sided/unbalanced in terms of rivalries from the start that there had to be some proverbial bloodshed before they could start liking each other.

The Arcana Main 6 x Dara relationship dynamics

Asra: There is some romantic potential between the two, but it's not very much. They were childhood friends and are still very close. Because of that, people often mistake them for lovers. When I say they are close, I really mean it. Asra has no problem hopping into Dara's bed for some cuddles and he's one of the very few people who are allowed to touch them. They pretty much go everywhere together and even though they have separate beds in the shop, they often end up sharing. He's invited to every family gathering and special occasion. Dara can be a little oblivious when it comes to how others feel about them (coughs coughs Nadia coughs choughs), but Asra, being the cheeky person that he is, doesn't shy away from letting them know that a certain Countess might be in love with them. Asra was the first person Dara kissed, btw.

Nadia: Oh I could talk about these two all day. True love. That's it, true love. They met during the plague and quickly fell in love with each other. However, they didn't confess their love until after Nadia woke up from her coma. Dara is introverted but warm and patient, which is something that can be said about Nadia as well. Their relationship is as comfortable as it is passionate, filled with affection and care. They're both givers, which means they spoil each other 24/7 with gifts and all forms of affection. Neither of them trusts easily, but since they're both patient and kind, opening up was not a big issue (except that one incident but that's gonna be explained in Wounds of Magic, Scars of Love.) Nadia is Dara's favorite person in the entire world and they're giving her the special treatment. They seem like an open person, but there's still so much that they hide about themselves. Not from Nadia, tho. Nadia is the only person that Dara tells everything. They have some trauma, and so far, Nadia has been the only one they completely trusted with it. Whenever something happens, Dara's first thought is that they have to go and tell Nadia about it. No one is allowed to touch Dara without asking for first (except Asra and maybe a handful of other people), but Nadia is always an exception. Actually, Dara wishes she would touch them all the time. There is something about the Countess that makes Dara feel things that no one else ever has before. It's a relationship based on lots of love and mutual respect. When it's just them, everything feels so easy. They can be just Nadia and Dara with each other and I think that's beautiful. There's no pressure, no expectations. Just love. If there was a love story about a star and the moon, it would be about them. Hand in marriage when?

Julian: Dara can't really decide how they feel towards Julian. On the one hand, they'd party with him. On the other hand, they're giving him a bombastic side-eye. Julian is not bad and Dara is okay with hanging out with him once in a while, but they can't imagine getting any closer to him. However, sometimes they hang out at the Rowdy Raven and chat over some drinks and they worked together during the plague. When they share a common goal, they're willing to work together towards it.

Muriel: Sweet Muriel is a childhood friend of Dara. They drifted apart but later rekindled their friendship. Or more like, Muriel tolerates Dara more than he would with other people. Dara isn't someone who would force anyone, which is something that Muriel appreciates. However, Dara makes sure that Muriel never feels forgotten. Whenever Dara goes somewhere, they bring him back a little gift or occasionally show up at his hut to say hi, bring some goodies, and pet Inanna. Whenever there's an occasion, Dara invites Muriel and sadly, he often says no, but Dara lets him know that they could hang out later. Just the two of them. They both like chickens. Dara sometimes asks if they could hug Muriel.

Portia: Besties. They bake together and gossip together. When Dara and Portia sit down, they simply can't resist spilling all the latest tea. You know what TikTok trend about whoever brings up xy has to pay first? Yeah, it's them. I swear to gayness, they're like two grandmas. They pet and feed stray cats. Maybe occasionally bring them back to the Palace until Nadia says it's enough. Portia is someone that Dara trusts and considers a true friend. Lots of inside jokes and uncontrollable laughter. They also think that she's cute.

Lucio: Another character with romantic potential. At first, Dara just wanted to punch him. Now they want to punch him and then make out with him and it really confuses them. They're still salty about the way Lucio treated Nadia, but they also understand that Lucio is in some serious need of a therapist. With that being said, Dara is someone that Lucio can talk to about his past. As soon as they begin to understand why Lucio is the way he is, their judgement and hatred for him starts to disappear. When Lucio had the plague, Dara did their best to ease his suffering. If he ever needs a shoulder to cry on or just someone who listens, Dara is always available. They want to get drunk with him.

1: What is your favorite font to write in?

-> i am not sure what mine is bc i keep changing which i use but i really like Arial and Lexend

2: What are some things so neat you have in your story you've molded a huge amount of other things around, just to include it?

-> i've put entire whump arcs in the middle of the story just because

3: What event in your plotline would you say kicked the whole story moving? Was it caused by an accident, or it would have ended up happening sooner or later?

-> for snow white it was rose convincing her father to marry again. that would probably happen some time later, tho. for 9goh, which is not very fleshed out, it was the protagonist choosing to sacrifice themself for the sake of their hometown. i mean, the plot could probably happen without them anyways but i'm not sure how that started.

4: Are there any moodboards/aesthetics that you think represent your setting, characters or story?

-> i have some pinterest boards just for wips and characters lol. some were easier to find than others. for Ceres, for example, all I had to type in was 'dopamine decor'.

5: What is some media you like/liked that probably influenced the things you put in your work?

-> probably the infamous wizard series, pjo, magnus chase, atla, the seven deadly sins anime and a few others i can't really recall.

I have heavy stuff going on right now and I really want to tend to art/creative stuff to distract me at the end of the day so i dont go mad being too stuck in life to have a little fun

I would like to get involved with the MLP fandom a little more; I'm thinking about doing art trades to practice and also put together a bunch of art for potential commissions I don't have enough reach nor people experience to open commissions right now but I would love to have a little creative outlet that also engages with the community Anyone can participate but the amount of people who do will determine how quickly I can trade back PONY ART TRADE TIME!!! 1. Reblog this with art of any of my pony OCs (any skill or technique, 10 minutes or 2 hours i dont care!!) and with the character you would like to see me draw, if it's a sketch i'll likely trade with a sketch and if it's something with a background and details i will likely return the same i may go further and add more if an idea really speaks to me some days im just more detail oriented than others, some days an idea just really speaks loudly 2. do you carry a bag/purse? what kind? I like a lil backpack for work & commute, and a crossbody purse on the weekends that’ll fit my phone, keys and lip balm (the most important accessory). With a special pocket for emergency candy.

what color is your water bottle? I got one of those water bottles (and it's beautiful, like purple/blue/pink) that marks the hours of the day to encourage you to successfully hydrate - You Can Do It! Almost There! It’s been sitting untouched on my floor for a while now :(

what color is your phone case? Turquoise green, and has lots of pockets (like my purse, no candy tho)

do you sleep in silence or do you need white noise/sounds/music? Definitely complete silence 

top sheets: yes or no? Why yes!

you’re in the candy aisle at the corner store, what are you grabbing? Oh good, candy ideas for my purse. I love those gummy candies that are shaped like hot dogs or sushi, do you know what I’m talking about? Basically any gummy things. If you ask me what candy I’m stealing from childrens’ trick or treat bags, it’s Twix.

preferred mode of travel (plane/train/car/bus/on foot/etc?): i love driving but also taking the bus (which in my town, is really fun for people watching and sightseeing), plus i love to grab a seat in the back and zone out with a book.

are you more of a minimalist or a maximalist? Minimalist for sure - for whatever reason, i can think better surrounded by clear surfaces
