plot: reader gets lost during walk during thanksgiving drama, but of course everything goes wrong. (same plot as in the show but i tweaked it)

Goosebumps, annoying, airpods in. It’s hard to ignore the persistent drama of the Walter house. Especially the drama between, my boyfriend, Alex and, his older brother, Cole. Not to mention the glances Cole keeps throwing at me.

It gets harder to ignore when the glances become stares. Words shared between us also prove his infatuation. I’m not tryna be another paige, so I hope Alex hasn’t noticed.

I glance down at my phone to check the time. 5? I left at 2! I quickly open the maps app to figure out the way home, but the signal isn’t strong enough. Well it couldn’t get anyworse! I eat my words as sounds signaling thunder and a cold storm fill the sky.

Anxiety truly begins to set in. I slid down one the tree ive posted up next to and scramble to call Katherine. I let it ring until im met with her voicemail. I instantly recall that the surprise party for Nathans return from the hospital is right now, no no no! The fear that they wont notice my absence worsens my anxiety. Next I, more frantically, called Alex.

If he doesnt pick up…

“Hey Y/n where are you?”

I breathe for the first time in what felt like minutes..

Now i must confess the deeply embarrassing truth, “Alex, I’m ummm, I’m lost- I was going for a walk and I-I don’t know and I don’t know what to do.”

In the mere moments that I’ve been crouched by the tree the sky has darkened and rain drops have begun. As I word vomit to Alex I can’t stop the breathe catching sobs that quickly take over my overwhelmed state. “Alex- I don’t know what to do”

“Hey. Y/n i need you to take a few deep breaths ok sweetheart” I close my eyes and listen to his voice, “Do you have any idea where you are baby?” I sniffle a response together, “No, theres trees.. a lot of trees and there was a path of sand tint gravel, but it’s gone and theres a hill too.” “Okay baby I know where you are I’ll be there as fast as I can-stay on the phone with me alright?”

The rain is now heavy without any escape and the thunder and lightning fill the sky. Yet, his voice has somehow soothed me. I glance down at my screen for the first time in a while; which is now dusted with raindrops, “Alex, my phone its about to die-“

Dead. And now I’m alone again in the wild and freezing temperatures. My shirt sticks to my skin soaked completely as well as my jeans that weigh me down with the amount of water intake. All I can do now is wait.

I don’t know how much time has passed at this point. Definitely not as much as it feels. I’m scary cold, my body is becoming numb, and I’m tired. super tired.

My shut eyes spring open by the new noise of twigs snapping. “Y/N! Y/N!”

My heart swells- its Alex! His voice sounds harsh like hes been yelling for a while, “ALEX! I’m right here!”

I try to rise from my position underneath the tree but i fall flat on my hands and knees. It’s so dark at this point that I can only see the distant light that Alex carries with him.

It moves erratically and is accompanied by sounds evoked by Alex’s running through the muddied forest.

He is quickly in-front of me discarding his layers. As soon as his hoodie, jean jacket, and raincoat is off of him he is dressing me with urgent yet noticeably delicate movements. “How do you feel Y/n?” He speaks pulling the hood over my head, before he puts his beanie on my head I grab his hand and look him in the eyes, “Alex- I’m ok, leave the beanie just get us out of here, please,” Without skipping a beat I’m scooped up and whisked away cradled in his arms to the family’s good-ole chariot. The beat of his heart and strong arms, definitely from all the farm labour, calm me.

He sets me with the same delicate actions into the passenger seat. My shivering has slowed and before he can turn away I grab him by the back of his neck with both hands and kiss him. His body leans into the car; one hand is around my waist while his other is on the dash securing himself. Our wet lips crash against one another’s and we both quickly become panting messes.

I pull away and his own face follows mine keeping us an inch apart. “Thank you Alex- I’ve never… been lost like that,” He grins that smile that brings warmth to my cheeks and butterflies into my stomach, “Ofcourse you haven’t- ye’arent used to having forests to get lost in city girl.”

A ver thoughtful and yet practical gift that was simple and to the point, nothing too over the top or extravagant. It was so Shinichi. And Ran got it, which was the point 🩷

4. Ran figuring out she's in love with Shinichi (or falling for him depends how you see it) in New York. The entirety of that story was great. Some amazing gems in there. The hugging in the car. The almost kiss during the case. Shinichi going to get her handkerchief. Shinichi carrying and then looking after Ran while she's ill. But most importantly... The whole epic speech and realization during the confrontation with vermouth. It was... So good.

