LOVEBUG â COLE WALTER
REQUEST: Can I do a request for Cole Walter where he and the reader are about to sleep together for the first but she figures that he just will hook up with her and go back to Erin. But he actually has feelings for her and he found out it is her first time ever so he makes sure to tell her that he actually has feelings for her. (Some mature content if youâre cool with that)đ
WARNING(S): Angst, fluff, only indication of smut at the end, no actual smut.
WORD COUNT: 2,804
PAIRING: Cole Walter x fem!Reader
A/N: I hope you enjoy it! Feedback is always welcomed! Also, I don't do taglists any more guys!
MASTERLIST
If there was one thing you couldnât let go of it was trying and not being able to have a conversation with Cole. You found it difficult since he had been avoiding you like the plague. Heâd brush past your shoulder in the halls, and if you locked eyes in public he was already walking the other way. Your friendship has been one for the history books. A long-lasting friendship since elementary, but you wondered when and if your bond was soon to expire. You wanted to keep trying though because trying meant you wouldnât have to lose Cole for good.Â
You had had your doubts the second Katherine had invited you to attend Haley and Willâs wedding. Your doubts clouded your mind as you felt your presence and attendance would cause a great deal of stress or frustration for Cole. Seeing as how he didnât want to talk to you, you did your best to stay far away, sit far, but even then you watched as he left in the middle of the dancing. Heading towards the barn. You had wished you had gone after him sooner, but you waited, waited till everyone was asleep. Anxiety was all you felt as you faced his workshop shed. The light was on indicating that he was in there but if it hadnât been for the banging and clanging of tools against metal you would have assumed otherwise. It was only one foot after the other. You thought to yourself. Some part of you told you to run and turn, but he was alone and in his element, this would have to be your only time to get your chance. You had to be brave, and strong, but you were not at the moment so you went head first, heart second. You had opened the door and made your way inside. You complicated whether to make your presence known but it ended up being one hesitant knock followed by two certain ones. You had barely made your way into the area before his voice made you halt in your tracks.Â
âDidnât expect you to be hanging around still. Itâs late, shouldn't you be on your way home by now?âÂ
âH-Howâd you know it was me?â You gape at him like a fish out of water, not having expected him to speak first.Â
âYouâre the only person I know that knocks after walking into a room.â He continued to twist a bolt. âPlus you do things in threes.â
You gaped at him. âNo, I donât.âÂ
You watched as he turned his eyes towards you, a shit-eating grin on his eyes as he leaned to his left. His hand curls into a fist as he reenacts your entrance. Tapping against the metal for effect.
One⌠two three.Â
âThree times.â He smirked, raising his left brow. You wanted to slap him then and there.Â
âDidnât peg you as the type to pay attention to things like that?âÂ
âLike what? Like how you scrunch your nose and close your eyes when the sun is in your face, and continue to have a conversation like that. Or how you like to listen instead of speaking when youâre in a group. It's just how observant you are. Or how you do things like knock three times after entering a room.â He chuckles, pointing and mocking where you entered. âOr how you donât ask or expect anything from anyone because you feel like youâre being a burden. Which youâre not. Or how you go out of your way to help others so much, even though some people donât deserve to be blessed by your kindness. Or how you prefer bikes to cars cause it means you're helping out the planet a little bit more. Or how you prefer Custard instead of Murphy now because when we were younger Alex said youâd be fine riding himâŚbut then you fell off and you got hurt, and it took a long time to get you to trust us again, and get you back on a saddle. Or⌠how youâve been nothing but sweet to me when all Iâve done is treat you like shit.â He slams the hood of his truck down causing you to flinch. Regret fills him instantly. âOrâŚhow you hate loud noises because it reminds you of all the yelling that happens at home.â If your heart could stop youâd have collapsed dead on the floor before him. But it hadnât, it only skipped and increased in speed because you never thought he'd be so attentive to you.Â
âStill donât peg me as the type to pay attention to things now?â He opened his arms out and gave a tight-lipped grin.Â
âWhat happened to us?âÂ
âI donât know what you mean.â He brushes past you like heâs done so time after time again. He walked over to his work table looking for a torque wrench knowing the one he needed was over by the truck in his toolbox. He just couldnât face you right now.Â
âColeâŚwill you look at me, please? Iâve been trying to talk to you for months now and-â
âHave you seen my torque wrench anywhere I canât find it?â He cut you off.Â
âCole, Iâm serious, if youâd just give me a second-â
âCan we not do this tonight? I need to work on the truck okay? It needed more work after it broke down on me and Jackie the other day and Iâd appreciate it if you-â
âCan you just look at me for once, dammit!â You walk over and bang your fist on the hood and flinch. You see his side profile first before his body follows, he raises a brow at you unimpressed.Â
âOn my truck.â He gestures to where your fist rests.Â
âI have been trying and trying for so long now to get your attention. To talk to you.â You run your hands down your face. âBecause I miss youâŚâ You gesture an open hand to him. âI miss my best friend. I miss wanting to know how your day is going or if your knee has been hurting, but I canât do those things because you donât give me the time of day.âÂ
âIâve been busyâŚâ He shrugs.Â
âBusy right? Yeah, I know what you've been up to.â You close your eyes. âLook Cole, I donât know if Iâve done anything to make you want to avoid me but if I have then Iâm sorry.â You let your head hang forward. âI donât know what to do anymoreâŚâ You hear him before you feel his hands touch your skin gently. In a soft gentle caress, you canât help but lean into his palm. âIâm sorryâŚâÂ
âHey, you donât have to be sorry for anything. Iâve been a jerk okayâŚI've been a shit friend and an even shit brother, but Iâm working on it. I am. Things will be different. Okay, if my speech was anything to go off of, I meant every second of it. Meeting your personâŚWhen I met you, nothing, nothing else mattered to me. I shouldâve realized it sooner too but when do I pay attention to you.â He joked slightly, causing you to roll your eyes. âI should've held you closer because as my mother likes to remind me constantly. Youâre good for me, to me, and way out of my leagueâŚâ Cole laughed lightly. âI guess what Iâm trying to get at is Iâm sorryâŚfor everything. I know I donât deserve to be forgiven for the way Iâve treated you.âÂ
âYou donât.â Cole retreats his hands from your face. Accepting that as your final word. Heâd have walked off with a nod if you hadnât given him the sweet smile he loves seeing on you. âItâs a good thing I forgave you two days ago then..âÂ
âWait what?âÂ
âThanks for fixing my bike by the way.âÂ
He breathes out a laugh, shaking his head in disbelief. âHow did you know about that?âÂ
âI had to take Luna to the vet since she got out the night before, she came back with a limp, but thatâs a story for another time. Anyway, your mom and I chatted and she assumed we were on good terms again and asked if you had given me my bike back yet. It didn't take long to put two and two together. That and Iâve been missing my bike for a week now.â
âCanât trust her now.â He joked.Â
âWhen did you even take it?â You shook your head.
âWhen did you start asking people for rides again?â He raised a brow at you but laughed as you went to playfully smack him for he was the reason for your lack of transportation. âI was driving the boys home from school when I saw you one day kneeling beside your bike. I wasnât spying by the way, I just happened to see you in all your damsel nessâŚâ He dragged out the s.Â
âRightâŚâ You squint your eyes at him in amusement.Â
âI figured it couldâve been the chain since you complained about it falling out one time, so it was either that or the tires finally gave out because letâs face it, sweetheart, that thing was ancient.â He started walking backwards with a smirk. âIt was supposed to be a surprise but I guess now is as good of a time as any.â He grabbed a hold of the sheet that covered it and yanked it off.
Your heart did stop then and there. You gasped quietly as a cherry red bike was presented before you. Cole rolled it over in front of you before pulling down the support lever. Though it had been the basket with a pink bow on it that caught your attention. It was beautiful.
âYou fixed it.â You reached a hand out to touch it but left it hanging mid-air. Too scared to ruin it. Break it. âAndâŚpainted it?â You raised a confused brow at him.
âNo. I got you a new one.â He grinned sheepishly as you looked up at him in shock. âThe basket was a personal touch I added to it though. I thought you could use something to carry your backpack and books, and the flowers you deliver on Wednesdays. Youâve always carried your bag on your back so I thought this could help take that heavy weight off your shoulders.âÂ
âColeâŚT-This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. Thank youâŚâ His heart swelled as you flashed him a smile. You looked back to the bikeâŚthinking he mustâve spent his paycheck on it. You couldnât believe heâd done such a thing for you.Â
âYouâre welcome bug.â He nodded. âYou deserve something nice. Plus your old bike was on its last limb. That and I thought itâd be good for me to get some exercise in. Work the leg out some more ya know. Believe it or not, I donât remember the last time I ever rode a bike.â He chuckled.Â
"Bug...You haven't called me that in a long time."
"It's my name for you..."
