You and Geo had decided...well, you decided — you just had to stubbornly convince him — to go travel places after school. Specifically Japan and possibly parts of Europe.

So when you both finally flew there (on Geo’s private jet of course), it mostly entailed him just taking you to all the fanciest places (because he’s 110% new-money-rich...or old money idk) and just showing you around.

Most people actually don’t side eye you (because you know how some tourists like to assault the Geishas and all that? I don’t blame the Japanese personally), and some are just happy that A. (at least) one of you two speaks the language and knows the culture well; and B. that you (if not of Japanese descent, which I know is most of you readers), are trying to speak their language.

I’m 99% sure Geo has Japanese citizenship, so if –when– you get married, you bet your ass you’re getting one as well (muahahaha)

You both are just going to places he knows are good, mostly in the more urban cities, like Tokyo, until you both decide to visit the more coastal regions.

Geo does not live near the beach, so you’ll have to book out a hotel (this mf will book everything reluctantly lol; he’s not a fan of hotels at all, he probably thinks they’re filthy).

Anyway, after you both just wander around a beach (probs the Ishigaki one idfk), you return to the hotel you guys booked and…well…you get your keys, go to your room and...

One bed.

One single bed (heheheh imagine making your requester suffer couldn’t be me).

And Geo is malding. Very very stoically.

He’s death-staring the bed, a very cold, menacing glint in his ocean eyes.

You’re a bit concerned, because you know Geo isn’t gonna share a bed with you; and annoyed, because now Geo was probably gonna lose his McMarbles™.

So, you both take your stuff and leave to the reception (mostly him stalking out, vehement ornery in the rigidity of his posture).

You stayed behind to watch over your things, in case Geo deemed this place unworthy and dragged you both out.

And, well, that’s exactly what happened.

He came back and proceeded to bluntly state you’re leaving.

“We’re going, they refunded us.”

“Geo what-”

So you both go somewhere else, because, apparently, they didn’t have other rooms to spare with a double bed, then the staff started claiming he hadn’t even paid for it, so he got his money-decked ass (and yours) outta there ASAP.

Anyway, by the time you get to another hotel, Geo states, in Japanese, something that seemed formal, at least it sounded formal, you didn’t know lmfao.

Due to the fact it was getting later in the night, and Geo is a very big fan of beauty sleep, the first thing he does is check the bed.

At least it was a queen sized bed this time.

It takes 27 minutes of pure debate, but you convince Geo to just sleep, because you’re both tired —and you told him people who get stressed get wrinkles and he doesn’t want those lol–.

So he pulls out one of those weird lights that reveal stains on bedsheets and whatnot (you know those janky ones that people use to check if their bed is actually clean or not?). And he’s *very* paranoid about cleanliness. He hates dirt.

Thank God the bed is actually clean, so Geo immediately unpacks the bare necessities and steals the bathroom (dw he already checked it as well it’s clean).

Yeah bro I’m sorry this man won’t let you wash up before him.

He might even be a germaphobe tbh.

Anyway, after his very long, very amazing skincare routine and shower, Geo emerges, his hair loosely falling down his lanky frame (omg omg omg bark bark woof?!?!?!?!!?!?!).

He tells you to hurry up and usurps a side of the bed (probably the one nearest to the restroom so he can freshen up bright and early).

So when you shower and get out of the restroom, he’s telling you to sleep. (also btw, he’s gonna crack all his joints before sleeping, he probably even meditates, so be quiet when you’re in the restroom).

You better make sure to not snore or kick in your sleep though, this man will throw you off the bed if he has to, sleep is superior to relationships for him (such a mood tbh).

But usually when it comes to one bed, he’s gonna take it from you. (He’d have to really like you to share a bed with you in the first place).

If you are the type to get nervous when sleeping in an unfamiliar place though? He’ll “reluctantly” offer his arms and you squish into him. (don’t push it guys I know it’s tempting ngh)

He’ll also be the type to go to a buffet (there is definitely gonna be one, he refuses to go to anyplace that doesn’t have one, especially in the more remote areas of any country).

So expect, when he wakes you up at like 7am, to be served food at a table. He won’t allow eating in bed, both from the fact it’s weird to him and also just…what if you drop some food or something??? He’d get embarrassed on your behalf…

But after that funny time is over, you both continue to traverse Japan, deciding to put that time behind you. Well, Geo does. You 110% are gonna try and sleep in his arms more often now. >:)

Friends called me a Fake Engineer, I bought their dinner.

My daughter 17, asked me to post this here. And Im the Dad who does as the women in my life tell me, which is how I ended up in a restaurant tonight with snobs. So the characters, my wife, wife’s coworker 1 and her husband arrogant engineer 1(AE1), wife’s coworker 2 and her husband my CPA, and Lastly AE2 and his wife. Each couple has two teenage children with us.

We are at a Japanese steakhouse in America where the chefs cook in front of you. CW1 and AE1 invited all of us for their youngest daughter’s birthday. Since their daughter is close with our daughter. So the parents are at one table and the teens at another. At the teen table my daughters (17 and 14) order sushi appetizers, mocktails, and shrimp with scallops. At our table the Sake is flowing along with a few top shelf drinks. My wife and I order our appetizers, drinks and dinners. We are all paying for ourselves and I see AE1 and AE2 seem to in competition for who can spend the most. My CPA and I chuckle at them and stay out of the fray. Until AE2 hears my daughter order and says to her, “careful now your daddy is only and agricultural engineer. He doesnt make as much as us real engineers.” For context they are structural engineers with Bachelor degrees, Im an agricultural engineer with a PHD. I work for governments, private investors, and several agro corporations. I own my own consulting firm. I help build sustainable reusable gardens. And this work allows me to travel to poorer countries and help them use what they have to start growing their own food. Apparently these men thought All I did was travel to impoverished places and teach people to dig in the dirt. They believed I did all this work for free and therefore made very little money. Im not “rich” by any stretch, but Im comfortable. We dont do extravagance, so we have savings and my wife works. However in 2023 I was awarded a handsome contract to design tower gardens in several states. Its a seven figure contract over three years. Back to dinner These guys ask me about the most ridiculous things. Like “is it good to grow onions and carrots in the same garden?” And were laughing at me and my work until their wives told them to stop. I chalk it up to drunken arrogance and dont even bother to answer. My CPA was laughing so hard he almost fell out of his chair. Apparently, he is AE1’s CPA as well. And knows the ins and outs of both our finances. AE1 taunts CPA to tell the table what he brought home last year after bonuses. CPA pulled up the figures on the phone and tells us. Its about 1/3 of what I brought home in 2023. The CPA says “I have yours up want me to share?” I decline. And he nods. Que another round of taunts. I go to the restroom and find the waiter. I pay for the whole check and leave a generous tip on top of what they added for a big party. After our sobert the waiter thanks me in front of everyone for the tip and wishes everyone a good night. AE1 and AE2 stare at me for a moment. I smile nod and tell CPA to tell them my income last year. After which I simply said goodnight. Petty absolutely, gratifying damn right.

