❛ @bedlamology said . . . “ghost…?” when she spots his form cowered on the floor her first thought is to panic. for all she knew he was hurt again, or worse. “are you okay? what wrong?” as she drops down in front of him a flash of light illuminates the sky. seconds later a loud BANG shakes the apartment and she watches as the man before her trembles. “oh ghostie���” reaching out she cups her hands around his ears before pulling him into her chest. “try to focus on the sound of my heart. I’ll hold you till the storm is over…” ❜

𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄'𝐒 𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐘 𝐅𝐈𝐗. some headphones and a playlist are usually enough to drown out the noise. but stupidly he'd left his earbuds at home and currently he was staying the night at harlow's place. he'd sequestered himself in her bedroom, hoping that he could walk himself through it without her knowledge. harlow seeing him like this is the last thing he wants. but if he just up and left she'd ask questions, she'd worry and that's something he doesn't want either. sliding down the wall his hands come up to cover his ears. more than once he'd tried to remedy this flaw, to somehow shake him out of this irrational fear but no matter what he did his body reacted. a racing heart, sweaty palms and frantic eyes.

some time passes before harlow seems to let her curiosity get the better of her and at this point ghost is a lump on the floor. eyes shut tight and ears covered he hadn't seen her walk in nor noticed when she crouched down. but suddenly his senses kick in and eyes open, wide and fearful. it didn't seem to suit him as ghost was usually put together even at the worst of times. and anger seethes through his body, hating this. hating that she is seeing him in such a vulnerable state.

but it doesn't seem to deter her, instead tugging him close until his head is resting against her chest. it's the first time anyone had been there for one of these spells and ghost isn't sure how to react. he stiffens in her arms, fingers moving to curl around her shirt. the man who had protected her was now a shriveling mess in her arms. pathetic. turning his face he hides in her shirt, shaking again as a loud bang rumbles through the apartment. ghost prays to whatever god is listening that she doesn't ask about this tomorrow, that maybe they can just pretend it never happened. but his heart does calm, finding some comfort from harlow's presence. hopefully after tonight she wouldn't write him off as a loser completely.

It’s been on my mind lately that I had a lot of these Spotify song requests that I finished and never got around to posting, so I’m gonna try to chip away at posting these over the next few weeks! BUT Hi Ghost :] It’s so funny this was the song you ended up getting the number for; I had actually listened to it on loop during the deepest trenches of ranchers brainrot however many months ago, so I’m really happy I ended up being able to draw something for them!! <3 This is also the part where I expose myself for being an unashamed band kid =w= Grainger’s one of my favorite composers, so I listen to his works a lot and couldn’t help associating the really soft hopeful horns with this kind of healing period for the ranchers ;w;

I probably won’t ever really go into the details of the m-1 server’s overall plot, but I think the general vibe for m-1 ranchers is that these little moments of soft sunlight and healing bones were some of the most needed for them, so that’s why scenes like this always stand out in my mind <3 Context aside though, I think m-1 ranchers are just super sweet so!! figured I’d Full-Send share this soft doodle of them :]