"Yeah, I know it is..." You mutter softly. You thought about the name for a second before your brows furrowed in confusion. âWait if you got me a new oneâŚWhat did you do with the old bike?â
âAh thought youâd never ask. I fixed it.â He jogged back over to the corner. Rolling over the old rusted red one out. He swung a leg over the seat. âThought you can use the company on Wednesdays.âÂ
âKeep me company huh?âÂ
âYeah, I think itâs time I find a new hobby.âÂ
âSulking bored you out.âÂ
âAmong other thingsâŚâ He shrugs. âI want things to be different.â He cleared his throat and held your gaze.Â
âIâm happy for you Cole.â You nodded.Â
âAnywayâŚLetâs test this bad boy.â He pedaled out a few feet then you both watched and heard as the clank of the chain fell out. It lay on the floor. You looked up in time to meet his gaze. You had to cover your mouth to keep you from laughing.Â
âThought you said you fixed it.â
âYeahâŚThe chain wonât stay. So expect a lot of stopping when we go out on them.â He gave a sheepish grin.Â
âYou took the old one.â You stated. Turning back to your new one with a new sense of warmth and longing.Â
âYou were due for a new one. No way I could keep letting you ride this thing. I mean, look at it!â He judged the rusted two-wheeler.Â
âHey donât make fun. She held out for as long as she could.âÂ
His eyes flickered onto you, lingering on your eyes a little longer before he let his eyes roam to your heels, up to where your dress ended, then his eyes raked back up to your pouty lips. The accidental double entendre wasnât lost on him. You had held out for him as long as you could too and heâd been nothing but an ass.Â
âYeah, she sure didâŚâ He nodded slightly. You hold his gaze for a bit longer then look away.Â
âFor what it's worth. I appreciate you doing this for me.â You grew closer to him, a timid stance as you fiddled with your already chipping nail paint. âI donât think I can show you just how thankful I am, but all I got is this.â You exhaled, then leaned over to press a kiss against the side of his cheek. Cole closed his eyes wanting the touch of your lips to linger on him a bit longer. You pulled away the slightest, your eyes flickering down to his lips before you averted your gaze. Coleâs chest rose and fell at the sudden change in the atmosphere. He often wondered what your lips pressed against his felt like. Thoughts and questions he probably shouldnât have had like what did you taste like? What noises he could get out of you. He was hungry for your touch, and he wasnât about to ruin the opportunity to do the one thing he longed for.Â
You watched as he stood up from the bike, letting it lean on the support bar. You took a step back as he closed the distance between you two. His hand reached up to find its place again against your cheeks. âIâm gonna kiss you now.â Your breath hitched at his words. âLet me know if youâd like me to stop.â
âOkayâŚâ You had closed your eyes shut as you waited for him to lean in. It was the barely-there brush of his lips that had you gasping for air. It was the effect he had on you. When he was sure you wouldnât pull away from him, he slid his hand underneath your jaw holding you there as he walked you both to his work table. The wood had met you back as he knelt to pick you up. Your hands slid over and into his locks. Tugging him closer to you as he stood in between your thighs.Â
âSay the wordâŚâ He pulled away from your lips kissing down your jaw, onto your neck. âAnd Iâll stop.â He breathed out as he took note of each sigh of contentment you let out.Â
âD-Donât stop. Please donât stop.â You lifted his chin to have him look at you once more. You curled a hand into his hair and crashed your lips onto his.
âI wonât stop then.â He pecked your lips, pulling back in a teasing manner. You grabbed both sides of his face to press your mouths together, having enough of his playfulness. You just wanted him then and there. You knew you were in for a long evening hearing him unzip his slacks. His belt buckle following next.
âP-Promise this isnât just a one-time thing. That this wonât be like Erin or any of the other girls youâve been with. That you wonât leave after this. This is my first time after all.â
âIs that whatâs worrying you?â He leaned in and pecked your lips sweetly.Â
âWould you be upset if it was?â
âNo. Thank you for being open and honest about your concerns to me. But I promise you this time it's different, with you itâs different. I feel something when Iâm with you, and I donât want to find out what my life will be like if you arenât in it any time soon, but as long as youâre game. Iâm in this for the long run.â
âI thought Cole Walter didnât do relationshipsâŚâ Cole knew you were only kidding by the teasing in your tone.
âYeah well that Cole didnât know what love felt like until he met you.â
âYou love me?â You grin feeling that warmth spread over your heart once more.Â
âI love you.â He nodded certainly.

things you do that makes people think you're dating âheadcanons
alex walter x reader
⢠you're best friends and you're really close
⢠sharing drinks, you are really use to share drinks. you can be drinking your coffee and alex will take your cup to steal a sip
⢠you two sharing clothes, hoodies, shirts, hats, shorts, etc. sometimes you forget whose the owner
⢠you're clingy with each other, always holding hands, resting hands on the others knee, resting his arm over your shoulder, etc. And in a crowd he likes to hook a finger into your belt loop, making sure he doesn't lose you
⢠the way you see the other, how you're eyes light up when you find each other in a crowded room
⢠how you desperately reach for each other after being separated for so long. If you didn't see the other during the day you facetime each other (once nathan had to threw alex a pillow bc he didn't let him sleep)
⢠always being the others plus one on any event or party
⢠you always wishing him good luck before every competition with a kiss on his cheek and he hugging you tightly and kissing your forehead after his performance

Randomly watched My Life With The Walter Boys and I'll say this...
Alex in the first half was so endearing. His anxiety, his mannerisms and literally everything about the way he acted and spoke made him extremely likeable and just someone you were absolutely rooting for. And you could tell they wanted us to root for him.
Then in the second half it was like they were actively attempting to assassinate his character, to the point that even within the show itself Jackie was calling out his OOC behavior. But this was an obvious attempt to make Cole seem less problematic and the better choice for Jackie. What the show failed to realize however is that the thing that made Cole almost redeemable was finding out he wasn't the asshole that hooked up with his brothers girlfriend on purpose, so to have him turn into the asshole that hooks up with his brothers girlfriend on purpose is crazy to me. I mean this dude spent the entire season on his soap box claiming to be crucified for something he "would never do" to his brother and then in the end did it anyway knowing how much that affected Alex the first time.
I'm sorry but I cannot root for them. It's disgusting what Cole and Jackie did to Alex. And as much as they tried to make it seem like Alex was being insecure, clingy and generally overbearing in the relationship he had his reasons and to be fair they were completely understandable. Alex 100% did not deserve that from either of them. This will crush him and his relationship with his brother is now probably ruined beyond repair. I'm on Alex's side on this one. He can do so much better than a girl who would kiss his brother right after he tells her he loves her.
Cole and Jackie deserve each other. He's a mess and so is she. They'll be great together until they're not and when it's over he would have ruined his relationship with his brother and she will be licking her wounds wishing she had chosen the guy who treated her kindly from the beginning.

blue walls, blue eyes, and the blue blanket // cole walter x reader
summary: you donât have a good home life and end up unofficially moving in with the walter boys.
warnings: physical & verbal abuse, underage drinking, counsellors depicted in a negative light, swearing, canon divergenceâjackieâs family never passes away, so while katherine and her mother are still good friends, theyâve not met/moved in with the walters.
word count: 5957
thereâs a ding, and the principal is speaking over the pa. everyone stops what theyâre doing so nothing is missed. after all, this doesnât happen often.
the teacher freezes, dry erase marker still pressed firmly against the board, the end squishing and ink bleeding atop the letter he was writing and danny, whoâs sitting beside you, gives you a look. you know its meaning, recognize the weight behind it, and know this routine. you stand up quickly. the backs of your knees slam into the hard plastic you had been sitting on and the chair goes skittering back, bumping into the pair of desks behind you.
youâre too tired to send that apologetic smile to anyone else. fortunately danny isnât. making sure you arenât alone, arenât the only one being disruptive and making noise in an otherwise silent classroom, he braces a hand on the back of his chair, twisting around, to face your wide-eyed classmates. âsorry about that,â he whispers.
your movements are all harsh. theyâre fast and full of annoyance, as you swipe your textbook, pencil kit, and water bottle off your desk and into your awaiting tote bag.
standing up, you make your way to the door. the teacher stares daggers at you the entire way. They go to grab your arm and you flinch away. âdonât touch me,â you grit, hands gripping around the doorknob so tightly it hurts. air is hitting your face, propelled towards you by the door you shoved open, when you hear your dismissal âplease send y/n l/n to guidance,â spoken over the announcements. your teacher follows you out into the hallway, shouting instructions that you reluctantly follow, after you.
you count the tiles on your way. nearly running into the blue door, you end at fifty six.
ms jacobs, tara, as sheâll insist you call her, is a nice enough lady. she has curly brown hair, brown eyes, and perfectly painted on lipstick. she looks disarming, as a counsellor with the numbers of everyone that could ruin your life on speed dial, you suppose she has to. still, this isnât new. she leads you further into the room and gestures to a chair âtake a seat.â
when you don't, her smile becomes more strained. âplease, y/n. this doesnât need to be difficult, we just need to have a chat.â
you sigh, shoulders sagging as you plop down into the hundredth blue thing in this office. doors, trim, thereâs a ridiculous amount of the colour and you donât like it. blue, represents sadness. itâs something youâve had enough of. sure, thereâs other colours. posters upon postersâsome neon, and green leaves stuck onto a large potted plant. thereâs other colours just like thereâs other feelings, but the one youâre stuck on, the one you canât get over is sadness; it's blue.
âi hate the colour blue, Ms. Jacobs.â You tell her.
âwhy?â she asks, interested in you opening up further. you donât.
âare you going to give me the run-down? tell me what i can and canât say?â
her brows furrow. âdo i need to? i called you here to talk about your grades but if thereâs something else going onââ
âthere isnât ms jacobs. i do appreciate the concern, though. about my grades. theyâre passing, i donât see the problem.â you didnât have a single grade above fifty five. it was hard to, when all of your teachers assigned heaps and heaps of homework and you would rather take a deep-dive into hellfire, brimstone, and lakes of lava, then return to the place you were expected to complete it at.
âcall me tara.â you donât.
âms jacobs, if it would make you happy, iâll try harder.â
âit would, y/n. thank you.â
you gather your things and stand. a glance at your phone lets you know your second class is over, so you plan to head to the cafeteria. âand y/n, just know that whatever you say to me is confidential.â Unless you are or are planning to hurt yourself, someone else, or if someone is hurting you.
âbye ms jacobs.â
walking into the cafeteria was masochistic in a way, when they were serving your favourite food, and you had no lunch or money to buy any with. still, in your hurried text chain with danny, this is where you had decided to meet. If you had to sit with the theatre kids to score some time with your friend, you would, although it would be better if you could grab him and go somewhere that didnât make your mouth water and stomach ache.
walking over to his table, you noticed alex was there too. Just chatting with his brother. You and alex werenât the best friends, but he was nice enough, and like issac, lee, nathan, and cole, you had his number written down in your notepad under the âjust in caseâ column. you didnât mind alex, he was polite and much like his brother, danny, never made you feel less than. alex was always armed with a smile.
