scum villain fairytale AU where every night, the beautiful yet cruel peak lord Shen Qingqiu transforms from his regal self into modern nerd Shen Yuan (complete with physical and wardrobe changes).

to keep the secret of his transformations, Shen Qingqiu has taken to locking himself up at night. so every night for the past few weeks, Shen Yuan has awakened to find himself chained and kept prisoner in the bamboo house. since he can't ask anyone, he has no idea that he turns back into someone else come morning, he just thinks he's being drugged or something and that this is his entire transmigration experience -- a prisoner of someone he never sees or interacts with, presumably being fed and bathed while he's unconscious somehow since he hasn't died and doesn't stink, who also hasn't seen sunlight since all of this began.

anyway one day Shen Qingqiu gets distracted and doesn't do the chains up properly (qi deviation issues most likely), and Shen Yuan manages to escape just before dawn. he doesn't completely get away because Shen Qingqiu did set up a last ditch imprisonment array that teleports Shen Yuan back into the house before he can leave the property line, but he gets outside and he calls for help.

disciple Luo Binghe (out early because he got sent to do nine million chores all night and didn't sleep to begin with) sees this thin and obviously frightened young man (in chains!) break out of his master's house and plea for assistance, only to be swallowed up by what looks like some kind of sinister magical effect and vanish.

curiosity piqued, the next night, Luo Binghe masters some of his fear of his harsh shizun and sneaks over to the bamboo house. it takes a few nights more for him to actually work up the nerve to actually peek into one of the windows.

to his astonishment, he sees the young man obviously being held captive inside. what's going on? is it a demon? but then, why would Shen Qingqiu hold him captive instead of just killing him? Luo Binghe is still barely young enough to want to give his cruel master some benefit of the doubt, out of hope for his own prospects if nothing else, but this seems pretty fucked up. especially since the chained man is so pretty, and so scantily clad (shorts and t-shirt)...

anyway, Shen Yuan notices Binghe and starts calling out to him for help. but this frightens Luo Binghe off, because he doesn't know that Shen Qingqiu won't hear and come running. he feels badly though and eventually does go back, and after Shen Yuan assures him that no matter how he screams or begs for help he's sure no one will come (until Binghe, no one ever has), Luo Binghe cautiously stays put and starts talking to him. after a while the young disciple can only conclude that his master must be going down the mountain to spend his nights at the brothels. no one has seen him leave for such trips in months, but he must have discovered a way to do so more secretively.

Shen Yuan has figured out since long ago that he transmigrated, although he doesn't know the setting, so he knows he can't entirely explain his situation to this random teenager. he also knows that there's a chance -- though it seems remote -- that the boy has something to do with his captivity, and isn't just the innocent bystander he seems to be. but with little to loose he's more inclined to trust and hope that this might give him an opportunity to escape.

meanwhile Luo Binghe is still cautious that this strange man might be a demon of some kind, or a trap or test on Shen Qingqiu's part, so he doesn't give his real name or tell Shen Yuan anything about the sect. gradually he becomes convinced of Shen Yuan's sincerity, even though he still doesn't dare go against Shen Qingqiu or actually set foot inside the house.

time passes, and Luo Binghe's visits become more regular. despite the lack of rescue, even just having someone to talk to is such a massive improvement that Shen Yuan doesn't complain. before long he gets the impression that this boy's situation isn't even much better than his own, as he is constantly sporting some bruise or visible injury or another, and offhandedly describes a lot of treatment that sounds frankly horrific as if he thinks it's simply normal. he figures he's in a cultivation setting and some kind of sect, though, and after a while he begins imparting tips and tricks and whatever he can think of to fill the silence with his mystery visitor.

this is eventually how he figures out that he's trapped in the world of PIDW, even if he doesn't quite figure out where or who with yet. because Luo Binghe describes some aspects of cultivation that would only apply to that hack job the author made of cultivation systems. which is a good thing because it lets Shen Yuan offer more specific advice, and also begin to try and make plans.

if he's imprisoned by cultivators, then one day Luo Binghe will probably arrive as part of his eradication of the sects. maybe Shen Yuan can beg mercy from him?

this becomes such an important fantasy that Shen Yuan begins to describe it to his little visitor, playing it off that he sometimes gets "visions" (and trying to help the poor kid some more, given that both of them are in danger in a stallion novel where no man is liable to live long in the protagonist's orbit).

at first Luo Binghe thinks that Shen Yuan has somehow figured out who he is, when the man begins to tell him stories of some great person of destiny who has the same name as him. but by then he's hooked so even though it's risky, he still keeps going back to the bamboo house at night, and after a few weeks he concludes that Shen Yuan really doesn't seem to realize that the name of his imagined demon emperor has anything to do with his visitor. he even describes Luo Binghe's own background and troubles to him, but offhandedly, as if he is just picking up loose details about someone else from a story or dream. even when Shen Yuan observes that the Luo Binghe of his stories has some similarities to the Luo Binghe outside the window, his does this in such a way that it just seems to emphasize that he has no idea that these "visions" he's started having are connected to his visitor. or that the villain Shen Qingqiu he describes is in fact his captor.

Luo Binghe guesses that these visions might be the reason Shen Qingqiu has locked Shen Yuan away. perhaps he is some kind of magical creature, if not a demon, and cultivators can benefit from stealing energy or blood or... other unsavory things from him, although Luo Binghe doesn't think Shen Yuan's predictions sound very accurate. he's still trying to figure it out when, in fact, one of those predictions comes true.

Shen Qingqiu declares that he's going into seclusion, and disappears into the lingxi caves. with him he takes a large box (big enough to hold a man and with vents on the sides), that he moves and handles himself, even though secluded cultivation doesn't usually call for a lot of luggage. from the box, just faintly, Luo Binghe imagines he hears the clink of chains. (Shen Qingqiu plans to lock himself into it every night.)

that night, when Luo Binghe goes to the bamboo house, he finds it completely empty. it's empty again the next night, too, no matter which windows he approaches. as the nights drag on he even grows bold enough to break into the bamboo house, but there's nobody inside.

Shen Qingqiu must have taken his prisoner with him into the caves. Luo Binghe cannot think of a reason to do that which is not nefarious, and he struggles to sleep each night, imagining terrible things that his cruel master could be doing to Shen Yuan as part of his efforts to improve his own cultivation. he can only pray that none of it proves fatal.

being locked in a box at night is pretty bad, but luckily one of the corners was kind of shoddily made, so Shen Yuan manages to get out of it after the second night. he's still chained and he can't leave the circle of an array Shen Qingqiu set up, but the cave is at least a change of scenery. Shen Yuan even feels inspired to attempt some cultivating of his own, although he worries that he's been moved to this weird place because someone caught his little visitor coming to the window, and he hopes that if so, no one has punished the boy (he knows that's a slim hope, given the kind of micro infractions his visitor has apparently been beaten over).

of course, there's a rampaging Liu Qingge qi deviating in the caves, so Shen Yuan gets to deal with that. Liu Qingge thinks he's having some kind of lingering fever dream when he gets rescued by some weird pervert at night, only to come to his senses and find he's being berated by a wild-eyed Shen Qingqiu instead.

