Creep Minecraft World

I've mentioned before how they have a Minecraft world they all play on, and I wanted to actually just randomly talk about it :p

At least several times a month, they all get together to play on their Minecraft world together. Sometimes a few people might be missing or absent, but they try to have as many people playing at a time as they can. Things I've already established, BEN is the one who builds cool houses for everyone (I'm adding on that they're all set up like a villager village, so they're all connected by paths and near each other like a housing development), Jeff helps people the most with mining, and Toby and Sally are both working together to make a zoo for all of the animals they come across with nice surroundings so they can all be happy in there. Now, back to my expanding on it.

I think that they all probably split into groups on who does what, and some people will just tag in whenever they want to. BEN, Liu, Helen, and Brian are the designated builders of the world. They're really good at building and have an eye for making pretty designs, so generally, that's what they spend their time doing. Jeff, Natalie, Kate, and Tim are the designated miners in the world. They had built like a whole mining system and are constantly expanding it to collect more and more materials together. Both groups work together to help each other out, and the rest of the creeps are free to join a team if they'd like to so that they can help out more, but they usually just follow the instructions of the established team members. Toby and Sally as I said earlier are committed to building a zoo, and they name every single animal that they put in there. Sometimes others will help with building or getting animals in there (they have also been allowed to use creative mode to get animals or build something if they need to), and it's situated near the housing area so that everyone can just walk over and look at the progress when they want to. Generally, they all work really well together in their teams, but sometimes they do have disagreements.

Speaking of disagreements, one of the world rules is that keep inventory has to be on, mostly because there was a point when they kept going around killing each other and then they'd get mad because they'd lose their stuff, and fights would happen, so keep inventory has to be on so that now if they die or kill each other, nobody can be upset. (That started because Jeff and Tim would push each other into lava whenever they were in the mines and disagreed on something). They haven't even gotten very far into the Nether yet because they all keep dying or killing each other. Also, nobody is allowed to alter or destroy anything that someone else has made (even if they think it looks really bad and they want to change it to make it look better, cough cough, Helen, cough cough) so that everyone can have their own little area that they build in and they don't have to worry about the safety of the work. I think they also all have an "open chest" policy where they each have one chest with a sign above it that says open, so that if someone is missing or really needs certain supplies they can take from someone else's open chest that has extra stuff they don't really need in it. I'd like to think they also go on like planned attack expeditions, like if they find an area that has a warden they'll all team up to try to fight the warden together (they rarely succeed because everyone is just screaming and yelling and running and laughing), or they'll all fight the ender dragon together, or a wither. Also??? So many mods. BEN has added so many mods to the world and he and everyone else get so much enjoyment out of it. It can be chaotic sometimes, but the Minecraft world is one of the few things everyone can actually usually get along with about, so it's a good bonding experience for them.

I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE MARVELS.

But I’ll refrain from direct spoilers for now. It’s mildly spoiler-y maybe but very generalized and I’m gonna talk around some stuff. 😅

The nutshell?

It’s legit SO fun. It’s a fun, funny as hell, really ENJOYABLE time at the movies. I laughed. Got misty. Felt feels. And wow… THE CAMEOS!!! 🔥

This movie is for everybody. Families should have a great time. But fangirls especially will LOVE. Highly recommend for a SMILE. 😸

Cool action. Great music. Lovable cast (I will adore Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan forever). Laugh out loud moments. I loved it. It didn’t unnecessarily waste time nor stretch anything out. It’s just under 2 hours and it WORKS.

Look, yeah it’s blah blah random plot lore lore etc but it opens up for the future while giving a blast of a ride in the present (and nods to the past). 😉

Lastly, IMO, it’s all very queer coded. Baity even. THAT 🎶 scene was the one iffy thing for me. Kinda silly, and really felt like a “no homo” for the straights but a wink wink and super coded for the LGBTQs. “Marriage of convenience” … 🤐💀 Anyway it’s pretty clear Carol and Valkyrie definitely hooked up. And we all know Maria was so totally her partner before, because come on already… Monica is her dang daughter, that “Aunt” shit ain’t flyin’. And Kamala is hardcore CRUSHIN’ on Carol. 😂

Also one of the cameos at the end. Of all characters they chose the one people are also shipping with another female character, played by an actress beloved by the sapphics for her previous queer roles? And the cats?! So many cats. 💀 Plus Valkyrie in a suit? SAPPHICS RISE.

This entire movie was a whole fruit basket but in a way that slides past heteronormative audiences so “families can still enjoy” (🙄) but that’s a whole other ramble (or rant) for another day.

In the meantime… it’s so fun, y’all. Please GO. It’s important to support projects like these or they’ll keep pulling back on women and POC in these things. Even though the strike impacted promotion and the butthurt fragile misogynists are trying to review bomb (as always). It’s legit a fun time and if you hated it I have to just assume you hate fun, so. Go. See it. Spread the word. 🙏

anyway a very enjoyable detail imo is how fords confrontation with stan in tots after he broke fords machine and his confrontation with bill after fiddleford saw bill's true plans are framed the same way, with a few tweaks so that they're not wholly identical

but what matters here is that stan and bill are watching something (innocence gap aside lmao)

ford enters (or has technically entered the room already) with intent of confrontation

ford's dramatic body language through out the scene + the way stan and bill are placed

and theres a bit of irony in the fact that despite being liars and conmen, both stan and bill are both being entirely honest in this part, with fords reaction ending up the same way. stan is explaining that he broke fords machine on accident while bill is outright gloating that he tricked ford into building the portal. they both are angling to get something out of ford here, with stan still bringing up treasure hunting and bill trying to keep ford under his thumb with the deal they made.

at the end of the day though, with ford not believing stan saying it was an accident and thinking stan is lying to him vs him immediately getting confirmation from bill that he was being played the whole time, the end result is the same: ford feels he's been betrayed by someone he deeply cared about.

