So the official in question resigned before those comments, and Biden's team had the exact same thing to say in the second article. (You can use 12ft.io to see past the paywall btw.) The explicit belief of Biden's team is that he would have won because he would have been more explicitly dismissive of trans people. Meanwhile if the reporting of the second article is correct, the reason Harris turned away from economic populism during her campaign is because her brother-in-law, the chief legal officer of uber with a 60 million dollar net worth, told her that economic populism would drive away all the CEOs who support she would need for the campaign.
The Democratic party got the most powerful surge of support it had seen in years, after a historically unpopular presidency, by embracing just a hint of economically populist messaging. The nomination of Tim Walz was wildly popular because of it. And it looks like they buried it because somebody's multimillionaire C-level family member from one of the most rapacious and loathed companies the United States told them not to. And now the Democratic operatives central to the recent campaign and the last 4 years of governance are deciding that really, not throwing trans people under the bus hard enough is what lost them the election. And I can't emphasize this enough, despite the one guy's resignation, the fact they lost the election isn't resulting in any change of guard among these internal party officials.
I don't think the Democratic party establishment is capable of understanding why it lost, and doing anything other than pivoting to the right again about it. If we even manage to keep our country having fair elections, none of the people in charge of this election cycle on the Democrat side can stay in power if we're to have a hope of winning. And if the Republicans, with full control of every single level of federal government, manage to sabotage the fair election process, the Democrats absolutely cannot de facto become in charge of however we might resist that.
All the takes are correct and yet they also miss the point. Yes, it was insane for the Democrats to think they could win by running a soulless candidate, without a shred of progressive policy vision, pursuing endorsements from neocon war-hawks everybody hates, while arming and funding a genocide, and belittling and crushing those who have enough morality to protest it. It is enraging that the Democrats are so smug and blind to this. But these are all just symptoms. The deeper reality is that liberalism has failed, liberalism is dead, and people urgently need to wake up to this fact and respond accordingly. It is a defunct ideology that cannot offer any meaningful solutions to our social and ecological crises and it must be abandoned. Democrats have proven over and over again that they cannot accept even basic steps like public healthcare, affordable housing, and a public job guarantee - things that would dramatically improve the material, social and political conditions of the working classes. And they cannot accept a public finance strategy that would steer production away from fossil fuels and toward green transition to give us a shot at a liveable future. Why? Because these things run against the objectives of capital accumulation. And for liberals capital is sacrosanct. They will do whatever it takes to ensure elite accumulation, it is their only consistent commitment. At home, they suppress and demonize progressive and socialist tendencies. Abroad, they engage in endless wars and violence to suppress input prices in the global South and prevent any possibility of sovereign economic development. The Democrats have done all this purposefully and knowingly, for my whole life, not as some kind of "mistake" but in full consciousness that it is in the interests of capital. And because liberalism cannot address our crises, and because it crushes socialist alternatives, it inevitably paves the way for right-wing populism. They know this pattern, and yet they risk it every time - this election being only the most recent example. They did it in 2016, when they actively crushed the Sanders campaign and sent Trump to the White House. They do it because ultimately they (and I mean the liberal ruling class here) don't really mind if fascists take power, so long as the latter too ensure the conditions for capital accumulation. They 100% prefer this to the possibility of a socialist alternative. So, progressives have to face reality. The dream of "converting" the Democratic party is dead. This is now a fact and it must be accepted. The only option is to build a mass-based movement that can reclaim the working classes and mobilize a political vehicle that can integrate disparate progressive struggles into a unified and formidable political force and achieve substantive transformation. This will take real work, actual organizing, but it must be done and that process must begin now.

Meeting the Mayor
Sleepy King Master Post
Mayor Masters had left their little group waiting for far too long. It was clearly a power move, something Batman expected of someone like Lex Luthor, not the mayor of a small town that had been all but swallowed up by the nearby larger city. It was so predictable that he even started a mental countdown on when they would be allowed to meet Masters. He was, of course, right.
On entering the mayorâs office, Masters was sitting behind his desk, an oily smile spread across his face. He didnât even stand to greet them. âGood afternoon, itâs not every dayâŠâ Masters trailed off as his face scrunched up. âStrawberry shortcake! Did some youths play a prank on you?â
Batman glanced briefly towards his fellow League members, they looked just as confused as he was. Diana squared her shoulders, âWhat do you mean?â
âYou donâtâŠâ Masters frowned as he looked them over, âNevermind, my mistake. What did you want to discuss?â The man smiled brightly as he leaned over and pressed a button on a small desk fan, the blades whirred to life.
Diana smiled just as brightly and just as fakely as she sat down in front of his desk. âWeâre here to make sure youâre aware of the resources the Justice League has made available to any municipal body.â
Constantine took his cue and lounged in the chair next to Diana while Batman chose to loom over her shoulder.
âResources?â Masters asked with a raised brow.
âYes, we understand that attacks on a âsuper villainâ level can leave a lot of collateral damage that smaller cities may struggle to repair, especially those that havenât had to deal with such things before. The Justice League provides aid to anyone who applies.â
âAh, how generous!â Masters gave a smile that made Batmanâs skin crawl. âBut Iâm sure even you have limited funds, would not they be better left to those truly in need? As youâve seen, our little town is doing just fine without your help.â
âAnd how is that?â Batman asked. âThereâve been reports of numerous attacks over the last two years, where is Amity Park getting the resources to repair the damage?â
âBelieve it or not, ghosts are incorporeal and thus donât cause as much collateral damage. Also, the appearance of ghosts has caused a spike in tourists, which has been quite the boost to our economy. And lastly, as the mayor is it not my civic duty to support my town, which I love so dearly? Of course Iâve been supplementing Amityâs budget, and Iâve been making sure to hire only local businesses to keep Amity Parkâs money inside Amity Park.â
Batman narrowed his eyes. He chose not to mention that Vlad had only moved to Amity Park shortly before running for mayor, or that he had bought and combined a few local construction companies and has been using them exclusively. Certainly everything about the man was suspicious, but that wasnât what they were here to talk about. Instead he pulled several pamphlets from his utility belt. âWhile youâve been lucky so far, it would be in your best interests to be fully aware of the resources available to you and your fine town in case something larger scale happens.â Not that it hadnât already, he couldnât imagine anything larger scale than the entire town and neighboring city getting pulled into another dimension by an undead tyrant king.
While Batman and Diana painstakingly went over the pamphlets with Masters, whoâs smile wilted more and more the longer they took, Constantine kept muttering under his breath and making motions with his hands where Masters couldnât see them, staring intensely at the mayor the whole time. Batman was curious what he was seeing.
The wall suddenly burst, small bits of plaster and wood showering over Masters and the cape Batman had used to shield himself and his fellow League members.
âVladdie!â A familiar voice called boisterously, âYou wonât believe what happened! Oh, I didnât know you had guests.â
Masters was brushing debris from his person as he spoke with clear disdain, âYes, well, if you would use the door as. Iâve. Asked! Numerous time. This whole situation could be avoided.â
âHello again,â Dr. Jack Fenton said cheerfully with a little wave. âWhat are you doing visiting Vladdie?â
âWe were just ensuring Mayor Masters was aware of all the JL resources available to him,â Batman said as he let his cap fall back around his body.
âOh, that reminds me,â Diana said brightly. âWe also have support available for minors doing hero work, you wouldnât happen to be able to get in contact with Phantom, would you?â
Dr. Madeline Fenton, along with both their children, approached as Diana asked her question. Mastersâs eyes trailed over to the group before focusing back on the League members. âNo, Iâm afraid not. Heâs a ghost, you know. Likely he spends most of his time in the Ghost Zone, only comes here to play around with his ghost friends and cause collateral damage.â
âHey!â Danny said indignantly. âPhantom is a hero whoâs working really hard to keep the town safe!â
âYes yes,â Masters said while waving his hand at the family. âI know you and all your little friends think Phantom hung the moon and stars. Wait, shouldnât you two be at school?â
âThere was an incident,â Jack said proudly.
Masters sighed, âIt wouldnât happen to have anything to do with these fine people, would it?â He waved at the League members as he spoke.
âGood guess, Vladdie!â
âI thought so.â Masters swept the pamphlets into his desk drawer. âWell thank you very much for your concern, I shall make sure to keep these in case we ever do need assistance. Now if youâll excuse me, I need to contact someone about repairing my wall. Have a lovely day.â Masters stood and simply walked through the busted wall with the Fenton family.
Batman watched them leave through narrowed eyes.
âNot the oddest town Iâve been in,â Diana remarked thoughtfully.
Batman simply turned to look in Constantineâs direction.
âThe mayor is also dead as a doornail, but fully alive.â
âHe also clearly smelled your demon blood,â Batman added.
Constantine nodded. âI'm getting all kinds of odd readings off the mayor, no I'm not explaining it. Just know he's weird, but still not as weird as the kid, though he's close."
"Should we not follow them?" Diana asked.
"I put trackers and bugs on all of them," Batman replied.
"'Course you did, mate."

A Piece Of Paper
Summary: You and Melissa have been dating for a while. Marriage isn't necessarily the plan. Who needs a silly piece of paper to solidify the relationship anyway?
WC: ~4.2k
After dating Melissa Schemmenti, second grade teacher at Willard R. Abbott Elementary School, for about a year, the two of you decide to finally jump the gun and move in together. It took a bit of convincing on your end, but eventually, she welcomed the company and companionship that you brought with you. Living together didnât mean you were married after all.Â
Youâve been living together for two years now, dating for three. Itâs a nice situation to be in. Neither of you are particularly ready to get married, each of you for your respective reasons. The topic had come up when you moved in, and you came to an agreement that you were more than satisfied just being partners⊠life partners. The weekday routine of waking up together, occasionally showering together before getting on with your days, breakfast, heading to work, coming home to your person, and then relaxing before heading to bed and starting the cycle all over again is warm enough. But your weekends are always slow, steady, full of comfort and contentedness to do everything or nothing at all. This relationship that you have with Melissa is all youâll ever need in life- married or not.
Itâs a day where you have off and your girlfriend conveniently has a professional development day that, while you are still more than content with your lifestyle how it is, Melissaâs thoughts and views begin to change.Â
Because Ava doesnât have anything against you (you would even venture to say the principal of your girlfriendâs school likes you), youâre able to enter the school during lunch hours and share a meal with your girlfriend and her coworkers. They all adore you, but it does confuse them how someone like you could be dating someone like the redheaded woman. Youâre calm and level-headed, and theyâve seen Melissa in her fits of rage. Regardless, they support your relationship wholeheartedly and eagerly.
âSo,â Jacob hums loudly as he practically stares down his two coworkers that heâs closest to. âDoes anybody have any big news to share with the group?â
You just roll your eyes in good nature at the secondary education teacher. Heâs always so nosey, but he means well. You steal another bite of your girlfriendâs lunch, despite the fact that you have the exact same dish in front of you.
Janine and Gregory each share a look, before the shorter woman breaks out into a grin. âWe actually do have some news⊠Thank you, Jacob.â
Jacob looks quite proud of himself, and itâs immediately clear to the rest of the room that this was an orchestrated act.
âSo, Janine and I were talking last night, andâŠâ Gregory nudges his girlfriend.
Janine holds up her left hand, and thereâs a sparkling ring sitting on her ring finger. âWeâre engaged! Weâre getting married!â
Immediately, the group of teachers erupts into cheers, shouting their congratulations. Itâs all a bit hectic for a few minutes as everyone tries to get a glimpse at the rock before it dies down.
âDamn, Eddie,â Ava looks him up and down once sheâs seen the ring. âIf I had known this is what I couldâve gotten, I woulda flirted with you way harder than I did.â
âAnd I would have happily reported you to HR,â Gregory replies with a satisfied smirk. âBut thank you. I did what I could.â
âAs you already know,â the second grade teacher smiles and claps her hands together. âAbbott is family to us, so of course youâre all invited to the wedding. We havenât set a date yet, but weâre thinking sometime next year?â
âWeâll all be there, sweetheart,â Barbara puts in warmly. âWeâre all very happy for the both of you. What a wonderful step the two of you are taking.â
You donât think youâve ever seen Janine so excited, and that woman is always practically bouncing off of the walls with energy.
But then the naive and in love woman looks to you and Melissa. âWhen do you think the two of you will be getting married?â
âThis is your day,â you tell her gently. âLetâs keep the attention on you.â
âBut Iâm curious!â Janine argues. âI mean⊠I would love to have a double Abbott wedd-â
âYeah, no, kid,â Melissa cuts in. âI love ya, donât get me wrong, but I would rather die than have a double weddinâ.â
âBesides,â you say as you lay a gentle hand on your girlfriendâs knee. âWe donât really see a need to get married. We live together, weâre happy together, and we donât necessarily see the need to have a piece of paper solidify our relationship. But we are truly so happy that the two of you have decided to tie the knot.â
The rest of lunch is buzzing with questions about the engagement and talks of what Janine has already mentally planned for what she and Jacob are describing as âthe wedding of the centuryâ. Gregory just looks at his fiancee with a love in his eyes that you recognize as the way that Melissa looks at you. Every once in a while, he will interject his opinion though because some of Janineâs plans are a bit over the top.
âHun, we canât afford that,â the man says quite a few times. âNot on our teacher salaries.â
His objections donât deter her in the slightest. She just smiles at him and nods along, claiming sheâll find a lower budget option with the same amount of pizazz. You listen, quietly amused, while your girlfriend takes in the conversation around her. For once, she doesnât offer up any sarcastic quips. You chalk it up to her not wanting to ruin the moment for Janine and Gregory, but what you donât know is that Melissa is deep in thought about engagements and weddings, marriage. The way that you so casually explained that you probably would never be married struck a chord in the redhead. She almost sees it as a challenge now to get married.
After about fifteen more minutes of chatter, the teachers have to find their ways back to their classrooms for the rest of the day to prepare and go through the rest of their data while you have to find your way out of the school.
âIâll see you at home?â you ask sweetly.
When your girlfriend doesn't quite respond, you set a gentle hand on her shoulder. âHoney? Iâll see you at home?â
Only then does Melissa seem to understand that youâre speaking directly to her. âY-yeah. Iâll see you at home, mi amore.â
She kisses you warmly, and then you grab your purse and exit, calling goodbye to your girlfriendâs coworkers as you make your way out.
Youâre lounging on the couch with your book in hand when Melissa comes into the house from work. She kicks off her shoes, and sheâs practically straddling your lap before she even drops her bag on the floor next to you.
You kiss her back passionately before pulling away with a giggle and a rosy tint to your cheeks. âOh!â you giggle out as she continues to chase your lips. âMy love, not that Iâm not enjoying this, but what did I do to deserve this greeting?â
She doesnât answer, instead just kissing you with desire and hunger- sheâs being greedy. You canât do anything but give in to what she wants, but air quickly becomes a necessity.
