The way people defend maiko by talking about how little impact her actions have on the narrative is itself a testament to how misogynistically she's written. I feel like I'm always whipping out that Strong Female Characters article but it applies here so well. Mai can help Azula capture Zuko and literally lead a coupe against him in the comics and it matters so little to the narrative because once she's with Zuko she's written as a big joke about how women are just Like That.

It's amazing because the same people that acknowledge that Zuko was manipulated by Azula into coming back to the Fire Nation will refuse to acknowledge that that could possibly have any impact on his relationship with Mai, and that's because the narrative treats it like it doesn't. It's never addressed between them. I'm assuming that the show doesn't want me to think Mai actually prefers Zuko when he has no one else to turn to, which is what prevents me from labeling maiko as outright abuse. I'm assuming that the show doesn't want me to think that Zuko can never really trust her, but the show is usually so careful with Zuko's psychology that it's hard not to feel that way.

I know I've said this before, but Mai doesn't actually have to be the reason Zuko is trapped to be complicit in it. She can also be herself mistreated by Azula and her parents and still treat Zuko poorly because hurt people tend to hurt other people. Mai actually becomes a much more interesting character if you acknowledge this, too. Instead of this "lol look at this teenage girl ordering her boyfriend to bring her food" "lol look at her being a jilted lover isn't that so funny" stuff the show does.

The only thing that really bothers me about the GG situation is that the screenshot with Kaia was taken in the house where Austin was shooting for Cartier before SAG. This is obvious from the layout, interior, etc. (I've looked at parts of this house a lot in different photos). The photographer who took the pictures wrote that this was Austin's house. Let's be honest, it looks like the truth, the house is too modest for Kaia + the same photographer did a black-and-white photo shoot about Austin's trip to Anaheim and there was the same house. Q: Why was Austin watching GG not in this house, but Kaia?

Ahhh.... the great house debate comes up again lol 😆

Callum and Austin already stated (twice in fact) that they watched the GG's together in Austin's house ("Butler's pad"), and the author of the article below even went as far as to say that Austin and Callum watched the Golden Globes TOGETHER ALONE.... in "Butler's pad", with **"no glam girlfriends"** lol 🤭

There's also the fact that Callum wasn't sure if Austin had a dog or not lol. 😅 In an interview for MOTA, he questioned Austin on whether or not he had a dog. Now, if Callum were in the same home where Kaia was watching the GG's, why would he be confused on whether or not Austin had a dog? 🤔 Wouldn't he have seen the dog at the house?

I'm not sure how you can tell where Austin is from this photoshoot for Cartier above, but keep in mind that the SAG Awards took place in Feb of 2023...

It is very customary for celebrities to install gates in front of their houses for privacy reasons, so this is nothing new.

Another fun fact, the Daily Mail themselves referred to the house as "Kaia's home" in their article regarding the Casa Migos Halloween bash.

There's also the fact that when you look at Kaia's House, especially her bedroom, there's nothing with Austin in it. Even the photos above the bedpost in one of the bedrooms are all Kaia-centric. Usually, when you live with someone, you have your stuff and their stuff as well.

Greg Williams did do a photoshoot with Austin for Hollywood Authentic. The photoshoot did take place in what we know to be Kaia's House. We do not deny that Austin spends time with his girlfriend in her house.

What we are not fully sold on is the "Austin and Kaia bought a house together" claim. Idk about other fans, but I actually think that Kaia's parents helped Kaia buy her own house in Malibu (close to them), and Austin (like a good boyfriend) helped her move into that house.

I think Austin has a smaller "pad" on his own. It would explain why sometimes we've seen them taking separate cars, even when they're out together with her family.

