Still Beautiful, Still Mine

Summary: In the weeks following his visit to Amarantha’s Court Under the Mountain, Lucien is still recovering from the loss of his eye. Nuan has made him a replacement out of gold, but the scars on his face are there to stay. When Tamlin comes to see him, Lucien cannot help but relive the events that brought them to this point, if only he could focus on what's standing right in front of him.

Excerpt:

Tamlin reached out a broad hand to cup Lucien’s left cheek, but Lucien pressed his palm against Tamlin’s chest, pushing him back. “Tam. Don’t.”

Tamlin’s curled fingers brushed against the sensitive scar tissue as his hand hovered in midair. “Why not? Does it still hurt?”

“No, but…” Lucien swallowed hard, shocked to discover that his eyes were filling with tears. Both of them. “I mean… It’s just…”

Tamlin’s hand came to rest against his lower jaw, away from the sensitive scars. “What?”

“I’m not—not beautiful, anymore,” he stammered, and felt his cheeks flush with shame. The High Fae were notoriously vain, and he was no exception.

“Yes, you are.”