Daniel Law thoughts and observations. Why is his last name so bloody difficult to figure out?

This is a quick and frivolous post as opposed to my normally long form ones. I’ve got it hard for Daniel at the moment; I’m wade through the vast expanse that is the internet looking for merch for him. Steven merch is like shooting fish in a barrel with how popular he is. K.K. merch is also easy and super cheap second hand. But Daniel merch. Hoooo boy, it takes some time and effort to find.

The first issue around him is his bloody last name. Which Japanese isn’t equipped to deal with. This shows in my merch quest as I’ve scrolled through pages and pages of items. But first:

The Darkhorse translation calls him Daniel Low.

The Funimation translation settles on Daniel Law.

When you listen to the sub and the dub, both the Japanese VA and English VA both clearly say “Law”. I’d like to also note that the Japanese VA for Steven, Mitsuru Miyamoto, has really good pronunciation for all of the English terms/names he says specifically which makes me really think “Law” is the intended spelling. The credits also reflect this.

Both versions also settle on the title of Lieutenant. While the literal translation is Assistant Inspector (keibuho - 警部補). I’m not sure why they didn’t go with Detective which sounds like the most American term and Inspector being British. I guess Detective is a role while, Daniel would still have a police rank associated with him. But I know squat about American policing terms and job titles. Maybe, I should go back and watch some Law and Order and cringe?

Where is this total weirdness around Daniel’s name coming from? Especially if we get a season three and Marcus also shows up for the Calamity Auction arc.

Now, we all know that having an equal transfer of Law into Japanese can’t happen since there is no way to make say a “La-wa” etc. The best you can get is to drop down in the r-line to the “ro” combo. But then you’ve got that pesky “w” you need to do something with.

If you wanted “Low” this would be the easiest way to get it. Go with “ro” and add the long vowel dash making it “ro-oh”

But we can see this reading of “ro” with a long “o” can be [sighs] Rho, Lau; Low, Loo, Rau, Raux, Roe or Roh.

Okay, this isn’t what happens in the credits. The Japanese credits write his name out this way. “ro” with the “u”. Now, the first hit is “Law”. Yay!

But then we get also; Loew, Low, Lowe or even Rowe! Argh!

So, how does this tie into merch? Well, how his name is spelled on KKSS merch of course and how to search for it!

For Back 2 Back full color acrylics that were Jump (Festa Specials I’d guess), we get him and Marcus being referred to as Lowe. ‘Cause they are twin brothers and Daniel is the older one! Another issue with Japanese language mechanics versus English but that’s for another time. I’d read Daniel to be several years older since he’s referred to as “older brother” in B2B but since you have to place your sibling in age relative to you - Marcus has to say older brother in the original Japanese.

There is also a small special badge set with Steven and Daniel here, where he is also referred to as “Lowe”. Did I impulsively buy this? Yes, yes I did of course!

Yet when we look at other items music/band themed (acoustic guitar) , the American heroes (fighter pilot? why?), ice skating, saloon barkeep/western. he’s got a last name of “Low”.

You might begin to think - okay, it is clear that 1.) there is no official spelling of his name down on paper. 2.) merch designers see ロウ and make an educated guess 3.) his name can’t be “Law”.

Buuutttt let’s go to the actual search function of a Japanese site like Goods Republic. And what do we find in the character list on the left hand side? Daniel Law.

Additionally, you go on Zen Market and access JP Mercari directly, searching with the terms of ダニエル and 血界戦線. You will get merch that not only pulls up Daniel but all the translated descriptions will always refer to him as Daniel Law.

What have I learned from this? That until we get season three and Daniel gets a floating info box like below, we will never truly know how his name is spelled. However, with the sense of humor that Nightow has and his wordplay in English, I really still think the original intent is “Law” because he’s a fucking cop. Come on, easiest cheese joke ever.

And if he doesn’t get a floating info box in a season three, it means they aren’t giving him full justice due to his increasing role in the series.

oh hey ive been meaning to ask is there an easy or preferred way to get into kamitsubaki lore esp for vwp. ive tried to skim the website like 3 separate times & only picked up the very very basics

ok so the problem with kamitsubaki lore is that literally like Most of it that is direct and not just implied thru music videos/twitter posts happened in a fuckign ARG that is... kind of lost media kind of not. the kamitsubaki city ARG took place on a website where players were given new... riddles and tasks called Qs every day for the month of october in 2021 and that website is now inaccessible but people i know archived and translated all the content they could so it's still viewable in some fashion. a couple of my friends practically singlehandedly edit the kamitsubaki fandom wiki and you can find all the "story fragments" (cutscenes from the ARG with direct story) translated here (oh and there's also lost media from before the ARG from kaf's old fanbox page that is now inactive/lost media... i have all of the images from that but they aren't all typeset yet so i'd have to get back to you on that one. it's dubious whether all that stuff is still canon anyways, a lot of it seemed conceptual before kamicity was properly outlined. one day i'll compile all this shit somewhere for everyone to have easy access since the wiki is kinda eh for it)