so thats all pretty basic stuff right? like who hasnt realized that ford has trust issues. and tbh im just pointing out some basic cinema similarities thats a cool detail nonetheless.

but my fave part is how these are the ONLY times times you actually hear both stan and bill call ford sixer in the show itself

stan and bill are both the only characters to call him sixer, but we only see how frequent that is in the comics and tbob. the use of the nickname in ONLY these scenes in the show specifically was very deliberate to envoke how much this sucks for ford that he's been prevented from achieving one dream by one person he loves, only to have that same dream used against him by another.

imagine how wild this must be for ford lol. the time he confronted bill he is instantaneously thrown back in time by bill using the very last time stan calls him a certain nickname the very night he remembers being "betrayed" by stan. betrayal on top of betrayal is connected to that very nickname, so its not JUST a random nickname either of them couldve called ford (or bill couldve also called him poindexter and a whole lot of variations of nerd, but sixer is the only nickname among the two's list is the same. almost like rubbing lemon juice and salt to the wound atp which is really funny of bill.

tots and lmc in general also have some of my fave details on stans influence over ford in general. from ford quoting stan and copying his body language when HE gets abandoned by fiddleford the way stan thinks ford did with him

(and i say copy— this is no coincidental parallel because we know in tbob ford knows what stan looked when he was doing the "high six" part, so he's been paying super close attention to stan's departure the whole time despite closing the window curtains)

and my favorite arguably funniest one, when stan called ford a dangerous know it all in ddamd and ford (who btw was already behind the vending machine and youd think already went down in the basement), is SO peeved by that he was tossing and turning in bed over that in conjuction with all his bill related flashbacks. this is funny because for someone who was literally writing "TRUST NO ONE" in his journal, he's very upset by the fact that either stan doesn't trust him + thinks that way about him, no matter how deserved or that stan is definietly right about him being a dangerous know it all (and i do not see enough people point that out lmao) AKDHAKDGEU

I've started playing Persona 5 Royal, my first Persona game, because it was ridiculously cheap on Steam. Back when I had GamePass, I installed it but never played past the opening, which I think is a bit weak. I'm about 20 hours in, through the first two palaces, and I'm not sure that my opinion is going to change too much, but I'm registering it now just in case (with some spoilers for the first fourth of the game):

I think having a division between the physical world and the mental world, which is physically represented, is super cool. I used it in Dark Wizard of Donkerk, and am overdue for using it in something else. Psychonauts did it too. Inside Out as well. I will always love this concept.

I don't think I like the gameplay. The last major JRPG I played was Final Fantasy VII Remake, and I thought the same there, so ... I don't know, maybe just a whole genre that I don't have that much of a taste for. It's mostly the random inventory items and pointless mob fights that I'm frowning at.

Severe lack of harmony between the battle stuff and the story. The mob fights have fuck all to do with infiltrating someone's mind. There's stupid elemental shit. The mob designs are interesting but mostly disconnected from each other and any theme.

So far, the psyche stuff has been surprisingly shallow, given that it's the main focus of the game. First palace was a gym teacher (Kamoshida) who's abusing students (physically and sexually), and sees the high school as his castle, but ... I don't know. I wanted more. We're literally walking around inside a character's mind, why is the character study so shallow? He should have layers, like an onion, each more horrible than the last. Kawakami is the other teacher we know best at the start, and there's no sense of how he views her, whether she's a sex object to him, or a non-entity, or someone he's worried about, or what, and I kept expecting that narrative beat to happen. I don't know, I think my fanfic would just radically change the entire palace concept so we get ten times the interplay between real world and mental world, and so we can turn these characters inside out and see all their gross bits.

I wish that Joker spoke more often. He's not really a blank slate protagonist, but there's very little personality there, as much as I'm trying, and that means that other characters are driving the plot and scenes and in general being more interesting than him. This is just a matter of personal preference, and a place where I definitely depart from what the average JRPG enjoyer likes.

I generally enjoy the slice-of-life elements, and to a lesser extent, the time management, though there's a part of me that's just screaming that I should be looking at a guide to maximize values. And if I do that, I'll no longer be playing the game, I'll just be watching scenes and doing inputs. I am definitely not playing this game twice, so if there's a difference in endings, or a big chunk of content I might miss, so be it.

It's relatively low on the anime shit that I hate, though there's still plenty of time for me to be disappointed. The way they're handling Ann is ... kind of not great. She was sexually harassed and then immediately after they have this whole "nude modeling" plot that's played for laughs and titillation, and it's possibly just a me problem here (avoiding spoilers for now), but "girl who was leered at and sexually pressured by her gym teacher being then jokingly pressured by her friends to do sexual stuff she's uncomfortable with" is ... not how I would write it. (The answer to "how I would write Ann" would certainly be pretty long, and I haven't finished the game yet, so maybe it gets better, or gets given more meat in the hangouts or whatever.)

There's still time, but I sort of assume that we're just never going to go into the minds of the protagonists, which is a shame. Tons of possibilities there, and I think if they were going to explore any of them, they would have done it by now. I guess I feel the palaces are underdeveloped enough that I probably wouldn't be satisfied by how they treat the protagonists anyway, but it's what I would have done. Let me see a physical manifestation of how Ryugi feels about his alcoholic father. Let me see Joker's defiance. Let me see Ann's self-image. Show me links between these characters, the differences in how they see the social web.

The frame story for the game is an interrogation by the cops, and I am not a fan. Half the time they're just yanking me out of the story I was in the middle of to signpost "hey, this guy is important". Possibly this will all payoff later in some interesting way, like halfway through the game we reach the "present" and the frame breaks. I usually like that. I've had thoughts on the interesting ways the frame story could be used, and so far they haven't used it in those ways. (Also, there's a bit of weirdness where ... I am pretty sure that I was fighting shadows and using powers outside the Metaverse? Unless the interrogation is actually taking place within the Metaverse. Unsure whether I can register a prediction on this basis, or if there are just more mechanics/wrinkles later on. So far, the interrogation taking place within someone's Palace doesn't seem like it would comport with the rules/expectations that have been set up, but there's still time. I'd prefer not being spoiled if there is a clever payoff or twist.)

