new poll 'cause i'm feeling quirky :]
I was going to put "hot dog" on the list (a piece of bread with some ketchup and mustard and maybe relish with a hot dog placed inside) but it's actually somewhat decent.
Also all bread in this situation is multigrain!
#polls#sandwich poll#look I'm just curious#I've suffered too many tomato sandwiches to have to never speak of them again#not on the list:#balogne sandwich (a piece of balogne and mustard)#leftovers sandwich (unseasoned meat with mustard)#the âshould I even eat thisâ (questionably raw meat with mustard)#the âisn't this plasticâ (balogne with processed cheese slice and mustard. you could keep the plastic on the cheese and it taste the same)#the âi traded everything for thisâ (the butter and ham sandwich someone at school would give me. a solid 3 cm of butter)#the âi want to dieâ (a sandwich that someone else made and put in the fridge that might be moldy. Sad! oh well!)#anywayss i'm curious. also you can share shitty sandwiches you ate growing up too.#see compared to these the tuna melts were sosososo good#however i also used to take dares from other people at school to eat weird combinations JUST so i'd have food at school lol#because idk WHERE people are but none of the many schools I went to had cafeterias or gave out food?? like what??#if you were really lucky sometimes you could go down and get a snack bar or a squishy orange but that's it. there's no food at school#only what you bring#etc etc i am so normal :]

Little things // Alexia Putellas
headcannons
The little things Alexia and you do while being absolutely in love with one another
car and driving around
Alexia always opens the door for you
Sheâs the driver while youâre the passenger princess
She insists on hearing your playlist, even though you both have a shared playlist (she knows you love your playlist)
you kiss her temple/ cheek at every red light
Sheâs getting you some flowers in the time youâre at your appointment (she insists on driving you everywhere)
having a water bottle and snacks in the car, just in case
in the kitchen
Alexia helping you the best she can but ends up admiring you from the bar stool or hugging you from behind as she whispers compliments in your ear
when itâs her turn with cooking, she only cooks things you love
Also she lets you try everything before serving and vice versa
"The chef deserves a kiss now "
She makes sure the table is set perfectly and the atmosphere is tranquil
Dinning with you is very important to her, so she makes sure not to mention work or anything that causes stress, she likes to keep the calm and lovely atmosphere
with her family
having a hand on your thigh under table, also drawing patterns on the back of your hand when you intertwine your fingers
one time, you dropped your fork, so within seconds her hand was covering the corner of the table, so you wouldnât hurt yourself while picking up the cutlery
She loves the bond you have with her family, even though the mocking and teasing of you and Alba can be a pain in the ass.
Kisses always make up for it
"Iâm going to marry her" she tells her mother
Her family already knows because they can see it in her eyes when she looks at you
And they also know youâll say yes because they see the look in your eyes when you look at Alexia
You two are the perfect match
Her mother loves you
Her sister does too
at night
You wear her clothes, she loves the sight
both of you sleep better when youâre with/next to each other
Alexia always has an arm around you, in the need of protecting you
you cuddle into her, legs tangled together, arms around each other
sometimes sheâs the big spoon and sometimes you are, it depends on the mood
when she canât sleep, youâll scratch her back and sheâs in a slumber in an instant
During off days youâll stay up till the early hours, just talking, giggling, stating random facts or debating the newest gossip
soft snores filling the room
Alexia often wakes up before you, though she doesnât make any signs of leaving the bed before youâre up
If she has to get up though, sheâll kiss your forehead and promise to be back soon and wishing you a good day
football
youâre not a professional footballer (you had to google the rules after Alexia had told you sheâs a pro) though she likes to think you are as she puts you in goal when the two of you are training together
'training together' - she begs you to join her training routines, ends up convincing you with kisses
Itâs enough to see her pout
you canât resist her pout
-
watching random football matches at home
Alexia puts a jersey on the bed before each home game, so you have something to wear for the stadium
'Alexia' and '11' on your back making her heart flutter
Your heart bursts with pride every time you see her walking out of the tunnel
Cheering for her
always in the stadium at home games and at important away games (champions league final, etc)
youâre her biggest supporter
Alexia makes sure football and you are balanced - she never puts football above you but sheâs still ambitious and always gives 101% to be the best
Youâre always impressed by Alexia, her talent is phenomenal
Alexia enjoys impressing you
-
at first Alexia used to shut you out after a lost match
over time she learns to let her guard down
you make her feel loved and appreciated
She can let her walls down around you and likes to think that itâs okay to be vulnerable sometimes (you assure her that it always is)
after won matches only happy things happen; nice dates, kisses, relaxed evening, etc
the achievement jar
One evening, after Alexia had scored two goals and an assist, you brought up the idea
Itâs been in the back of your mind since awhile but only now the mini marble footballs had arrived
won game? One marble in the jar
Alexia scored a goal? one marble
Alexia scored two goals? two marbles
Alexia assisted a goal ? one marble
won trophy? three marbles in the jar
and so on
when the jarâs filled Alexia gets a big big surprise. Such as special days with massages, literally anything to show her how proud you were and how much she deserved
Yes, you still had date nights which were also special but the achievement-appreciation-days were just a tiny bit more special
Alexia loves it
So do you
your job
Alexia supports you on every step of the way to your dream job
After a long and exhausting day, Alexia hugs you, runs you a bath, anything that makes you feel relaxed and appreciated
Sheâs your date to any work event (vice versa)
Alexia has all of your (important) meetings and appointments in her calendar
If you have to study, Alexia makes sure not to bother/distract you yet also always making sure that you stay hydrated and take some breaks
future
Both of you have your future planned together
Alexia dreams of marrying you, she has the ring hidden in her football drawer because she knows youâd never look there
You talked about getting a dog, both of you really liking the thought. You just couldnât agree on which breed (yet)
private proposal
wedding just like you dreamt of as a kid
happy tears spilling out of your eyes as you see each other for the first time
best day of your life
amazing honeymoon
Both of you never taking of your rings
Alexia taping it for her matches
her new celebration is to kiss her ring after scoring
kids, if you want them
The future bright and welcoming as you continue to share the perfect marriage
youâll never stop loving each other

MY LIBRARY. REQUESTS ARE OPEN! TO BE ADDED TO MY TAGLIST, YOU CAN SEND ME A MESSAGE.
There was something about him.
Park Sunghoon was the image of something so mysterious â yet, so captivating. His eyes held something deeper than what he tries to convey. You tried to hard to look away, but his actions, his stance â they command attention.
So much, that they commanded yours.
He has been a constant, a regular at the bar that you're working in every weekend to make ends meet. He was the hot bachelor that belonged in the upper VIPs that usually had a secluded room where they could share small talk over top shelf drinks.
Your first encounter with Park Sunghoon was when Byeol called in sick, and that meant you took over her shift as the personal-hired entertainer at Room 130.
"Please, Y/N," Byeol pleaded through the phone, coughing as her voice scratched against her throat, "if I could, I would. I'll take over your shift for the next week. You'll have my pay for tonight."
Now, additional income is something that is very difficult to shake off, no matter how it takes a night that consists of Neoguri noodles off of your schedule.
You wore your signature red cocktail dress, one that hugs all your right proportions beautifully, but not too tight, with a slit that doesn't go too up high on your thigh. Matched with a wave that's swept to the side, it is a no-brainer that the four men of Room 130 didn't even ask where their usual entertainer, Byeol, is.
"What a pretty face," Jake comments as he takes a sip of his armagnac, his eyes travelled down to your legs, but went back to your face, "nice voice, too." He adds.
Sunghoon was late, muttering an excuse that was along the lines of: his mother made him stay for a supposed meet-up with someone.
"Mommy's still on it?" Heeseung jokes, grabbing some of the snacks on the table, shaking his hand to remove the residue of it before pouring it to his mouth.
Sunghoon sends a look over Heeseung's way, making the oldest boy chuckle, "Well, you have to follow mommy's orders, or else, you're gonna whine about how your daily allowance has been reduced to half."
The rest of the boys chuckled, alongside the girls that were in the room to hold them company. Sunghoon was not the most pleased, he knew that Heeseung is right. He has to find a lady or else he will be arranged to a wedding just to keep up his expenditures and his lifestyle.
"Who's the girl?" Jay asks as he places his hand on the small of the back of the lady that sat on his lap, his eyes on the girl that giggled as she kept on tracing the edge of Jay's jawline.
"I don't know," Sunghoon grunted, eager to down a shot that was already on the table, "all I know is I have to find a partner ASAP, or else, I'll be wed to someone I could care less about."
That was when his eyes landed on you, singing a song softly as you held your vintage microphone. His eyebrows perched up slightly, and he smiled to himself.
Now, it has been approximately the fifth consecutive week that Sunghoon had tried to talk to you, alone, on your supposed shift at the public part of the bar.
Sweeping past through sweaty bodies as well as people that are drunk off their minds, Sunghoon was determined to at least know you better. It only took one song and one damn dress to catch Sunghoon's attention.
Lucky for him, he had caught your attention, too.
The thing was, you had a boyfriend â well, a roommate, if you will. Since love was obviously out the window, and that you were trying to sustain each other's stay in your apartment that has its contract nearing its end by the end of December.
Well, another reason was that your then-boyfriend was still trying to win you back.
And while you're certain that you're over him and is keeping him at bay for benefits, he certainly was not, and it somehow was making you guilty that you're somehow leading him on even when it was Sunghoon's face that you think of whenever you press your bullet vibrator against your clit, leaving out broken, breathy moans that underestimated how much you think you're going to moan for Sunghoon if time permits you.
Which brings you to here, a never-ending cat and mouse game that you have established with Sunghoon, who clearly was so head-over-heels for you.
The ordeal was simple: you, one of the bar's beloved entertainers, would finish a song that you sing and dedicate for Sunghoon, but wander off with a smile as you try and find yourself a suitable man vying for your attention. It was effective for you to make him jealous and demand your attention on him for the next hours.
Sunghoon had never gone past the eating only the third base, and Sunghoon was more than willing to eat your pussy on hours end. And you were willing to let him go past that, if only you haven't seen the ring that adorned his left hand, snug tight around his ring finger.
It was a stark reminder of how he was not for you, just how you are starting to become his.
"You sing here often?"
"I do," You'd giggle to whoever this guy's name is, you really didn't know, nor even tried remembering. You were sure it wasn't his name that you'll be screaming in the bathroom stalls of the bar.
"I should bo-"
"Then I'd want to book you, privately," Sunghoon cut the guy off, his voice reeking of jealousy and authority as he stood behind you, your back flushed against his chest.
"Ya," the boy raised his voice and poked Sunghoon's blue sweater tank top, "do you mind? We're talking here."
"And I'm talking to her, as well," Sunghoon responded, his eyes crinkling into amusement, "do you not want to talk to me, baby?" He pouts at you, nuzzling his chin to your neck as he leaves light kisses on it, making you gasp.
"I.." You trail off, biting your lip as your eyes moved back and forth between the guy and Sunghoon.
"I'm not wasting my time on this," the guy raised his hands in defeat, backing away, leaving you with the guy that you have tried to flirt indirectly through the night.
"Fancy seeing you here against sweaty bodies," You giggle as you turn around and wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him down teasingly to have his lips over yours, to which Sunghoon growled and pushed his lips on yours, immediately pushing his tongue inside your mouth as his hands dug on the curves of your waist.
"You drive me so fucking crazy," he whispers to your lips, in which you hum as a response. Not a long while after, you're being guided to one of the restrooms, his lips now attacking your neck to leave noticeable bruises that you're trying to cover up before you go to your morning shift at the local library of your town.
He pushes you to an empty restroom, not minding to lock it as he cages you in between his body and the sink. âAre you having fun?â He suddenly asks as he pools your dress up your hips and starts rubbing you through your wet panties, âPlaying with me, are you having fun?â
You looked at him through lidded eyes and nod, âI do,â you say as you bite your lip, spreading your legs wide, âI like it when youâre so crazy for me.â
He grunts and kneels down, pulling your panties down as his nose is immediately wafted off by the smell of your arousal spreading throughout your core, âSo wet for me, the guy did that to you?â He spoke as his thumb pressed on your bare clit, making you shudder.
âN-no,â you squeaked out, holding on the sink behind you, âit has always been you.â
âAlways been me?â Sunghoon chuckles as he blows air to your sensitive cunt, âI donât know, babe, Iâm starting not to believe it given how many times Iâve practically pulled you off against men who are thirsting over you.â
Not leaving you any moment to respond, Sunghoon attaches his lips to your sensitive nub, moaning at your familiar taste that he had been obsessed with.
Moaning his name, you immediately hold on his hair, tightening your grip on his soft, brown-black hair, to which Sunghoon tuts as he pulls away, his thumb replacing his lips as he presses and rubs circles on your clit, âYou donât get to touch me, princess.â
Grasping your wrist, Sunghoon had practically forced your hand off his hair, placing it on the sink behind you to continue his ministrations on your pussy.
âLove this pussy so much,â he breathes out, poking his tongue out to fuck your hole with, âso pretty, could get in this forever.â
You moaned in response, desperate to cum just by Sunghoonâs fingers alone. Instinctively, your hands went to play with your breasts, pulling your dress straps down to pool on your arms, you bit your lip as you pinched and flicked your nipples, mimicking the way Sunghoon does it when he was mouthing your tits instead of your pussy.
Sunghoon looked up at you and smirked, sneaking in a hand between your legs to spread your labia apart, forcing his tongue deeper into you as he shook his head sideways, nose prodding against your clit, mouth leaving out noises, making sure that anyone could walk in the unlocked restroom and catch you both in such sinful act.
With buckled knees, you started to grind on his tongue, your mind dancing on the quick release that you felt was bubbling at the pits of your stomach, âY-you eat pussy so fucking good.â
âThatâs where Iâm best at, babe,â Sunghoon winks at you, pushing his middle finger inside you after tracing your hole with it, âand can you blame me? Your pussy tastes like heaven.â
âO-oh!â You squeaked out, feeling your orgasm could come if Sunghoon continued this. And as if Sunghoon knows how to push your buttons, he adds a second finger, then a third, his tongue now dancing on your clit as he panted against your core.
âFuck - shit, Sunghoon!â You exclaim as you push his face to your core, panting as you whine, eyes screwed shut with your other arm failing to hold on the counter, regardless of how dry the sink it may be, body convulsing as you cum on Sunghoonâs face.
Sunghoon happily licked through your folds, slurping your cum messily and noisily. He stood up with your cum glistening on his lips, his mouth sporting the smuggest grin that made you want to kiss his face silly.
âDamn,â you breathed out, leaning toward his chest to ground yourself.
âWeâre not done yet.â
Needless to say, Sunghoon made sure that you could cum thrice from his fingers and mouth alone.
The following week, you were in the same position â however, instead of your hand holding on the sink, it was Sunghoonâs, with his other hand fisting your hair as he holds you still while he fucks your mouth to prove a point.
âSo f-fucking warm,â Sunghoon grunted, his balls trodding against your chin as he kept on cursing, too lost in the bliss of your mouth taking him tightly, mimicking a virgin pussy.
With blood almost drawn on his lips, Sunghoon lets out a guttural groan as he pushes you against his pelvis, his penis bullying its way on your throat as strings of warm cum painted your throat.
âShould get you jealous more often,â Sunghoon comments as he regains his breathing, âsuch a desperate slut you become once you start reminding me whose pussy my dick belongs to.â
Before you could respond, the tall boy pushes his lips against yours hungrily, tongue immediately poking inside to start a tongued kiss with you, cupping both of your cheeks, he made sure you arenât going anywhere.
âThighs,â you started, too overtaken by lust, but Sunghoon heard it, he held your face with one hand to force you to look at him, âYour thighs, Sunghoon, I want to-â
âYeah? Wanna grind on it, pretty?â
You nod, anything that could have you feeling him against your throbbing core, âPlease,â you pleaded, grabbing his wrist to make you suck on his ring-clad finger, âwant it, so much.â
Sunghoon almost lets out an animalistic growl as he pulls you to one of the stalls. He reaches behind you to lock it before turning around and places the seat down, sitting on it before urging you to straddle him.
Pooling your dress over your lap, you did as you were instructed. Hanging both arms around his neck, you stood up to pull your panties down, the slight string of arousal visible from the cloth.
On the other hand, Sunghoon already had his pants and boxers discarded, his angry cock lay erect against his stomach. You licked your lips and straddled him again, your legs on either side of his thighs, thigh-grinding long forgotten.
Both of you hissed as your pussy made contact with his dick, and soon enough, you were both a grinding mess, your grinds interrupted by humps as you groped your tits, your head thrown back as you continue to moan Sunghoonâs name.
âYeah, moan that n-name, heâs y-yours, isnât he?â Sunghoon hissed, his hair all over his face before leaning down to suck on your free boob that has been exposed from the tubing of the dress that was pulled down by you prior.
âMhm, heâs mine!â You squealed as you hit your high just in the same time as the pale boy youâre sat on.
âFuck,â you chuckled.
âDamn,â Sunghoon said breathlessly before kissing your lips and leaning his forehead against yours.
It was the first time he kissed you on the forehead after hooking up.
Last, last weekâs hookup session with Sunghoon has all become youâve ever thought about as you placed the books on the shelves, pausing every now and then as you daydream of it.
It has been two weeks since Sunghoon had shown up in the bar that youâre working at every weekends.
And while you hoped that he could at least sweep in to wave or send a smile your way. But Friday had gone, so has Saturday, even Sunday - no signs of Sunghoon.
His absence seemed to gnaw on you as you started to search for him during weekdays at your off-duties, but none. No sign of Sunghoon.
And you canât even text him, since he hadnât given his number, and you didnât, too.
Youâve found his Instagram page, but it has never been updated apart from the photo of a golf course which he had posted four days ago. Stories didnât also help, as he never updates his stories. DMs are off, and the only way to contact him was through e-mail.
E-mailing him had crossed your mind the moment it reached Thursday, you were so close to losing your mind that you didnât even care whether or not to message him through his work e-mail, regardless of the possibility that anyone within the network could see it.
âThatâs too much of a thought,â said a voice that startled you. Turning around, you saw the infamous Sunghoon leant agains the bookshelves, arms crossed, mouth adorning a soft smirk that youâve grown to love.
âPlease, I bet youâre thinking Iâm thinking of you,â you snorted as you continued sorting the books, eyes not meeting his as his gaze challenged you.
âWell, I donât even have to bet. I know youâre thinking of me whether you admit it or not,â Sunghoon countered.
âWhat an ego,â you muttered as you rolled your eyes, disappointed by his sudden absence for two weeks, even without giving you a notice as to why.
âWhere are you off to, tonight?â He asked out of nowhere.
âHome, as usual.â
âMy place?â
âNo, what do you mean?â
âYou said you were going home?â
âSince when had your place been my home?â
âAre you willing for it to be?â
âSunghoon, what?â You furrowed your eyebrows at him, looking at him as if he had three heads in one body.
âIâm serious, stay with me.â
âSunghoonââ
âI donât take no for an answer.â
âSunghoon!â
âWhat a noisy librarian do I have here,â Sunghoon smirked, âI like it when youâre noisy though.â
With an exasperated sigh, you pulled Sunghoon at the back of the library, âWhat are you doing, Park Sunghoon?â
âFull name? Ouch,â he placed a hand on his heart.
âSunghoon,â you said through gritted teeth.
âLetâs go home,â he said instead of answering your questions, pulling you by your arm to the direction of his car that has been parked in front of the library.
Now, it was supposed to be just a talk. A negotiation between you and Sunghoon to finally end whatever it was between you both, both your heart and mind exasperated by the uncertainty that was brought about by you and him.
But here you are, biting your lip as Sunghoon kissed you on your neck, alternating between kissing, licking, and sucking, as he kept your hips pinned down by the grip of his hands on it.
âStop moving,â he demanded, looking at you with such fire in his eyes whenever you bucked your hips up onto him.
âNeed you,â you whined out, desperate to grind on him again, this time, you were hoping that it would last long and be much more comfortable than the last time that you did in the stalls.
âI know, sweetie,â Sunghoon smirked before sitting up to grab his black necktie which he had on his nightstand, âThis okay?â He asked as he raised the necktie before you, insinuating a plan that he had in mind.
With a nod and a verbal agreement, Sunghoon wrapped the blindfold around your head before pulling away to see you in your totality: laid back, eyes covered by the velvet cloth of his necktie, and naked â all just for him.
âGod, youâre so beautiful,â Sunghoon comments as he grabbed the cloth ropes that dangled on the edge of the headrest, grabbing it with a smirk, he hoists your arms up, making you gasp, as he tied it to the to the headboard.
He tested whether the knot was tight or just right, before peering down at you and cupping your cheeks as he leaned down to kiss on you.
Adjusting his body, Sunghoon left a trail of kisses from four face down to your nipple, before swirling his tongue around your sensitive nub. Pulling back, he grabbed the cold glass of champagne that sat on the trolley by his bed. Grabbing a small ice cube from the bucket of the bottle, he circled the ice around your nipple, earning a gasp from you.
"Cold, isn't it?" He questioned before leaning down again to give your other breast attention, and after a while, he switched places, giving you the same amount of pleasure from the cold and his warm mouth alone.
He trailed the melting ice cube down your body, making you shiver at how the cold trail was instantly replaced by his warm lips as he kissed you along the wet path of the melted ice cube.
"You and your pretty body," he whispers before grabbing another ice cube again, this time, he placed it on his tongue, letting the cold replace the warmth of his tongue.
Peering down between your legs, he crawled down until he was face near your core, making you sigh in anticipation, it was moments like this that you craved for Sunghoon to speed up his actions. It was no lie that Sunghoon ate pussy pretty good, and sometimes, you think, how good could he be when he finally has his dick inside you?
Sunghoon pokes his cold tongue against your hole, making you squeal as your legs thrashed up in surprise. He grinned as he gave kitten licks to your core, his hands pushing your legs far apart before diving into your cunt.
Moans and groans and the occasional noise from Sunghoon's licking on your core were all that could be heard in his bedroom. He kept his eyes on you, basking in your reactions before he inserted his middle and ring finger inside you, contrasting the coldness of his tongue.
"Fuck! I love your m-mouth," you whimpered out, wriggling from the overwhelming feeling that only Sunghoon had managed to get out from you.
"Always f-fucking my pussy with that m-mouth so, g-good - Sunghoon!" you exclaimed as you came on his mouth without warning, Sunghoon humming as he licked through your folds, mimicking the noise of that a happy man.
He straightened up and freed his aching cock from the restraints of his trousers and boxers, hissing as his dick slapped against his stomach before hovering over you again to tip your chin up for a messy kiss.
Sunghoon licked into your mouth before prodding it open so he could spit into it, "Swallow," was all he said before you closed your mouth and opened it in front of him to show him that you did what was told.
The boy groans as he places his dick in between your folds, setting his pace as he starts from something that's agonizingly slow, drawing out a pained whimper from you.
"Hoonie, want your cock."
"Yeah?" he breathed out, picking up his pace, "you already have it been your legs, pretty."
"No," you shook your head, "want it."
"Want it, where?" he starts to slow down without much thought as he dawns realization to what you said.
"Cock, Hoonie, w-want it inside me."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, fuck! Please, hurry!" you pleaded, hands pulling against your restraints, "Want it inside me, Hoonie, please!"
"Condoms?"
"No, raw."
"Babyâ"
"Please!"
One beg from you and Sunghoon's heartbeat has already picked up. Before you both even started seeing each other to hook up, you have already established that the farthest you could go with each other is oral. Other than that is off the table, as you have said, you both are completely off-limits.
Sunghoon's chest warmed at the thought of you warming up to him, "Okay, baby," he breathed out, "are you sure?"
"I am," you whined.
He leaned over and removed your blindfold and restraints, letting you adjust before pushing his lips on yours, "Thank you, thank you," he muttered in between kisses as he pulls himself away, prodding the tip of his dick on your throbbing hole.
"I gotta say," Sunghoon chuckled as he pushes his tip inside you slowly, earning a delicious moan from you both, "you're so goddamn pretty, more exceptionally so when I'm inside you."
Sunghoon has a way with words, that's one thing that you made yourself known. That was something about him that you think was what sealed the deal â he fed into your need for constant assurance, even though there were limitations between you both.
"Push it all in," you demanded.
Without another word, Sunghoon pushed himself inside, earning a throaty groan between you both.
"Shit, f-feel so g-good for me, oh, my god," Sunghoon breathed as he pushed his face into the crook of your neck, your arms immediately finding home around his torso.
Sunghoon picks up his pace as he continues on bullying his way inside you, relishing on how your pussy throbs around his dick. With every thrust that he lands inside you, your eyes roll at the back of your head, feeling the pulse of the veins of his dick with every drag.
"God, Sunghoon, Iâ" you cut yourself off with a groan by his ear, cradling his face as he placed light kisses on your shoulder, "Fuck, Sunghoon, so good!"
The boy pulled his face away, prying your mouth open as he spit into your mouth, his cock drilling inside you in the slowest, yet most delicious way. It was as if he was trying his best to memorize how your gummy walls enveloped his dick, in the hopes of making your pussy remember his.
And, to commit this into memory, Sunghoon removes the ring he had clad around his ring finger, reaching for your left hand that hung around your shoulder, and, in a lust-filled haze, he wore the finger around the nearest finger that was accessible to him, he'd fix that later.
Your eyes wandered to the ring that adorned your thumb, before biting your lip and looking at him. Sunghoon already adjusted himself, kneeling straight as he hikes your leg up and places it on his shoulder; and with a roll of his hips, both of you are already a whimpering, moaning mess.
"So f-full, fucking finally," you moaned out and Sunghoon reaches for your other hand to intertwine it with his, "Yeah? Been dreaming of it for so long, huh?"
Tapping your cheek he makes you look at him, "Been dreaming of this, t-too, baby," he says, panting, "been dreaming of d-doing more than just this, too,"
You looked at him with doe eyes, your lips dropping down to his lips, "Kiss me, Sunghoon."
Sunghoon nodded and kissed you, your hips bucking up to meet his thrusts, it was in that moment that only the two of you existed.
"You're squeezing me so f-fucking..." Sunghoon trailed, eyebrows drawn to each other in concentration, "..so fucking good for me, God, I love you."
His hands travelled down to your clit and rubbed circles around it, making you whimper and pull his face to yours, your lips wanting to get a taste of his again.
"Not gonna last l-long, princess," Sunghoon muttered in between grunts, "You close?" He said as he looked at you, searching your eyes for more than just your sign of being as near as he is.
You hum reaching your head up to peck his lips, "M-me too, Hoonie, dick is f-fucking me so g-good," your head attempting to throw back as his tip kept on hitting that sweet spot inside you.
"I love you," Sunghoon whispers as he lets go of your leg on his shoulder, pressing onto your body as he finally lets go of his cum inside you, your release following suit after he kept on thrusting even if he was coming undone inside you.
For a while, you both had stayed in that position, Sunghoon still deep inside you in between your legs, legs weakly wrapped around his body, both of your arms wrapped around his neck as you combed through his hair.
There was a heavy weight in the air, something that demands to be addressed.
Sunghoon lifts his head up, his chin rest against your chest. With a quick kiss on the valley of your breasts, he pulls the hand that had the ring wrapped around your thumb, he kisses your inner wrist, before, with lidded eyes, removing the ring and placing it instead to your ring finger, kissing your palm after a close inspection.
Sunghoon had never been so sure in his life, until now.
"I meant what I said," Sunghoon says quietly, his eyes now trained on your hand, eager to confess that it had always been you all along.
"Sunghoon, we can't.."
"Why?"
"You're going to get married,"
"I called it off."
You looked at him with a gasp, "What?"
"I said I found a partner, I always told you I'll always have you close, right?" he says as he sent you a soft smile, relishing in the hand that played with his hair.
"You're crazy," you chuckled.
"You make me go crazy over you," Sunghoon smiles with his eyes almost close.
"I love you, too, Sunghoon."
And when your eyes both meet, Sunghoon smiled softly, and that was when you both knew â it was where you both are supposed to be.
Sunghoon hums as he wraps his arms around you and pulls you close, this time, sure.
"Stay with me tonight," Sunghoon whispers.
"I'll stay tomorrow, too," you add.
"And on the days after that?" Sunghoon asks, his cheek pressed against your chest.
"And on the days after eternity."

honeys it girl magazine october edition!!â.ŕłŕż*:シđ
welcome back to honeys it girl magazine, this is the october catalog. get ready for the inside scoop on data that i've collected, things i've learned/started doing, and just general info like that organized in kind of a teen-magazine inspired fashion. a magazine for it girls ⨠and now please enjoy, the it girl magazine.
HOW TO HAVE THE MOST DOLLY SLUMBER PARTY EVER ;
when i think of the month of october i think of GLAMOROUS parties. and that incorporates girly slumber parties, halloween parties, a LOT of parties. SOO the kind of party that i wanted to focus on in this month's catalogue is slumber parties.
to throw a successful slumber party we first need a plan. make sure that u have refreshments, entertainment, invitations and all of that planned. if u wanna have a SUPER cute slumber party have a theme. some theme ideas can be
⥠victoria's secret (V.S. pj's, lingerie, everyone wears a V.S. robe etc)⥠2000's ⥠movie based pajamas⥠a color scheme (black and pink is my fave)
and we can't have our girls being bored at our slumber party can we? make sure that u plan fun activities like having a fashion show (playing dress up) playing dress to impress or video games like that, baking sweet treats, karaoke, dolling each other up ETC. for refreshments you could do a snack bar or make mocktails, you could even do a milkshake station!
THE VICTORIA'S SECRET FASHION SHOW 2024 ANALYSIS ;
đ§ anok yaiâs floral number (sheâs literally blooming, she looks like a FLOWER. her hair is giving barbie dolll and ultimately she had my favorite look of the whole entire night. the WINGSSS, the shoes everything just goes together beautifully.)
đ§ gigi hadid (she looks like a lavender princess fairy and it looks amazing on her. but PLEASEE why the slick hair?? when i think victorias secret im thinking of bouncy voluminous hair. i LOVE her wings though. they're so big and over the top and i love it)
đ§ imaan hamman (also goes with lisa and anok yai in my top three favorite looks of the night. its so simple but in my opinion her look gives the victorias secret that we all know and love the most.)
đ§ alex consani (i rly rly love baby blue on her, again, please bring back bouncy voluminous hair. and i kinda wish they gave her fluffier wings.)
đ§Â lisaâs black lacy number (def one of my favorites on the whole runway. i wish she had black lacy wings instead of the structured ones but easily one of my favorites)
đ§ maty fall (the silk, the feathers, chefs KISS. in his case i think the minimal wings look the prettiest because her outfit is fuller, the delicate wings complement it beautifully.)
OCTOBER BODYCARE, MAKEUP AND FRAGRANCE FAVORITES ;
body care : hello kitty strawberry oat milk body balm from creme, vanilla creme brĂťlĂŠe body lotion from hempz (this one smells like HEAVEN), and fresh cream by philosophy. i rly loved the nyx marshmallow primer and for fragrance the soft and dreamy scent from victorias secret PINK (it just gives me so much nostalgia around this season đđŹ)
DRESS TO IMPRESS NEW UPDATE ;
dress to impress is every hottie's favorite game, and when DTI dropped its halloween update, everyone including myself was so super STOKED about it. there are new codes and SO many new possibilities unlocked. speaking of codesâŚđŹđ
â¤ď¸ CH00P1E_1S_B4CK (boots, jacket and skirt)
â¤ď¸ UMOYAE (skater dress)
â¤ď¸ D1ORST4R (star purse and hair bow)
â¤ď¸ S3M_0W3N_Y4Y (axe weapon)
OCTOBER IT GIRL ACTIVITIES ;
like i said in the first section of this month's magazine, i associate october with PARTIES and ik a lot of us are going to halloween parties so i just wanted to share some rules of thumb especially if its ur first party, on how to have fun while also being safe.
make sure that u have a designated driver at all times
don't overdo it with the drinks, thats never hot
make sure u have ice cold water to sip on, on the car ride home
be careful, make sure that drinks are poured in front of u or you get them yourself
dont party by yourself GO WITH A FRIEND U TRUST AND STICK TOGETHER
and of course have fun đ this year im dressing up as the white rabbit from alice in wonderland so im super excited to look cute and have fun with my friends
if partying is not ur thing there are SO many fun things that you can do this october. for example binge watching october movies, or doing fall related activities like we talked about in last month's section. some movies that i love to watch in october are
⥠jennifer's body
⥠ginger snaps
⥠scream
⥠the love witch
i dont usually watch things that are too scary which is why my list is so short đ i get scared rly easily so i try and watch movies that aren't SO scary but if you like that there are some rly good ones out there.