when you said "skim the website" i assume you're talking about the website for the narrative TTRPG stuff? perhaps? sorry kamitsubaki has websites all over the place it's kind of a disaster. i can't give too much information on this one honestly, my japanese isn't good enough and i'm a little bit behind, but afaik other than the tutorial after you sign up which walks you through a scenario with one of the girls as TTRPG practice, the rest is just... TTRPG stuff. like you making up stories with other players within the setting and whatnot. you'd have to browse through it. (eventually there's going to be some sort of small video game related to all of this. exciting. who knows when that'll happen)

there is also some stuff to do with the cr/ypto project that's loosely correlated with kamitsubaki city i guess but not really you can ignore that. and i would ignore it. i do

otherwise it's kind of like vocaloid song series where the VWP music videos contain hints to lore/metaphorically show what's happening. occasionally art is posted to the hashtag # STORY_VWP on twitter too which contains art correlated with the actual story of kamicity.

if you want my basic breakdown and understanding, tldr the girls r summoned from elsewhere by a mysterious organization called the Restoration Foundation to use magic singing powers to restore life to a city, but the city is doomed to end in apocalypse from fishlike creatures called Tessaracters every single time and they're like. in a time loop with varying amounts of memory retrieval trying to save kamitsubaki city and go home. there seems to be a lot of significance with what clothes the girls are wearing in different media and etc etc

Sorry i'm sleepy and this is probably too long and also a mess. the reason it's a mess though is because VWP lore is a mess and that's part of the fun for me. if you have more specific questions about specific parts i probably can help with an answer though! i'm not as into it as some other people but the lore is still fun to theorize on and i like seeing symbolism in the music videos.

this isn't even touching on like. how there's the kaf membership manga canon which is just an official comic where vwp is in high school together. or otogibanashi which was a series of... spoken skits? that kaf put on at her concerts for a while and has yet to be concluded and is a completely different universe from the rest of the vwp lore. Truly an enigma

It’s been a while... But I’m back! Let’s talk GP assignments

Pairs:

Yikes, this is a very dire state, if we will see more than one team breaks 75 and 140 I will be SHOCKED. The amount of TBDs is also staggering...

That being said, we still get one Japanese, 2 Canadians, 2 Italians, and one American teams with a lot of potential. But please god, make them all stop using emo pop songs.

Men:

I had a moment of panic when I couldn't find Shoma on the list, but gladly he is there. Jason however is not (boo). Happy to see Yuma back and there a lot of great names on the list. Canada is really in a bad place when not one man got 2 assignments from what I see and they all go only to two GP assignments (yikes). It’s funny how in almost every GP you can mostly see who is in a good position to win it, but everything else can go wild because men will men.

Women:

Another example of the dire state of Canadian skating, only three women with assignments and only one of them with two assignments, this is bad. So happy to see Wakaba back on the list, and overall great names from Japan and Korea.

Also worth noting that in all 3 disciplines we are not really seeing more than 1-2 up and coming juniors, which I find kind of unfortunate.

Dance:

Unsurprisingly the discipline I find most interesting. Most worthy notes:

We really are stuck with G/P, C/B, and G/F for another year. What will it take for at least one of these teams to clear out ffs?

Welcome back HAwayek/Baker

Lajoie/Lagha vs. Green/Parsons in both GP assignments feels intentional and like the powers at be are setting up the next big rivalry. I don’t like it.

CPom up against Zinga/Kolesnik in a GP is also quite the challenge and I think intentional from USFS.

Juniors debuts: Mrazeks with 2 assignments, Lim/Quan with 2 assignments, B/B with just one. Suepr sad not to see the junior Brits here (love them) and hope at least on of the TBDs will go to them.

Canadian federation backing Fabbri/Ayer (understandable) and Langhan/Razgulajevs (infuriating) but not supporting Hensen/Lickers which very much annoys me.

US dance field remains crowded with 9 (!!!!) different teams on the GP circuit: C/B, H/B, G/P(2), CPom, Z/K, Browns, P/B, M/A. B/S. The only other country to come close is Canada with 7 teams: G/P, Candanes, L/L, F/A, B/B, L/LG, L/R.

I have to admit I felt emotionally disconnected from skating since WTT and in most way it still feels that way. I hope things will start getting more exciting soon and we will get some (good) programs announcements. Either way, bring it on.

Being tired all the time

Mid to late October

Yesterday, I went to my middle school in the afternoon because of a schedule change, usually I'm there all day. The teacher that I work with told me about the conferences going on for the third years. The school system here is different from the states in that kids work really hard to get into good high schools as opposed to us working hard in high school to get into good colleges. The kids have to meet with the teachers and their parents and talk about what school they want to go to, and the exams they will have to take. The third years are US ninth graders. Their high school is only 3 years. I felt unqualified to choose my university at 18, so I can't imagine having to choose a high school at 14/15 especially because the high school chosen will affect the colleges one can get into. The teacher has to go to all of these meetings back to back and they happen like once a month ish from now until they apply (I'm not sure of the whole timeline). He was like “this is why teachers are always dead during the fall”. And I'd agree. I have never seen that teacher not extremely busy.

I try to remind myself that this is supposed to be fun. Despite being here to work, my work isnt particularly difficult and I ought to be having fun. More fun? I'm not sure. Considering I have set hours of about 8-4 during the week, it is difficult for me to do much. Though, today is Monday and I am going grocery shopping after work and I'm excited to pick out desserts. Last time I got these waffle pastry cookie things? They're waffles but encrusted in sugar but they're not overly sweet. I love them. I'll also be getting tricolor dango. Anyway, I want to do more stuff over the weekend. But I'm so tired on the weekends that I often don't do that much. It can be difficult to plan things because some information is not accessible to me (websites will be not updated, hard to understand, all in Japanese, etc). Or the events hosted by the Chiba AJET (chiba prefecture jet association) group are so far from me it becomes an all day event and then some.