âdanny!â you called, announcing your presence so you wouldnât scare anyone. you smiled at Alex who as expected, mirrored your expression. ânice to see you. mind if I cut in and steal your brother?â
alex nods, âbe my guest. iâll see you at the end of the day danny!â
he leaves and then youâre pulling danny up and along with you. he barely has time to grab his lunchbox before the two of you are leaving the cafeteria and heading outside. you slump down against the brick wall and danny takes a seat across from you. cross-legged, he pulls out two sandwiches and hands one to you. you eyes widen.
âiâm pretty observant,â he supplies, shrugging.
âthank you, dâ you eat the sandwich, and itâs a good one. âdo you have plans after school?â âplease donât be busy, please donât be busy, please donât be busyâ you repeat in your head over and over again. itâs a mantra, youâre manifesting. hoping, hoping, hoping.
ây/n/n, iâm sorry, i actually do. erin tried out for the schoolâs production and she wants help going over her linesâi would invite you to tag along butâŚâ
âno, no!â yoy laugh. manifesting doesnât work, mantras are pointless, and shit, what are you supposed to do about tonight? âno, danny. donât worry about it. i know you like erin and this is the perfect opportunity! if sheâs asking for help with linesâi mean youâre awesomeâbut letâs be real, you can go over lines with anyone. so, if sheâs asking you specifically for help, that's such a goodâa really good sign!â
you two talk for a while longer but itâs easy to see your mind is elsewhere.
the bell rings, you head to your last classes, and then home.
youâve got to go home.
well, to your house. that place, those four walls, they stopped being your home a long time ago. when your dad got drunk and your mom got mean.
cole walter pulls up beside you on your way home. his truck slows down, nearly to a stop, and you keep walking. your headphones are on and youâre pretending you canât hear him. you can, but, you hope heâll tire of shouting, slam his food on the gas pedal, and leave you in a cloud of dust. ây/n, hey! l/n, you need a ride or what?â
the truck stops, pulls off the side of the road and then youâre hearing a door slam and cringing, face crinkling as you realise you shouldâve just said no. shouted it, even.
cole walter jogs up to you. he knows your house is quite far away. too far away to be walking. he calls to you again but youâre still walking forward. he places his hand on your shoulder. you know heâs there. you know heâs beside him and still you fucking flinch. the second time today and you're feeling pathetic. you shouldnât beâreally shouldnât be. itâs not your fault that people canât seem to respect the concept of personal space, not your fault that your trust has been violated, shredded and spat out, so many times that touch makes you jump. makes you want to jump, or crawl, your way out of your own skin. you flip your headphones down, letting them fall around your neck, but turning your music up a few clicks so you can still hear it. music is your vice, but no oneâs complaining because itâs better than alcohol or drugs or, i don't know, being an assholeâyou do that too. unintentionally sometimes. like now.
âwhat?â you snap. on the defensive.
cole isnât surprised by your flinching. You were dead to the world, listening to music so loud he could hear it from where he stood paces away from you. if he were youâif it was your hand that had sat down onto his shoulder and surprised him he probably would have shouted. he caught you off guard, he was sorry. both of his hands stuck up in the air. âthatâs my bad. sorry for scaring you.â
âsorry forââ you guess he did scare you. in a way. âitâs fine. what are you doing here?â you take your time looking at cole. his sharp jaw, full lips, his blue eyes. usually you hate that colour, but on him? itâs not so bad.
âoffering you a ride. youe place is pretty far from here, yeah?â
âit is but i like walking.â
âwalking is fine and all, but itâs getting colder and it gets dark around five now. by the time you make it home itâll be past that. my truck has heat, comfy seats, and iâll even let you have aux.â
youâre not a stranger to the effect cole walter has on everyone. not at all. when he smiles at you, you feel your cheeks warm. youâre an idiot for not taking him up on that offer. your feet already ache and your legs burn.
some things hurt more, though.
actions, all of them, have consequences.
âiâm fine, cole. but thank you. youâre sweet.â
he shakes his head. you arenât walking anymore, instead, stopped on the side of the road just waiting. this conversation, itâs going places. places you donât like. âi canât let you walk home alone. not in good conscience.â
heâs jogging back to his truck and pulling up beside you. heâs leaning over the centre console and pushing the door open. leaning over further, and helping you up, not starting to drive again until your seatbelt is buckled. if only that was the least of your worries. if. only.
âso what do you want to play?â
you plug in your phone and queue up your playlist. a sad song blasts and you hit skip very quickly, not missing the questioning look cole sends you. you laugh, âdonât tell me youâve never listened to sad music while youâre reading.â
âi donât read much, and most of the music i listen to is because of the lyrics. those ones were⌠dark.â
choosing to disregard most of his statement, you echoed his words back to him. âyou donât read much?â
âalex reads a lot. you two would get along.â
âshared interests arenât everything. we donât have much in common but i enjoy your company and danny and i click and we both hate each other's favourite tv show with a passion.â
âwhat show is that?â you tell him and he grins. âthatâs my favourite tooâseriously. we should get together and watch it sometime.â
âiâd love that!â so, shared interests arenât everything, but theyâre certainly something. you smile for a couple more kilometres and then it gets harder. when you see the sign with your civic on it, you know that the ride, no matter how awesome it was, and how much fun you had, wasnât worth it.
you hop out of the truckâcole offered to walk you to the door but you denied, knowing you were already in for it. âthank you, though.â
He nodded. âi can give you a ride tomorrow, too. anytime you need one, really. just askâor get danny to. I really donât mind.â you smile. thank him again and climb out of the truck. you walk confidently until he pulls out of the long driveway and onto the road. then you sigh, and itâs because of coleâs conscience that you get home before itâs dark enough for you to slip in unnoticed.
you pause on the porch. you donât want to go in, but you donât have a choice. not really. what are your other options? run off into the woods and let yourself be some colorado woodland creatureâs lunch? knowing whatâs coming, it doesnât sound too bad. you open the door and nearly sob when the wind slams it shut behind you.
your heart beats hard in your chest like your fatherâs boots do on the floor. âwhere the hell have you been! days, gone for days. you couldnât call, couldnât fucking text,â with each word, most of them slurred, he storms closer. itâs not even suppertime and his eyes are glassed over with that familiar film, his breath a pungent reminder, as obvious as the one in his hand, of what heâs been drinking all day. your mother is behind him in the hallway, puffing on a cigarette, uninterested. âthereâs no respect! ya here the brat? thinking they run the place. cominâ and goin without a care.â
âi donâtâi know i donât run the place.â
âdamn right you donât!â the half emptyâyouâve never been a glass-half-full type of person, not growing up in thisâbottle of beer come flying at the wall. it hits just above your head, the liquid and brown pieces of glass falling all over you.
âlook what you made me do now! gone and spilled mâdrink.â
you had taken your converse off at the door. always being yelled at for trekking in mud and dirtying the floor, the hurried steps you take backwards, hurt. your dad is wearing work boots, steel toe, but the only thing between you and the broken glass is a thin pair of socks. your skin splits. the light blue fabric on your feet turns dark red.
you whimper and each step hurts more than the last. then you bump into the wall. âdad, please.â
âcalling me thaâ like you think itâll make me forgive you. fuck,â he throws a glance over his shoulder. âhowâd we make something so⌠so pathetic?â
your mom shrugs, like she hasnât a clue, either.
âdad, please. iâm sorry, okay? iâll call next time.â
âthere wonât be a fucking next time! get your shit and get out. all we do for you, all we do and youâre still impossible. keep you fed, clothed, give you a place to sleep and just get attitude, attitude, and disrespect. iâm done being disrespected. done!â
âyou canât just kick me out! i have nowhere to go.â you yell. you yelled. you yelled. oh god. oh hell. oh shit. you see his leg rear back and you go to jump out of the way. youâve already been kicked outâyou just need to get out, and quickly. you jump over his leg but then his fist is wrapped in your hair and youâre falling. then the boot you dodged is slamming into you side. again, again, again. tears are streaming down your face. youâre sobbing.
then heâs picking you up by your shirt. lifting you, dragging you. he opens the door, grabs your bag, your shoes, and throws them outside. then, then he throws you. you land on the porch, body aching and pressing into the hardwood.
the door slams and youâre still sobbing. youâre pretty sure that your new mantra is âfuckâ. itâs what you repeat over and over again as you drag yourself up and away from the front door. You need to get away, you need to get away. You really need to. creating distance between you and that door, you and those people, is priority.
âfuck, fuck, fuck.â
running isnât really in the cards for you. you limp away and donât miss your mother peering out the kitchen window. you guess that from her perspective you do look pathetic. but no more pathetic than your dad, the grown man who had to hurt you to feel powerful and get his point across. your pace is terrible but the darker it gets, the further you get. youâre in the woods now, with no idea where exactly you are and not much supplies. maybe you will end up as woodland creature dinner. thereâs not much you can do to help it now. you think about calling someone and then you realise your phone isnât in your bag. you start to shake. choked laughter bubbles itâs way out of your throat. youâre laughing and then the hysterics shift and youâre sobbing. arms wrapped tightly around yourself you cry for what must be hours.
later, slumped against a tree trunk you decide to tackle your feet. one problem at a time, one shard at a time. you pluck pieces out of your skin and the blood makes you feel nauseous. when the job is done, you slide your socks back on, and walk towards the sound that comforts you most. Rushing water. you find a river, and kneel at its edge. you wash your socks, yourself, and dry on a stone in the sun. you scrub the dirt and grime from your feet. when your socks are mostly dry and the cuts have stopped gushing blood, you put on your shoes and lace them up. then you follow the river. youâll reach town soon enough. your face isnât marred, just the rest of you, all hidden beneath layers of clothesâa long sleeve, a flannel, blue jeans.
ideally, youâll find danny.
you donât live in an ideal world. the boy you find is not danny but he wants something you can give and has something you needâa place to sleep. you do so without clothes, lying next to him. What you did was in the dark, would stay that way, because before he woke, before you were made to converse with the nameless boy, you dressed and snuck out. the walk of shame was just that, shameful. you felt horrendous. your body still hurt and you found yourself walking into a cafe you knew haley, willâs wife worked at.
asking for handouts made your stomach sour but you couldnât do much else.
haley was scrubbing down a table when you approached her. âhey, haley.â
ây/n, hey, howâs it going?â then she turned to you and realised, not good. that it was not going good. you shot her a flattened smile. âi really hate to ask. like, i really really do, but i havenât eaten in a bit and was wonderingââ
âyeah, yes. of course. just have a seat, iâll grab you⌠do you have any dietary restrictions?â you answer her, and when she comes back, handing you a wrapped meal you thank her profusely. âis there anything you need done around here? i appreciate this so much, but i donât want to take advantage. i can cleanâiâm not a great cook but I can make coffee.â
âyou donât need to do anything. you arenât taking advantage. not at all. is there anything else i can do for you? anyone i can call? your parents?â
fear fills your eyes and perceptive as ever, she catches it. ânot them, please.â is what you whisper. haley nods, disappears behind the counter and makes a phone call. then, she dotes on you for the next ten minutes until wil pulls up outside. he comes in, walks over to your table and sits down across from you.
youâre pretty sure youâve been caught. the ruse, itâs very much up.