Shen Qingqiu is not happy that Liu Qingge's rampage put him in proximity with his incredibly pathetic werewolf curse, the only relief is that the idiot seemed to be too out-of-his head from a qi deviation to remember most of it. and also apparently his "other self" saved the man's life, which Shen Qingqiu is just going to attribute to dumb luck. Shen Qingqiu is 100% convinced that this curse he's under is designed to get him killed or disgraced.

meanwhile, despite his fears about Shen Yuan's state, Luo Binghe does remember that the man told him about a demon attack that followed Shen Qingqiu going into seclusion. he's not sure what to expect, but somehow he isn't as surprised as he should be when Sha Hualing and her goon squad turn up. he is grimly terrified when the fighting tournament starts, and he sees the demon who matches the description of the one he's meant to fight and he can't imagine that working out in his favor... but Shen Yuan was perfectly adamant that despite the difficulty, Luo Binghe would win.

if he wins, does that mean the rest of it comes true? that Luo Binghe is a half heavenly demon, that he will one day become the strongest person alive, emperor of the three realms and owner of the largest harem ever to exist? the one person Shen Yuan seems to think might rescue him from his prison?

the idea of it (well, some of it) gets Luo Binghe through his fight. and then of course Meng Mo shows up, and Shen Yuan is pulled into the subsequent dream and figures out who is "mysterious visitor" really is and is kind of like, oh shit I gave Luo Binghe spoilers about his own destiny. shit. well. done is done...?

Luo Binghe is alright with most of it though. the Abyss sounds deeply unpleasant and he doesn't actually want any wives (so many nights spying on Shen Yuan lounging around in barely nothing and some chains have definitely led to some epiphanies on his part), but if Shen Yuan says he can survive it, he believes him.

and then he will rescue Shen Yuan. after the Abyss he's also completely sold on ruining and killing Shen Qingqiu too. there are no downsides and this plan cannot possibly go awry!

It was the morning of the Dutch Grand Prix. You were standing in front of your daughter’s suitcase as you showed her the outfits you packed, none of which Emily agreed to wear.

“But look, chérie, this is such a pretty dress”, you said hoping that your daughter would finally agree to wear something.

“No. It is not. I want the one Uncle Charles gave me!”, your daughter pouted.

Sadly you knew that Em was stubborn. She wouldn’t just agree to wear something she didn’t want to.

“I don’t have Charles dress here… Please. Just wear one of these dresses… Or do you want to wear a jeans? With one of the shirts Papa got for you?”, you asked again, praying Emily would agree to the tiny Red Bull shirts Max got her just a few days ago.

The five-year-old scrunched her nose as she thought about it before agreeing.

“Ok. But I want pretty hair”, she said as she looked up at you.

“A braid?”, you asked as you pulled out the little jeans and Red Bull shirt for your daughter.

Emily nodded. “The pretty braid you always do. The not-just-on-the-bottom-braid.”

“You mean a French Braid?”, you asked while helping your daughter in the shirt.

“Yes. The magic braid that doesn’t look ugly after I run very fast.”

You just nodded as you grabbed the comb from the suitcase and tried to gently detangle your daughter’s curls. Methodically, you parted her hair and placed one strand over another while you listened to Emily rambling about how Uncle Charles promised her that Alex would bring Leo with her and Uncle Arthur had promised her to bring her chocolate to the track.

“And Uncle Charlie said he will give me an own car so I can drive around alone-“

“Charles said what?”, you asked shocked. “A car?”

“Yes, a car. A red one. Like his car”, Emily said dead serious.  

You just stared at her through the mirror, deciding that you’ll have to talk to Charles about that… car for your five year old daughter.

You finished the braid by wrapping a small elastic around the hair.

“Such a pretty girl”, you said smiling which made Emily giggle.

“You are pretty, too, Maman”, Em said and you had to admit, not even a compliment of Max could compare to your daughter complimenting you.

“Thank you, chérie. Now, let’s go. Papa is probably already waiting for us.”

“YES! Can I show him my hair then?!”, Emily said excitedly.

“Of course you can. Can we leave now? Is your outfit good? Braids don’t hurt?”, you asked praying that everything would be good so they could finally leave.

Emily thought for a moment but nodded eventually, making you sigh in relief.

“Amazing. Then get your backpack, chérie.”

Only half an hour later they arrived at the paddock and as soon as Em saw Max she started running towards him.

“PAPA! Look at my pretty hair. Maman did a braid! The magic braid!” The five-year-old turned her head so Max could look at her hair.

“Wow! Such a pretty braid, Em!”, Max exclaimed before he looked closer.

“Liefje, this”, he looked at you while pointing at the braid, “is a French Braid…”

You looked absolutely confused. “Yes? It is the one your daughter requested after not wanting to wear anything…? Is there a problem?”

Max now looked like he might start crying. Seriously, it was the exactly same face, as Emily’s before she throws a tantrum.

“We are at the Dutch Grand Prix! She… she cannot have a French Braid! We… we are Dutch! My baby girl is Dutch!”

You looked up in the sky, pinching the bridge of your nose, while telling yourself it wouldn’t be worth it to start yelling now. After the drama with Emily not wanting to wear anything, your nerves were already used up.

“Mon cœur. I really really love you. But a damn French Braid does not mean she isn’t Dutch anymore…”

Max pouted. “But-“

“No!”, you exclaimed before you could stop yourself. “Max. Next time I will gladly let you braid her hair but today, please just accept that she has a French Braid. Ok?”

Max still looked sad but nodded. “I guess your Maman chose France over the Netherlands”, he whispered in Emily’s ear.

“But Maman is from Monaco”, his daughter said confused.

“Close enough”, Max sighed. “Tomorrow, when it is race day, I will braid your hair, ok? And we will choose a pretty dress.”

The Dolby Theatre buzzes with anticipation as you sit between Charles and your co-star. This scene is familiar - the sixth time you've been nominated, the same butterfly-inducing wait during the Best Actress category. Your first nomination came when you were just twenty-three, and now at thirty, you've earned the title of 'most nominated actress without a win.'

Charles has been there for four of those nominations, watching you smile gracefully through each loss. You remember how devastated he was last year - more than you, even - when you lost for what critics had called 'the performance of the decade.' He'd held you all night, whispering about how the Academy didn't deserve you anyway.

Tonight, though, feels different. Maybe it's the way Charles keeps pressing soft kisses to your temple, or how he hasn't stopped playing with your wedding ring - a nervous habit he picked up during particularly tense races.

"Mon coeur," he whispers as the Best Actor category wraps up, "no matter what happens, you're already the winner in my eyes. But tonight... tonight feels like magic, no?"

You're gripping Charles's hand so tightly you might be cutting off his circulation, but he doesn't seem to mind. Your heart is pounding as Emma Stone opens the envelope on stage, the same way it has during the previous ceremonies where you'd left empty-handed despite the nominations.

Charles leans closer, his lips brushing your ear. "I'm proud of you, no matter what happens," he whispers, his thumb stroking soothing circles on your hand.

"And the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role goes to..."

Charles's grip tightens imperceptibly. You feel him holding his breath alongside you.

"YN!"

For a moment, you're frozen. The applause sounds distant, like you're underwater. Then you feel Charles's hands on your face, see his beaming smile through your blur of tears.

"You did it, mon coeur!" he exclaims, his own eyes glistening as he pulls you into a kiss. "You finally did it!"

You're trembling as you stand, Charles helping you up. He's looking at you the way he does after winning a race - no, even more intensely than that. Like you've just won every championship in existence.

The walk to the stage feels surreal. You can hear the announcement echoing: "This is YN's sixth nomination and first win..." Through your tears, you see the standing ovation, catch glimpses of familiar faces who've been on this journey with you.

Your hands shake as you accept the Oscar, its weight both foreign and familiar after years of dreaming about this moment. You take a deep breath, looking out at the sea of faces until you find those green eyes that have been your anchor through every high and low.

"Wow," you begin, your voice trembling. "They say sixth time's the charm, right?" The audience laughs warmly. "I've had this speech written in my head since I was a little girl playing pretend with my mom's hairbrush, but now that I'm here, those words don't seem enough."

You pause, gathering yourself. "To the Academy - thank you for not giving up on me. To my incredible director who trusted me with this role that scared me as much as it thrilled me. To my amazing co-stars who pushed me to dig deeper, be braver."