Even trying to convince myself to do solo traveling is difficult because I don't think that's my preferred method of traveling. Despite being in a beautiful, new place I am the same person and I have to relax my expectations of how I should be spending my time. Just yesterday, I went to a cafe in the middle of nowhere with a lady from the English circle club in my town. She is very sweet and has lived in California on and off for years, so she speaks great English. The cafe was someone's house but also not? It had a homey feeling, eccentric decorations, and the people there all knew each other. There were also 2 cats that were so cute and friendly. I hadn't seen animals in a while so this was big for me. I got curry rice for 600 yen and it had so many vegetables and beans in it and my friend told me everything was fresh from their farm or garden. I think the cafe was open late for a small event because of the full moon yesterday. My point is that I didn't know I would be going to this place until the morning of when she invited me. I hate doing things spontaneously because it makes my brain anxious and nonfunctional. I agreed despite not wanting to go in the moment because I knew it would be a fun experience regardless. I wonder if pushing myself to do things alone would have the same effect. In the same vein, I could also just let myself enjoy my solitary hobbies in peace.

Innocence lost the dark side of Akihabara

Pedophiles claim drawn childporn (lolicon) decreases sexualization of real children, but if that were true, why is Japan one of the only countries in the world where junior idol culture and DVD’s containing the sexualization of real children are legal? Obviously, lolicon only increases the sexualization of real children.

The crowd in the Ishimaru Soft event space in Akihabara sits anxiously awaiting the arrival of an idol, whose most recent DVD they purchased for the right to meet her. Led on by the MC, the 50 or so middle-aged men call out in unison: “Mana-chan!” After two more calls, she appears—a girl of 13, looking dazed and sheepish. As the cameras zoom in, she strips down to her bikini, which drapes on her under-developed form.

Mana is a “low teen” pursuing a career as a model. As abhorrent as it may sound, children as young as 2 who are billed as “junior idols” release photo books and DVDs. Insofar as the models do not expose their breasts or genitals, this is not against the law. But the way scantily clad kids blow on flutes and lick ice cream cones in front of the camera has raised eyebrows at home and abroad.

The idol industry in Japan in general is estimated at 60 billion yen annually, and junior idols shift some 3 million photo books and DVDs per year. There are countless websites (such as Pure Little Sister Club) and a syndicated magazine (Moecco) catering to fans.

This trend began in the ’90s, when columnist Akio Nakamori coined the term "chidol," or child idol, to describe the sudden increase of young models. The neologism fell out of favor and was replaced by “junior idol,” which shifts the emphasis from childhood and links the phenomenon with legitimate up-and-coming idols.

In Akihabara, long known for its stock of lolicon (Lolita Complex) and “little sister” movies and magazines, the number of shops advertising idol DVDs marked U-15 (under-15) has quietly increased.

“This is a gray area in Japan, but the residents of Akihabara and I find it reprehensible,” says Takaya Kobayashi, 54, a Chiyoda Ward councilman.

But at places such as Oimoya, located right on Akihabara’s main street of Chuo Dori, fans crowd around merchandise displays featuring underage girls.

“Looking at junior idols soothes me,” explains Shigure Akagi, 45, an artist who says he draws inspiration from these products. “I do not have children of my own, so seeing them makes me happy.”

He isn’t the only one. Mr, the most eccentric member of Takashi Murakami’s stable of pop artists, admits he suffers from lolicon, and recruited junior idols to star in his 2008 film, "Nobody Dies."

Ostensibly, the parents who sign their daughters to be junior idols are hoping they achieve mainstream fame like Mr’s girls. And it isn’t impossible. Saaya Irie, for example, was cast in "Hell Girl" and other TV programs after her stint as a child model.

Legally, this is a dark shade of gray. A 1999 Japanese law bans children in depictions of sex, genital touching and “arousing” nudity, but junior idols manage to skirt these issues. In 2002, Japan signed the U.N.’s Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, which bans “any representation, by whatever means, of real or simulated explicit sexual activities or any representation of the sexual parts of a child for primarily sexual purposes.” Defenders say images of junior idols are not for “primarily” sexual purposes. Indeed, scenes in these DVDs can be as harmless as family travel videos. Just not always.

This may be gray, but people overseas are seeing red. In April 2008, UNICEF distributed a petition with 21,000 signatures asking Japan to curb junior idols and lolicon anime. In November, at an international meeting in Brazil, Japan was condemned as “The Nation of Child Porn.” Japan and Russia, the organizers say, are the only G8 nations that have not taken action against child exploitation.

Can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from Code Geass? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series?

of course ^^ thank you for sharing the interest with me. ill put my rambling below:

first things first, i am omitting lelouch and suzaku because i think it is too easy. the show wouldnt be what it is without them.

i dont know if i can tier these characters (since i would have to give it much more thought than im willing to put into currently) but here we go:

kallen - kallen is the only character with an actual backbone and moral compass on this entire show. interestingly enough, i dont think shes written as well as she should be. the episode about her and her mother was one of the episodes that hit the hardest during my initial watch through. i also really like the scene where she stops lelouch from taking a hit of refrain as well as when she kisses him goodbye during the un conference. she is a mixed person that chooses to side with the side of liberation versus the side of comfort, and that was something she was always doing. she would always be japanese, she would always fight for her people and for what is right. she is easily the most honorable character of them all.

c.c. - c.c. is one, if not the, most interesting immortal character i have ever seen. what attracts me the most to her is the fact that she is Not a Good Person. her life has been full of strife from before she got her code and afterwards. she's the reason mao's existence is as fucked up as it is. the whole time shes lelouchs accomplice, she knows that marianne is alive and what her (& charles') plan was for the world. its thanks to lelouch that she remembers how to be human again. shes hypocritical. shes wise but also immature. she damned lelouch by giving him a geass but she still grieves him at the end. hell, one of the final shots of her during zero requiem was her praying in a church, the same place where she was betrayed. its still obviously a place of comfort to some level--which, i think is incredibly symbolic for her character. shes cryptic and hard to understand (both on purpose and not). shes sad. lonely. self sufficient. despite her long years, she is still human.