This game is apparently 100 hours long, which means it's going to take me forever to finish it. I am enjoying it in spite of any quibbles above, but I'm also feeling like it's only 80% of the game that I want it to be, partly down to execution and partly down to personal preference.

Predictions for Buddy's Real Name

Hello Cinderella Boy enjoyers, how are we doing? Sobbing? Suffering? I can only imagine what emotional turmoil the fast passers may be experiencing right now. Well, to get our minds off of the impending Season One finale, I've decided to try and predict what Buddy's "real" name is.

(PS. You don't have to take this too seriously; I just needed some way to cope after the penultimate episode.)

(P.P.S This post is a pretty long read, so just stay with me on this, or continue on with your scrolling :))

First, I took some observations as to how Punko names her protagonists and compiled the following notes:

Punko has yet to name a main character anything starting with a vowel.

Punko's MCs have had names starting with either a stop/plosive or a fricative.

All of these names have had English, Latin, or Greek origins.

I also am taking the following assumptions into consideration when sifting through potential names:

I'm going to assume Punko will keep in line with all previous observations.

I believe Punko takes a bit of consideration of the meaning behind her characters. Deacon is the most obvious example, because he's like a friend and whatever and second in command to Chase. Prunella means "little plum", and yeah, I can see that. She is smol, and her temperament is... tart like a plum? But also sweet, like a plum? (I've never had a plum, I'm assuming this is what they're like).

I think her name choices skew towards a slightly older generation. Chase being an exception, but with names like "Frankie" and "Prunella" more commonly being given to children in the Victorian Era, apparently. Either way, I'll focus on slightly older names, like 90's and back probably.

I will be keeping a heavy focus on names that begin with the letter 'B' because the title of the series is "Cinderella" (Chase) "Boy" (Buddy/B-alternate name) and I personally think that would be cool.

Last thing is I'm gonna add names of Greek and French origin to the roster because I feel insane. My sources for searching mainly boil down to behindthename.com and the 2012 edition of this baby name book of 100,000+ baby names. That being said:

This is my personal favorite, which is why I'm listing it first, but I do have a few valid reasons for adding it here.

It means "handsome" in French

It plays into the "storybook/romance" angle of the series

Has been a relatively popular name since the 70s

Kind of a weird 2nd pick, maybe, but hear me out.

Comes from Greek meaning "gift of God"

Could reflect that one theory that Buddy is not actually a human, but rather some creation that Ex Libris made

Was popular in 1915 and 2025, which is kind of silly

3. Vincent

Sounds regal enough, lol

Latin origin

Means "to conquor", so maybe he's gotta win something (like his freedom??)

peaked in the mid-60s and 90s

4. Connor

I have a friend named this, so it'd be really funny on Punko's part to name Buddy this

has like two roots meaning "desire" and "wolf"

he desires freedom, and is treated like a dog (they give him ZERO chocolate in Ex Libris)

of Irish origin, but idk, I still like it

5. Hunter

Okay this one has a single thing in it's favor criteria-wise (is of English origin), but this would be very cool considering Chase's name. Chase? and Hunter? Chase the Hunter? Hunt the Chase? Absolute power couple stuff here. Ship name could but C**ter---nevermind that censoring is actually worse

(maybe? comment down what the appropriate ship name for two characters names "Chase" and "Hunter"in case this is actually this poor man's name)

6. Victor

Some goober in the Webtoon comments section, like a year ago claims that Punko said this was gonna be Buddy's name in a Twitch stream, so maybe dawg?

Latin origin; also has to do with winning and victory of his rights or smthn

Apple Staff Alignments & Other Notes from Retail Purgatory AU

Role: Genius

Alignment: True Neutral

Has been at this Genius Bar the longest (apart from Doc)

He's mostly here because he's good at it, they pay him well, & it's generally pretty tolerable. Plus it'd be like, a whole thing to find another job, & he's got other things he'd rather spend his time on.

At this point, he's gotten pretty good at slipping into work mode, so he's generally pleasant, if kinda unremarkable (in demeanor), if you get him for your appointment.

That said, he's very much doing just enough to stay in the managers' good graces & gets maybe a bit too much enjoyment out of seeing just how close he can get to that line.

Like he knows exactly how late he can be on how many days each quarter without getting official feedback & he will be late all of those days.

"Sorry I'm late for the team meeting, traffic was crazy out there!" [is obviously holding a full cup of steaming hot coffee from Starbucks]

So yeah, he's not the one starting shit, but he's definitely just gonna watch in amusement & not help if Doc's pissing off another customer.

Refuses to work any morning shifts ever. Schedule him every weekend day if you want, but if you tell him to show up for a shift before 1pm, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

Tango

Role: Genius

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Tango is an absolute fucking delight to have as your Genius. He's got this infectiously good energy & is just soooo hype to help you figure out whatever's wrong & show you like ten completely unrelated but very cool things in the process.

He is constantly going out of scope, doing software fixes & in appointment hardware repairs that he's very much not supposed to do. Not to mention showing off the most awesome accessories the store currently carries.

So his productivity numbers are abysmal & he's got the longest average appointment duration in the store (well. probably the local market, actually).

But he's also got hands down the best customer reviews. Plus all those $1.5k drones he keeps selling by flying them around the back of the store while in appointments.

Management has tried asking him to hand those customers off to a sales person so he can do tech stuff, but he always just says he couldn't do that because he was still in an appointment with them & he can't send people off without fixing their problems, can he?