Your eyes find Charles again, who's watching you with such pure adoration it makes your heart swell. "To my husband, who has sat through more award shows than F1 races this year so far, who runs lines with me even though he says my accent is better than his, who believes in me more than I believe in myself - ti amu. You've watched me practice acceptance speeches in our kitchen, held me through the disappointments, and somehow made me feel like a winner every single time. You told me once that in racing, it's not about how many times you don't make the podium, it's about never stopping until you do. Well, my love, we finally made it to the top step."

You can see Charles openly crying now, nodding proudly through his tears. "To my parents who let their little girl dream big, to my team who've been with me through every 'maybe next year,' to every young actor who's been told 'not yet' - keep going. Your time will come."

Looking down at the golden statue in your hands, you smile through your tears. "And finally, to every person who's ever felt like they're always the runner-up, who's heard 'better luck next time' so many times they've lost count - this is for you. Because sometimes the longest waitings lead to the sweetest victories. Thank you, thank you so much."

Later, at the Vanity Fair after-party, Charles hasn't let go of your Oscar once. He's been carrying it around, showing it off more proudly than any of his race trophies.

"My wife," he keeps saying to everyone who'll listen, his accent thick with emotion, "she's brilliant, no? I told everyone she would win. I knew it."

"Charles," you laugh, watching him polish the statue with his pocket square for the third time. "You're going to wear it out."

"Non, I'm protecting it. It's very precious." He looks at you with those soft green eyes. "Like you."

You lean into his side, feeling the familiar warmth of his arm around your waist. "You know what this means, right? Now we both have something gold to polish obsessively."

He chuckles, finally setting the Oscar down to pull you closer. "Oui, but unlike my trophies, this one was a long time coming." His expression softens. "You deserved this years ago, mon coeur."

"Well," you say, straightening his bowtie, "someone once told me that the sweetest victories are the ones you have to fight for."

"Sounds like a wise man," he grins.

"He's alright," you tease. "Bit of a show-off though. Keeps trying to steal my Oscar's spotlight."

Charles laughs, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "Never. Tonight is all yours, my love. Though..." he adds with a mischievous glint in his eye, "I might need to win another race soon. Can't have you being the only champion in the household."

You reach up to wipe a smudge of your lipstick from his cheek. "Race you to the next gold trophy?"

"Deal," he says softly, pulling you into a proper kiss. "But you've already won the most important race."

"Oh? Which one is that?"

His smile is tender as he touches his forehead to yours. "The race to my heart."

"That was terrible," you laugh, but you're already pulling him closer.

"Terrible but true," he murmurs against your lips. "Now, shall we go home? I need to practice my 'proud husband watching his wife's Oscar-winning performance' face for when we rewatch your movie for the hundredth time."

"You love that movie."

"I love you," he corrects.

And as you watch him carefully wrap your award in his suit jacket for the journey home, you think that maybe this victory is sweeter than you imagined - not because of the golden statue, but because of the golden heart beside you who never stopped believing it would happen.

Taash takes her to to hit stuff and/or commit arson. Davrin lets her take a nap on the rug with Assan even though she snores. Bellara and Neve get Rook involved in talking about serials and gossiping about their love lives. Harding asks Rook to help with the garden and lets Rook be quiet and follow instructions so she can not have to think. Teia teases Rook about Lucanis in a friendly way. Viago gives Rook something to help her stomach when she eats seafood or something contaminated by seafood (if he can poison people, he can certainly help with a tummy ache). She is loved by many and they all want to help, even if sometimes it's hard to remember she's not alone.

Duke tossed a small rock at Ra's alarming the villainous man. Jason covered his mouth chuckling. Damian turned the other way so his grandfather didn't see him laughing as well.

Duke: Damian, Jason, get behind me!

Duke clasped his fingers together in the shape of a cross.

Duke: Stand back, Satan, prince of darkness!

Ra's: I'm not Satan, and I'm certainly not a mere prince!

Duke: The devil is a master of disguise, taking on many forms. Evil walks among us, hiding in plain sight.

Ra's: Okay, that’s just hurtful.

Duke kicked Ra's in the shin, causing the man to grunt in pain and crumple to the ground.

Duke: Uh huh, that’s what the magic goop does to you when you keep swimming in it! And that’s for Jason, jerk.

Ra's (weakly): Oh, for what? Teaching him how to be an actual protector of Gotham?

Duke: Of course you’d defend it! Look, if you come near me or my little brother again, I’m going to spritz you with my holy water. I've been wanting to do that for a while. Let's go, guys.

Duke stepped over the fallen man, with Jason and Damian following closely behind. Jason struggled to stifle his laughter.

Damian (turning to his grandfather): Sorry, Grandpa, but you had it coming.

Ra's (standing up): This is rare for me, pride in someone else. Sadly, it's being suffocated by my rage at being kicked in the shin!

Duke sprayed Ra's Al Ghul with a spray bottle filled with water. Ra's wasn’t hurt by the water, but found it irritating to be sprayed in the face like a disobedient cat.

Ra's (eye twitching): I’m not a cat, and he’s my grandson! Damian, get—Stop spraying me!

Duke (continuing to spray): Unfortunately, you’re related, but he doesn’t want you near him if you can’t keep your promise about no ninjas.

Duke lowered the spray bottle as Ra's took a step back.

Damian (keeping a safe distance): Thanks, Duke. He wants me to enter some weird tournament, and I’m really not in the right headspace to almost die.

Duke: No problem. How did you handle beelzebub as a little kid?

Damian (shrugging): He’s not completely evil; sometimes he’d give me hard candies for winning fights.

Duke nodded, quickly spraying Ra's again when the man made a move toward him.

Duke: Back up, dude! I ain't playing. I have powers, I can vanish in this lair of yours and then beat you up!

Ra's (squinting his eyes enraged): I don’t care about you.

Ra's stormed off, grumbling under his breath. Damian picked up the spray bottle, confused.

Duke: It's just regular water, but I pretend it’s holy water.

Damian (impressed): You know, you haven't quite reached our level of strangeness, but I admire how odd you can be.

Duke (chuckling with a smile): I appreciate that, bro.

Season Five Codas

First up, we have a few incredible codas for the last Lone Star episodes. As always, our wonderful writers worked their magic and wrote some beautiful fics.

No Goodbyes - @carlos-in-glasses

For our first fic of the month, we have a coda from the lovely Cig, who always does an amazing job at mixing complex emotions and showing us the humans behind the characters. They're never just sad, or just angry, or just happy. Sometimes, it's so many things at once, and Cig does a beautiful job of capturing that. This fic in particular gives us a glimpse into the aftermath of 3x08 and shows us a potential origin story for the phrase "no goodbyes" and I love it so much because you can feel the gravity of everything that happened, the way Carlos is processing all of those emotions, and the many ways in which he and TK love each other.

Brighter Than All This Lightning - @paperstorm

This was the first finale coda I read, and I loved it a lot! It has several moments from 5x12 that we didn't get to see, like Tarlos' reunion hug, the uncertainty while the 126 are all in the hospital, and TK telling Carlos about his decision to quit his job. This fic does a great job exploring all of those emotions, and I love the way Carlos comforts TK throughout all of it. It's a small period of both relief and worry, and a slowed-down moment in between all of the chaos.

No Regrets - @carlos-in-glasses

No goodbyes, and NO REGRETS! What a perfect way to conclude this story (for now) and what a perfect coda to read after the finale. It has such a creative format, showing us snapshots throughout TK and Carlos' lives, and at the end we get to see how Jonah's life looks now that he's with them. I love the dynamics we can already see developing in their family. We see all of the different ways TK and Carlos are loving Jonah, and all of the pieces of themselves they're giving to him. This is such a sweet fic and a beautiful glimpse into this family.