shirley - shirley represents love (not romantic love specifically, but all kinds of love) in code geass. going from her crush on lelouch, to losing her father, to learning lelouch is zero, to SAVING him from being captured--then following up after she regains her memories and how despite everything, she still wants to be by lelouch's side because she realizes that he is alone. she tells suzaku that she loves lelouch when suzaku uses past tense. she tells him that shes forgiven lelouch--which is Much easier said than done on shirley's end vs suzaku's end, but i digress. she is then murdered because of rolo's own twisted love. shes' an interesting point of view into the story because shes very much a civilian in comparison to the other major characters. there are a lot of shots of everyday people throughout cg, but shirley being a main character in this sense puts her up there for me, though id argue that shes more of a writing device versus an actual character, too.

v.v. - (smt3 hell rider voice) here we go. the person reading this might be thinking--huh? v.v.? and yes, i say. my interest in v.v. comes more from things that were implied more than they were shown, as most of said things are recalled by other characters. like Every character i am interested in, he is a hypocrite. he is as conniving as his brother, their wish being one of truth while they were surrounded by lies. they would always have each other. but then came marianne, the lady knight, the flash. neither charles nor v.v. couldve ever predicted her, nor how much she changed charles--regardless if that is true or not. what really intrigues me is that it was implied that v.v. also loved marianne. v.v., an immortal stuck in a childs body, their only true tether to the world (his brother) and the part of the world he must have desired the most (marianne). i actually am planning to write a fic about this premise because it interests me so deeply. dont hold your breath for it tho, haha.

ive been working on this for longer than id like to admit so ill just do a little rapid round for other characters i really like.

truthfully i think every character is very complex in their own way, especially by the end of code geass. im not a fan of nina, but the final scene with her and emperor lelouch before they use the anti-fleija spear (lance of longinus, cough) is another moment i really like.

ok linklike propaganda (disorganised infodump) time!

Link! Like! Love Live! is a gacha game that covers the 5th generation of the Love Live! series: Hasunosora Jogakuin School Idol Club. I should clarify two things from the get-go. 1. This game only has a JP server, so if you want to play it you'll have to get it off the Japanese app store, and 2. It's not a rhythm game even though that's probably what people expect from LL. It's primarily a card collector and strategy game, and the app also serves as a host for Hasu's livestreamed content, and their unit story (Hasu doesn't have an anime. yet).

More about hasu itself. So the group has 9 members which I've already listed above. The unit focuses on livestreaming content, which is essentially done like vtubing, but with the seiyuu in-character as the girls, and streams are hosted regularly in-game, though they get uploaded to youtube later. They also do streamed concerts, which function very similarly to project sekai's connect lives, only they're completely free of charge, and get uploaded on youtube later. And the 3D isn't nearly as good but who cares atp. Also side note, their stories that I mentioned earlier are also animated in 3D using the same models, but they're not live mocapped so it's a bit smoother. They also do regular in-person lives with the seiyuu as with all the love live units, you can find them reuploaded on bilibili.

Another notable thing about hasu is that the unit focuses on subunit content. You know how VBS splits into Vivids and Bad Dogs for cover songs? LL has always had subunits that release their own music separately from the main group and have their own genres. Most of hasu's discography comes in the form of subunits, and there's an in-universe reason for this (it's the same reason as VBS has subunits lol: friendly rivalry). The subunits are:

Cerise Bouquet (Kaho/Kozue/Ginko): A legacy unit at hasunosora. They're the "pure" unit (it's a whole thing don't worry about it) and their music style is about what you'd expect from that. It's elegant and soft, though they have some more pop-style idol songs too. (Recs: Dear my future, Holiday∞Holiday, Fortune Movie)

DOLLCHESTRA (Sayaka/Tsuzuri/Kosuzu): They allegedly have a marionette theme but it's only present in like one song. They're the "cool" unit. Their music is modern and has a mature feel. They feel very vocaloid idk how to describe it. (Recs: AWOKE, Sparkly Spot, Mirage Voyage, Tragic Drops, KNOT) (fav hasu unit....)

Mira-Cra Park! (Rurino/Megumi/Hime): They take a while to show up in the story but it's plot relevant. They're the "smile" unit. Their music is very fun and their songs are about the most random shit. A lot of their songs have a sort of chiptune style too. (Recs: Do! Do! Do!, Kokon Touzai, BANG YOU Gravity)

OKAY BIG ONES I SHOULD'VE MENTIONED EARLIER.

1. if you're put off by the game due to it not being available in english but are still interested there are fan translations of the story available on youtube. Chapters 1-10 are here and onwards from that are here. (HELLO STAFF OFFICIALLY UPLOADED ENG TLS OF CHAPTERS 1-3 WHILE I WAS WRITING THIS POST. ONE TWO THREE)

2. The hasu story takes place in REAL TIME. Whatever day it is today is the day in-universe for hasunosora. Yes this means the members graduate. This April was just a side character and we got 3 new 1st year members (Ginko/Kosuzu/Hime) but next April we will be seeing the 3rd years graduate. The whole idea is that you get to see the idols grow with you. This is also the only LL generation with an official time setting (though you can roughly date the others based on technology).

3. This is the first LL gen to do cover songs!!! They do a lot of vocaloid, but some other stuff too, as well as covers of other love live songs. Since this post is mainly targeted at the proseka fans following me, we have Villain, Happy Synthesiser, 1 2 Fanclub, Dance Robot Dance, Lost One's Weeping, Viva Happy, Kyoufuu All Back, Kokoroyohou, and... Ifuudoudou. We don't talk about that one.

Also NayutalieN did an original song for Mira-cra Park! one time. It was really random and has never happened again.