âwhatâs going on, y/n?â
you shrug and sip at the hot chocolate haley made for you. âwell, come on. you donât have to say anything right now but letâs get you home.â you stand, ready to go anywhere but, and will stops you. âmy parentâs home, dannyâs. katherine knows youâre coming. come on, kid.â
you follow him to the car. most of the drive is silent, but you thank him when the walterâs house homes into view and katherine is waiting outside on the porch with a smile. up the few stairs, and you head straight for her. youâre grateful for her gentle nature, because as you throw your arms around her and squeeze, she simply rests hers on your back, rubbing soothing circles. âtheyâthey kicked me out.â
she takes a minute to respond, only because she finds this hard to process. you were a good kid, a great one, and she, having so many of her own, couldnât think of a single thing that would make her abandon or discard one of her own children. âyouâll stay with us then.â it isnât a question and youâre glad because how would you have answered? your mouth is dry but your eyes arenât.
you sit in dannyâs room. he isnât home from school yet but he will be soon. katherine and george are upstairs making room for you. you feel like a burden, they assure you that you are not.
youâre waiting for danny, only he isn't who makes it home first. itâs cole. he walks in, tosses his bag down onto the bed, none the wiser that thereâs another person in the room. his back faces you and heâs rifling through a drawer when he hears you hiccup. he turns around quickly. Sees you, crying in his brother's bed and immediately his brows are furrowed. ây/n?â he walks closer. the bed is near to the ground so he drops onto his knees. heâs close to you know but heâs made himself less intimidating. ây/n/n? hey.â
âhi Cole.â
âare you okay?â
âiâve been better.â
cole doesnât ask, he doesnât push. instead he opens his laptop, logs into his netflix and puts on the favourite show you both discussed watching together. when the two of you are settled. him on the floor, face resting on the mattress, where youâre curled up in a blanket that belongs to his brother, he breaks the silence. âdo you want me to get danny?â
âwhere is he?â
âheâs with erin at the school. i think theyâre going over details for the production. but i can go get him if you need him. do you need him?â
you shake your head. as dannyâs best friend you were the biggest âderinâ shipper there was. plus, cole was here. he made things okay. âno, no thanks. i donât really want you to go anywhere if thatâs okay?â
âthatâs more than okay, but i will say, my bed is comfier.â
you smile for the first time in a bit, looking at the uncomfortable position he has himself in. âyeah? well, we should definitely watch this, over there then.â
âmy thoughts exactly.â cole grabs the laptop, grabs you, still wrapped in the blanket he tells himself heâll replace from the linen closet, and carries both over to his bed. you squeal a bit and bite back a real whimper when his hand touches what you know has to be a massive bruise, sitting you down.
you fall asleep, leaning against him. he pauses the show, closes his laptop, and promises to resume it when youâre awake to watch it with him. then he sends a threatening text to his brother, danny.
COLE: Y/n/n has had a rough day and is sleeping in our room
COLE: Wake her up and youâll get hit
DANNY: is she okay??? ALSO since when do you call her y/n/n???
COLE: Iâll see you later
COLE: Tell Erin hi for me
DANNY: fuck off
george and katherine didnât receive that same threatening text but when they peeked into the room to check on you and found you cuddled up against cole, snoring lightly, and looking peaceful they left you be. your room was ready and in the morning you moved into it. your clothes were dirty and katherine washed them for you but in the meantime⌠well it was her dresses or⌠or what you went with.
you knocked your fist against the door and cole opened it, shirtless.
âhey cole,â look at his face. just his face. only his face.
âhey y/n. What can i help you with?â
your hand flew to the back of your neck which you rubbed awkwardly. âcan i, uh⌠would you mind if I borrowed a pair of jeans and a belt?â cole chuckled, then realised you were completely serious. then he gave you the jeans. then the belt. âneed a shirt too?â
you laughed, cheeks stained pink. âi wouldnât mindâŚâ
he handed you the plain black one in his hand. âriding with me to school?â
âif iâve got shotgun.â
ââcourse.â he said, grinning.
you headed upstairs and got changed. the pants were big but with the belt, and them cuffed they fit alright. then, came the shirt. it fell mid thigh but once you tucked it in a bit it didnât look too terrible. you brushed your hair, your teeth, and headed downstairs. george looked at you with wide eyes and you shrugged, âi donât really like dresses?â
katherine sighed. âweâll get you some clothes after school.â
âfrom the thrift store!â you amended.
she rolled her eyes but agreed anyway. then, you were sitting beside cole on the way to school, during the one class you shared, and at lunchtime. you werenât ditching danny, just his time was split between you and erin now. they started dating. they were sweet, good for and to, each other.
youâd only been living with the walters for two days, but everything was great. until cole invited you to the lake house. two coolers had you feeling buzzed and when it was your first turn, playing âtruth or dareâ, you picked truth and ended up faced with a question you didnât want to answer. so you turned, and pressed your lips to coleâs. his lips parted in surprise, but then he kissed you back, tongue slipping into your mouth as he deepened the kiss. his hands flew to cup your face, your eyes were shut, and you were feeling things. until someone whistled and another yelled: âget a room!â
next round, you were three coolers in and ballsy enough to pick dare. âi dare you to jump into the lake!â
you rolled your eyes. like that was difficult. sure, it was a bit chilly, but youâd been in the river days ago. rushing water compared to water the sun had beat down on all day was nothing. you grinned, and ran to the edge of the dock, canon-balling and sending water flying everywhere. when you surfaced you saw the asshole who wore coleâs jersey shaking water out of his hair like a dog. you grinned, and started to swim back over when you saw something that caused you to sober up quickly. the foundation and powder you had painted on top of the hand shaped bruise on your arm had worn off. gone. It was gone and fuck. fuck, fuck, fuck.
when you didnât get out of the water immediately cole was curious. when your face reflected horror, he was concerned.
âyou good?â you werenât. he walked over to the edge and dipped his hand in. the water was freezing. âcome on out, youâll get sick.â
you shook your head, plastering a clearly fake smile on your face. âmy immune system is really strong and i want to swim! iâll be fine cole, gonna go that way.â you make a gesture with your head and begin to paddle in that general direction. away from the lakehouse, away from the people, away from the party. away from coleâor, you tried to get away from cole. he walked on the bank, steps matching your strokes as he followed you. âget out of the water, y/n.â you were still swimming, and now cole was having to duck under and climb over branches and bushes to continue following. now, you couldnât even hear the people at the lake house.
âno thank you.â
âdonât be stubborn. this wasâit was funny thirty minutes ago! Itâs lost the charm. just get out, weâll go back andâŚâ
âi donât want to go back.â
âthen weâll go home. would that make you happy? we can leave, we don't have to go back to school, i can take you home.â
âi want to stay in the water, cole.â
ây/n, just get out of the fucking lake. itâs not that hard! i donât understand why you wonâtââ
youâre in waist deep water and all of you is submerged until it isnât. you stand up quickly. teats sting your eyes and emotion clogs your throat. âyou donât understand, huh?â your voice breaks, shatters, and cracks. âdoes this help? do you see why when i say i want to keep swimming, i mean it? do you see why i want to stay in the water cole?â
he sees something. he sees bruises on your arms. deep purple handprints put there by too big hands and with too much forceâforce that never should have been used on you. heâs blinking, his eyes are seeing but his mind isnât thinking, not fast enough.
âdo you see?!â youâre shouting now, sobbing too. âbecause the makeup washed off and now you can see it. bow everyone can. everyone will see and then theyâll report it and iâll end up in the system in an equally shitty situation! cole,â another wave of sobs interrupts, âcole donât make me get out of the water.â he doesnât, he climbs in with you. water soaks his boots, the bottoms of his jeans, you hear it slosh as he takes large steps and closes the distance between you both. ây/n/n.â
âwhat?â itâs a sob, a plea.
âweâre going to get out of the lake. iâm going to walk you through the woods, out to the road and then iâm going to go get my truck. iâll be ten minutes tops. iâll grab my hoodie too.â
âitâs⌠itâs back on the chair.â
âthe red one, i know.â
âokayâŚâ
cole keeps his word, but after five minutes you hear his truck. it stops, he hops out. he sets the hoodie on top of you and you shimmy into it. âNo one will see, no one you donât want to know, will know. but y/n, you will never go back there, okay? not to that house, not ever, because if you go, iâm following, and the things i do, most authorities will not agree with.â
âi donât ever want to go back there.â
âyou wonât ever have to.â
âthank you.â
âdonât thank me for helping you with something that never shouldâve happened. weâll get you some ice as soon as weâre home.â cole cranks the heat up and angles the fans to point your way.
he opens your door for you and walks closely behind you. no one else is homeâkatherine and george both working and the others at school. cole raids the freezer for anything remotely icey and heads up to your room. he makes a pit-stop to grab his laptop and some snacks from a drawer none of his brothers would ever know about. he steals the blanket you like off of dannyâs bed tooâthe soft one with the blue plaid.
you both watch the show, he looks concerned when you press the frozen peas to your side too. you lift your shirt, show him the damage and he freezes. âugly, huh?â
ânothing about you has ever been ugly, y/n/n but jesus, maybe we should go to a hospital.â
âflattery will get you everywhere cole but thereâs no denying i looked like van gogh fucked up starry nightâand no hospital. theyâd like immediately call someone. plus i think theyâre just bruised and not broken so thatâs good.â
âiâm sorry that this happened to you.â
âoh donât do that. i hate when people apologise for things that arenât their fault.â
âcan i apologise for danny, then? for him not realising what was happening sooner?â cole asked. people werenât perfect, you realised that then, cole having said the first thing that genuinely upset you. this was no oneâs fault. No one but your scum of the earth parentâs.
