Henry has a great many talents; he’s not the sort of person to downplay his skills. Gift wrapping, however, is certainly not one of them. If it’s in a box he’s usually fine, or at least not actively making a mess of anything, but anything more complicated than that tends to turn into a disaster at his hands no matter how many TikTok tutorials he watches on the subject. And as the sign above the station proclaims, the proceeds all go to charity—so really, isn’t Henry doing a public service by having someone with big brown eyes and criminally long eyelashes wrap his gifts on his behalf? It’s a selfless act in the grand scheme of things, surely.

Or, pre-Christmas shopping is hell, but some retail workers make it more than bearable.

Five days a week, Alex sits across from Henry for 58 minutes in the morning, rattling on about the virtues of the Tube and how efficient it is compared to the NYC subway, or his irrational dislike of Pret coffee, or a new bookstore he thinks Henry would like. Five days a week, Alex and Henry leave the shelter together to take the bus home. They almost always end up standing for part of the way, occasionally bumping up against each other. Sometimes, Alex doesn't move away. It's nice. Five days a week, Henry falls a little bit more in love.

Or, Alex and Henry fall in love—five days a week, four bus routes, three pseudo-dates, two holiday markets, and one red scarf of fate later.

This fic is such a fun, fun, fun, fun adventure. The Proposal is one of my favourite romcoms, so when I learned roop was doing an AU, I was ecstatic. I knew I wanted to do this fic justice and make a book cover and can also be hung up like a movie poster (like all the others I’ve posted/will post).

I was debating on doing a full on recreating of the poster, but I did not feel like it would get the vibe. The way the type on the poster also felt like it was taking weight away from Alex and Henry, so I toyed around with the arrangement and the typography until I found an arrangement I was really happy with.

I hope you love the cover/poster, roop! I always put my heart in these little pieces of art and I hope it shows how much fun I had reading yours and how much I wanted to honour it. ❤️🤍💙

I deserve this thank you :D” But then Alex would just be like “you carry them in your purse?” at Henry who scrunches his nose in disbelief and says “Yes of course, where else would I carry them?” and they would move on but 12 minutes later Alex would be like “okay you’re right where else would you carry them” and Henry would fall in love on the spot.

If I did, I’d be ten million pounds richer, for a start.” Twice a year like clockwork, ex-Queen Mary, now the Duchess of Washington and holed up in one of her cousin’s royal properties in London along with her daughter and two remaining grandchildren, pops up on social media to remind the American population of the reward on offer for her younger grandson’s safe return. There have been literally dozens of fake Henrys over the years, all hoping to get their hands on the cash, all soon finding themselves on the wrong side of treason charges. He looks at Nora’s computer screen again, fingers drumming anxiously on the desk as he tips his chair back on its rear legs. “I’m telling you, though, I know that guy.”

“Whoa, wha—”  Alex goes a little cross-eyed as he watches her brush his curls back from his forehead. It reminds him of when he was a toddler, and June insisted on tucking him in at night.  “Why are you looking at me like that?”  Her fingers absently comb through his hair. “I need you to wake up, you little shit,” she says. Her voice is soft and fond and something else that Alex can’t put his finger on. It could pass as the answer to his question, but Alex isn't convinced June heard him at all.  “Yeah,” he drawls, prying her hands off his face and taking a very deliberate step backward. “You’re freaking me out here, Bug.” June's demeanor changes. Out of nowhere, her eyes go stern as stone—and there's none of that eerie softness in her voice when she speaks again. Instead, loud enough to make Alex's ears ring, she commands: “Wake up.”

OR: Alex never makes it to Kensington because fate has other plans. Nothing like a coma to put things in perspective, huh?