3. Them during the case with Momiji trying to get Heiji to win and solve the case. Just- Ran's cute faces. Shinichi trying to win because he wants to impress her. Him literally reading her mind and losing on purpose because of her. Amazing.

2. Them in Kyoto. Particularly the moment where Shinichi pulls her away to ask her directly about what she feels. I was so proud of him for being so direct there! And then of course the kiss. I was speechless omg Ran you absolute queen 🩷

I get why people are so mad at Milo, I really do...

(spoilers for The Night Market)

But, first of all, accidently summoning fucking Cthullu because you literally Do Not Know how to do your job is, uh, relateable somehow. Then proceeding to stab Cthullu because you panicked is objectively funny. Like. I got over the initial shock of that ending (because wtf, Milo?!?!?), and the confusion (like what did I do to get the bad ending???), and then it was ALL laughs. Like, daaaaamn, Malcolm is gonna be pissed, dude!

Legit, Milo isn't even malicious here, y'know? He's, like, a horse loose in a hospital -- he's just as confused as you are! He's never been in a hospital before!

Also, on a serious note, it's like, fair enough, okay. Because Hazel won't leave the Market, because she won't leave without Malcolm (living, dead, or undecided). Malcolm either can't or won't leave. Every probably can't leave. Milo probs doesn't care if he dies, but that's his family. And, I mean, the MC was dying irregardless. In his brain, this was the thing that would save them, too. All he had to do was give up their trust and love (platonic or otherwise), and they walked away. Limping and heartbroken, sure, but alive. Not saying it's fair, but you know. People do massively fucked up shit for love and for fear, and Milo has both. What he does is selfless from a certain point of view -- he gave up the affection and goodwill (that he probably thinks he doesn't deserve anyway), and everyone lives. He loved them all enough to lose them. And yeah, it was in fucked up way that is not the way to do shit, but.

As a future trauma-informed clinician, Milo's brain is legitimately built different. That man is on fight-or-flight 24/7, and I'm not convinced he isn't in a manic episode for at least part of the book. We know he's not sleeping and is drinking pretty heavily toward the end. That does not bode well.

Honestly, it was a shocker ending only because I didn't expect the author to go there, but it makes sense. This is a severely mentally ill man who spent ten years literally carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, on top of his own unprocessed grief and trauma, and trying to make sure his equally mentally ill friend is alright, and sort of single-parenting a dead child. Then you have the fact that he was meeting pretty regularly with Baron fucking Palpatine, who was probably manipulating him. And yeah, you can say that he's a grown man but... When you live your life focused on survival, you literally do not develop the kind of executive functioning skills you need to withstand that shit. You can develop them later in life, but it is significantly more difficult.

In a lot of cases, I do not argue for mental illness being a defense for the kind of fuckery that he got up to, but shit, man. Milo has such a deep-seated sense of self-loathing, and the amount of vitriol thrown against him so intense and utterly unsympathetic. The whole cast uses the MC for their own ends. They all put the MC at direct risk. At least Milo believes he's saving them.

-transformed body parts will heat up and sometimes turn red from irritation (once returned to normal form)

mothers side:

-vines with flowers on the end

-based on whatever drink she's consumed, the flowers can emit a pollen which leaves effects on those nearby

-only one effect can be used at a time

-effects will range from victims feeling high (hallucinogenic trip or merely dazed out depending on exposure), nausea, dizzy, or falling unconscious

-flowers can emit this pollen for a half hour after consumption, and effects will last upwards of five hours

-the vines are prehensile and can be controlled, strong enough to carry her weight

its going to be lengthy so ill tuck it under the cut

akito starts off as a florist (based off of his vivid old tale card) but after the disappearance of touya (and nene) he enlists and trains to become a knight in the 2-3 year time frame before the main story begins

touya and nene are childhood friends too!! i need more touyanene content so im just appealing to myself here with that lol but they met when touya used to run off to get away from his father - touya would watch nene practice acting and all the like :]

when touya was a little older (13ish) he would then meet akito. the two hit it off very well too - they became very close and akito would trespass into the castle grounds to visit touya at night. sometimes with flowers

the entire cast makes an appearance in this au for sure just many will have lesser roles outside of the gamer quartet, tsukasa, saki, amia, and rui. some are apart of the kingdom, some are just villagers, others are beings who help guide akito and emu to touya and nene

i have made it clear that touya and nene (and rui too) are fucked up and evil in this au yes... the two are mostly controlled by rui... touyas sword is the source of his powers and also controls him heavily.. and nene can become a dragon. yeah <3

touya is abs merciless and at the beginning of the main story. he attacks the kingdom with nene. injures tsukasa and some others. and kidnaps saki.