Towards The Sun - @theghostofashton

Another amazing 5x12 coda! I really loved how this fic not only focused on Tarlos, but we also get to see how Nancy is struggling waiting to see if Mateo will be okay. And we get to see how TK and Carlos are there for her as well. Neha does a great job at expanding her fics and showing us so much more than just Tarlos, and it's always enjoyable to read them with that added element!

Oneshots

This Little Moment - @everlastingday

If you're looking for Jonah fics, start with this one! As far as fics focused on this family go, this is a favorite. I love the concept of looking at how the relationship between Jonah, TK and Carlos evolves overtime when we see how they interact in the future. I love all of the detail that was included in Jonah's personality and the dynamics between the three of them, as well as all of the little things that show how TK and Carlos are incredible parents. This was such a sweet and emotional fic, and I love that this story is being told through Jonah's perspective.

Somewhere Off The Coast Of Santorini - @alrightbuckaroo

Are you a fan of AUs? Well, you're in luck if you are, because Ada is doing an event that's all about AUs that you should check out, and you should also read this fic as well! It has everything you want in an assassins AU: tension, humor, and hot sex. I love the aspect of AUs where they're different enough, but still maintain the charm of the characters, and this fic does a great job with that! We get to see Tarlos in an entirely different career, we get to see them be as infatuated with each other as they are in every universe, and we get to see their friends teasing them about it!

Swing For The Fences - @strandnreyes

Sometimes we learn little pieces of lore about our favorite characters that are like hidden treasures that are just waiting to be explored, and that's exactly what Jen does here! We know TK plays softball, but now we have a whole other world to play with and another aspect of his and Carlos' life that comes into play. I love how this fic follows them through season 5 through this lens, introduces new characters for Tarlos to befriend, and includes Jonah being adorable!

Welcome Home, Jonah - @lemonlyman-dotcom

This fic takes us on the journey of Jonah finally coming home. It's beautiful in the way it shows all of the emotions everyone is feeling, as well as showing some realistic, early parenting hiccups that TK and Carlos run into. Lemon really knows how to deliver a sweet fic, and this one is perfect for if you're looking to read something with beautiful family moments and feel the endless love TK and Carlos have for Jonah, and for each other.

Carlos Reyes And The No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Day - @the-126-family

This is the first of two fics that emerged from this post, which was already hilarious, and I love how this fic expanded on that idea. The combination of the serious stress of the asteroid aftermath and the more lighthearted stress of Lou getting out (and of course, being more frightening than the end of the world to Carlos) made for a really enjoyable fic!

Moka Pot Monday - @daggerandrose

Similar to the previous fic, this one also gives us some post-asteroid Lou shenanigans! It also does an amazing job at balancing all of those emotions, and I love the soft Tarlos moments as well! This fic shows the beauty and domesticity of their relationship in the way they interact with Lou, and in the way they comfort each other after a near death experience.

The End Is Near - angstk

Paging all whump lovers! We love tension, we love danger, we love angst, and this fic gives us all of that. TK and Carlos are in a hostage situation (because of course they are) and I love how this fic shows how the fear affects them, as well as how they take charge and try to save the day. It's action packed, it's high-stakes, and it will absolutely break your heart before putting it back together again.

You Wanting Me Tonight Feels Impossible - @emsprovisions

Our favorite original character is back: Lizzie the dog! This time, it's a universe where TK and Carlos are in Oregon, dealing with their strained relationship and the hardships of a brutal winter storm. The vibes are perfect for the angst this fic delivers, and the resolution is so beautiful! No matter what happens, or where they go, Tarlos are always going to get through it together.

We're Gonna Be Just Okay - @lemonlyman-dotcom

The title speaks for itself, because they really are going to be okay, aren't they? Lemon is back with yet another beautiful Jonah fic, and this time it's from the perspective of TK and Marjan, who are both entering parenthood together. This fic, like many of Lemon's fics, does such a good job showing the strength of TK and Marjan's friendship, and the moments with Jonah are absolutely precious.

Through Thick And Thin - @chaoticbug

This is another fic that dives into TK and Marjan's friendship, and what better way to do that than to have TK being there for her as she takes a pregnancy test and waits for the biggest news of her life. The 126 is truly a family, and this fic is a perfect representation of how strong that family is and how they support each other in moments like these.

Lost - @denizoid

This songfic (based on this song) is so good! It's so simple, yet it really shows just how Carlos and TK fall for each other so quickly after meeting for the first time. It's sweet, it's a beautiful meetcute, and it's a very enjoyable read. If you're into the "meeting in the middle of nowhere" vibe, then you'll definitely love this fic! I also recommend listening to the song while you read.

💞 Valentine's Day Fics 💞

Holiday themed fics are always fun, and y'all went all out for Valentine's Day!

Famous Last Words - @captain-gillian

TK and Carlos' first Valentine's with Jonah is nothing short of eventful! They have a three-year-old in the house now, and they'll do just about anything for him, which doesn't end so well for them here. This fic is so fun, and I love how it shows some of the more lighthearted ways in which things can go wrong. Overall it's a beautiful fic where we get to see more of this new family, and one of the many interesting situations they'd find themselves in with Jonah.

A Taste Of Something Sweet, A Window To Your Soul - @everlastingday

An AU where TK is a chocolatier is something I didn't know I needed, but now that I've read this I am so, so happy that this idea was brought to life! It's not just a simple Valentine's meetcute, it's so much more than that. We see Carlos and TK falling in love because of the care TK puts into his chocolates, and the way the flavors are described is so evocative. This is such a well written story, and it's perfect for those of us who have more than one kind of sweet tooth!

Like An Ocean In Love - @alrightbuckaroo

This is such a lovely 5+1 concept, and Ada did a fantastic job with it! I love all of the moments she chose to dive into, and each of these soft, special, and romantic moments is beautifully brought to life. Ada's writing is so gorgeous, and I highly recommend reading this if you need more of TK and Carlos being undeniably in love!

For One Weekend Only - @no-goodbyes-no-regrets

This was written for the @tarlos-secret-cupid event, and I am so, so thankful to have been the recipient of this beautiful fic! Bijou did such an incredible job with the alternative meeting prompt, and I absolutely love the dynamic between Carlos and Luisa here! There were so many things about this fic that were sweet and fun and overall this was a very lovely read!

Of Your Kiss And Your Warm Embrace - @carlos-in-glasses

Not directly a Valentine's fic, but this fic was also written for the secret cupid event and Cig did such an amazing job (as usual) with this! I love the prompt of TK saving Carlos from a horrible date, and Cig worked wonders with it. As usual, it's silly and hot and we get to see Tarlos' soulmate-ism at work once again. If you're looking for something sweet and fun to read, this is the fic for you.

Chaptered Fics

You're Still The One - @strandnreyes

Did someone say Sweet Home Alabama AU? I've been obsessed with this concept ever since I saw the first snippets, and as usual, Jen has been giving us an amazing story! This exes to lovers fic is giving us the angst we all desperately crave. Or maybe it's just me craving it, but this story is definitely delivering! We know Tarlos will find their way back to each other, but the process of unpacking their past and confronting those emotions has been both beautiful and heartbreaking so far.

The Widow's Bite - @henrygrass

The writing in this fic is just so incredibly evocative, and it's everything I would have wanted from a spinoff. With Carlos and Sam working together while their families are in hiding, there's so much tension and so many twists and turns that have me on the edge of my seat. Every time I sit down to read a chapter, I physically cannot pull myself away! I can't wait to see where this story goes, and I highly recommend reading if you're looking to dive into a gripping nail-biter that also offers plenty of angsty and emotional moments.

