Can I ask you something? I'm making a modern au fanfic and I was thinking what Athanasia would study / work and I can't think of anything. I know she likes to study, so I think it would be easy for Athy to choose one of these majors where people studies a lot (medicine, law, engineering...) but I don't know which of them best suits her personality.

I'm biased because I'm a law graduate, but hear me out, I think law really fits Athy. It's a super academically intensive career, which sounds like something she would be into. It's also very associated with power (and I guess to some extent with ruling, lots of people in positions of power are lawyers, including heads of state), which I think is the best translation of the kind of duties she fulfills as crown princess without making her literally modern royalty (I like fictional and historical royal figures, modern ones... not so much lol). Also, Athy genuinely is someone who cares a lot about things like justice and fairness, so I can see her being interested in that romantic idea of law that most first year students have (before discovering the hell they got themselves into /j). And this might be just me, but when Athy talked back to Anastasius in the empress arc, and then exposed his real colors to the nobles, that sounded just like the closing arguments of a really good prosecutor.

Dying on my hill of "even if you do have powers he's super fucking possessive over who you're choosing as a mate or even just dating" because there's layers of 1. He has his own massive ego and your actions reflect on him and anyone you bring into the family will benefit from his lineage and achievements and he's defensive about who reaps those bounties or may even be suspicious of political intentions 2. If he hypothetically does let you date he needs to pre approve them first and I'm sure you can imagine how that goes and 3. .... you're his widdle baby, can't you spend more time with dad :( shut up about finding love, why can't you crush skulls with him? She says I'm 'extremely proficient at bludgeoning'! Did I do a good job?" "You did an EXCELLENT job. It says here the boy needed medical attention." "Yeah, he had to be sent to the hospital! His legs were totally bent the wrong ways! He shouldnt have tried to steal my toy!" "Fine work; you should never allow anyone to take what is yours. We shall feast tonight in celebration." And he pet your hair and you flew up to his chest height to give him a crushing hug. And nowadays you're like. The Viltrumite equivalent of being in your early adult years and everything is extremely cold and impersonal and you call him nothing other than Grand Regent and he "maybe" just wants his eager confident prideful Affectionate child back because all he has now is. A child that hates him and will barely make eye contact with him and will never accept his praise or medals for your achievements.

Like imagine being a notoriously powerful Viltrumite and you're actually widely accepted but him being controlling of you throughout your childhood eventually gave you a complex. Thragg summons you to like praise you for like, subjugating a nearby galaxy, and asks what you would like for a reward, and you just coolly reply some shit like "There's nothing you could offer that I want, Grand Regent" like you hate him so much you don't even want gifts from this man

AND THE DELICIOUS DRAMA OF, imagine if he finds out that while you hate him and want nothing to do with him, maybe you've become extremely attached to Nolan or some other older father figure in his place

THE SHIT THAT GOES DOWN IF THRAGG EVER HEARS YOU CALL NOLAN OR ANYONE ELSE "DAD" like the cosmic level beef that goes on, the BLOODSHED. Jesus. Imagine being on Earth and you've got Dad Nolan or he's like declared himself your dad/mentor and he sees you bonding with another human male who's a father figure and you call that man dad, like. That man is going missing and Uncle Sam is erasing his existence from the records just, gone.

Side note actually, idea for something yandere viltrumites do with a viltrumite/hybrid reader: loving to bear hug you super hard? Like almost painfully but they won't break anything. Just. Imagine yandad Nolan or Thragg or Mark with like, a lil sibling/ child/ age regressed Reader or whatever and you're having like, hugging contests to see who can hug the hardest, and play wrestling shit idk. Imagine the infamously grumpy genocidal Thragg and then here's his like 4 year old wanting to play wrestle and trying to pin him and you're no match for him of course but like it's not, real, he's "gently" deflecting you or breaking your hold but still actually praising you in that, Thragg dad way, "your stance is too weak to take down an opponent of my size, but you're improving" " your siblings usually tire by now; you seem to have more endurance than most of my other children your age. Excellent" and then your little baby mouth gives him a kiss on the cheek and he has to go subjugate another planet to feel manly again.