emu is a close friend of nene, tsukasa, and rui and thats another reason why she wants to travel with akito bc she too has been trying to find nene

emu is also somewhat clairvoyant, can read minds, purify and heal injuries, and has magical powers teehee so where akito falls short emu def can carry. the two balance each other out and end up making a good team

mafuyu, ena, and meiko appear as hermits (footsteps event set) who akiemu encounter and they end up helping guide the two

same with shizuku, haruka, and luka who appear as fairies (shizukus recent focus event set)

also to backup a little but bc emu was a close friend of nene. and that touya and nene were childhood friends. and that touya and akito were very close. these four have def interacted as a group before and consider each other friends. though akiemu was prob the dynamic where they were the least close of them all

rui is also corrupted hes not evil by default no he used to be apart of the kingdom too in the past but he left on a quest several years back and never returned. he was in search of an ancient and powerful magic that ended up being imbued with evils and took him over...

when touya and nene ran away and were overall very vulnerable rui convinced them that he can make sure they can have the power to protect themselves if they agree to work with him. they did. and boom. fucked up and evil........ this also is what ends up happening to saki..

rui being corrupted with this evil magic desires to take over the kingdom....

((and yeas everyone becomes purified by the end of the story and theres abs a good ending bc i REFUSE to kill anyone off permanently))

and despite touya being corrupted. there are several moments where akito has been able to break through to him just a little. these two are insanely close ofc so it makes sense right? touya sees the rose earring he gave akito. a memory resurfaces briefly and he stops attacking and whatnot for a moment. haha. its emotional. explodes.

also epic akito and touya sword duel bc yeah. i think it would be cool. and AUHGHFFHHGHD

Gatherine always, always wears protection. Just in case. She can't conceive, but you may become host to her eggs.

So, important to mention, more than 50% of tantibus is sterile. Creatures are usually sterile bc of crossbreeding and genetic mutation, like monsters and male demons. Benny is sterile, one of Gatherine's foster monsters is, too. Only female demons are fertile and able to produce offspring, they carry all of the genetic material. Male demons act as more of a host for the parasitic eggs, but are usually left out entirely since they're likely to die from it.

Monsters who are born and/or raised in labs are also sterilized, so they can't pass on any potentially bad genes or traits, as they are treated like animals. Some omioso/mortals are also sterile just by random chance, and most don't even know they are. Some omioso are sterile bc of trauma from the womb, and are overall very susceptible to injury during development. Carter is sterile from fetal injury and is completely sterile.

The most fertile creatures on tantibus are angels, who's bodies cling so hard to other's genetic material that they can conceive from nearly anything. The only angels who aren't fertile are harpies like Sal, who are usually happy to be sterile. Stacy is extremely fertile and will force protection, in fear of conception. Many angels get sterilized by choice, in fear of commitment.

Female demons are also fertile, though they can't conceive another creature's offspring. They have one fertile load per rebirth, which comes randomly and without warning. It makes the receiving creature very ill, so they usually collect their loads and put them in incubators in central infernum. Female demons can conceive one another's offspring, since they're physically healthier than their male counterparts. Female demons wear protection always.

the gods slowly being murdered by their own creations/ their fellow gods creations. bizly gets stranded in the forest with the chickens, condi falling into the lava and burning to death, charlie slowly poisoned by his food, unable to craft anything to help, and grizzly ending up using his own weapons to get out of there (extra angst: he just cant manage to die. his weapons arent working on him and/or it always just barely fails. hes now stuck in a hell his friends suffered through the trouble to make and now he deals with it for all eternity alone. EXTRA EXTRA ANGST IF SOMEHOW FALLEN GRIZZ KNEW THIS ALL HAPPENED IN ANOTHER WORLD AND WAS JUST SO ENRAGED WITH HOW THEY REACTED)

as for the fellow gods creations, ive got a plan for that too. condi this time is torn up by chickens -bizly's creation (oh my brain is gorey, the way the counsil finds out is seeing the forest creatures running away from the area carrying condi's bloodied and ripped off body parts in their mouths), charlie is burned by the water in the regular world as bizly and grizzly watch unable to help -grizzly's creation (grizzly was in charge of overworld nature as well as the weapons and shit, ill probs do a friendly reminder post just for my well being), both bizly and grizzly struggle around with how the food functions and how to craft; bizly ends up trying to make grizzly's ultra sword and accidentally ate the golden apple -combo of grizz and charlie's creations ig, and grizzly beats the game alone and dies afterwards -condi's creations (im pretty sure condi moddedd it so youd insta die after beating the game).