âno. danny didnât do anything wrong. i didnât want him to know and usually iâm good at hiding these things.â a bitter laugh, and: âusually.â
âi blame the alcohol, but, i guess itâs nice that you know.â
âiâm glad i know.â
and he is. he carries your bag, your books, even goes thrifting with you and katherine. âi like this one,â heâd said, holding up a shirt that barely had any fabric to it. you rolled your eyes for the fiftieth time and picked out a baggy graphic tee shirt instead.
at school he walks you to and from your classes. he sits with you at lunch and helps you come up with excusesânone so awesome that they work without the grin and charm he lays on your pe teacher.
weeks later, your bruises were healed, and to the blind eye, the only indication youâd been abused was the occasional flinching. cole tended to call out his moves before he made them, especially if you werenât sure exactly where he was. your argumentsâfew and far between, seriously, the only thing youâd argued about so far was where you went for lunch, were had with calm voices and distance between the two of you. cole was perfect. he never caught you off guard, he was just always there.
wouls see you getting anxious and move closer. âiâm going to hold your hand,â heâd whisper. when you needed someone to talk to it was always him because he was always there.
then, one night, the two of you were sitting on that same blue plaid blanket. the one you lovedâthe one cole had paid danny $40 for. you were both staring up at the same stars, both wondering the same thing: when had you become so close? you werenât sure if there was a turning point, a particular defining moment, but cole had taken dannyâs place in your heart as âbest friendâ. cole had done that and more. he was more to you than that. he baked your favourite pastry, would go just about anywhere with you, and he made you smile. he made you feel safe. he had told no one your secretâbut katherine and george had a clue, enough of one that they welcomed you with open arms and seldomly raised their voices. enough of one, that for that first few weeks, the ice was always restocked in the freezer.
they had an idea.
but cole knew. knew everything. knew and made you feel okay in spite of everything. he knew and still.. still looked at you like⌠like that. cole, he leaned in closer. you waited and listened. âiâm going to kiss you. because i want to. because i love you how you deserve to be loved. and not because of some truth or dare game.
âit wasnât bad though, right? because i thought it was a pretty good kiââ
cole walter kept his word. he kissed you, and sure, the kiss at the lake house was good. this one was just better.

Kicking my horse in the belly to go faster with the wind running through my hair that I left completely loose. This wasnât the first time I had taken one of the Walter family's horses to clear my head from a day of high school. It all could be a lot especially when everyone in this town knows you have a close family relationship with the Walter kids. Because it only results in half the school thinking you're sleeping with some of them. âWoah boy. Easy now.â
My horse begins making some noise in protest hearing some thunder off in the distance. I knew that horses could get spooked easy but I wasn't too worried about it. Alex had taught me how to keep your cool on them. Looking around at the treeline the leaves have already begun changing colors making it really beautiful. âAh!â I screamed suddenly when lighting hit the ground in front of me and that caused my horse to whine and throw me off its back.
âOw! No waitâŚâ I called out to my horse but he was already far off into the treeline. Running a hand through my hair I sighed seeing that the sky was getting darker meaning there was a storm coming. Digging inside my jacket pocket I drew out my phone dialing the house phone getting no answer. âSeriously a house full of that many people and nobody hears the phone!â
I guess I couldn't blame them for not answering. That house is always loud and crazy no matter what time of day. Plus now that Jackie from New York had moved in things got more complicated. Tapping my knees in thought I tried to decide who would answer my call. Alex was busy with Jackie, Parker was probably outside playing with Benny. Will was working tonight selling houses. Jordan, Nathan, Lee, Isaac and Danny didn't drive. So that left me in the hands of the most popular guy in town who was known for hooking up with multiple girls Cole. Lifting my head up to the sky I felt heavy rain coming down where I scrambled to my feet but collapsed when I felt a sharp pain in my left ankle. âShit!...guess he's my only choice now.â
It wasn't that I hated the guy. I just hated the reputation he had made for himself. The rain came pouring down where I grunted, forcing myself to stand up. I hopped over to the treeline to get some coverage from the storm. The wind was picking up, shaking everything so I dialed his number. âPick up, pick up.â
âWhat's going on, Y/n?â His voice came through the phone.
âDon't make fun of me but I'm lost.â I stated.
He chuckled at me. âHow did little woodlen girl get lost?â
âCole, I'm not in the mood for teasing right now.â I spat back.
The former star football player still was laughing on the other end. âIâm sorry I just canât believe girl who hunts with her father managed to get lost on our property. I mean I never thought Iâd see the day from someone like you.â
âCole, I am currently stuck out in a storm and called you for help so can you take this seriously please!â I raised my voice pulling the hood of my jacket over my head shivering when the wind blew harshly against me.
Finally to my surprise he came to his senses responding back to me. âAlright Iâll come get you.â He hung up the call and I was forced to listen and watch the storm get worse for an hour or so.
Burying my face into my knees my body was shaking from the cold and the fact that my clothes were soaked head to toe. I heard a vehicle engine getting closer in my direction and it pulled to a stop showing me it was Coleâs truck he was usually working on in the barn. The drivers door flung opened and quickly shut where I saw someone running towards me with a jacket in their hands. âCole?â
âOne knight in shining armor, woodland girl.â He declared dropping down on a knee, draping the jacket over my shoulders.
I glared up into his green eyes seeing his blonde hair sticking to his forehead. âCan you please call me by my actual name for once?â
âMaybe someday. Come on let's get out of the cold before we both get frost bite.â He offered me his hands tugging me to stand.
âArgh!â I winced, dropping down on my other knee after my injured ankle.
Cole was quick on his reflectances sweeping me up bridal style into his muscular arms. âLooks like you needed a better horse riding teacher than Alex huh?â
âLetâs not talk about it right now.â I said feeling embarrassed enough as is. He helped me into the passenger seat and we drove home. He carried me upstairs and sat me down on the edge of his bed in his bedroom.
He searched around in the closet grabbing himself a change of clothes. Then he tossed me one of his blue tea shirts and some shorts. âHere I can help you if you need it.â
âTurn around first.â I instructed him, blushing since I haven't even kissed anyone before. He did as told giving me the chance to slip my wet shirt for his and shrugging off my jeans until I thought about getting the shorts on. I pulled them up as much as I could before getting his attention. âCole, I canât get them up without standing on my foot.â
He looks over his shoulder coming back to me moving his hands down to the left side telling me. âLift your foot for me.â I lifted my foot and he shrugged it up then helping me sit back down on the bed so I could do the same to my right leg without his assistance.
âThanks, Cole.â I whispered where he stands in front of me letting silence fill the room. I avoided his gaze, not sure of what to say until I shut my eyes to ask the question. âSo did you have to skip a hookup with Erin to come rescue me?â
He tilted his head to the side. âWhy would you care if I did. You have a crush on me or something, woodland girl?â
âY/n, you know my name so use it.â I corrected him. âAnd even if I did, you don't have relationships. I wouldn't want to be another girl tricked by The Cole Effect.â
He raised a brow at my words. âOh yeah. What makes you think you'd just be another girl I hook up with?â
âLike I said everyone at school knows you don't do real boyfriend girlfriend relationships. You do hook ups and my mother saw it before I did but I refuse to let my feelings for you lead me down that path since you can't possibly feel the same way about me as I do you.â I accidentally admitted without realizing it to him.
Cole stared blankly at me. âYou don't think I feel the same?â
âIf you did, you have a funny way of showing it.â Shrugging my shoulders I lowered my gaze down from his green orbs.
Cole simply replied then closed the gap between us. âIs this enough of an effort for ya.â He cupped my face in his hands, crashing his lips down onto mine.
I gasped in shock and awe that the famous Cole Walter was kissing me. He was kissing me, the girl that wasnât popular like he was. The girl that was just a friend of the family but still no one special. âColeâŚIâve neverâŚ.never done anything like this.â I mumbled tugging on his blonde locks deepening the kiss. He moaned gently pushing me down onto the mattress and he climbed over top of me never breaking the heated kiss until we needed air.
âIâm not doing this to just have a hook up with you, Y/n. Iâm not good with commitment but I do actually care about you.â He breathed out holding himself up by his hands on either side of me, blonde hair falling in front of his eyes and his eyes were focused on me.
Raising one hand up I tangled my fingers into his hair asking the question that was eating away at me now. âSo what does that make us now, Cole Walter?â
âWe can take this slow and figure it out as we go along, Y/n Woodland Girl L/n.â He smiled leaning down kissing me gently this time. I giggled wrapping my arms around his neck bringing him closer to me enjoying the kisses we shared.

Love triangle between two brothers (sisters/best friends) is the worst trope EVER because someone it's going to cheat on someone, probably the girl, and I will end up hating the three of them, especially the girl, because she will be the one who will be confused while not seeing two brothers destroy their relationship over her
#seriously the only tv show i get behind this trope is tvd and thats was in 2012#also if you have a girl and your relationship with your brother is dying literally break up#im sorry but no man or woman is worth destroying something that unfortunately is for life#the summer i turned pretty#my life with the walter boys#cole walter#alex walter#belly conklin#conrad fisher#jeremiah fisher

cole walter x reader
warnings : angst, 18+, swearing, kinda long, mentions of anxiety and anxiety attacks.
i have been obsessing over MLWTWB recently so i am currently trying to make myself chill out so i am making this
ââââââââââââââââââââââ
y/n had met alex at school and they instantly became bestfriends. they bonded over their love of video games and books
it went on like that for years. they were attached at the hip and she became like a part of the family
she was always around that they never even questions when she doesnât go home some nights
of course they made sure she slept in a different room, which she always curled up on the recliner in the living room so danny could make his way down to watch his movies, careful not to wake her up. even if he did, she didnât mind. she would be lulled back to sleep by the sound of the tv.
that was until jackie came to live with the walters
she didnât mind jackie, she actually liked having a girl around but all of a sudden alex was in a trance over the olive skinned girl.
she felt pushed to the side.
forgotten.