Something Worth Waiting For - @carlossreaders

An AU where Tarlos are divorced parents was an intriguing concept to say the least, and the way this story came together was beautiful. We usually wouldn't see TK and Carlos dealing with something like this in fics, but I think that's what makes this one so good, because it shows just how strong their love is. We get heartbreaking flashbacks of the loss they faced and the struggles that came with it, we get to meet their two kids whose personalities are big and whose hearts are even bigger, and we get to see how Tarlos come back to each other and confront the pain that separated them to begin with. Love, loss, Parenthood, and TK and Carlos being soulmates: all of these elements came together to create an incredible story.

The Lone Ranger - @rangersoup

Do you want more Ranger Soup? Do you want to see more of the dynamic between Sam and Carlos? Then you should read this fic! It's intense, and it shows just how strong the bond between Sam and Carlos is when Carlos is injured. It moves fast and slow in all the right moments, it gives us perspectives from different characters, and we see how TK surpresses his fear in order to stay professional and attempt to save Carlos. It's full of the action we all crave, and I can't wait for more!

Are We In The Clear Yet? Good. - @liminalmemories21

This series of season five codas is, for lack of a better description, fucking beautiful. There is so much love that has clearly been poured into this, and each moment that was expanded on is so thoughtfully written. I loved all of the angst, joy, and every emotion in between that I got to experience while reading, and this fic genuinely made me want to go rewatch season five afterward. There's so much detail, so many complexities, and so much love for these characters and their story. If you're looking to ride the rollercoaster that was this season again, look no further than this fic.

I'm bored

This can be adult Danny phantom and captain marvel and Barry Allen or kid phantom, Shazam and the flash.

Danny's an unknown entity who was raised by mad scientist and had impulsive and intrusive thoughts and questions but doesn't know how to properly do it in a lab setting that isn't like baking. Barry is a scientist, Shazam is a magical being that has an encyclopedia in his headnon magical creatures but not their properties and such Why don't we have more flashfam waking up at three in the morning to find the ghost king, champion of magic, and their dad jamming out to a song while performing magical scientific experiment ls like putting vampire blood in things and putting ectoplasm into things. Or doing the most random shit that would be illegal if it wasn't with Shazam and phantom.

Please I just want all of them to be jamming out to a cringe pop song and getting all of the words wrong because flash decided to give Shazam ectoplasm and phantom ichor and ambrose just to see what happens and they gave his something with a lot of sugar to see what would happen, they also keep feeding him things that they make that's supposed to have a lot of calories to combat his high metabolism. Could phantom overshadow Shazam or flash. Could flash phase through phantom, does it have the same effect as phantom flying through people? Could he go through phantoms ice, can flashes lighting make Shazam detransform. What would happen if a vampire bit danny, would he turn into a vampire or be and undead twice over, what would happen of it bit Shazam, would his shazamness filter it out? Can the vampires bit be filtered, is it like a piosen or a venom that turns it victims into its own. Kind via overwriting it's DNA or is it something else entirely. Ca it be filtered if your bitten, could you become immune. Are all three of them immune via flashes high metabolism filters it out before it gets the chance or he faces it out of his body. Does it even work on phantom. Would Shazam voices scare the vampire before it can do anything or does Shazam demigodlyness make it so it doesn't work.

Ironstrange: soulmarks show potential/compatible soulmates and change (appear, fade, etc). Tony has one that has never changed, no matter how often he interacts with Strange. How does Stephen win him over?

I ended up doing a fair bit of mental world building to get this to work in my brain. I hope the result is interesting!

“Tony,” Stephen says, approaching him after an Avengers meeting has wrapped up. “Could we speak in private?”

Tony has been dreading this day ever since he spotted the mosaic decorating Stephen’s chest and realized that the design filling one of the hexes matched one of the pie slices in the circle Tony bears on his shoulder. But there’s no avoiding it, not really. “Yeah, alright,” he says, and Stephen’s brow wrinkles at the reluctant note that Tony doesn’t even try to suppress. Might as well start lowering his expectations now.

Tony leads them into a spare conference room. No point in making this too personal. Hitching one hip up on the table, he waits for Stephen to close the door behind himself and then waves for him to go on.

“We have soulmate potential,” Stephen says carefully.

“I’m aware.”

Stephen is quiet for a moment. “I take it you’re not interested in pursuing that.”

Well, this is already going better than expected. “I’m not,” Tony confirms. 

“May I ask why?”

“Sure,” Tony offers lightly and waits. 

Impressively, Stephen doesn’t seem frustrated or impatient despite being forced to ask the question again: “Why are you not interested in pursuing a potential soulmate?”

“Because I’ve been down this road before,” Tony says bluntly. “Three times, actually. Potential soulmates who come to me full of pretty promises about what our future could look like if only I’d let them in, give them a chance, open up. They push and they push and they push because they’re so sure we’re going to be perfect together, and when the mark never activates they get angry and resentful and blame me for not trying hard enough. I should have learned from the first two, but the third… The third was Pepper. At least I managed to salvage a friendship out of that one. 

“In my experience,” Tony went on, “soulmate potential doesn’t improve relationships, it ruins them. I’m not interested in going through that again.”

Stephen is quiet for a long minute. Tony waits for the argument for how Stephen is different. Maybe he’ll claim the silver mark—a platonic soulmate—on his chest means he knows how this works. Maybe he’ll argue that they have more in common, both being heroes. Maybe he thinks magic gives him extra  insight into the whole soulmate concept. 

“I understand,” Stephen says eventually. “I hope we can be friends, eventually, but I imagine you’ll want some distance first.”

He turns and opens the conference room door, and it’s then, when Tony is still staring after him in disbelief, that Tony feels the flare of heat in his shoulder.

Stephen stops, but doesn’t turn back. Tony yanks his shirt off and cranes his neck to peer at his shoulder. “Well, look at that,” he says, bemused. Stephen’s pie slice shines gold. “Apparently all I needed was for someone to respect my choice.” He looks up to find Stephen still in the doorway, shoulders tense. “Get back here, Stephen.”

Stephen closes the door and hesitantly comes back to stand before Tony. “You’re sure?” His eyes go to Tony’s shoulder and the golden mark.

“I’ve never had an activated mark before,” Tony says. “The variables have changed.” Stephen arches an eyebrow and Tony rolls his eyes. “That’s a yes. I’m sure.”

Stephen smiles. “Good.”

I have no other reason other than to think it would just be funny. Maybe could also work hand in hand here with an identity reveal BUT I think it would 10x funnier if this is when Nightwing is in the JL and in turn he gives him a domino mask that fits instead did some magical oh the suit just shrinks with him. So now they have a Domino mask wearing Batman who looks around 15/16-ish looking like an absolute menace. It’s a point of “oh yeah the more I look at it the more I realize Nightwing does kinda look at him when he’s not in the cowl” even is Nightwing is aware he isn’t his biological child it’s kinda validating lmao. But then the teenage menace part. I imagine him being Average height, like his Growth spur didn’t hit til he was around 17 or 18.

So he’s just the average height, dark hair, pale skinned teenager who looks like he is constantly about to do something and he does in fact do something. In tower which is a slight relief because the fact he managed to disappear from any of their sights(Martian Manhunter included) is fuckin’ impressive seeing as he doesn’t have memories of being the Bat. But they end up finding out exactly where he is when the fact the now teenage Bat is fucking with the com’s and essentially screaming in everyone ears, blasting music or messing with the place. It might not be muscle or regular memory where everything is but he’s a smart kid he’s figure it out.

The cameras would pic up everything and he’s doing it on purpose too, he knows they’re there and takes the opportunity to makes sure to be a little son of a bitch infront of them. Average height perks of realizing that the vents are unusually large and he can fit in them. Watching the cameras are basically useless because by the time you tell a member where he is he is quite literally somewhere else being a Dick.

T’was but a silly idea. If he wasn’t a teenage menace then he’d still be more emotional and you’d fucking witness it.