I feel like yandad Thragg and Nolan are unironically those characters that are like, they could be in the middle of a war zone and they're easily winning and you go upstairs to see what they're thinking about, surely they're thinking about something serious, and it's just "I need to hurry this up and get back to my child" or "I wonder what my little warrior is doing right now" like straight up like the father from Father I Don't Want This Marriage

Yandere Thragg and Nolan are all "oh it's part of the Viltrum way to mate and procreate and boost our numbers" and Reader comes along "hey dad this is my new boyfriend--" and suddenly they turn into like, Christian fundamentalists. "Um actually that Viltrumite male is even older than I am 🤓 you are still so young and should be enjoying the fruits of your youth 🤓 you are too young to have children"

I feel like though like if you ever did manage to sneak off and get pregnant or get someone else pregnant that, specifically Nolan would adore his new grand baby and would do anything for this chubby cutie 🥺❤️ also imagine the horror if he's not even your blood dad, just obsessive self proclaimed stalker yandere shit, but you can't run away from him and he's finds you and your baby and instantly declares himself grandpa, like. Not super significant in my opinion, but, there's a period of time where there's like a truce of sorts between Earth and Viltrum, right, to keep it vague and less spoiler heavy. After people give birth hospitals usually give them huge pads so that they can heal without worrying about staining their clothes and bed with blood. Although I can see why they don't get those because 1) all boys school kinda makes people forget those exist 2) that would attract attention cause what do you mean a staff member at NRC is buying maternity pads monthly??? 3) Crowley probably doesn't know, and while that's mostly a good thing, it can also mean that they can't bring stuff that could tie to pregnancy on school grounds on a regular basis without some permission

Lowkey, the biology difference Period Drama brings to light can be so annoying to deal with because it always calls into question what else it effects. The reason Twist girls dont get periods is that instead of removing the lining altogether, their internal magic just refreshs it to it's former state. Which more than likely will extend to what happens after birth. And if it didnt, again, Magic. They can just heal things very easily with spells and potions in a hospital setting. So more than likely maternal pads don't exist past an actual sheet they put down for the birth that's then removed after they heal the mother up.

I made this idea for a reason based purely on the idea that periods dont happen in Twist because MAGIC. It's a lot of world building potential for a world that always had magic as an alternative to common problems plus how that would change things as an evolution standpoint.

Im guessing you're coming from the period drama romance series. But yeah they are flying blind a lot and will make their own wrong assumptions on how the period actually works. As much as Jack knows, you get your period because you aren't pregnant -> its probably to make you more likely to have children to avoid this painful process -> this is a really kinda fucked up heat.

Im not stating the things im writing in this series as facts, not until the Ignihyde part where Idia and Yuu really deep dive because Idia needs to properly update her medical file and to do so he needs to actually understand what the fuck is happening and he doesn't trust Yuu's second hand knowledge.

i don't like to get into all the bts drama and stuff that is going on on set, but it is very apparent that it weaseled its way into the show. i was never a huge jj/kiara shipper, but i did sort of get it in the earlier seasons. after this season, i feel like there was no chemistry between them at all, which is very unfortunate. either way, i know that rudy/jj was going to be leaving the show, but it was really hard for me to feel super bad when this entire season he was just completely off the rails and doing dumb shit. don't get me wrong, i think he's an important character and he's fun, but it was so much to the point that i was genuinely pissed off of him at times and felt almost out of character.

groff was evil like crazy fucking evil. there were so many parallels between groff/jj and ward/rafe, which i really wish they would've explored them, but alas, we know how that ended....

also, whenever they said groff i only thought of my number one man jonathan groff (aka special agent holden ford aka jesse st james aka kristoff aka king george iii) and kept laughing. should've named jj jonathan after his legendary bohemian rhapsody performance.

ok so i actually didn't mind sarah being pregnant, i think it added some stakes to the show and a reason for her and rafe to make amends, which leads me to my next point...

the scene where rafe and sarah sort of "made up" was probably the best scene this entire season. i think it would be interesting to explore their relationship, especially with sarah pregnant.