Halloween Treats
Trent (right) and Derek (left) took pride in their status as fitness influencers. The young gay couple happily posting their daily adventures and travels to share with their growing fanbase. And the two certainly made sure to drop just enough thirst traps to get people paying attention. They offered supplements, online training, diet recommendations etc. to their customers. And on Halloween, they offered some strong opinions.
âYou may be tempted by all the junk food,â Trent said, while walking with his boyfriend, âBut if you want a body like this, you gotta resist.â He flexes his bicep to really drive home the point.
âHealthy habits start young.â Derek continues, âWhich is why this year, weâre not handing out junk. Weâll be offering healthy choices.â
The two smiled and Trent gives his boyfriend a quick kiss on the cheek. Night came quick, and the two boyfriends happily handed out their healthy snacks to the hordes of trick-or-treaters. A few gave dirty looks, while others outwardly expressed their dismay at the lack of candy. But Trent and Derek felt good. The night was winding down and the two sat on the couch, watching TV. When the doorbell rang, they grabbed their healthy snacks and got ready to greet another trick-or-treater. But when they opened the door, there was no one there. Just two candy bars on their welcome mat.
âOdd.â Trent comments, âWhatâs this?â
âOh itâs been awhile since Iâve had one of these.â Derek smiles, holding up the candy bar, âI used to love these when I was a kid.â
âWe should probably just toss it.â
âAw come on, babe.â Derek says, âWeâre good all year.â
And before Trent could get another word in, Derek took a bite. A big smile formed on his face and Trent couldnât help but laugh. His boyfriend was right- they could afford one treat. The two closed the door and went back to the couch, where Trent opened his candy bar. And when he bit into it, he felt a wave of euphoria wash over him. A smile forming on his handsome face.
âOh wow, thatâs good.â Trent mumbles, looking over at his boyfriend. Derek was licking his fingers, having finished his candy bar.
âI kinda want another.â Derek mumbles.
Trent goes to say something, but he pauses. Thereâs something off about Derek. Since when did his boyfriend have stubble? And did his face look rounder?
âHey...â
âUgh, its so warm in here.â Derek continues, pulling off his shirt.
Trent gasps when he sees his boyfriendâs torso. His chiseled abs were covered in a layer of soft fat. His firm pecs were starting to sag. A waft of pungent BO fills Trentâs nostrils.
âBabe?â Trent asks, eyes still wide.
âWhat...?â Derek looks down and gasps, âOh my god!â His hands move to his growing abdomen and he gasps as they fill with his growing gut, âBabe! Whatâs happening...â He belches and his gut pushes out even further.
âI donât...â Trent winces when he feels his stomach grumble, âNo... oh god no...â He whispers as he removes his shirt and looks down.
His eyes arenât met by his usual Greek god physique. Instead, he stares at his expanding abdomen, as layer after layer of flab build upon themselves. He can feel its heaviness and the new weight he carriers. And he groans as his toned arms also fill with fat, eliminating his picturesque, toned biceps and triceps. He feels his flabbier arms and cringes. It took years to build up his physique. How was this happening? But his thoughts are interrupted. He scratches at his face as scraggly stubble starts to grow in. He quickly whips out his phone and points the camera at himself.
âThis isnât possible.â He gasps, taking in his new form.
He hates how unkempt his hair and new beard appear. His double chin an unwanted addition to his once chiseled face. He looks lazier- uncaring even. Years of working on his body apparently undone in an instant. He gasps as he feels Derek grab a fistful of his gut.
âFuck babe...â Derek moans, âI love this.â
Trent canât believe his ears. But as he looks into his boyfriendâs eyes, he notices something off. They appear dim. Uncaring. Lazy. The spark in them gone. Derek pushes himself so that he is now straddling his boyfriend. Their guts pressed together, their moobs sagging. He kisses Trent, running a hand along his scratchy beard.
âBabe... Derek...â Trent groans, âThis isnât...â
But he canât get the words out. He instead grabs the jiggly flesh of Derekâs fat ass. It feels so good and Trent can feel his thoughts slowing. His exercise routines are becoming foggy. His strict diet, macros, and healthy lifestyle all start to become jumbled.
âNo... please not my memories...â He begs softly, starting to enjoy the way his gut feels. How pleasant it feels pressed against his boyfriendâs.
But he canât stop it. Any memory of a gym session or a workout routine are lost to him. His favorite meal prep recipes gone. And not just from his mind. All the things he saved to his phone, all his progress in the gym that he tracked diligently- all of it disappears, as if it was never done. Their pantry empties of any healthy snack, instead filling with salty chips and candy. Protein shakes become soda. Their home becoming messy and filled with unwashed clothes and dirty dishes. A new lifestyle in both mind, body, and environment. Trent is initially horrified as a wave of laziness and hunger fill his emptying mind. But the former athlete can do little as he gradually accepts this new life. His grumbling stomach snaps him back to reality.
âOh babe.â He moans, planting a sloppy kiss on Derekâs lips, âLetâs take this to the bedroom.â
And as the two continued to devour any junk food they could get their hands on, it became clear to them that this was just the beginning. Theyâd continue to get larger and larger. Unable to do anything to stop it, yet enjoying the feeling of their new flabbier bodies. Besides, Halloween was a time for treats. At least now theyâd be able to appreciate that.