Also we get 2DMVs (they're called lyric videos but it's the same thing). This generation very much feels like it exists to appeal to the boom in vocaloid culture that proseka sparked (and also vtubing).

Hasu has a very small eng fanbase. I kinda just am doing this so people read the linklike story which in theory will make the the kozukaho tags on here and ao3 less dead.

Oh yeah i forgor to talk about gameplay. Just go full auto until you get to lvl60 lives. Playing lives gets you sisca, sisca lets you gacha. Endless cycle. Attend streams (or archives) and send gifts to level up your character rank (called fan level)

Oh yeah we have epic yuri but this is love live we take idol yuri seriously here

103rd cohort (currently 2nd year)

Kaho was sick easily and often as a kid, so her parents are very overprotective of her. She enrolled in Hasunosora (a boarding school) to allow herself to "bloom", but did literally zero research into the school and then discovers that it's actually really strict. She's not exactly one to think things through. She initially joins the club as its manager following an encounter with Kozue but later joins the club as a member of Cerise Bouquet. Love Live-typical genki orange leader except she's not the leader and just the face of Hasu.

Sayaka Murano

CV: Kokona Nonaka (Nassu-chan)

103rd cohort (currently 2nd year)

Sayaka is a figure skater as well as a school idol, though she was told that she wasn't expressive enough and was struggling to improve. She joined the school idol club almost immediately after starting at Hasunosora to try and remedy this. She's one of the most responsible ones in the group, and often speak in a very formal way (though she worries that this will bother people). She also acts as Tsuzuri's caretaker in some ways, and they have a gay situationship thing going on. She also loves bento boxes.

Kozue Otomune

CV: Nina Hanamiya (Uichan)

102nd cohort (currently 3rd year)

A lot of people said Kozue seemed really similar to Mafuyu when her bio was first revealed, without the depression. I thought so too. Uh, I mean she has some traits? She's the president of the school idol club and she's very set on being an idol and winning Love Live (in-universe idol contest). She grew up in a musical family, and they initially did not approve of her being a school idol, since they didn't consider it to be "real music". However she was able to convince them to accept it and that's the beginning and end of the Mafuyu comparison. She's a perfectionist, and especially hard on herself. She's also a very formal and proper young lady, and isn't good with technology. Something happened between her and Tsuzuri and Megumi in the previous school year, but for the sake of spoilers I won't elaborate.

Tsuzuri Yugiri

CV: Kotoko Sasaki (Kocchan)

102nd cohort (currently 3rd year)

My fave. Autism. She's a prodigy at performing and incredibly popular as a school idol but she doesn't entirely get why people think she's so good. She struggles to communicate with others, and often uses odd phrases or methods to communicate her feelings and ideas. She also has a tendency to be incredibly honest/has no filter and isn't great with social norms. Sayaka is the only one who can completely understand her. She has a very strong (gay) attachment to Sayaka, much like Shiki and Mei. Honestly she deserves the LL lesbian jesus #5 title but literally everything Kozue says about Kaho is ridiculously gay. I haven't made it that far through the story yet though so titles may be negotiated.

Rurino Osawa

CV: Kanna Kan (Kankan)

103rd cohort (currently 2nd year)

I haven't read far enough in the story to tell you much about the next 5 characters orz but i'll do my best, even if my best is regurgitating information i read on fandom wikia and tvtropes. Rurino is childhood friends with Megumi and is very close with her. She lived in California for a bit prior to the story and then comes back to Japan and enters Hasunosora partway through the first year. She's pretty energetic and loves having fun, but has a pretty short social battery and has to take time to recharge. Because of that, she likes spending time alone doing more introvert-friendly activities, such as fishing.

Megumi Fujishima

CV: Kona Tsukine (Konachi)

102nd cohort (currently 3rd year)

She was in showbiz and on TV from a young age, and currently is a livestreamer with a large following. She's kinda similar to Kasumi from nijigasaki. She's very cute and has a focus on being that way, especially on her streams. She's got ego. She also hates studying and has bad grades, mainly because she finds it boring and doesn't like doing things she doesn't enjoy. She aims to be a cool and responsible person for Ruri to look up to, and hides her insecurities behind that persona.

Ginko Momose

CV: Hina Sakurai (Hiichan)

104th cohort (currently 1st year)

Okay for real this time I know very little about the 104 girls. She comes from a traditional family, kinda like Shioriko from nijigasaki (they're kinda similar). Her grandmother was a hasunosora student a long time ago. Her grandma was in the performing arts club, which since became the school idol club, which is why Ginko wants to join the club.

Kosuzu Kachimachi

CV: Fuka Hayama (Fuuchan)

104th cohort (currently 1st year)

The youngest from a very large family. She doesn't think there's anything she's particularly good at, and can be very self deprecating, especially with two naturally talented people filling the other spots in dollche. She's often trying new things because she wants to find something she can do. She also has a dinosaur motif thing going on.

Hime Anyoji

CV: Rin Kurusu (Rinchan)

104th cohort (currently 1st year)

My other hasu fave besides KozuTsuzu. Would probably be my best best girl if it weren't for the fact I have been in LL hell for 4 years. ANYWAY. She's a pro esports gamer. She particularly likes FPS games and has won multiple championships, and part of the reason she joins the club is to spread her love of her favourite games. She's also a massive mirapa fan before she gets to join the unit. She was raised mainly by her older sister (we don't know why her parents aren't in the picture), who is the one who got her into gaming. She is very passionate about her interests and gets very excited and starts talking really quickly when telling people about them.

I guess most people would want to talk about the best movies they watched in the past year, but I thought this would be a more fun way of ending 2022. Let me give you some links to other lists before I get started, in case you are into this and just cannot get enough. Well, allow me to be of service.

Eyes of Fire : Back in old timey pioneer days, a group of people get cast out from their community because their preacher is a sex fiend. So they find their own place. That is full of evil fae magic and ghosts and stuff, and things get wonderfully weird.

