ive said it before and ill say it again: not nearly enough fanworks talk about THIS part of the souyo dynamic, the weird savior complex and trust yu has w adachi directly breaching the trust that yosuke has put on him. not only here, but in the game too, when yu chooses to meet with adachi in the tv world by himself without telling the others, yosuke waits for him outside anyways bc he knew something was up. yosuke feels betrayed by the fact that yu trusts adachi not to kill him right then and there more than he trusts the team to help him, but he still welcomes him back with a smile. because yu is the leader and yosuke will trust in him no matter what, even if it means watching him walk into the mouth of the man who killed the girl he liked, knowing full well it could snap shut at any moment and break his heart all over again.
basically too many souyo fics about internalized homophobia and not enough about all the other weird shit they have going on.

Top 10 dramas of 2020, second half
10. My Dangerous Wife: Korean version of Gone Girl. The first 6 episodes are crazy and it just nice to see some similarities between this one and the US one. Just want the wife to get away with everything and hope her husband suffers or dies, idc 😬❤
9. OCN Train: So a try at a thriller dark mystery with some romance. Now i reallllly liked the leads a lot and was even more invested when they introduced the parallel world. Granted the last 2 episodes kinda went downhill but overall i reallly enjoyed it
8. Still 2gether: A shorter run than its prequel but much more mature and had them as a establish couple. Loved seeing what happens after happily ever after and the problems that arise and how they both deal with them. LGBT romance done and written pretty well.
7. Tale of the Nine Tailed.. Now this was a surprise because i was trashing this show before it aired. The CGI is not so great but the actors and characters make up foe that in their chemistry. Loved the batshit crazy female lead so much (shes always ready to stab a bitch even her own mom). Tbh im not thatttt invested in the romance for the lead but its cute. Also Lee Tae Ri being back for a villain role was so right.. So right.
6. 18Again... Now imma just say it i didn't reallly like this show but the way they had Kim Ha Neul and Lee Do Hyun together was pure genius. I only watched their scenes and my big teeth bf Wi Ha Joon. Sorry to Yoon Sang Hyun but he just isn't my cup of tea, especially after Ms.Perfect where he played the worst husband in tv history
5. SF8: The Prayer.. I still get so heated inside from this episode. Just insane story telling in only just one hour. Lee Yoo Young plays two roles and they also mix god into technology in a very interesting way. The highlight of this was when lee yoo young playing both characters created chemistry with herself, one as a human and one as a robot. Just crazy how she did that.
4. Penthouse: High budget ass dramas. They came to give everything and that includes a star cast. 90% of the characters are all rich and terrible people who do anything somehow to gain even more money and power that they have... miss lee ji ah is the star player here starting from a damaged housewife who gentle to a mastermind checkmate player whos is in charge of giving revenge while still having everyone be clueless that she's gonna destroy them
3. I told Sunset About You: lgbt stand up!!!! The best thai show of 2020 and just soo fucking good. The writing and production is insane. They really went to give us a proper tv show with amazingly realistic gay characters. The way the leads can create such longing and yearning without words is truly one of a kind. They have many scenes where they just smell each other or touch each other. It just so passionate and touches the heart.
2. The School Nurse Files: Say hello to the kdrama of the year. 6 episodes of feeling like you did a line of cocaine. Yumi plays a fucking awesome character who just weird and i love how they don't try to change her or make her more pleasant. Now sir Nam Joo Hyuk just hit his peak in this one. This was such a different character than any other ones he played before. He just had this special spark in this. Like we won't ever get this from him ever again. I am praying for a season 2 cause i feel like they did rush it but the budget is expensive so who knows. But its definitely a show u want to rewatch so many times.
AND NUMBER 1 GOES TO NONE OTHER THAN: CHERRY MAGIC!
A 12 episode drama about two office workers who slowly fall due to the fact that Adachi becomes a 30 year old virgin and gains the ability to read minds through physical contact. 2 very different characters that fall in love but in such a timed manner. Everything feels natural and so well put together. In ways the character's help each other in dark times that they both didn't know how much they mean to each other. I love how simple it is in terms of how its a gay drama and the issue of being lgbt isn't such or even treated as a problem. It's just two guys falling in love.
Loved how Japan created some very awesome lgbt shows. Really looking forward to some of the movies they had suppose to come this year but was pushed back due to covid. Thailand has gotten better as well for their lgbt( and we are getting a i told sunset about you season 2).
Korea worst year for dramas i gotta say. I watch some many show on 2x speed its ridiculous lol.