So, there's the evidence Anon! You can feel free to believe whatever you want, but those are the facts for now.

fair. again, it's just a hc. really don't have anything against it, hell, it's an interesting concept! but asgore and toriel are the only main monsters who are confirmed to have seen a human before frisk. if you reset after answering toriel's question about butterscotch or cinnamon, she remembers, and even comments on how she usually feels like she's already met the humans who've fallen down. like, this isn't the first time she's got this specific feeling of deja vu.

as for asgore, he just accepts it like it's the truth. if i remember correctly, the flavor text describes him as "nodding sadly/grievously/pitifully," again, you're right about it possibly being deja vu. however, given how much the flavor text changes, and how many losses it takes for his expression to change, the game really seems to be implying that he's heard this before. i also really don't think a man like asgore would have that little of a reaction to being told he's killed the same person before unless he's heard it many, many times.

also sorry if this sounds rude- but what do you mean by "except sans?" he's really good at reading people, and is chronologically the first character to catch on that you can reset, but i don't think that means he's the only character not to get deja vu. he keeps a lot of stuff close to his chest after all.

ARC-V “Dub-Uncut” Series Masterpost - A Lance99 Project

Ladies and gentlemen! (And all in between!)

Thought to get a little masterpost going for this [mini?-]project and compile stuff as more ground gets broken on this, lol. As mentioned in my release of episode 1, this is a project that's been on the backburner for a while as I worked on other things (and dealt with a drive failure in '22 that made me have to restart)--the original catalyst being an attempted Dub/JP OST edit years back with episode 10 [being a fave of mine] that I got up to the eyecatch with prior to stuff like UltimateVocalRemover providing much cleaner vocal isolation--and after working on/off on it for a while, I dipped into it more over the past few months to finally get it polished and finished up.

If you were around for my little 5D's "dub-uncut" mini-project working off the erroneously-uploaded-without-music episodes uploaded to the official Spanish YGO YouTube channel a few years back (and if you weren't, do feel free to check it out!), the concept here is pretty much the same: I find that there's some potential in the 4K/KCM dubs, but overall it's usually hampered by the dub's music [which especially hurts for ARC-V given the solid Japanese score by Kotaro Nakagawa], some writing/voice-direction choices, and other little oddities/cuts; the goal is to re-score the dub with the Japanese soundtrack, while also modifying the dialogue in spots to be closer to the Japanese dialogue while editing it to the Japanese footage (using either dialogue from other episodes or Duel Links/Cross Duel voicelines as needed)--oh, and also fixing "Zuzu" back "Yuzu" bc why. There may be some scenes where I'll have to use the Japanese audio with subs if 4K cut something and I couldn't quite work enough editing magic to make something work, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. And I'm hoping to do a fair amount of episodes, but would love to work on the whole series if able.

Along with the more accurately-paced dialogue, I’ve also translated the OP/EN (using the singable translations I've worked on for the lyrics), the title cards, and previews (where I also threw in the corresponding lines to the Japanese preview from the next episode, if able) to give this an actual “What if they actually did this uncut” feel, along with some visual translation edits to that effect as feasible. I also commissioned voiceover artist mattsindt over on Fiverr to provide narration for the pre-OP prologues used throughout ARC-V that weren't dubbed, and I love how they all came out. I'll be going into more of the specifics with each episode’s own release post, as I did with episode 1's, so check out the tag here to see what I’ve done with them! Footage-wise, I chose to work off the raw DVD video I've had for years (encodes for episodes 1-4 provided by GX_ST), largely because they have touchups done to the art/animation after the episodes' airings on TV that aren't used in the CR/Amazon TV masters that make up the 1080p downloads available. (I do think the dub itself works off the DVD masters overall, and I may see if it's feasible to try and splice that footage as needed with the 1080p downloads, since the DVD masters are unfortunately not at their total best for a show that aired in HD... pls save us Discotek].) (That said, I might shift to those in mid-Synchro since that's about as far as the saved DVD footage I have goes, so... we'll see, lol.)

I'll also be posting these over for download over on NeoArkCradle (where I also share my GX subbing work), with both a) the more hardsubbed video using the translated OP/EN and visual translations and b) dual-audio .mkv files using Crunchyroll's subs as edited by me for the JP audio (funny how I said years back I wouldn't sub ARC-V since CR took the wheel on it, but with the revisions I made/will make to be more faithful, I guess I am in some way lol), along with "Signs/Lyrics" subs for the dubbed and Japanese audio, which may also contain dub corrections as needed depending on how later episodes go.
