look i don't know how true this is but i hate hate hate in my bones the way that the recent rise of purity culture has intersected with minimalism and irony poisoning

no sex. no dark themes. no "fetishization." no ornamentation. no "unrealistic" lighting and you can't see a thing. actors don't enunciate for shit. no "purple prose" or "overwriting" (it's just an adverb) or "tumblr prose" or whatever the fuck the newest term will be. sincerity is cringe, ew, why would he say that. no colour grading, because we want the big-screen blockbuster to be "realistic," BUT we will shoot it in a room with fake sunlight and slap the effects onto the scene post-production. moral fiction. moral fanfiction. Look, it's been days since that art trade happened or whatever, but what someone is not going to do is convince me that Miruko being as pale as her hair was just "not the real thing, it's just edited" and "Maybe he can't render other skin tones".

Like, do not come onto my post about how my favorite character was terribly whitewashed and act as if it was something "harmless".

Look, it's bad enough BONES lightened her when Rock Lock exists and they color his skin tone just fine. I don't need Marvel, a franchise with plenty of black and brown characters, to come and miscolor the one brown woman.

I refuse to believe it was just some "harmless mistake".

If Delgado couldn't "render some skin tones" then why add Miruko to the art at all? Why add a character who is brown skinned if he can't render brown skin? There wasn't other female characters he couldn't add to the art piece? There are plenty of options! He added Setsuna from class B there. He couldn't add someone from there? Or another Pro Hero? Someone from class A? Hm?

There are literally two brown female characters in MHA. That is Miruko and Meryl. Everyone else is pale skinned.

If he couldn't, I ask again, render brown skin why choose one of the two brown skinned women for the piece?

"Using references", so you're telling me, if Delgado was using references and possibly just from the anime, resulted in to THAT FIRST COLORING OF MIRUKO?! THAT WHITE SKINNED?! Light skinned or not, at least here, she got some brown?! Hello? Especially when everyone else was colored fine?!

You're telling me this couldn't be colored?!

So it's just me who find it funny that everyone else had their skin tone colored fine but it's Miruko, the brown skinned woman I repeat, is the one who gets whitewashed? And then in the recolor she still is lighter than in the manga so it's not obvious it was terrible whitewashing in the first place?

I'm not stupid. Some of you may think I'm being sensitive but imagine how it is to be a brown person yourself and be a fan of black and brown characters and constantly see them get mistreated in fiction. And then on top of that, have people in fandoms come at you like "Well, it's not that bad" or "you're thinking too much into it".

No. How about next time a POC speaks on an issue that have and they want to rant about it you don't come in and act as if nothing is wrong?