& honestly, they really need his review scores to balance out Doc's.

Doc

Role: Genius

Alignment: Lawful Evil

He's been a Genius at the store since it opened & he transferred from being a Genius at a different location.

He has worked on pretty much every Apple product in the last couple of decades & remembers how to fix all of them.

Not that he's happy about it. He will bitch incessantly while doing repairs on newer iPhones & iMacs, spending the whole time complaining about the degradation of product design at this company. He'll do these more challenging repairs flawlessly, but he will not be happy (or quiet) about it.

He has the shortest appointment times in the store. It's part him being wickedly competent at identifying & fixing issues, part he just doesn't want to waste time in appointments with people with boring problems.

Not that his customers complain about the quick appointments. In fact, that's the only good thing they have to say in his reviews. Most of them are more about how he barely talked to them & when he did, it was to insult them, their problems, &/or their devices.

Doc'll routinely cherry pick customers out of the appointment list even though he's super not supposed to. Because if there's a problem weird enough to interest him, he will be taking that appointment.

He really doesn't actually need this job. He's been really into the stock purchase plan Apple offers for the whole time he's been there. He's got such an absolutely wild number of Apple shares at this point; he could sell some & retire & have plenty left over.

And yet. He's still there.

Impulse

Role: Genius Admin (Genius Bar/Repair Room operations plus miscellaneous other responsibilities)

Alignment: Lawful Good

When Impulse became Admin, management told him how the Repair Room & everything in it was his responsibility. What they meant was, "keep everything on track & the Geniuses in line." What he heard was, "okay you're basically Repair Room Mom, so take care of these idiots."

& he really took that to heart.

Like. Impulse can imagine every way that things can go off the rails & has plans for all of them.

He always keeps back stock of all the tools & consumable goods hidden somewhere in the store. Anything from sim ejector tools that everyone's constantly losing to those weird obscure tools used to fix the nearly unserviceble Mac Pros twice a year, you need it, he's got it somewhere.

While management expects him to enforce all the rules & tell them when they are broken, he is way more concerned with just holding the whole repair operation together. He's got so many irons in the fire as admin, he's not that bothered with rules that don't have an actual impact on getting things done.

However, he does remind them all about safety rules very often. You even try to touch the repair bench without being grounded, he will appear from nowhere to say that he knows you weren't about to do something that could brick a customer's device or start a thermal event. Because both of those involve a lot of paperwork that he's responsible for.

Tbh, he's actually pretty worried about their safety since things can go sideways fast with some repairs & either of those things would involve having to tell management. Okay, and he doesn't want do paperwork, but that's just because he's so busy keeping things going, he doesn't have time to get distracted by extra paperwork!

He works a lot of early morning shifts to do various inventory things & get things organized before the store opens. He's gonna be up anyway, might as well take the shifts no one else really wants.

Mumbo

Role: Genius

Alignment: Chaotic Anxious

Oh Mumbo. My sweet, sweet Mumbo. My anxiety baby. (I say as an anxiety baby.)

He's great with customers & at explaining things in ways that make people feel reassured, even if they have no clue how things work as soon as they leave the store.

However, he does get anxious easily when things are busy & the team is behind on appointments. So he gets sent back to do repairs when that happens before he flips out.

To be fair, he also gets flustered back there, which tends to lead to him trying to go faster & making mistakes that wind up making the repairs take longer.

But Impulse has a strategy worked out with Mumbo for when he's on repairs.

Because when Mumbo isn't flustered? He's the fastest repair person by a long shot, especially on iPhones. No one can perfectly replace as many phone batteries per hour as calm Mumbo can.

So when it's busy & there's a lot of phones to be done, the overhead lights go out with only the bench lighting on, classical music and ambient rain noises go on the speaker, & Mumbo works from a repair to do list that Impulse made just for him.

Seeing everything waiting to be repaired will just make Mumbo nervous & slower, so they decided that he only needed to see the next few at any given time. Impulse takes care of any priority rearranging that's needed on the full list & Mumbo puts on the blinders & only looks at the next three repairs & busts through a super human number of repairs.

(Even Doc is impressed. He just won't actually directly say so.)

okay so this is a marauders playlist that i’ve like annoyingly hyper curated with songs i think specific characters would listen to! i am very proud! all of the songs should be from 1981 or earlier. here’s my unnecessary explanation for why i have music where it is and what i think are some themes and quintessential songs from the characters:

the playlist starts with group music, meaning anthems that i think they would listen to together. the opening pink floyd songs feel like good companion pieces to set the stage for their vibe as a group. those are the only two songs that sound best played back to back. i think some of the most significant group songs are “heroes” (make me cry why don’t you?) and “dancing in the moonlight” (which also makes me sad?). but on a lighthearted note i can see them dancing around to “does your mother know”

okay so the group music transitions into sirius’, which is how all of the sections work- meaning that there is a song or two shared between characters as we transition between them. again, the songs are chosen because i can picture these certain characters enjoying these certain songs (as opposed to songs describing characters), but that’s not to say they are exclusive. for the group and sirius, those transition songs are “hot stuff” and “starman.”

so sirius’ music is generally heavier rock, with some punk and metal mixed in. i think the lightest song he has is “cool cat,” which is very good btw. quintessential sirius to me is “lady stardust” and like that song SPECIFICALLY. he is lady stardust. also “rebel rebel” of course. “black dog” too, but that’s a bit on the nose.

his music turns into remus’ with “baba o��riley” and “hybrid moments.” do you see the vision? they are both giving teen punks to me. but also remus feels like a rock enjoyer, so for me his quintessential rock is the pink floyd (“great gig” and “comfortably numb”). i also gave him some early ska because i feel like out of anyone in the group, he would be into that. “this is radio clash” is another big remus song to me. i gave him “nib” because yes indeed he plays bass.

