yea as much as I dislike it (as I find the writing & stories in the books to be....not the best) Tales from the Pizzaplex is like. So Much in the games continuity. They kinda can't really make it any clearer tbh. (more of my ramblings below the cut for those who don't want to hear my fnaf ramblings)

first with the GGY now with Edwin in the games and the mimic storyline, its clear that they are the same storyline. Anyone still trying to argue that's not the case is huffing some huge copium.

Now the question is, does that make Fazbear frights in the games too? Cause that's a whole other can of worms. My initial instinct is to say yes- simply because it's what makes the most sense. With the remnant necklace in Tales being the same as the one in Frights, it seems like a direct connection to one another. But then that opens everything from FF into the games. Which includes the 6th missing kid and everything involving that, the few very off the wall short stories, the trash afton, all that.

I'd be fine with everything except adding a 6th missing kid to the MCI. I understand FNAF moving on as a story. I even like the sci-fi elements. I'm okay with it all. But adding a completely new character to the fnaf 1-UCN era that completely changes the story and making them a Very Important Character for the ending of thay very era? It kinda just feels like it shits on the entire past 10 years you built as storyteller.

But if that's what happens? that's okay. Even if I'm upset about those turns of events, I'm still gonna follow this story. You may read that and think I'm insane, and I should just stop following fnaf. but this leads me to another thing I wanted to talk about.

I agree with the advice given to just leave or don't be irrationally angry about the way the franchise is going, and just accept that you cant do anything about it. But some of us may feel like they can't. Which may feel stupid sure. You see, FNAF, as an autistic individual, is my special interest. This may not be easy to understand to most people (not talking directly to you OP, just using your post as a jumping off point) but special interests to autistic people aren't like normal things you like. For me, it's something almost a part of my identity. It's something that's such a huge comfort to me that without it I'd feel...empty almost. I know it sounds weird, but when you like something like that, you can't just leave and find another thing to like.

Okay I have some thoughts about the community’s reaction to the Secret of the Mimic trailer that I need to get out or else I’ll explode. Everybody is so upset for no good reason and it’s kind of exhausting that we can’t have a single FNaF release without people getting mad that it’s “not like the OG games”. Which is fair, but also, FNaF has undergone ten years of development, both technologically and financially and Scott now has ten years of retrospect with this series, and obviously everything is going to change. That’s not really what I wanted to talk about though SO I’m just going to ramble about a few things I’ve seen people say and spout some thoughts my friends and I have been having about it.

“Who even is the Mimic???” Okay. It’s completely fair to not know who the Mimic is (even though most people do at this point, as it’s not exactly information that’s hard to access), which is WHY this game is being made, and it’s why I’m so glad this game is being made. Important game lore being exclusively in the books is dumb, and I’m glad we’re finally getting the Mimic backstory in an actual game. This is a good thing!! They’re giving us information in the format they should’ve been giving it to us in all this time!! (Though, it being in the books first felt like a test run of these concepts they’re exploring in the games, as if they were trying to get us used to it? I guess it kind of worked? Still a weird move though.)

“It’s just Poppy Playtime /neg” Have we all forgotten that Poppy Playtime was made to feed off of the Security Breach hype? Have we forgotten that FNaF essentially created the mascot horror genre? SotM is the style it is because of SB, not because of the mascot horror games that copied the modern FNaF style. SotM would’ve existed in its current form with or without PPT, as PPT has nothing to do with the natural progression of FNaF games. PPT started with people calling it a FNaF ripoff and now I guess people are saying FNaF is a PPT ripoff?? Do you guys hear yourselves??

“Tales from the Pizzaplex isn’t canon because of [insert minor detail]” How on earth do you still think this even after the games have followed Tales’ Mimic lore time and time again?? Tales is how we know what we know about the Mimic, which lines up with what we have in the games. It’s all one story, just being told across different forms of media for some reason. And if SotM directly mentioning concepts from Tales isn’t enough, I do not know what you think they’re trying to do here. You guys are coping so hard. As for little details that are different: OBVIOUSLY the games are going to be different from the books, they’re entirely different medias with different requirements for storytelling and audience engagement.

TL;DR Your reasons to be mad about modern FNaF are stupid and don’t make sense. If you don’t like the way FNaF is going, simply do not follow it or interact. It’s that easy. Alternatively, accept you can’t do anything about it and just go along for the ride and at least try to enjoy yourself! Stop being angry about everything, it’s not helpful to you or anybody else.

getting let go from my job after the first day (i think someone i went to school with outed me lmao) has got me thinking about the california economy and yknow. i wonder if skyrocketing insane housing prices driving vast swathes of our remotely employed middle class to move to other states and countries might have had the effect of removing a large customer base with disposable income from our local economy causing us to go into an economic recession nice and early as a canary in the real estate coal mine that in a better country would have actually made the news. but i suspect that the national recession is going to be like the global pandemic where officials will lie about/obfuscate the issue until its impossible to hide

LITERALLY WHAT IM SAYING???? the problem with paul and something hes been critised for his whole coaching career is that he will always prefer to put in a vet over a young kid, especially vets hes worked with previously because he knows them better and newer kids have to go through trials and tribulations before he decides to start them regularly

it drives me mad because we're in need of a righty d so we can stop playing nate and kuli on their offsides. this isnt to say nate and kuli are bad on their offside theyve been holding down the mantle quite well it just its absolutely baffling that while ekky was out boqy shouldve stepped in (again) and at least run pp1, hes offensive, hes a puck mover and was just starting to gain chemistry with matthew and instead he was sat and put in like 1 back to back game and then tobi got called up.