Her eyes are blown wide with lust for you, but you know you have to get her to talk to you before you can do anything else. âBaby? Whatâs going on?â
âIâm just so damn in love with you,â she mumbles as she starts to graze your neck with her lips and teeth.Â
Thatâs all you need to hear before you allow her to lower you to a laying position on the couch, throw your book haphazardly, and have her way with you.
Itâs a bit later that your legs are still shaking just slightly, but youâre clean and your clothes are back on. Your girlfriend just nuzzles into your hold, humming as she cards her fingers through your hair gently.
âMy girl,â she whispers as she dots a few sweet kisses to your head. âMine.â
âThat I am,â you chuckle softly, still in somewhat of a haze after the mind-blowing couch sex. âWhatâs got you acting like this?â
âJust a day,â Melissa tells you as she kisses you again on the lips. Then she sighs. âCan we just call for delivery? Iâm exhausted, anâ I donât feel like cooking.â
You donât quite know if sheâs exhausted from the professional development day, or if sheâs exhausted from the effort she just put in to satisfy you, but you hum and nod your agreement.
âChinese?â
âChinese,â you agree.
As youâre waiting for the food to come, your girlfriend decides that she needs to shower. You lounge in the living room, feet tucked beneath your figure, when your phone begins to ring. Itâs your mother. Of course itâs your mother. With a heavy sigh, you reach for the ringing device on the coffee table.Â
âHey, Ma,â you answer.
You can hear how delighted she is that picked up. âHey, sweet girl. Just calling in to check up on you. Itâs been a while since Iâve heard from you.â
âI called you yesterday,â you deadpan.
You can practically see your mother shrug into the phone. âAnd a lot couldâve happened in a day!â
You canât help the laugh that comes tumbling out of your mouth before you begin to fill her in on your day. You tell her how you were off from work so you were able to sleep in, and then you went to Abbott for lunch with your girlfriend.
âOh, and how is Mel?â your mother asks.
âSheâs good,â you promise. âTired after today, so sheâs in the shower, but Iâm sure sheâd tell you hello if she were here.â
âGood. The two of you need to come up for dinner sometime soon. Your dad and I arenât getting any younger, you know.â
âIâll talk to her,â you promise. âOh! You know what did happen at the school today?â
âWhat?â Itâs clear that your mother is intrigued. Sheâs been to Abbott as a guest reader in your girlfriendâs class, and has therefore been privy to the redheadâs coworkers.Â
Melissa exits the bedroom, wet hair still clinging to her pajamas when she hears you talking to who she can only assume is your mother on the phone. Usually, she would walk right into the room, calling out a greeting as she takes her place beside you. But something in her stops herself, and she listens to your words just out of eyeliner.
âYou remember Lis talkinâ about her coworkers, Janine and Gregory?â At your motherâs hum, you continue. âThey got engaged. Wedding next year.â
âOh how wonderful for them. Let them know I said congratulations,â your mother smiles into the phone. âHey, when can I expect the two of you to finally pull your heads out of your asses and get hitched already? I want grandkids, you know.â
âMa,â you sigh and roll your eyes. âYou know Lis and I arenât really planning on getting married.â
âAnd why would that be?â your mother pries, despite the fact that sheâs well aware of the reasoning.Â
âBecause,â you chuckle. âIâm in no rush, if at all. And Lis has done marriage and divorce before. She donât want to get married again, and thatâs more than okay with me. Besides, we live together. Sheâs practically my wife as is. Who says we need a silly little paper to tell us that weâre together forever?â
âAll Iâm sayinâ is, I want grandkids. And you could use the insurance from the school- yours is shit. You can only claim it if youâre married. And, God forbid anything happen to either of youâŠâ
âMa, we already have all of that sorted out,â you try to reason with your mom. âWeâre in a place where weâre content. I wish you could be happy with how weâve chosen to live our lives.â
âI am!â your mother protests. âYou know I adore Melissa, but I want grandkids!â
âI can give you grandkids without being married, Ma. But donât hold your breath. Iâm in no rush to have kids, if I have any at all. And Lis is practically a mother to twenty five children as it is with her job.â
Something in your mother finally gets her to relent. âI suppose Iâll just have to move onto your sister.â
âYeah,â you snort out. âYou do that, Ma. Just donât tell her I sent you her way.â
âOh, you know Iâll be sure to tell you you sent me to her,â your mom teases you.
You roll your eyes. âHow are you and Dad?â
Melissa sees this as a good opportunity to enter the room, with your mother telling you about her day and what she and your father got up to today.
âMa?â she whispers. You nod, and during a brief pause, the redhead calls her greeting into the phone.
âMel!â your mother grins into the phone. âHow are you dear?â
âJust fine, Nel. Tell Rick I said hey too when you get a chance.â
âI will dear,â your mom promises. And then sheâs off and telling you more about her day. She chatters on for a few minutes before the doorbell rings. Itâs your food.
âMa?â you interrupt her gently as she tells you about the chronicles of her canasta game. âI hate to go, but our food just got here, and Iâm starving. Iâll call you soon, yeah?â
Melissa stands to answer the door as your mother reluctantly lets you go, but only after quite a few promises of calling her again soon- coming up for a visit.
The redhead is already sorting out your food from the bag when youâre finally able to end the phone call, and she looks to you with a smirk. âJust a catch up call?â
âJust a catch up call,â you groan. âWoman acts like she hasnât talked to me in years when I called her yesterday. She says to tell Janine and Gregory congratulations by the way.â
Melissa nods and hands you your pair of chopsticks and food before grabbing her own. You gently drape your legs over her lap with a smile, and green eyes are rolled fondly.
âSo, anything else happen once I left Abbott today?â you ask.
Your girlfriend huffs. âYeah. Loads of bullshit, thatâs what happened today.â
She launches into some story about Ava and the data analysis, how the way that they retained their reports was deplorable- a school to prison pipeline really. You canât help but chuckle at the way she explains the details, loudly and with lots of emotion. Your eyes go soft as you remember just how in love you are with the woman in front of you. The way that she cares about her students and her employment so much is⊠she goes above and beyond, really.
âOi,â Melissa nudges you. âIâm over here talking about the school to prison pipeline, anâ youâre giving me lovesick puppy dog eyes. What the hell?â
You lean up and kiss her sesame chicken stuffed cheek gently. âI just love how passionate you are about your job and your kids. Itâs really admirable. I wish I cared about my job that much.â
âYou know what else Iâm passionate about?â your girlfriend chuckles quietly and winks at you. Then she wiggles her eyebrows.
âJesus, Lis. Always thinking about sex,â you roll your eyes, but a smirk is evident on your face.
âYouâre sitting here in booty shorts and a sports bra with your legs draped over me, and Iâm not supposed to be thinking about sex?â Melissa challenges.
âWe had sex before the food got here. Eat your dinner,â you roll your eyes once again as you pick up another piece of broccoli with your chopsticks.Â
The two of you finish you meals in relative silence as the television plays softly in the background, your girlfriend in her head and thoughts about what had been revealed earlier that day in the staff room, and then what she had overheard while you were on the phone with your mother.Â
Itâs not much later that the two of you are heading to bed, and Melissa just canât keep her hands off of you- and not in that way. You know that you were joking about sex earlier, but youâre both so exhausted you donât even know if you could manage right now without falling asleep. Her arms are just wrapped around your frame as you brush your teeth, as you comb your hair and take off your makeup. Her chin rests gently against your shoulder blade, and you feel a soft kiss being pressed to it. She doesnât detangle herself from you even as you make your way into the bedroom. The only time that she lets you go is when you crawl into bed. Still, almost immediately once youâve settled under the covers does she attach herself to your side again. Her head rests gently on your chest, red hair splayed out underneath of her.
âI love you,â Melissa whispers softly.
You press a warm kiss to her temple, muttering out a soft, âLove you too, Lis,â before you allow your eyes to flutter shut and sleep to take you away.
While youâre sound asleep, your girlfriend stays up for some time thinking about everything that had taken place today. Is⊠should the two of you get married? Your mother made a few good points. She knows you want kids at some point, and being on her insurance would probably beat the shitty insurance that the district offers her. And God forbid something happen to her, she would want you to be taken care of- you would get the house, her belongings⊠everything. But what you had said was true- the two of you were practically married as is. Youâve been together for three years, you live together, youâve been through good times and bad. You donât need a paper to prove to the world that you love each other.
But⊠she finds that she wants that stupid piece of paper. Melissa realizes that calling you her partner, her girlfriend, the love of her life that she isnât married to just isnât enough. She wants to have the privilege of introducing you to new people as her wife, as Mrs. Schemmenti. And she canât do that if the two of you arenât married. Silently, she decides that she might just have to fix this situation sheâs found herself in.
The two of you wake up in a warm and sleepy haze. Melissaâs arms are wound tightly around your waist, her face practically in your chest from when you had turned in your sleep. Your legs are tangled with hers, and youâve never woken up so warm and light.
âGood morning,â you whisper as you kiss her nose softly.
She just smiles. âWaking up next to you everyday, itâs always the best part of my day.â
âStop trying to charm me,â you chuckle. âYou already got the girl, and thereâs no way that my bedhead and morning breath is the highlight of your day.â
Green eyes are soft and full of love as she looks into your own. âI promise you, my love.â
You lean in to kiss her.
Sheâs clingy the rest of the day, like how she was last night. And while itâs not unwelcome, it isnât quite like your girlfriend. Yes, she likes to touch you- sheâs usually not all that far from you while you lounge around the house on a lazy Saturday, but today you canât seem to escape her hold. And if you do, itâs because Melissa is up and getting you a cup of coffee, grabbing the television remote from the other side of the couch, or sheâs draping a blanket over you when you shiver. But as soon as the task at hand is complete, sheâs right back to you- arm draped over you, kissing your head, tracing patterns on your thigh as you read, just simply enjoying your presence.Â
You let her do this in silence- you donât mind it. But it does confuse you. For the morning, you simply chalk it up to still being exhausted from the previous day, but even a time where she should be refreshed and back to her normal self, she isnât.
Finally, around two in the afternoon, you canât quite keep it inside of you anymore. You have to know why sheâs acting like this, and without an apparent reason.
âLis?â you crane your neck to look at her. Sheâs currently sitting behind you and massaging your shoulders as you watch television.
She answers by dotting a few kisses to the slope of your neck.
âLis,â you repeat again, and you have to fight the moan that wants to come out of your mouth. Her hands and lips are almost irresistible. âHoney.â
âI love you,â she whispers against your skin.
âI love you too,â you smile softly and turn in her arms. âBut babe, I gotta ask: why are you so lovey today?â
âAm I not allowed to spoil my girlfriend?â Melissa asks you.
You chuckle and kiss her softly. âYou definitely are, but⊠Iâm not forgetting an important day for us or anything, am I?â
âYou think I need a special day to show you how much I love you?â she retorts.
You shake your head. âWell, no, but-â
âI love you,â your girlfriend tells you. âThatâs all.â
You chuckle and kiss her again. Although you donât believe her, something had to have happened to have her acting like this on a random Saturday, you relent. âOkay, honey.â
You let her continue to be clingy- itâs not like you mind it. Melissa is always so hellbent on showing her tough side, and you absolutely melt at being privileged enough to see the walls come down and her heart show. She continues to shower you in words of affirmation, and the look in her eyes is a look of love, but itâs different from the usual love you see.
The two of you are cooking dinner in your loungewear when she takes hold of your left hand. She brings it up to her lips and kisses your ring finger specifically.
âLis?â
She just hums in response before pulling you in close and continuing to tend to the pot that sheâs stirring.
âHoney?â That was odd.
Melissa looks to you. âWhat?â
âWhat was that?â you ask with a raised brow.
She smirks at you before casually replying, âI think your left hand might look better with a couple rings on it, donât you think?â
âWhat?â Your jaw drops at her words, spoken as if she was telling you about the most mundane things in life, not marriage.
Melissa kisses the side of your head. âIâve been thinkinâ.â
âClearly,â you chuckle softly.
âCan I admit somethinâ to you? Without you gettinâ mad?â
Your brows furrow. âWhat did you do?â
Your girlfriendâs hands immediately go up in surrender. âNothinâ bad, babe. I just⊠with Janine and Gregory getting married, your words about not needing a silly little paper did something to me. And then⊠yesterday when you were on the phone with your ma, I may have heard you tell her I was practically your wife anyway.â
âYou are,â you confirm. âBut I know you donât want the legalities of it all, and Iâm okay with that- I told you that when I moved in.â
âWhat if- what if I donât want just âpracticallyâ no more?â she asks hesitantly. âWhat if I want it officially, and to be able to introduce you as Mrs. Schemmenti, my wife?â
Your eyes widen slightly. âI meanâŠâ
âIâll put it to you this way,â Melissa sighs softly. She pauses to stir the contents of your meal again. âWhen⊠when I married Joe, I knew it wasnât the fairytale I imagined as a kid. So when it didnât work out, yeah- it sucked. The circumstances made it suck a lot more. But⊠I donât feel that way with you. I feel like everyday is a dream when I wake up beside you. Youâre the⊠the miracle Iâve been waitinâ on.â
Tears begin to spring to your eyes at her vulnerable and meaningful words. âR-really?â
âReally,â she whispers as she kisses your head again. âAnâ Iâm not sayinâ we need to rush anything, but I⊠I think we should think about next steps. Ring shopping, an engagement, maybe a small, low-key wedding?â
You nod against her. âI- I think youâre on to something.â
When Monday rolls around and Melissa, now your fiancee, walks into the staff room of Abbott Elementary with a sparkling ring on her finger⊠well, she can only smirk.
âI guess I want that stupid piece of paper after all.â And then when she sees Janineâs face, she quickly adds, âAnd no- we will not be having a double wedding."

Can't believe this
February 10, 2027 â Present Time
Youâd decided it was finally time for Yoongi to meet your mother. His calm demeanor and unwavering support had been your anchor during some of the toughest times.
Your fingers were laced with his, the warmth of his hand grounding you. The two of you looked effortlessly coordinated in matching blazersâhis in classic black, yours in a crisp white.
As you reached the door, you took a deep breath and pushed it open.
And then you saw him.
Jungkook.
He was seated next to your mother, deep in conversation, his voice low and composed. His hair, once a warm chestnut brown, was now jet black, styled into a sleek, elegant mullet. It framed his face perfectly, the strands slicked back with precision. His right arm rested casually on the table, the sleeve of his shirt rolled up just enough to reveal the intricate tattoos that snaked up his skin.
This wasnât the Jungkook you once knew. He carried himself differently nowâpoised, polished, and every bit the powerful CEO.