from remus we go into james’ music with the transition song of “gold dust woman.” james has pretty classic, lively rock. it’s more one-track than the other characters, but i’m speaking my truth or whatever. he’s a classic rock enthusiast. the heaviest his music gets is “breaking the law.” i gave him specifically “all the young dudes” even though it’s usually considered a group song. i don’t really have an explanation, it just feels right. quintessential james is “i was made for lovin’ you” and “good old-fashioned lover boy,” because ain’t that the truth? he would play air guitar to “you really got me.”

with “got to get you into my life” we’re getting into peter’s music. i gave him more new wave than anybody else but i mostly gave him classic rock. peter’s music to me can be summed up in “don’t bring me down” and “people are strange.” he is very gary numan 2 me. i feel like he could easily get along with the music most other characters would play for him. like i think he would have agreeable taste.

peters music transitions into the girls (mary, lily, marlene, dorcas) with “lay all your love on me” and “bridge over troubled water.” i gave the girls some variety, rock to disco to new wave to motown, because i don’t have enough songs for the individual girls, but there is so much variety in the music they would enjoy, so it looks a bit crazy. i feel like mary and dorcas would jam together to the metal. “and if you see him” is lily. in my mind she loves this album. “don’t you want me” is marlily, but in like a fun happy way, like they sing it to each other. “kiss on my list” is giving dorlene to me. “these boots…” is for marlene and i love that for her.

Don't get me wrong, he's definitely impressed. But he can't shake off the twinge of worry that you're gonna dislocate a joint or something whenever you're stretching/flexing. At least, this is the case the first time he sees the extent of your flexibility lol

That being said, he does think not only can it be useful while fighting but ~other things~, so he doesn't mind it at all

Chuuya strikes me as a mating press enjoyer

Chuuya is also pretty flexible so you two would work on incorporating that into your self-defence skills (we all saw that one scene from Fifteen- y'all are doing some epic kicks)

He thinks it's cool but he always reminds you not to overexert yourself and to try not to tear anything. If you did though, don't worry- he'd help take care of you <3

So he's rather impressed to see that you're physically flexible, because he respects ballerinas and how much work they put into their physicality (AND SO SHOULD YOU 😤). This is the case even if you don't do ballet (he just assumes that you've trained hard regardless), but he does suggest it to you. He'd also probably offer to pay for lessons lol

One of the main reasons it impresses him is because he isn't able to do it himself (he's brittle T-T) so he's like...'well you must be a very special individual' lol

Tells you not to tell Mykola about it, not for sexual reasons- Mykola's just a dick and he'd mess with you for hours (and tbh also probably make sexual comments on it now that I think of it)

Hi! You can totally be the cherry anon if you want, that's cool with me! I'm sorry it took me a bit to see this, I've been writing requests from the bottom of my inbox to the top of it lately so that I could get the oldest requests done first, and seeing this in my inbox, I just knew I'd have a blast! I was right, writing this was so much fun.

I did it as headcanons to keep the fic from breaching a 15k word limit which I knew I'd get to if I let myself and I didn't want this fic to run too long! I hope that that's all right with you and if not, I apologize and I can rewrite if you'd like me to!

Okay, so!

Your status as a shapeshifter is kind of just...known amongst the crows? 

Like, they all know about it and it just kind of exists as another one of your attributes. It’s not a big deal, and nobody has ever really made it out to be.

You’re able to enhance your hearing so that you can hear pretty far out, which comes in handy a lot on heist jobs, especially if you can make it so that you can be standing on the total opposite side of wherever you need to be for the heist and still be able to hear Kaz and Nina bickering at the checkpoint. 

You’re also able to make yourself quieter, which comes in handy a lot on jobs too, especially when you need to focus on being stealthy and go unseen and unheard. 

Now that I think of it, there’s probably a way that you can shift to match your surroundings or like, make them match you kind of, and make yourself invisible, which is actually a super cool concept and I don’t want to get sidetracked by it, so next thing!

There’s a healthy amount of times that you should shapeshift on a regular basis. You go off that and start doing it too much or not doing it enough, you get really bad aches and pains.

I feel like you’d get them all over and they would hurt as much as a really bad migraine. It happens at random and can sometimes last a couple of days, too. All in all, the pain part of it isn’t really a fun or enjoyable experience so you try to shapeshift consistently

YOU WOULD TOTALLY SHAPESHIFT INTO RANDOM SHIT TO SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF PEOPLE-

forgive the caps, I would a thousand percent do the same thing and I got excited when I remembered that that was a possibility.

You’d probably shapeshift into something like a tarantula and just spend hours relaxing in a random corner of Wylans lab weaving webs and hanging from the ceiling and being all cool, and then Jesper comes in and you go to greet him and he’s like “saints, what is that?"

and then Wylan is just like “it’s Y/N? Their favorite color is the dots on their back? How could you not recognize them?”

“Oh, I’m sorry Wylan, I’m just not so used to seeing my best friend as a bloody tarantula!” 

You probably shapeshift into a cat to be a menace to Kaz 

the concept of you just kind of showing up at his office window and then doing that thing that cats do where they nap in direct line of wherever the sun is coming in is something I love more than life itself

AFTER you’ve sunbathed an appropriate amount of time, you, in the form of a cat, jump onto Kaz’s desk and glare at him the entirety of the time that it takes you to bring his to-go cup of coffee closer and closer to the edge of his desk, until it tips over and spills. 

that concept has made me laugh for the last ten minutes

Kaz almost hates you for that every time you do it, even though he knows you’re only doing it because he did something to piss you off first and he just considers it fair when he remembers that much. 

You also buy him a replacement coffee out of the kindness of your heart, though you never actually apologize to him

to be menacing in the direction of Matthias and Nina, you also take up the form of a spider. Neither of them really like spiders and you just kind of mess with them for two minutes before it gets old and you switch into something else.