Highway To Hell : It’s Orpheus but full of puns and dumb jokes and incredible special effects. My favorite bit is about the road to hell being paved with good intentions. Also, Adam Storke is in this... You know, Larry from the 90s Stand miniseries. That guy. He’s great here.

Shallow Ground : Ghosts. But so so so much cooler than just that. I don’t want to say too much. This one is all about the reveal. This teenager shows up naked and covered in blood, and everyone goes what the hell happened to him? And shit gets STRANGE.

Nightflyers : Adaptation of a George R.R. Martin short story that really needs a blu-ray release, like, yesterday. Beautifully 80s SF horror film full of weird, futuristic bullshit that I can’t get enough of.

Beyond Dream's Door : What if A Nightmare On Elm Street were made on $3 and a ton of LSD? Take this trip, no pun intended.

Night Vision : A guy that literally just fell off the turnip truck decides to be a writer in in THE BIG CITY. Which supernaturally chews him up and spits him back out. A cool, low budget time.

The Murder Mansion : Giallo! Two rather attractive people meet, fall in love instantly, and then get trapped in a murder mansion. That’s all you need for a giallo masterpiece really.

Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell : An alien invasion that goes super hard. A plane crashes due to alien interference, and the survivors are faced with just... the scariest alien invasion of all time. This movie fucks.

Island of Terror : Lil goo monster that kills you the moment it touches you. It feels like they were trying to do a Lovecraft thing, and it’s quaint and British with Peter Cushing.

The Majorettes : One of those late 80s slashers that just keeps on giving. The first fifteen minutes were hilarious enough, and then the third act happens. There’s a siege? On a trailer park? In my slasher?

Sometimes They Come Back... Again : Alexis Arquette (RIP) gives the performance of a lifetime as an undead thug who will fuck your daughter and your dad. Watch it for her.

Sweet Home : Nothing is quite like a Japanese ghost story. This one throws some slasher tropes in there, too, with very over-the-top kills. Then it lands the dismount. Give me a blu-ray now please.

Creature : Alien rip-off! Now hear me out. I am a sucker for those, but this is probably the best one in existence. Watch The Titan Find cut, as it’s the director’s preferred version, and I think it slaps.

Candy Corn : Why isn’t this a Halloween classic? It’s like Trick r Treat meets Dark Night of the Scarecrow. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, that’s an incredibly good thing. Also, the kills are brutal.

Auntie Lee's Meat Pies : Auntie Lee has lots of BEAUTIFUL nieces who attract dumb men that she puts into delicious meat pies. Good for her, right? Some rockers in bad wigs show up and... predictably become pies.

Skinned Deep : If Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 had no limiters on. If they were ALL off. All of them. I mean, just all of them. Warwick Davis is having the time of his life here. And Surgeon General’s mask is made out of what you ask? Boyfriend material.

Werewolves on Wheels : A biker gang stumbles across a cult having a ritual. This makes them become werewolves. And that’s awesome.

Distortions : Olivia Hussey and Piper Laurie attempt to out act one another while both going completely out of their minds. Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.

Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge : When you’re such a simp for The Phantom you’ll watch a hunky version kick ass underground in a mall. Also, it’s a good slasher. With Pauly Shore being... actually a fun character.

The Marsh : A children’s book writer moves to the country to rest and get inspired. Then ghost shit starts happening. Trust me, this movie goes around some bends I didn’t expect, and it’s really worth taking the ride. We love a good ghost mystery in this house.

Dead and Buried : The story kicks off with a photographer getting set on fire at the beach by an angry mob. And it doesn’t get less weird. Definitely more weird. It blew my mind, and I didn’t think that was possible after all I’ve seen. With Robert Englund before he was Freddy.

Clearcut : Native American horror. This one is all about Graham Greene playing Arthur, a gleefully violent fellow with a lot of secrets. I kept thinking of Severen in Near Dark. The performance is that good, yes.

Satan's Triangle : Made for TV movie about the Bermuda Triangle. But also the devil. With an ending that I’ll never stop thinking about.

Night Shadow : A werewolf movie! Where the werewolf and some lady have a psychic connection. I think. I mean, I guess. And her brother knows kung-fu, but doesn’t use it to fight the werewolf. Some bad choices were made, but ultimately it’s a good-bad time.

Tales from the QuadeaD Zone : From the maker of Black Devil Doll From Hell comes... this! A horror blaxploitation anthology that really... It really is real. Also, what’s a QuadeaD? Dunno. And that’s not a typo. That’s how it’s spelled. Watch this. You’ll thank me. Or hunt me down, not sure which.

Alien Predators : A horror comedy that is heavy on the goofball antics and low on the scares. But damn if those antics aren’t cuter because it’s Dennis Christopher partaking in them!

Too Beautiful To Die : A late 80s giallo full of fucked up shit, a crazy murder weapon, and giallo’s favorite victim: fashion models. And I need to say 80s one more time to emphasize the true magic of this film. Okay, one more time: 80s!

All-American Murder : Christopher Walken. Ahem. Oh, you needed me to say something else? Well, murders. And lots of silly, silly, silly dialogue. And Walken gets to say a lot of it, too.

The Killer Is Still Among Us : Another giallo. This one is all about the ending. I find a lack of resolution to be one of the scariest thing a horror film can do. Very effective.

Slime City : A man has to eat people to keep from melting. It’s a tale as old as time. He goes full goblin mode by the end. Good old-fashioned melt movie.

Flesheater : Directed by the guy who played the first zombie in Night of the Living Dead. The cemetery one. Not sure why that made him qualified to direct a film, and when you watch it, you’ll see that it didn’t. But that’s why it’s good. Because it’s amazingly bad. Also, directed The Majorettes from up there, if that’s any indication of what you’re getting into.

All About Evil : Directed by Peaches Christ, this is an absolute love letter to horror cinema. Right down to the very theaters the movies play in. Cassandra Peterson stares at an Elvira poster. It’s that kind of movie.