Your heart clenched, a mixture of shock and betrayal surging through you.
âMom?â you said, your voice cutting through the quiet hum of the room.
Both your mother and Jungkook turned to face you, but it was your mom who spoke first. âOh, Y/N, dear. I was just about to tell you about our new brand dealââ
âNo,â you cut her off sharply, your tone icy. âI donât want to, Mom.â
Your mother frowned, a flicker of disappointment crossing her face. âY/Nââ
Before she could continue, Jungkook stood, his dark eyes locking onto yours. âY/N, listenââ
âItâs Ms. Kim Y/N to you, Mr. Jeon,â you snapped, your voice sharp and unyielding.
Yoongi shifted beside you, clearly sensing the tension. âUh, maybe I should step outââ
âNo, no, Yoongi,â you said quickly, your tone softening as you glanced at him. âItâs fine. Weâll be out of here soon.â
Jungkookâs jaw tightened, but he said nothing. His gaze flickered briefly to Yoongi, his expression unreadable.
Your mom sighed, attempting to mediate. âY/N, this partnership could be beneficial for both companies. Jungkookâs teamââ
âI donât care,â you interrupted, your voice firm. âWe donât need this deal, not if it involves him.â
The weight of your words hung heavy in the air.
Jungkookâs face remained stoic, but there was a flicker of something in his eyesâregret, perhaps, or frustration. âUnderstood,â he said finally, his tone even.
Without another word, you turned and walked out of the room, Yoongi following close behind.
Once you were out in the hallway, Yoongi gently squeezed your hand. âYou okay?â he asked, his voice low and soothing.
You nodded, though your heart still raced. âYeah,â you said quietly, looking up at him. âI am now.â
I gathered my bag and slid out of the car with his help, the cool morning air brushing against my face. Adjusting my blazer, I turned to him and said, âIâll be out late, so donât wait for me or pick me up. Got it?â
âYes, maâam,â he replied with a respectful nod. His stoic expression didnât waver, but I knew heâd make sure everything was handled as usual.
Just as I was about to step inside the building, my phone buzzed in my hand. It was Yoongi. I couldnât help but smile as I answered.Â
âHeyyy, wanna go out tonight?â he asked, his tone playful.
I hesitated for a moment, remembering the plans Iâd already made. âWell... I kinda have plans with Namjoon and Sana tonight at the club,â I admitted. âBut you can come. Can you?â
âYeah, sure,â he said without missing a beat. âPick you up or just stay at your place?â
âMy place,â I replied, knowing it would be easier that way.
âAlrighty. See you, pretty,â he said smoothly, and I could hear the smile in his voice.
âSee you,â I said, hanging up.
I slipped my phone back into my bag and walked into the towering office building. The lobby was sleek and modern, filled with employees and visitors. I walked confidently across the polished floors, my heels clicking rhythmically as I made my way to the private elevator reserved for executives.
Once I reached my floor, the familiar scent of fresh coffee and crisp paper greeted me. My assistant, Sejun, was already waiting by my office door, his usual clipboard in hand. He was a sharp dresser, his navy suit perfectly tailored, and his hair neatly combed back.
âGood morning, Ms. Kim,â he greeted me with a polite bow. âSomeone sent you a letter. Itâs on your desk.â
I raised an eyebrow. âA letter?â It wasnât often that I received personal mail at the office, especially in this day and age.
âYes, it was hand-delivered this morning,â Sejun explained as he opened the door for me. âIt seemed urgent.â
I hummed in acknowledgment, stepping inside my spacious office.
I sank back into my chair. After all the training, coaching, and pressure to step up as CEO, Iâd finally started to find a rhythm that felt⊠right. There was satisfaction in this work, a sense of control I hadn't experienced before. For months, I'd felt buried under the weight of everyoneâs expectations. But now, as I glanced around my office, I felt the slightest glimmer of pride.
With a small smile, I gave in to a rare moment of relaxation, spinning slowly in my chair. Just as I was beginning to feel settled, something caught my eye. A sleek, brown, small envelope lay on my desk, standing out starkly against the polished white surface. I frowned. The name on it was written in bold, elegant script:
To: Kim Y/N, CEO of RNT Inc. From: Jeon Jungkook, CEO of GCF Productions.
My heart dropped as I read his name. Jungkook. After everything, after years of hurting me, he was reaching out now? My fingers hovered over the envelope, hesitant, but curiosity won. I picked it up, feeling the weight of the paper in my hand, the texture rich and smooth under my fingertips. Slowly, I slid my nail under the seal and pulled out a letter, already bracing myself for the frustration I knew would come.
The very first line felt like a slap to the face.
Dear Y/N, the love of my life.
A harsh, bitter laugh escaped me, almost involuntary. "Is he kidding?" I muttered to myself, rolling my eyes. He had to be joking. This was the same man whoâd walked away without a single explanation, leaving me to piece together the wreckage of my heart on my own. Yet here he was, casually calling me "the love of his life," as if that title could erase everything that had happened between us.
Taking a breath, I continued reading, my fingers gripping the edges of the paper.
I wrote this letter back in December 2025, almost a year after we broke up. Well, after I broke up with you. I know what I did could never be justified, nor will it ever be okay, and Iâm writing this to tell you Iâm truly sorry.
Iâve spent every day since hating myself for how I hurt you. I couldnât even bring myself to face you and say it out loud. I was selfish, Y/N. I was only thinking about myself, my fears, my insecurities. But the truth is, losing you was the biggest mistake of my life. I know I didnât deserve you then, and I probably never will. You deserve someone better, someone who can love you fully and without hesitation. I was never that person, and for that, Iâm sorry.
A slight tremor ran through my hand as I lowered the letter, blinking back the prickle of tears that threatened to gather. So that was it? That was all he had to offer? An apology scratched out on a piece of paper, years after he'd torn me apart? I felt a strange mix of rage, sadness, and exhaustion welling up in me as I reread his words.
Iâd spent countless nights trying to understand why heâd left. Iâd gone through every possible reason in my mind, analyzing each argument, every little moment that might have led him to walk away. And here he was, admitting to being "selfish," "insecure," and telling me heâd "made a mistake." But it wasnât enough. I needed more. I needed an answer that made sense, something to validate the pain Iâd gone through.
I let out a shaky breath, the frustration building inside me. His "explanation" was just a reminder of how deeply heâd scarred me. All those moments Iâd doubted myself, the insecurities that had crept in because I thought I wasnât enough for him. And now, he was telling me that none of it had been my fault? That heâd just been... scared?
I felt a surge of anger rise, mingling with the hurt Iâd buried over the years. âSo that's it, huh?â I muttered to myself, voice edged with bitterness. âYou just get to come back and apologize? You get to âhate yourselfâ for what you did, and thatâs supposed to be enough?â
Another part of the letter caught my eye:
You deserve someone better, someone who can love you fully and without hesitation. I was never that person.
My eyes narrowed as I read those words. I didnât need someone to tell me what I deservedâIâd worked hard to find peace, to rebuild myself without his validation. Iâd made it to where I was now because I had pushed through the heartache, and I refused to let him swoop back in and disrupt the life Iâd built for myself.
My gaze drifted to the windows, the city skyline gleaming in the afternoon light. This was my world nowâa world Iâd crafted from the pieces he left behind. And the more I thought about it, the angrier I felt. He had no right to just appear out of nowhere and stir up these emotions, no right to force me to relive the pain Iâd worked so hard to bury.
I glanced down at the letter one last time, reading the final lines, feeling the bile rise in my throat.
If I could go back, Iâd have done things differently. But I canât change the past, Y/N. I know you might never forgive me, and I understand. I just needed you to know how sorry I am. You deserved better, and Iâm sorry I couldnât be that for you.
With a bitter laugh, I folded the letter neatly, my fingers pressing down on the creases with a sharp finality. âYouâre sorry?â I whispered to the empty room. âNo. Itâs too late for that.â My voice trembled with the weight of years of bottled-up resentment.
For a brief second, I considered crumpling the letter, letting it join the discarded pieces of him Iâd long since cast away. But instead, I placed it back on the desk, staring at it with a cold, unfeeling gaze. Jungkook could write all the letters he wanted. He could regret everything heâd done, but heâd never be able to undo the damage heâd caused.
âYou miss your mommy, huh? How about me? Donât you miss me?â he said in a playful, high-pitched voice, scratching behind Cosmoâs ears. My dog wagged his tail enthusiastically, clearly enjoying the attention.
Smiling to myself, I crept quietly toward the couch, leaning down to wrap my arms around Yoongiâs shoulders from behind.
âY/nnn!â he whined in surprise, tilting his head back to look at me.
I laughed, planting a quick kiss on his cheek. âSurprised you, didnât I?â
He huffed, a small pout forming on his lips, before breaking into a grin. âCosmo misses you,â he said, pointing dramatically to the dog. âAnd this person too.â He jabbed his thumb toward his chest.
I couldnât help but laugh. âOh, youâre funny,â I said, shaking my head. âLet me get ready, and we can head out to the club?â
âSure,â he replied, leaning back into the couch. âWhich club is it, anyway?â
âOh, Namjoon just opened a new one nearby,â I said, making my way toward the bedroom. âItâs called Serendipity.â
âCool,â Yoongi said, his tone casual. âLeave it to Joon to pick a name like that.â
--
After finishing the final touches on my outfit, I stepped out of the bedroom, feeling confident. My eyes immediately met Yoongiâs, who was leaning casually against the armrest of the couch. His gaze softened as he took me in, a small, appreciative smile curving his lips.
âYouâre always beautiful, babe,â he said, his voice low and warm. He pushed off the couch, closing the distance between us. âYou know, I was thinkingâŠâ His hand reached up to gently brush a strand of hair from my face. âMaybe we could just stay home tonight? Just you, me, and Cosmo.â
I crossed my arms, giving him my best pout. âYoongi,â I whined. âThis is the opening night. Namjoon will kill me if I donât show up.â
He chuckled softly, leaning down to press a quick kiss to my pouty lips. âIâm just kidding,â he said, his laughter rumbling against my cheek. âWouldnât miss it for the world. Besides,â he added with a wink, âI can't wait to see the new club anyway.â
at the clubÂ
âBabeee! You made it!â Namjoon grinned, pulling me into a quick hug. Sana followed, giving me a playful nudge before turning her attention to Yoongi. She stepped back, arms crossed, and eyed him from head to toe, a teasing glint in her eyes.
âOhhh, so you two are together now, huh?â she said, raising an eyebrow at me.
âWell, not exactly yet,â I admitted with a small smile, glancing at Yoongi, who simply shrugged with his usual calm demeanor.
Sana leaned in closer to him, lowering her voice. âListen, Yoongi,â she said, her tone light but with an edge of protectiveness. âYou know what her ex did. He broke her, left her shattered. If you even think about pulling something like thatâŠâ She smirked, âLetâs just say youâll be picking up your pieces from the floor.â
Yoongi didnât miss a beat. With a playful grin, he gave a mock salute. âUnderstood, maâam. Wonât let you down.â
Sana laughed, giving him a soft punch on the shoulder. âGood. I like this one,â she said, turning back to me. âDonât mess it up.â
Namjoon chuckled, shaking his head. âAlright, Sana, let the man breathe. Y/Nâs got good taste.â
We made our way deeper into the club, finding a table near the center. The place was packed, people swaying to the beat under the shimmering lights. Namjoon leaned in, his voice barely audible over the music. âYou might want a heads-up,â he said. âA lot of important people showed up tonight.â
âOh? Like who?â I asked, taking a sip of the cocktail Sana had handed me.
Namjoon hesitated for a moment, then said, âIâve got a new partnership lined up. Theyâre interested in using the club as a film set.â
âReally? Thatâs amazing!â I said, genuinely impressed.
âYeah,â he nodded, his expression slightly cautious. âItâs with GCFâGolden Closet Film Productions.â
The name hit me like a freight train. My smile faltered as my grip tightened around the glass. GCF. Of all the production companies, it had to be his.
âThatâsâŠinteresting,â I said, keeping my tone neutral, though my heart raced.
Namjoon noticed the shift in my demeanor. âAre you okay?â he asked, concern evident in his eyes.
Before I could respond, a familiar figure stepped into view. The air seemed to thicken around us as Jungkook made his entrance, his confident stride drawing attention. His sharp suit and slicked-back hair.
He didnât notice me right away, but when his eyes finally landed on our table, they locked onto mine.
The moment Jungkookâs face came into view, panic surged through my fading consciousness. He couldnât get my company, and now he had to come after Namjoonâs? My mind spiraled, and the pounding music faded into the background. My vision blurred, and before I could process what was happening, my legs buckled beneath me.
The world tilted, and everything went dark.
When I came to, faint voices surrounded me. My head pounded, and the bright lights overhead stung my eyes. Slowly, I began to piece together what had happened. I was lying on the floor, my body weak and heavy. As my vision cleared, I saw three men hovering over me.
Yoongi was the first to catch my attention, his face etched with worry. His hand rested gently on my shoulder, his voice calm but firm as he whispered, âY/N, stay with us. Itâs okay. Youâre safe.â
Namjoon was on my other side, his brow furrowed in concern. âBreathe, Y/N,â he said, his voice steady but tinged with panic. âYouâre going to be fine. Weâve got you.â
And then there was him.Â
Jungkook.
The one person I never expectedâor wantedâto see like this again. His face was pale, his hands trembling slightly as he checked my pulse. His eyes, usually so confident and cold, were filled with something I hadnât seen in yearsâgenuine fear.
âSomeone call an ambulance!â Jungkookâs voice cut through the noise, sharp and commanding. âNow!â
I blinked slowly, my vision flickering in and out. I could feel Yoongiâs grip tighten protectively, as if shielding me from the man who now knelt beside me.
âY/N, wake up,â Jungkook pleaded, his voice softer now, almost desperate. âPlease.â
Why was he here? Why was he acting like he cared? The questions swirled in my mind, but my body betrayed me. I was too weak to push him away, too drained to tell him to leave.
The last thing I saw before the darkness swallowed me again was Yoongi glaring at Jungkook, his jaw clenched, as if silently telling him to back off.
But Jungkook didnât move. He stayed right there, holding my hand, as if he had any right to.
The ambulance raced through the city, its sirens blaring as it made its way to the hospital. Inside, tension was thick in the air as Yoongi, Namjoon, and Jungkook all hovered around me, waiting for any sign of movement. The nurses worked swiftly, checking my vitals and preparing me for transport.
One of the nurses, a woman with a no-nonsense attitude, looked over her shoulder at the three men. "So," she began, glancing between them, "what are your relations to the patient?"
Namjoon spoke up first, his voice steady but tinged with concern. "Uh, Iâm her best friend. Kind of like a brother, but weâre not family... just very close."