i felt like rafe was a bit too soft the first half of the season, but once he figured out he got screwed over, i think he really returned to form lmao. i'm still surprised he didn't die, considering after he lost sofia he really didn't have anything going for him and drew is probably gonna pop tf off in the near future, which makes me curious as to how tf they're gonna get him in the next season.

overall, i think this season is on the same level or slightly better than season 3. the first half/the half in OBX was definitely stronger (as it was for season 3), but i think the more realistic ending was a bit better. regardless, i don't like that jj died, but i know that there wasn't really any choosing that. i think the final two seasons being like pt 1 and 2 (similar to stranger things) was an interesting call to say the least, but i truly don't know what they're going to do story wise without jj and likely without much rafe.

Rarely did people witness a crime drama unfold in real life, especially not in the sleepy suburbs they called home. It was simply human nature. Punz learned that their first day on the job.

The car door of his senior closed behind him. "You get a statement from the vic. I'll interview the neighbors."

Punz nodded at him and got out their pen and note pad as they approached the ambulance. A paramedic stood in front of the victim who called the police according to the phone operator. The medic noticed his approach and politely stepped aside, revealing the last face in the world that Punz was expecting.

"Dream?"

The freckled blond glanced up. Apparently, he too was startled, brows shooting to his hairline.

"Punz? Wha-what are you doing here?"

"I'm working the case, your case."

"Oh."

"You sure you don't want a ride to the hospital, Mr. Taken?" The medic asked, hands at her hips.

"No, I'm fine. Couple Tylenol and I'll live." He waved her off dismissively, pushing himself up from the back of the ambulance. Despite that, Dream sported a black eye that limited his left vision, a busted lip, and a bandage on his right cheek. He did not look fine.

"Alright, if you're sure. You have a good night, then. Detective." After acknowledging Punz with a nod, she left their side to close the back doors and enter the cab of the vehicle.

"So, you're s'posed to take my statement now, right?" Dream spoke, returning Punz's attention to him.

"Right, right." He clicked his pen, ready to write when a question popped up. "You been through this before?"

The taller merely gave a tired smile in response.

"Sorry. Um, anyway, tell me what happened."

Dream took a breath, pulling his blanket tighter around his shoulders. "He was angry ever since he got home from work, around 6:30. I made dinner like I always do. That went okay. Then later, maybe 8 o'clock, he's watching the game. I'm in the kitchen and he wants a beer, but there aren't any. I forgot to pick them up earlier. And he... he just explodes. He punches me, knocks me to the floor, and just," a shuddering inhale interrupted him and he paused. His eyes closed, but Punz could see the tears beginning to gather on his lashes.

"Take your time, Dream. You're doing really well." They reach out to comfort him, but decide against it. The last thing he wanted was to scare him.

Once he calmed, wiping the unshed tears away, he continued, "He just kicks me while I'm down and keeps kicking me. I can't do anything but try to protect myself. He stopped after awhile, got bored I guess when I didn't fight back. He left to get the beer. I... I just had enough. I couldn't live like that anymore. So, I locked myself in the bathroom and called the police. Stayed there 'til they arrived."

"When was that?"

"I called at 8:22, took 'em almost 20 minutes to get here because I wasn't in 'immediate danger,' so like, 8:40, I guess."

just now realising you asked this nearly a month ago i'm so sorry i don't know why i struggle with answering asks so much!! but anyways evan headcanons i will GLADLY give. my characterisation of him is less concrete than characters like barty or regulus but i think about him loads still i love him...

this is a classic ofc but i will always see him and pandora as twins!! i love siblings in media so much and i think it allows for suuupper interesting dynamics between them, even in canon

in muggle aus my go-to career for him is either a piercer or something in the medical science field. i can just picture him as this mildly off-putting medsci student who goes on to be a forensic pathologist or something, he's really intrigued by the human body and how it functions in various ways. could definitely also go the way of unlicensed surgeon or mad scientist who performs fucked up experiments on people but that sort of thing doesn't quite fit into every fic lmaoo