But after years of being apart, you've come to terms with the fact that at twenty, you and Jake just aren't what you used to be. That is until you get a text from him, and all of a sudden, he's back by your side, doing his year abroad at the university you study at, and all your feelings for him float back up to the surface. genre. college au, childhood friends to ???? to lovers, painful mutual pining, one bed trope..... a sprinkle of angst (my hand slipped) but mostly fluff i promise and smut (mdni!!!), also i made sunghoon really weird in this and idkw, this is set in scotland.. edinburgh uni rep!! word count. 23k author's note. everybody say happy belated birthday to @zreamy.. happy belated birthday zo!!! being 22 years and 6 days old is cooler than just 22 years old anyway.. hope you like it bestie... if you dont... well theres a building on campus thats 17 stories high sooo.. enjoy! i hope everyone else enjoys too, since this is a bday fic for zo she couldnt beta read so i had to raw dog this so if its terrible.. not my fault! lmk what u think!! i also made a playlist for this, do listen along!!
âAlright kids, good news or bad news first?â
You looked at your teacher, then at the boy next to you, then back at your teacher. âBad news first,â you said in unison.
You were only eight, but you were both wise enough to know that hearing good news second would assuage the blow of whatever these bad news were. Miss Dawson sighed as she crouched in front of you. âThe bad news is your bus driver is on strike and wonât be coming. The good news is that your parents have been informed and are coming to pick you up soon.â
Following her instructions, you headed to the gymnasium and sat there silently among the other kids. Not many kids in your class rode the bus home, and the ones who did seemed to have drivers not on strike, so it was just the two of you. You were used to that, though - over January and February, you had made a sort of silent pact to stand and wait for the bus together. You sometimes shared snacks, but you never spoke. For some reason, you felt at ease with this boy, even though you didnât know much about him. You had heard he had moved to Brisbane just at the start of this year, all the way from South Korea. You were pretty sure his name was Jake.
You handed him one of your Twix bars. Then he spoke. âI thought a strike was when you did really well in bowling.â
âSame,â you replied, mouth full of chocolate and caramel. âIâm not sure why that would keep the bus driver from picking us up.â
Jake looked at you with wide eyes, distress clear in them. âDo you think he went bowling instead of picking us up?â
This made you frown. âThatâd be really rude.â
âIt would. I always make sure to go bowling on the weekends, âcause if I missed school thatâd be rude to Miss Dawson.â
You nodded your head in fervent agreement. âFor sure.â
That weekend, his mum called your mum to ask if you wanted to go to the bowling alley with them. From then on, for the next six years, you were stuck together by glue.Â
--
Twelve years later, Jakeâs name appearing on your phone screen has become such a rare sight, you donât believe it right away. It takes you a few seconds of intense squinting at the letters to actually realise your eyes arenât deceiving you.
jake.sim15 hey y/n!! you go to edinburgh uni right?
You type and delete three different responses before settling for a simple yeah, I am! whatâs up?, hoping you sounded nonchalant even though you very much felt chalant. You thought that whatever you sent wouldnât be as weird as taking forever to answer such a straightforward question.Â
As you wait for Jakeâs reply, you scroll through your previous shared messages, noting with sadness that for three years in a row, the only instances youâd texted were to wish each other a happy birthday or when he reacted with a fire emoji to Stories of your dog, Milo. Before that, your last conversation was to congratulate each other about getting into your top choice universities and to discuss plans for your respective futures.
Futures that used to include each other, you think. His reply appears at the bottom of your screen before melancholy can fill your heart.
jake.sim15 i applied to go there for my year abroad next year annnnd i got in !! heh
You shoot up straight from your seat on the lounge chaise youâd been sunbathing on, a loud âOh my God!â involuntarily escaping your mouth.Â
âWhat? What happened? Is everything okay?â Chaewon asks frantically, rushing over to your side. âOh,â she says when she sees your phone. âItâs a text⌠from a boy?âÂ
This makes Yunjin, previously unbothered by your panic, rise from her seat and take off her sunglasses. âA boy? Show me,â she demands, snatching your phone from your hands before you can protest. Upon seeing the texts on your screen, she lets out a loud gasp. âItâs not just any boy! Itâs the one and only Jake Sim himself.â
âGive that back!â you plead, hand reaching for your phone, but Yunjin is already walking away.
âAnd heâs coming to Edi this September, apparently. He says heâs sorry for not saying anything earlier, but he was waiting for an answer up until now.â She scoffs. âLeave it to our uni to tell someone theyâre in less than two months before term starts. Oh, youâre the first person heâs told, Y/N! After his parents. How cute,â she coos, protesting when you snatch your phone back from her. âHey! I was reading that.â
âThose are my texts, Yunjin. Iâm the one whoâs meant to read them.â
She shrugs. âYou wouldâve told us anyway.â
âWhat are you going to reply?â Chaewon asks. With the both of them hovering over your shoulders and watching as you type a response, a sort of stage fright comes over you, making you send what might be the most unoriginal reply known to man.
âAwesome? Seriously, Y/N?â Yunjin reads, disproportionately disgusted with you.
âThatâs a lot of exclamation marks. It almost makes it look like you donât mean it,â Chaewon says.
âI do mean it!â
âWell, he seems to like it. A smiling-with-teeth emoji is a good sign, right?â she asks in an attempt to make you feel better.
âHe has automatic caps off. That man is run-through,â Yunjin says, shaking her head as she walks back to her sunbed.
âYou were excited about him texting me just a second ago,â you reproach.
âYeah, before I found out he was a whore.â
âYunjin, you know we don't slut-shame here!â Chaewon exclaims. Before Yunjin can say anything even worse in response, your phone starts ringing, and Jakeâs name appears on your screen. âHeâs calling you?â Chaewon gasps, making Yunjin sit up with a start for the second time in less than five minutes.
âThis man is insane,â she remarks with all the seriousness in the world.
You run away from your friends, finding refuge in the outside kitchen area out of earshot. They donât need to hear your conversation with Jake. You love them, but they can be weirdly unsupportive in moments like these.
âHey, Jake,â you greet, hoping he doesnât notice the breathlessness in your voice. It was because you had just ran, of course - you didnât want him to think you were so nervous about talking to him after such a long time, you could barely breathe. Because you werenât. At all.
âHey, Y/N!â he replies, and the excitement in his voice makes your heart melt. âI hope itâs not weird that I called, I just thought itâd be nicer than texting, is that okay?â
âYeah, itâs fine, itâs nice to hear your voice,â you say before you can really think about it, and cringe at your own words. Years without talking and the worldâs worst line is the first thing you say to Jake. Thankfully, before you start excruciating yourself, a chuckle pours out of Jakeâs throat and blesses your ears.
âItâs nice to hear your voice, too. What are you up to?âÂ
âOh, Iâm on vacation with my friends. One of them has a rich aunt who owns a villa in southern Italy, so weâre just chilling by the pool right now.âÂ
âYou always wanted to go to Italy! That sounds so nice,â he says. Your breath catches gently in your throat - he remembers, you note.
âYeah, it really is. What about you, how are you spending the summer?â
Jake tells you about the local bookstore owned by a grandpa thatâs always had a soft spot for him and that gave him a part-time job for the summer. âIâm trying to save up as much money as I can before I leave. If I treat you to a meal, will you show me around the city?â he asks, and you can hear the grin in his voice. It makes you realise how much youâve actually missed him.
âYou donât need to treat me to a meal, Iâll show you around anyway.âÂ
Still, he insists, and you find yourself giving in quickly - because itâs Jake or because free food is on the table, youâre not sure. Probably both.Â
You and Jake get to talking, but fitting years and years of catching up into one conversation is an impossible task, and before you know it, when you check your phone, youâve been talking for over an hour. Yunjin is angrily waving at you, pointing at her stomach to indicate hunger like a caveman whoâs just learned how to communicate. You apologise to Jake, telling him you have to go, and plan to meet during fresherâs week before you hang up.
A few hours later, you get a text from him saying it was nice talking to you and jokingly asking whether Yunjin was satisfied with lunch. Itâs innocuous, but it opens a gate for more texting, which leads to long, rambling voice messages, which leads to late-night phone calls that remind you of when you were fifteen and still kept in touch. When August fades into September, you feel like youâve got your best friend back.Â
You remember why you were so in love with him at fourteen.
--
You see Jake before he sees you. Â
Among the throngs of people, you manage to spot the dark, messy flop of hair on his head weighed down by a nice pair of wireless headphones. After a thirteen-hour flight from Seoul, a four-hour layover in Frankfurt and a final, two-hour flight to Edinburgh, he looks rightfully exhausted, using what looks like the last of his energy to spot the exit and the airport bus stop. Even wearing a simple denim jacket, white tee and grey sweatpants, heâs so gorgeous you forget what you came here for, until he almost walks right past you without seeing you. You put yourself in his path and hold your hand-written banner up, making yourself as obvious as you can as you call out his name.Â
When he sees you, he stops dead in his tracks for a second, someone almost running into him before he remembers the crowd behind him. His tired features break out into a bright smile that has your heartbeat speeding up so much, you think it might run out of your chest.Â
He had told you not to come, that it would be late for you and he didnât want to bother you, but you had managed to get the information of his arrival before he forbade you from picking him up so you did it anyway, wanting to surprise him. After years of being apart, rather than waiting another day, you wanted to see him as soon as possible.
Jake briskly makes his way to you, dropping his bags next to him on the floor as he engulfs you in a hug, warm and tight as if heâs trying to make up for all those years. You hug him back as if someone would appear out of thin air and take him away from you again.
âThis was the longest day of my life, Iâm so happy to see you,â he says when he pulls away, and youâre so happy you canât even say anything back, resorting to giggling and lightly swatting non-existent dust off of his shoulders.Â
As you wait for the bus, he tells you about every trivial thing that happened to him on his trip, from how expensive a sandwich is at the airport to the German kid sitting in front of him that kept turning around to stare at him on his second flight.
âHow did you know he was German?â you ask, amused.
Jake pauses. âJust vibes.â
Conversation on the bus is slightly disjointed as you jump from topic to topic with random pauses here and there before one of you finds something to talk about - but itâs okay, you hadnât expected for the two of you to be as easy as before. Itâs more awe at seeing each other after such a long time than awkwardness. Even though youâd caught up over summer, there was a world of difference between speaking on the phone and actually sitting next to him. You notice things like the shine of his hair, the creases that form on the sides of his lips when he smiles, or, unfortunately for you, the veins that run along his forearms and hands - things you hadnât noticed previously thanks to the sometimes questionable quality of the front camera of his phone. Once in a while, your thigh brushes against his, and it reminds you that heâs really here. Even that heâs real, at all.Â
In a tragic turn of events, Jake lives in the student accommodation you used to live in in first year, and coming back to it two years later is slightly traumatising. His three-person flat is in a different building as your old one, and you marvel at how it somehow still smells the same - like dusty, decade-old carpeting and the permanent stench of studentsâ dubitable cooking. Heâs the first one to move in, which makes the place slightly eerie, but it means that youâre not bothering anyone by unpacking Jakeâs stuff and cooking Shin Ramyun the previous tenants had left behind at 11pm.Â
Your late dinner was meant for you to take a small break, watch a couple episodes of Friends which Jake had been shocked to learn youâd never watched, and you had been shocked to learn he was a die-hard fan of (since one year ago), then get back to unpacking. But the ramen sends an already exhausted Jake into a food coma so intense, he falls asleep on your shoulder five minutes into the second episode.Â
You let him sleep as long as he needs, turning the volume down on his laptop and stifling your chuckles as much as you can. You feel like a cat has fallen asleep in your lap - you are now obliged by law to stay still until Jake wakes up. Itâs not until an hour later that Jakeâs uncomfortable sleeping position forces him awake, lifting his head off of your shoulder with a grunt. He looks around himself, at his room thatâs not quite familiar to him yet, then at you, eyes still scrunched with sleepiness as a grin blooms onto his lips.
âSorry,â clearing his throat of its grogginess. âWhat time is it?â
âItâs almost one a.m,â you reply, and his eyes go wide.
âYou shouldâve woken me up! Does your shoulder hurt?â he asks, much more alarmed than he should be, and it makes you laugh.
âItâs all good. But now that youâre awake, I should probably head home.âÂ
âIâll get you an Uber,â he says, already pulling out his phone.Â
âItâs fine, Jake, my place is a ten-minute walk from here. I live just up the road.â
Jakeâs fingers on his phone pause as he looks up at you. âThen Iâll walk you home.â He lifts a finger in warning when he sees you start to protest. âAnd donât fight me on this. You did so much today, itâs the least I can do.â
As much as you love the idea of spending more time with Jake, even if itâs just ten minutes, you still donât want to bother him when you know how tired he is. âItâs really safe around here. I can just text you when Iâm home, if youâre worried about me getting kidnapped or something,â you say, taking his jacket from his hands and placing it back on his desk chair.
He grabs it back, putting it on before you can take it from him again, and rummages through one of his suitcases for a black, woolly scarf. Neither of you speaks as he wraps it tight around your neck, even though the early September weather isnât cold enough to warrant it. His hands stop briefly on the scarf and a small smile spreads on his lips. You hope he doesnât hear your sharp intake of breath when your eyes meet. âItâs not about that,â he says simply, voice low and unlike youâve ever heard it before. You donât think his voice had quite finished cracking when heâd moved away back then.Â
Suddenly, he steps away, grabs his keys, and heads for the door. âLetâs go!â he says, voice back to its usual cheery tone. You donât find it in you to question him, so you just follow him out, welcoming the night breeze that cools down your burning cheeks with open arms.Â
The walk to your place is mostly done in comfortable silence, but it still goes by too quickly for your liking. You keep your hands in your pockets to prevent yourself from doing something stupid, like reaching out for Jakeâs hand that swishes back-and-forth as he walks. Instead, you bury your nose in his scarf and relish in the unfamiliar but comforting smell that his cologne has left behind on the fabric. You hug goodbye when you reach your flat, and you have to remind yourself to let go. He insists on you keeping the scarf. âMy mum packed me, like, three, so you can have that one.âÂ
âYour mum still pack your things for you, does she?â you ask, tone playful.
âNo-â he says, voice slightly whiny, before he realises youâre just teasing him. âWhatever,â he chuckles, ruffling your hair. You hope the streetlights arenât bright enough for him to notice the flustered look on your face. The both of you stand there awkwardly for a second, before he lets out another chuckle. âRight. See you tomorrow?â
âYeah,â you beam.
âOkay,â he says, but still doesnât make a move to leave. âOkay. Yeah. Iâll be off then.â He gives you one last smile then turns around, burying his hands in his pockets, and you watch as he walks away.
âGet home safe,â you call out after a few seconds.Â
He pivots on his heels, and, with a wave of his hand, says, âI will! Go inside.â
âGood night!â
âNight, Y/N!â
When you walk into your living room, Yunjin is sitting on the couch, arms crossed over her chest, gaze trained on the wall opposite her, one lamp lighting the otherwise completely dark room. She looks like a detective in one of those bad cop shows.
âGosh, whatâs all this for?â
âYouâre back awfully late,â she says, neither looking at you nor answering your question.
âYeah, I was with Jake,â you shrug, heading into the kitchen for a glass of water. She abruptly gets up from her seat, following you into the other room and staying close behind you.
âAnd?â she demands, mouth way too close to your ear and making you start.
âAnd what?â you ask.Â
âWhat do you mean and what?!â she says, clearly agitated. âI want to know everything!â
âThereâs nothing to say, really. He seemed happy I picked him up from the airport, then I helped him unpack. He lives in Riego, by the way.â
âEw.â
âI know, it was awful going back there.â
The two of you stare at each other as you drink your water. âWell?â she asks.
âWhat?â
âIs that it?â
You fill your glass again to take it into your bedroom. âI donât know, we just ate and watched Friends.â
âYou hate shows with laughing tracks,â she states like itâs an accusation.
âIt wasnât actually that bad,â you reply, shrugging.
She tuts. âLove will do ugly, ugly things to a person.â
âYouâve been in a loving relationship for the past two years.â
âThis isnât about me. Can we talk about how youâre still in love with the same loser from when you were ten?â
âI was fourteen, and donât call Jake a loser when you havenât even met him.â You ignore the roll of her eyes. âAnd Iâm not. Not anymore. Iâm just happy to have my friend back.â Yunjin gives you a look. âOkay, maybe Iâm still a little bit in love with him. But itâs so little, itâs barely there.â Her expression is unchangingly unimpressed and you canât help but throw in the towel. âAlright, fine. I still love him, what about it?â
âYouâre pathetic.â
âI know that, no need to remind me.â
âAre you gonna do something about it?â
âMy patheticness? Iâve tried, didnât really work.â
âNo, idiot, about Jake. You should go and get him! Itâd be so sexy if you got together as 20-somethings after knowing each other since you were babies.â
âWe were eight when we met. And I donât know if sexy is the word Iâd use here.â
âAnything is sexy if you try hard enough,â she says, and you have to laugh. âAnyways, you should confess your undying love and tell him youâve felt that way since you met.â
âI wasnât-â
âGuys might not show it, but they probably get all hot for stuff like that. Boosts their ego and shit.â
âYunjin, I just got my friend back, Iâm not gonna risk it. Plus, who knows, I might not actually be in love with him. It might just be my emotions acting up, like, seeing someone I used to like after a while. Weâve both changed so much, once I get to know him more now, I might not even feel the way I used to.â
âNotice how youâve used the word might twice in ten seconds? Youâre just trying to find excuses.â
You groan. âThis is why I hate English Lit people.â
âYou do English Lit.â
âI know, and Iâm the only nice person that does it.â In your head, you add and Jake, but saying it out loud would only make this conversation worse for you.
âWhatâs that scarf, by the way? Did he give you that?â
You look down at the scarf like itâs a piece of incriminating evidence. âCan you stop grilling me, please? Itâs late.â
âYouâre not answering my question.â
You sighed deeply. âFine. Yes, he gave me-â
âItâs not even that cold outside!â she exclaimed in an outrage. âDonât tell me he also walked you home?â
You pause. âHe did.â
She gasped. âHe walked you home because heâs in love with you.â
âHe walked me home because heâs a good friend that looks after me.â
âHe walked you home because he realised how hot youâve gotten and he wants some of that.â
All you can do is sigh. âWhatever. Iâm going to bed.â
âIf you werenât such a coward, you wouldnât be going to bed alone.â
âWhatever!â you say, shutting the door behind you, shaking that preposterous conversation out of your head. When you get into bed, it takes you at least half-an-hour before you can settle down, but you know your constant tossing and turning isnât due to your inability to find a comfortable enough position to sleep in. Between your evening with Jake and Yunjinâs pestering, thoughts run wild and incoherent through your head.Â
You want to tell her every little thing that happened with Jake tonight, but youâre afraid it might do you more harm than good. She is most definitely the type of friend who will take the smallest action a guy did for you or the most meaningless thing he might have said and turn it into a sign that he has the hots for you, which usually does wonders for your confidence, but right now, you donât need that kind of delusion. Did seeing your childhood best friend you used to secretly harbour feelings for make you feel some type of way? Of course, but that doesnât mean you still love him after all this time, after six years of being apart, the majority of those years spent with no contact. It wasnât like you parted ways with resentment, or anything of that sort, far from it; rather, you drifted apart naturally, as two teenagers with over 7000 kilometres between them would. At first, youâd call frequently and even write each other letters - but as you became more preoccupied with school, friends, and extracurriculars, your phones gradually rang less and your mailboxes became gradually emptier. You donât even remember who sent the last, unanswered letter.Â
Tonight isnât the first time you replay the moment Jake announced that he would go away, but itâs the first time itâs a bittersweet memory. It used to only be bitter - but now that youâve reconnected, you can look back at it with fondness, wishing you could tell fourteen-year-old you the hurt would only last so long.Â
It hadnât started unusually.
âSo, bad news first, right?â
In your six years of friendship with Jake, this had been the first time youâd really been wary of what he would say next. The look on his face told you that this bad news wouldnât be as easy to shake off as usual. Your definition of bad news was things like I got grounded so I canât hang out, I forgot we had a test tomorrow so I canât hang out, my allergies are acting up again so I canât hang out.
âIâm moving to Korea next month.â
Iâm on another continent, so I canât hang out.
You remember the words not quite making sense at the time. âOh? How long are you staying there?â you said, taking a bite of your strawberry ice cream which Jake had insisted on paying for, even though you knew he didnât get much allowance.
âForever.â
You stopped chewing, and the ice cream melted uncomfortably in your mouth. You donât know how long you stayed there, frozen as you stared at your best friend in disbelief. It wasnât until he lightly shoved your shoulder, only meeting your eyes for a split second, that you remembered to swallow and to say something.
âForever as in⌠You wonât live here anymore? At all?â
Jake shook his head. He kept his eyes trained on the vanilla-chocolate ice cream sandwich heâd left in its wrapper. In the blazing hot Brisbane summer, it had probably fully melted two minutes ago. âAt all.â
âOh,â was all you found yourself able to say. For some reason, you hoped that continuing to eat your ice cream would stop you from crying, but to no avail. Hot, salty tears quickly started raining down your cheeks, mixing with the sweetness of your ice cream when they reached your lips.Â
âItâs my dadâs work. Same reason why I moved here when we were kids in the first place. They wanted him here then, they want him back there now. We just have to follow,â Jake explained, sounding just as upset as you felt.
âRight.â
âAre you mad at me?â Jake asked, worry clear in his voice, and finally turned to face you. At the sight of you crying, he let out a small oh, tears of his own pooling in his eyes.
You frowned. âOf course not. Iâm never mad at you, you know that. I just⌠Youâre my best friend, Jakey. Itâs gonna be so lame around here without you.â
âItâll be lame there without you, too.â
You attempted a smile. âWell, of course. But at least youâll get to make new friends, see new places. Youâll be in a whole other country, Iâm sure youâll have fun there. Iâm gonna be stuck in boring old Brisbane for the foreseeable future.â
âDo you know how offended our friends would be if they heard you speaking right now?â he asked, nudging your shoulder with his.
You sniffled and let out a chuckle. âTheyâre all great, but⌠I donât like them nearly as much as I like you,â you said, staring down at your hands, hoping he wouldnât realise exactly what you meant by that statement.
A weight was lifted off of your shoulders when Jake answered. âI like you the most too, Y/N.â You tried not to think too much about whether heâd meant it platonically or romantically - none of that mattered anymore. All that mattered was the feeling of his arms around you, his warmth enveloping your whole body, his familiar scent that you already missed.Â
You felt him take a deep breath against you before he pulled away. He sniffled and did his best to put on a smile. âRight, enough of that. Iâm not leaving until next month, so donât think youâre rid of me just yet,â he joked, and it helped alleviate the weight on your heart, even if just a little. âYou said you had something to tell me? Good news after bad news, and all that.â
âOh. Right. I forgot about that.â
You thought for a second. Today was the day you had planned to confess your feelings to Jake - youâd only told him you had good news to share. But what was the point now that he was leaving? If he felt the same way, it would only make his departure that much harder, and if he didnât, it would ruin your last moments together. It just wasnât worth it.
Jake tilted his head, waiting for you to speak. In a split second, you made yourself forget your disappointment over having built the courage to tell him how you felt only for it all to fall through, and resolved to make the most of Jakeâs last month here. You wiped your tears and mirrored his small smile as best you could. âUm, it wasnât anything much. My mum made those cowboy cookies you like.â
Jakeâs head fell back as he groaned in anticipation. âIf she wasnât happily married with three kids, Iâd marry your mum. Letâs go right now.â
You laughed. âThereâd be a bit of an age gap there.â
âWeâd make it work,â Jake joked, throwing his arm around your shoulders as you walked towards your house. He beamed down at you, his bright, boyish smile that you loved to bits, and you beamed up at him as you grabbed the hand that hung off your shoulder in your own.
You walked as happily as you could. âDo you even speak Korean?â you suddenly asked.
Jake halted abruptly in his steps, a gravely offended look on his face. When you looked back at him in confusion, he rolled his eyes and started walking again, pulling you with him. âItâs literally my mother tongue, Y/N. I speak it every day at home.â
âOh, right.â
At the time, you thought nothing could come between you and Jake. Not anyone, not anything, neither distance nor time. But they did. A week after heâd left, a boy from your class youâd talked to maybe once or twice asked you out on a date. You werenât sure why, but you said yes. Then you said yes to being his girlfriend, even though you didnât like him all that much, and you even said yes to reducing your texting with Jake because it made him jealous. When youâd broken up with him and wanted to catch up with Jake and apologise for your absence, youâd found that his new school in Seoul was a lot more demanding than yours in Brisbane, and he had to spend most of his evenings in academies if he wanted to get into a nice university. Itâs when you learned that heâd be staying in South Korea for college that you decided to leave Australia too. Brisbane was a lot less fun without him there - why bother staying? You couldnât go to him because of the language barrier and the cost of university there. If you were to essentially uproot your life, might as well go somewhere you could get a scholarship and understand the people around you.Â
It seemed insane that someone you had thought would be by your side for the rest of your life, someone that was part of your most cherished memories, had been reduced to someone you casually texted once in a while. It seems even more insane that now that youâre finally done essentially grieving your friendship with Jake, he stands in front of you again, six inches taller but still donning those puppy-like eyes and smile of his.
For your sake, you just hoped you wouldnât be as in love with him at twenty as you were at fourteen.
--
The next day, you show Jake around campus, which wouldnât normally take more than ten minutes, but takes double that time because of the sheer amount of people there. Between the Societies Fair taking up most of the square, the tour guides leading freshers, walking slowly and taking in their new campus, and the pizza and drinks stands, freshersâ week always turns campus into what feels like the busiest place on Earth. You try not to let it hit a nerve for Jakeâs sake, whoâs clearly ecstatic at all the activity, but you like this place a lot more when itâs quieter. You walk through the Fair, laughing as Jake marvels at all the different clubs and societies at the Uni.Â
âGardening Society? Dungeons & Dragons Society? Wine society?â he exclaims, astonishment growing with every passing stand.
âAnd this is only the first day. They also have a Taylor Swift Society.â He grabs a flyer from about every society, even though you know heâll join between two to zero of them.Â
When you walk out, thereâs a girl handing out samples of shampoo and conditioner, and you let her give you one, more out of politeness than anything.Â
âThese are so useless,â you start, and Jake chuckles, unaware of the incoming rant. âI had that job of distributing them last year, and we would get a tip if we gave them all out. So naturally I put a bunch in my bag, but then I had to use them for like two weeks.â You sigh. âFirst of all, my hair did not like it. And second, the ratio is so off. Thereâs way more conditioner than shampoo when it should be the other way around, so you have to condition your hair even though itâs not properly clean. So stupid.â
âSounds terrible,â Jake says, laughing. âIs that why youâre not doing it this year?â
âOh⌠Not really. I dated the guy that takes care of this promo stuff, so it wouldâve been kinda awkwardâŚâ you trail, immediately wishing you could backtrack on conversation. Talking about your ex with Jake wasnât on your to-do list for today. Or ever.
âYou dated your boss?â
âThe manager, yeah, I guess. He was only 24, though, donât worry.â
âIâm more worried about the power imbalance than the age gap there.â
You shrug, looking down at your shoes. âItâs not like he was that high up.â
âSo, what happened? Why did you break up?â
âWell, he acted like our four-year age difference meant he could treat me like a little kid. It was nice being taken care of at first but then I realised how condescending he was and dumped him.â
âHow long were you together?â
You pause. âTwo weeks,â you admit abashedly, making Jake chuckle. âAt least he didnât waste my time and showed his red flags early on.â
âAny boyfriends since?â he asks, and you wonder whether youâre making up the unsure tone of his voice. As if heâs curious, but doesnât want to show it too much. You hope youâre not making it up.
âA few, but they never last very long with me,â you say, a meek smile on your lips. âFurthest I got was three months.â
âAnd why didnât it work out with three-months-guy?â
âHe started comparing me to his mum a bit too often.â
âOuch.â
âYeah, I ran out of there without looking back.â
âWell, itâs nice to see youâve got high standards. I would hate to see you date just any loser.â
You want to say, High standards or issues?, but you donât want to make it weird, so you play it cool instead. âI would never. I have a mental checklist with everything a guy needs to have for me to date him.â
âA checklist? I have to hear about this.â
You sigh, debating whether you should tell him about it. Would he notice itâs based on him? Would he notice the only person that could tick practically every box was none other than him? Jake gently elbows your side, goading you on. When you look at him, heâs got a shit-eating grin playing on his lips, and you give in. You look off into the distance as you start listing your requirements. âWell, thereâs all your basics like funny, taller than me but not too much, âcause I donât want neck cramps, smart, takes uni seriously, has plans for his future, easy to talk to, not emotionally stunted and can actually have a vulnerable conversation. Itâs also a bonus if he has a nice face.â
âHow much of a bonus?â
You think for a second. âItâs more a dealbreaker than a bonus, actually. Nice smile is a must, definitely.â
âOkay. Got any more specifics?â
âI do have some particular ones. Itâs nice if heâs a reader, but itâs terrible if it makes him think heâs better than everyone or if he tries to sound smarter than me. I like it if he has experience, I donât want to have to teach him everything. But obviously I donât want him to still be in love with his ex. Guys and their first loves, I swear⌠I also donât really like picky eaters.â You look over at Jake and take a double-take. Heâs typing away on his phone, but because of his privacy screen protector, you canât see anything. You huff. âI also donât like it if he has those protective screens on his phone. Whatâs on there thatâs so important that I canât take a peek? What are you even doing?â
The sweet sound of Jakeâs giggles erases any trace of annoyance that you felt seconds ago. He turns his screen towards you, showing the list of mostly ticked boxes that heâs written up. âSee? I check most of these,â he says with a proud smile. âGuess your standards arenât that high.â You donât tell him that your standards are high, heâs just that amazing.Â
You do your best to look only amused at this even though inside, youâre all but freaking out. âWhich are you missing?â
âWell, I clearly own a privacy screen. And I donât have much experience. Not nearly as much as you, by the sounds of it,â he admits, somewhat sheepish. âBut other than that, Iâm practically the perfect man for you.â He looks down at you with a smile so bright, it makes you wish you had brought sunglasses. It takes everything in you not to scream right then and there. Yes, Jake, you are the perfect man for me, but I wish you wouldnât say it like it was a joke.
You let out a stiff chuckle, and, rather than saying something stupid and possibly damaging, shift the conversation to him. âWhat do you mean by not much experience? Have you not dated anyone?â
Jake sighs. âNope, not anyone. I went on a few dates, you know, went through a few talking stages and all that, but it never went much further. There was always somethingâŚâ He glances at you then. âMissing.â
âI know that feeling,â you say with a chuckle, and he laughs too, a breathy sound.
âI donât have a checklist to pinpoint what it is, though.â
You smile. âYou should try, it might help.â
âI just⌠I guess Iâm like you in that I also have high standards. But it made me not even want to give anyone a chance, especially since I knew it wouldnât end up anywhere.â
âDonât tell me no one has ever managed to reach the great Jake Simâs standards?â you ask, trying to keep your tone light.
Jake smiles, but it doesnât quite reach his eyes. âOf course someone has. Sheâs the whole reason I have standards in the first place. Itâs not my standards I compare people to, itâs her.â
Jealousy has never made you feel as sad as it is right now. âAnd⌠it didnât work out between you?â
Jake looks at you, eyes searching for something in yours but seemingly not finding it, and so he turns his gaze away. You donât know why you feel so disappointed. âNope,â he says, popping the âpâ. âShe didnât feel the same way.â
Whoever this girl is, you canât believe how stupid she is for passing up the opportunity to have Jake Sim. âThatâs⌠It sucks, Iâm sorry,â you say. You donât think spitting on this girl would make him feel any better, so you keep those thoughts to yourself.
âItâs okay,â he says with a small smile. âIt was a while ago already.â
âDoesnât sound like youâre quite over it, though,â you say, and youâre surprised but glad to see his smile widen.
âThatâs true.â His eyes meet yours again. âI donât think Iâll be over her anytime soon, either.â You have to look away to shield the pain that flashes through your eyes from him.
Pretending you donât have feelings for your best friend and that youâre okay with him being in love with someone else is like riding a bike: even after years of not doing it, it only takes a few minutes for you to be able to do it perfectly again. Muscle memory, if you will. So you sigh dramatically and throw your arm around Jakeâs shoulder, slightly pulling him down to your level. âDonât worry. Weâre going to have so much fun this year, youâll completely forget about her. Promise. She doesnât know what sheâs missing. Yeah?âÂ
He smiles down at you. You want nothing more but that glint of melancholy in his eyes to be gone. âYeah.â
--
Jake is only half-glad to see you havenât changed much from your childhood and early teenage years. Youâre still just as pretty, just as warm; itâs still as comfortable to be around you. Youâre also still as dense.
Then and now, he did everything he could to make his feelings for you very, very obvious. Either youâre completely oblivious, or the idea of dating him is so horrifying to you, you understand but pretend you donât. He really hopes itâs the former.Â
He arrived in Edinburgh just a bit over a week ago, and youâve seen each other almost every day. Out of those times, there isnât a single one where he hasnât tried to send something your way - something that says, hey, what if we stopped being friends and dated instead? Wouldnât that be cool? Canât you see how desperately I love you?, but you never latch on. The ballâs in your court, and he wants you to throw it back, but itâs been feeling more like a boomerang that always hits him right in the face when it circles back than a game of catch.
But heâs reminding himself not to be too greedy. Even if itâs just as friends, at least he has you back, so heâs satisfied with that. For now.
His first class of the year is on the following Tuesday morning, a ninety-minute seminar specifically made for exchange students called Discover Scotland. (He has Mondays free, resulting in a three-day weekend, which you and your 9am Monday tutorial are very envious of.) As interesting as the English Lit courses heâs taking seem, itâs this one heâs most looking forward to - except for the one class he shares with you, of course. Not even because of the seminars themselves, which will be about all sorts of topics on Scottish culture and history, but because of the coursework, as crazy as that sounds. It consists of a singular project, not due until the very last day of the semester, in which he has to travel to at least three different places in the country, research its background and provide a detailed account of his experience there. It can take any form: a written report, an in-class presentation, a podcast, anything. He could even film a TikTok if he wanted. Jake knew that being part of the Arts & Crafts club for two years in a row back in Seoul wasnât for nothing - his scrapbooking skills would finally have their time to shine.Â
That afternoon, he practically snatches you as you come out of your lecture, giving you little time to say bye to your friends, and makes you take him to the biggest stationary store you know in the city. If he wants to ace this project, he will need supplies. Many, many supplies. And itâs more fun shopping if youâre with him. You seem happy following him around the store, and when he asks you if you want to come on his trips with him, he can pretend itâs because you seem so excited about his project and not because he had thought of you accompanying him as soon as he heard about it.
As you stand in line at the till, you tell him that if he wants to start his project now, you could go to the beach together. You raise your eyebrows at him when he snaps your head towards you. âThereâs a beach here?!â
âDid you not look at a map before coming here?â you ask, amused.
âI guess I didnâtâŚâ he says, distraught at the new information. It only lasts a second, though. âOkay, letâs go now.â
âNow?â you echo, and he nods. âBut-â you start, but are interrupted by your thoughts. âI guess thereâs no reason not to. The weatherâs nice and itâs not like I have any uni work yet. Letâs go,â you agree, looking up at him with a smile. Youâre so pretty he almost forgets to look away, until the employee calls Next in a bored drawl.Â
An hour later, youâre at the beach, barefoot on the sand and ice cream in hand. Strawberry for you and vanilla for him, he notes with a smile. Really not much has changed, he thinks. From the sand, to the water, to the promenade along the beach, Portobello is worlds away from the beaches back home in Australia, or those of Jeju Island. But itâs still nice, and because youâre with him, itâs even better. Youâve been walking around for an hour, splashing each other with water and mercilessly ruining sandcastles left behind before he realises you technically came here for his project. He writes down things he doesnât want to forget on his phone and snaps a few pictures, sneaking a few of you when youâre not looking. He wants to tell you how beautiful you are with your hair blowing in the wind and the way the chill bites at your cheeks, but he keeps it a secret between him and his Notes app.Â
Even though he lives two stops further down, he gets off from the bus with you, containing his excitement as best he can when you invite him up for a cup of tea. âDepends. What tea do you have?â he asks, trying and failing to play it cool. Heâs just grateful he doesnât have to come up with an excuse to spend more time with you.
You roll your eyes playfully as you unlock the front door to your building. âI can make you hot chocolate, Mister Tea-Is-For-Old-People.â
He chuckles. âActually, Iâll have you know I started drinking tea at uni.â When you turn around to look at him, a surprised look on your face, he nods proudly. âMh-hm. I got addicted to caffeine very quickly into first year so I started drinking black tea for the sake of my heart,â he explains.
âGod,â you say breathily, sounding mildly horrified. âA caffeine addiction sounds intense.â
âIt was, yeah,â he says, laughing as he follows you into your flat.Â
Yunjin and Chaewon are sitting at the living room table, watching an episode of what he thinks is Gossip Girl, and they greet him as normally as these two can, but he wonders what the knowing look they exchange is all about. Heâd met them the previous weekend when you had all gone for drinks together, along with Jay, Yunjinâs boyfriend, and they had all but grilled him on his relationship with you. He hadnât thought much of it, chalking it up to your friends feeling protective of you, and truthfully, he was just happy to get to talk about you. But now, he was wondering if you had told them anything about him that made them so curious about him. If you did, he hoped it was something positive.
He stands awkwardly in the kitchen, chatting with you as you boil the water and get cups out, but he can feel their gazes burning the back of his head. Clearly, whatever conversation heâs having with you, heâs also having it with them. âHow do you take your tea?â you ask.
âUm, three sugars and lots of milk, please,â he says, smiling innocently when you slowly turn to look at him, a mix of disapproval, disgust, and offence on your face.Â
You sigh deeply. âI mean, Iâll do it, but Iâm not sure thatâs even tea anymore.â
âYouâre one to talk, Miss Caramel Frappuccino,â he says, recycling your bad joke from earlier.
âAt least I donât claim to be drinking coffee when I order a frap,â you argue. âAnd this is how you battled your coffee addiction? Youâll be getting another kind of heart problem, Jakey.â He doesnât know if you even notice your use of his old nickname - the first time youâve used it since heâs been here - but you donât make a big deal of it, so he doesnât either. Not outwardly, at least. Mentally, heâs running laps around your small kitchen.
Jake laughs it off. âI thought I came here for tea, not a health check-up,â he says, smile growing wider at the sight of yours.Â
âRight, sorry,â you say, giggling. âIâll make your tea just how you like it,â you add in a sweet voice. Jake knows youâre just doing it as a joke, but it still manages to make butterflies erupt in his stomach.Â
His tea tastes even sweeter that day.