Before the nurse could respond, Yoongi interrupted, speaking with an air of calmness that didnât match his inner turmoil. "Iâm her... partner. Weâre not exclusive," he said, his eyes still on me.
The nurse raised an eyebrow, but she nodded, jotting something down on her clipboard. Then her gaze shifted to Jungkook, who had been unusually quiet until now. "And you?" she asked, her voice neutral but probing.
Jungkook hesitated, his eyes flicking to me before he finally answered. "Iâm... her ex." His voice faltered just a little, but he didnât look away, clearly uncertain of how to explain himself.
The nurse gave a quick nod, her expression unreadable as she continued her work. "Alright, noted," she muttered
Yoongi, Namjoon, and Jungkook all nodded in unison, their faces still drawn with worry.
As the nurse made her way to the front of the ambulance, muttering something under her breath, it was clear she wasnât too keen on this complex situation. "Tough," she mumbled, not entirely directed at them but loud enough for all of them to hear.
The other nurse cleared his throat, breaking the awkward tension. âWeâre almost at the hospital. Just hang in there, alright?â He gave a reassuring smile before turning his attention back to the equipment.
at the hospital
"Okay, it seems like her vitals are stable," the doctor began, "but it appears there may be an underlying issueâmore psychological than physical. I suggest she undergoes a check-up with her psychiatrist."
He paused, looking from Yoongi to Namjoon, then to Jungkook. "Does she have any psychiatrist orâ?"
Before he could finish the sentence, Yoongi spoke up, his tone calm but firm. "Yes, she has a psychiatrist, and a therapist as well," Yoongi added, as if it was no big deal, but the words seemed to hang in the air, carrying an unexpected weight.
The doctor nodded in acknowledgment. "Good to know. I'll make a note of that," he said, before turning back to the charts.
Meanwhile, Jungkook's eyes narrowed, shooting Yoongi a quick glare.
Is he trying to rub it in on me that he has her or what?Â
Jungkook thought, feeling the subtle sting of jealousy. But he kept his thoughts to himself, watching as the others focused on the doctor.
The doctor continued, "I'll send the nurse in with the medication and a prescription."
Namjoon, who had been mostly silent up until now, spoke up, his voice tinged with concern. "Is there anything she should avoid or...?"
The doctor looked up, his expression softening slightly. "Avoid stress, skipping meals, too much screen time, excessive caffeine, and salty foods. That should help, at least for now," he advised. "She will be discharged tomorrow once she wakes up. Weâll keep monitoring her overnight."
Yoongi and Jungkook, both clearly anxious and equally invested in my well-being, bombarded the doctor with questions at the same time.
"When should she take the medication?" Yoongi asked, his voice urgent but trying to remain composed.
Jungkook jumped in right after, his tone sharp with impatience. "And how much should she take? Should we be worried about any side effects?"
The doctor looked between the two, raising an eyebrow at the sudden competition for answers. It wasnât lost on him how the situation was unfolding. "Itâs really up to her, but I recommend following the instructions on the prescription. If youâre both helping her, make sure she stays hydrated and follows a good routine," he said, handing over a piece of paper with the details. "Just keep an eye on her mental health. Thatâs the priority right now."
Namjoon, who had been standing back a little, exchanged a quick glance with Yoongi. He couldnât help but chuckle lightly under his breath. "I think the doc's right, you guys. She needs care, not a competition," he joked, trying to break the tension.
"Where am I?" I mumble, still feeling dizzy.
And then it hits me, my confusion turning into full-blown panic. I sit up quickly, my head spinning, my eyebrows furrowing in frustration. "what the fuck is happening?" I yell, completely freaking out. My heart is racing as I try to slap myself, muttering under my breath, "This is a dream. This is a dream." I say it enough for them to hear me, hoping Iâm just imagining this whole nightmare.
Before anyone can respond, I hear the doctorâs voice, soft and nonchalant. "Alright, I think itâs time for me to go out," he mumbles, and the door clicks shut behind him.
I stare at the empty doorway for a moment before scoffing bitterly. My emotions are spiraling out of control. I turn my attention to Jungkook, the rage bubbling up inside me. "Wow. Justâjust wow," I say, pointing a shaky finger in his direction. "You! You took two, three and a half years to finally show up in my life again?? Are you trying to ruin my life or something?" My voice is shaking with anger, every word feeling like itâs tearing me apart.
"Y/N," Yoongi tries to calm me down, but I donât want to hear it.
"No! This is all stupid!!" I yell, feeling the weight of everything pressing down on me. My hands cover my face as I try to stop myself from breaking down. I canât hold it in anymore, and I let out a frustrated yell. "Fuck! You guys shouldâve let me die there!" The words slip out before I can stop them, too raw, too real, but theyâre there, and I hate myself for saying them.
"Iâm sorry, Y/N..." I hear Jungkookâs voice, but it only makes things worse.
"No. Save your fucking sorrys," I snap, cutting him off, my heart pounding in my chest. "When you can finally man up and tell me why the fuck you left me, and what was your reason for it, then maybe Iâll listen to your sorry. Until then? You wonât be hearing a fucking word from me."
"fine!" I watched as Jungkook stormed out of the room, his blazer in hand, his anger vibrating through every movement.

Let's talk about why Hong Luâs left eye (his jade) is getting dimmer and what are the powers and characteristics of Jia Baoyu's jade in Dream of the Red Chamber.
Today, I would like to discuss Danteâs mysterious phrase about Hong Lu, taking the opportunity to explore the jade of Jia Baoyu in more detail, especially its powers and the influence it exerts over Jia Baoyu. Here is the structure of the discussion:
Does the light of Hong Lu symbolize his break from his false reality?
Does the light of Hong Lu symbolize the end of his journey and his will to "live"?
The appearance of Jia Baoyu's jade and its powers + their loss and how they are regained
Its connection with Jia Baoyu
Brief conclusion
Does the light of Hong Lu symbolize his break from his false reality?
In Canto VII, a phrase from Dante naturally captured the attention of all Hong Lu theorists. Dante observes the following thing about Hong Luâs eye:
"I noticed that the light in Hong Lu's left eye was growing dimmer, like light fading away as it sinks into the depths of the dark watersâŠ"
But what does this mean? To answer that, we must first determine what this light signifies before interpreting its disappearance. For that, we need to consider the dialogue preceding Danteâs remarkâthe words of Hong Lu himself when he speaks about the sparkling in Don Quixoteâs eyes:
"Isn't Don Quixote the most lucid one out of all of us?" "Her eyes, Dante. Always twinkling like two bright stars. They're so fascinating."
To Hong Lu, the glow in the eyes seems to be linked to clarity of mind and awareness. To him, Don Quixote is the most lucid of all because her eyes twinkle like two bright stars. Yet we know this is inaccurate, as Don Quixote is immersed in the illusion she created by erasing her memory at this point. So, itâs reasonable to suspect that Hong Lu's interpretation might be flawed.
This is also consistent with what we know about Hong Lu. Despite his frequent insightful observations and quick understanding of reality, his judgment can sometimes be clouded by his upbringing. After all, one of the first things we learn about him is that his view of the world and his interpretations can be distorted by his sheltered life.
Are we, therefore, dealing with a case where Hong Luâs upbringing prevents him from perceiving the truth?
Don Quixoteâs reality is an illusion, much like Hong Luâs appears to be. But because he sees his form of reality reflected in Don Quixoteâs, he can only conclude that Don Quixoteâs twinkling eyes are an expression of clarity when it might actually be the opposite. This could foreshadow Hong Luâs arc of breaking away from his past, family, and conditioning, realizing that what he associates with reality might be a lie, simply because he didnât know any better.
After all, Dulcinea connects the term "naive" with Don Quixoteâs twinkling eyes, (and "naive" is the adjective used for Hong Lu):
"I almost prefer that naive look from earlier. I still hated your eyes, twinkling or not, butâŠ"
To clarify what ânaiveâ implies, I like relying on The Walking Dead 4âs definition: Naive means you think a certain way because you donât know the way it really is.
I find this perfectly matches how naivety is understood in the world of Limbus Company, even if we cannot be certain of that. But if we accept that this definition applies to ânaiveâ in Project moonâs world, then being naive implies both innocenceâalmost childlikeâand living in a lie or denial of reality.
Additionally, the emphasis on the sparkles might support the theory of the moonstone, or that Hong Lu is connected to the abnormality Yang, as it involves disregarding reality (to avoid mental breakdown). But we are not here to talk about that.
Thus, if Hong Lu is mistaken, and the twinkling represents disillusionment and denial of reality, then the more Hong Lu's eye sparkles, the more heâs immersed in illusion, a false sense of truth.
So, the first reason Hong Luâs eye is dimming could be that heâs beginning to realize his reality wasnât true, symbolizing the start of his awakening. After all, even Vergilius reacted with « âŠÂ » to Hong Luâs remark so it could mean that he knows that Hong Lu is in the wrong.
So, if the glow represents the jade influences on Hong Luâs mental state and perception of reality, then the dimming of his jadeâs light might signify that heâs starting to break free from this mental crutch. However this is not what I believe inâŠ
Does the light of Hong Lu symbolize the end of his journey and his will to "live"?
What bothers me is that Dante describes the dimming of Hong Luâs eye light in a rather pessimistic, almost fatalistic way, as though Hong Lu is fading along with his jade's light, loosing himself:
"I noticed that the light in Hong Lu's left eye was growing dimmer, like light fading away as it sinks into the depths of the dark watersâŠ"
So, if this dimming light is a symbol of breaking free from an illusion why does Dante describe this so negatively with an emphasis on the idea of loosing Hong Lu? Maybe because, it is indeed a bad omen.
According to what Dulcinea says, Don Quixote's eyes were empty of light before when she was Sancho, this absence of twinkling at the time seems to be linked to the fact that Don Quixote/Sancho does not really believe in life and has already suffered too much from the latter. Dad Quixote then offers her a new life and hopes to bring those stars into her eyes by giving her a new family and then inviting her to participate in her adventures with him.
If we follow this analysis, then the light in Hong Luâs eye equals his will to live and optimism about the future. So if this light is fading, does that mean Hong Lu is beginning to lose the will to live?
Well, yes, I think so... but in a very specific way.
Hear me out, Hong Luâs eye is dimming because heâs aware his journey is nearing its end, that 7 of the 12 sinners have already regained their golden boughs, and that he may be the next:
Hong Luâs day is ending, and it is reflected in his eye. I would even go so far as to say Hong Lu, in some way (without being aware of it), equates his return home with the end of his life (this life of new experiences and in the City, and this life with freedom).
So, this take is much more of a speculation than the last one, but if we stick with the idea that twinkling = will to live (forward) then Hong Lu started his journey in a new world with a bright eye with expectations and a desire to live new experiences, but he knows that one day he will have to return home, he knows that his journey will end one day and therefore it is normal that the closer Hong Lu gets to his golden bough moment the more the light of his eye fades, since this will be the end of his "new experiences".
Which could also echo Hong Lu's suicidal tendencies.
But then, why does Hong Luâs eye produce sparks during Bloodfiend Hunter, Liu Story, and Yurodivy Story?
And it is now, that I would like to propose something. What if we separated the glow of Hong Luâs eye and the sparks it produces: What if these two manifestations relate to different things? If Hong Luâs glow reflects his mental state, then perhaps the sparks represent an effect of his jadeâs power.
This leads me to discuss Jia Baoyuâs jade, both to support this analysis and to share information about the stone and its powers for those who might not have time to read the novel.
The appearance of Jia Baoyu's jade and its powers + their loss and how they are regained
In Chapter 8, Jia Baoyuâs jade is described as follows:
The size of a sparrow egg (about 22.5 mm)
Shining like a bright coppery cloud
Smooth and lustrous like marbled cream.
On the jadeâs face is inscribed:
"Precious Gem of Spiritual Perception (also called Precious Jade of Spiritual Understanding). If thou wilt lose me not and never forget me, Eternal life and constant luck will be with thee!"
This means the stone is a talisman of protection and happiness. If Baoyu (or whoever holds it) keeps it close and never forgets it, they will be blessed with a long, prosperous life.
The reverse side reads:
"To exorcize evil spirits and the accessory visitations; to cure predestined sickness; to prognosticate weal and woe."
This inscription highlights the jadeâs protective power: it can ward off evil, cure illness, and predict fortune or disaster. It is both a magical and prophetic object.
This ability is confirmed again in chapter 25 when a Taoist priest says:
âIn your family, you have readily at hand a precious thing, the like of which is rare to find in the world. It possesses the virtue of alleviating the ailment, so why need you inquire about remedies?â
It is then revealed that it appears that the jade has lost some of its powers due to the dissipated life Baoyu has led; it has been polluted by music, lust, the pursuit of wealth, and other worldly distractions.
The monk then fix the jade and recites a poem reflecting the spiritual journey of the jade, as well as Baoyu's. In it, we are told:
The jade was once bound neither by heaven nor earth, existing in a state of spiritual purity undisturbed by human emotions (joy or sorrow).
However, upon entering the human world, it was exposed to disturbances. The jade is now tarnished by material elements ("the traces of powder and rouge stains"), symbolizing the carnal pleasures and temptations to which Baoyu has succumbed.
Finally, the monk predicts that, although the jade is currently trapped ("caged like a duck"), it will awaken from its "slumber," and once it fulfills its destiny, it will be freed.
[Little paranthesis]
I find the sentence used by the mond really interesting : "House bars both day and night encage thee like a duck" because it is really fitting for (yes Jia Baoyu but also) Hong's Lu's situation, especially with the use of the word "house".
[End of the little paranthesis]
Its connection with Jia Baoyu
The jade and Baoyu are interconnected and can be seen as one and the same, with each influencing the other. For instance, Baoyu's mood and emotions affect the appearance of the jade (its brightness), and the presence of the jade impacts Jia Baoyu's mental state (its absence renders him completely witless/foolish).
At one point in the novel, Jia Baoyu's jade shines particularly brightly when he believes he will marry Lin Daiyu (when he will actually marry Xue Baochai). This strong light seems to be triggered by Jia Baoyu aligning with his spiritual destiny.
All of this to say that even in the novel the glow of Jia Baoyuâs jade can mean several things at the time.
Brief conclusion
Returning to Hong Lu, I wonder if Project Moon has separated the manifestation of the jade's powers from the expression of its alignment with Hong Luâs mental state: therefore, when there are small sparks, it indicates that his jadeâs powers are manifesting, while the varying intensity of light would reflect a part of his mental state.
It would suggest that Hong Lu, as an individual, is gradually disappearing, maybe renouncing to his will, becoming a puppet entirely under his family's control. Indeed, when Jia Baoyu loses his jade and becomes completely foolish, his behavior shows that he is controllable and malleable; he is so witless that he cannot act independently and only repeats what he is told.