I, Madman : There need to be more movies like this. About the power of stories to come alive. One minute you’re reading a book. The next minute, the book is happening to you. Stars Jenny Wright, who deserved a better career.

Grotesque : Linda Blair versus a gang of punks. Oh, excuse me. Punkers. That was one of my favorite parts, that they insisted on calling them punkers. Home invasion that goes completely WTF by the end. WTF endings are a theme with me.

Hell High : A group of high school outcasts decide to terrorize their teacher. Not realizing a nudge will make her go postal. This movie is way better than it has any right to be, quite frankly.

The Untamed : A Mexican SF horror film that is all about sex. It’s not SEXY. It’s ABOUT sex. And the need for it, the way it wrecks relationships, addiction to it, cheating, not being able to be true to yourself about your own identity or needs. It’s a lot. I love it.

Death To Metal : I love to see heavy metal horror alive and well. An evil priest gets a toxic waste makeover and decides to take out his religious frustrations in a local dive hosting a rock concert. It’s low budget and full of love.

Tropic of Cancer : Giallo! Again! With voodoo. Not accurate voodoo, don’t ever look for that in a horror film. But with magic and antics is what I really mean. And those antics are quite wild and fun.

Final Judgment : Brad Dourif as a priest with a gun trying to catch a serial killer. Also, lots of strippers. If nothing about that makes you want to watch it, may I check your temperature?

The Mangler : One of those bottom-of-the-barrel Stephen King adaptations with so much to give. Directed (well, in part, it sounds complicated) by Tobe Hooper. Starring Ted Levine. With an absolutely gigantic, evil, designed-by-Dracula laundry press.

Deep Blood : I haven’t seen every Jaws ripoff known to man. But why do I have the feeling this is the worst? If you want to relax with friends and laugh heartily over a multitude of poor choices and production mistakes, have I got the movie for you.

Identity : How unknown is this? I mean, it has John Cusack and Ray Liotta in it. But I still feel like no one talks about it. Still needs way more love. And Then There Were None, but twists galore. And lots of great, fun performances.

Retribution : A man attempts suicide right as a murder is taking place. The soul of the victim enters him and uses his body to exact vengeance. With a fantastic performance from Dennis Lipscomb and a lot of heart.

The Devil's Men : Priest Donald Pleasence versus cult leader Peter Cushing. In a fight to the death. With a minotaur there as well. Place your bets!

The Stone Tape : Do you like Halloween III? The same guy wrote this. It has a similar blending of technology and the supernatural. And the supernatural tends to win in those scenarios...

Benny Loves You : This is a flawed movie, but one thing is for certain: Benny is perfect. Benny loves us, and you’ll love him, too. A killer toy movie that’s a cut above the rest.

It! (1967) : Of course, I had to include the year, because, no, I’m not talking about one of the most popular horror stories of all time. I’m talking about Roddy McDowall (doing a Psycho) and a golem. And murderous hijinks!

Wind Chill : I know Christmas is over at the time of writing this, but this was a fantastic, underrated Christmas horror. A guy and a girl drive home from college in the snow and get stuck. Where a lot of people have gotten stuck before. And died.

The Shuttered Room : We’re in Lovecraft country here. Yog Sothoth doesn’t show up, but a lot of other gothic trappings sure do. People locked up in attics. Getting harassed by locals who are itching to say YOU AIN’T FROM AROUND HERE, ARE YA? Covered in a layer of creepy sweat. With Oliver Reed!

The Dead Hate The Living : Gotta end on a total banger. An independent film crew gets a little too zealous in making their horror flick and unleashes zombies upon themselves. With a ton of shoutouts and horror nerding, enough even for little old me.

issei’s actually the oldest grandchild, the next after him was born 3 years after him but he’s still just as close with them all.

plays the guitar! and he’s really good at it!! and he can sing to but gets embarrassed doing it infront of people.

did it a lot as a teenager then kind of pulled back a bit when he first moved out n got a job, but then realised how tiring adulthood is and picked it back up. especially since him and makki have their own place. (also hc they live together timeskip:p)

on his face he did have his lip done as a teen but took it out when he hit his twenties. kinda misses it. but ones he still has are his nose and left eyebrow. and then also has 1 nipple done.

and tattoos. he definitely has over 25 altogether but some of his favs are:

he has the classic mom in a heart tattoo on the inside of his bicep. roman numerals of his moms bday and his.

has a naked girl on his right ribs that has “killer kat” written on like a sash under it. in honour of him loosing his virginity to a crazy bitch named kat.

has a butterfly on the top of his spine

on his right forearm he has a snake wrapped in thorns going around his arm, but worked his other ink around it.

has lost on his left calf and found on his right in that like gothic font.

has a strawberry on his arm dedicated to his bestie <3 makki has a cigarette for issei (he wasn’t happy bout that.)

and then finally has “ibiza 2019” tattooed on his ass cheek from a seijoh 4 holiday.

all round chill guy, loves to be that friend that you can relay on. so his place growing up was the place, and now his own apartment is the place.

ik everyone says it but mf gets lazy like, i know it’s saturday but that don’t mean we gotta lie in bed till 1:30pm kay baby? hell then suggest laying on the couch instead.

he could finish a whole netflix series and some more in a day like it’s light work.

but aswell, he could literally wake up one morning, clean his whole house then wait for you or makki to wake up then drag you on a hike. like where’s this energy when needed??

issei has convinced himself he has the best sense of style out of the seijoh 4. in his mind it goes:

issei-> iwa-> makki-> oikawa.

he hasn’t let kawa live down those shorts..

he has a habit of playing the same song whenever he walks to the corner shop by his building. he has it blaring in his headphones and sometimes he starts singing aloud.

also he’s an unREAL singer btw

he also has a habit of walking around naked, claiming it’s more liberating.

he can play drums and guitar!! he used it as a way to distract himself when he was younger and really wanted to be in a band. still thinks he could but doesn’t wanna risk it y’know?