i've always thought of him as more of a piercings guy than a tattoo guy (which is the opposite to barty). he'd definitely have both but i associate him more with piercings if that makes sense? i imagine he'd have a labret, bridge, stretched lobes (~7/8"), stretched septum (~0g), eyebrows (normal and middle placements), and high nostrils. all symmetrical!! plus probably some other non-facial piercings

he'd love sci-fi, thriller, and horror (especially psychological) films. anything super tense and probably confusing

when he was a child he and pandora would trap and kill insects. they'd spend ages examining little bug bodies and dissecting them with sticks and stuff... as he grew older he became more and more interested in bigger animals. occasionally he would kill animals himself but more often he'd search for those already dead, especially roadkill. once he was finished with any given specimen he'd carefully remove, clean, and reconstruct their skeletons to give to pandora. she didn't like the organs stuff as much as he did but she loved collecting bones and taxidermy insects, in exchange one year for his birthday (10-14th, maybe) she spent ages searching to buy him a surgical set from an antique store

waaay scarier than barty. if you don't know them you might be more initially scared by barty but while barty is loud and crazy and violent and laughs at pain/danger, evan is creepy. he knows way a million and one ways to kill someone without leaving behind any evidence. he knows every single pressure point on the human body. someone mentions a medicine they've taken their whole life for the first time and when someone else asks what it is he can explain in minute detail exactly how it works to the point where not even the person who takes it knew even half of what he says. he's super quiet moving without even meaning to be so he scares the shit out of people all the time. he doesn't blink as often as he should but just often enough that you don't notice until you're paying attention. and this is all revealed gradually, whereas barty's most "scary" traits are purposefully the most surface level things about him

he loooves medical dramas. he's watched tons of them. he HATES the good doctor though, purely on principle because once someone said that must be his favourite because he's autistic. his actual favourite is house

he runs cold and NEVER wears shorts. lots of beanies and jackets

Ghost Doctor - 8/10

A thoroughly enjoyable medical drama ~with a twist~. The twist here being ghosts, lmao. A senior cardiothoracic surgeon, Cha Young-min (played by Rain!), is involved in a car accident and ends up in a coma. In the universe of this show, people in comas exist in between life and death as spirits/ghosts that hang out in the hospital. A first year resident doctor, Koh Seung-tak (played by Kim Bum!) who is also the grandson of the hospital's chairman is able to see ghosts and Young-min is able to possess his body. Hijinks ensue. And also like surgeries. lol

What really sells this drama is the way that Rain and Kim Bum play off each other. Their characters have amazing older brother/younger brother chemistry. And like, as the two main characters, their character arcs are REALLY well done. Young-min had forgotten about the humanity of his patients but his experience as a coma ghost reminds him why he became a doctor in the first place. Seung-tak processes the trauma of seeing his dad die when he was a kid and works through his issues regarding like... actually performing surgery. Because at the start of the show he doesn't even know how to hold a scalpel since he's avoided all surgery in his career thus far.

The weakest part of the show is probably the romance, tbh. Young-min's ex-girlfriend, a neurologist, who moved to America 12 years ago comes back into his life right before the accident so like obviously she takes over his case. I think the reason the romance falls flat is while Young-min is able to see Se-jin and realize how wrong he was about why she left, for most of the series she's completely unaware. So like idk there's just a disconnect between them for the majority of the series and they're working through their feelings for each other without any kind of direct communication and so it just doesn't work for me.

I don't know if the show has a ton of rewatch value for me which is why it's an 8/10 instead of higher but I really enjoyed the entire viewing experience. In terms of medical dramas, I think only Hospital Playlist comes close to being as good. The comedy and characters and medical cases all blend together really well.

tbh i am also behind but i keep up with spoilers and episode recaps for everything i am watching bc i don't really care about getting spoiled. with that being said, where do i even begin? i would have loved if the show ended on a melodrama note in the second half, with the hong family having lost queens group but recouping that through baekhong's work as a lawyer and ceo respectively and with them rekindling their relationship (without marriage or another kid) while hae-in would, well, die due to some bout of medical realism that has to remain here, but with the two of them choosing each other in their lifetime, roll credits, fin. i am putting a read more from here on in bc this is sort of my thoughts on the show in general but also the second half, since describing the second half doesn't really work without talking about the set-up of the plot. plots? whatever is happening here. (also! spoilers ahead!)