However, I canât complete this analysis without mentioning that Jia Baoyuâs jade also loses its shine due to worldly influences, like music, lust, the pursuit of wealth, and other earthly distractions. So, does the cityâs dark and horrific environment tarnish Hong Lu's jade?
Well, the issue is that, although the city is an apocalyptic world grounded in reality, it canât truly be described as an environment where Hong Lu experiences lust or wealth, the false pleasures of life; which are what tarnish the jade in DOTRC.
On the contrary, he lives more of a life that Jia Baoyu begins to envy at one point in the novel because it is a life free from the obligations and facades imposed on him by his family. Therefore, what he is currently experiencing should not affect the brightness of his eye.
So, after all this blabla, I think that Hong Luâs eye is gradually getting dimmer as the end of Hong Lu's journey approaches, which signifies the end of his new experiences and his return to a life of wealth but also to a life with his family and to how things used to be.
We could see this light fading away as an hourglass where the sand is slowly falling down but little by little there will be no more remaining sand at the top.
I fear that when this happens, by going back home, Hong Lu will lose all individuality and will, becoming docile and obedient as he seems to have always been at home. And he is accepting this and it is because he is accepting this that his eye is getting dimmer, it is reflecting Hong Luâs decline.
I think that during Hong Luâs Canto, one of the biggest challenges will not only be to retrieve the golden bough but also to convince Hong Lu to leave with us. Itâs almost certain that when we reach his home, Hong Lu wonât be able to leave with us because, his family wonât allow it, and above all, he wonât want to either because heâll convince himself that he can't and that his little trip is over.
Iâd like to finish by saying that Hong Luâs Rose Hunter EGO Corrosion could really be linked to this because we can see that Hong Lu in his corrosion has a hangmanâs like rope around his neck, formed by his horseâs reins.
Even if I want to analyse Hong Luâs EGOs in another post I will just say that for me it is the symbol that Hong Lu is dependent of his (determined) fate and the will of the narrative (his family) even if it has to equal to his death (literally or figuratively or mentally we donât know). I think it also means that even if Hong Lu believe being in control of his actions and decisions, in reality he is just following the lead of « his horse », the one conducting him, deciding where he is going â and so I think following his familyâs wishes.
VoilĂ , thank you for reading!

Run From Me Darlin'
Tommy Shelby x female reader (Alfie's wife)
A/N: Taking shelter requested by @thomashelbyswife. Song is "Run from Me" by Timber Timbre. Prompts "I didn't know where else to go." Part of my Corrupt a Wish challenge.
Divider credit: @wethairjoel
Warnings: language, mention of infidelity, betrayal Corrupt a wish reminder: If you think this story has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention. Proceed with caution!
The servants at Margate had long since retired when they heard their master's voice echoing throughout the house, along with an eery melody from the ancient piano in the parlor.
"Run from me, darlin' Run, my good wife Run from me, darlin' You better run for your life"
And so you were in that moment, escaping a mad man who had made your life a misery from the moment you said I do. You ran from your seaside home in only your night dress, no possessions or money to your name. It was fear that drove you from him that night as he threatened to kill you.
That's how you found yourself on the doorstep of Tommy Shelby's manor the next morning, your shivering form but a memory of the woman he'd come to know the past five years.
"Y/n, what's happened?" Tommy asked as he ushered you inside and draped a blanket over you.
"I didn't know where else to go," you cried in despair, breaking down the moment you saw his sympathetic sapphire eyes staring back at you.
"You're going to be alright," he assured you, looping a strong arm around your waist for support. "Tell me what he's done," he urged, guiding you to sit on the sofa in his office.
He poured you a drink to steady your nerves and you confided everything. The periods of time you'd been locked in your room because of his suspicions about the two of you, followed by angry and often nonsensical tirades. Your chest heaved with pain and your voice faltered with hiccuped gasps at the horrendous treatment you'd received for over a month.
"How did you manage to escape?" Tommy asked.
"A door left ajar by a new maid," you replied.
Tommy nodded solemnly as he listened, then drained his glass of whisky without answer. He didn't have to because you knew he didn't believe in hurting women, having agreed many times before that his friend's behavior was crossing a line.
As Tommy lightly stroked your hair, you felt compelled to share the threat against him as well, quietly explaining Alfie's plans to crush Shelby Company Limited with his uncle's connection to the opium trade in America. Though you sensed his frustration as his fingers curled into your shoulder, you tried to soften the blow by proposing this as a time of new beginnings. "Run away with me, Tommy," you urged, gazing hopefully into his eyes.
"Leave it to me," he assured, placing a chaste kiss to your temple.
You settled back against him, covering his hand with yours before giving way to exhaustion.
Feeling your body grow heavy with sleep, Tommy called for the housekeeper to look after you. "Frances, take Y/n upstairs and draw a bath," he instructed carefully. "Then prepare the guest room for her. She'll be staying with us tonight."
"Yes, sir," the woman replied, taking you by the hand with such gentle ease, you began to weep.
"Oh, my dear," she gasped as she guided you upstairs. "Don't worry, Mr. Shelby will set it right." And you couldn't help but believe the promise in her voice.
Downstairs Tommy paced his office in agitation before finally tossing his glass against the fireplace in anger. As the shards of glass fell at his feet, he tried not to picture your beatific face crumbling. In fact, he tried not to think of you at all as he raised the receiver to his ear.
"What the fuck do you want?" Alfie grumbled.
Tommy traced the phone cord, thinking of all the times his so-called friend had betrayed him and how fitting it would be to humiliate him by stealing his wife forever. However, the notion of partnering together to control the opium trade abroad was far more enticing.
"How is your uncle in Boston?" he asked.
Alfie huffed out a laugh as he asked, "And why are you so concerned about the state of my family this evening?"
Tommy didn't have to say your name, it was implied the moment he began to negotiate. "You'd exchange my wife for access to Boston, would ya?" Alfie sneered with a knowing grin.
"I would," Tommy answered without hesitation.
And that's how the deal was made late one September afternoon as you soaked in the bath, quite unaware you would be reunited with your husband the following morning.
You had one last peaceful slumber before realizing you'd been sold out, exiting Arrow House kicking and screaming against the men your husband sent to punish you.
"I thought you loved me. How could you do this?" you cried when you glimpsed Tommy's somber face waiting in the drive.
Motioning for the men to let you go, Tommy welcomed you into his open arms as he whispered, "It's not personal, it's business."
You wanted to fight him, but instead you pleaded for your life. "Have mercy," you begged against his lips when he offered one last passionate kiss. A glimmer of promise was restored in that moment as you swore you felt his muscular frame give way into yours. However, you underestimated the strength of his resolve. One look into his icy blue eyes told you, he would never claim you as his own.
"Run," Tommy urged you under his breath, waiting for Alfie's men to give chase.
As he watched you flee toward the open field where he kept his horses, he hoped your swinging gate would prevail. Swallowing hard at the sight of his betrayal, he loathed the man he had become.
"Run for your life," he whispered, knowing it was already too late.

With your recent addition to Karasuno's volleyball team, you had been trying to catch up on the sportâs basics. Youâd watched a few games on TV, but it was hard to stay awake until the end; genuine interest in volleyball still hadnât really taken root for you.
Most of your time in the gym consisted of supporting Hinata, shielding him from Kageyamaâs frustrated outbursts whenever he made a mistake. Usually, youâd spend those hours sitting on the floor, reviewing sheet music or doodling in your notebook. On rare occasions, Hinata would insist on teaching you the basics of serving and receiving, which always ended in laughter and failed attempts to learn.
"So, what exactly do you do in the club?" asked Nayuta, plopping down beside you. Both of you watched Hinata and Kageyama train on the outdoor court under the shade of a large tree. Comfortable in your company, your friend pulled out a couple of candies from her bag, offering one to you without waiting for a reply.
"For now, absolutely nothing," you admitted with a sigh that clearly showed your growing boredom. The past few days had felt like an endless loop of watching the two rookies practice over and over to prepare for Saturday's match against Daichi.
"Is there at least anyone handsome enough to make spending your afternoons there worthwhile?" Nayuta joked, casting a critical look at the scene before biting into a piece of chocolate and offering you another. "Because if thatâs the case, maybe I should join too," she added with a wink.
"Is there really any appeal in watching sweaty teenagers run after a ball?" you replied, letting yourself be drawn into the humor of the conversation while savoring the chocolate.
"Try to think of them like puppies," she suggested, straightening up to adjust her jacket. Her laughter grew louder as she watched Hinata doing everything he could to retrieve the ball, which had gotten stuck in one of the tree branches. Both of you burst into laughter when, after much effort, the boy finally managed to get it down, only for Kageyama to throw the ball at him as he turned around, accidentally hitting him in the face.
"See?" Nayuta remarked, stifling her laughter. "Just like clumsy puppies.â
You both spent a while lost in your own little bubble, chatting about boys, sharing gossip, and trading funny stories from your former schools. When the alarm on Nayuta's watch went off, you both snapped back to reality. "Wow, I have to get back home," Nayuta sighed as she stood up, brushing dirt off her skirt and tucking a few dark strands of hair behind her ear before picking up her bag.
"Alright, Iâm off. Are you staying a bit longer, or do you want me to walk you out?" she offered with a smile. You thanked her but shook your head; Hinata had asked you to wait for him that day so you could walk home together.
You said goodbye to Nayuta, and once she left, you walked over to where Hinata and Kageyama were still practicing with boundless energy. "Hinata, itâs getting dark. Donât you think itâs time to go?" you commented, using your fingers to tidy up a bit of your messy hair and adjusting the Pochacco hair clip you wore.
"Just one more time!" Hinata replied, his focus entirely on the ball Kageyama had just tossed to him. Just as the redhead was about to receive it, a hand extended over his head and caught the ball in mid-air.
Both of them turned around, surprised, to see two students who looked like they were first or second years. One of them was impressively tall, even taller than Kageyama.
"So here you were, training outside... you must be the first-years who caused trouble on the first day," the blonde boy commented confidently as he held the ball.
"Give it back!" demanded Hinata, stretching to reach it, but the blonde easily raised his arm, making it nearly impossible for the short redhead to get to it.
"Little kids should go home," the blonde said with a mocking smile, as if the three of them were little more than a joke. Visibly angered, Hinata clenched his fists and raised his voice.
"And who do you think you are?" Hinata retorted, annoyed by the newcomers' attitude.
"Theyâre the other first-years who joined the team," Kageyama commented, not hiding his irritation as he stared at them.
"First-years?" you couldn't help but exclaim, observing in astonishment the height of both boys. Your gaze lingered on the blonde, who was especially tall. "But... theyâre so tallâŠ" you murmured, more to yourself than to anyone else.
Kageyama, challenging the two newcomers with his gaze, asked directly, "How tall are you?"
"Tsukki is 1.88 meters," the freckled boy accompanying the blonde chimed in, speaking with evident enthusiasm. "And soon, he'll be 1.90 meters."
"Tsukki?" You wondered if that was a nickname since the blonde didnât seem like someone with such a sweet-sounding name.
"Why are you bragging, Yamaguchi?" grumbled the blonde boyâapparently Tsukkiâwith a tone that revealed a mix of annoyance and resignation, as if this situation repeated itself often.
"Sorry, Tsukki," murmured the freckled boy, lowering his gaze. There was something endearing about his attitude that made you smile; he seemed genuinely friendly.
"You're Kageyama from Kitagawa Daiichi, right?" continued the blonde boy, momentarily ignoring his friend. "Whatâs someone like you doing at Karasuno?" His tone had a hint of mockery, but it also made it clear that Kageyama was known. You wondered how famous or talented he must be for everyone to know his name.
Hinata, unable to stand being ignored, raised his voice again, interrupting the conversation. "Hey, weâre not going to lose on Saturday! Got that?" His determination was admirable, though it seemed the blonde didnât share his enthusiasm.
Tsukki, as his friend called him, cast a scrutinizing glance at Hinata before speaking, his tone filled with indifference. "I see. Maybe itâs important to you guys, but I couldnât care less. Winning or losing doesnât matter to me, so if you need it, I could⊠hold back," he commented nonchalantly, spinning the ball in his hands.
Hold back? Who did this guy think he was? You were surprised by his attitude, and apparently, you werenât the only one.
"Whether you hold back or not, Iâll beat you anyway," replied Kageyama, looking at him with a coldness that conveyed his challenge.
"Say it in plural!" corrected Hinata, furious at the way Kageyama took all the responsibility solely for himself. Hinataâs response provoked a slight, sardonic laugh from Tsukki.
"Such confidence⊠no wonder they call you the King," the blonde scoffed, his words laced with an evident venom that didnât go unnoticed.
The mention of the nickname made Kageyamaâs expression harden. "Donât call me that," he muttered, his eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and contained shame.
You were briefly distracted from the confrontation when you felt a gaze fixed on you. Turning, you noticed it was Yamaguchi, who was watching his friend and then you, as if evaluating the situation. Realizing youâd noticed him, he quickly looked away, turning his attention back to Tsukki and Kageyama.
The tension reached a critical point when Kageyama, with a scowl, grabbed Tsukki by the collar of his shirt, his eyes filled with hatred and defiance. Watching the scene, you felt it was time to step in before things got out of hand.
"Alright, thatâs enough," you interrupted firmly, approaching Kageyama. You looked at him seriously, and your eyes met his, which slowly softened before he looked away from Tsukki. Finally, he let go and stepped back, still clearly upset.
âLetâs go,â said Kageyama, addressing you and Hinata, who nodded without saying a word. As you gathered your things and turned to leave, you looked back at Tsukki one last time. He was taller than you had initially noticed, and you had to look up to meet his eyes. You gave him a disapproving look before following your teammates.
âAre you going to run away? Seems like the King isnât so important after all,â Tsukki commented provocatively, showing no limits to his boldness. His comment drew a threatening look from both you and Hinata, but he simply ignored the reaction. âMaybe Iâll beat you this Saturday,â he added casually, tossing the ball into the air once more. It was the chance Hinata had been waiting for; he sprang forward and caught the ball mid-air.
âEnough with the âKingâ thing,â Hinata replied in an unusually serious tone. âIâm here too, and on Saturday, Iâm going to spike right over you,â he promised, Defending Kageyama for the first time. It seemed the redhead was determined to face him, though a bit of nervousness made him step back slightly under the blondeâs challenging gaze. âW-what, you want to fight?â
Tsukki let out a snort, this time with a more neutral than sarcastic tone. âItâs not that serious,â he replied. âItâs just a club. Letâs have some fun.â
"It's not just a club!" Hinata replied.
âIt is what it is,â the blonde said, shrugging and starting to walk away with his friend. However, he stopped when Hinata asked their names.