A few days after your impromptu trip to the beach, youâre waiting for Jake outside of his class. He heard of this donut shop he âabsolutely needs to visitâ and is dragging you along with him - well, âdraggingâ is a big word considering youâd follow him anywhere. You got here a few minutes early, not needing much of a reason to leave the library, so you scroll through your feed until Jake calls out your name. Youâre only mildly surprised to see Jay leaving the classroom behind him.
âY/N! Can you believe that Jay and I are in the same class?â he says excitedly as the two boys walk toward you. You feel like a dog owner being greeted by their over-enthusiastic dog after a long day (about three hours) of being apart.
âI can believe it, actually. You two do the same degree.â
You exchange quick greetings with Jay before the three of you start heading out. As you walk, Jake throws his arm around your shoulders so casually, it almost throws you off balance. Physical contact always came easy to him, but thereâs something about him doing it next to someone else that catches you off guard. It reminds you of walking somewhere with Jay and Yunjin as they discretely held hands. It makes you feel like itâs not the three of you, but Jay with the two of you. Like you and Jake come as a pair rather than as two individuals.Â
All of that from a simple arm around your shoulders.
Jake asking you in a very unsubtle whisper whether Jay can come with brings you out of your head and back into the conversation. âYeah, of course,â you say, smiling. Itâs not a bad idea to have Jay along: hanging out with someone else might snap you out of your delusion.
Most of the walk to the shop is done in laughter as Jake and Jay realise how much random stuff they have in common, from their peanut allergies to the embarrassing Harry Potter phase they had as fifteen-year-olds. Grassmarket is really busy on Friday afternoons, and thereâs a bit of a queue of other donut-enjoyers in front of the boutique, but you donât mind. The sun is shining down gently on the square and it gives you time to choose your donut out of the ten or so flavours available. In the end, you go for white chocolate and raspberry, while Jake chooses Biscoff and Jay, tiramisu.Â
âMy friend Sunghoon would love this,â he says after taking a hearty bite. âHe goes crazy over tiramisu. Like a cat with catnip.â
Jake chuckles, mouth full of Biscoff. âThatâs funny, I also have a friend named Sunghoon who loves tiramisu back in Seoul.â
Jay punches Jakeâs shoulder, eyes wide in amusement and shock. âBro, thatâs crazy. You have to be lying at this point,â he says, but Jake shakes his head fervently.Â
âI promise Iâm not. Iâve even saved his number with the tiramisu emoji.â
âThereâs a tiramisu emoji?â Jay asks, already over questioning the existence of Jakeâs Sunghoon.
The conversation circles back to the courses youâre all taking this semester, and Jake tells Jay about Discover Scotland and the trips heâs planned so far. âWell, if you really want to discover Scotland as a student, you need to go on a night out in Glasgow,â Jay says. Going by the look on Jakeâs face, Jayâs idea seems to have struck a chord in him.
âY/N?â
You nod, finishing your mouthful of donut before speaking. âYeah, Glasgowâs really fun. We should go,â you say, laughing when the two boys high-five in victory. Between the train, the drinks and the club entry, going out isnât a cheap ordeal, and getting to and fro also takes a while - even so, the smile on Jakeâs face makes it worth it.Â
He wipes some raspberry jam from the corner of your mouth, shooting you a wink, and you want to disintegrate right then and there, become one with the bench youâre sitting on and never have to face him again. The conversation resumes as Jay tells Jake about all the best places to go out in Glasgow, but you donât hear a word - the feeling of Jakeâs thumb so close to your lips takes away your ability for coherent thought.
âItâs decided, then. Weâre going out tomorrow night,â Jay loudly announces. âLet me gather the troops.â
Thatâs how you find yourself in line for the club the next day, already tipsy from pre-drinking on the train and at the pub. Itâs still warm enough for you and the girls to wear as little clothing as you want, but Jake insisted on giving you his flannel jacket anyway. If not for the warmth it brings, youâre glad to have his scent enveloping you.
The five of you work exceptionally well together. You, Chaewon and Yunjin have been a given since you met in first year, and Jay and Yunjin went so well together that he was but a natural addition to your little group. Jakeâs only been here for over a week, but itâs like heâs always been around, and you couldnât be happier about it. Him and Jay hit it off immediately, and although the girls needed some time to warm up to him (itâs not everyday that you meet your friendâs ex-best-friend sheâs practically always been in love with; you understand why they mightâve been wary at first), they now tease him just as relentlessly as they do Jay. He takes it like a champ.
For a little while, you watch your friends speaking over each other, bickering over nothing, a smile on your face. Two pints of cider and some of Jayâs fancy vodka have made you more grateful than ever for them - if you drink too much in the club, youâll be hugging them and crying about how much you love them. Youâre not sure what that might look like around Jake, so you decide to keep yourself in check for the night.Â
It takes about thirty minutes before you manage to get into the club. Itâs not coat check season yet, so you head straight to the bar. âSunghoon said heâd meet us here,â Jay says, lifting his head to spot his friend in the sea of drunk students. âOh yeah, there he is! Hoon, hey!âÂ
You hear a loud âJongseong!â being shouted from somewhere in the crowd, but youâre not sure who Jay is waving at until a boy whose face is mostly eyebrows is standing - well, standing as best as he can, with the copious amount of alcohol heâs obviously already consumed - in front of you. He gives Jay a hug and the three of you a nod of his head, a lopsided smile on his face. When he turns to Jake, his eyebrows lift first, then his face breaks into a wide grin.
âJake, my man!â he shouts, taking a stunned Jakeâs hand and bringing him into a hug.Â
âSunghoon? What the hell are you doing here?â he asks, chuckling and frowning in confusion.Â
âIâm just partying, man! Same as you!â
âNo, I mean here in Scotland, you dumbass!â
âYou two know each other?â Jay asks, looking back and forth between his two friends.
âJakeâs my man!â Sunghoon exclaims, unhelpful and stumbling as he throws an arm around his manâs shoulders. Jake shoots you a distressed look but you just laugh at him.
âThis is Tiramisu Sunghoon I told you about,â Jake says, helping Sunghoon stand up straight.
âGod, what I would do for a tiramisu right now,â Sunghoon says, looking at Yunjin like she might relate. She chuckles awkwardly.
âI have no idea what heâs doing in Scotland, though. Hoon, I thought you were going to NYU for your exchange?â
Sunghoon pauses to think for a second, looking like heâs never heard of NYU in his life. âOh, that! Yeah, I did an online orientation thing and⌠it did not go well. Letâs just say thereâs someone in New York City who wants me dead,â he says conspiratorially. You all stare at him but he gives no further explanation. On your right, you hear Yunjin whisper what the fuck under her breath. âSo I transferred here instead!â
âI didnât know you were an exchange student,â Jay says, still looking just as confused.
âYeah, man! But anyways, letâs not talk about uni right now. Iâm on a bender, day three, baby! Do not talk to me tomorrow,â he says, chuckling until the smile suddenly drops from his face. âI mean that.â You look around yourself, glad to find everyone is just as baffled as you. âLetâs party!â Sunghoon cheers, intoxicated grin back on his lips. Jake and Jay follow, but you and the girls stay back for a second, taking in everything that has just happened.
âThat. Is the most beautiful man I have ever seen,â Chaewon blurts, staring blankly at the spot Sunghoon stood in a second ago.
âYeah, he also seems to be a raging alcoholic. And heâs what, twenty-one?â Yunjin says, a scowl on her face.Â
âI could fix him.â
âOkay, letâs go,â you say, grabbing your friends by their wrists before either of them can say something worse.
Feeling generous, Sunghoon buys shots for all six of you, and you quickly down them before heading to the dancefloor. On your way there, a group of sober-looking girls hand Chaewon a giant, still almost full jug of red liquid, something that costs at least twelve pounds here. They say theyâre leaving and donât need it anymore, smiling as you profusely and astonishedly thank them. You look at your friends, mentally weighing the risk and drugging possibility this might present, but shrug and pass the jug around after taking hearty sips anyway. It tastes so much like fizzy cherries that you wonder if it even contains any alcohol, but sure enough, twenty minutes later, the three of you are spinning around on the dancefloor, screaming the lyrics to your favourite pop songs at the top of your lungs. Jake at a club is a completely foreign sight to you, and you canât stop laughing at all the silly moves he pulls.Â
Youâre shaking your whole body to a Nicki song from the early 2010s when you suddenly feel a hand on your hip. Before you can turn around and slap whoever this random man is that thinks he can touch you, a familiar voice whispers itâs just me in your ear, and you simultaneously relax and tense up knowing that Jake is standing right behind you. âThereâs a creep staring at you,â he explains, lips and breath gently tickling your ear as he speaks. You look around the room and quickly notice a man standing in a corner, drink in one hand and the other in his pocket, unmoving as he eyes you with a smirk so slimy it makes your stomach turn. To avoid his gaze, you turn around, but youâre not sure the sight youâre met with is much better for you.
Jake peers down at you, eyes slightly glossed over and cheeks flushed from the alcohol, jaw locked in annoyance. He glances at the guy in the corner, who you assume is still staring when you feel Jakeâs hands brush along your sides until they reach your waist. His gaze returns to your face as he brings you a step closer to him. Reflexively, you wrap your arms around his neck.Â
âIs this okay?â he mouths. All you can do is meekly nod. You watch as his eyes deliberately scan your face, going down and down. Time stills when they reach your lips and stay there. Itâs like someone has put the booming music of the club on mute, and the only thing you can hear is your heart loudly beating in your ears. You suddenly feel very sober.
You swear Jakeâs face is slowly inching its way towards yours when youâre abruptly taken away. Yunjin has grabbed you by the forearm, leading you and Chaewon to the bathroom as she chants âBathroom break! Bathroom break!â, clearly unaware of the moment sheâs just interrupted.
Because of the queue for the girlsâ bathroom and Chaewonâs decision to console this random girl who was in the middle of a breakdown, itâs not until half-an-hour later that you emerge back into the crowd. You spot the boys at a table, two empty shots each in front of them and all three with a beer in hand. They will not be happy checking their bank accounts tomorrow morning.Â
âY/N! Youâre back!â Jake calls out happily when he spots you, and you can tell right away that heâs much drunker than when you left him. His whole face is flush, his eyes donât open quite all the way, and a lopsided smile wonât leave his lips - even like this, heâs so pretty that you want to grab his hand and take him somewhere itâs just the two of you.Â
Chaewon gets drinks for the three of you and then youâre dancing again. Itâs already one am at this point, and the remaining two hours until the club closes, fueled with alcohol and good music, go by in a flash. Before you know it, the DJ is playing All of Me by John Legend and the lights have been turned on, clear signs that youâre overstaying your welcome. The few people that have made it to closing time stumble out of the club and into the street, heading for either the nearest subway stop or the next party of the night. Since there are no trains at this time, your group walks to the close-by bus station, listening to Jake and Sunghoon grumble about how the clubs in Seoul donât close until at least five or six and how trains run all night there.Â
The bus is already at the station when you get there, and the driver doesnât seem too pleased about having six mildly drunk kids get on his bus, but heâs probably used to questionable people taking public transport at this time of the day anyway. Physically, Sunghoon is sitting across from you, but mentally, heâs off somewhere far, far from this bus. With his head against the window and mouth wide open, saliva pooling at the corner of his lips, he looks like heâs any second away from obnoxiously snoring. Jay and Yunjin are sitting somewhere you canât see them, probably eating each otherâs faces; she once told you they had their âmost mind-blowing sexâ when both a little drunk, and much to your dismay, you havenât been able to get that piece of information out of your head since. Chaewon is on the phone to her long-distance bestie Sakura, for whom itâs a nice eleven in the morning right now.Â
This means that you and Jake are left alone, both of you still tipsy and not tired enough to fall asleep. You drop your head on Jakeâs shoulder, and not only does he let you, he also takes your hand in his, interlacing your fingers and placing them atop his thigh. Clumsily, because he now has to use his left hand, Jake slips his phone out of his back pocket and shows you the photos he took all evening. As the night progresses, they get blurrier and blurrier, so much so that towards the end, you canât tell what he was even trying to capture, and you laugh at how inappropriate some of these would be to submit in a university project.Â
When he softly says your name, you donât raise your head, simply humming to let him know youâre listening. You close your eyes, cherishing the way your name sounds on his lips. Itâs his tone, tentative and vulnerable as he tells you thereâs something heâs been wanting to ask you, that makes you look up at him. He, however, wonât meet your eyes, and settles his gaze on the window, even though itâs so dark outside you canât make out a thing.
âHow come you never replied to my letter? I know itâs been ages, but⌠I still find myself wondering about it.â The question is softly asked and you know he by no means wants to hurt you, but it still feels like a punch to the throat. You hadnât remembered who it was that had sent the last letter, while heâd been wondering all these years why his words had been left unanswered.Â
He seems set on not looking at you, so you rest your head back on his shoulder. Your hand is still in his. âIâm not sure, Jakey. Iâm sorry,â you say, aware itâs not a satisfying answer. Youâve thought about why you and Jake had stopped talking for hours on end; youâve discussed it with your friends and your mum, looked at it from all sorts of angles, tried to come up with real reasons other than time pulling you apart. But now that Jake himself is asking you about it, the words donât come easy. Youâve theorised that you were afraid putting effort into sustaining your friendship would only hurt you in the end, because it was just that - a friendship. You could fool yourself into thinking you were okay only being friends with him when he was with you, that putting your feelings aside was worth it since you could at least spend time with him. But now that he was away, you didnât have that anymore - it just hurt. So what was the point? And how could you phrase all this without betraying your feelings for him?
âOur letters were so sparse anyway back then, even our texts and calls were getting less and less frequent⌠And whenever I had a new boyfriend, Iâd get into the same argument about being too close to you over and over again, even though you were literally on another continent.âÂ
âYou know, I always felt sorry about that.â
âAbout what?â
âThose boyfriends of yours. I felt like you waited for me to leave before you started dating-â
âIt wasnât like that!â you exclaim, lifting your head again. Finally, he meets your eyes, gaze softening upon seeing your affronted expression. âIt wasnât like that,â you repeat, relaxing your tone. âIf anything, they were the ones that waited for you to be gone. I'm sorry I let their jealousy get to me.â
Jake smiles, the tenderness in his gaze making your whole body turn to jelly. He squeezes your hands. âItâs okay. I just⌠I felt like I was always in the way of your relationships, even after I left.â
âYou donât have to feel sorry about that. They shouldâve had more trust in me.â
He pauses, gaze dropping down to your intertwined hands. âI wouldâve been jealous.â When his eyes find yours again, thereâs something in them that you quite canât place. It creates a ball of nerves that pull at your stomach. âIf I were dating you, and you had a guy friend you were as close with as we were back then, Iâd be jealous. You know, Iâd assume he had feelings for you. And that you might have feelings for him, too.â
Because I did, you think. I did, and I still do. You try to communicate that thought to Jake, but telepathy works especially bad when one has as much alcohol coursing through their veins as you do right now. So instead, you say the opposite of what youâre thinking, turning away from Jake to avoid his gaze. You watch the dribble of saliva trickle from Sunghoonâs lips. âThatâs not a great view of male-female friendship.âÂ
Jakeâs retort comes immediately. âBut we were different, right?â
His words echo through your head until they make even less sense than they did initially. Different from what? From who? Youâre not sure - but you like the idea of you and Jake being different, special. You especially like the idea of Jake thinking so. So you look at him and smile. âRight.âÂ
Slowly, his grin fades and turns into a worried expression. âY/N?â
âMm?â
âWeâre still different now, arenât we?â
You want to wrap him in your arms so tightly neither of you can breathe. You settle for running a hand through his hair and pinching his cheek. âCourse we are.â Your whole being relaxes when his face breaks into a smile again.Â
--
The next morning, you wake up to Yunjin plopping down on your bed unceremoniously, shaking you awake, and asking you if you want anything from Snax CafĂŠ. On one hand, youâre grateful that she thought of you and that in thirty minutesâ time, youâll have the greasiest sausage wrap and hash browns known to man in your hand; on the other, youâd like to think that she knows you well enough to know to order your regular from there without asking. But thatâs probably the hangover talking.
You stumble out of bed, thanking last nightâs you for having remembered to take headache medicine before crashing. Even if your stomach is very upset with the copious amount of alcohol it needs to rid your body of, and your throat is begging for water, at least your head doesnât feel like itâs been split into two. As Yunjin barges into Chaewonâs room just as she had done yours, you head for the kitchen to get yourself a tall glass of revitalising tap water. Youâre only mildly surprised to find Sunghoon passed out on your living room couch - it takes you a few seconds to remember that the three of you took pity on him when you learned he lived over an hourâs walk from the station, so you let him spend the night on your uncomfortable, cold leather sofa. While you down your glass in three gulps, you hear Yunjin shaking Sunghoon awake and asking him loudly if he wanted something from Snax.
âFuck, Iâd kill for a Snax right now,â he groggily says before heâs even opened his eyes. When he does, they dart around the room until they land on Yunjin, who's crouching in front of him. He looks like he thought her question was asked in a dream and not in real life. He also looks like he's not quite sure where he is, or who Yunjin is. It isnât until Jay comes wobbling out of Yunjinâs bed to the couch opposite Sunghoon that the memories seem to piece back together in his head. The three of you watch him like heâs an unstable mental patient and youâre his doctors.Â
âNo need for that, Iâm ordering it on Deliveroo.â He nods his head and goes back to sleep for the time being.Â
Just as youâre about to text Jake, your phone rings with a call from him. His raspy morning voice as he asks you whether you slept well makes you want to put your head in an oven heated at 200 degrees Celsius. However, you resist the urge, and answer him with a smile, then ask him the same question.
âI slept pretty well too. Iâd have slept in longer but one of my flatmates decided to have a Sunday fucking brunch and his friends are so loud. Can I come over?â
Youâre very aware of the other people in the room, especially of Chaewon who has just walked in and is eyeing you suspiciously as if to say, Why are you smiling so hard at ten in the morning? You know the girls would jump at any opportunity to tease you about Jake, and with the added presence of Sunghoon in the room, you canât have that. So you stifle the giggles bubbling in your throat and answer as nonchalantly as you can. It also gives you the chance to reflect on why Jake Sim asking you whether he can come over makes you want to giggle like a giddy schoolgirl so much.
(Maybe itâs because when it comes to him, youâre still the giddy schoolgirl you used to be.)
âYeah, of course. I was going to ask you if you wanted anything from Snax, actually.â
âSnax? Whatâs that?â
âOh my God, Jake, am I about to introduce you to Snax right now?â
Twenty minutes later, the six of you are sitting around your small living room table, all varying amounts of tired, dehydrated and famished as you dig into your breakfast. Given your current levels of energy, itâs fairly quiet; plus, the food hits such a spot that itâs hard to talk and eat at the same time. Jake eats like heâs never had a breakfast wrap and hash brown in his life. Itâs an endearing sight if youâve ever seen one.Â
You spend the afternoon together, watching movies curled up in your bed, and you try desperately not to think about the implications of that - except thatâs hard to do when Jake is right next to you, legs and arms ever-so-slightly brushing against yours, his warmth so close yet so out of reach. You purposefully let him pick movies youâve already seen so that you donât have to focus on anything but your own thoughts and the faint but dizzying scent of his body wash. The both of you had an innumerable amount of sleepovers as kids, so this shouldnât feel weird, but it decidedly does, probably because youâre much more aware of him now in a way you werenât before. Â
As hard as you try to figure out what exactly he meant by âdifferent,â you draw a blank. The only way youâll understand is if you ask him, and youâre far too scared to do that. You donât want to seem so hung upon a singular word he used when he was tipsy. It might be slightly dramatic, but you felt like some sort of balance had been restored since Jake was back in your life - the problem was it made you scared to do anything that might threaten this newfound equilibrium. It at least seems like different means a good thing to him, and thatâs enough for you.Â
You look over to him when the second movie comes to an end. Heâs sleeping peacefully, lashes caressing the skin under his eyes and cheeks looking rounder than usual. Itâd be so easy to reach a finger out and trace the line descending from the top of his forehead to his chin, gliding along the bump of his nose and feeling the plumpness of his rosy lips, but you settle for drawing that line with your eyes instead. Â
You donât think youâll be able to fall asleep with him next to you and your heart beating so loudly in your ears, but you find yourself waking up a few hours later, the sun already starting to set. Jake is already awake, scrolling on his phone, one arm casually behind his head as if being in your bed is as comfortable to him as being in his own. When he sees youâve woken up, his honey-coated smile washes warmly over you, and he makes a joke about how he keeps on falling asleep when heâs with you. âI feel that at ease, I guess,â he says, and you hope youâre not making up the small blush that spreads over his cheeks.Â
--
Semesters are always a short and intense affair, but this one passes by even quicker with Jake by your side. Before you know it, itâs midterms already, and you and Jake have travelled enough for him to complete his project and make another one just for the hell of it. He had scoured the internet for the cheapest train tickets and most noteworthy sites, planning trips that lasted anywhere between three hours and a day for the two of you. All you needed to do was follow and trust him, which was the easiest thing anyone couldâve asked of you.Â
Youâve gone back to Glasgow, during the day, this time, as well as St. Andrews and Aberdeen. Youâve practically visited every loch and castle in a one-hour train ride radius of Edinburgh, and Jake has more lined up for the second part of the semester. Heâs even said that your trips should continue being a thing next term, and you couldnât have agreed faster. With every new destination, every train ride spent looking out a window or laughing about everything and anything, any odd Scottish food you try for the first time, you somehow fall for him a bit deeper. You didnât know your love for him could bloom any more than it already had - but Jake is the gift that keeps on giving, and, unwillingly or not, he always finds new ways to make your heart speed that much faster.
Attentionate, affectionate, sweet Jake who always makes sure youâre comfortable wherever you go, always gives you his jacket or tucks your hair behind your ear to prevent it from falling in your face. Who, as time passed, grew more touchy, would hold your hand, ruffle your hair, pinch your cheek, which was simultaneously devastating and elating. Who, you could tell, started to linger more, both in his touch and in his gaze. Questions of does he love me back or am I seeing what I want to see? nearly drove you mad.Â
--
âI feel like at this point the only way sheâll understand that I like her is if I kill myself and write in my suicide note that itâs her fault for not loving me back.â
Jake has been pacing back and forth in Jayâs living room for approximately twenty minutes, with no end in sight. At least heâll have gotten most of his ten thousand steps of the day in.
Jay sighs heavily. âOkay, I really donât think you need to go that far.â
âSounds romantic to me,â Sunghoon says, mouth full of salted caramel popcorn.
âI hope you never get a girlfriend,â Jay retorts, looking at his deranged friend with a scowl. He turns back to his (slightly more) normal friend and gives him a sympathetic smile.Â
âI mean, I told her we were different. Different. That we werenât like regular friends. I tell her sheâs pretty every chance I get. I give her my jacket all the time, even though this country is fucking cold. Iâve even given her a t-shirt of mine, sprayed with my perfume and everything. And donât get me wrong, I do it âcause I love doing that for her-â
âSimp,â Sunghoon snickers.
âBut what the hell else can I do? Like, she has to be ignoring it on purpose at this point.âÂ
âYou could always, you know⌠tell her?â
Jake scoffs, fixing his friend with a derisive look. âWow. What a great idea, Jay, I never thought of that one before!â
A popcorn lands right on Jayâs cheek. âYouâre so clueless, man,â Sunghoon says, a shit-eating smirk on his lips. As if he knows any better.
Jay looks back-and-forth between his friends, an expression on his face like heâs been disparaged. âSorry, I didnât know being straightforward and honest was such a bad thing. It would just make things a lot clearer for the both of you.â
âBut⌠Iâm scared,â Jake says.Â
âMan up!â Sunghoon suddenly yells, punching the sofa next to him, making his friends jump. âHow can she ever figure it out if you donât tell her?â
âYou were on my side just a second ago, man, what are you doing?â Jake asks, confusion written all over his face. Sunghoonâs eyes dart back and forth between the two boys, retreating into silence as he stuffs his mouth with another handful of popcorn.
âJust ignore him,â Jay says. âBut for once, he did say something that makes a modicum of sense. You think youâre being really obvious, but you might not actually be. Which could be a good sign, you know. I heard girls were super aware of a guy liking them if they werenât into him, but being totally oblivious if they did like him.â
âWhere did you hear that?â Jake asks, an eyebrow raised in suspicion.
â...Instagram Reels,â Jay reluctantly admits, frowning at Sunghoon who bursts into laughter.Â
Jake holds the bridge of his nose between two fingers like his head aches. âYouâre both so useless, Iâm never coming to you with my problems ever again.â
âIâll pretend Iâm not offended by that.â
âIâd rather you didnât, anyway,â Sunghoon says. Heâs smiling but Jake genuinely canât tell if heâs joking or not.
âBut seriously, if you think youâve done everything, then just do one last thing thatâs so obvious she canât misinterpret it,â Jay says.
âLike what?â
âLike kissing her, or some-â
âKissing her?!â Jake echoes.
âThatâs wild, man,â Sunghoon uselessly butts in.
âItâs just an example, calm yourselves,â Jay says. âOr, again, just straight up tell her how you feel. Itâs what I did with Yunjin, and it worked.â
âYou and Yunjin are dating?â Sunghoon asks, bewildered.
Jay shakes his head at him. âWhere the hell have you been, bro? We were literally cuddling on the couch the other day.â
âI just thought you were really good friends, or something.â
Jake groans, holding his head in his hands. Sunghoon was of no help whatsoever, and Jay was so on point that it annoyed him. Confessing was the only solution - but Jake was so afraid of being rejected and losing your friendship that he had barely entertained the thought. But he had found the courage to do it once, and even though his planned confession had fallen through back then, he could get himself together and do it again.Â
It was the day he had told you he was moving to Korea, which he himself had learned that morning. Originally, heâd texted you because he had news to share - good news. Or at least, he hoped they were good. He hoped the soft, lingering looks you gave him werenât a figment of his imagination but rather the confirmation he needed that you liked him back. He hoped that like him, you cared too much about your friendship to make the first move into something else; that by confessing first, youâd be relieved of that responsibility; that his wish to hold your hand and kiss your forehead wasnât one-sided.Â
He decided not to prepare anything - just a couple sentences that heâd rehearsed over and over in his head. Declarations of love, bouquets of flowers, chocolate and couple keychains, all that could wait until after youâd said yes to being his girlfriend. He didnât want to win you over just once, he wanted to show you every day how much he loved you. Fourteen-year-old Jake was absolutely head over heels for you; so imagine his disappointment when, as he was getting ready to meet with you, his parents called him downstairs, a tone to their voice Jake wasnât familiar with, but that couldnât mean anything good.Â
âYour dadâs job is sending us back to Seoul next month,â his mom announced, not beating around the bush. He felt everything quite literally crumbling down around him. His friends in Brisbane, his school, his hobbies, but above all, you. Heâd lose it all. And what was the point now in telling you how he felt? If you felt the same way, it would only make his departure that much harder, and if you didnât, it would ruin your last moments together. It just wasnât worth it.
What he had planned to be good news turned into the most awful ones. The thought of it happening all over again makes twenty-year-old Jake shudder. But he wouldnât let himself be trapped by time again - sure, in seven months, the academic year would be over, and he would go back to Korea. But that didnât mean that those seven months should be spent in agony, or the following ones either, for that matter. You would make it work. What was long-distance to someone who loved someone else as much as Jake loved you?
But he doesnât want to get ahead of himself. He has to start by really resolving to do this, and in the off-chance that it actually goes in his favour, heâd start worrying about long distance then.
First, he has a trip to plan.
--
You shouldâve known that a trip to the Scottish Highlands in the middle of November was a risky choice in terms of weather. The day started off nicely enough - no sign of rain when you woke up or as you watched the sunrise through the train window. Clouds turned the sky a bright white at first, then increasingly greyer and greyer. You feel the first drops of rain after lunch as you walk around a small village. By four pm, itâs pitch black and storming like youâve rarely seen before. You head into a pub to grab a drink as you wait for the rain to subside, but subside it does not. You end up ordering fish and chips, one each, although one serving is enough to feed three. Even after taking your time eating, the bad weather does not let up. The last train, which is meant to be at eight pm, has been cancelled. Luckily, thereâs an inn right across the road from the pub; you have no choice but to spend the night.Â
The inn receptionist is sitting so low on her chair, you can barely see her over the desk until youâre standing right over it. Her face is hidden by a book and itâs only when you say hiya that she seems to realise youâre there. You had never heard of the book or of its author, but you recognized the cover design as that of those romance novels with repetitive plots and weirdly misogynistic love interests your mum and every other middle-aged woman was obsessed with.
Her smile widens as she looks between you and Jake. âHi there. One room for the lovely couple?â
âOh, weâre not-â
âYes, please,â Jake interrupts, smiling down at her, then at you. âItâll be cheaper if we share a room.â
âOur only room with two single beds is already taken, Iâm afraid. One double bed okay for you two?â
You feel like youâre about to faint, so youâre glad Jake is there to answer. âYeah, of course.â How the idea of sharing one bed with you is so okay to him, youâre not sure - granted, youâve done it before, but this feels different. For all intents and purposes, this is a hotel room youâre staying in. And youâre staying in it with Jake.Â
You try to calm your breathing as the receptionist guides you to your room, chatting casually with Jake on the way there. As she unlocks the door for you, she informs you that check-out must be done before eleven in the morning tomorrow, then bids you good night and leaves you to it, still wearing that smile you swear has mischievousness to it. The door clicks shut behind you, and itâs just Jake and you again, together in this small room until tomorrow morning. Your chances of survival are very, very low.Â
Your room is a humble one, consisting of a desk, a cupboard, two armchairs, a small, separate bathroom and the infamous bed. Every surface seems to be covered with wood, from the ceiling, to the walls, to the old-fashioned furniture. Only the floor is a soft, beige carpet. Especially with the darkness outside, it makes for a gloomy room until you turn on the lamp by the entrance; it casts a warm, golden light in the room, one that would make you feel at ease if it wasnât for Jakeâs presence next to you. The implications of being essentially trapped in a barely-lit room with him are heavy on your mind, especially when he looks this gorgeous with his hair still damp from the rain and the soft lights playing on his face.Â
His voice brings you out of your thoughts. âRight. Do you, um, do you wanna shower first?â he asks, setting his bag on one of the armchairs.
âOh. Yeah, sure.â There has never been such an awkward tension between the two of you, but you know youâre not doing anything to ease it. You hope a shower will help you get out of your head and make you relax.
You feel the tension leave your muscles under the hot water, but your stomach is still in knots. Youâve never been this nervous around Jake before; back when you were fourteen and again in these past few months, youâd gotten so used to dealing with your unspoken feelings for him that you could almost forget about them when you were with him. Theyâd come back to you when you were alone and dwelling on the moments youâd spent together, on his words and actions you desperately tried not to read too much into but always ended up doing anyway. But right now, theyâve floated to the surface, becoming as obvious to you as a stain on your skin you canât rub away. Youâre scared Jake will notice it, and, in the worst case scenario you often thought about, would run away and never speak to you again.Â
At least the raging storm outside would make that a bit harder.
When you step out of the shower, you curse yourself for not having worn more comfortable clothes on this trip. You definitely canât wear these jeans and button-up sweater to lounge around. Thankfully, the inn provides two long bathrobes that you could wear over underwear and your tank top, but you wonder where on the scale of inappropriate this would be to wear with Jake in the room. Heâs seen you in short pyjama shorts before, but this, like everything else that would usually be normal between the two of you, feels weird today.Â
You wrap the bathrobe around yourself, tying it in place around your waist, and decide that itâd only be weird if you made it weird. And if Jake found the sight of your bare legs weird, then he was the weird one.
The scene youâre met with as you walk into the room makes you want to retreat into the bathroom immediately. Jake is lying on the bed with his upper half against the headboard, one leg extended and the other one bent, resting his head against one palm, using his free hand to scroll through his phone. His t-shirt has ridden up slightly, putting the waistband of his Calvin Kleins into view. Worst of all, when he sees you, his face breaks into a grin.Â
Your stomach twists when he gives you a once-over, letting his gaze linger on your legs. âDid you bring a bathrobe with you or was it included?â he asks with an annoyingly handsome smirk.
You roll your eyes. âYes, I bring a bathrobe with me wherever I go,â you say sarcastically. âNow shut up and go shower, you stink.â Reverting to insults is always the solution when youâre internally freaking out.
âYes, maâam.âÂ
He takes so long in the shower that by the time he comes out, youâve dozed off in bed. As if you were a child, he wakes you up with a boop to the nose, crouching next to the bed and smiling at you. His wet hair falls on his head like that of a movie star in a shower scene, which you find extremely unfair, and his cheeks are red from the warmth of the water.Â
âItâs still early. Do you wanna go grab another drink?â
âIn our bathrobes?â you say, laughing. âNah, I donât really feel like drinking anyway.â Read: Iâm not sure what Iâll do with alcohol in me.
âOkay, no worries. Um, I think I saw they had board games in the lobby?â
