I saw people in the UU server discussing how Tella's speakers work, so now I'm gonna give my main hc here since I'm too shy to write it down there directly lmao.

SO. It all started with this extra:

The red part says: "Holes like Nico's" which made me think that, actually, Tella's speakers and Nico's pods work quite similarly:

They both are connected to their brain; the pods allow Nico to store and get information, the speakers allow Tella to transmit his thoughts into words and, on a physical level, both are capable of levitating.

On a meta-level, that could be the reason why Tzk decided to match these two up during spring arc (we didn't have enough information about either of them at the time, that's why I consider it more "meta")

But then, where did Tella get Nico's tech?

Billy got it for him. It's not a confirmation, but my most solid piece of evidence:

Nico and Mico are showing Billy HOW the tech works, Mico literally is holding what I can assume is the blueprint or the dossier about it; and at the parallel, we have Tella (recruiting Rip and Latla). I don't think is a coincidence.

We also know Under had the tech/knowledge to adapt Nico's tech- they made the mechanical arm and goggles that Creed uses and Latla's broom bike. There are also the gates that we never learned how they work (I don't think is an artifact as many believe, mostly because Billy says that using them leaves a "trace of energy" that Union could track; no artifact does this for all that we know).

This leads me to my main hc: Tella's abilities with his speakers aren't related to UnTell, at least not completely. Like Nico use of his pods doesn't require him to use UnForgettable, just his brain power, Tella's speakers, when he uses them to attack or other things besides talking or "stopping", also only uses his brain; he is strong like that.

i don't even know what to say. Apparently my brother has been sending doja cat (singer) recipe links as instagram dms for literal YEARS now because he doesn't know an easy way to bookmark them in the app. Which led to an attempt to save recipes by just linking them to celebrities who he assumes aren't checking their dms anyways. this lifehack got him blocked by mac demarco and lorde however. Doja never blocked or responded so he just continued to use her inbox to save insta recipes. FOR YEARS.

Frankly that's the first personal piece I've drawn in months, and I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful that I was able to feel emotions and wanted to draw something again

I struggle a lot with empathy and understanding of other's feelings and displaying my own but. I hope people will feel something by looking at it, too

I've got inspired by the old tale that we used to read on literature lessons, altho I for the life of me can't remember the name of it, or anything else from the plot for that matter. There were a competition for retrieving the jug from the bottom of the river, where many men tried and failed, as they couldn't reach it. As you can already tell, it was a reflection of the jug that was hanged on a tree all along.

I liked the concept of something unreachable being seen as being very close to you :) hence the whole water situation

generally water is seen as a positive symbol in art but for me it's cold, slippery, you can't see shit in it, misleading and uncomfortable. go figure

and I really like how CL displays yellow as a color with negative connotation while it's classically being the The Most Happy Coded Color Ever.

i hate the idea of sansa ending up as this cold ice queen when through out the books one of her defining characteristics has been kindness. kindness to dontos when joffrey wanted him executed, kindness to the woman with the baby during the riot, kindness to an injured lancel despite cersei's words, kindness through warning margaery of the type of person joffrey is, kindness to sandor clegane and sweetrobin in the vale. sansa even says that once she was queen, she'd wish to rule with kindness when cersei encourages her to rule with fear during the battle of the blackwater. i cant imagine a world where grrm would genuinely go with the idea that only once you refuse love and warmth can you rule

I'm ngl i kinda wish people wouldn't look at a character I create, see that they're mean, and then immediately assume by default they're actually super tragic and a sad woobie. And I'm not even saying this to be like "people need to appreciate 2-dimensional villains!" because I don't agree with those people either.

It's like if a character is a jerk, it either needs to be justified with a sad backstory, or they need to be a saturday morning cartoon villain. it can't just be a part of their personality.

Thinking about human behaviour compared to animal behaviour again.

It's funny to hear people (the older gens) complaining that "kids these days are lazy, they don't wanna work, etc." What do we get for busting our asses? There is no reward. Many will never own homes. Many are unemployed, trying to find work, and nobody will hire them because they don't have a million years experience and a masters degree OR they want people to work for minimum wage??? People are giving up because there is no reward. Why would we do all this for nothing?

Same as a dog that won't recall when you haven't reinforced it with a reward. Your dog isn't going to do what you tell it to if there is no incentive. No, your dog SHOULDN'T listen just because you're boss and it should respect you. That isn't how it works. They don't think that way. And honestly neither do people.

When we went hiking Sprocket wasn't always taking treats gently from me when I recalled her or she checked in and I rewarded and my one friend told me to stop giving her treats. I told him I won't work for free so why should she. And he said "I do things for free all the time because I want to do them," and I didn't say it then, but I wish I had, but if you like doing it, that's the incentive. It's a self-rewarding behaviour. Just like anything else a dog does, like chasing a squirrel or sniffing things or getting into the trash. Heeling instead of going off to sniff stuff or recalling off of something they want to chase is something you have to reinforce. You have to give them something better so they make the choice you want them to make. They won't make it just because they *respect* you. They won't willingly recall off of exciting prey out of RESPECT. You need to give them a tangible reward for that. You cannot possibly expect your dog to listen just because and then punish them for disobeying you.

Yeah, Sprocket bit my fingers a couple times. The one time pretty hard. But she was excited. She knows how to take gently and I reminded her and she tried very hard to be gentle most of the time. I wasn't going to stop rewarding her for checking in with me and recalling while we were off leash hiking in the woods. I want her to know that coming back to me is good and in the event of an emergency I would like her to not blow me off.

saw a post abt J Gordon never being shocked by anyone after Dick's Robin, and I just wanted to add

hear me out: hes absolutely nonpulsed by every single one of them, except Duke.

2nd robin? figures, at least this ones not bubbling w rage.

3rd robin? devestated about the death, but this robin is clearly incredibly trained and intelligent. the most like batman at rhis point. no suprises there.

4th robin (steph): it had to happen at some point. rage reminisent of the 1st robin, hates cluemaster same way 1st hated Zarro

Cass: assassin. hes shocked shes the first assassin in the the crew

5th robin (Damian): of course Batman would turn up w a bio kid at this point. hes not worried. he knows Batman and knows he would never put one kid above another regardless of blood relation. plus after hed seen the kid fawning over a few strays, the kid just want that intimidating

Duke. The Signal. Daylight hero with living parents, more well adjusted (by Bat standards) than anyone else. Good kid, alltogether. Nothing strange about him, he meets him, shakes his hand, and passes over his card with his work and personal phone and a promise that if Duke needs anything, Jim'll do his best to help.

Hes done the same for every single kid in the Batclan, and when he actually gets a call a week later to backup, he calls in every resource he has because Batman is not losing another kid.

They bust the door down on Duke's last known location to find Duke patching up a minor injury, a newly unconscious Riddler a few feet away.

"Hey Commissioner. Didnt know for sure if I had this covered so I called backup just in case- oh, thats a lot of officers-"

Jim falls to his knees and tries to stop his heart palpitations. Of all the many things he expected, he could never have guessed the new kid would have common sense.

TL;DR: Duke has common sense. Gorden doesnt expect that.