zhao + kiroranke
god bless you for letting me talk about kiroranke i love you. zhao first though. im putting this under a cut bc its long
zhao
sexuality hc: that man is gay i think i dont know if gay or bi but he loves men
gender hc: to me he is transgender and just has a completely fucked gender overall. however to the fanbase at large i will call him cis because the he/they jokes because of his fashion are getting old and annoying
a ship: nobody. except han joon-gi because narrative parallels or whatever but i arleady talked about it in the ask about han joon-gi so i won’t say it again. but really i just think zhao is getting used to like having proper friends because he clearly didnt have many at all before meeting the party and i dont think hes all that interested in romance anyways
brotp: well the whole party obv. i think zhao and adachi can have funny potential and they have really really funny interactions in their party chats that makes me laugh. zhao enjoys cooking for all of his friends
notp: like. everyone. ig particularly zhao/ichi because that weirds me out
random hc: he taught saeko how to use a bo staff and she fucking loves it. i also  think he has shit vision and those big round glasses are like actually necessary and sometimes they get knocked off in a fight and its like velma from scooby doo voice my glasses i cant see without my glasses
general opinion: he is my funny friend <3 his combat makes me smile and so does him in general
- kiro time. there are some vaguely spoilerish things in here for those of my friends who are reading through gk but i tried to keep everything as vague as possible
sexuality hc: bisexy <3
gender hc: i think hes got a bit of a fucked gender but is in general more towards being a binary man. shout out to him for being able to grow a beard since he was 15 years old.
a ship: him and me. no i mean like hes married and has children.  and besides that the only people in the cast that are around his age are like. tsurumi or wilk. i mean sophia too but theres just too much going on. im being vague bc of spoielrs for whoever else is reading this but i think you catch my drift
brotp: um him and ogata are funny as fuck during like karafuto arc because both are being insane if you think about it. oh also kiro and shiraishi are friends too i think like shiraishi seemed really kind of upset after chapter 190 or whenever That happened so id like to think theyre decently close.
notp: like everybody. this man is married and has children. i think this ask game is not geared towards people like me because i dont really ship
random hc: i think he would have a nice singing voice. also this is more canon really but i think he would have been perfeclty happy to spend his life raising horses where he grew up if there hadnt been a problem of russian imperialism/dying culture/ etcetc. also i think that his grandmother (or whichever one of his relatives was the karafuto ainu one idr) was the one who gave him the name kiroranke long before he even left home. however in his head he still thinks of himself as his tatar name.
general opinion: i love him i love him so much he is my handsome wife who blows people up so well. i think that he was not wrong to get [redacted] shot however he does have terrible timing and makes a lot of enemies in general so maybe toning back the crazy a litlte. would be a good thing. but i love him so much

this came up in a chat; is it possible the P5 team intentionally avoided keeping P5's lore in line with the rest of the series to avoid confusing new fans and also the new writers on the team? Especially after how much had happened in the spin offs and wanting P5 to really be its own thing like how P3 and 4 were their own things before the spin offs?
Hmmmm I....don’t....think so......tbh......... I mean it MIGHT but....I don’t think so....It’s interesting but....yeah...... (under the cut cause ya know I ramble~! ;w;)
I mean the fact that P5′s lore by itself, without the context of past games, is a flaming mess....again...by itself.....(quick/rushed ex: If your cognition changes then the world changes! And Futaba acknowledges that thing isn’t her mom so it should go-oh it’s not going? We’re....we’re fighting it? But cognition..... this doesn’t make any sense! ;w;) Really makes me feel that there was just not a lot of communication with the writers and editors. P5 iirc had a lot of veteran writers, it had 3 main scenario writers actually: the person who wrote P3 and one of the writers for P4 (P4 had two, P3 only had two because of FeMC’s route and that came later), some other guy (might’ve worked on previous games but first being a head writer), and Hashino (the first and only Persona game he had a part in writing instead of just directing).
But on top of that, they had other writes that I believe were also veterans, so I don’t think it’s new writers all around, I think it was them.......doing what they did with Ultimax.....having too many cooks making the soup (which was Ultimax’s undoing, but at least it made some sense lore wise........it was just the quality of the writing that was horrendous~! :D ;w; P5 it’s both, lore and quality)
There’s also the fact they have a lot of similarities and knowledge of previous games: Parallels of ripping off of P1/2/4, heavy references to P(1?)/2/3/4, ideas that even came up in spinoff games (like Haru’s half awakening, Labby experienced the same thing). I think they are very much aware of their old material and even has lore that is in line with the rest of the series: Shadow selves having Yellow eyes established in P4 (which those SS’s are different than P2′s shadows b4 any1 says anything 8U) and the half awakening as mentioned, hell in retrospect a lot of things that could be explained as cognition in P1-4 finally have a term they can use (ironically they keep those ideas simple compared to P5 trying to be cool and complex with them, but even if P5 botched it-it’s nice to have a darn term for P1-4 DX), Mental Shutdowns basically being Apathy Syndrome (and should be called AS to the public/in the game, the different term is only for the benefit of the player since we know the primary difference between the two is the cause but the effects are the exact same), Palaces basically being TV World dungeons....and so on. There’s more but I’ll keep the list short.
I don’t think they have to worry about feeling like their “own game” tbh, I do think it’s always hard with a new idea, but I don’t think they struggled with trying to make P5 it’s “own thing.” They were able to do it with P1/2/3/4 till now, I don’t see why they couldn’t with this one (which obvie they did). It’s not like they are making a continuation (original trilogy is a bit special but yeah) that’s only for spinoffs (and even then....barring Ultimax and maybe P5S, they try to act as if you might not have played the other games), so all they have to do is introduce or reintroduce terminology (like the half awakenings or shadow selves or just shadows/personas) as if it’s the person’s first time playing it and they’re good. 8U So the lore should be about as sturdy as the previous games but......yeah >.>
The only thing I can see the writer’s team avoid is the year date (still stupid but blame P5 taking so long to get out).....which they’ll have to confront at some point tbh unless they plan to skip a P3/4/5 Arena type game. Only thing I can see them doing is maybe making P5 an alt timeline like P2EP/P3/P4 and P2EP/P3P.....but considering Rise still being an idol.....it def seems like P5 is on P4′s timeline (even if we were to split hairs on the Adachi reference being a fictional drama and not a dramatization of Adachi’s crimes, Rise def wouldn’t still be an idol if not for P4.....because........remember she quit? yeah...) I mean they could still do it, it just means explaining a looooooooooooooooot of stuff. 8U And while it’d be cool multiverse wise, I feel it’d rob us of a Shadow Ops/IT vs PT showdown that should totally happen and if it doesn’t I’m suing Atlus for wasted potential. >8U
-ahem- but yeah......I think it’s more of too many cooks, esp since there’s still some seasoned cooks from previous games on the writing team......I have a list I’ve been working on, I’ll try to finish and publish it sometime so we can see just how many there are and how many worked on the other games