tommy is more tameable (idfk why my brain said this word btu ill put it so you guys suffer too) in the 100 days mod and manages to semi help charlie by aqquiring some of the mad scientists old equipment and giving him some

after slime died (100 days mod again), hes sent to an area in the clouds where 3 men in thrones judge him. noticably, theres a a red throne in the middle made with clays and terracotas shaped like a pug wearing lanterns on its "ears", a throne to the left made of also glazed terracotas but also containing diamonds, buttons, and colored glass. the throne to the middle's right is green with more glazed terracota and more solid slime, but has some trident dents and is going under some redecorating of color thus some dark blue paint and wooden sign reading "bizlys throne" in messy letters. aka charlie is judged by the council which somewhat reconigze him but also cant be bias so yeh

grizzly's banishment was more of an accident this time and the boys hop onto their godly iphones and have to try and get grizz out the nether (imagining it similar to the god ghosts help out slime on the dsmp)

the multiverse collaspes and both the 5 minute disaster and hardest minecraft difficulty join the scu 100 days mod making shit a lot harder

Crashing: back to work

I’ve been at work for a week and the fatigue has hit quite hard. I’ve been showing a new colleague the ropes and pushed too hard. I wasn’t getting any warning signs until the last moment and then down I went on the familiar downward cycle. I want to go to the gym today but I know I need to slow down so I don’t enter burn out. Things I have learnt.

🥀I notice my warning signs better these days

🥀6 weeks off is enough to forget how to pace! I work in a school so it’s a massive change to routine!

🥀 accepting help is getting a little easier

🥀 taking responsibility and stepping in to call the shots of when to go home is getting a bit easier

🥀 the shame is lessening

The smaller warning signs that a fatigue attack (or whatever I’m meant to call it) that I don’t ignore now are :

🍄 feeling dizzy even though I’m hydrated and have eaten

🍄 waking up more tired than I usually do (I find it hard to remember to compare)

🍄 working out how physically far away things are comes to the top of my priorities

🍄 it is harder to concentrate, sit up and I walk slower and stay closer to the walls

🍄 things start to feel a lot heavier that I can normally lift with ease

🍄 I start to count the hours left in the day

🍄 I start to feel nauseous and achey - general malaise when I know I am not going down with something

Things I do to start helping myself out:

🍇 sit the fuck down when I can

🍇 not feel bad for asking people to carry stuff and open things for me (honestly all the doors are fire doors at work and it’s not great)

🍇 prioritise everything: decide what’s urgent to do and what can be delegated and what can wait - better one day now than a week because I pushed from fatigue into pain

🍇 whack out the stick - deal with the comments by just steamrollering them with other stuff or jokes or if it’s the kids and/or I cba to explain I normally say something like “my body gets more tired than my brain so I need help” - kids are actually better at taking an answer tbh

🍇 decide when I will probably be done and organise the “exit plan” - I used to push past the exhaustion point and learn the hard way and also it ended up creating more of an issue tbh. The illness being the issue - I was trying my best and was not intending to “cause” more issues by overstaying my fatigue - but I know it better now. People know what happens if I stick about - they don’t need to for it to be ok I am going. It helps somewhat. But I didn’t need to “show them proof” for it to be valid. This is a hard point.

🍇 nibble food. Drink Diet Coke for the nausea (should probs be peppermint tea but I don’t like it). Hydrate.

When I get in from a lift home I :

🎒dump everything. Do it another time - not important right now

🥤drink and snack integral - probably leave a wake of chaos but it is so much better to wake up to than hunger and thirst. Bedside table

🚰 wash face if the spoons are available

🛏️ Collapse in bed and try again another day

That’s the routine for now. Maybe one day it’ll be better - I hope so. It’s a hard job to do without fatigue. So I hope for a less demanding job one day that still gives me fulfilment. But I am so thankful for my patient coworkers who give me a lift home and keep an eye on me on the bad days. I do the best I can. I hope it shows. I hope my presence helps even on these days. Also I hope this is not a crash and I can be back up and running by the weekend. We’ll have to see.

you might have talked about this before, but I'd love to know what the Chaotix are like in your AU! I miss the archie crew so bad

YAAA so the whole gang is knux, js, mighty, ray, charmy, espio, and vector. charmy hasn’t gotten back from his colony in my archie reading so idk saffron yet, but considering her position in the story as charmys fiancé and that my version would def have charmy still be 6 (and not a prince), i’m not currently planning on including her but idk maybe her character will really speak to me and ill find a way to rewrite her backstory and fit her in another way.