âKei Tsukishima, class 1-4,â he finally responded.
âAnd Iâm Tadashi Yamaguchi,â added his companion, introducing himself with a shy smile and a kind voice.
Tsukishima looked at Kageyama and then at Hinata. âFrom today, weâre teammates, but until Saturday⊠weâre rivals. Iâm looking forward to seeing those famous âKingâ sets.â With that, he turned around and started walking away, while Yamaguchi kindly said goodbye with a âSee you.â
Before Hinata could respond, you grabbed him by the collar, dragging him in the opposite direction. âEnough, itâs time to go,â you insisted, tired of the confrontation and anticipating the scolding you might get if you were late. Ignoring Hinataâs complaints, you started walking at a brisk pace, noticing that Kageyama was silently following you as well.
You glanced at him from the corner of your eye and, in a firm tone, told him, âAnd you⊠I want you to crush them on Saturday.â The intensity of your words seemed to surprise him; his gaze met yours, and after a moment of reflection, he nodded with renewed determination. Without another word, he looked ahead, a new spark in his eyes, ready to face the challenge.
âAhhh,â you yawned as you snuggled deeper into the softness of your sheets. You sank into the comfort of your bed, enjoying the luxury of sleeping in. But suddenly, something clicked in your mind. Wait a minute⊠itâs Saturday! The match!
You jumped up, tossing the sheets aside, and rushed to get dressed. You picked out a pink athletic outfit, the one your mom had bought you when you told her youâd joined the volleyball club.
You raced down the stairs, ready to dash out the door toward the school. However, just as you were crossing the doorway, you felt a tug on your bag that made you stop in your tracks. Turning around, you saw your dad, who was looking at you with a mischievous smile while he let go of your bag and ruffled your hair affectionately.
âAnd where do you think youâre going so early on a Saturday?â he asked, the smile never leaving his face.
âDad, I have practice,â you lied, since you barely even touched the ball when you were at the gym. You glanced at the clock out of the corner of your eye, feeling the time slip away.
âSince when are you interested in sports?â he asked, watching you curiously. âYou never play with me.â
âBecause you donât play either,â you replied impatiently, still keeping an eye on the clock. âCan I go now? Iâm going to be late!â
He nodded with a resigned smile and, with a finger on your chest, added in a protective tone, âBe careful. And donât let those kids bother you. If anyone crosses the line, donât hesitate to tell me.â
âYes, yes, bye!â you shouted, running down the street to get to school as quickly as possible.
When you reached the doors of the gym, you paused for a moment to catch your breath. You had run almost the entire way, and the wind had left your hair a mess. After quickly fixing it, you walked into the gym and noticed the game had already started. You went over to Sugawara, who greeted you with a warm smile. You looked at the scoreboard: Tsukishima and Yamaguchiâs team was leading by 16 points over Hinata and Kageyamaâs team. It made you frown a little, though you were glad youâd made it in time for the first set.
âY/N! Hi, I thought you werenât going to make it,â Sugawara greeted you enthusiastically when he noticed youâd arrived. He looked at your athletic outfit and smiled, âNice outfit.â
You felt your cheeks heat up, and you were sure youâd turned as red as a tomato. âT-Thanks,â you stammered, trying to calm yourself. Itâs just a compliment, you reminded yourself. People give compliments all the time.
You both turned your attention back to the game as the whistle sounded for the next serve. It was Daichiâs turn, and he made a flawless serve. Kageyama prepared to set the ball perfectly to Hinata, and the redhead, with determination, hit the ball hard, managing to dodge Tsukishimaâs block.
âWell done!â you shouted excitedly, unable to contain yourself. Hinataâs eyes lit up when he saw you, and for a brief moment, you noticed something different in Kageyamaâs usually cold expression. Happiness? Satisfaction? You werenât sure, but it seemed like he was sharing the same excitement.
âY/N!â Hinata exclaimed, raising his hand proudly. âIt touched my hand! I canât believe it!â He stared at his hand in amazement, as if the contact with the ball had been something almost miraculous. Then, he motioned for you to take a closer look at his hand.
You laughed, caught up in his enthusiasm, and nodded. âYouâre doing it, Hinata! Keep it up.â
Soon, everyone in the gym realized something incredible: Hinata hadnât actually seen the ball when he made that impressive spike; he had placed complete trust in Kageyama, who had set the ball with amazing precision, right into his hand. Though they tried to replicate that move several times, they couldnât quite achieve the same perfection, leaving everyone wondering if it had been a coincidence or just a lucky strike. The score was now 15 to 22; they were still behind, but the team spirit remained high.
You approached Hinata, who was rubbing the side of his face after getting hit by the ball again. You laughed a little at his embarrassed expression, especially when Kiyoko came over to check if he was okay, making him noticeably nervous.
âWhatâs so funny?â protested Hinata, flustered with a blush on his cheeks. âThatâs the second time itâs hit me in the face!â He turned to Kageyama, frowning. âDid you do it on purpose? Weâre on the same team, you know!â But Kageyama just ignored him, returning to his position without a word.
The whistle blew again, and both teams readied themselves. Yamaguchi took his position to serve, and Tanaka received the ball smoothly, passing it quickly to Kageyama. With quick and calculated movements, Kageyama prepared to set it up for Hinata. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi anticipated the move and readied themselves to block, but Hinata, agile and strategic, moved to the open side of the court just before the ball reached him. Bam! Another clean, successful spike.
Now they were in the second set, and the score was tied. You glanced over at Tsukishima, who seemed to be losing patience with his opponents' performance. When he noticed your gaze, you lifted your chin proudly and gave him your best âhow do you like that?â expression. Tsukishima merely rolled his eyes in response, while Yamaguchi, noticing the exchange, let out a quiet laugh.
âWell done!â you praised Kageyama and Hinata after they managed to pull off their impressive spike once again, which they were starting to master. Sugawara, Ennoshita, and Kinoshita exchanged smiles, clearly inspired by your enthusiasm and competitive spirit.
Sugawara ruffled your hair affectionately. âYouâre quite competitive,â he commented with a kind smile.
The score had moved forward, now 21 for Kageyamaâs team and 25 for Tsukishimaâs. Both teams looked visibly exhausted.
You went over to Hinata and Kageyama, giving Hinata a friendly pat on the back. He smiled when he saw you. âY/N, did you see that? Iâm amazing!â he exclaimed, overflowing with energy, hands on his hips and chest puffed out proudly.
âYouâre getting better,â you congratulated him, handing him a water bottle. Hinata accepted it happily and took a drink, satisfied. Then, you turned to Kageyama. âKageyama, well done.â
The dark-haired boy looked slightly surprised by your compliment, his gaze drifting away for a moment, avoiding direct eye contact. His response came in an almost inaudible murmur. âThanks.â
He turned his back to you and Hinata, seeming nervousâa subtle shift in his posture that didnât escape your notice.
âWhatâs up with you, Kageyama? Whatâs wrong?â Hinata asked with a mischievous smile, noticing his sudden reaction. Hinataâs eyes sparkled with amusement as he observed his teammateâs reddening ears. âDid you get nervous? Aw, canât handle a compliment from a girl?â he teased, throwing an arm around your shoulders and giving you a playful look.
âShut up!â growled Kageyama, but his tone lacked its usual authority. He still wouldnât turn around, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.
Suddenly, Hinataâs attention shifted to Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, who were on their side of the court. With a quick gesture, he linked his arm with yours and pulled you toward them. âKageyama, come on,â Hinata called, signaling for them to follow. âTsukishima,â he continued determinedly, calling out to the tall, blond boy with glasses. He extended his hand toward him.
âWhat?â Tsukishima asked, looking at Hinataâs outstretched hand with evident confusion.
âWe should shake hands before and after the match, even though we didnât do it before,â Hinata explained, his tone a bit more serious but still carrying his characteristic positive energy. âBesides, weâre teammates now, even if Iâm not too happy about it.â
Tsukishima didnât seem too convinced by the idea. He stood rigid, his gaze drifting away, clearly uncomfortable with the suggestion.
âCome on, didnât you know?â Hinata insisted, glancing behind him at Daichi, who was talking with Sugawara and Tanaka. âTheyâll kick you off if you donât have team spirit,â he added, waving his hand in front of Tsukishima like it was the answer to all his problems.
Tsukishima didnât make a single move. âThe reason they were kicked out was because they disobeyed the captain,â he explained in an annoyed tone, his gaze fixed on the three of you. âYou guys started arguing and pulled the vice principalâs toupee off.â He cast a judgmental look at the three of you, as if your behavior had been completely out of placeâand it was.
âF-forget those details,â Hinata retorted, biting his lip to keep calm while trying to maintain his composure. âJust shake my hand!â This was his final attempt before lunging at Tsukishima, though it was clear it wouldnât be that easy.
Hinata tried to grab the blondâs hand, but Tsukishima, quicker and more agile, kept dodging from side to side to avoid the contact. The scene turned into a comedic spectacle, with Hinata chasing Tsukishima around while you and Kageyama watched without much interest.
âY/N, help me!â Hinata shouted, visibly frustrated at not being able to accomplish his goal.
âTsk, no way,â you replied, crossing your arms with an amused smile. You couldnât help but enjoy the absurdity of the situation. Kageyama, for his part, simply observed the ridiculous spectacle without moving.
Finally, Hinata achieved the impossible: he managed to shake Tsukishimaâs hand. The victory was fleeting, however, as Tsukishima looked at him with an expression of pure disgust, as if heâd just touched something completely unhygienic.
âAre you okay, Tsukki?â Yamaguchi asked, a mix of concern and horror on his face as he observed his friendâs reaction. Tsukishima didnât reply, but his expression said it all, showing a blend of disdain and revulsion from having touched Hinataâs hand.
âTsukishima!â Daichiâs firm voice interrupted the scene. The captain approached to speak privately with the blond, and you decided to take a few steps back, giving them space.
Meanwhile, Hinata and Kageyama pulled out a couple of crumpled papers from their pockets. âCaptain!â Hinata exclaimed, holding both forms out to Daichi, who examined them closely. A slight jolt of panic hit youâwas there something you were supposed to submit as well? You didnât remember turning in anything like that.
âShimizu!â Daichi called to the team manager, holding the forms in his hand. âThe stuff arrived, right?â he asked, and Kiyoko nodded with a small smile.
âWhat stuff?â Hinata asked, visibly intrigued. Kiyoko approached, carrying a large box, which she carefully placed on the ground and opened. Inside, perfectly folded and ready to wear, were the Karasuno volleyball team jackets. Hinata let out a gasp of amazement and picked up a jacket, looking at it as if it were the most precious thing in the world.
âThey should fit well,â Kiyoko commented as the new team members looked at their jackets with admiration. âBut let me know if you need any adjustments,â she added before picking up the box and stepping away.
Tanaka, Sugawara, and you looked at the four new members in awe. âOh, it looks great on you,â Sugawara complimented Hinata as he donned the jacket and showed it off proudly, as if wearing it was an honor in itself.
Daichi took a step forward, his voice filled with emotion. âFrom now on, weâre the Karasuno volleyball team,â he announced, his words brimming with pride. Then, with a quick countdown, all the team members shouted in unison, âWelcome!â
âThank you!â the new members replied.
Hinata and Kageyama returned to the court, as energetic as ever. It seemed impossible that those two would ever tire. You looked around and noticed everyone was deep in conversation, forming lively little groups. You sighed and, feeling a small pang of loneliness, sat in a corner not too far from the others and turned on your PSP, seeking distraction.
It didnât take long before a shadow fell over you, interrupting your game. You frowned, thinking it was Hinata again. âNow whatâŠ?â you muttered, looking up in mild annoyance, ready to face the redheadâs hyperactivity. But instead of Hinata, you found yourself looking at the imposing figure of Tsukishima, who eyed you with his typical critical expression and those honey-colored eyes that seemed to scrutinize every detail.
âDo you need something?â you asked, surprised by his presence but keeping your composure.
Tsukishima raised an eyebrow, maintaining that air of superiority as he rested his hands on his hips. âWhat exactly are you doing here?â he asked, not bothering to soften his tone.
You blinked, slightly taken aback. Right, you hadnât had the chance to formally introduce yourself. âIâm the assistant coach,â you answered with a slight shrug, trying to sound casual.
âWe donât have a coach,â Tsukishima replied, raising an eyebrow again and leaning down a bit to get a better look at you. âDo you even know how to play, or are you just here to babysit the carrot-top?â
You scowled, resisting the urge to let his tone get to you. âOf course, I know how to play, b-but Iâm not very good,â you admitted, standing your ground. âAnd, by the way, donât call Hinata that.â
Tsukishima barely smirked, a sarcastic smile reflecting his usual provocative attitude. âThen prove it,â he challenged suddenly, not breaking eye contact.
âProve what?â You looked at him, puzzled.
âThat you know how to play,â he replied, crossing his arms with a defiant air. âUnless you want to take back your claim.â
The challenge in his eyes was evident, and you had no intention of backing down. You felt Yamaguchi watching with a mix of curiosity and nervousness, probably hoping the situation wouldn't escalate. Still, you didn't retreat. "Alright," you said with determination, "if that's what it takes to convince you."
Tsukishima stepped back a couple of paces, his lips curving into a nearly satisfied smile. Yamaguchi, who was still close by, gave you a friendlier smile and offered some encouraging words. "You don't have to do it. Tsukki sometimes just enjoys teasing," he said apologetically, trying to soften the challenge his friend had issued.
With a slight smile, you nodded to Yamaguchi before walking to the center of the court and picking up one of the balls lying on the ground. "It's fine," you replied, feeling a mix of nerves and determination as you prepared yourself.
"Make a serve. I'll receive it," called Tsukishima from a safe distance, his voice tinged with a mocking tone. "If you can, of course," he added, with a challenging smile.
You took a deep breath, trying not to let the pressure get to you. Come on, Y/N, you can do this, you reminded yourself. After all, Hinata had taught you some basic moves, and you'd practiced enough to trust in a solid serve.
You weighed the ball in your hands, tossing it into the air a few times as you gathered momentum. With a sigh, you went for a low serve, focusing on directing the ball with strength and precision towards Tsukishima. But just as the ball sailed across the court, the gym door burst open, drawing everyone's attention, including Tsukishimaâs.
The impact was inevitable: the ball hit Tsukishima square in the face, who, surprised and with no time to react, fell to the ground from the force of the hit. A dull sound echoed in the gym, followed by a collective gasp of surprise.
"Tsukki!" exclaimed Yamaguchi, visibly worried, running over to his friend to make sure he was okay.
âOh noâŠâ you whispered, bringing your hands to your mouth as you took in the scene. "Shit!" you added, unable to hold back your reaction.