im not mad at that decision i think tobi deserves to have more time to prove himself up with us but also youre best righthanded defenceman is out.. you decide to call up a lefty??? when boqy is right there??? and you have time to let him play out games and get used to the team (again)??? and you dont do that??? so now quite literally every pair has a lefty???? and you dont give him time to play and now ekkys back so now tobis down again and boqys back to being in jail???

the ideal here is that boqy slides up with mikksy because i think mikksy benefits from someone whos more offensively minded than he is (like monty was) while he hangs back at the blueline but i cant deny that his playstyle this season has really evolved where hes the dman whos jumping up more often in plays and joining rushes and the way he crowds the net is so very helpful and this due in large part to him adapating his play with kuli because last fucking season it was so notable how much the mikksy-kuli pair seemed to be too defensive and we're dragging each other down, and i was glad when monty came back because mikksy does benefit from a player like that. now it seems because of that its actually mikksy filling in the role of the more offensive dman with kuli because they have that chemistry now (not so much nate now because if i took a shot for the amount of times theyve taken each other out in plays because they havent had the time to properly establish their areas i think id be blackout drunk ofc the more time they play w eo the less of a problem that will be but when youre down ekky it looked not as good)

so now we have the conodrum of well the original plan of putting boqy up with mikksy kinda goes out the window because we realise how much the team benefits as a whole when mikksy gets on his horse and becomes a sometimes 5'10 winger, and you cant have two dman that are gonna be doing that... which is why when paul slotted in boqy he always put him with nathan. but that means uvis is out and you really dont want him out because he has great physicality and is also a puckmover so then youd be switching kuli nathan and uvis out which- 2 are vets, 2 have played for paul and-

Idk if I'm gonna be able to articulate this on the fly like first thing in the morning, but. I think my ENTIRE body of work is This: Examining how family ties, bonds or lack thereof, the good and bad AND ugly, seep into every facet of who we are and how we come to interact with others. How sometimes, a family tie (or again, a Lack of one), will sometimes bleed into how you act and treat specific people. Will bleed into how you CONNECT with those people (or, will be the very reason you fail to do so).

HOWEVER. HOWEVER. THERE IS A DELICATE LINE. A BALANCING ACT. You CANNOT just simply attribute fanon flavored ideas of found family to such characters. That's too simple, and sometimes, is a complete disservice to the specific character you're working with. I am once again bringing up Chilchuck. YES, him being a dad Absolutely seeps into how he treats his party. But if you call him the party's dad, you're Insane. Do you know ANYTHING ABOUT THAT MAN???? He would prefer you didn't. But I digress. He strikes a fascinating balance, between having The Qualities and ESPECIALLY expressing his care for his party in a Really Specific divorced (separated.) father of three fashion, but that does Not make him a "dad friend". He's a professional. He's on business. He's going home at the end of the day, and at the end of this adventure he's thinking of setting up a shop. I wanted to keep this more vague and broad but like. The Chilchuck example REALLY DOES perfectly articulate What I'm trying to get at, here. He's the perfect encapsulation of How his family shapes him, how that bleeds into his relationships with others, vs Who he is as a person.

How we were raised, our family ties, whether you adhere to it or you've fallen FAR from the tree -- you still fell from that stupid fucking tree. It's in your blood. Literally. It gave you shape, whether you liked it or not. And sometimes some things just set off weird domino effects, that also affect us irrevocably forever.

WHICH IS. TO SAY. I have no fucking idea what I'm talking about. I'm always trying to figure that out. Found family is/can be real, you're not strictly bound by blood if you don't wanna be. BUT. The bullshit I'm constantly on, is trying to figure out how to balance all that without slotting everyone into reductive roles. I'm gay and I seek to destroy the nuclear family. Not attempt to recreate nuclear family 2.0. You CAN reconstruct What Family Is/Means from the ground up, but you have to accept that things are going to get Weird. Because you're Queer. You are fundamentally incompatible with the status quo and normalcy, the solution is NOT assimilation and palatability, the solution is to just. Get weirder. And be fluent in canon. Okay. I love you

baby its time for ur daily miguelposting but. the interpretation that “miguel’s only believing in canon events and because he just wants everyone to be as miserable as him” assigns a particular vein of spitefulness to his motivations i honestly don’t think aligns with what we’re shown of him. 

you don’t see spite in the way he interacts with peter b and mayday, when that example in particular is one you think would invoke it if it was there, especially considering how quickly Everything comes bubbling to the surface w miguel in this film. Nor are there any strange comments about the fact jess is also about to become a mother. the most heartfelt interaction he has with miles, one utterly absent of annoyance or sarcasm, is the one where he’s explaining the consequences he believes his actions invoked upon someone he loved and her entire world.

i just do not get the sense that this is someone purporting this belief system out of spite, i get the impression it was a framework applied to not only make sense of the most recent tragedy in his life, but all of the suffering that him and other iterations of spidermen had gone through. And that he refuses to examine flaws in it because of how traumatic what happened to Gabriella was, yes, but also because if he’s wrong, every action undertaken for what he believed was the greater good was wrong and caused needless suffering. ALSO the suffering the canon events purport to give meaning to would become meaningless.

Far be it from me to judge someone's headcanons or favorite characters ships and whatnot, but it is disheartening when you watch a show or play a game or read a book, and you enjoy it and join the fandom, only to find that the fandom version of certain characters are completely different from the canon.