Your ears perk up at this. âOoh, what kind of board games?â
Putting jeans on underneath his bathrobe, Jake slips away for a minute and comes back with Monopoly, Uno, and a deck of cards. âThey didnât have much for two players,â he says, dumping everything on the bed.Â
You already knew that anything would become fun if you did it with Jake, but you definitely didnât expect to spend almost five hours just playing Monopoly and card games with him. Neither of you stays put for very long, always switching from sitting criss-cross to laying on your stomach, making fun of the otherâs bathrobe even though youâre wearing the exact same thing. You make each other laugh as you make up your own nonsense rules and disregard the laws of your games, attacking the other ruthlessly for a couple extra points or coins. Jake even makes you go get snacks from a corner store thatâs miraculously still open because you lose the first round of Uno.Â
After some time, Jake lets out a loud yawn, which in turn makes you yawn too. He checks his phone to find that itâs close to midnight already. âTime for bed?â he asks, and your nervousness that had finally dissipated as you played came rushing back.Â
You nod. âYeah, sounds good.â
The two of you clean up before brushing your teeth. Even that, with Jake by your side, becomes a silly affair as he pulls faces in the mirror and nudges your hip with his. You stay behind to use the toilet, and when you come back out, Jakeâs already in bed, bathrobe tossed on one of the armchairs. This means that Jake is just casually in a t-shirt and boxers, waiting for you to join him in bed. Luckily, his back is turned to you, so you quickly take off your own bathrobe and slide under the sheets, careful to keep your distance from him. The sheets are cold underneath you, and you know itâll take a while before your body heat warms them up - although you feel very hot and bothered because of the man lying next to you.Â
âGosh, Iâm really sleepy all of a sudden,â he says, words distorted by a yawn. You only hum in response, and he reaches for the lamp to turn it off. Just like that, youâre in complete darkness, and Jakeâs body is mere inches from your own.Â
Itâs eerily quiet for a while, and when youâve managed to slow your heartbeat and regularise your breathing, you start trying to fall asleep. You toss and turn, unable to find a comfortable position until Jakeâs low, sleepy voice breaks the silence. âCanât sleep?â he asks, and you freeze.
You sigh. âNo. Iâm sorry for keeping you up,â you say guiltily.
âItâs okay. I canât really sleep either. Itâs a bit cold in here.â
You pause. âRight. Yeah, it is,â you say, even though you feel like youâre sweating buckets.Â
The room plunges into silence again, long enough for you to think Jake has fallen asleep. You feel something cold against your foot, only realising as it slides up your calf that itâs his foot. âJake!â you whisper-yell, withdrawing your leg as he bursts into giggles that warm your heart. âYour feet are so cold,â you say in-between chuckles.
âIâm cold all over,â he whines. âHave they not turned the heating on yet? Itâs already mid-November.â
âPeople are used to the cold here.â
âWell Iâm not. Can we cuddle?â he suddenly asks, and he must somehow feel the way you freeze in place because he stammers out a justification straight away. âFor, I mean, just for warmth, you know. I donât think Iâll sleep otherwise.â
His foot finds yours again and you canât help but laugh. âSure, fine,â you say with a sigh as if you were doing only half-heartedly for his sake. As if this was some big sacrifice you were making, and not something youâd daydreamed about one too many times before.Â
Your heart is beating a thousand miles a second when you scooch closer to Jake, his hands finding your waist as easily as if theyâd been there a hundred times before. He pulls you in much closer than you had expected, holding you tightly against his chest, one arm for you to use as a pillow and one hand resting on your lower back. You try to calm your respiration so that he canât hear how short of breath you are, but based on his own breathing, he seems to be out in five minutes. It takes you longer to fall asleep, every shift of his body sending shivers down your spine, but you manage to relax after some time, letting his warmth envelop you as you drift off to sleep.
--
The feeling of waking up with you in his arms is so unreal, Jake thinks he might still be dreaming.
He looks down at your peaceful sleeping face and canât stop the smile that spreads on his lips. Jake always thinks youâre pretty, but this is a sight he particularly wants to commit to memory. He watches fondly as the bright sun rays of the early morning hit your face, making you scrunch your eyebrows and bury your face deeper against him. You grunt softly, and when he feels you shifting and stretching your legs, he pretends to fall asleep so you donât catch him staring. It seems like youâve raised your head, chin tilted towards him - if heâs lucky, youâre watching him âsleepâ just like he did seconds ago.
He contains a smile at the joke that forms itself in his brain before shooting his eyes open, catching you off guard during what you thought was a private, secret moment.Â
âShit!â you yelp, practically jumping off of him and rolling onto the other side of the bed. He bursts into laughter, proud that his little prank was effective. Before you can scold him, he makes his way to you, wrapping an arm around your waist and bringing your back against his chest. He thinks he feels your body tense; but then you bring your hand over his, swiping your thumb back and forth against his skin, and you relax in his hold. âYouâre so annoying,â you complain, but your voice is tender, almost weak.
He buries his face in your hair, trying not to be too loud when he inhales there. âSorry,â he says, the smile evident in his voice. âThe opportunity was right there. Caught you staring, huh?â
âYouâre such an idiot.â
âIâll take that as a yes.â Itâs quiet for a few minutes, and Jake is more than happy to enjoy this moment in silence, but thereâs something burning the tip of his tongue. Itâs been there for a while now, but he thinks heâs finally found the right moment. âY/N?â
âMm?â
âThereâs something I couldnât tell you last night, but I feel oddly okay saying it right now. Are you listening?âÂ
âI am, yeah,â you say gently, voice so soft it caresses his skin and draws goosebumps from it.
His chest expands and falls with a deep, shaky breath. With your back right against it, heâs scared youâll hear that his heart is beating faster than it should. âBad news first?â he says with a nervous chuckle.
âUh-oh.â
âThereâs no roundabout way to say this, so here goes, I guess.â He takes another breath. âIâm in love with you, Y/N.â You tense in his embrace, and he waits for you to say something, anything before he continues.
âOh,â is all you say. He hopes itâs a good oh - even if it isnât, he doesnât let it deter him.
âYeah. I really debated telling you this⌠I know you might not feel the same way. But I also know that if I donât say anything and make the same mistake twice, Iâll beat myself up over it for the rest of my life.â
âThe same mistake?â you ask, looking at him over your shoulder.
He gazes down at you tenderly, pushing hair away from your face with a gentle hand. âI already felt that way back when we lived in Australia. I was about to tell you but when I learned that I was moving, I didnât wanna risk ruining the little time we had left together.â
The look on your face both breaks his heart and patches it up again. âJakeyâŚâ you say, voice just a whisper. You turn around to face him and bury your face in the crook of his neck. The fact that youâre not saying much is making his stomach twist in agonising stress, but he takes it as a good sign that youâre still holding him tight and not running away.
âI think Iâd be the luckiest guy on Earth if you felt the same way,â he says, hopefulness clear in his voice.Â
And then he finally hears the words heâs been dying to hear all these years. âOf course, I feel the same way, Jake,â you say, eyes meeting his. âThis isnât bad news at all, itâs like, the best possible news ever.â
It takes him a few seconds, but when your words sink in, a bright smile graces his features. He feels tears coming up - tears of relief that you feel the same way, of sadness that it took the both of you so long to get here, of happiness that something new might start - heâs not sure. Perhaps everything at once.
âOf course?â he echoes, smiling wildly. âIt wasnât obvious to me.â
âOh, gosh,â you murmur, burying yourself into him once more. âI canât believe this is actually happening.â
He tightened his hold around you, bringing you to him as close as physically possible. âMe neither.â
The feeling of you tangling your bare legs with his and bunching up the fabric of his t-shirt in your fist awakens something in him - he had been in his head, thanking the heavens that you loved him back, reeling from his belated confession, but he was now very aware of his body. And of yours. He was reminded of Jay telling him to kiss you - although he hadnât needed to go there to reveal his feelings to you, it was still a possibility. It was even more so now that he knew you felt the same way.Â
He tries to be subtle as he brushes a hand up your back to the nape of your neck, gently grazing his fingernails against the skin there. He has to suppress a self-satisfied smirk when he feels you squirm under his touch, lifting your head to fix him with a scolding look. Your stern expression fades as soon as his eyes fall on your lips, however, and you quickly mirror his gaze. His lips part, and he feels his whole body shake as he takes a deep breath in. Who knew that youâd share your first kiss on a random Sunday morning in the fuckass middle of nowhere in Scotland?
Maybe you take pity on him, or you recognise the effort put into being the one to make the first move, or, as heâd like to think, you just really want to kiss him - either way, youâre the one who closes the gap and presses your lips to his.
Your lips. So soft, so delicate against his, absolutely perfect. Itâs a simple, tentative touch, but heâs craved it for so long that it makes his head spin. He frowns, despite himself instantly needing more than this feather-like feeling of your lips brushing against each other. His mind tells him to calm down and take it slow, but his body takes over, urging him to grab the nape of your neck a little harder, to hold you a little closer to him, to kiss you a little stronger. Thankfully, you let him do all of this and more, hands finding purchase in his hair and returning his intensity tenfold.Â
He doesnât know whatâs better - the fact that youâre kissing him or the kiss itself. The way your lips move against his is intoxicating; it wraps itself around its mind and leaves no room for thoughts that arenât of you. You seem to want him as desperately as he wants you, to have waited for him as long as he did for you, and this is what drives him crazy. You press your body against his and he sees stars; you let out a moan against his lips and he kisses you deeper, ready to do anything to hear that melody again.Â
Unfortunately, the only melody he gets to hear is that of his phone alarm, informing you that itâs quarter to eleven and that you have fifteen minutes to leave. Check-out at eleven am had sounded nice yesterday; now, he would stay in this dingy inn his whole life if it meant he got to keep kissing you.Â
The both of you reluctantly break apart, bursting into giddy laughter when your eyes meet. As said before, Jake always thinks youâre pretty, but with your pupils blown and your lips plump from kissing, this might just be the prettiest heâs ever seen you.Â
âYou know, I like you a lot, but Iâd like you even more if you could stop time,â you say.
He looks down at you with a smile, pushing away the strands of hair that had fallen on your face. âSure, Iâll learn how to control time for you.â
âThanks, Jakey.â You peck his lips, lingering, and he closes his eyes to savour your sweetness.Â
âAnything for you, baby.â His eyes widen at the nickname slip, but you erupt into giggles.
âBaby?â
âWould you look at the time, we really got to go,â he says, detangling his limbs from yours. He pauses for a second. âBaby,â he repeats, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead before bouncing from the bed.
You get ready together, and the mundane tasks of stripping sheets from a bed and packing bags become the funnest things heâs ever done. Youâre all over each other, attacking the other with kisses and hugs; Jake doesnât think heâs ever felt quite this happy.Â
And this is only the beginning.
--
Thereâs a glint in the receptionistâs eyes when you check out of your room, as if she knew something you and Jake had been oblivious to all along. Itâs the only one in town, so you go back to the little pub for a full breakfast with eggs, hash browns, haggis, and sausages. You get coffee so strong you think you might not sleep for the next four days, while Jake drinks tea that is equal parts sugar, milk, and actual tea.
From the moment you leave the pub to the moment you arrive at your doorstep, Jakeâs hands barely leave yours. When they have to, like when youâre searching for the perfect seat on the train or when the controller checks your tickets, theyâre back together within a minute, like two magnets that canât stay apart for too long. The rain has long subsided, leaving place to a bright blue sky and wet blades of grass that shine in the sun.Â
Now that your mutual feelings donât need to be kept secret, you tell each other about everything you had to go through, like you pretending your good news was your mum having baked the cookies Jake liked and him seeing your new boyfriends every two months on your close friends story. He tells you about all the hints heâs dropped, causing you to facepalm over and over again. It feels like two friends catching each other to speed on all the latest gossip, except the topic of that gossip is you.
The juxtaposition of your familiarity with Jake with the novelty of behaving like a couple, of not having to hold back with your touches or gazes or words, is nothing if not jarring. But you have a feeling youâll get used to it in no time.Â
As you unlock the front door to your building, you donât ask him if heâs coming up - to you, itâs a given that youâll be spending the rest of today and every day after that together. So when he doesnât follow you, staying still on the threshold, you turn around with a questioning look on your face.Â
âThereâs something I need to do this afternoon,â he says, taking both of your hands in his.
âCanât I come with?â you say. Jake wavers for a second, but sadly, he stays firm in his decision.
âSorry, baby, itâs a surprise. Iâll be back at seven with takeout?â
You canât possibly be mad at him when he calls you baby and offers food in the same breath. âOnly if you bring takeout.â
âYou only love me because I feed you, donât you?â he asks, a smile on his face.
âYup,â you reply. Youâre standing on a step, so you bend down to kiss him - you intend for it to be a peck, but when your lips touch, youâre unable to pull away. You let yourself get lost in the feeling of his lips on yours, in the warmth that takes over your body and makes your brain all fuzzy.Â
A loud, affronted gasp from behind you makes you jump from Jake, and when you turn around, Chaewon and Yunjin are standing in the stairwell, staring at you with wide eyes and gaping mouths.Â
âSo this was a sexcapade?â is, much to your horror, the first thing Yunjin says.
Thanks to Chaewon, neither you nor Jake have the time to dwell on this sentence as she comes running down the stairs and pounces on you. You donât know how a woman so small can have such force, but her hug is so tight you can barely breathe, let alone hug her back properly. âI knew you could do it!â she exclaims. When she pulls away, she seems so moved, it looks like sheâs about to cry. âYou finally popped your Jake cherry,â she whispers, but itâs loud enough for Jake to hear. A bark of laughter escapes his throat.
âOkay, thanks, guys,â you say, escaping this awkward situation and going up the stairs. âIâll see you later, Jake!â you yell over your shoulder. The girls seem to be on their way out, and youâre more than happy leaving him to deal with them on his own. God knows youâll get the worst of it when they come back.Â
As soon as you get to your flat, you make a beeline for your bedroom, plopping on the bed. Youâre the same person, and this is the same room. But something within you feels entirely different, like a scar that you had been carrying around had, without you even noticing, healed so well you could barely see it anymore. You lifted your hands in the air, looked at the back of them, then at your palms. They were the same old hands that had been with you your whole life, and you were almost shocked that there wasnât something utterly different about them after having held Jakeâs hand for so long. Just to be sure, you sniffed your right hand, but it didnât smell any different, either. But you still felt Jakeâs hand on yours, like headphones youâd been wearing for hours and still felt on your ears after taking them off.
Yunjin and Chaewon are back from their shopping half-an-hour later; they got you a chocolate fudge cake from Tesco to congratulate you. âYou guys are acting like this is my birthdayâŚâ you say, eyeing the cake greedily as Chaewon cuts it into three equal parts (even though it says serves eight on the packaging).Â
âThis is more important than your birthday, Y/N,â Yunjin states as she pours oat milk into three cups of Earl Grey tea. âThis is, like, the moment of a lifetime.â
âAre you saying a girlâs importance depends on her having a boyfriend?â
âYes, Y/N, thatâs exactly what Iâm saying. Especially when said boyfriend is the guy sheâs been pining after for all of her teenage and adult life.â
You sigh. âWell, he hasnât exactly popped the boyfriend and girlfriend question yet.â They both turn to look at you, an annoyed look on their faces. You stand up straight, uncomfortable under their gazes. âWhat?â
âUsually, Iâm all for clarity on this issue,â Chaewon starts. âBut isnât it pretty obvious here?â
âYouâre still gonna have to tell us everything in minute detail, but Jakeâs already told us what happened. He had no qualms referring to you as his girlfriend, so I really donât think this is something you need to worry about. What you should worry about is when and where youâre going to hop on that dick.â
Chaewon bursts into laughter, and you canât help but follow suit. âGosh, Yunjin, you really do have a way with words.â
âI know. This is what having a Jane Austen hyperfixation at fifteen will do to you.â
Following Yunjinâs orders, you tell them about the events of the previous day and this morning over tea and cake. They ooh and ah and gasp in all the right places, ask you very specific questions and even make you draw a picture of the room you stayed in. Youâve talked to them about Jake so many times that thereâs only so much to say now - but still, you talk for hours on end, deviating off-topic so often you end up talking about something else entirely.Â
Youâre in bed reading for your Middle English Literature class when the doorbell rings. Itâs seven on the dot, so it can be no one else other than Jake. Itâs been mere hours, but youâve missed him enough to last you for weeks.Â
He brought takeaway from the Indian place youâd raved about a hundred times but hadnât brought him to yet. Somehow, your heart grows even fonder as you watch his reaction to the food, the raise of his eyebrows, the widening of his eyes, the excited shimmy of his shoulders. When you ask him about his afternoon, a wide smile breaks out onto his face, like a lightbulb illuminating a room. Without a word, he scurries to your room, bringing back some sort of book with him. He hands it to you with a shy smile and curious eyes, eagerly anticipating your reaction. The cover reads Y/N and Jake in his clumsy but endearing handwriting, with the date of his arrival in Edinburgh and an em-dash scribbled underneath. âI havenât booked my flight home yet, so Iâll add the second date later,â he explains.Â
When you flick through it, youâre met with photographs of you and Jake on all of the trips youâve done so far, as well as the various adventures you got up to in the city. Thereâs even one of you sleeping in the library at two am during midterms when you had forgotten about one of your essays, due at midday. Jake had come with coffee and words of encouragement, and now he could brag that the high mark you got was thanks to him. Itâs not only photos - itâs also ticket stubs, receipts, stickers, and even a dried flower you had found pretty on your trip to St. Andrews. Heâs also written quite a lot, from diary-like entries about what you got up to that day or songs that reminded him of you.Â
âYou misspelt right here,â you say, pointing to a sentence that reads This is the cafĂŠ write next to the hotel where the last Harry Potter book is said to have been written!!! under a photo of you drinking a massive cup of hot chocolate. The more you look at the typo, the more it makes you laugh, until you have tears brimming in your eyes.
Thanks to Yunjinâs messiness, pens and pencils are strewn over your coffee table. Jake, flushed red in embarrassment at the small mistake, snatches a pencil and aggressively erases write, spelling it correctly the second time around. âThis is the level of todayâs English Lit undergrads,â he murmurs under his breath. His frown disappears when he looks at you and he laughs along.
You continue looking through the album until you land on a page titled Why I love Y/N. From top to bottom, left to right, itâs filled with Jakeâs tiny handwriting. You can tell he put effort into making it neat. Thereâs a singular photograph of you, one that dates from the first days after Jakeâs arrival when you were walking around in the Meadows, the park right next to campus. The sun shone down on you and you smiled brightly at Jake behind the camera. Â
Youâre not a quarter through reading when tears swell in your eyes, rendering your vision blurry. You wipe them away before they can fall and stain the page. Jake has detailed every last thing he loves about you. It can hardly get cornier than this, but the fact that he wrote this about you makes your heart so full, youâre afraid it might explode in your chest. It ranges from basic things like the way she makes me laugh or her pretty face when she falls asleep in the train (or anywhere, for that matter) to more you-specific things like the strict pastel colour-coding she uses for her notes and her perseverance when eating spicy food even though she canât take it. He mentions things about you that you didnât even know, and that feeling of being known in-and-out, of being really seen by someone else only brings more tears to your eyes. Your favourite line comes at the end - the way she makes any place feel like home. A proper sob pushes past your lips at this, and Jake, who had been watching you with an anxious smile, rests a palm on your knee and inches closer to you.
âWhy are you crying, is- Did I write something bad?â
You shake your head fervently. âNo, no, Jakey, this is⌠Itâs perfect. Iâm justâŚâ you trail, letting out a half-sob, half-chuckle. You look at him with a smile before pulling him into a tight hug. âI love it so much. I love you so much.â
You can feel Jake relax against you. âI love you too, baby. Iâm glad you like it.â
You pull away after a small while, and turn the next page over. Itâs a picture of you over breakfast this morning, with words WEâRE DATING!!!! written underneath it, and those simple words make you so happy, your cheeks ache from smiling. But every page after that is empty. Jake scratches the back of his neck. âI, um, I thought we could fill the rest out together. I debated just doing it myself and giving it to you at the end of the year, but I thought itâd be more fun doing it together.â
âIt would. This is such an amazing idea,â you say, flicking back through the pages.
âI thought of it because of that project I had. When I started working on it, all the photos I wanted to include were of you, but I wasnât sure how much my professor would appreciate that⌠So I decided to make one more personal. One for us,â he says shyly, shrugging like itâs no big deal.
âThank you so much, Jakey.â
He smiles. âItâs no worries.â
âDid you do it all this afternoon?â
âI had started it before, but I added it most of today, yeah. Which, by the way, awful timing. I wanted nothing more than to spend today with you.â
Your heart leaps. Youâre not sure youâll ever get used to hearing such words from Jakeâs mouth.
Sometime later, youâre laying in bed with Jake between your legs, watching the most recent animated Spiderman movie. With the tips of your fingers, you draw random patterns on his forearm, and if it wasnât for his occasional chuckles, youâd think he had fallen asleep. You chat for a bit after the movie, but you find that after such an emotionally-packed day, youâre ready to call it a night fairly early. But when the lights are off and itâs just you lying against Jakeâs chest, his fingernails grazing your scalp and his familiar, comforting scent clouding your judgement, all thoughts of an early night are thrown out of the window.
You shouldnât feel so nervous - you had fallen asleep in his arms last night, and it had gone well. Really well.Â
âThis is different from yesterday, isnât it?â Jake suddenly says, breaking the heavy silence with a low voice. Itâs like he read your mind.
âYeah,â you whisper against his skin.
No other words are needed. You brush the tip of your nose along his neck until you reach his jawline, pressing soft kisses there and delighting in the increasing shakiness of his breath. The feeling of your lips meeting is so intense, so all-encompassing, that you donât know if youâll be able to handle anything more.
This is still new territory, but youâre both so eager to discover it that it makes for a messy kiss, lips moving against each other ravenously, tongues beckoning moans from the other. Itâs a kiss that somehow leaves you breathless and breathes oxygen back into your lungs at once.Â
In a matter of seconds, Jake has flipped you on your back and is hovering over you, one hand holding him up and one hand free to roam your body. He slips it underneath your t-shirt, brushes it along the side of your waist, his touch leaving behind a trail of fire blazing on your skin. Itâs so distracting, you canât even kiss him back properly anymore. Jake doesnât seem to mind. At first, when he starts pressing hot kisses to your jawline and your neck, you think heâs giving you a respite - but when he gently sinks his teeth into the skin there, leaving marks that will later remind you tonight wasnât a dream, chuckling as you squirm and whine under him, you understand that this is anything but a respite.Â
You curse your earlier decision of not wearing a bra, because it gives you no preparation whatsoever to the sensation of Jake brushing his thumb against one of your nipples. With a loud gasp, your back arches off of the bed, which only aids Jake in raising your t-shirt up over your breasts.Â
He takes a minute to admire the sight of you panting and half-naked underneath him. It makes you feel shy, and you want to do something so that he stops looking and starts doing, but his gaze holds you in place. His pupils are blown with lust, eyes raking over your body and taking everything in. You have a hard time wrapping your head around the fact that itâs you heâs looking at with those eyes.Â
His soft lips attach themselves to your nipple while his fingers continue their work on the other one. Youâve never felt this sensitive, never felt this on edge, like you might fall apart at any second even with so little simulation. Your core throbs, impatiently waiting to be tended to, but youâre already trembling so hard from Jakeâs attention to your breasts that you donât know what will happen to you once he actually touches you down there.
âYou doing okay, baby?â he asks, the rasp in his voice making you want him impossibly more. You grip his hair and he looks up at you, a tender smile on his lips. You nod your head yes and he laughs. âYeah? You want more?â You pause at his question. You do want more, but is it worth your sanity?
It takes you a second to decide that itâs worth that and more. You nod again.Â
Jake seems to have sensed your hesitation. He tucks a strand of hair behind your ear. âYou sure youâre okay?â
âI am. Itâs just a lot.â
His expression of worry softens into a smile. âIâll take it slow for you, love. Itâs a lot for me, too.â He leans in to press soft kisses to your cheek, and some of the tension in your body diffuses. Whatever happens, Jake will be there to take care of you. âBut it feels good, right?â he asks, lips moving against your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
âSo good, Jakey,â you reply shakily.
âGood.â
You can tell that Jake really does want to take it slow - his movements are more deliberate, gentler. But eagerness, both yours and his, soon takes over, and a minute later, heâs trailing kisses down your body until he reaches your lower stomach. Your breath quickens as he hooks fingers underneath your leggings and underwear, sliding both garments down your legs and leaving you bare to him. You think the feeling of his lips on the fleshy parts of your inner thighs is what might actually do you in, make you lose your sense of reality forever - but then his tongue darts out against your clit, a barely-there touch, and your whole body flatlines.Â
Your reaction eggs Jake on, who, more confident now, takes the sensitive bud in his lips and alternates between sucking and licking motions. A knot ties itself embarrassingly quickly in your stomach, a knot that tightens and tightens as Jake flattens his tongue against you, licking up your juices from your entrance to your clit; a knot that threatens to come loose when he slides a long finger inside of you. You canât take more than thirty seconds of this.
âJakey,â you say, voice practically a moan. Your brain is fuzzy and it takes a distressing amount of time to form a simple sentence. âCan you come here?â
âIs something wrong, baby?â he asks breathily, sliding his finger out of you and coming back up so that his face is right above yours.Â
âNo, just⌠I want you.â
Any trace of worry on Jakeâs features dissipates as he cocks an eyebrow, one corner of his lips tugging up into a smirk. âIs that so?â
This kind of boldness would usually have you rolling your eyes, but here, it only makes your core throb more violently. Itâs almost humiliating how much you want this man. Itâs definitely humiliating, how easy it is to swallow your pride and play into his game. âYes, please,â you say, eyes pleading with him.
He smiles almost giddily before burying his face against the side of yours. âMy babyâs so polite,â he says, pressing a kiss to your cheek. âIâll give you whatever you want.â
âTake this off, then,â you say, grabbing the bottom hem of his t-shirt.Â
âSo she says please and gives orders,â he jokes, quickly obliging anyway.Â
Not once in your time apart had Jake posted any sort of beach trip or pool photos, so this was the first time you saw his bare chest. God, was it one for the history books. You trace the defined lines of his muscles with a finger and wonder how he had managed to get even more perfect. He lets you marvel at him for it, clearly proud that youâre gawking so shamelessly, but your mind drifts back to more urgent matters when he presses himself into you, his clothed cock, hard and hot, brushing against your folds. âFuck,â you sigh, bucking your hips into his to feel him over and over again.
Itâs so much, but itâs not enough; Jake instantly gets your message when you hook your fingers under the waistband of his boxers, pulling him to you and kissing him feverishly. Your lips donât part as he slides his boxers off, and you drink up the nectar that are his moans as you take him in your hand, pumping him a few times.
âCondom?â he asks, but you shake your head.
âIâm on the pill. And even so⌠I usually always use a condom, but I donât want to now. Not with you.â
Jake closes his eyes as he takes a deep, stabilising breath. âI feel totally normal about that. Not crazy at all.â
You giggle, and he opens his eyes, a wide smile gracing his lips before he bends down to kiss you. âYou ready for the night of your life?â he asks against your lips. âItâs gonna last five minutes, tops,â he says, making you laugh again. âIâm sorry, baby, I canât do anything about it. I think I couldâve cum just from eating you out.â
âThat wouldâve been hot.â
âReally? Weâll make it a challenge for next time, then.â
When Jake plunges into you, itâs unlike anything youâve ever felt before. He fills you up, slow inch by slow inch, until heâs buried to the hilt inside you. You both need some time getting used to the feeling - Jake drops his head in the crook of your neck and lets out a sound between a grunt and a moan, something youâve never heard from him before. You grab onto his shoulders, fingernails digging into his skin as you try to tether yourself to him. You hold him so tight that he has no choice but to let his body rest on top of yours, his arms coming to circle your waist and bring you even closer.Â
His movements start out halting, the pleasure so overwhelming that it makes it hard for him to move steadily. In time, he falls into a torturously slow rhythm, but itâs the perfect kind of torture, the kind that has tears brimming in your eyes. Itâs so hard to take, and yet you want more. Youâre brought closer to the edge with every thrust of his dick into you, especially as he picks up the pace and lifts your hips to meet his. The new angle has his tip brushing against that spot deep inside you that makes it hard to breathe.Â
You can tell heâs just as close as you when he loses that steady rhythm he had found, his motions growing more desperate, harsher, quicker. Conscious of your roommates, you slap a hand over your mouth to muffle your moans as your orgasm washes over you, your whole body on fire, so sensitive that the few more seconds Jake needs to come undone himself drive both your body and your mind into overstimulation. Even the feeling of him pulling out, drops of hot liquid dripping out of your entrance, is too much and makes you let out a small, tired whine.Â
Jake peppers your face with kisses as he holds your waist tightly, brushing his thumb back-and-forth on your warm skin, sticky with sweat. âYou did so well, baby. So good for me.â You think you might be ready for a second round if he keeps talking to you like that. âI love you so much.â
You sigh deeply, as if you were just told disconcerting news. âOkay.â
âOkay?!â he echoes, looking up at you with an outraged expression on his face.
âIâm sorry, I love you too, I just- Iâm not used to this yet! You canât just tell me you love and expect me to be normal. You have to warn me first.â
âCan I just warn you now that Iâm going to tell you I love you every time I get the chance?â
You sigh. âI guess.âÂ
âCan I tell you now?â he asks, and you hum. âI love you.â
âI love you more.â
Jake tuts. âI highly doubt it, but whatever makes you happy.â
You hold Jake close to you, one arm around his shoulders and the other hand playing with his hair as you come down from your high. You think he mightâve fallen asleep, and youâre close to drifting off yourself when he speaks. âYou have no idea how long Iâve wanted to do this. Not just the sex, although that has been on my mind for a while now,â he says, making you laugh, âbut all of this. Being together, getting to be in your arms like this, kissing you whenever I want. Calling you my girlfriend.â
âMe too, Jakey. I waited so long I didnât think it would ever happen.â
Jake chuckles. âHow stupid were we not to have noticed we felt the same way?â
âVery stupid. I think we felt so sorry for ourselves that we were stuck in one-sided love, that we didnât even realise the other was going through the exact same thing. But at least weâre now.â
âAt least weâre here now.â You and Jake yawn at the exact same time, making you burst into giggles, giddy with sleep and love.
âLetâs sleep, baby,â you say.
Jake hums, burying himself deeper against your body. âSleep well, my love. Iâll be here.â
--
After years of pining after each other, you and Jake find it a bit hard to keep your relationship to yourselves, or your hands off of each other.
At the beginning, all of your friends had been happy for you, but that quickly went away when your and Jakeâs honeymoon phase never died down and the PDA just kept on going. If the glue you were stuck with previously was metaphorical, this one was pretty close to being real. Superglue kept you together, your moments together rarely spent without some sort of physical touch. Yunjin fake-gagged so often, you were afraid she might actually vomit one of these days. It took Sunghoon two weeks longer than everyone else to clock you and Jake had started dating.
This meant that in private, there was truly no holding back. Jake back-hugged you any chance he got, to the point you started to think he was more koala than human - although thatâd imply he saw you as a tree. Make-out sessions were a particular favourite of yours - how could they not be when your boyfriendâs lips seemed to have been carved by God himself, soft and plump to the heavens, like they were made to be kissed. Really, you were just honouring Godâs will when you kissed Jake. Â
The goodbye that comes at the end of the year is not an easy one, and the month spent at home before you fly to Korea seems to never end. But you get there eventually, and as nice as it is to catch up with Jakeâs parents after so long, you feign sleepiness after lunch as an excuse to get some time alone with your boyfriend. Ironically, this âtime aloneâ is spent so intensely that you do end up falling asleep afterwards.Â
You have to admit, you really did a number on your boyfriend this time - what can a girl do when she missed her boyfriend this much? Jake is still passed out when you wake up from your nap, so you slip out as discreetly as you can from his embrace and get out of bed. You head for the closet first and swipe the comfiest looking sweater of his that you find there so you can stay warm as you look around his room. A pang of melancholia hits your chest - most of the pictures and objects on his walls and shelves are parts of his life you werenât around to witness. Friends you donât recognize, places youâve never heard of, phases youâd never known heâd gone through. But then you see the frame on his desk, a faded photo of the two of you at ten years of age, eating ice cream on the bench outside of your house. Milo is sitting at your feet. Jakeâs family hadnât adopted Layla yet. You realise that even if thereâs whole parts of your life you didnât get to share with each other, nothing could touch your memories, or your future.
You want to go back in time and tell fourteen-year-old you that no matter how painful it might seem at the moment, it will all be worth it for the sight of Jake Sim slowly drifting into wakefulness, patting the bed next to him, and noticing youâre missing with furrowed eyebrows. When he opens his eyes and they settle on you, a sleepy smile will grace his dazzling features, and heâll say, âCome back to bed.â
Youâll be even more in love at twenty than at fourteen.