"Are you... are you alright?" You quickly approached Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, your voice rushed and filled with concern as you looked at the reddish mark on his cheek where the ball had hit. Tsukishima scowled, rubbing the side of his face, which still seemed sore from the blow. You tried not to laugh, although the scene was somewhat amusing in retrospect.
Noticing his glasses lying nearby, you hurried to pick them up. "Here you go," you murmured, quickly wiping the lenses with the edge of your sweatshirt. Then you knelt beside him and gently placed them back on the bridge of his nose. However, the glasses werenât quite aligned, slipping slightly and giving him an unexpectedly adorable look.
"Sorry... really. I didn't mean to, you know..." you murmured, trying to sound sincere. Still, you couldnât deny that a small part of you found some satisfaction in the incident, though, of course, you werenât about to admit it aloud.
Tsukishima snorted, crossing his arms and regaining his usual air of superiority. "You could start by improving your aim if you actually know how to play," he commented, his tone dry, though not without a hint of irony.
You tried to lighten the moment with a smile. "Well, at least it was a strong serve," you joked, though Tsukishima didnât seem to find it funny; instead, he frowned, crossing his arms.
"It was a pathetic serve," he replied coldly, looking at you as if you were entirely responsible for the situation.
"Not my fault you couldnât receive a beginnerâs serve," you defended yourself firmly. "Why were you distracted?"
"And you were distracted too," Tsukishima retorted, his tone no less challenging.
"Guys, guys, come on, it was just an accident," Yamaguchi interjected with a nervous smile, trying to mediate in the argument.
Tsukishima, however, cut him off immediately. "Shut up, Yamaguchi."
"Hey, donât tell him to shut up!" you protested, shooting Tsukishima a reproachful look. There was something in his arrogant attitude that pushed you to challenge him, and you werenât about to let him belittle his own friend.
Before Tsukishima could respond, Tanaka called out to the three of you from the other side of the court. "Hey, you three, come here!" His voice had its usual energy, and when you turned, you realized that the rest of the team had already gathered around Takeda-sensei, who was waiting to give instructions.
"Weâll have a match after classes," Takeda-sensei explained calmly, waiting for everyone to pay attention. "It'll be after school, so thereâs only one game. We'll rent a bus for transportation, so donât be late. Understood?" The players nodded in unison, and the excitement among the new members was palpable.
After practice ended, you packed up your things and made sure to leave the gym in order along with the others. With your bag slung over your shoulder, you walked home leisurely, enjoying the cool evening air.
As you reached your front door, you began searching your pocket for the keys, when you heard a familiar voice.
"Hi!" It was Hinata, who was passing by quickly on his bike, greeting you with a big smile. "Bye!" he shouted as he disappeared down the street, his energy as contagious as ever. You couldnât help but smile and shake your head.
âWhere the hell is he!?â Nayuta growled, pacing back and forth in front of your desk in the classroom. You had never seen her this angry before, and her footsteps echoed with a frantic rhythm. The three of you were supposed to split the science project to make it easier: each person would do a part, and then you would all put it together at school. But now, the only part missing was Hinataâs, and the redhead still hadnât shown up.
âI swear to God, if he doesnât show up, IâŠâ Nayuta left the threat unfinished, but her hands, clenched as if trying to crush something, made the message clear. The frustration on her face made you bite back a smile; it wasnât wise to joke around in this moment.
âCome on, Yuyu, maybe he just didnât have time to do it,â you tried to smooth things over, hoping to calm her down. However, Nayuta shot you a look as sharp as her feline eyes, clearly unconvinced.
âDonât justify him, Y/N,â she snapped, pointing her finger accusingly at you before returning to check her phone for the fifth time. âThis is exactly why we shouldnât trust short people,â she sighed in exasperation, as if she had just uncovered the root of all the problems.
You had to bite your tongue to stop yourself from laughing. Her logic was absurd, considering that Nayuta was the same height as Hinata. However, you decided to let the comment slide and shift tactics.
âWhat if we go look for him?â you suggested. âMaybe something came up, and he needs help.â
âWhere do you think that restless butt is?â Nayuta asked, crossing her arms and looking at you skeptically.
âWell, maybe in the gymâŠâ you started to say, but then remembered something. You had overheard some of the guys talking about using the club room to change and leave their things. âI think I know where they might be.â
You stood up and grabbed Nayutaâs hand, guiding her purposefully through the hallways. As you walked through the school, the familiarity of the surroundings made Nayuta relax her grip slightly, though she remained on edge.
Eventually, you spotted a small building with several rooms inside. âAre first-year students allowed to be here?â Nayuta asked, giving you a concerned look while holding your hand a bit tighter.
âI think so. Plus, weâre just going to talk to Hinata; itâll only be a minute,â you reassured her with a smile. You started climbing the stairs to the second floor, and Nayuta followed closely behind.
âAre you sure this is the right place?â Nayuta murmured, her eyes scanning the identical doors along the hallway.
Without hesitation, you knocked on the door and called softly, âHinata? Are you in there?â
Immediately, there was a commotion behind the door, and above everything, you heard the voice of the redhead exclaiming, âAh, itâs her!â His words were accompanied by the sounds of things falling and hurried footsteps. It seemed like he was clinging to the shelf, as if preparing for a battle. Tanaka, with disbelief in his tone, chimed in. âWhatâs wrong with you, man? Itâs just Y/N.â
âItâs not Y/N⊠itâs NayutaâŠâ Hinata murmured, unaware that his words were heard on the other side.
Nayutaâs expression hardened, and before you could stop her, she called out firmly, âCome out already, Shoyo! We can hear you perfectly. Stop being a coward.â Her threatening tone hinted that her patience was quickly running out. She was on the verge of completely losing her cool when, instinctively, you covered her mouth with your hand, trying to keep the situation from escalating.
"Eh⊠what Nayuta meant," you let out a nervous laugh, trying to ease the tension, "is that we just want to discuss the science project. It's nothing serious, I promise." You tried to sound as calm and friendly as possible, hoping that would help calm the redhead down.
On the other side of the door, you heard Hinata's desperate mumbling. âKageyama, go out and tell them Iâm not here!â
âNot a chance. If you want to dodge them, do it yourself,â came Kageyamaâs reply, as he put on his sports jacket with a resigned expression.
After a few tense seconds of waiting, the door finally opened, and Hinata shot out like a bolt of lightning, one hand clutching his stomach and his face filled with panic. Before you could react, Nayuta tried to rush after him, clearly intent on making him pay for being late.
âLet me go so I can give him a lesson!â she growled, trying to free herself from your grip. You held her firmly around the waist, doing your best to contain her outburst.
âCome on, Yuyu,â you whispered in a conciliatory tone, though you struggled to hold back a laugh at her determination. âWeâre friends; we have to get along... and love each other, right?â Even though you said it as calmly as you could, the strength Nayuta was putting up made it a challenge to keep her still.
âItâll just be a little smack!â she insisted, her voice full of indignation. Nayutaâs dark hair swung, brushing against your face and partially blocking your vision. Amidst nervous laughter and struggling, you both turned around, and your eyes fell on the partially open door in front of you.
Then, both of you froze.
The sound of laughter and murmurs disappeared as you saw, to your surprise and horror, that the club room was occupied by several of the guys from the team⊠at various stages of changing clothes. Daichi, with his back to you, shirtless and looking incredulous, turned around upon seeing you. Tanaka, equally surprised, was in the middle of pulling up his pants, freezing when he noticed your presence.
Almost instinctively, you covered Nayutaâs eyes while quickly closing your own, taking a few awkward steps back. âSorry!â you managed to exclaim, your voice breaking with nerves and embarrassment. Nayuta, still frozen in place, stopped resisting, and between murmurs and apologies, both of you stepped away from the door with your faces completely flushed.
As you backed away with hurried apologies, you heard the guysâ restrained laughter, along with a âNext time, knock!â said amid chuckles. Finally, you managed to exit the building, exchanging surprised and embarrassed glances that quickly turned into laughter.

You donât have to answer this question if youâre not comfortable, however I saw you discussing a bit about the election. Based on your response I figured you were anti-Trump. I will admit I am right leaning (not extremely but leaning) and I will agree that I am not pro-Trump. However I am also not pro-Kamala. I wanted to know your view on both candidates, pros and cons if youâre comfortable with that! For me I wasnât able to vote this year but I will be able to vote next election (my birthday is after November 5th). But coming from a leaning republican hereâs my pros and cons
Trump cons
-heâs very extreme in republican beliefs
-doesnât support the LGBTQ (I am not apart of the community so I donât know much on this controversy but I have heard from my friends in the community that heâs against it)
-very sensitive about his rallyâs
-his multiple charges against him (though it can be noted that the time the charges came out was during a crucial time in his run for presidency so it could have been a plan to try and make him look bad, Iâm not sure how many allegations actually were proven true or false)
-foreign involvement (he tends to get involved with other nations)
Trump pros
-very good at fixing the economy (when he was president it was one of the few time my family, a middle class family, actually was making excess money, we actually saved up enough to finally buy a home and my dad didnât have to work 2 jobs and my mom worked night shifts to make ends meet. A lot more people got employed under his presidency)
-less foreign conflict (when Trump was president last time there was a lot less rumors of wars and wars going on since Trump was very firm with foreign involvement but we already are in some foreign conflict)
-immigration (I am Mexican, my mother was an illegal immigrant, but I do have to slightly agree that we need stricter boarder control. Iâve heard stories about the Cartels and them chasing people from Mexico and into the US and thatâs terrifying)
Kamala cons
-controversy (Kamala has also had her share of controversy. She had ads about legalizing weed and showed mainly black people in the ad. Also she may be, I canât confirm but Iâve heard it from others, that she is related to a past slave owners. Kamala was also voted in my the Democratic Party and not the people. Biden was the candidate that people wanted for the Democratic Party till he dropped out the. The Democratic Party put Kamala Harris as the new candidate. She had run against Biden to be the candidate before he dropped out and lost so she didnât originally have the peopleâs support. Ect.)
-extremely left (I see being extremely left and extremely right as big problems)
-âmiddle classâ (a lot of Kamalaâs speeches were about helping the middle class yet in her actual speeches the middle class she described was the lower-upper class, not the true middle class)
-economic growth (currently under democratic leadership the economy hasnât been good)
Kamala pros
-sheâs very pro-environment and thatâs a problem that has needed fixing for a while
-she isnât against the LGBTQ
Iâm curious to hear your response since itâs by hearing and talking to others without hate or prejudice that we can expand our own thinking and see things from new perspectives. I always wonder how media can manipulate perception so much, how two people can consume similar media from different sources but form 2 different opinions. I love your works and thanks for reading this!
Sincerely, me, a Mexican-Hawaiian girl
everything you put under trump's pros is completely false and further proof as to why misinformation is such a huge problem so lemme address your points one by one
"very good at fixing the economy"
firstly, when trump reigned it was under obama's economy. this is actually a pretty common thing for new presidents to inherit the economy of the previous administration (obama was president and had bush's economy, trump was president and had obama's economy, and etc.). their job is to either continue building that economy (if it was a good one) or rebuild it if it sucked.
when a president is elected, the economy doesn't just restart to zero and the new guy has to begin a new economy. no, they inherit it from the previous administration and they either inherit successes or deficits and they get to continue building it or destroying it
(the "president" being mentioned is trump btw)
source: here. other sources if you wanna check out: 1
and speaking of economy, here's what things are gonna look like once trump goes back into office with his stupid tariffs idea that people stupidly thought was a GOOD thing:
(also, i love how they CONVENIENTLY decided to publish this AFTER the elections...)
"less foreign conflict"
đđđ
idek HOW you got that info and i'm even more confused as to why you put "foreign involvement" in the cons above that, and yet switched up to say this.... but anyway there are SOOOO MANY sources from articles, interviews, videos, HIS OWN TWEETS, that clearly prove otherwise but here's a nice lil tiktok that managed to compile a good bunch of it:
"immigration"
this part killed me especially since you also mentioned that your mom wasn't here legally BUT i noticed that you said "was" as in past tense, so i'm hoping she somehow found a way to fix that
you want strict immigration control because you heard stories about the cartel chasing people here... but i don't see why you have an issue with that? the cartel is dangerous af, OF COURSE people would want to flee to protect themselves and their families? but you say you want stricter immigration and border control??? are you worried about the cartel coming here or are you saying you think the ones fleeing are dangerous?
kinda confused ^ but regardless, trump doesn't want "stricter" border control for the safety of the people, he just wants you all gone cuz he's racist af and so are his rabid worshippers đ
also, did you forget he had kids in cages, forcefully separated from their families with no way to get back to them and had those kids FORCED TO GO TO COURT? (sources: 1, 2, 3, 4) or the time his insanely strict immigration restrictions caused the amount of drowning migrants to increase (source: 1)
he and his team are working their asses off to get started on their little denaturalization project (forcefully revoking US citizenship) đ
from the loving words of michael davis, trump's chief legal defender:
"We're gonna deport a lot of people, 10 million people and growing - anchor babies [that's YOU anon, since you said your mom was an illegal immigrant], their parents, their grandparents. We're gonna put kids in cages. It's gonna be glorious."
ALSO!!!
for list of cons for trump you forgot to add:
has 34 felonies
is a rapist
incited an insurrection
shrugged off the possible lynching of his vice president (mike pence) during said insurrection
his abortion ban led to the preventable deaths of thousands of women and now that he's back, the numbers will increase
got impeached twice
got thousands killed because of how he didn't even bother to handle the COVID pandemic
also caused a lot of asian americans to be harmed because of his racist comments about them during said pandemic
caused haitian immigrants to be harmed because of his stupid "they're eating the cats! they're eating the dogs!" comments
he's a racist, a rapist, a misogynist, a sexist, a narcissist, a habitual liar, and has no idea on how to actually run a presidency
and many many more
since we're on the topic of misinformation, here's this:
this here shows how powerful misinformation is for the trump administration. a lot of the people who voted for him did it solely to be cruel yes, but there's also some people who just genuinely didn't do ANY research and foolishly voted against everyone's interests including their own
the people who believed the misinformation voted for trump, the people who knew the truth voted for kamala, and some of the misinformation is actually VERY similar to the things you just mentioned
"violent crime rates are at a near all-time highs in most major american cities" FALSE, but trump voters thought it was true
"inflation in the US has declined over the last year and is near historic averages" TRUE, but trump voters thought it was false (this says "last year", implying under biden's rule, so trump voters believe that inflation did not decline under biden's economy when it actually did)
"the US stock market is at or near all-time highs" TRUE, but trump voters thought it was false
"over the last few months, unauthorized border crossings at the US-Mexico border are at or near the lowest level in the last few years" TRUE, but trump voters believed it to be false.

The Chaotic Duo.