of course we did not get a well-polished plot, something as sensible as this couldn't fly with the deranged fans this drama spawned like you wouldn't believe. so in a way this fanbase deserved exactly what they got lmao. this show has been crazy from the beginning bc as much as i love hae-in, people kept acting like she didn't treat hyun-woo like shit for most of their marriage when she did. he was only marginally better off, but my one big issue was that hyun-woo has to apolgize for everything he ever did, for wanting to divorce in the first place, while the show depicted right away how awful his marriage was. so now in the second half we, of course, get hyun-woo doing everything for hae-in to make up for all his audacity, like the good kdrama male lead he is (where is moon gang-tae when we need him? kim soo-hyun can act with some fire in there, so why does he not?) hae-in keeps getting worse and he is by her side, so whoo for tha ti guess and she does apologize for how she treated him after 10 eps of grovelling lmao. anyways.

they grow closer again while hae-in stays in the hospital for her treatment, but in comes mister i-still-want-to-be-cooked-over-an-open-fire-like-a-rotissiere-chicken eun-sung. i do have to say i love park sung-hoon in this drama? not as good as the psychotic bully-slash-killer-slash-second-woman he plays in the glory, but really good. it's giving kendall roy in sucession s2! it's giving this is why rich people tax middle class families until tax evasion or murder become lifestyle choices for those families! it's giving the rite of passage creepy high school boyfriend straight women go through amped up to the max! he is so good at being evil and he shines here, somehow, in all his creepy despondency and obsession with hae-in. at one point he swipes in and tells hae-in, who is losing her memory, that he saved her life and then he does it again, using the times hyun-woo's saved her as his cover story. he keeps rocking brown three-piece suits and a crazy-good blowout and side swoop while he does that, which might be the worst thing. hyun-woo punches him in the face, which is the saving grace of this entire second half of the show. he runs over hyun-woo with a car in the PENULTIMATE episode for the hell of it, because he can't see hyun-woo and hae-in be together again. the man is batshit insane and he stands by it.

as for the plot:

the head of the hong family (hae-in's grandfather) has a slush fund, because that is the second most realistic part of the show. eun-sung and his mother scrounge around to find it to take the rest of queens group, but well, i honestly don't care much about this plot. yang-gi (hyun-woo's best friend and divorce lawyer, who is apparently barred twice over in korea and can also hold up with business law and attorney work in court lol) helps lower hyun-woo's crazy ass charges, so he lives to see another day while everyone is looking for the goddamn slush fund. eun-sung and his mother found it first btw. hae-in keeps mistaking eun-sung for hyun-woo, her memory loss gets worse, we get it. several people working for eun-sung keep trying to kill hyun-woo over the span of the last five episodes. we get another reborn rich cameo from kim shin-rok, which at this point is the only thing keeping me from tuning out of this whacky ass drama. the hong family grandfather kills himself and all of kdrama twt and mdl are mad that the raised rating wasn't an explicit scene between baekhong but seeing an old man die (i kid you not). they keep trying to convince me kim soo-hyun was in the marine corps and i keep not believing it. german hospitals apparently can do life-saving surgeries on non-german citizens, which is unheard off in this neck of the woods but alas. hae-in has to trade in her memories to have that surgery, so that is our 11 o clock moment. or something. hyun-woo gets arrested by interpol right after, so there goes that dream. soo-cheol ends up with his wife again, which i care about as much as a tree cares about a leaf falling in a forest. big yawn. hyun-woo employs yang-gi again to beat the interpol charges and they do (yippie!). eun-sung keep acting like he's hae-in's husband after her memories disappeared and all of us know it's so deeply joever but the death bell has yet to strike. in comes the car crash bc we go two for two on car crashes in this show. eun-sung is now, after 15 episodes of washed up nonsense, pursued by the police bc nothing screams real crime like vehicular manslaughter in a kdrama. tried and true to the very end he goes!

haven't checked into ep 16 yet, but i know it ends with a montage of hae-in and hyun-woo together for more years, marrying again and having a child, and then hae-in dies. hyun-woo as an old man visits her grave in germany (potsdam doesn't allow graves on the grounds of sansoucie so i wonder where they supposedly put it?) and then we get a fade in of young hae-in leading now-deceased and young again hyun-woo to heaven in a field of lavender, goblin style minus the good writing. hyun-woo kept apologising for things until the end but don't ask me what it was about, i stopped caring. i assume that eun-sung lands in jail or something for his five billion crimes and all the times he wore light blue ties in this show. fin.