PART THREE

Because Bellatrix is locked in fighting Moody, Voldemort isn’t able to grab her and disapparate like he does in canon - but he can get to Harry, because Dumbledore isn’t there. Barty is out of there at the same time as Voldemort, and the three of them land at Malfoy Manor, where they are greeted by Narcissa Malfoy and the Death Eater B Squad (whoever Bellatrix didn’t take with her.) I’d love to say that Lucius didn’t go along to the Department of Mysteries… but the truth is he probably did, if only to keep up appearances. So he’s currently being arrested by Aurors, along with the rest of the Death Eaters. 

Voldemort walks right past everyone, and carries Harry’s unconscious body down to the Malfoy dungeons. He’s trying not to show it, but he is freaked out. This is the third time his wand has not worked properly against this girl. 

At his heart, Voldemort is something of a mad scientist. So he’s going to isolate the problem. His first thought is - maybe it’s something to do with the wand, and not Harry herself? That doesn’t quite fit, because Harry didn’t have a wand as a baby, but maybe she’s using her mother‘s wand or something, and it’s just been the same wand defeating him over and over. So he gives Harry’s holly wand to Barty and tells him to cast a simple jinx. Barty does and – once again - the wand moves on his own, casts golden flames at Voldemort (just like it did during the duel in the atrium…) 

In canon, the wand does this because of the twin cores: whenever Voldemort sends a curse against Harry, instead of hitting him it basically charges his wand so that the next time they have a confrontation, the holly wand is extra effective against Voldemort specifically. Since it’s the *wand itself* doing this unusual magic, not Harry… I think the same thing would happen, no matter who was holding the wand. 

Voldemort does not like this one bit. He puts his wand down, grabs Barty’s and casts another jinx - only this time he’s angry, this time it’s real, he’d do some real damage if he hit Barty. But Barty casts a shield charm with Harry’s wand - and hits Voldemort with golden flames once again. Spits them right at the wand Voldemort is holding. So Barty’s wand shatters, the same way Lucius’ wand did in canon. Like, Barney is powerful, but he’s not Voldemort powerful. His wand cannot stand up against Voldemort magic. 

Barty drops the holly wand. He and Voldemort look at each other. Apparently Harry and her wand have access to some vast reserve of power that only works if it’s used against Voldemort specifically. Then Barty takes the prophecy out of his pocket. He and Voldemort listen to the whole thing. They get to the bit at the end: “neither can live while the other survives,” and  Voldemort doesn’t know what that means exactly, but it does not sound good. He’s thinking that maybe Barty botched the resurrection ritual, maybe Harry is siphoning power away from him somehow and that’s where all her magic is coming from. Basically, he is not pleased. He’s especially not pleased with Barty. 

(Part of this also is projection. Barty saw Voldemort weak and out of control, and Voldemort hates people seeing him like that.)

He’s not especially worried about his Death Eaters: even if they end up in Azkaban, he can get past the dementors so it’s kind of whatever. But this one thing… this weird thing with Harry Potter’s wand… he’d really like to have that resolved by the time everyone gets back, so he can be all-knowing and all-powerful in front of his followers. And right now, he’s worried that if kills Harry or snaps her wand, he might accidentally make the problem worse. So, Voldemort’s got questions about wands, so he’s going to go kidnap Olivander, just like he does in canon. (Olivander can also make a new wand for Barty.)

Narcissa saw Voldemort carrying Harry’s body through the Malfoy Manor entrance hall, and her first thought was Draco. She doesn’t know what happened exactly, but she does know that luring Harry Potter out of the castle was Draco‘s mission… and it really looks like he did it. That means she needs to get Draco out of Hogwarts now, before Albus Dumbledore realizes what’s happened, and decides to keep Draco as a hostage. She clears this with Voldemort - who seems to find her fairly trustworthy, or at very least very not-a-threat, if she’s the one he asks to check Harry pulse in Book 7. He lets her go, and Barty goes with her as backup (and because he wants to put some space between himself and Voldemort. He pulls a hair off Lucius’ hairbrush, transforms into him, and they both apparate to Hogwarts. 

Narcissa stops the first teacher she sees. They need to take Draco out of school right now, his grandmother is dying, it’s his cousin’s wedding - whatever lie she comes up with. She’s convincing, and Draco‘s already taken his OWLs, there’s only like a week left of term anyway. She finds him in his dorm or Myrtle’s bathroom or wherever he’s tucked himself away, and successfully takes him with her back to Malfoy Manor.

Now, I think Narcissa is an Occlumens, like Snape. For one thing, It explains how she’s able to lie to Voldemort at the end of Book 7. For another… someone taught Draco occulmency. Snape asks Draco if it was his aunt Bellatrix, who taught him, which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Bellatrix is an emotional berserker, who wants emotional connection with Voldemort more than anything else. Why would she learn to shut that down? That’s so much more the move of her ice-cold,don’t-let-them-know-what-you’re-thinking sister. We even see Narcissa silently coaching Draco to stare straight at the wall and not react at the beginning of Book 6. Also… Bellatrix doesn’t trust or really even like Draco at this point, so why would she bother making him more effective? No, I think it makes much more sense that Draco‘s mother taught him. 

And Narcissa is going to get a start on that right now, because the second she or Barty mention that they’ve got Harry Potter at the house, she is going to read how conflicted he is about all of this as clear as day (as well as the fact that he kind of has a thing for Harry Potter.) This is about where Book 5 would end. 

Book 6 starts with both sides regrouping. Dumbledore will still have tried to put on the ring and cursed himself, so he knows he’s only about a year to live. But with Snape’s help he makes a recovery from the despair-potion he drank in the Inferi cave, and reads the note left inside the locket. So now he knows that it’s a fake horcrux, and Regulus Black took the real one. 

The only people who might possibly know what Regulus did with that horcrux - where he put it, if he managed to destroy it - are going to be his house elf Kreacher and his brother Sirius. Getting to either of them is kind of a problem, because Kreacher is in Grimmauld place, and in order to open up Grimmauld Place… Dumbledore is going to need Sirius. 

The way I see the inheritance law working here, which best explains how Sirus is able to inherit the house free and clear, despite being disowned (when Bellatrix is right there…) is that Regulus un-disowned him right before he died, and wrote him back into his will. Regulus saw the error of his ways and was trying to fix as much as he could in the time he had left, so I think this fits. (Regulus also died after his father, so would’ve been head of the family for a few months there.) 

I think Dumbledore is also giving a little more thought to the Black brothers than he has been up until now. He didn’t know that Regulus had a change of heart right there at the end… so he considers he might have been wrong about Sirius as well. The top priority has now become find Sirius Black. And Dumbledore puts Remus on the case as well: Sirius tried to make contact with him once, he might try to do it again. 

So why is Dumbledore’s priority not rescue Harry? For one thing, in order for Book 6 and Book 7 to make sense, I think Malfoy Manor has to be pretty much impregnable. It’s where they keep high-value hostages like Olivander and Luna. If a handful of Order members could have snuck in, grabbed them and left, they would’ve done that. 

(It’s actually kind of a plot hole and definitely a deus ex machina when Dobby shows up and can just teleport people out. Like if Dobby could do that the whole time, did he just not care about Luna? Not want to help the Voldemort war effort?) 

So in this, I’m just going to say that Barty warded that basement even better than in canon. I mean, he kept Moody locked in his trunk for a year right underneath Dumbledore‘s nose, and reprogrammed the Goblet of Fire. He could Dobby-proof the Malfoy wards. Especially since Lucius Malfoy should honestly be a little terrified of Dobby at this point. He might come back, mess with him or his family the same way he messed with Harry, he might spy on him, or  gather evidence against him… If I were Lucius Malfoy, I would have spent Book 3 making sure Dobby could not get in my house.