âââ
she stood against the counter while alex stared at jackie, her heart broke a little bit.
she didnât feel jealous, she hadnât seen alex that way whatsoever. he was her bestfriend but he was distracted and that made y/ns mind spiral.
she had always had a problem with that. her mind never ending and always telling her she would be forgotten. she wasnât good enough. sheâs replaceable.
her mind then spiraled and she felt lightheaded. she needed air right then or she would burst into flames
she pushed herself from the counter and started towards the front door
âhey! you okay?â jackie smiled at her
âye-yeah iâm okay, jackie. iâm just gonna go take a walk.â the tears were coming and she knew it
âdo you want me to come with?â jackie offered warmly, almost like she knew the look on y/ns features
âoh no, jacks thatâs okayâ
âokayâŚâ she looked at y/n to analyze her, jackie looked over to alex and saw him with his book to his face and then looked at y/n who was already out of the door and sighed.
y/n made her way down the steps as fast as she could.
her heart was pounding so loud she couldnât hear anything going on around her. she just kept walking
she couldnât think of anything else to do, her feet taking her to god knows where
until she ran right into him.
cole walter.
her coley poley.
she grabbed his arm and pushed herself up to keep upright, her whole body was shaking. she prayed he hadnât noticed but cole knowing her like the back of his hand
he knew something was very wrong
âhey, doll. whatâs going on?â he grabbed onto her to keep her steady.
âc-cole. iâm sorry, i didnât mean to run into you. iâm sorry. i just needed some air. iâm sorryâ the apologies just kept coming and the tears were on the brink of spilling
she could barely hear her own words over her speeding heart.
âhey. hey, itâs okay. talk to me, y/n/nâ she looked at him, seeing his eyes for the first time since running into him
they looked helpless
she saw pain and sadness behind them
but the way the sun hit them just right, she saw hope. she saw a little cole running through the fields of the ranch with her, she saw life in his green orbs
they reminded her of the fields here in spring. the different patterns that swirled in the color of his eyes.
she took a deep breath and tried to tell him
but she choked and started to panic again.
he grabbed her face in his hands âlook at me y/n/nâ and she did
he talked to her slowly but nothing made it to her conscious brain. she just focused on the way he was taking breaths and the golden color his eyes had become
she tried to mimic his breaths, slow and deep.
âwill you walk with me, coley poley?â she basically begged and he smiled and nodded at her.
so they did, they walked for what felt like forever before she finally calmed down enough to discuss why she had panicked.
âi just feel replaceable. since jackie got here alex has been, well, distant and we havenât been hanging out as much. iâve just been wandering around the house and the ranch with no real place to be anymore. without alex, where is my place here? is he gonna forget about me?â she looked at cole and his expression softened
âwell, truly you are unforgettable. none of us would have you anywhere else. we all love you, you know that right, y/n/n? plus, sheâs without. if you were my best friend, i would make sure you knew that.â he sighed looking off in the distance then back at her
âyou would?â âi wouldâ
âcmon, i wanna show you somethingâ he stood up and offered his hand to her which she took and he brought her up with ease.
he turned his back to her âget onâ
âwhat?â she questioned
âa princess does not get to walk to a secret locationâ he smiled at her over his shoulder and with a sighed she hoisted herself onto his back.
âgiddy up cowboy.â she smiled at him
âyes maâam.â he winked with a fake southern accent
and he began to make his way towards their destination.
when they made it, her eyes lit up. their destination was at the pond that had hundreds of flowers growing around it, it was truly beautiful around this time of year.
she jumped down and raced towards the pond, to a group of flowers and she laid right down. she closed her eyes and took in the scent of the air around her
cole made his way to her and smiled down at her.
âlay down with me coley poleyâ
âyou gotta stop calling me that. the girls will never let me get close to them if you donâtâ
âoh like you need anymore girls flocking your way. you basically have all of them worshipping the ground you walk onâ she rolled her eyes and elbowed him as he sat down with a strained face
she knew it was hard for him since the incident with his leg.
she could never imagine how hard it must really be
ânot all of themâ he mumbled looking right at her
she made eye contact with him once again, his green eyes staring hard into her e/c ones.
she started counting the light freckles on his face and she began to speak âwell i canât be taken down by the cole effect. i am too strongâ she smiled and flex her arms like she was the worlds strongest man
he laughed at her âi swear iâll never hear the end of âthe cole effectâ i donât get itâ
she scoffed at this âyou donât get it? okay let me try it on you. give you a little bit of the ây/n effectâ i would like to call itâ
âokay give it to me y/l/nâ
she peered out to the water where the sun was shining and leaned towards cole real close, close enough to smell her strawberry scented perfume and lotion.
she pointed to the water and gently touched his back âyou see how the sun just shines on the water, coley poley?â she started, keeping her voice low and smooth
she rubbed a circle on his back which made cole shiver but she ignored it
âit shines right into your eyes, you know? makes them look so,â
he looked at her
âso green and gold. they sparkle, i could just look at them all day. they remind me of a meadow right as the sun is about to setâ
her hand continued to rub his back
he looked like he had never been told this before
almost like it wasnât the truth, y/n had just made it more seductive and sensual.
âitâs just like that, huh?â he whispered
âitâs just like that.â y/n pulled away but he grabbed her wrist quickly
ây/nâ
âcoley poleyâ
ây/n.â
âcoleâ
âdid you mean it?â he leaned closer to her
âevery word.â she smiled at him and leaned with him
ây/n!â she heard alexâs voice and the gallops of feet. her and coke scrambled up quickly and saw alex and jackie riding together
jackie must have said something to alex and he immediately came to find me, not noticing something was off until of course jackie said something.
jackie must of been good at reading people, y/n hated that. she hated being seen through like glass.
cole was standing behind her, pulling the leaves out of her hair and brushing off the back of her shirt.
alex looked at cole with a hard look. knowing what happened between them was rough but they were all still like family.
âwhat are you guys doing out here?â alex questioned them
âi just needed a walk and cole tagged along. i needed the companyâ y/n sneered back.
he was acting like she did something wrong
their problems werenât hers, she needed someone by her side and alex obviously wasnât gonna be there drooling over jackie.
âwhy didnât you ask me?â his eyebrows furrowed when asking
âbecause you were busy, alex. come on, cole.âshe answered perplexed, as if he didnât know why.
she put her hand out towards cole and he took it. they started walking back to the ranch and whatever alex and jackie did wasnât on her mind.
they made it back to the ranch
âthank you, coley poley. i really needed thatâ she smiled facing him
he pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, âof course, doll. anytime you need me, iâm only a shout away.â
y/n made her way into the house to see isaac and lee playing mortal kombat on the couch so she plopped herself in between them and called the next round
ââââ
y/n had fallen asleep in the recliner but woke up to the house of the front door closing. she adjusted her nightgown and threw on a jacket by the front door and made her way outside. she saw the lights on in the barn where cole worked on his truck
she knew it had to have been him. she stood outside and enjoyed the breeze for a moment before walking out to the doors. her hand reached for the handle and she took a deep breath before opening it.
âcoley poley?â she questioned as she closed the doors, she heard light music in the back.
she never pegged cole to listen to this type of music
lights are turned off
music is on
minds are unlocked
this feeling is amazing
âhey doll. did i wake you?â
âkind of but thatâs okay. you werenât loud, iâm just a light sleeper.â
he looked around the hood and started to lower it down before closing it completely
he was wearing a white tank top and his hair was messy around his forehead
she walked over to him and smiled at her âno scary monsters that need scaring away, right princess?â
âwhy no, of course not my knight. only youâ she snickered at him
he feigned hurt âi could never hurt my princess. even if i am a monsterâ
âyouâre no monster, cole walter.â she stepped closer to him
âwhat if i am? would you run?â he stepped even closer to her
ânever.â she whispered, face to face with him.
when i hit the spot you know i hit it perfectly
and you taste so sweet
leave me wanting more soon
as we get out the sheets
he reached up and cupped her cheek his hand hands
he caressed her cheek with his thumb and she leaned more into it
she reached her hand up to his and held on to it, scared it would disappear if she didnât.
she closed her eyes and sighed at the warmth of him.
he then pulled her to him and closed the gap between them.
he swayed them back and forth with the music.
lights are turned off
music is on
minds are unlocked
this feeling is amazing
hands on your waist
liquor is all that we taste
your freckles lead the way
i trace your constellations
she looked up at him and he was already looking at her big e/c eyes.
his eyes were that beautiful gold that they got at certain points when looking at her
all he could think was how ethereal she looked.
the dim light shining on her face, making her eyes sparkle and shine.
she lips plump and pink and her lashes looked long and wispy
she embodied natural beauty.
he didnât feel himself leaning into her
but she was leaning in too.
he stopped himself thinking about how alex would really feel about this.
cole questioned himself for a second before y/n cupped his face to look at her and the look in her eyes threw every thought of doubt out of the window.
he grabbed her face and their lips finally met.
sparks had never been a thing for cole, he just did it to make other girls happy but this was different for him
it was for her too
now isaac had been her first kiss when they were young and of course Dylan, coles friend taking her virginity at a party after they had both had too much to drink. she never told anyone and she was sure he didnât either, cole wouldâve killed him.
this was different like it was what was missing from her life.
like she was waiting for the perfect moment and this was it.
cole knew this was different.
they pulled away and looked at each other for a split second before he started backing her against the front bumper of his truck
âcole..â
ây/nâ he whispered, putting his forehead against hers.
before their lips met once again. more urgency behind this one
her wraps wrapped in the hair at the base of his neck and his hands made her way to her neck
her skin felt like it was on fire
he lifted her to wrap around his waist making her gasp as his lips trailed down her neck and to her collarbone.
she pulled at his hair to bring his lips back to hers and he groaned at the tug of his hair.
alex is gonna be so mad if he ever finds out what happened in the barn that night
i trace your constellations

MASTERLIST
A strange tension lingered between you and Cole after you moved in a few months ago. You had gotten along with the other boys and Parker just fine, but as soon as you came along, it was as though Cole wanted nothing to do with you, or perhaps didnât know what to do with you around, You had no clue what this tension was based off on, but it had made every encounter awkward. It didnât help he was always trying to be a flirt too.