MORE DEBUG OBJECTS
By poular demand, here are the rest of the prop and miscellaneous objects enabled for decorating! I don't have any pics right now, but the full list of objects is below the cut, and each package is merged by expansion pack.
As with my other debug objects, these can all be found under DEBUG > MISC. The catalog names are often something weird, because I haven't edited or added any strings.
These objects are technically not CC, it just allows you to access and decorate with objects that are already in game. Therefore you can uninstall these overrides, share worlds and lots using them, and they'll still remain wherever you've placed them.
Also, if you have a default replacement for any of these props, for example a plate default, then the object will also be updated to reflect that.
I highly reccomment using this in conjunction with my S3DT mod, since some of the objects are half sunk into the ground by default.

a guide to dating in twenty first century
you met a kind stranger at a bar, next day you ended up on his couch, on your first dateâŚ
warnings: implied age gap, hints of abusive relationships (not by joel or reader), hint of dom!joel, no outbreak, usage of pet name(baby), lots of alcohol consumption, can be considered as dubcon but consent is asked and given, mention of food, swearing, talking about marriage, smut (18+), fingering (f receiving), reader is afab and able bodied, she has some hair.
a/n: here it is folks, my first joel miller fic. please give comments/reblogs if you like it.
part i: the âfirstâ date
The song had just started when you entered the garden side of the bar. A rock classic filling the place, still laudable through all the chattering.
Your eyes scanned the area, trying to find your friends. Just before you took out your phone to text, you saw a familiar back of the head turning towards you.Â
âHey!â Maggie raised her hand, she looked gigglier than usual. You have already told them to start without you so her being tipsy was understandable. You started walking towards their table, âYouâre late!â She protested as you got in the earshot.
You pulled the only empty chair they reserved for you and hung your bag at the back. You greeted the rest of the table with a smile and a simple nod before sitting down. All of the girls already ordered their drinks, and half way down finishing the snacks.
âAnd you donât wear a tiara or a bride sash!â You half-protested as you turned towards her. Acting like you were just a few minutes late, not like it took you extra half an hour to get ready mentally.
âNot my thing.â You chuckled, raised your hand in the air for a waiter to see you. Thinking you were ready to start drinking and catch up with the girls.
â
The first half of the night was good. You fake-smiled and joined the conversations about when is the best time to have a baby, and best place to have a honeymoon. All thanks to your little helper in a glass. As you were about to finish your second one, you felt like you reached your quota about non ending monogamy speeches.  Â
A girl turned towards you. She was a colleague of Maggie and you only saw her before once at some New Years party. Jen something? Or was it Jess? You were sure it started with J.
She asked as she leant towards you. âSo? Who is going to be your plus one?âÂ
There it was, the question you waited for all night long. You were the maid of honor, also the only single girl in the table. Of course people were going to ask why you had no plus one.Â
âNoone.â You explained in one word, playing with the straw inside your glass.
âOh, really? Are you sure? You can't just go alone! If you want I can set you up with-â Maggie intertwined the conversation, placing her elbows on the table and her chin inside her palms. As she did, all the girls stopped talking again and all turned their heads to you.
âShe is not interested Alice. Iâve even told her the only other person who is coming alone is my grandma, and thatâs just because sheâs a widow.â
âWell you never know. Maybe sheâll find her next true love from the groomâs side.â Maggie rolled her eyes as the rest of the table chuckled at your joke, returning to talk about what they were talking about before. Before Alice, not Jess nor Jen, could ask you something you put your hands on the table.
âOkay, I need to hit the ladies room first. Then we can talk about why I need to find a guy ASAP.â You said as you raised yourself from your seat.
The ladies room was occupied so you had to wait in line with another girl who seemed too drunk to stand on her own. Playing with her fingers, rocking back and forth in her place. "Do you have weed, or something like that?"
You pressed your lips together and shook your head. "No, sorry." The girl huffed and crossed her arms on her chest.
The door opened and the girl in front of you threw herself inside, not even waiting for the other girl to step out properly. You two shared a look, âWhat is her problem?â
You sighed as you got all alone resting your head on the wall to take a breath. You hated when people became all invested in your love life, or the lack of your love life in better words.Â
You spent almost a year to recover from your shitty break up by going on even shittier dates, then you simply gave up. Not like you had too many admirers, since your life was usually spent between work and home.
As you were looking down, somebodyâs shoes came into your point of view. The tips of the dark leather boots were pointing on the tips of your high heeled sandals.
âHi.â You raised your head when you realized he was talking to you.
He was clearly older than you. Salt and pepper hair and a patchy beard and mustache. He seemed cute, and somehow it felt like you could trust him. Like he was over with his bullshitting phase which every guy on your age was into.
He dressed nicely, an old pair of jeans and a dark colored shirt tight enough to hint he was built. Broad shoulders and thick biceps, large colloused handsâŚ
âHi?â You spoke sooner than you preferred. Sound just one octave higher than it usuallt was.
âUhm, I donât wanna seem weird but I noticed ya and heard ya were single so Iââ You smiled at the southern accent, it fit him nicely.Â
âI donât want to step over a line, and sorry again if this seems too brave⌠May I have your phone number?âÂ
Here it isâŚ
âOh, wellâŚâ You spoke, eyes going between the still occupied ladies room door and the table of your friends.
He raised his hands in the air, taking a step back. Pressing his lips together as he slowly gave you a nod. âI understand completely.â
You felt like someone stabbed you on your chest when your eyes found him back. He looked like a small puppy who got kicked.
What is the worst thing that could happen? You probably gone over many shitty scenarios already.
âWait-â You said as you looked at the door again. The girl was taking forever and sure she would not come out anytime soon.
He stopped, raising his eyebrows. Eyes sparkling with a little piece of hope, and you could not find the strength to break his heart in yourself.
âIâd be happy to give my phone number.â He smiled, taking out his phone from his back pocket, opening his keypad before giving it to you.
You quickly tapped your number and called yourself. Your phone buzzed inside your back pocket. As you took it out, its screen was screen flashing with an unsaved number, âDone.â
âIâm Joel, by the way.â
âHi Joel.â And you gave him your name, the first time it sounded so natural to hear it from someone else.
Like she took it as a que, the girl finally stepped out leaving the light switched on. Joel pointed to the door with his chin, before taking a step back again. âIâll text you.â He said before leaving.
When you made it back to your table, your drink was gone and so were some of the girls including the girl whose name starts with J. And you just felt a relief that she would not ask you anymore questions about your dating life.
âI thought you left.â Maggie said, finishing her fourth glass.Â
âThe girl before me took forever.â You explained as you put on your purse, preparing to leave with the rest of the gang. You scanned the room, hoping maybe you would see Joel somewhere in the corner. But all you saw was a guy eyeing you up and down, courtesy of wearing a skirt in the 21st century.Â
âDo you want me to call you a cab as well?â You turned to Maggie, shaking your head.
âNo. I will take the subway. Itâs cheaper. I spent a good amount back there, my credit card deserves a break.â She chuckled as she gave you a kiss goodbye.
On your way back you saved Joelâs number in your contacts. Joel.
Plain and simple, because he was the first Joel you knew.
He hadnât texted you by the time you made it to your place. You tried your best to not overthink it. Calling it a lucky shot if he remembered to text you the next morning, and focus on anything but him.
You put your phone back on your nightstand after checking it for the 1000th time. Hating for yourself how you always ended up as the person who waits.
On next day at 13:42 your phone buzzed with a message.
After spending the night wondering when he would text you back and trying to distract yourself from wonderingâŚ
Hi, itâs Joel Miller from last night. I got your number as you were waiting on line at Opheliaâs ladies room.
You smiled at the formality of the text message. It was probably better than âwasssupppâ the guys around your age sent you.
You quickly started typing a reply. He was still online, you felt that was your lucky shot. Hoping would not wait for 12 hours again for a reply.
Even if he did, you would just give up and throw your phone out the window.
hi joel
You felt a weight was over your chest when you saw typing⌠under his name. You didnât realize you were holding your breath until you saw his message.
How are you? Any signs of hangover?
just tired from last night.
we left the place at 2:24 AM.
Thatâs bad. I assumed you would leave later than us, so I didnât want to text you in the morning and disturb you.
The us seemed more important to you than focusing on the fact that he only texted late because he cared.
Because he thought you could be tired, and he just did not want to disturb you late at nightâ
us?
Yeah, throw your senses out the window⌠Ask it awayâŚ
I was with my brother last night.
You felt shame because of your doubts. What would he say, his wife?
I wanted to ask if you would like to have dinner with me tonight?
Iâm a nice cook :)
sure :)
is 19:30 good?
Yes it is. Iâm sending you my location.
I can also send an Uber to pick you up.
no itâs fine. you donât live far.
At exactly 19:33 you rang the doorbell. You fixed your top as you waited for him. It was cute and see through enough for a first date. Youâve also taken your pants showing your ass like a masterpiece from dry cleaners.
Lucky guyâŚ
You didnât tell Maggie or someone else that you were going on a date because you didnât want them spiral this into something bigger than it was.
You felt the inside of your palms getting wetter. Your heartbeat sped up as each second he did not open the door.
Should you go back? Maybe you coâ
He opened the door before you could gather your thoughts. Smiling when his eyes found you, leaning his head towards the door. âHi.â He did not look nervous like you, he looked like it was just a Saturday night for him.
âHi.â You said smiling back, and joined your hands in front of you. Feeling the muscles on your back relax as he opened the door wider for you and stepped inside.
âWelcome. Sorry it took me awhile to open the door, I was waiting for water to boil.â He explained as he closed the door and turned towards you.
You took a better look at the place once you were inside. It did not have much, seemed like he only purchased the necessary stuff. He did not have posters or painting decorating his walls like yours did, or a large bookshelf filled with books.
âYou have a nice place.â You said as you followed his guide to kitchen.
He turned on his heels, looking at you. He was wearing a dark Pink Floyd tshirt and blue jeans. You could see his biceps peeking out from the sleeves. His hair was nicely done, beard was trimmed. He looked even better than you remembered.
âOh thanks, Iâve just moved in here actually, wanted to be closer tâ city.â He said as he pulled your chair for you to sit. âDinner will be around half an hour, do you want to have something to drink first?â
âSure.â You said as you sat on the bar stool, watching him to come back with beers. When he closed the fridge door you noticed the only photo placed on it. The magnet was just some dark circle, and your fridge was decorated with cute and funny ones.
On the photo Joel was next to some guy and had his arm placed on his shoulder. The guy had a longer, combed back hair but shared Joel's love for mustaches.
They were both wearing black tux, and had a buttonhole. The guyâs was larger than Joelâs, so you thought it was probably from a wedding.
âWho is that?â You asked as you pointed on the photo. He looked over his shoulder.
âThatâs Tommy, my little brother. Itâs from his wedding day. 'was a few years ago.â He explained casually, taking a sip from his beer. âI was the bestman.â
âMy friend is getting married in two weeks as well, Iâm the maid of honor. We were having bacholerrette party the other night.â You felt a twist on your stomach as you spoke. A pressure on your shoulder getting heavier as you spoke. You tried your best not to frown, as you remembered what your ex told you.
Youâre overwhelming, all your problems and your whines⌠All you do is talk talk talkâ
âA few weeks later you may have one on your fridge with your friend as well.â You smiled at the thought. Not like there was a space left on your fridge for one more photo.
âYeah I suppose. I hope we both look good in the photo as you guys do.â
âHire a professional. Thatâs the secret. You cannot tell we were both hammered, thanks to the guy.â He admitted and you both laughed at that. You felt lighter as he joked and asked you questions. The knots in your stomach getting untwisted as he spoke. You weren't sure if it was because of beer or his interest even in the most mundane things you told him, but you felt lighter. âAre you excited for the wedding?â
âNot really, theyâve been dating for years. I was wondering when he would ask, rather than if he would ask.â He nodded, checking the food in the pot and he raised himself to stir it.
You gulped when you saw his flexing muscles underneath his tshirt. Your fingers played with the rim of bottle, watching him prepare the plates and his thick arms and long fingers move.
âTommy was nervous as hell when he proposed. Maybe same thing happened with him as well.â
âYeah maybe. The idea of marriage can be scary.â
âYou think so?â
You are not the kind of girl suitable for marriage.
âYes, but I also know you do not get scarred that much when you know you are married with the right person.â You were not sure if you were saying this to him or yourself.
âWell, you havenât seen my brother at the end of the aisle but he is one of a kind guy. But Maria was relaxed, so you might be right.â He said as he came back with two plates of food.
âIt looks delicious.â
âTold ya I was a nice cook. Letâs dig in.â
â
The most of the dinner was spent with questions about your jobs and family. Nothing too personal, nothing to make you nervous. Although you had beer for that. The screeching voice of your ex had stopped echoing in your head.
Now you were sitting on his couch, drinking and going over your funny stories to one another.
His knees were touching yours, his hands was close to your thigh, but he was not directly touching you. His left handâs pinky were barely grazing your upper thigh.
âSo the stripper you hired took wallets of three guys from the party and nobody blamed you?â
âWell, I got the number from a guy at work. If anybody were to be blamed, then it would be him. Plus, Iâm not someone who loses all his senses when a girl in underwear sits on my lap.â
âYou are not?â
âNawh baby, Iâm not a teenager anymore. I can focus when a pretty girl is on ma lap.â You raised your eyebrows, chuckling at his confession.
Baby.
You could definitely go with being called baby.
You wetted your lips as his pinky brushed your thigh, you had to restrain yourself from opening your legs.
âReally? Thatâs good for you then, we donât want your wallet to be stolen as well.â
He shook his head, his fingers brushing over your thighs. When you turned your gaze at him your heart skipped a beat.
He looked amazing in the dimmed lights of the room. You got closer to him, wondering what would be his next move.
âWant me to show you?â He whispered and you nodded. A bit quicker than youâd preferâŚ
He gently pressed his lips on yours. Waiting for a response as his lips lingered on yours. You kissed him back, leaning your body closer to his.
The kiss was slow; he didnât push his tongue into your mouth right away. Something you were glad he didnât.
His hands stood on his sides, allowing you to set the pace. You bit down on his lower lip, slowly, signaling him to open his mouth. He grunted, clenching his hands into fists to stop himself from touching you. Opening his mouth to push his tongue inside yours, sucking your tongue.
You could taste the bitter taste of the beer, but didnât mind. Sure same could apply for you as well. Your hands placed on his cheeks, his stubble digging inside your palms.
He slowly placed his hands on your waist, guiding you on his lap. When you were settled, he wrapped his arm around you, pulling you closer. A small whimper left your lips, when you felt him getting harder under you.
His other hand moved south, palm following the shape of your ass. Your one hand moved further down, feeling his muscles fletch inside his tshirt.
âYouâre good.â You admitted as you broke the kiss for air. His hands still on your body, caressing you. He rested his head on the back of the couch.
ââWant me to show ya things Iâm better at?â His tone was smug. You nodded quickly, letting your body make decisions for you.
He pulled you back to his torso, kissing you rougher than before. His hand was now in front of your jeans, cupping you. You moaned when he pressed his fingers onto tight denim.
A few seconds later you were lying down on the couch with him between your legs and your jeans were already left your body.
His palms were rough as they moved across your legs, moving towards your upper thighs then your panties. âMay I?â He said between kisses, waiting for your approval.
You nodded, but he only hooked his fingers on the hem of your panties. âWords baby, use your words.â You felt yourself getting wetter when he called you by that nickname again.
âYes, please.â
âThatâs my girl.â He said as he quickly pecked your lips, sliding off your underwear. His fingers traced your lips, gathering your slick. âFuck, I didnât expect you to be this wet baby.â He whispered on your lips.
You felt the heat rising through your cheeks but before you could hide your face Joel already pushed a finger inside you. âOh!â You moaned loudly, he raised your leg and hooked it on his shoulder.
âIâd love to hear your voice baby. Letâs see if you can be louder.â He said as he started moving his finger rapidly. Hitting your sweet spot with the pad of his finger at each stroke.
Your toes curled and you felt your stomach got tighten with his movements. âHmph J-Joel!â You held onto his upper arm for support. His lips on your neck, kissing and nibbling. Before giving you a chance to get used to first one, he pushed his second finger inside you. Your grasp on his arm got tighter, leaving crescent shaped marks.
You could feel yourself drip onto his palm, hearing the slick noises as his fingers moved inside you. âI-Iâm cl-close.â You admitted, feeling your walls close around his fingers.
âYeah baby?â He said as he slowed down to look at you, brushing off to hair strands on your face. You nodded, biting down on your lower lip. âLet go for me, okay? Come on.â He said as he got back to his old pace, scissoring his fingers.
When your orgasm hit you, you raised your head to kiss him. Wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him closer to you. He gladly surrendered to your kiss, his hand placed on your cheek as he deepened the kiss.
Slowly pulling his fingers as your breaths slowed down. His hand moved to the hem of your top. You felt your heart shrunk on your chest. You placed your hand on top of his, shaking your head.
He pulled his hand back like it just touched fire. Muttering an apology as you raised yourself. âIâm so sorry.â You said, reaching for your underwear and pants to quickly put them on.
âItâs getting late, I should get going.â You explained as you checked the time on your phone.
10:34 PM.
After ten is late right?
He nodded quickly. âLet me drop you off.â He said as he got up from the couch. You noticed his boner once he stood back on his feet. Pressing your lips together to stop your cunt from throbbing at the sight.
You were leaving the guy who gave you a body wrecking orgasm with a huge, thick bonerâŚ
âWe both drank. I think it is better for me to call an Uber.â
âYou are right.â He slurred his words, walking over to you. âLet me walk you out then. I can join you as you wait.â
âYou donât have to.â
âI want to.â You dropped your shoulders, seeing the guilt all over his face. You nodded, allowing him to walk with you.
You took out your phone to call for an Uber. Sighing with relief when you saw your driver was close to you.
âSo that was⌠good?â You raised your head back to him. Putting your phone back inside your bag. Guilt and tension were all over his face.
âI really had a nice time. I have this thing in the morning and we drank and itâsââ He put his hands in the air. Stopping your mumbling.
âYou donât have to explain anything to me.â He said, smiling down at you. âIâll call you then, for next time?â
âYeah thatâd be great.â You answered, eyes going back and forth between him and the road.
Shifting on your feet from one foot to other. His hands were in his pockets. Resting his body on the metal gate, casually checking you up and down.
When you saw your car coming you gave him a small goodbye hug, wrapping your arms around his waist. âI had a great time. Thanks for everything.â You explained again, trying your best to assure him he had done nothing wrong.
âAnytime. Text me once you get back, alright?â
âSure.â You said as you walked over to your car, looking over your shoulder before you got in. He waved you slightly, you smiled back and he mouthed the words âBe safe.â
Once he was out of your sight, you relaxed on your seat. Let go of the breath you were holding since you put back on your jeans.
Your fingers were rubbing your temples. As you quickly recapped the night.
You ended up on a guyâs lap again on the first date. You even went to his place and let him finger you. At least you did not let him fuck you with his seemingly huge cock. That showed self-improvementâŚ
And lastly, you turned down the guy who was the nicest guy you have met.
You knew you kissed your chance to a second date goodbye as the Uber turned around the corner to your street.

Hello! I would like to request Alucard x reader. Heavily comfort for Alucard, giving him copious amounts of tea, covering him up with blankets/pillows constantly, giving him various snacks, peeking into his room every once in a while and will just hold pinkies with him as reassurance because he would be uncomfortable with physical touch.
Background Somewhat???: You can tell he's having another emotional break down so you're kind of there to help from the side lines.
The doors on his childhood home were very old. And, as such, they were also very squeaky.
Alucard tried to ignore the hinges on the door, curled up in his bed as he had no interest in sun today, the first few times it opened. He asked to be alone, but knew that [Y/N] shared this room as well. Therefore it would be rude to bar them from complete entry. By the 5th open & closing of the door, however, Alucard felt it necessary to see what was going on. âWhat are you doing?â
[Y/N] froze. The tray in their hand rattling as they came to a sudden hault. âI uhâŚI thought you might be hungry. So I brought you some afternoon tea.â Alucard felt he should remind them that, as a damphir, he did not need to eat every day. But seeing the tray laid with simple breads, fruits, and sweets, his stomach growled.
Sitting up, Alucard brushed his hair out of his face with his fingers while they poured the tea. âYou didnât have to do this.â
âWell, I didnât think you would be in the mood to come downstairs.â They told him as they handed him a cup. âI know youâre sad.â
âIâm not a child.â Alucard snipped. âIâm not sad or crying just because my friends left.â
Trevor & Sypha had stayed in the village he had created for a while. At least until the baby was born. Life on the road was no place for a pregnant woman or newborn, but they eventually felt the need to move on. Build a life together on their own, in somewhere that was their own, and Alucard respected that. Still, it hurt to be alone again. Though he wasnât as alone as he was the first time with the village, he still felt this gaping sense of loneliness in their parting.
âI never said you were crying,â [Y/N] told him as they sat by him on the bed. âBut itâs ok to be sad. People move on. Things lose interest. Feelings get hurt and they heal, or donât. But when things like this happen, itâs ok to take a break and be sad. You donât have to hide. Unless, thatâs part of your process that is.â
Alucard chuckled once as he turned to look at his tea. That had been his process for a long time. âThank you [Y/N].â
âYouâre welcome.â They reached out and took his hand. A gentle touch. One, years ago, Alucard would never have accepted. This felt nice though. Comforting. That gaping sense of being alone sifting shut a little. âDo you want me to leave you be again?â
âNo.â Alucard said after a moment. âStay. Have some tea.â

rockstar standards
A/N: PLS PLS PLS DROP SUGGESTIONS FOR HOCKEY STEVE/EDDIE im having a total brainfart but i need to break into the hockey au game bc i love it đť (gif creds: @cuntyarmand)
Pairings: Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader, 90s AU
Summary: Corroded Coffin starts to gain some traction, and you can't help feeling stranded. 1.5k words
Warnings: minor angst/hurt comfort, fluff, pining, pet names (bug, sweetheart, sweets, baby), jealousy, undressed cuddling,
You watch him parade around the stage every Friday night. Sometimes he's playing the home stage, other times he books random amphitheaters and dive bars. But today, he's drenched in purple light on the outskirts of Chicago. It's by far the biggest venue Corroded Coffin has played. You sit by the pop up bar, but bodies are packed like sardines in this place. It's hot and loud, but it's worth it to see him so elated.
Even through his streaky eyeliner, you can tell he's adoring the attention of the pit. You can see their red fingernails and shiny tank tops and free flowing hair. You never thought Eddie would be the kinda thing you were attracted to. You also know he's not the kinda guy to be attracted to something like you. You know guys like Eddie usually go for the Pam Andersons and Courtney Loves. The Party girls. Not the ones who have nothing better to do on a Saturday night than watch a romcom alone.
That Sunday, Eddie pulls onto your street. It's late and he has a ringing headache. He couldn't think of anything better to do after touching down in Hawkins again. You'd headed home the night before, and it made his gut wrench knowing he wouldn't get to see you the rest of the weekend.
Your door creaks open, and he's smiling on the other side. He's already leaning against your doorway with the bouquet he bought earlier from the woman selling them on the corner.
"Missed you, bug," he huffs, "Can I come in?"
You step aside without another word, and he hangs his leather jacket on the coat rack like always. Something feels off when he sits on the couch to find you're on the complete opposite side from him. Usually, you're not shy about cuddling up beside him to watch a movie or share snacks or just talk.
He frowns and scoots closer, leaning in to grab at your ankle playfully. You kick his hand away, brow set hard above your lethal glare.
"Sweetheart," he huffs, tilting his head in confusion, "What's going on? Where's my cuddlebug?"
"I dunno, somewhere in Hollywood?"
His eyes nearly pop out of his head at that. You're his favorite girl and you know that. So why're you grilling him now.
"Tell me what's goin' on. What did I miss?"
And you look serious, too. This isn't some running joke he missed out on while he was away. He's not sure who bruised your confidence, but he's sure he'd like to have a few words with them. He hates the way your lip wobbles and your eyes avoid him cause it gives you away. That's how he knows you're heartbroken.
"Eddie," you whine, swiping a hasty tear from your cheek. "I just don't know why you keep me around when you could have any of those girls at your bon vivant gigs."
"Fuck is that supposed to mean, bug?" He barks it out on accident, sitting back on his haunches with a scowl. "I'm sorry, but there's no way I'm gettinâ rid of you."
"Eddie, please... you're gonna make it big and get shipped off to Tinseltown, and I'll still be here, teddy. Probably being someone's lonely, suburban housewife. It's what I'm made for, and that's not what you want."
"You're wrong."
"And maybe you should go," you whisper, choking back a sob and standing from the couch.
"No, sweets, you're wrong," he says, standing and striding over to you, "You've got me wrong, and you've got you wrong."
You cross your arms over your chest and finally look him in the eye.
"'S that so?"
"Yeah," he tuts. And he has the most charming, most dastardly smile you've ever seen, flashing his canines like a gentle killer. "'Cause I'm gonna take you with me."
"Teddy."
"Nope, I'm takin' you with me wherever I go, and there's nothin' you can say to change my mind. Even if you hate my music forever, fine, I'll fix you up in a nice five star anywhere we go. You can sit and watch all the movies you like. You'll be nobody's housewife, baby, 'cause I'm keepin' you."
You roll your eyes, batting away tears when he grabs your hand to pull you back to the couch.
"And what if I said that's not what I want?" you suggest, testing his rockstar resolve with your big, wet eyes and stubborn quips.
"Then I'll give you somethin' else. Anything else. But you're mine no matter what." If only you knew how proud it made him to call you his girl. To know you support him even if you don't love his genre. "Now, would you come closer? You're killin' me."
You obey with a frigid pout, letting him drape your thighs over his and brush his ring clad paws over your cheeks, down your neck.
"But what about your groupies and the pretty girls at the bars or in the front row?"
"What about 'em?" he says, just barely shaking his head, "I'll have somethin' way better waiting for me."
You chuckle. "You're crazy."
He cocks a brow. "Old news."
When he notices how close you've gotten, he smiles. Your manicured nails graze over his chest with the only light washing over you from the dimly lit kitchen. He can't resist his palm curling behind your neck, pulling you close for a sweet kiss.
"Where d'you keep your vases?" he mumbles, remembering the tulips resting on the little table.
"Kitchen. Above the fridge," you say with your fingers already slotting between his to pull him towards the warm light. He loves you like this: sickly sweet and tender, holding him all gentle in your hot pulse. You go to reach for a painted ceramic vase, but he wraps his arm around you and turns you away.
"Ah ah ah, drop it, sweetheart. Thatâs my job," he says against your temple, holding the lip of the vase and patting your ass. He takes the bouquet from your grasp and sets both on the counter by the sink. You hand him a pair of scissors and he carefully snips the stems jagged, filling the vase with water.
His stomach flips when you wrap your arms around his waist and clasp your hands at his belt. He sets the prepared arrangement aside and turns in your embrace.
"All done," he says wickedly, palming your face with his wet hands. You jump back with a squeal, pelting a dish rag at this chest.
"Use a towel, you slob!"
He chuckles and wipes his hands on his shirt, tossing the towel over his shoulder and leering at you like he's starved.
"Come here," he mumbles. You go a little shy under his gaze, dropping your head and shuffling towards his presence. He catches you by the hips, dipping down to catch your mouth in a prying kiss. You grin against him and he groans, tugging you tight against his body.
"Always love how soft you are, baby. Surprises me every time." He shakes his wild mane and purses his lips for you to kiss this time.
"Where d'you want the flowers?" he says.
"Bedroom?"
His eyes light up involuntarily, and he grabs the vase, bounding off towards your room gleefully. You jog to catch up with him, and when you enter the threshold, he's expertly positioning the vase next to a stack of books on your dresser.
"Much cleaner than mine," he says, gesturing around the room, "You keep it nice in here."
You shrug. "Could be cleaner."
"You can never see mine," he teases, knowing full well you already have. He slings his arms low on your hips, adoring you in the blue light of dusk. "Can I undress you?"
You bow your head and whisper, "teddy..."
"Not like that. Just wanna hold you."
You kiss his slanted mouth sweetly, nodding.
He reaches for the edge of your soft cotton dress, pulling it up and over your head. He whistles low upon seeing your undergarments, whipping his shirt off and onto the floor somwhere. You giggle, helping him with his belt buckle. He traces your temple with his lips leaving kisses along the way. He steps out of his jeans and lets you lead him around the bed.
His curls sprawl out against your pillows, and he welcomes you into his side with a lazy smile. Your reach to touch his waist and softly feel over the scar below his ribs.
"Little tender, bug," he hisses. You bat your eyes up at him scared, pulling your hand away.
"I'm sorry."
He shakes his head. "No, please," he whispers, cradling your wrist, his eyes locked with yours. He draws the hair away from your neck, replacing it with his fingers to dance down along your spine. Youâre warmer than heâs ever felt before and thankful for it. His hands are cold, but he doesnât have to worry about it for very long when you bring each fingertip to your lips for a kiss.
âYouâre my girl, alright? Always,â he whispers and you nod, âalways.â