So. Dumbledore is looking for ways to get into Malfoy Manor, but nothing is immediately magically obvious. (Another excellent reason to get your hands on Sirius: he found a way out of Azkaban. Maybe he can find a way into Malfoy Manor.) Also - Dumbledore loves Harry, but at the end of the day he’s all about the greater good. He knew going into this that Harry dying was 100% a possibility. He’s thinking that - worst case scenario - Voldemort kills Harry, and Dumbledore’s magical theories are wrong and Harry isn’t able to magically come back. In which case Voldemort‘s destroyed one of his horcuxes, and the war continues. 

(I think Dumbledore starts looking at Severus, as the best person to continue the horcrux quest, if he isn’t able to complete it, and Harry Potter isn’t able to complete it.) 

Back to Voldemort. He’s kidnapped Olivander and demanded he explain what’s going on with him, Harry, and their wands. 

Now Olivander is kind of interesting. A little creepy, a little amoral. On some level he just wants to see cool magic and doesn’t care that much which side does it. (“After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things. Terrible, yes. But great.”) This is why I think Voldemort is willing to work with him, and trust his advice. 

But when it really comes down to it, I don’t think Olivander wants Voldemort win. And I say that, because when he’s kidnapped (during the end of Book 6? Beginning of Book 7? It’s unclear) - he could have given Voldemort a very straightforward explanation. Voldemort and Harry have wands with twin cores, and that triggers all sorts of weird magical effects when the wands fight. All Voldemort has to do is snap the holly wand, and he would be able to fight Harry completely normally. 

(I actually don’t think he’d be able to kill Harry at this point, because he brought himself back to life losing Harry’s blood, and so is teathering Harry to life the same way a horcrux would. They’re both each other’s horcruxes, that’s what “neither can live while the other survives”  means. But, he’d be able to do anything else to Harry, no problem.)

But my point is, canon Olivander doesn’t tell Voldemort any of that. He starts talking about this mythical extra-powerful wand, and watches Voldemort‘s eyes get huge. I think Oliver was buying the opposition a little time, by sending Voldemort on this wild goose chase overseas and keeping him away from the war effort in England. So that’s what happens in this AU too. Voldemort does have slightly more information. 

He’s got questions. Is this wand Lily Potter‘s wand? No? Then why did my spell bounce rebound off her when she was a baby? Why does my wand not work against her wand properly? Why doesn't any wand I’m holding not work against her properly? 

And I think Olivander is going to tell him about the Deathly Hallows. He already kinda does by telling him about the Elder Wand, and he definitely knows about the Hallows. Olivander is going to see the Cloak Harry brought with her and say no, that’s not a normal invisibility cloak. Harry Potter is master of one of the Deathly Hallows. She inherited it from her father and has its loyalty. 

The longer he talks to Voldemort the more things are going to start making sense. Voldemort realizes what the ring he turned into a horcrux actually was. And instead of feeling stupid, he’s going to feel kind of cool. Because this makes sense. He’s the master of the Ring. Harry’s mistress of the Cloak. They both have one, that’s why they can’t fight properly against each other, they’re canceling each other out. He needs the Wand, to be a tiebreaker. Then it’ll be two Hallows against one, and he’ll win. It’s the world’s most powerful wand, so actually he’ll be unstoppable. So Voldemort leaves to track it down. He’ll talk to Grigorovich, then Grindelwald, and eventually realize that Dumbledore has the wand. But that’s going to take him a non-zero amount of time. 

But what would be wild, if you really were writing this as a book, is that all this is going on in the background. Our viewpoint characters don’t understand this yet, they’re only catching glimpses. Harry is in the Malfoy dungeons hearing garbled bits of conversations, and trying to piece together an escape plan.

What do you think a genderswapped Harry Potter (Harriet Potter?) would've been like?

So to start... I actually don't think life at the Dursleys would be all that different for Fem!Harry. Maybe there would be less *violent* bullying from Vernon and Dudley... but they honestly don't manage all that much as it is, and Harry's "normal" abuse mostly consists of being shouted at, locked up, treated as a scullery maid, and just generally made into a scapegoat + inferior/problem child that the rest of the family can unite around. If anything, Fem!Harry would have just reminded Petunia even MORE of Lily, and stirred up even MORE complicated emotions. And we'd get even more of live-in chef/maid Cinderella!Harry. It would all feel very Matilda.

The first big change I see happening... is I don't think Ron would have bonded with Harry on the train nearly as easily, if she were a girl. Young Ron is honestly pretty uncomfortable/awkward around girls... unless he's able to put them into a category like "little sister" (which doesn't count.) Or "know-it-all" (which doesn't count.) It's kind of a plot point in Book 4 that it takes him a while to realize Hermione and Ginny are girls he and Harry could potentially ask to the dance. Ron grew up around a bunch of guys, and you can tell. I think he'd try to *impress* Fem!Harry on the train, and probably put his foot in his mouth.

Harry would be at kind of loose ends on the Hogwarts Express, and get sucked into the search for Trevor the toad as something to do. So in this version, she actually ends up bonding with Neville. Hermione would be there too but well - Hermione rubbed Harry the wrong way at first in canon, and it would be even more the case here. They're both (functionally) muggleborn girls - but Hermione is SO much better prepared, and has SUCH loving parents, and won't shut up about any of this. In a way that Canon!Harry kind of fixates on Draco for ending up with his Ideal Life, it's possible that Fem!Harry might fixate more on Hermione.

11-year-old Draco would have treated Fem!Harry exactly the same, meeting her at Madame Malkin's and later on the train. He'd still have his obsession with her, and yeah, it probably does read as more of a crush to his Slytherin buddies... but I really do not see that stopping him. If his father can't get him to be normal to Harry, then that's just how it's going to be.

Harry will still get Sorted into Gryffindor, but I don't see her being close with any of the the other Gryffindor girls. Lavender and Parvati just have very different personalities, and Harry and Hermione... are very intense people who work best when they're able to take breaks from each other. In Book 4 when Harry is exclusively hanging out with Hermione, he comments that she's not as *fun* as Ron. And we see that dynamic again in Book 7 when it's just the two of them in the tent. Like they're incredibly effective, but seem to be wearing each other down a little. I think that forcing young (less emotionally mature) Harry and Hermione to be roommates would just end up with them getting on each other's nerves.

Hermione might get pulled into the friend group when Harry and Neville need help researching Nicholas Flamel, but she could easily stay more of a supporting character or even a frenemy in this version. Fem!Harry would still be the youngest seeker in a century. (Draco would be even more motivated to steal Neville's Remembrall if Neville is Harry's best friend... so that face-off would have gone down exactly the same.) Once she's actually on the team, I could see her falling in more with the upperclassmen, and hanging out with Fred, George, Lee, and Angelina (especially if they put together that she's a bit lonely.) It could be Harry, Neville, maybe Hermione, maybe the twins solving the puzzles at the end of Book 1. They'd still suspect Snape, who... would honestly be just a slightly different flavor of antagonistic and weird towards Harry, if she were a girl.

But in second year, Ginny would be Sorted into Gryffindor and I do think that Fem!Harry and Ginny would get along great, absolutely be bros. They could bond over quidditch, and Harry would get more of a sense of Ginny's actual personality (funny, cool). I have to think 11-year-old Ginny would be much less awkward around Harry if she were a girl.

Which would be really intense actually, because Ginny would have shown up to school with the the Diary, and it's... sort of important to the plot that she's isolated and has no friends. If she shares it with Harry as a cool thing - then Harry is ABSOLUTELY going to get obsessed with it. And since Harry's a much better *get* for Tom (Tom talks about being *so* pleased when powerful, important, future nemesis Harry starts writing to him instead of Ginny...) I think you just get Possessed!Harry opening up the Chamber of Secrets.