Inej is a cat person through and through, and there aren’t many ways in which you can mess with her, nor do you want to because knife wife WILL use knives if she doesn't recognize the fact that whatever you shift into is you and the possibility, though slight, is still there.

You go to Inej as a cat the most often, though. 

You’re able to keep up with her when she’s running through the barrel on her missions for Kaz, and the naps in the sun are best when you’re laying on one of Inejs coats while she spars with Jesper

You’ve also been a literal fly on the wall to get intel for Kaz before, but that was because you’d offered, and it was exhausting. You got a lot of good intel from that but you were like “nah, never again. Not for less than a hundred million kruge. Never”

generally, it’s a very chaotic but a very fun existence, and you wouldn’t trade a minute of it for anything

It was not often the 3 of us would get to go on a vacation. Let alone, have time off in general. So when Dean said we were all going camping, I was so excited, I pretty much started packing immediately.

“We’re going camping?! Like, for real camping with a tent and all?” I asked hopeful.

"Yeah! Why not." Dean smirked.

"Yup. We thought we could get some time away from these walls. Cases have gone cold for a while, so let's do something enjoyable while we can." Sam elaborated.

"EEEE! When are we going then?" I asked excitedly.

"Soon as we pack the car...."

"And, probably get some more camping stuff." Sam cut in, knowing it had been a while since they've had the camping essentials.

I could already picture it now, falling asleep under the stars. I always loved the outdoors. Most people think of forests and woodsy areas as scary, eerie, but not me. I’ve always found them so peaceful, if you stay still and silent, it’s so serene. You can hear almost nothing but the sounds of nature existing, trees creaking and moving with the wind, birds, small animals, leaves falling.

It had been so long since I’d gone camping, if at all. I think I went camping as a kid a few times with my dad and brothers. My closest thing to camping after that was our stakeouts, whether that be waiting in a cemetery at night or sitting outside the impala in front of someone’s property. The next day, Dean and I went shopping at the farm and fleet. Of course, he had to argue with me over what was "real camping" and what was not.

"There's no firewood just sittin' out in stacks in the wild. You gotta chop down your own."

"Well, are you gonna spend 2 hours or so chopping down a tree?"

"Maybe I will.." Dean smirked, walking past me to look further down the aisle.

"Ok, we're gonna need stuff to ignite fires. Matches, a little lighter fluid..." I glanced at my list.

"Yeah? That's the easy way to start a fire, the cheating way. That ain't real camping." Dean shook his head.

"When have you ever started a fire with your bare hands?"

Dean paused and rolled his eyes. We finished going through my list and checked out. That night we packed the car and our individual duffels. We set out the next morning to a state park about an hour and a half away, just far away enough from the bunker we call our home. Cas paid us a visit, just as we were on our way out the door.

"Dean, Sam, y/n... Hello." Cas addressed each of us.

"Hey, Cas, what's goin on?" Dean greeted him.

"I wanted to see how you all were doing, is everything alright?" Cas asked with a bit concern.

"Yeah, we uh... Don't worry, leads are cold, it's been radio silent for a while. Our last case was like, a month ago." Sam assured.

"Oh. Well, what are you all up to?" Cas asked, visibly relaxing.

"We're going camping. Wanna come?" I asked.

"Well, okay." He agreed. "Cool, we're leaving now!"

"Cas, do you need to bring anything?" Sam asked.

"Sam, he's an angel. I think he's good." I replied for Cas.

"I, do have my own toothbrush." Cas voiced plainly.

Dean paid the campground fee and we pulled into a spot in the corner, away from most of the other campers. First thing we did was set up our tent. We splurged a little and got a 10 person tent, which was going to be so nice, we'd all have our own space. I scattered the pieces all around, Sam picked up the instructions and started reading. Dean on the other hand, started attempting to put the tent together. He fumbled around with the pieces for a while before a few that he got put together, came tumbling down.

"Really?!" Dean threw his hands up in the air.

"y'know, sometimes it helps to read instructions!" Sam chuckled.

"Why didn't we just get one of those pop up tents??"

"Because, it was an extra hundred dollars!" I reminded him.

Once the tent was set up, I arranged all the foam sleeping pads and draped our sleeping bags over them. The boys unpacked their things on their sides. Cas sat outside the tent on a fallen tree, gazing around the campsite.

"So, what do we do now?" Cas asked.

"We do camping stuff." I said like it was obvious. Cas just kept looking at me confused. "Go on a hike, go fishing, swim in the lake... we can make a fire when it gets late to tell stories, roast marshmallows and s'mores..." I went on.

"I'm not swimming in no lake." Sam chimed in.

"Yeah, cus Sam hates fun. Also, he's like a cat and hisses anytime he's near water." I joked.

"The fuck is your problem?" Sam tossed a towel at my head. I made crazy eyes at him.

We all went for a walk after that. I said a hike, but Dean didn't like that I referred to it as a hike, so we were going for a walk. I could hear both my brothers swatting at mosquitos behind them, majority of the time. "My god, it is too buggy for this." Sam cringed, slapping his arm.

"Are we almost back to the campsite?" Dean whined.

"Yeah, why? You gettin' tired?" I turned around.

"....No...." He looked super bothered.

"Don't wear so much cologne next time." I laughed.

"Shut up."

“So what is the point of this?” Cas asked, awkwardly holding a stick.

We all started the fire once the daylight dimmed. I love s’mores, s’mores are the best. But they taste the best when you’re camping, or outdoors. When you have s’mores on a regular occasion it just isn’t the same. I greedily gathered all of the ingredients to get the s’mores started. We all had to find our own sticks on the walk/hike because Dean didn’t think it was necessary to buy sticks.

“There’s no point. But if there was, it would be delicious and fun tradition.” I said.

“Dean, would you stop eating all the ingredients!” Sam scolded at Dean, who was popping marshmallows out of the bag. I laughed when I looked over and saw Dean’s face. He had to have had at least 3 to 4 giant marshmallows stuffed in his mouth.