Standing near the entrance of the horse stables inside the barn, you watched as Cole fed and took general care of Custard.Â
"You wanna ride?" Cole then asked in a nonchalant tone, gaze flickering over to you with a light smirk before turning back to the horse.
âMe? Oh uhâŚno. Not by myself. Iâve only ridden on the back with someone back home. But Iâm too scared to take the reins. Plus I think that horses are the only animals that donât like me very much.â
Cole laughed at the notion of horses not liking you. He merely hummed in response, stroking Custard once more while he seemed eager to be fed.Â
This was the first time you hadnât felt the awkwardness fill a space with Cole and you couldn't quite explain why it felt comfortable.Â
He then turned his gaze to you for a moment, before speaking up once more. âWhoâve you ridden with before?â
âMy cousins from my mom's side of the family. They have their ranches so Iâve been lucky enough to say that Iâve been on a horse. Though I canât say the same about being in full control of one.â
"Wanna try?" He asked gesturing to the horse. The edge to the question sounded a bit teasing.
âOh no, I couldnât!â You laugh putting your hands out. âI more than likely will fall off out of pure panic.â
"Afraid he'll buck?" He said, the edge in his tone playful again. "It's not too hardâ I promise." He then turned to you, with a slight smirk on his face. "Hope itâs not me that you're not scared of, are you?" He asked.
âYou? NoâŚCustard, maybe.â You glance up at the beautiful creature
"He's one of our nice horses. Never nipped at a person in his whole life. Can't say heâs never not bucked off anyone butâŚYou'll be fine." He said with a smirk. "ThatâŚand aside from a couple of scratches from his hooves when you try to get on, but trust me you'll be 100% fine. How about it? Come on- I dare you."
âDare me. How comforting.â You wince as you try to take his reins but he moves causing you to back up.Â
âWoah!â Cole says. âSeems like Custard here got agitated by your approach.â Cole himself took a step back with a slight grimace in your direction. âLooks like he really doesn't like you." He breathed out a laugh, turning his back towards you once more. At the same time, you couldn't help but see a tinge of disappointment in his eyes upon failing to coax you to try mounting the horse.
âItâs fine Cole. We can do this some other time, yeah? Itâs getting late anyway. Besides, Custard doesnât seem to enjoy being in my presence so much right now.â You gave a slight grimace.
Cole took a breath in and out but didnât turn to face you, instead took to stroking Custard before sighing quietly. "We'll see about that," He said with faint certainty as he took ahold of the reins in one hand. "You stay right there." He then turned to Custard, who seemed to calm down a little bit as Cole moved beside him, stroking his mane.
âWhat are you doing?â
"Getting him more used to you." He said with confidence, moving around the horse with a soft hand. "Donât worry, heâll forget you even reached for his reins while scared in the next couple of minutesâ he'll start loving you. I promise." He then turned back to you with another teasing smirk.
âI donât know about that...â You chuckled nervously as he walked him over to where you stood. You made a noise as Custard was only an arm's length away.
"Trust me." He said confidently as he held the reins tight. With your reluctance though, Custard only became more agitated with each step he took closer towards you. He whinnied slightly and stomped his hoof. Cole still had his eyes on you, howeverâ seeing your nervous expression.
âCole Iâm only making things worse-â You shook your head as Custard stomped his hoof again.
"Trust me..." He repeated as he continued to walk up Custard towards you whilst remaining cautious in his movements.
By this point, Custard's ears were pinned backward, and was quite vocal in his disliking of you All of a sudden, the horse turned to face you as his nostrils flared. Your heart sank as he started thrashing his head wildly.Â
âColeâŚâ You held your hands out in front of you. Your eyes widened as he dragged his hoof like he was getting reading to charge at you.
Cole's eyebrows furrowed as he gripped the reins tighter, staring at you as Custard tried to take a step forwardâ almost charging at you.
"Quit backing up. That is the worst thing you can do right nowââ He said, his tone stern.Â
Custard then proceeded to take another step forward, but this time Cole was ready as he blocked the horse's legsâ keeping him in place.
âDonât move, just stay calm.â You froze like a statue, waiting on Cole for his word.Â
He then let out a breath of relief as Custard stopped huffing towards you. He stared at you for a moment. âYou okay over there?" He asked, looking at you with genuine concern now. Custard on the other hand seemed to be calming down by the minute, turning to face Cole as he continued to pet him.
âOkay? Yeah, Iâm greatâŚother than the fact your horse just tried to charge me!â
Cole's gaze became a bit sharp at the sarcasm. He rolled his eyes. "He didn'tâ He didnât charge at you. Iâd never let that happen. Now, if you can stop being all sarcasticâ that would be great." He said in a rather blunt manner, as he then moved to face you. At this point, Custard had calmed down and was just watching you with curious eyes.
You looked down at your shoes. Feeling stupid for being scared. Maybe you read the creature's body language wrong, then again how would you know? You knew nothing about them. You hadnât meant to make Custard agitated.
"Look at him..." He said firmly, as Custard seemed to be waiting for you to just give him a chance. "See? Heâs doing nothing wrong. He just got scared by your approach, that's all." He then sighed heavily in your direction. "You wanna know how I got him to love me?âÂ
You shifted your gaze onto him. âH-How?âÂ
âBy giving him the time of day."
âReally?â You eased up.
"Yes really. I was like you. I was scared of him in the beginning. Now heâs my favorite one out of all our horses."
He moved towards you with Custard, reaching out for your hand to bring you closer to the horse. Custard immediately got a little more agitated as he stared at you.
"Lookâ He won't bite. I promise. He's just scared, like you. Just stroke his mane for a bit." He said, his voice firm and reassuring. Custard continued watching you suspiciously.
âOkay.â You nodded.
He then let your hand go and stood to the side to observe you and Custard. You hadnât even realized he walked away leaving you two alone. Custard was still looking at you with a curious stare, though that all seemed to melt away upon you finally stroking his mane. The horse then seemed to relax and started lowering his head, seeming almost grateful for the pets.
You breathe out a laugh. Then turn around to look at Cole finding him standing at a further distance from you two. He watched your eyes grow slightly. Shaking his head. âYouâre okay! Youâre doing good, just breathe.â
You continued to slowly stroke Custard's mane, as he seemed more comfortable with you now.
Slowly, he started to take a few steps in your direction, as you were finally able to reach out and stroke his side. He even seemed to enjoy it. As you moved closer, you could see that Custard was quite a fluffy friendly creature.Â
Cole continued to stand to the side, slightly amused by your initial fear as Custard continued to relax under your touch. He found himself not being able to avoid smiling but didn't want to distract you from this moment.
Custard continued to enjoy the attention with his large brown eyes locked onto you, as he lowered his head further.
Cole stared at you in mild amazement. He did not expect you to get this far with Custard considering his attempts to get you to mount the horse. Though it was pretty obvious he was impressed. After a couple of more strokes, Custard let out a happy whinny. He kept staring at you once you stopped, almost as if waiting for you to continue.
"I told youâŚHe's quite nice once you give him a chance." Cole said, stepping closer with a slight smirk.
âYouâre not so bad after allâŚâ You muttered softly to the horse. You stroked his hair. A smile adorning your lips.Â
The horse now started shifting his head, as he leaned into your handâ wanting more. Cole had walked up to you by now, giving Custard a quick stroke as he happily let out a whinny.
"There. See?" He asked, seemingly pleased with this development.
âYeah, yeah.â You rolled your eyes playfully.
He let out a low hum and leaned back, watching Custard for a second before staring at you again.
"Want to try riding him now?" He smirked.
âOh umâŚâ You look back to the horse. Then back to Cole. âYou know whatâŚyeah, I would actually.â You offer a small smile.
He nodded and walked towards Custard- holding the reigns of the horse once more.
"Just stay there. I'll get him ready." He moved Custard beside you and started fiddling with the saddle and whatnot. Custard kept watching you with curious eyes and then turned to Cole when he called his name.
You nodded back with a smile. Watching as he moved around the stables with ease.
After a few minutes, Cole had finished setting up the saddle. He then turned to you as Custard looked at you once more.
"You ready?" He asked and you would have noticed that the smirk finally left him as he took off his hat and handed it to you. He wanted to make sure you'd be comfortable riding the horse.
Custard still kept staring at you, though his eyes were no longer suspiciousâ and seemed happy to see Cole's attention now turned to help you get on him.
âYeahâŚâ You nodded. âSo do I just hold onto here?â You pointed to a spot on the saddle. He nodded and came closer to you.
"Just hold this handle here, and put one foot inside this stirrup. I'll do the rest." He said as he came right up to you and helped you up on Custard, pushing against your bottom to lift you up. He pulled on the saddle straps, and stirrups, making sure you were comfortable and safe. Once you got comfortable, he stepped back and smiled at you again.
"You ready now?" He asked again, though his voice was no longer teasing. It was reassuring.
âYeah.â He then grabbed the reins and led Custard out the barn doors and toward the training area as he watched you out of the side of his eyes. Custard, of course, seemed quite happy to have you on his back as you went out.
By now, you felt much more comfortable on Custard's back as you held his reins tightly in your hands. He continued to walk around freely, watching Cole every so often.