A Ronin x Misaki fic
ïž»ăâäžă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»ă»
Misaki was sitting on top of a building. Shotgun by their side, phone in their shaky hands.
<@hitmeupp>: Anyone wants to be my assassination support?
This was yet another time when they send a message like this to the server, they always did that when the target was either too dangerous or they had a very shitty day. This was the former, their clients hired her to kill a CEO of a big filming company who was also entangled with some shady mafia business. The amount of armed men around him was really getting on the poor assassin's nerves, they just wanted an easy kill, is it so much to ask for?
Well while they were cursing their client in their head, they heard a silent DING, someone dmed them!
<@goreboy>: heard you Needed some Support
<@goreboy>: what's up?
Well, that was unexpected.
Ronin usually doesn't text her when she sends a message like that, it's usually Angel who helps them. Maybe she sent Ronin because she's busy? Yeah, that's probably it.
"Dude oh my fucking God, I am dyinggg here. Like seriously, how guarded can a guy be?" They sent him a short voice message, if Angel really sent Ronin to the rescue then he wouldn't be surprised by the voice message, right?
<@goreboy>: heh seems Like the Best assassin in The Whole fucking japan is really Stressing over a small fry
<@goreboy>: who's The target btw?
"Oh shut the fuck up, I can get stressed!- oh shit he almost looked this way... oops" They send the message and then sent another one. "Some guy who worked with the mafia, the money for him is high."
<@goreboy>: damnnn alr Then maybe shoot him Before He sees ya
<@goreboy>: we Don't wanna our Fav assassin dead
They chuckled at his respone.
"Awh stop or you'll make me blush while i'm killing someone." They said jokingly, Ronin could hear them loading their gun in the message.
<@goreboy>: maybe I'd like to See ya All blushy hm?
Misaki didn't see that message until after they left the rooftop, Ronin's message really did make them blush.
<@hitmeupp>: Oh stfu
<@hitmeupp>: He's dead
<@hitmeupp>: Thanks for the help
<@goreboy>: when You need help Call For the devil and He Will help You out
Ronin chuckled after he sent that reply.
Would he really help the assassin the next time they need help? Never say never, he could as well replace Angel and take some of her worries off of her shoulders, right? Also it's important to keep the server's members alive and out of jail.
Misaki in fact did use Ronin's help, texting him directly to help her out and he was there every time. His replies were different from Angel's, well that was to be expected, they are two different people with very different personalities.
Ronin was encouraging them more in the devilish style, he was flirting with them to keep their mind off of the nerves, made jokes about the target and fed Misaki's ego about them being THE assassin.
<@goreboy>: hey Wanna Call?
<@goreboy>: i'm Bored
Misaki was surprised to receive this DM, Ronin wants to talk, and he wants to do this only with them. Weird? Maybe a little. But he could consider Misaki's interest piqued.
<@hitmeupp>: Ofc babes
Immediately after sending that on their screen was a pop up.
@goreboy is calling.
They picked up without a second thought.
Normally Misaki wouldn't show anyone their living arrangements, but only did they know Ronin for two whole years, he also was pretty open about being in possession of their IP address which meant that he knew where and how they live.
"Hey, hey. What does the big devil want from little me?" Misaki asked once the call connected.
"Not much, jus' bored, and you're quite good at amusing me." Ronin replied with a confident smirk glued to his voice.
"Woah, am I your clown now?" They asked with a fake hurt in their voice.
"More like my personal chaos maker." He was obviously flirting with them, and Misaki wasn't going to let him have his fun alone.
"Maybe we could make chaos together then?" They joked, there was no chance for them to do it together in real life, even if Misaki wished that they could meet up... Wait, what?
"About that." Ronin's voice cut through Misaki's thoughts. "I just happened to get my hands on a plane ticket to Tokio, was wondering if you could be my guide." Ronin's words made Misaki's eyes widened.
"What!" They fell from their chair. "Ouch... wait, wait, wait! What do you mean you have a plane ticket? And to Japan?"
"Don't ask so many questions, you don't need to know." Of course Ronin wouldn't answer, he has to be a fucking mystery. A hot mystery who's really helpful...
"Yeah sure whatever, so you want me to be your guide?" They crossed their arms over their chest.
"Who's better to show me around than the best assassin the whole Japan ever saw?"
"Are you seriously feeding my ego just to get me to agree? Wow Ronin... Why does this actually work every time?" They whined. "Of course I will show you around." They smiled.
"Great, I'll be there next week."
"Wait, what-"
Aaand he hang up.
Yeah. very Ronin style.
"He's coming here? Oh fuck! Ronin IS coming here! Oh my god..." Misaki's voice was mix of stress and excitement.
They started to feel something for Ronin a while ago, but they didn't really know if it would work out. But with him showing up so randomly? Maybe it was a sign?
"Oh my god! Why does it make me so fucking excited?" They groaned and fell on their bed, their face buried in a pillow so they could scream their excitement out.
A week had passed without Misaki even noticing it.
They are standing near the airport exit with the most cheesy and cringey welcoming cardboard ever: "Here stands the devil's servant" written in English, with some edgy stickers all around the words.
It didn't take Ronin long to find them and he was barely keeping in his laughter when he approached Misaki.
"Damn, such a warm welcome. Makes me feel like royalty." He said with that cocky smirk of his.
"...Why are you even hotter in person?" Misaki asked bluntly.
"You're not too bad looking yourself, quite on the contrary, you look so much better in person." He said, Misaki didn't know if he was genuine or if it was just the regular teasing, but their poor heart still took the damage.
"Uh um, yeah! We need to get to your hotel!" They changed the subject, which was answered with Ronin's chuckle.
"Sure, lead the way darling."
The assassin couldn't say that their time with The Butcher was boring. It was anything BUT boring.
Not only did they spent some fun time at the local karaoke, ate some amazing food or did other fun activities. Ronin also made sure to do some illegal activities together, going around abandoned buildings, setting trashcans on fire, Misaki watching Ronin kill a guy, or Ronin waiting for Misaki after their assassination.
They had a good time together. And undoubtedly they grew closer. Close enough that Misaki stole Ronin's shirt from his hotel room and he let her do her thing.
"You're drowning in it." Ronin's voice came from behind Misaki who just put the t-shirt on.
"AH!" They yelled and turned around. "Man learn how to walk and make sound please?" They said and glared at him.
"Yeah, yeah. Anyway... You can keep it." He came closer to Misaki. "Suits you." He smirked.
Misaki's face turned red.
"Uh.. um... thanks?" They weren't sure how to interpret his words, but oh lord even without a proper interpretation their heart went crazy.
"Told you, you're my chaos maker." He whispered into their ear. "And we can just bring chaos to the world together."
Was that really the Devil's confession just now?

iâll just write out everything i know/remember about tina and foolish. get ready this is an essay. some of it you may know already. im very serious about them
thereâs been small things for years but the consensus was generally that they were just friends up until earlier this year. when tina did a wine stream with ellum, foolish was in and out of the viewer list and chat until like 4:00 am, as if he was restless. he had a sponsor the next day. it was super unusual behavior for him
like a week later he shows up in LA for literally no reason. thereâs a beef wellington cooking stream where they dance and are cute but its not super relevant. he and tina do their own wine stream, and they have insane tension for most of the latter half of the stream. foolishâs blanket/bed is visible behind him at his LA setup, and it remained unchanged between his stream the day of the wine stream and the day after. he didnât sleep in his bed
he leaves eventually but comes back for tinas birthday. he then goes with tina to new york for a beats sponsor, she doesnt take anyone else and he has no reason to go there other than to support her.
the next time heâs in LA, all of the other roomies have moved out. its just him and tina in their house. heâs essentially there just to keep her company, he comes like 2 weeks before she moves. one stream, tina comes back from emma langevinâs birthday party. foolish rushes to end stream as soon as he finishes a valo game. the next day when he goes live his bed is again exactly the same. when tina goes live, she noticed her pants are on the ground behind her, briefly looks panicked, and says she took them off as soon as she got home to get comfortable. this is the most damning evidence we have imo
he then helps her move, and his LA setup goes into a room in tinaâs new apartment. all of his clothes and shit are at her place. currently heâs back in LA and is staying with her. hes buying a bunch of stuff for his setup and essentially moving in. she makes coffee for him and they watch tv every night. its very surreal to watch
in all this time of people speculating and them acting like a couple, they have never said theyre just friends or not dating. they ignore anyone who asks. theyve even both disagreed with people calling them siblings.
im sorry this took me so long to answer anon but this is amazing i hope u have a wonderful life thank u

the House/TOG crossover of my dreams would be the team infiltrating PPTH to get close to a patient for murder reasons, and trying to distract House from said patient so they can conclude their murder reasons, so Joe gets to lie in a hospital bed for as long as he can convincingly fake more and more insane symptoms/be carefully and lovingly poisoned by Nicky, who's posing as a lab tech. Andy would be clinic patient of the week with an actual minor injury, Nile would be posing as Joe's wife and she'd fool the ducklings but House would get one look at Joe's tiny flicker of a glance at Nicky as he walked by the window of the room and be like, Queer (slur).
Sub plots would include Nicky correcting the ducklings' mistakes while also fucking up their lab results; House absolutely knowing from the third insane symptom that Joe is faking it somehow but being curious enough about why to let him carry on, especially given he doesn't seem to have any longterm ramifications from any of his wild symptoms; Andy out-misanthroping House and House reluctantly respecting the hustle when she then absolutely thrashes him at cards so they both have an excuse to hide out in the clinic together; Nile trying So Hard to break into Cuddy's office only to then find Booker under the desk like, I swear to god I'm not following you all someone just tripped my alert for Joe's favourite alias; and Cameron withdrawing care and support from Joe because she thinks he's cheating on Nile with Nicky because she saw Nicky kiss his hair at 4am when they both thought everyone had gone home
I think chase would just fancy the fuck out of Nicky and not really be aware of much else that's going on, and foreman would be arguing that Joe's symptoms are psychosomatic and they should just send him to psych
These thoughts are brought to you by the sudden vision I had of Joe making the face he makes at Booker when Booker says "more like misery loves company" (Joe: đ) at House while laughing at whatever terrible way House has just insulted not only him but all of his ducklings in one go
#absolutely can't find a screenshot of that smile for love nor money#anyway yes this is unhinged and makes no sense#no i don't care

ok so i was at the worst Its SO Over in a good while, legitimately thinking, sorry gamers i dont think im making it, im talking like. running around at night like a madman in rain, blasting songs from 2016, slowing down to smoke and running back type of feeling. REAL its so over.
so i come back, tearing up, as unsettled as one can get, im calling my friend to say i love you and i just wanted to hear your voice. just so you know. anyway she didnt pick up (god bless shes prolly sleeping no bitterness queen get that sleep) and i was gonna text her something, i was sitting at the balcony, on my phone.
then, the only other person in there, a girl ive spoken once to because she asked for my help in the kitchen, comes, sits across me and tells me "i need to talk to you" so im immediately in Help The Girl mode. she starts telling me shes thinking of leaving the dorms, tells me about the fight she had w her roommates, at first i though she had something Me specific to say but when i questioned she said "i need some guidance and i thought i could talk to you" so probably because im a helpful person -a butch lesbian- and she sensed it. anyway she talks about it all, i give my opinions, she asks for advice, i give advice, she even asked at one point what i thought of her behavior in the fight she had with her roommates, i answered, said she loved the way i speak clearly and purposefully, said she was thankful, somewhere in there we started talking abt school and she asked me if i know this one guy from my major, id probably know him, she didnt want to offend me or anything, veeery reluctantly adding, "hes like a little bit gay" i laughed.
so here i am, having helped a stranger get some worries off her chest at night when she had no one to go to, just like me. holy shit. my pessimistic depressive ass has been taught a lesson of hope and human connection. just like that. all it takes is someone sitting across you and speaking to you.
#mypost#thats how i met my ex too so i was like omfg please dont let this woman ruin my life#but no! she was looking for company and support!#both of which i give away freely#to women!!!!!!#and men too if theyre nice idk

unintended consequence of introducing my mom to reddit in 2019 is that 5 years later she is 10x more of a redditor than anyone i know now, and also has zero concept of the general reputation of reddit among normal people. everybody stares blankly when this woman in her 60s starts talking about this post she saw on reddit. she brings it up CONSTANTLY. like nearly every conversation. i'm like mom please. these people only know reddit as the incel site, if they know what it is at all
#not saying there aren't older people on reddit but like#let's all be real the general demographic of reddit is 30 y/o men and every time i go on the popular tab i'm reminded of this#next to nobody that my mom interacts with in this rural texan town has a clue what she is talking about#but the confidence with which she cites it#at least she isnt into conspiracies#actuall i'll ammend. she is into conspiracies. but she's into mocking them#which on it's own is a little....i've had to tell her to dial back because she's always bringing up whatever stupid thing she saw online#like she is more chronically online than i am when it comes to what stupid maga people believe. because she hates them#and i'm happy she hates them instead of supports them#but i'm also like mom pls you cannot bring up vaccine conspiracies in normal company everyone thinks you are insane#i SEE their looks as she talks but she doesnt đ#it's like people will be having a normal conversation about real world things and she will derail into unhinged chronically online stuff#like mom pls everyone else is happily living normal lives offline you are confusing and scaring them LOL

Yep. Tracy has her head on straight and is smart. She's right about her concerns.
They really are! I swear to god, I wish the show would have Deception losing money and Lucy/Maxie/Brook Lynn minds are boggled, wondering why. Maybe they're discussing it over lunch and cocoa or cider at Bobbie's or something and Joss and Trina overhear and point something out to them. How they and others their age don't feel comfortable buying from Deception considering who they support. Perhaps they suggest Maxie or Brook Lynn or Lucy talk to Lucas or to Brad or even to Aiden. Because it feels like they need it spelled out for them that hiring a homophobic bigot, one who was awful to her own daughter and to Kristina, isn't a good look for any of them or their company.
Kristina and Natalia in a car accident? That is so random (and unnecessary)

mutuals stop posting about the new Deadpool and Wolverine movie. Not because I want to see it or anything because I DONT but because I genuinely hate Marvel Studios and its shitty business practices. Also Marvel as a whole has a character who is an israeli supersoldier like????? And theyâre going to be releasing the film featuring her possibly while this is all still happening.
#anti marvel#anti mcu#never forget that thereâs an israeli supersoldier in marvel canon#âOhhhh Iâll just look over that!â DONT???? FUCKING DONT????#Thereâs straight up a panel where she straight up doesnât recognize a dead arab boy as human????#LIKE HELLOâŠ#And I see some of you marvel fans reblogging fundraisers đ«”#you say you want Palestine to be free yet you support a company who r putting out a movie featuring the character in the middle of this shi#fucking#boycott marvel