mighty and ray’s meeting story is a little different, i still like the idea of ray not having any living family left and mighty rescuing him, but instead of the whole prison camp thing i think ray was a survivor in a roboticized town that the chaotix visited (without needing to deal w the echidnaopolis/dingos/good-god-what-is-that debacles they would prob be a bit closer tied to the freedom fighters, but i still Do want to give them their own unique facet of the story instead of just ffs version2. still a wip.). maaaaaybe ray reminds mighty of tilly and thats part of the reason why he takes ray in, but tbh i’m not a big fan of the whole “i only (started to) care about this person because they remind me of someone else i loved.” especially in light of rays anxiety about mighty getting tilly back and being scared tilly would replace him. so still not set in stone why mighty would decide to invite ray to join them. maybe it was just his big ole eyes. he looked very polite

something i kinda wanna explore is the origins of the detective agency, i don’t think id try to involve everyone in it though. it would still just be espio charmy and vector. the three of them eventually move off the island for business reasons, which would lead into why they’re so strapped for cash in a way that doesn’t seem to be affecting knuckles mighty js and ray. because the former three are actually trying to enter an at least somewhat capitalist society (sorry). i’m not sure how it would end up being those 3 specifically though or why they would decide to become detectives. i’m coming up with nearly all of this on the spot because you prompted me to even think hard about it (thank you)

charmy def only came along because when push comes to shove hes their little brother and they couldnt leave him behind, maybe it was esp and vec’s idea to begin with because they started accidentally solving cases and found they were actually good at it, and kinda similar to how they got a lot of work after the metal virus helping ppl find loved ones, they figured they could be of similar help with deroboticized mobians, and the other four just respectfully declined (knux and js for obvious reasons, and mighty just didnt think he was cut out for that sort of thing. and ray is sticking w mighty).

js and knux are def the two most tightly rooted to the island, but js is more prone to cabin fever than knuckles is so she does leave pretty often. usually she tries to get knuckles to come with her and someone else will watch the emerald, but even though knuckles DOES trust his friends he gets kinda antsy if hes away from it for too long or too often, so a lot of the time she leaves by herself or with someone else. archie!chaotix kind of put the story in a position where knuckles didnt have to worry about the master emerald quite as much because he had a bunch of friends who lived on the island and could cycle through guard duty when he wasnt there. it wasnt a BAAAD thing per se but the emerald is such a key part of knuckles character that i feel like if he no longer has to bear that weight alone then the core of his character is lost a bit ToT if you know what im saying. so i dont want him to be quite so willing to just let someone else handle it.

im on the fence about espio's spy backstory w the shinobi, i enjoyed READING it but idk if id want to carry through with it. the idea of him learning stuff that he just keeps from people could be recycled somehow though

this is the first animatic Ive ever posted (and im still quite proud of it? weird). The way I made it tho… is uh… probably unconventional (click the read more thing to learn how ;3)

OK SO I firstbtried using flipaclip. but after the sketches and figuring out timing I realized that exporting the video caused the audio to be offset and that bugged the shit outta me so I changed plans i screen recorded the preview in flipaclip, imported the recording to procreate, and COUNTED THE FRAMES. INDIVIDUALLY. Finally i could match the number of frames to the actual nice ones I made in procreate. sweet! i had a video! i think! then i realized: “wait how do i add audio” PANIC

then I remembered the iMovie app my brother and i used to make home movies with. That could work! (i have no computer so no actual nice software, and less features in imovie) (sad) so i put the video into imovie and added the audio it… it was off. like very off. i tried editing it but it was so bad i got tired and gave up. i forgot about it completely.

like a month later i found it again, and being less sick of looking at it, I was like: yea sure i could upload this. I asked my brother, who had a computer, to add subtitles. But the program he used made incredibly crusty subtitles and i couldn’t match them completely with the frames. oh well. i uploaded without the subtitles and carried on my day.

until a few days later I realized I could make it BETTER I went back to the timed frames and added subtitles individually to each, according to the original music video, so us english speakers could know what the lyrics are (which i wanted because the korean lyrics are mostly the reason this song resonated so strongly with my story) so I tried to edit the timing in the frames better, but in imovie it again sucked ass. so, i finally gave up, and slapped the “timed” frames in so I could split the video in imovie and cut out extra time and get the timing PERFECT! it took like 3 hours cus i didn’t know what i was doing but I did it! i sure did

anyway ask me if u wanna know any lore stuff :) ill try not to give away too much