I put one on my stick and got the roasting started. The 3 guys gathered around the fire too. Castiel sat there for a moment, observing our actions and soon mimicking them. He reached out with his marshmallow stick towards the fire and let his sit in the flames. He kept it there without moving it until it caught fire.

“Um, my dessert has burst into flames.” Cas said with no urgency whatsoever.

“You can’t just hold it there forever, Cas. Take it out, blow on it!” Dean pointed out.

Cas held up the stick that had a flaming torch at the end of it. He attempted to blow on it, but it wasn’t strong enough. “Guys, what do I do?” He shook the marshmallow around, causing it to fling off the stick and into the grass. I stood up and walked over to the small flame in the grass, stomping on it until the flame was extinguished.

Cas lowered his head. "I'm sorry, y/n."

"Cas, don't worry about it." I laughed lightly, realizing the angel had never done such things before, it probably seemed so silly.

As the sun continued to set, we started telling scary stories, mainly ghost stories. It was so much fun having a fire going as our only source of light, in the middle of the woods, a full moon right above us that we could see through the clearing of the trees.

"And as the story goes, the first thing you'll hear is the snapping of sticks beneath its paws. Then, you can hear its breath when it gets real close." I was telling a story about a wolf that was tied to these woods with a curse, describing it kind of like a hellhound.

"Man, that is so... stupid." Dean's voice flooded with sarcasm.

"Ok fine. But when you hear it's claws tearing into the tent, don't come crying to me." I shrugged.

Sam put out the fire, the three of us then zipped ourselves up in the tent for the night. I found my sleeping bag, and happily enclosed myself in the thick sack of warmth. It wasn't hard for me to get comfortable, but I could tell the boys were having a hard time. They shuffled around the nylon ground of the tent, whisper shouting at each other when one would accidentally kick the other. Cas, of course, did not sleep. He sat outside the tent, guarding it in a way.

It was around half way through the night when Sam and Dean were awoken by a sudden noise.

"What was that?" Dean mouthed to Sam. He shook his head, keeping still and trying to listen. That's when they heard a stick snapping in the distance. Dean's eyes widened, he sat up slowly.

"Dude, will you relax... it's probably just an animal." Sam whispered as he watched Dean already gripping his gun tightly.

"Or a damn wolf?!" He justified.

Sam rolled his eyes, turning back over when they heard a low huffing breath. Right next to the tent.

Sam whipped his head back around, signaling to Dean that he in fact heard that one. Dean started to try and unzip the tent as quiet as possible, until a loud ripping erupted on the side of the tent. The two brothers then scrambled to get out of the tent, jostling me around in the process and waking me up.

"Guys, what the hell?!" I yelled out, watching the tent door open. Dean and Sam ran into Cas, nearly knocking him over as they rushed past him. Once they were out in the open, they clicked on their flashlights and held up their weapons in every direction.

"Where is it?!" Dean shouted at anyone.

"Where's what?" I yelled annoyed, poking my head out of the tent. "You're letting the bugs in!!" I closed the tent behind me.

"The cursed wolf! I heard it that time." Sam explained.

"There is no cursed wolf! I was making that shit up as I went."

"B-but the sticks..."

"A-and the breathing...."

"I believe that was my bad." Cas spoke up, putting a stop to the rambling Winchesters'.

"I was trying to find the zipper on the tent, it was dark."

Just then, another snapping noise was heard in the area. Everyone tensed up. Sam shone his light where the noise was coming from, showing a little fox running away. Everyone's eyes fell on the little creature, letting out a big sigh. "Y'all are somethin' else." I huffed, crouching my way back into the tent.

Sam and Dean shared a frustrating look, then turning to Cas. "Cas, why were you coming in the tent?" Sam asked, pocketing his weapon. "I was coming to sit inside, these small insects will not leave my vessel alone." He gestured to the open. Dean let out a small huff.

"Man, I hate camping."

"Me too."

dw christmas special no. i lost track: joy to the world

I went into this with low expectations because I generally don't really like 1) Christmas specials, 2) Moffat, 3) Moffat Christmas specials. Because of these things I also wasn't really paying attention to promo and was pretty much unspoiled for everything besides "time hotel" and "Nicola Coughlan".

Anyway possibly for that reason, this exceeded my (low) expectations and I mostly had fun, lol. Cynicism pays off

Spoilers:

I think this had a lot of the basic problems I have with most Christmas specials, and it speedran through a lot of the cliches that mark them, but... tbh whatever I guess, I mean, there were some enjoyable bits and at this point it's a Christmas special, right, you know what you're getting.

Time Hotel was a very cool idea and was executed pretty well. Put Disney's money to work

Fifteen abruptly having to spend a year waiting was not an angle I anticipated at all, though perhaps I should've. I think at this point "omg I've NEVER done this EVER before" is just so comically untrue it's an inherent eye roll BUT I'm also at a point with this show where I'm like... it's been over 60 years... of course they've done everything. I'll look the other way. It's fine. The Doctor in mundane scenarios is fun when he's not being an asshole about it and Anita and the Doctor were fun to watch. I also appreciated that they addressed the obvious elephant of "call Ruby ffs" lmao. (Or call the other guy who literally has a TARDIS ... but again, I'll give it to 'em.)

Fifteen's angst about being alone doesn't hit quite right because Ruby didn't leave him, he left Ruby behind. I think you can argue he left Ruby behind because he was trying to get ahead of it -- you can't break up with me I'm breaking up with you! -- but, well, in this era of Doctor Who character stuff comes at you fast and you either roll with it or are miserable I guess. Ncuti is very good and that helps a lot

The general plot of "they want to sell a star so they are using a time hotel and will sacrifice Earth to do it" like. Sure. That's fine lmao whatever it's a DW plot it's serviceable

Joy herself was kind of a letdown ... I def felt more of a connection to Anita than to Joy, unfortunately, and as the Anita montage was wrapping I thought why wasn't the whole ep about this... But I did like the mom-died-alone-during-covid reveal and particularly the jab at the tories. I thought that hit. Fuck em.