Hello :) I've recently been questioning if I'm (we're? I keep like, almost compulsively wanting to use we/us to refer to myself lately lol) a system and I figured I'd share my thoughts here lol, your blog seems very welcoming and syscourse kind of scares me tbh lmao :) But basically to start with, I absolutely have the kind of trauma that tends to form traumagenic systems along with lots of memory weirdness bc of it- I didn't really remember the trauma at all until about 4 years ago and it almost kind of feels like me before that and me after that are two completely different people? And I don't really have the full amnesia blackouts associated with DID but my memory does tend to be really vague and fuzzy a lot of the time and I can't even remember the last time I felt like I had a consistent and solid sense of self.

I'm also fictionkin which I discovered several months ago, with most of my kins being complete with very clear memories, genders & orientations, pronouns etc. and I get really strong kinshifts at times too, but sometimes it also feels almost like they have a mind of their own and at times it's like I can feel their presence at the back of my mind. Sometimes I hear their voices in my head too but it's hard to tell if that's just me imagining them or not lol :) There's also one that's a character I was obsessed with in my childhood that's a little different bc they almost feel like a mix of that character and also me from that time period?

And even more recently I experienced something very similar to my usual kinshifts(?) except it wasn't a kin at all- it was like a different version of me with a different name and also extremely agender unlike my usual genderfluid xenogender hoarding self lmao :) If that really was an alter they were really cool and I love them lol <3

when i initially read the manga (+watched the anime), it was something i liked, but felt like there was just something lacking that prevented me from truly loving it. then i started reading the novel and it filled in all those lacking spots as well as fixing some issues i had and now it's easily my favorite version (even without having read all of it) and i really really love shiki in general.

EDIT: i forgot to link to the fantranslation!! it's incomplete, but they've gotten a good way into the book. (~78%) start reading from here, and make sure to read the cultural/translation notes between chapters! they're pretty important for this particular narrative

for shiki fans who don't know anything about the novel, here's some interesting differences.

most of them stem largely from the shift in target demographic. the original novel is pretty obviously for an adult audience, while the shiki manga was published in a shonen magazine. to facilitate that, they upgraded natsuno's role from a side character to protagonist.

while also being for age reasons, i'm pretty sure it was a decision also made to narrow the scope (for at least the beginning of the story). the novel is Very much an ensemble piece, with the first chapter alone having 8 different pov characters. it's to the point where singling out a protagonist is more of a matter of figuring out"who has the most pov chapters" and "who is most central to the narrative" than an obvious answer. i'd be most confident in saying that seishin is the protagonist (with toshio as the next closest to it).

it's a lot easier to get teens hooked on the smaller but more active natsuno+other kids drama plot, as opposed to in-his-30's seishin and 1 million various other normal people who live in the town gossiping about how so-and-so saw a car coming towards sotoba suddenly stop and turn back around before it got there lmao.

if you couldn't tell already, the novel is extremely slow-paced and mundane. up until page 545 (out of 1,271) when toshio has that conversation with natsuno and first begins to consider the possibilities of vampires, there is no overt signal to the reader that anything supernatural is occurring. it's largely a medical mystery, with some overall ominous feeling and the occasional character feeling like someone's watching them, natsuno realizing someone picked up some of the fragments of the letter he shredded.