"You ready to speed up? Or should we take it slow?" He asked you, his eyes still locked onto you as you rode along the fence.
âSpeed up?â Your eyes widened. âWe just started Cole.â He hummed thoughtfully, as Custard seemed to be getting a little bored from walking at a pace so slow.
"We can take it faster than this for sure. I'll be beside youâ nothing will happen." He then looked at you with a reassuring expression and gave Custard a bit of a nudge. "Just take it easy with the reins, alright? All you have to do is hold them tight."
âOkayâŚokay. I can do this.â
"That's the spirit, you got this!" The horse then trotted forward a little bit faster now, as Cole watched you.
Custard breathed out, as if sighing and testing and judging your experience as a rider, digging his hoofs into the dirt, as though he was trying to indulge how you would react to him now picking up the pace.
âCole. Heâs going faster!â You exclaim.Â
He looked at you with an amused expression as Custard started trotting faster and faster. "Just hold on to the reins! It's fine." He said, his voice now being firm and certain.
Custard then suddenly picked up even more pace, going much faster as if challenging you to keep up and take control. You held tight to the reins but in the blink of a second. Panic flooded your mind.
You looked back in Cole's direction, who was still following you with a calm expression before he suddenly spoke up again- trying to guide you towards keeping up with Custard.
"Slow his pace. Just grip the reins tightly and look straightforward. Then, pull the reins back in your direction to make him slow down." He explained as Custard was going even faster.
It was too much to comprehend. Everything was happening so fast that you ended up pulling at his reins instead of gripping them.
Custard seemed to get agitated by this, almost like he could sense your fear. The horse's hooves seemed to be tapping against the ground quicker and quicker now as if you were not quite fast enough to control him. You could do nothing but hold on for dear life as Custard tried to go against the pull of his reins as fast as he could.
âWhat are you guys doing out this late?â You both turned towards the new voice that started approaching from the house. It had been Alex. Upon the distraction, your grip had loosened on the reins and Custard took this as his chance to throw you off him. You gasped as you fell backwards, your heart sank. Then nothing. Your head colliding with the ground hard first, your shoulder, then your body colliding down next, rendering you unconscious.
âCole!â Alex yelled running towards you. Having seen you get thrown off.Â
Cole was instantly startled by this whole scenario, feeling a sudden panic as he whipped his head around to the thump his ears caught. He looked to Custard who was whinnying away, dread hitting him not seeing you on his back, his face falling as soon as he saw your body on the ground. He held his breath.Â
âY-Y/n.â He called out. Upon realizing you were unresponsive his panic seemed to melt into worry and terror. He was at your side in the blink of an eye, running and falling on his knees hard against the dirt. He knelt pressing his ear against your nose, you were still breathing.Â
"A-Alex go get Mom and Dad!" Cole yelled immediately, as he tried to shake you awake, patting against your face to try and get a response from you. When he cradled your head, dread hit him when he pulled his hand away, drops of red staining his fingertips. His breathing hitched. Alex stared wide-eyed, trying to gather his head at the scene before him. When he made no move to go, Cole yelled again, his voice cracking. âAlex! G-Go get Mom and Dad! Go get Mom and Dad now! Goââ He didn't seem to hear a thing as he shook you frantically to try and wake you up. âY/nâ Iâm sorry. Iâm so sorry. Please, oh god please!â He pleaded, his vision getting blurry from the tears.Â
âH-Holy shit!â Alex tripped over his feet as he turned back around and ran for the house. Yell as loud as he could to alert his family. âMom! Dad! Dad!â Cole heard Alex hear in the distance.Â
You remained unconscious as Cole patted against your cheek. His dad and mom ran over after having been awoken by hearing their son scream bloody murder. He watched as Cole tugged you into his arms rocking you back and forth. They had only ever seen him in such a state after his football career was over.
His dad, upon approaching, looked at Cole in complete and utter horror as they both looked at your unconscious body and the horse now trotting next to you both. âShe wonât wake up. S-She wonât wake up!â Cole shook his head.Â
"What the hell happened?" George asked, looking from Cole to the horse and back to you once more. Cole started to talk, but he still seemed much more focused on you than he was talking to his dad.
"Custard threw her off, Dad. It was bad. She hit head first." Alex hurt in.Â
âOh my god!â Katherine knelt before Cole. Squeezing his shoulder as she took note of the red on his hands.Â
âWhat have I told you boys about riding at night? The horses are supposed to be in their stalls. No riding after dark, thatâs our rules, Cole you know thisâ You two were supposed to be sleeping!â His dad sighed running a hand down his face. âOkay, we gotta go. Alex, go get my keys now.âÂ
âI know. I know Dadâ She just wanted to ride him okay? Who was I to say no to her?â He laughed but it hadnât reached his eyes. âI thought I could get her used to CustardâŚâ He looked down at you in his arms. Gently caressing your cheek with the back of his hands. âThis is all my faultâŚâ
âLetâs worry about whose fault it was after we get her to the hospital, sound good? Can you pick her up?â Cole nodded in response, looking up at his dad with a solemn gaze, before looking back down at you.
Custard was being stopped by Alex, taking hold of his reins. Looking between his parents and you in Coleâs arms. Cole kept stroking your cheek, begging whoever would hear his silent plea to be able to see your eyes again.
"It was supposed to be harmless and simple..." He said quietly. "Not sure what went wrong...I don't think I've ever seen Custard do that before..."
âSweetieâŚâ Cole looked up at his mom. âWe gotta move quick with this okay, before any more serious issues come up. Letâs go get her help.â Cole held a slight frown as he agreed, he inhaled deeply before sliding his arms underneath your back and legs. With a grunt, he slowly stood up. His mom placed your dangling arm against your chest, brushing back hairs that swept your face.Â
He looked down at you thinking how you looked so peaceful as you were unconscious. Yet, something told him that you were probably having quite the nightmare right about now. He felt bad that his attempt at trying to help you overcome your horse-riding phobia had ended up like this. Though, to be honest, he hated the way it ended up like this. You werenât supposed to get hurt.Â
Cole looked up at his mother, before looking at you with what seemed to be a guilty look.Â
âCome on Cole.â She ushered him forward towards the truck his dad drove up to the front of the house. She turned towards the rest of the party now all waiting at the steps of the porch. She opened up the back door for Cole to let you two in. Danny mostly. âYouâre in charge until we get back. Make sure Alex puts Custard away alright.â He nodded, not arguing.Â
âIs she gonna die?â Lee asked. Solemn written all over his face.Â
âLetâs not think like that right now okay? Iâll call when we have more information.â Katherine sighed and shut the door behind Cole where he sat in the back with you.Â
Cole looked up at his dad through the mirror and then down at you. âPlease be okay,â Cole whispered to you. Katherine and George looked at one another solemnly as they listened to their son. âI wonât forgive myself if something happens to youâŚâÂ
It had been a long and agitated night for Cole. His dad had to keep him from bouncing his leg up and down multiple times and gave up eventually knowing he wouldnât stop.Â
It was only when the doctor called their name that his world had stopped. He had turned from the doctor and his parents, gripping his hair before he turned and began punching the wall adjacent to him. He had broken down in tears as his dad wrapped his arms around him from behind. George sank to the ground with Cole as he tried to take in the news of the state youâd be in after the serious head injury you sustained.Â
Your skull had fractured upon impact with the ground. There was a slight crack which explained the blood he found on his hand. The doctor went through the types of treatments theyâd get started on you but it was when he announced that he wanted to keep you in an induced coma to let you heal properly that made him see red. For how long thoughâŚhe didnât want to know.Â
âIâm sorryâŚIâm sorry. I'm sorry, bug. Iâm sorry..â He wept in his dad's arms. His eyes closed as he rested his head against his dad's shoulder. Katherine placed a hand over his mouth trying to compose herself, not wanting to see her baby in such a state.Â
âIf you have any further questions let me know. Thatâs all for now Iâm afraid. Iâm sorry son.â The doctor gave Cole a sheepish grin before he nodded to Katherine and George, walking off with that being said.Â
âColeââ George began, but Cole shook his head, pushing himself away from his dad.Â
âHow long am I grounded for?â He clenched his jaw.Â
âThatâs notâ Hey letâs worry about it another time, not right now.â George rested a hand on his shoulder. âYouâre in a lot of pain right nowââÂ
âPain?â Cole scoffed. âYou think Iâm in pain right nowâŚâ He smirked, flexing his jaw. âNo seriously Dad, how long am I grounded for huh? A week? Two weeks? A month? Till Y/n wakes back up? If she even wakes up?â He exclaimed.
âCole, sweetieââ Katherine went to console him but flinched when he stuck his finger out not wanting to be touched right now.Â
âHow long, Dad?â He looked through his lashes at him..Â
âIâm not doing this with you right now son.â George clenched his jaw.Â
âWhy not huh? I can see it in your eyes already. Your disappointment in me. Come on, we both know how much of a screw-up I am in this family. Tonight only proved it further. So how long Dad?âÂ
âHow long? You want to be grounded so damn much then fineâŚYouâre grounded till the next school year starts. Happy?â George let his hands slap to his sides.Â
âGeorge!âÂ
âSuper...â Cole smirked then walked back out of the hospital.Â
âCole! Cole! Where are you going?â Katherine called out to him.Â
âAnywhere but here.â He threw a peace sign out over his shoulders.Â
Katherine turned to her husbands in shock. âTill the rest of the semester?âÂ
George closed his eyes, regret hitting him instantly. âI knowâŚIâll talk to him later.â
âYeahâŚthen youâll unground him 'cause that is not what he needs right now. Okayâ he is very vulnerable right now. You know how he feels about Y/n and this will only affect him more if we donât stand by his side. Cole needs us more than ever right now. Weâre all that girl has. We promised TrinyâŚâ Katherine looked defeated. âPlease let her get through thisâŚplease get her through this.â She placed a hand against her collarbones. Muttering to herself and praying for a miracle. George pulled her into his chest, pressing soothing kisses against her temple as they stood in the hall.Â