CARL GRIMES HEADCANONS (pt. 4)
( MODERN AU! for any general reader, takes place in the 2010s if he was in highschoolâŚguys idk save me.)
tags: nsfw mention (no details), fluff?
masterlist here!
read ghost in the woods here!
âŚfirst of all, youâd meet later in highschool , probably senior year, so initially you two had some shared class together, youâd definitely both be really good at it as well, probably an english or math class. heâs quite smart because he was always sort of raised to prioritize things well, mostly because he knew heâd have time for his interests once he was done.
âŚthat being said, heâd definitely finish his work early and pull out a gameboy and just play on it till the class was over but you definitely took notice and sort of bonded with him over it. formed some inside jokes etc. youâd see notice him around school a lot more often after that and made a point to start to hang around him and he definitely did the same because he does that with people he has a liking to.
âŚhed start inviting you over after school to hang out and each time he did this it started with playing on some console he had so he could show you how to play his favorite games so you could play with him. as time goes on and the two of you got closer, youâd end up starting to develop feelings and youâd have your first kiss on one of these occasions.
âŚyouâd start dating and you became a regular at the Grimes residence, his mom obviously would adore you and his father wouldnât see you till dinner but you still bonded with him over simple things.
⌠highschool for carl became to be more about you and less about the academics. he still was really good at school but you were pretty much the only reason he went. he went to school events only if you went and if you didnât he didnât see the point in going. that basically means if the event isnât more fun than making out with you on his bed (which it never is), he wasnât going.
⌠anywayyyy a lot of the time your days looked like this: youâd meet carl at his house in the morning and youâd go to school together after having a breakfast Lori prepared for you. after that youâd just go to school and suffer through your classes until you got to meet carl and eat with him in the library for lunch. then youâd go through a couple more classes, some youâd share with him which made it go by quicker. finally after school youâd walk to the store nearby the school.
âŚat the store youâd get some snacks like chips and chocolate bars, occasionally a comic if you could find them, it honestly depends on the day. youâd walk home eating your candy which youâd regret when you got home since you felt you shouldâve saved it. you then get home and sit in carls room on the floor and watch whatever game he plays, rotating the controller back and forth.
âŚonce you had enough of that and felt it was time to relieve some tension, youâd probably fool around. Whether you made out or possibly had sex depending on the day, youâd do it rather quickly because you knew what time Lori would be home and you wanted to fit something in before sheâd gotten there. youâd cuddle for a bit and let me tell you that guy is obsessed with breaking bad. so youâd watch that for a bit before Lori got home and began making dinner.
âŚat that point youâd just sit at the counter with him while his mom cooked, just to chat about your guysâ days and do homework simultaneously. after dinner youâd return home. some days youâll go to your house though which tended to be a bit different.
âŚat your house, after coming home from school youâd nap immediately but thatâs because carl is obsessed with your bed. itâs extremely comfortable to him and he canât resist falling asleep in it. you never got the hype since you sleep in it every night so youâd sit there and comb your fingers through his long hair till you fell asleep as well. at some point at your house heâd mess around with your animals.
âŚheâd also mess with your trinkets, he loves your trinkets which he also loves to give you. a lot of your trinkets on your shelves are from him since he gets you them for fun or for special occasions.
âŚalso i forgot to mention youâre like one of his only close friends, he definitely has like one or two super close friends but youâre like a bestfriend and a partner at the same time so youâre like who he spends time with most. that being said he doesnât really interact with people much at school or outside of it if heâs with you. heâs very nice and sorta known since his dads the sheriff but still heâs sort of reserved sometimes but also not?
a/n: so so sorry for my absence, i thought id write some hcs and throw them at you because why not!!!! okay i love you guys so much and i hope to write some more soon. BYEEE I LOVE YOU!!!

âYouâre going to break that glass, Master Diluc,â remarks Kaeya Alberich himself, who is this close to purchasing popcorn to watch the âdramaâ that he has been observing for a while now. Weinlesefest truly has its wonders â fresh wine, good company, and a brother who definitely still isnât over his ex, even if said brother continues to deny it. âYou look under the weather. Why not take a breather and enjoy the sights? You have a loyal staff thatâs willing to oversee the Angelâs Share stand for a while.â
Dilucâs cold, unwavering glare remains on that face of his. Kaeyaâs almost certain that comparing his ice from his cryo vision with Dilucâs expression will have no difference at all. âI am doing fine, Master Kaeya.â He looks down at the glass he has wiped forâKaeya guessesâthe fifth time now, and picks up another one.Â
âReally? But itâs becoming a little hot, Master Diluc. Iâve noticed that as the minutes pass by, the temperature of the stand has been concerningly rising as of late. Are you secretly heating up some tasty bar snacks, or is it something else?â
Kaeya suppresses a smirk when the warmth around them subdues momentarily. He has one theory that heâs sure is actually trueâa theory where that âheatâ is coming from, and itâs definitely not the wind.Â
Itâs the ninth month of the calendar. Summerâs already over. So itâs safe to say that. . .
âDonât you have other matters to tend to?â Diluc narrows his eyes at him. Oh, changing the subject now, arenât we? âSurely, Cavalry Captains still have to scout the area for any potential threats during Weinlesefest, or have the knights really gone incompetent?â
âOh, you. Everyone deserves to enjoy the festival every once in a while,â Kaeya raises his keg playfully. âAnd that includes even you.â
Diluc just grumbles at that. Still stubborn as always, but Kaeya remembers the day when the traveler told him a few years ago that Diluc, despite isolating himself during the previous festivals, reveled. (Reveled on his own, was what they clarified.) Itâs a comforting thought that even such a busy man as himself can still enjoy these moments.
And Kaeya wishes heâd see it more.Â
Diluc willingly taking charge of the Angel Shareâs stand instead of Charles? How endearing. Is it really because heâs here for the celebration, or something else?Â
(Kaeyaâand heâs pretty sure, Diluc is, tooâhears nearby footsteps. Familiar voices.)
Or someone else?
Whatever it is, Kaeya is fine with either.Â
âStill baffles me that my suggested proposals got rejectedâ ah, weâre here. Oh, hi, Kaeya!âÂ
Kaeya sips his beer and smiles at you. âHey.â And he watches it all unfold again. You smile back at him, before slowly turning to Diluc, who has never taken his eyes off of you ever since your arrival.Â
You hide a lock of your hair behind your ear timidly. âHi, Diluc.â
Itâs really fascinating to see his brother still so soft with you. People may not notice this, but Kaeya knows Diluc best. âGood evening. What would you like tonight?â
âAh â my company hereââ you turn to the man beside you, a fellow colleague perhaps, and Kaeya seriously has to control himself from smirking. The areaâs heating up again. ââwould like to try some of the Fruits of the Festival that weâve been hearing of. Is it still available?â
Diluc nods. âYours?â
âI donât want anything, actuallyââ
âPlease, donât do that,â The man calls out your name, and steps forward. The warmthâs growing. âIf you think that youâre treating me tonight, then Iâll be treating you as well. Bartender, Iâll be ordering Wolfhook Juice for this lovely lady.â
The man winks at you, confident with himself, until Diluc breaks the flair by simply saying, âSheâs allergic to that.â
Ah, this is great. Kaeyaâs considering if he should bring Rosaria or even Lisa along for the drama.Â
âWâwait, really? Youâre allergic to Wolfhook?â
âAh, DâDilucââ As much as Kaeya relishes in dear Dilucâs jealousy, your expressions are also just as priceless. Speechless that his amazing brother still has one detail about you memorized? Pfft. Such is a man of great talent who has a knack for processing knowledge in such a short time. Heâs a businessman, after all. Itâs important to know a lot of things. âYou still remember that?â
Diluc doesnât reply to that question. Instead, he goes on preparing the drink with ease and in silence. Kaeya can feel the awkwardness in the air as they watch Diluc swiftly mix the ingredients, and the man accompanying you merely coughs to dissipate the tension.
âSo, um,â The man starts, âIâve heard that Starsnatch Cliff looks beautiful at this time of night. I was wondering if youâd like to stargaze with me?â
You seem sheepish. âOh, Iââ
Thereâs a loud thud, surprising everyone, except for Kaeya and Diluc themselves. Diluc has placed the glass in front of the man, face emotionless. âItâs late. Dangerous, even. I recommend that you postpone such a journey.âÂ
Kaeya hides his smile behind his keg. Oh, Diluc. Could you get even more obvious? He wishes to voice out that poor Klee and the other children might get scared because of his âgrumpy faceâ again, but it is late and theyâre not here anymore, so it isnât a valid reason to mention.Â
Oh, the areaâs hotter now. The man is visibly sweating under the intimidating manâs stare. âAâAh, I see- tâthank you for that then, good sirââ
âDiluc, donât scare him,â you scold him lightly, and take the glass. âAnd weâll be fine, I have a vision.â
His stupid brotherâs about to protest, and Kaeya readies himself for another session of âDiluc Facepalming Himself Because He Made A Fool of Himself In Front of his Exâ when you add on:
âThough, Dilucâs right. Itâs dangerous to go out right now since Iâve heard from the outriders that the concentration of hilichurl camps around that area is growing in size again. So we shouldnât go.â You give the man his drink, and gesture him to an empty table. âAnd didnât you tell me youâre tired already? Why not sit down for a while?â
Once you two are seated on a table thatâs too far for Dilucâs liking, Kaeya sighs and shakes his head. Diluc glowers at him. âWhat?â
âAttentive as ever.â
âItâs the least I could do,â Diluc says as he crosses his arms.
âThe least thing you could do is be attentive to her wellâbeing, even though youâre not her lover anymore?â The temperature intensifies. Oops. Kaeya stepped on something he shouldnât. But itâs always so fun to get on Dilucâs nerves. âAdmit it, you still havenât moved on.â
Diluc then retorts, âIs it so bad to care for an old friend?â âSo thatâs what you call her now?â
âKaeya,â Diluc warns.
âDiluc~â Kaeya pleasantly sings. Then, his lips part into an âo.â âMy, I smell something burning. Are you really cooking something up?â
Kaeya doesnât bat an eyelash on the slightly scorched bartop.
_
Dilucâs heart is his greatest foe.
He has too much love in his heart, and oftentimes, it causes him great anguish.Â
He wanted to rip his heart out the night his father passed on. He wanted to stomp on it after causing Kaeya harm.Â
And he wanted to abandon it, just like how you did.
âLetâs end this,â you told him one dinner, with your head dipped down, not wanting to meet his eyes. You trembled as you anticipated his response, but you didnât get one. Diluc was left aghast. âThis isnât working for the both of us, Diluc.â
Such was the fate of a Ragnvindr who dedicated his time to protecting the city and thwarting the enemies that threatened his nation. Such is the fate of a Ragnvindr who occupied himself with the wineryâs business ventures.Â
Such was the fate of a Ragnvindr, who, despite having a big heart, had failed his lover.Â
He wanted to sayâmaybe we could try again. I will be better this time. He knew he could solve this, if he could think of strategies to counterattack the abyss, or even keep his competitors on their toes with his new business plans, surely, he could remedy this.Â
âI have too much on my plate. You have too much on yours. Let us end this before we affect each other.â
When your tears cascaded down your cheeks, Diluc wanted to wipe them away. But he couldnât even move. Not even an inch. How could he, when his heart was being shattered to pieces?Â
You had too much on your plate? Why didnât you say anything? You know heâd always be here for you.
So why?
He wanted to say â then letâs face them together.
But you had other plans.
It was over.Â
And he understood.
_
âHow fortunate that our dear cutie decided to visit this yearâs Weinlesefest,â Lisa says as she touches the petals of the cecilias. Sheâs here in Dilucâs garden. Lisa, for some reason, has the tendency to make unannounced visits. She smiles up at Diluc whoâs observing her from the gazebo. âDonât you feel the same way too, Diluc? That sheâs here again, after almost two and a half years.â
Diluc crosses his arms. âI fail to understand why Iâd have to voice out my opinions on the matter.â
âAh, but didnât you say something to Kaeya? Supposedly, shouldnât you be happy that an âold friendâ came back?â
Diluc averts his gaze, and Lisa smiles even wider before tending back to the flowers.
âShe favors these, don't they? Cecilia flowers.â Lisa sniffs one. This one smells very fresh. Itâs as if all the flowers here are greatly taken care of. âOh, this takes me back. I still recall how you and her first met. You two were so adorable! She used to chase you around, desperate for your attention. And despite your attempts to push her away, she still managed to win you over. Her blushing face was the absolute best when you gifted her a bouquet of cecilias. Really, who knew that you could get so romantic?â
Lisa lifts her head and fixates on the clouds. âSheâs your first love, right? And you treasured her so.â She checks to see if Dilucâs still there, and he is.Â
Heâs still sulking like the baby he is.
âDiluc?â
Lisa can hear him murmur, but itâs not too audible for her ears to pick up. âI beg your pardon?â
â. . .her favorite.â
Lisa tilts her head. âFavorite?âÂ
âCecilia flowers.â Diluc says. âTheyâre not her favorite.â
âOh, my. So whatâs her favorite, then?â
Diluc is reluctant. But he answers anyway. âSmall lamp grass flowers.â
Oh, Lisa knows.
She just wanted to hear him say it.
_
No one knows how much Diluc has struggled during the first months of your breakup with him.Â
He got moody, at times. Even slept in too much, which was surprising, because he wasnât the type of person to sleep, not at all, when he had errands to run. He was a business owner by day, and a vigilante by nightâhe shouldnât coop himself up inside his quarters all the time just to let his broken heart weep.
So even if those days, those weeks, those months, were nothing but unimaginable suffering â Diluc had to rise. Someone still had to face the darkness for the dawn.
The overseeing of the winery and the scouting of adversaries were great distractions to someone like him.
But he couldnât deny the fact that whenever he was resting, or even had one moment of leisure, those thoughts canw creeping in. How were you? Where were you? Are you faring well? Do you still yearn for him, as much as he yearns for you?
Are you as ruined as he is?
Diluc didnât expect that breakups could get this hard. He thought the drunkards in his taverns were over exaggerating it a bit too much because of the alcohol, but now, he could understand.
( He didnât resort to alcoholism, though. )
He really tried to get over you. He really did. He really tried to forget.Â
But how could he, when he cherished you so?
How could he, when his heart continuously ached for you? How could he, when he longed for you desperately after you left Mondstadt.
_
( âThere are plenty of fish in the sea. There are lots of daughters from various nations wanting to be your wife! Why not choose any of them, to fill that hole in your chest?â
The last time a patron told Master Diluc those exact words, he nearly banished them from his tavern. )
_
Moving on was not an option here, it seemed, when everything reminded Diluc of you.Â
He saw you everywhere. You liked talking a lot, and he liked listening to you, even before you two were dating. Every experience, every anecdote, every musing, and every vent â he remembered it all.Â
Diluc knew what type of coffee you liked. At first, you werenât such a big fan of them, but you found one that suited your taste. ( âJust one cup is enough, though. Two or more will make me palpitate!â ) Pepperoni became your favorite pizza topping when you ate with Jean when she invited you for lunch out of gratitude. ( âCheesy spinach is a close second!â ) You liked reading books and seemed to get lost in them a lot; you even excitedly discussed your reviews to him of the novels or pieces of information youâve read. ( âLike can you believe it?! He had a twin brother all along!â or âNow I understand why you have such a big chair in your office! Itâs because it signifies your status! â )
You were so endearing. Diluc really, really loved every bit of you and made sure to give you the love that you deserved. He tried his best as he could to provide you with the affection that you needed.
Yet it still wasnât enough.
Because if it did, Diluc would still be here at his dining table, reading his documents and sipping coffee with you. If it did, youâd still offer Diluc one slice of pepperoni or cheesy spinach pizza after your lunch with Jean. If it did, you would still bother him underneath the sheets until late hours into the night regarding the mundane and the interesting.
Move on, they said. They were all growing concerned.
Move on, a rational part of him also said. It was for his own good.
But he had always been stubborn.
_
(Â
âMaster Dilucâs single?! Again?â
âThe most eligible bachelorâs throne is his once more.â
âBack off, even if the Masterâs single, he wonât give you no heed. Just give up.â
âCome on, support me a little! I just want to give him a good time. Donât you think I have a chance?â
âNot one bit, lass. Not one bit.â )
_
Weinlesefest is in full swingâ
âYet here you are, moping.â A green bard sits on the pier beside Diluc, whoâs currently throwing rocks onto the surface of the water. âMaster Diluc, shouldnât you be out there and celebrate? Or did you choose to stay here because you havenât scored a date?â
Diluc narrows his eyes at him curtly, before throwing another stone into the water.Â
âA silent treatment for me, I see,â The bard strings his lyre, âBut I have no worry, for youâll answer me eventually.â
Diluc sighs. âSheâs occupied as of the moment.â
âOh~? I see that the tables have turned, then?â
Diluc scoffs. Of course he also knows about what had happened before. âReally. Whatâs your purpose for being here? And stop with your rhyming. Itâs annoying me.â
The bard snickers. Stroke a chord it seems. âItâs the second to the last day of this festive event, and Iâve yet to see you participate. Minus the fact of taking care of the Angel Shareâs stall, but you must at least do something thatâs not related to work.â
âItâs in my blood to dedicate myself when it comes to work.â Diluc throws another stone. âI have no other choice, Venti.â
âYet here you are, skipping stones?â
âHere I am, skipping stones.â
The bard sighs sadly. As he kicks his legs back and forth, he says - âDo you remember the Thousand-Wind Wine Razor made with the Traveler?â
âOf course. The barrel they used belongs to my winery.â
Thereâs another silence. Then Venti speaks again. âThe wind is many things, you know. It can bring back the soul, and especially, preserve memoriesâyou know of the fact that dandelion seeds are added last as a way of capturing the wind at the very moment when the barrel is sealed. Meaning, the memory of that âmomentâ is stored in the wine, for all eternity.â
âAnd your point is?â
âLet yourself be happy this once.â
_
After the citizens of Mondstadt welcomed the Anemo God, they all felt the gentle breeze kissing their skin as he graciously made himself present into the wind. The children cheered, and the adults raised their cups for a toast. Everyone was having a splendid time.
âTo the Anemo Archon!â
You, however, have just finished preparing for your departure back to Sumeru. After packing your belongings and making sure you didnât leave anything in the inn, you had to go find your companion â whoâs still probably busy trying out new drinks.Â
You sigh at that, a little amused. You also resign to this fate. The journey to Sumeru will have to wait until later. Plus, you havenât even properly said your goodbyes to the others, so, thereâs that.Â
A polite cough echoes behind you. You turn around, and your heart flutters at the sight of a familiar man. Diluc.
âMay I request a bit of your time?â He asks, always so gently.
Youâre pleased and surprised, of course - because itâs Diluc. Diluc, whoâs obviously seeking you, even if heâs made clear that heâs occupied with duties of the winery.Â
You want to humor him a little bit, so you snicker. âBut what if I donât want to?â You gesture to your satchel. âIâm preparing for my departure, you see.â
Diluc already knows that, doesnât he? He doesnât even react. âIf thatâs the case, then I respect your decision.â
Oh, thatâs a bit disappointing. You kind of want to slap yourself for that. You shouldâve just accepted Dilucâs request instead of pulling stuff like this. Why play hard to get, when Dilucâs alreadyâ
âBut I beg of you,â Diluc adds, and you blink. Thereâs determination in his eyes, and your heart skips a beat when you notice that thereâs also something else. âBefore you leave. . . please, spend time with me. All it takes is just a short moment with you, and Iâll be content. I wonât ask for anything more.â
âmaking initiative, huh.
How can you say no to that?
You smile at himâa little bit too tenderly. âAlright then, Diluc.â You lift a hand, gesturing for him to take it. âLead the way.â
supposedly this was seriously longer, it had more plot ( i indulged on this way too much when i was writing this but had to omit a lot of stuff because i was getting overboard + wanted to more focus on how diluc interacts with his ex / what he feels about his ex / what he felt without his ex asfghjfk also, here's one screenshot before i deleted this part; i wasn't rlly kidding that it had more substance and it was originally angsty:
anw. shoutout to my bestie who brainstormed with me abt ex diluc hcs it was so fun. lemme share to y'all what we talked abt: 1) we thought that diluc is the type of person whoâd date to marry, 2) his heart is so so freaking loyal he'd still pine for his first love, and 3) he falls hard and is stupidly sentimental plus. if he did have an ex, the breakup will def bother / ruin / devastate him, especially when he loved that person sm :(
#diluc x reader#diluc x female reader#melted butter#finally posted one of the requests !!#i still LIVE#/ ignores the pile of backlogs i have to finish#meat anon feel free to share me ur tots abt diluc being an ex because iâm genuinely CURIOUS#aaaackkk#edit: i actually was so obsessed with this i listened to two songs#just to feel it#and write it#oh diluc i love u sm#thank u for this request!!!! đ

