updating again because i like this post. i keep going to the gym but i also keep getting nerfed by getting sick / having a natural hedonistic disposition but i am seeing progress! i got a more consistent job which still doesnt pay very well but its much better for me. and im still learning the drums but im feeling it and enjoying it a lot <3. also my friends still havent killed each other yet
this term im gonna keep going to the gym and im gonna learn the drums and im going to land any one of these countless jobs ive applied for and im going to do good in my classes and my friends arent going to try to kill each other again and it WILL Be fine.
#absolutely destroyed my body in the gym for the last 3 days though and actually everything hurts#also the drums is exacerbating an ambiguous joint problem in my wrist. but im ignoring that for now

So today I watched this interview with the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast and they demonstrate the phenomenon "space ship acting"
and they all go
and it just cracks me up, ESPECIALLY Sir Patrick Stewart

Like a lot of people warned, Texas has now introduced a bill to ban all trans healthcare at any age.
It is literally the same bill they used against minors, but with "child" replaced with "person".
At the same time, Iowa is passing a bill to remove civil rights protections from trans people, legalizing discrimination
Again: It was never about protecting children. It was about getting their foot in the door towards increasingly extreme and genocidal policies. This was obvious from the start and they even admitted to it more than once, but the media continuously underplayed it and pretended it was reasonable.

Coming across these numbers is heart-wrenching on levels I can't even begin to describe.

You don't have to like weed but I find people who are vehemently anti-weed but claim to be left leaning infuriating. If you go into a rage because you smelled someone smoking pot, how the fuck do you expect to form community with people addicted to meth? It's easier to say you hate smokers than to say you hate all drug users in leftist spaces because one makes you sound a bit like a square while the other is the writing on the wall. You aren't anti-weed, you're anti-drug user and anyone who uses substances is not safe around you.

Prince is underrated as a musician to be honest. How many guys do you know can play every instrument on a track? Have you ever heard his guitar solos? His 90s experiments with hip hop? This man can play every genre well. There’s few musicians who can dream of achieving what Prince did in his lifetime.

georgia SB390 seeks to cut ties to any library that is associated with the american library association. the american library association is the ONLY accrediting insitution that the state of georgia recognizes. so, SB390 seeks to essentially do away with librarians--and, thus, libraries--completely. the rationale behind this is that libraries are "marxist" in that they are a free public service and they provide information.
another bill, SB394 seeks to introduce a "rating system" to public AND school libraries that will "cut down on inappropriate books distributed to minors." we can all see where this is going.

Personally I love HDB as a man struggling to relate to the world around him in a way that doesn't make him want to end it all. A man who looks at his surroundings and his place within them and thinks there has to be a better way, or there must be a way out, but he can't find one. I could enjoy this as a precursor to him discovering a transgender identity but I think handing him a minority status kind of sidesteps the problem the story really wants to talk about. Like him being bisexual is already a decent avenue to explore his deviance from the norms of the culture he exists within, as it is a touchstone with which he COULD connect with people if he could Truly leave his context behind. But the context is the problem. He's a cop. And he will continue to be a cop until he decides that being anything else is more important to him than being a cop. And after he's done being a cop he will have to contend with Having Been A Cop. Because the context matters. And that's why the narrative doesnt vindicate him when you make him a communist. His revolutionary politics are comical. Because he's either an idiot fascist or he's the greatest hypocrite that anyone could ever be

near every fucking party in europe has moved to the right on immigration and are willing to sacrifice both undocumented people and documented/turned citizen immigrants to appease the far right hysteria. wake up, this is the issue of our lifetime, this is what we need to fight for, especially as climate change accelerates and makes much of the third world uninhabitable and as companies use undocumented labour as slavery. this is our hill to die on