It's not a Moffat episode without some generalization about human nature that makes absolutely no sense to me and the "hotel rooms reveal who you are as a person" was way up there lmao. Hotel rooms reveal how much disposable income I have at the time of booking actually.

Moffat's humour is hit or miss with me but it was more hit than miss here, I think. The mansplain bits for example made my eyes roll back into my skull but I liked the plunger joke, the TARDIS toys from the internet, I even thought Joy's boner joke was funny lmao

The ending w the star and Bethlehem and stuff ... pretty naff imo but hey it's a Christmas special. I liked the fakeout of Ruby getting a call and it being from her mom too ... I know they'll reunite next season so I don't mind the tease here.

tl;dr I had fun! I could nitpick a lot of this but what's the point. it's Christmas. is this character growth? hm. tbh I think I enjoyed it more than Boom lmao

To the “knuckles is a very popular character” post you made, and as a pretty long-term Sonic fan and Knuckles enjoyer. Given the recent popularity of the series I think it’s really split. I feel like Knuckles recent popularity largely is due to the movies. Before then I just remember it being like… constant mourning? “Knuckles used to be great!” “Knuckles is flanderized and useless now” that sort of thing. But even before then, say, around Generations’ release Knuckles did use to have appreciation around his appearances in the classic media, Sonic Adventures and Sonic X. I feel like he’s a decently well-liked character that’s seen a shift re-focusing on, but generally I feel as if he’s otherwise underrated and low priority in the overall scheme of the fandom. Do bear in mind I’m pretty rusty as a returning fan, and uhh I still need to read the comics to have any statement on that front.

YEAH the thing about how knuckles is a well liked character but isnt a high priority in the fandom is basically what i was trying to say. everyone likes knuckles but it feels like hes always getting pushed to the side anyway compared to other popular characters. like despite being a main character when it comes to fandom stuff it feels like knuckles is stuck as that one side character whos always there but isnt really Doing anything . you know. not as in nobody cares about him just that he doesnt get talked about or made the center of fan content anywhere near as often as other characters do. which nobody has to make knuckles content if they dont want to its not a crime to prefer other characters its just kind of a shame with how cool and interesting he is

also regarding the comics. in terms of more recent stuff knuckles is definitely underutilized in idw sonic. not that there isnt some good stuff in there involving him it just feels like he barely shows up. there have been multiple instances in the main series of knuckles being in a couple issues and then a real life year or two passes before we see him again . (except for maybe some side comics here and there that have him in them but sometimes we dont even get that). which i feel is fine for more supporting characters but for a main character its like . come onnn . i mean i kinda get it hes supposed to be on angel island all the time but stilll i miss knucklessssss

Hello everyone it's time for me to talk about Delit let's goooo

So I think something to know about me and shipping in general is that I only REALLY vibe with it when it's canon compliant/just barely canon divergent OR it's so not explored that I have free reign to do what I want. As much as I'm like "fuck canon do whatever you want" I definitely prefer things to feel within the realm of possibility. (Unless we're talking crossovers and crack ships and whatnot but I'm not usually into those for more than The Bit). I also hate when there's multi ship stuff that actively shits on the main love interest, or fucks with their characterization to turn them into a rival. So the thing that helps both of those things work for me is that at this point in the story, Alek is SO on board with the idea.

Not to make a WLW ship about a man but I think Alek's ability to step out of the picture romantically without it being a Whole Thing is what opens the door for me. If I'm reading Delit, I don't want to read about Alek getting his feelings hurt because he's not the main love interest anymore. That's not why I'm there, you know? (Plus if they do write him getting his feelings hurt, I know their characterization is off-- at this point he's not interested in Deryn romantically and is actively cheering them on in their dating endeavors).

Like I said earlier, the time skips do a lot of the heavy lifting for their relationship here, we don't get to see them getting closer so we can imagine whatever we want. But we already know Lilit likes Deryn. So why shouldn't Deryn like Lilit? They already said that she's really cool and interesting and talented and pretty. Plus the two of them have a lot in common, with the whole dead parents and also breaking societal norms thing. It's fun! It works! You don't even have to twist canon that much! You can still get the whole Clanker/Darwinist thing! And the whole "oh we can't be together" but doing it anyway thing! It's just fun. I like the two of them being clever and adventurous together.

Also I would be remiss if I didn't mention my dear mutual @thequeenpatches who was instrumental to my enjoyment of the ship from 2011-2017. She hasn't been online in YEARS but her writing is excellent, especially her Delit content. I hope she's doing well. Give her blog a look if you're interested in a time capsule of the leviathan fandom from the 2010s, or if you want some good fuckin food.

(Also also Alek/Deryn/Lilit is the first ship I ever went "they've got two hands" about, also due to thequeenpatches's influence. I just think they're neat!)

I don't quite remember all of what I packed into this basket if I'm quite honest. Perhaps the surprise will add to the enjoyment. >>One more thing!!! So, I’m really very skilled in something I like call duct tape maintenance, but also I know that some people like their repairs to be all fancy and seamless. The outside will be as nice and pristine as always!!! But inside on any more major repairs I might use materials like duct tape and stuff to patch things up. I’m also just a pretty good mechanic in general so I can also do neater repairs with all the fancy special-made materials and make it look pretty on the inside too, but functionally it’ll work all the same way and it’s just a cosmetic choice really. Doing it with all the special-made materials will cost more since those are really hard to find for HORUS PGs and C-GW mechs just straight up don’t have them, but I totally get it if you wanna treat your babies more nicely!!!