Astarion x Reader, Astarion x Tav, Astarion x Asexual!Reader, Astarion x Bard!Reader
Flirting, Light Angst, Longing
Summary: You and Astarion had been playing this little game of yours for a while; he pretends to care, you pretend not to fall for it. It's easy, even fun at times. The trouble is, what happens the moment you can't pretend anymore?
A/N: This turned into a monstrosity. For my own sanity I need to break it up into three parts. I also apologize in advanced, the stuff in the preview wonât pop up until part 2. And please, REBLOG AND COMMENT IF YOU LIKE THIS! I NEED VALIDATION TO LIVE!!!
Word Count: 4.8K
The day really couldnât decide whether it was going to be terrible or tolerable.Â
On the one hand, it had been pouring rain for hours, leaving you and your party drenched as you searched for some place dry to sleep. On the other hand, you were able to find an inn with more than enough rooms to accommodate all of you. On the other, other hand, rooms cost money, something that was in short supply.Â
âHow much does that make?â Karlach asked, placing her share into the pile.Â
Gale counted out the coins. âEnough for our own rooms, but not much in the way of food.â His brow furrowed slightly. âHold on, this canât be right. Who forgot to pitch in?â
All eyes turned suspiciously to Astarion.Â
He raised his hands in surrender. âI put down enough for the room. Food is somethingâŚyou all have to deal with.â
Laeâzel gave him a hard look, the threat obvious on her features.Â
âWe could always share a room or two,â Shadowheart cut in. âThat will at least hold us over until we can find a way to make more coin.â
A devilish smirk formed on the vampireâs lips as his eyes turned to you. âIâm not opposed to the idea. Certainly would make it easier for me to get a little midnight snack.âÂ
You gave a theatrical sigh. âNot tonight dear. I have a headache.âÂ
âTeasing minx.âÂ
âCan the pair of you not for ten seconds?â Wyll complained.Â
You bit back a laugh, turning your gaze to the dining area of the tavern. Gods you could smell something delicious cooking over the fireplace. When was the last time you had a proper hot meal?Â
It was then you turned your eyes to one of the empty corners. The solution to the issue of food suddenly became obvious.Â
âNot to worry everyone,â you announced, swiping the coins from Galeâs hand. âDinner is on me.âÂ
Before anyone could speak, you stepped towards the bar, making a point to put on your best smile.Â
A elderly halfling woman regarded you as you approached. âWhat can I get you deary?â
âActually itâs a matter of what I can do for you,â you said. âI see you have some instruments sitting much too idly.â
The old lady shrugged. âNot really. Night like this you donât need music to bring people in.â
Your smile faltered a moment, but you pushed on. âThat may be, but nothing keeps people drinking longer and deeper than a good song.â
She gave you a disparaging look. âDonât tell me, bard right?â
âGuilty.â
âIf you donât have money for the rooms, we donât comp that.â
You waved the comment away. âThe rooms arenât the issue. However, if youâre willing to part with a cauldron of stew, Iâll consider it payment enough.âÂ
Her eyes remained wary, but you knew you had her as a twitch came to her lips. âThatâll do. Thirty minute set. You eat after.âÂ
She held out a hand which you took, striking the bargain.Â
It didnât take long after to secure the rooms. They were nothing fancy, but a mattress was a mattress and with the guarantee of true privacy for the first time in weeks, none of you were complaining.Â
âHowâs this about food then?â Karlach asked, taking a seat at one of the few tables large enough to accommodate all seven of you.Â
âAll taken care of,â you assured. âJust need to pluck out a quick set and we can eat.âÂ
âAre you sure thatâs wise?â Astarion said. âI donât mind it myself, but your songs have a tendency to be a bit, wellâŚdestructive. Frankly Iâm surprised you didnât use that cutting mouth of yours to simply insult the woman into feeding you.âÂ
âAs it turns out, I have a little thing called restraint. Unlike some people,â you countered.Â
âOh trust me my dear, Iâm well aware of that.âÂ
You rolled your eyes, deciding to ignore the slight twist of guilt in your stomach.Â
He couldnât seem to help making those kinds of jabs ever since you had declined his offer for a midnight tryst; always alluding to the theme of âuntapped passionsâ or âdelayed gratificationâ. It was starting to wear on you.Â
Gods knew you liked him. He had so many qualities you admired; insight, intelligence, charm, the way he could make you laugh. The more you learned, the more you wanted to know and the more you were willing to give for answers. The trouble was his idea of a night of passion and yours were so very, very different.
A part of you knew the honest thing to do would be to spell it out for him. You understood him well enough to know heâd respect those boundaries. At the same time, you didnât want to lose this, whatever this was, between you. If suddenly that night of passion was off the table, all those moments, all his attentions would be lost. Heâd be a friend, certainly, but nothing more.Â
It was selfish. You knew it was. You couldnât imagine finding the words to explain it to him. It would leave you too exposed, too vulnerable to that insistent burning want that had a way of tearing you apart from the inside out. It was better to leave him to his assumptions of suppression and prudishness. Youâd keep your dignity at least.Â
Pushing those thoughts away, you took your place in the unobtrusive corner and the spare violin waiting for you.Â
A smile spread across your face as you tucked the familiar instrument under your chin. Since this whole adventure of yours began, you had little opportunity to apply your skills. Music had always been a source of comfort to you. It felt right to indulge in it now, some place safe and filled with warm firelight.Â
With a flick of your wrist you began, the resonating tone of the strings filling the room.Â
You allowed your eyes to close as you slipped into the melody. The sounds of conversation and laughter fell to an idle murmur. It was a simple tune, something easy to match the atmosphere, but one you loved all the same. You always found it best to start with something familiar. If the patrons could see you get lost in the music, they inevitably followed.Â
As the first song came to an end, you chanced a quick glance at your audience.Â
Most of the patrons still prattled on, but enough turned your direction to encourage you to try something a little more daring.Â
Your fingers flew, igniting a livelier rhythm. More eyes found their way to you. A pleasant bubbling sensation filled you. They were falling right into your hands. Â
Rising to your feet, you glided across the floor, moving with the music towards the center of the room.Â
Patrons shuffled out of the way, transfixed by your performance. Even your companions had stopped their chatter.Â
Karlach and Shadowheartâs faces lit up in delight. A smile touched the corner of Galeâs mouth. Even Laeâzel and Wyll looked on with admiration at your skills. As for AstarionâŚAstarion just stared.Â
You couldnât quite read what was going on behind those scarlet eyes. It was a look you had caught him wearing more than once, always blinked away before you could fully comprehend its meaning. All you knew was how it made that dangerous hope spark in your chest.Â
He caught you looking and quickly morphed his expression to its familiar smirk. The bastard even had the audacity to wink.Â
You rolled your eyes pretending not to have seen. It was all part of the game after all. He pretended to care, you pretended not to fall for it.Â
A lute suddenly joined you from one of the corners, strumming its way into a new song.Â
You turned as a cheer rose, encouraging the intrusive lutist forward. He was human by the look of him and certainly skilled in his own right. He took a moment to embellish your solo before taking over with one of his own. Soon enough you joined the conversation again with a counter melody. It wasnât as clean as you would have liked it. The lad clearly had meant to upstage you, but you made sure to put him in line, allowing the impromptu duet to end in some kind of harmony.Â
You transitioned easily to a new song as he took a seat, bowing to you as he did.
Remembering your showmanship, you made a point to bow in return, schooling your expression into a flirtatious grin before pulling away. That earned the man a round of cheers from his friends and a few obvious oohs from the crowd; exactly as you intended.Â
You continued on with the remainder of your set. Requests were shouted from the audience, all the pieces of music moving to and from your fingers with practiced grace. By the end of it, your arms were exhausted, but your face hurt from smiling. Gods you had missed this.Â
As you took your bow, applause followed you back to your table as well as a handful of extra coin.Â
âThat was amazing!â Karlach said, beaming at you. âHowâd you learn to play like that?â
âYears of practice,â you said, with pride. âHad to find an honest living somehow.â
âWell, it was beautifully done,â Gale added. âMaybe next time we make camp you could grace us with another performance. Provided weâre not all about to die of course.â
You shot him a grin. âI could be persuaded.âÂ
The wizard turned his gaze away, his lips turning into a knowing smirk. âYouâve been unnaturally quiet Astarion. Been bewitched have you?â
The vampire blinked as if coming out of deep thought. It was only in those last moments did you realize just how intently he had been looking in your direction.
âYes,â he said, a little stiffly, âyou were quiteâŚgood.â
You raised an eyebrow. âBe careful there. You wouldnât want to overwhelm me with praise.â
He regarded you a moment before a sly smile turned at his lips.Â
You were almost relieved. That look you understood at least.Â
âIf itâs praise you crave, you need only ask,â he purred. âYou, my dear, are an unparalleled talent. Your beauty and grace alone should have brought you into the presence of kings. A true diamond in the rough.â
You snorted out a laugh.
âNo good?â he continued. âHow about this one; if I die tomorrow and the gods grant me mercy it will be your song that brings me into the beyond.â
You gave him a slow clap. âBrava.âÂ
He inclined his head in a little bow. âBut seriously, you were good and you didnât even destroy the furniture. Admittedly though, I wouldnât have minded if he had met with a little accident.âÂ
You followed Astarionâs eye line to the lute player chatting with his friends. He perked up as he felt eyes on him. Without the distraction of playing, you could easily tell he was handsome in that sun kissed farmerâs son kind of way. Probably had most of the girls in the village swooning.Â
He raised a tankard to you in toast.
You met the gesture in acknowledgment.Â
âHe wasnât that bad,â you said, taking a sip of your drink.
âHe was the worst part of your performance,â Astarion insisted.Â
You knew he wasnât wrong, but you couldnât help but have your fun.Â
âOh my darling, donât tell me youâre jealous,â you said, placing a hand over your heart.
âCertainly I am,â he said, clutching his own chest in turn. âHeâs the only person Iâve seen you willing to make sweet music with. And judging from his looks, he would have much preferred it to be a private performance.âÂ
You didnât bother looking over to the other table to see if he was telling the truth. It didnât matter either way. It never did. Your answer was always the same.Â
âHeâll have to keep waiting.â You shrugged. âNot my type.â
Astarionâs eyes narrowed slightly, leaning in closer. âAnd what exactly is?â
You didnât answer, deciding instead to take a long sip of your ale.
He continued to eye you, his lips pursed as if trying to solve a puzzle. After a few moments he let out an exasperated sigh.Â
âFine, keep your secrets, but I will figure it out eventually.â
Your lip twitched up into a half smile. âYou may certainly try.âÂ
It was then one of the staff brought out a truly enormous cauldron of the most delicious smelling stew you had smelled in your life.Â
You didnât think to wait as you greedily poured a ladle full into your empty bowl. Two full days on the road with nothing but a handful of nuts and berries to sustain you had taken its toll. The rest of the group soon followed, each taking their share. You ate yours so quickly that by the time the ladle had made the circle, you were grabbing for seconds. Â
âHungry are we?â Astarion observed.Â
You paused mid bite, heat rising in your cheeks. You took a quick look at everyone else. Nobody seemed to have noticed how you inhaled your food. They were content enough in their own bowls and conversation. Carefully you swallowed before self consciously setting down the spoon in your hand. Â
âI am the one who worked for this,â you said, more defensively than you intended.Â
Astarion regarded you with a raised eyebrow. âEven so, itâs not going to disappear the second you look away.âÂ
âSays you.âÂ
âClever,â he said, dryly. âDevastating really. Whatâs next? Are you going to hit me with an âoh yeahâ or Gods forbid a âyour motherâ?â
âI was actually leaning towards, âleave me to eat in peace you pompous jackassâ.â
âOh yes, thatâs much better.â
You breathed out a frustrated sigh. Hopefully it would distract from your obvious embarrassment. You had thought youâd tucked those bad habits away.Â
Years of living on your own had left you going to bed hungry more times than you cared to remember. There was a time food had disappeared from your plate if you didnât eat it fast enough. Of course, things got better. You found music and people willing to listen. It gave you fire and shelter and a contented stomach on good nights. Still, there were the bad ones and old instincts took over. It took practice not to be as ravenous as you knew your nature to be.Â
âDo I need to worry about your hunger?â you asked, deciding to change the subject.Â
âOh you of all people should know by now. Iâm insatiable,â he crooned.Â
Your eyes narrowed, unamused. âIâm being serious, whenâs the last time you ate?â
He shrugged. âFew days. Last time I fed on you I imagine.âÂ
Your stomach gave a sudden guilt ridden twist. If that were the case, it had to have been at least three days ago.Â
âWhy didnât you say anything?â
âBecause as much as the image of you swooning in my arms is appealing, Iâd rather it be over my charms rather than blood loss.â He nodded his head towards the bowl. âFrom my own experience hunger and restraint donât mix.âÂ
You tried to fight it. You really did. Years of instinct and reason told you not to fall for the softness in his eyes and voice. He simply didnât want to explain a dead body to the rest of the party. It wasnât out of some concern for your well being. And you absolutely could not allow yourself to believe he recognized the desperation in your actions and not pass judgment. If you believed that, youâd be in much more danger than you already were.Â
âExcuse me deary,â an elderly voice asked. âI was wondering if I could have another moment of your time.â
You turned to see the barkeeper at your shoulder.Â
âOh,â you said, surprised. âOf course.âÂ
You moved to stand, but she gestured you down. It was then you noticed she was carrying a case. It was worn with age, but clearly lovingly maintained as the edges shone with intricate gold inlay.Â
âI know you already paid for your meal,â she said. âBut I was hoping I could ask for one more performance tonight.â
She opened the case to reveal the most beautiful violin youâd ever laid eyes on. The wood was a carefully polished chestnut interrupted with carvings which matched those on the case. The strings shone like gold and the pegs carved marble. You may not be a trained wizard, but could feel the magic pulsing from every square inch of it.Â
âWhat is this?â
âIt was my fatherâs,â the woman explained. âHe was a bard you see, best in these parts from what people told. He had so many stories and songs. Built it himself to help tell them. Try as I might though, I could never get it to play as sweetly. I was hoping you might.â
You looked to your companions. The obvious curiosity played on all their faces.Â
With a cautious hand, you plucked one of the strings.Â
It was perfectly in tune. The sound echoed, rich and vibrant even with so light a touch. The instrument itself seemed to glow as if happy to be played once again.
Slowly, you lifted it from the case, taking the bow in hand. You placed it on the strings and with an exhale drew the first notes.Â
It was the loveliest sound youâd ever heard. Â
The vibrations resinated in your fingers, moving through your arm and into your chest.Â
You decided to start simple, a handful of scales to get the intonations just right.Â
Color danced across the strings, rippling from your fingers like raindrops in a pond.Â
âWoah,â Karlach said, her eyes widening in awe. âAre you doing that?â
âNo,â you said, pausing your motions, as you let it fall slack in your hands.Â
The elderly halfing smiled. âMy father always said an artist puts their truth into every stroke of the bow. This here helps oneâs heart shine. I saw the way you performed earlier, youâre not afraid to play whatâs true.â
Color rose in your cheeks, unsure how to take such praise. âThank you.â
She just smiled, nodding towards the instrument. âKeep playing. See what happens.â
You were suddenly aware of the rest of the partyâs eyes turning expectantly towards you. Some with caution, some with anticipation, and one pair of red eyes with unreadable intentions.Â
Knowing there was no way you were getting out of this now, you rose from your seat, placing the violin securely beneath your chin.Â
You started slow, picking a tune every beginner memorized in their first lessons.Â
The music sparkled in front of your eyes, twirling outward in melodic waves.
The hum of conversation began to die down as you spotted the barkeeper beckon for silence.Â
You continued on, moving to something a little more complex, allowing yourself to let the rest of the room blur in the peripheries.Â
The sound of boots on cobblestones met your ears. Glancing down you saw stone where hardwood floors had been.Â
You took another step.Â
The stones followed.Â
Around you the room fluctuated between firelight and the brightness of morning. Looking up you could see a clear sky had replaced the hatched ceiling.Â
A smile spread across your face as you stepped away from your bench.Â
As if waiting for your queue the rest of the bar quickly moved tables and chairs out of the way, clearing the center floor.Â
The sun followed as the cobblestones spread out in front of you like a stream. With every flourish, finer details were added. You changed the direction allowing a building to form beside you, then another and another. Images of people faded in and out like memories, coming and going with the flow of the music.Â
You never felt anything like this before. The strings sang inside you, drawing out a melody you knew was there, but had always managed to slip from your grasp.Â
You surrendered to its current, following it deeper and deeper until all you could see, all you could touch was the music.Â
Behind your eyes the streets began to turn and change. Buildings loomed large overhead. You could hardly see the stars. A cold swept through your clothes, the chords of the melody vibrating with the shivers in your hands. The world was so much bigger and you were so much smaller.Â
No instrument laid in your hands, but still the music played on as if you had slipped into a dream.Â
You continued to walk unsure of where your feet were carrying you until something warm pressed against your back. Light reflected behind you, casting long shadows on the ground. A melody played, soft and soothing against your own. You turned towards it as the voices of long forgotten conversation and laughter accompanied the strings of a quartet.
Your chords and theirs brushed up against each other, a new light shining in the darkness, but just as soon as it began, it moved away, leaving you on your own once again.Â
You continued on, brushing against others. Sparks would fly, fire would ignite only for them it fade in front of your eyes.Â
Your own melody grew more desperate, moving and shaping itself to match whoever you found next only just able to cling onto the barest sense of itself.Â
An ache grew in your chest as you wandered, always searching, never finding. Something warm trailed down your cheeks. You let it flow, unable to stop. You wouldnât end the story here, even as swirls of blues and blacks surrounded you. They wrapped around your body, filling your vision and squeezing tight around you until you felt the air being pushed out of your lungs. There was nothing else. Even the music had gone dead.Â
For what felt like a moment and eternity you sat there, alone in the dark.Â
A voice came to you then, but it didnât come from the instrument tucked somewhere under your chin. No melody accompanied it. It was so far away. Something about it was so familiar. It spoke your name like a desperate prayer. You reached out for it.
The air itself moved around you as if you had plucked the very strings of the universe.Â
A low hum came next bringing with it two pin pricks of light. A red fire glowed in the darkened space, growing until they sat as two eyes burning in the air.Â
You cocked your head to the side. Your own song started again, cautious as it curled around the eyes, examining them from different angles.Â
The eyes crinkled at the edges, amused by your persistence.Â
With a blur of motion, it turned to the side allowing a profile to form and beginning an enticing melody of its own.Â
You and the face took turns, calling and answering in playful antagonism.Â
The lines of light continued downward as its counter melody grew in strength against your own, forming the outline of a man.
He stepped towards you, his own head turning to the side as yours had done before, examining you from every angle.Â
After a moment, he bowed. You curtseyed. And then you did what only felt natural. You danced.
The heat of his touch burned your skin, but you didnât dare pull away. You had been cold for so long you hadnât even known you were cold. Even when it became too much, the fear of the darkness kept you in his light.Â
The man in turn held you close, his song teasing against your own. So unlike the duet from before, this was a true conversation, the pair of you giving and taking in equal measure. You didnât want it to stop, holding the feeling tighter and tighter until you felt the pulse of his fire inside you.Â
You looked up to find the embers of his eyes pouring into you. He moved your hand to his chest. A heart pumped beneath and you knew then it wasnât his own. Just as you had taken from him, he had taken from you in equal measure.Â
His face came into focus, forming a familiar knowing smirk and playful scarlet eyes.
He stepped back from you, his hand holding yours as he bowed, placing a kiss on the back of your hand.Â
The song faded away and you were once again in your own body, a violin tucked carefully beneath your chin.Â
You blinked your eyes open to find the tavern standing as it had been moments ago. Patrons surrounded you, their eyes wide and mouths open. You glanced around the room, quickly finding your companions. Horror struck you as you read their expression.Â
Theyâd seen it. All of it.Â
Before you could register what was happening a wave of applause erupted from the crowd. People began to cheer. You heard awed whoops and hollers. The adoration was overwhelming and completely miss timed. You needed to lie down. You needed to think.Â
Numbly you bowed before making your way to the side of the room where the barkeeper stood.Â
You held the instrument out to her, unable to look her directly in the eye.Â
âThank you for letting me play this,â you said.Â
To your surprise she didnât take it, instead pushing your hands away with a shake of her head.Â
âKeep it love,â she said. âAfter seeing all that, feels wrong to take it away from you. Youâve more than earned the right to it.â
You wanted to argue. You wanted to scream. You wanted to curse her for ever asking you to touch the damned thing. Somehow you managed to swallow all of that down, mumbling another thank you before slowly turning towards your party.Â
There was still a chance to salvage this. Astarion hadnât seen his own reflection in centuries. He didnât know what he looked like. You could play this whole thing up to artistic license. You just carried a general feeling of desperate longing. No need for you to clarify its direction.Â
Making a point to keep your head down, you put the violin away and slid it over to Gale.Â
âFeel free to eat this one if you want,â you said. It was meant to be a joke, but even you could feel it fall flat.Â
âI donât think I can do that,â Gale said, his tone holding nothing but sympathy.Â
âIt really was lovely,â Wyll said, gently.Â
âBeautiful really,â Shadowheart added.Â
Your jaw tightened, caught between the urge to scream or weep. Why couldnât everybody do you the favor of the lifetime and forget they saw anything.Â
âPersonally I donât understand your choice in the spawn, butââ Laeâzel started only to be hit hard in the arm by Karlach.
âWhat?â she snapped.Â
Your whole body cringed, knowing exactly what was coming next.Â
âThat wasâŚme?âÂ
You were in hell. This was hell. You didnât have to look up to see Astarionâs self satisfied expression. His tone made it clear enough.
In a flash you stepped back from the table, putting as much distance between you and the party as possible.Â
âI need to go,â you managed. âGoodnight.âÂ
You sprinted out of the tavern, taking two steps of the time to the upper rooms. You didnât stop until your door was firmly slapped behind you.Â
Your breaths came hard as your heart pounded in your chest. Honestly you didnât know how you locked the door. Your hands were shaking so badly as tears blurred your vision. All the emotions the violin had pulled from you returned, overwhelming you in their intensity.Â
The instrument had done as advertised. It had shown the truth of your heart, putting it on display for the whole world to see. Gods you were an idiot. Why did you even pick up that damned thing?Â
You kept your ears open, listening as everyone made their way to their rooms. Their murmurs never made it past the walls, but the way they paused as they passed your door made it clear enough they were discussing you. Thankfully they were kind enough to leave you be.Â
Counting, you waited until all six doors shut before rising to your feet.Â
As you did, you felt a small pull at the back of your mind. A vision of a door number and the feeling of anticipation sat on your tongue. The invitation was clear enough; Astarion was waiting for you.Â
You wanted to ignore it, but you knew you couldnât. There was no use in pretending any longer. The game was over and you would have to face the consequences.
With a steeling breath, you walked out the door. You could only hope Astarion wouldnât hate you when it was all over.

REST AND RESPITE â DAN HENG
âď˝ĄË â summary: dan heng finds himself growing fond of your outgoing and talkative nature. one day, when youâve holed yourself in your room, he canât help but worry about you. âď˝ĄË â wc: 1.0k âď˝ĄË â a/n: shhh i havenât played 2.1 or 2.2 update yet so dan heng is still chilling in the express to me <3 wrote this while sleep deprived and accidentally made dan heng softer than planned :>Â
After the events that transpired at the Xianzhou Luofu, Dan Heng decided he needed the time to rest and reflect. He hoped March 7th and Trailblazer had a successful missionâhe would surely join them again soonâbut he knew he wouldnât be giving his best effort if he were to go in his current state.
He decided a few moments of peace and quite would do him some good.
Unfortunately for him, however, you also stayed on board the Astral Express for the next mission.Â
Peace, he would still get. Dan Heng enjoyed your presence and the two of you had gotten closer over the years. But quiet⌠That was another story. Ever since you had joined the Astral Express, the halls wer filled with sounds of your laughter. On the nights you and March 7th had a sleepover planned, Dan Heng found himself needing earplugs, to put it kindly.Â
Despite the noise not being his typical preference, he noticed himself finding comfort in the liveliness and warmth you brought. Which is why, when a day came where he did not hear you chatting with Pom-Pom or Welt during your scheduled afternoon snack, Dan Heng began to grow concerned. After only brief contemplation, he walked down the hallway and knocked on your door, your favorite breakfast bar in hand.Â
âY/N?â he called through the wall.
âOhâ Come in,â you said, your voice distant.Â
When he opened the door, he saw you curled up on the small sofa inside your roomâyour conversation area for guests, you had told him. You had a blanket wrapped around you and a slow-paced instrumental piece playing from your radio.Â
You waved as you looked up at him with a smile. âHi there.â
âHello.â Dan Heng extended the breakfast bar out to you. âI noticed you havenât come out to eat yet. Thought you might be hungry.âÂ
Your eyes brightened as you accepted the snack, expressing your thanks with a bow of your head.
âIs everything okay?â he asked once you took a bite. Though you didnât look terrible, he still was unable to shake his worry. âYou have been quiet today.â
You let out a small laugh, though it sounded unnaturally forced. âIâm sure youâre grateful for these few moments of silence.â
âNot when your wellbeing is in question.â
Your gaze warmed as his thoughtful words, patting the cushion next to you and beckoning him to take a seat. He obliged, feeling the warmth radiating from your body as his right arm pressed against you. Dan Heng quite enjoyed the warmth. You offered him the corner of your blanket and he shook his head, smothering a chuckle of amusement.Â
Once the two of you settled in, you said, âIâve just been having bad dreams all night.â You paused, as if deciding how much more you wanted to share. âThey were about my timeâŚbefore the Astral Express.â
Dan Heng nodded in understanding. You did not have to say more. The Express welcomed all types of people, each with vastly different backgrounds. Everyone came from unique places and sometimes they were not the best ones. He was unable to verbalize this feeling of empathy out loud to you, but he hoped you sensed that he was there for you.
âIâm not really thinking about it anymore,â you assured, your tone rushed. âNow Iâm just exhausted but havenât been able to sleep.â
He hummed to himself. You seemed tired, even a bit troubled. Perhaps even someone like you needed time alone. But something told him that, for this particular situation, that didnât seem to be the case.
Clearing his throat, he spoke up. âIf you think it will help, you are welcome to join me in the Archives today. I still have some entries to input, but if you would like some company, Iâll be there.â
You straightened up in your seat, eyes wide with excitement, before a flash of hesitancy crossed your face.
âItâŚwonât be bothersome to you?âÂ
âYouâre never a bother,â he said firmly. âThough, perhaps your slumber parties with March 7th while Iâm trying to sleep may be.âÂ
That earned a laugh out of you. âWell, if you joined us one night, maybe you would see the appeal. Even Caelus joins sometimes!âÂ
Dan Heng smiled at that. âPerhaps you are right.â
You nodded and said matter-of-factly, âDonât knock it âtil you try it.â
He chuckled, happy to see a glimpse of your normal self coming out. Seeing you dejected and downcast was something he hated to witness, though he knew everyone had those moments. They were inevitable, after all. But Dan Heng wished he could always be there for you during those times.
It was natural to feel that way towards a good friend, he told himself. If he said it enough, maybe he would be convinced.Â
So why did he feel his heart race when you asked him to help you up from the couch? And why was he glad you didnât let go of his hand even after you stood up?
Dan Heng wet his lower lip as he glanced at your connected hands. They were not even interlockedâjust barely brushingâyet he still reacted in such a way. He looked over at your face and noticed a bashful smile gracing your features. It was a sight he wasnât exactly used to seeing, but it was pleasant nonetheless.Â
Perhaps similar thoughts flashed through your mind about him. Did your heart also race when the two of you made close contact? Did your stomach flutter at his touch? He wanted to ask, but chose to hold back for now. You were distraught and vulnerable from your difficult night, and he thought it was more important to help you feel calm and well-rested first.Â
But as he caught you sneaking glances at him before looking away with a coy expression, Dan Heng knew he wouldnât be able to hold back for long. Still, patience was a virtue and he was confident that it would pay off.Â
Soon, he promised himself. Dan Heng caught your eye and this time, you didnât look away. He smiled and you returned it tenfold. Very soon.

Hello, I want to congratulate for gaining such big audience on this blog. Also wanted to say thank you for all your hard work. You are one of the blogs that made me come to this fandom in 2020-2021.And thanks for all emotions that you're precious writtings gave me.
As for headcanons, can you please write another "How it to be friends with... " but with Leona, Sebek, Jamil, Ortho and Deuce? The first one was cute and funny
Have a nice day and stay hydrated đđ
Thank you for your support!!
Itâs been so long, I forgot I had written friend headcanons in the past đ
(Theyâre here if youâre interested! Featuring Idia, Riddle, Ruggie, Floyd, and Kalim~)
Curiouser and Curiouser...
You do many of the typical things that friendly schoolmates do together: walking to class, collaborating on assignments, eating lunch in the cafeteria, studying, etc. You even get into trouble together, though Deuce attempts to be the "honors student" that keeps you two out of it. (He just ends up getting dragged into the situation with you anyway.)
Heâs pretty low on pocket money, but if he notices that you donât have much to eat yourself or youâve forgotten or skipped over a meal, Deuce offers whatever he has on him. A protein bar, a juice box, whatever! You can always share, right?
The first to throw a punch in your honor! ⌠Okay, maybe thatâs not something to be so proud of, but heâll still do it if someoneâs really rude to you. Deuce will at least try to get them to apologize. If they put hands on you though, all bets are off.
Eager to help! Is your phone busted? Hand it to Deuce, heâll try tinkering with it until itâs operational again. The snack you paid for isnât falling out of the vending machine? Heâll kick the crap out of it until your chosen snack falls out (along with about 10 other items).
His mom knows all about you because Deuce is constantly telling her about his cool new buddy. Sometimes youâll walk in on him on the phone and heâll put his mom on speaker so you can say hi to her. She often thanks you for âlooking outâ for Deuce while sheâs not thereâhe needs more people like you to support him!
Being friends with Leona grants you a number of "privileges" (which is what he calls them). These so-called "privileges" include: entry to Savanaclaw and/or the Botanical Gardens (without risking the threat of being wailed on to get out), slightly more patience when you call out to him in public, and the random chance for him to chuck his credit card at you and command you to run an errand for him. ("While you're at it, buy yourself something nice for the trouble," he adds.) How... kind (?) of him, right?
He's the kind of friend you have to practically harass to convince him to get out and do something with you. Leona would rather snooze or hang out indoors reading or playing chess or logic games. Sometimes you have no choice but to bend to his whims because otherwise you're not seeing him at all. It's his way or the highway!
If he's in the mood, he'll play a little rough. Leona's not exactly super affectionate (like, he's not going to hug you), but he'll occasionally ruffle your hair or get you in a headlook and noogie you. It's his way of greeting you or saying, "job well done".
A lot of your conversations with Leona are essentially extended exchanging of quips. Heâs still every bit as sarcastic and snarky as he is with his enemies, perhaps even moreso with you. Itâs not done out of animosity, but rather because Leona wants to keep you on your toes. After all, he let you into his packâso you can keep up with him, canât you?
In spite of how lackadaisical he may appear, Leona's the first person you know you can go to if you ever need help. A school assignment, physical training, life advice, whatever. He has this way of saying what you need to hear (even if it isnât pleasant; he's a realist, not an optimist, and he's not going to sugarcoat it for you) and kicks your ass into high gear.
Definitely the âmom friendâ, though out of habit and not because he wants to or actively tries to be. The kind of guy to fuss over whether youâre eating enough or sleeping at an appropriate time.
He often looks frazzled when you greet him in the halls or hang out after classes (which he so rarely does anyway because heâs usually for his hands full and with some Kalim-related task). Jamil vents to you later about what he has to put up with. Youâve never heard him use such colorful language and creative phrases outside of these vents. (He makes you swear to secrecy.)
On hangouts, Jamil comes overprepared. Even if itâs not raining, he brings an umbrella. Even if itâs not sunny, he brings sunscreen and bug spray. In fact, Jamil always shows up with this massive bag of what he calls âessentialsâ. First aid kit, water bottles, hand sanitizer, hand cream, portable battery, snacks, lip balm, sewing kit, travel toiletries, pens, spare eating utensils, a flashlight, a multitool, sunglasses, a notebook, a mirror, tissuesâ
His homemade lunches look so good; you tend to stare with quiet longing until Jamil sighs and asks if you would care for some. He acts like itâs a slight inconvenience to him (to salvage his pride and to come off as humble), but really heâs fishing for an excuse to share his food and get a compliment from you. In exchange for feeding you, you feed his ego.
Jamil insists he doesnât need you to come to his basketball games, he can play just fine without you there. Well, that doesnât stop you from showing up with a homemade poster to wave around and shouting his name. He acts embarrassed about it and scolds you afterwards, but heâs secretly pleased to have your support.
Ortho's the friend you feel the instinctive need to protect (on account of his small, boyish stature)--but don't be fooled! It's him who's jumping to shoot a laser beam at people who pick on you and you having to hold him back from firing.
He's cute and he knows it. Whenever he wants to get his way (like, say he wants to pick what you do today), he'll put his acting chops to use and pretend to get all sad or claim that you're bullying some innocent little kid to win the disagreement.
You play a lot of video games and board games together but you can never quite win most of the time. Ortho's advanced learning algorithms allow him to learn your playstyles and adapt on the fly, leading to him cinching victory after victory. He takes it easy on you once in a while though, just because it wouldn't be fun to go entirely unbeaten! More recently, you've been really into this racing game called Sugar Rush--and Ortho likes to play dirty and targets you with all the traps he can get his hands on.
You have movie nights too! Sometimes it's mainstream productions but sometimes Ortho shows you sneak peeks of the Film Research Club's latest projects (where he stars). He doesn't eat or drink, so you can monopolize all the snacks and chill as Ortho gets the film rolling... from himself! He has a built-in projector which makes it possible to watch movies on any wall.
Being besties with a supercomputer has its perks. Ortho can fact check you on the spot and provide any and all information you might be looking for in the blink of an eye.
Sebek is one of those friends who speaks callously even to his own friends. He does this with Silver, and he does this with you as well. Every nice thing he says is phrased like an insult (not necessarily aimed at you; itâs usually condescending others when comparing them to you), and it takes some time getting used to his⌠unique way of communicating.
Big golden retriever energy. He gets so excited when he sees you and practically charges over to give a greeting in the mornings. Same goes for him catching you in the halls--he'll shout from the other end and wave excitedly.
He's in the habit of making book recommendations to you, even if you're not a reader. Each book is selected with the utmost consideration for your interests and reading level; Sebek has oftentimes already gone to the trouble of reading these books and now is waiting on you to give them a shot so the two of you and talk over it and share your thoughts.
He strives for self-improvement and encourages you to do the very same. Sometimes he invites you to join him and Silver for a workout, but if that's too much for you then he can recommend some simple weight-lifting, stretches, or a brief jog.
If you're feeling down, he'll give you a thunderous pep talk that'll get you right back up on your feet! It's like being hit with a jolt of lightning--you're revitalized and ready to tackle the world again.