for context, that same scene where the doctor realizes its vampires occurs about 43% into the book, while in the anime it's 20%. people who found the anime/manga too slow paced would NOT be able to handle the novel haha

and let me be clear, i fucking love that about it. the extremely grounded tone (and lack of those crazy character designs) suits the story sooooo well, and it benefits from taking all that time getting to know the village (even if it was really difficult to keep track of who was who). everyone feels very... real. people you can easily see being your neighbors irl, in the best ways and the worst. while still being clearly sympathetic, it also establishes how the cruelty that ensues from the humans in the ending came from flaws they had long before the shiki ever came.

i ended up just talking about shiki so i forgot the fun facts lmao

natsuno never becomes a shiki, he just dies.

akira also dies, as there is no natsuno to save him.

the novel opens with a prologue showing the ending, the pov of a fire fighter driving to deal with the fire consuming sotoba, who sees a man (seishin) driving away from the town with a coffin in his car's truck bed

tohru's a bit older, more firmly an adult and cool older brother kind of best friend

the kirishiki mansion itself has more of a presence (makes sense, considering the novel is intended to be a play on stephen king's salem's lot)

i don't htink this bit has been translated yet, but i do know the lore explanation for werewolves: if you have parents who are both genetically predisposed to rising as shiki, their child would be genetically predisposed to rising as a werewolf

when seishin arrives at the hospital and finds out about toshio's experimentation+killing of kyoko, he doesn't immediately leave. he initially helps him clean up, and only starts objecting once the conversation uncovers the fact that toshio doesn't view what he did as murder. in fact, it didn't even occur to him. they have an argument about it, with seishin unable to accept toshio's desire to kill the shiki when it is done with the intent of exterminating an existence because it's "unnatural", and toshio unable to accept seishin's inaction, as his refusal to fight the shiki means condemning the village to its death. and so they part, unable to deny the truth in the others' accusations.

And I'm sure they can be, but it definitely changed my reference for sickfics, like... idk how to describe it... not that I'm going to change how I write sickfics, because I write for my own pleasure first and foremost and I like what and how I write. But I also like to know the rules or the reality, so to speak. And I just wasn't aware of how. Not-debilitating fevers could be as well.

Am I making any fucking sense lmao like I was aware there was a spectrum, I just wasn't aware of how far one end of the spectrum went. Like even when my temp was 103, if I could have physically gotten to my place of work, I have no doubts about my ability to have done my job. May/December Romance: I thought this shit was the bees knees until I dated someone 20 years older than me and it ummm didn't work out. Anyway, I tend to actually ignore the trope these days. I either like character interactions or I don't; age gaps are fine if they happen to be there but I don't lean on or otherwise seek out that trope as a general rule...and even when the age gap is present I tend to not lean on it overmuch, except in situations where it might actually end up mattering (aging, for example).

Met in an MMO: Since I did meet my old raid & heal lead from World of Warcraft in person TWICE (it was super fun), I have to say this trope would be A BLAST to write and to read, were it catered very specifically to me as a person. I've even been tempted to write it just because so many guilds in WoW used to meet up and get together for events and stuff!! Like I'm sorry but there's something SO funny about Lloyd as a dual wield fury warrior zug zug brain and Raine on comms constantly criticizing him for not watching threat, and then Genis posting meters ONLY when he's on top while Zelos begs people to give him time to sunder and Colette says "that was a good attempt guys, we'll do better next time!" even though they asses wiped at like 40% 😭. Regal and Raine in silent competition to top healing meters 24/7. Lloyd uses the MMO to bond with Kratos? Dirk is there too. Zelos is the worst ret paladin in the world OR the worst rogue (I can't choose) but he has 20 custom emotes he made (that he puts on his fucking bars) to hit on people who play female characters in-game. Sheena race changed to a male character and will never brez Zelos no matter how much he begs. ✌ Presea plays with them for like 3 years and never speaks in voice comms. Guild fucking drama??? PLEASE.

Hanahaki: This trope is very much not for me and I don't really understand the appeal of it on a general level. It's like a terminal illness 'fic but without the medical knowledge being necessary, maybe? I guess I can see the appeal there.

I'd never write this myself, but I've read it a couple of times and I do really appreciate writers who take the time to write a unique twist on this trope, because I think it really adds something to the idea of it and makes it fun to engage in. Definitely not the kind of thing I seek out, though.