Also, would Harry have a crush on Tom? We know that Tom Riddle tries to impress Canon!Harry, which doesn't work... but Fem!Harry he might try to charm. Tom can be very charming if he wants to be. Harry also thinks he's very handsome. Either way, Tom is going to work VERY hard to to get Harry to distrust her friends. Really, you'd just get Harry's plot about being isolated and possessed by Voldemort in Book 5 moved to Book 2. Tom would get Harry to write "her skeleton will lie in the Chamber forever" on the wall, and lure her down to the Chamber of Secrets.

However. I do think that Lily's magic, which makes it impossible for Voldemort to physically touch Harry, would also make it impossible for him to properly drain her life and take over her body. I'm thinking of the moment at the end of Book 5 where Voldemort tries to possess Harry, but Harry fights him off. So... I think Harry just wakes up in the Chamber of Secrets with an intact Diary and a basilisk she can control, since of course she's still a parselmouth.

The question is... what happens to the Diary, now that Harry knows it's dangerous? I'm thinking that when Harry disappears, Ginny freaks out and tells one of her older brothers what's going on, who tells Arthur, who tells Dumbledore. Which leaves Dumbledore with a Horcrux that still works... and it seems like if you've got school-age Tom Riddle right there, that would be a much easier way to get an answer to the question 'how many horcuxes do you plan on making?' So Dumbledore gets a head start on that project.

Harry now effectively just is the Heir of Slytherin. She can go to the Chamber whenever she wants, and the basilisk is her familiar I guess (Hagrid would LOVE helping her take care of it.) I could also see a Harry who gets more *interested* in Salazar Slytherin after this. She definitely wouldn't talk to Draco - he spent Book 2 being an asshat and calling people slurs. But Harry might try to pick Theo's brain or something.

Now Hermione. At first I was thinking - does Hermione just die, in Book 2? Would she have known to look around corners with a mirror, and so survive her basilisk attack?

I do think she'd still figure it out... and it's because of Lockhart. Hermione is a Gilderoy Lockhart *fangirl,* and without Ron and Harry poo-pooing her crush (and without first hand experience of Lockhart causing issues for Harry...) I think she's able to geek about about this with her roomies. I mean, Lavender and Parvati read Witch Weekly. They know he's won the Most Charming Smile award. Hermione likes a project, and without Harry and Ron providing one, I think her new thing is impress Lockhart. And what would impress Lockhart? Well, he's a monster hunter who is trying to find the Chamber of Secrets and identify what's inside. How cool would it be, if they were the ones who helped him? He'd write about them in his next book.

So I think the Polyjuice Potion plan (Hermione's idea) is still a go. She might even talk Lavender and/or Parvati into helping out. (I mean, they joined the DA. They're up for some rulebreaking.) Hermione would still turn herself into a cat, which would actually massively humanize her in the eyes of her roommates, and I think they all end up much better friends in this AU. Eventually, one of them does manage to Polyjuice into Pansy, which is a much more effective way of interrogating Draco. And by this point, Hermione has met Myrtle, and has enough info to solve the mystery, and even bring her findings to Lockhart. Who ah. Finds an excuse to just run. There's a very fun portion of the year where Dumbledore teaches DADA.

I don't see all that much about Book 3 changing until the climax - because the crew Harry takes down to Hagrid's after dark *would* be different. Neville, Ginny (not the Twins - I think they give Harry the Map and peace out, they've got their own stuff going on and don't want to hang out with their much younger sister.) Maybe Theo? I could see him taking on a very Hermione-ish support role by this point.

But this also causes a problem, because if Ron isn't there, Scabbers isn't with him. And if Scabbers isn't with Ron - I don't think Remus notices Peter on the map, and so just stays inside and drinks his Wolfsbane, which means Snape doesn't go down. And since Sirius' target was never *actually* Harry... I think this is just a universe where Sirius first-degree-murders Peter, and doesn't have a confrontation with Harry at all.

I do think Voldemort still comes back though. Trelawney would still have made her prophecy ("His servant has been chained these twelve years. Tonight, before midnight... the servant will break free and set out to rejoin his master.") In this universe, that prophecy would refer to Barty jr, finally throwing off the Imperius curse for the first time.

Bertha Jorkins still goes on her trip to Albania, and... Voldemort probably just possesses her the same way he did Quirrell. I bet that's easier to do after someone's been sort of fried by a memory wipe. Also, being in her head, I have to assume he's eventually gets some inkling of the fact that Barty is still alive, and so goes looking for him. Harry still goes to the Quidditch World Cup since she's friends with Ginny, her scar is still hurting (she probably writes to Lupin about this, instead of Sirius, but Lupin gives her pretty similar advice. He will have still left Hogwarts, because Snape would still have outed him as a werewolf at the end of the year.)

Harry still ends up as Champion. I think Big Sister Fleur would be a little more protective of Fem!Harry than Canon!Harry. And also... Harry just straight-up has a crush on handsome, nice, good at Quidditch Cedric. Rita could write about the Harry/Cedric/Cho love triangle, instead of Harry/Hermione/Krum.

The Yule Ball would actually be kind of a big deal for Fem!Harry. Up until now, she's been kind of a tomboy who wears Dudley's hand-me-downs... and is occasionally forced into some terrible 'party dress' when Aunt Marge visits. Harry's best friends are a boy and a tomboy, her quidditch teammates are feminine role-models but very much athletes: 'girly' hyper-femininity is something she associates with Aunt Petunia.

But, fourth year roles around. Mrs. Weasley buys her a set of emerald-green dress robes that actually look really nice, and she needs to find a date for the ball. I think she thinks about asking Cedric... but chickens out at the last minute, and asks Neville to go with her as a friend. Between her much more girly roommates, and Fleur taking pity on her and giving her some tips... I think Hermione's big Yule Ball glow-up is also Harry's first experience with wanting to look pretty, and succeeding.

I think it would be fun, and make sense, if this lead into a little secret admirer subplot. Someone is leaving her little gifts and messages, and she's thinking - is it Neville? Theo? Cedric?

(it was Draco. Instead of the blast-ended skrewts, Hagrid has them all taking care of Harry's basilisk, and like... she has a basilisk... she's the Heir of Slytherin... she asked Longbottom to the ball when she could do so much better... she was wearing green and looking perfect. Draco's Harry obsession has sorted itself out into a very serious crush.)

Back to the main plot. With Peter dead, I'm not sure Barty would be able to take care of Voldemort AND prep the ritual to bring him back to life AND impersonate Moody. He's going to need a man on the inside. I think at first he tries to use his father - but as we know that is going to get very risky very fast, because Barty Sr is remarkably good at fighting the Imperius curse, and also just knows way too much. He's a huge risk, because if he goes rouge, he'll tell Dumbledore everything (which is very nearly what happens.)

So I think Barty Jr. targets Barty Sr.'s assistant Percy Weasley, after he can no longer control his father. Uses him as a way to affect things in Hogwarts. He might imperius him, but he also might just like... Polyjuice himself into his father for short periods, and manipulate Percy in a non-magical way to make sure he helps Harry, and gets her through the maze to the cup first. Once Percy realizes what he's done... I think he re-commits to his family in penance, and stops being a such a Ministry man.

Voldemort rising works as kind of a reset button, so things would start looking a lot more canon again, only with Ron and Hermione swapped out for Ginny and Neville. Main difference being, Voldemort has Barty now. I absolutely think he would have survived Book 4.

So I'm going to leave this what-if here for now. Thanks for the ask, this was a lot of fun to think about.

Time for this group. I haven't read much up on them, so it will be interesting to see what they share here and if they will share much, let's dive in.

Okay, this group had some tea, one of the most interesting groups so far to read for in this series.

Taeyong

Weird message here, but I wonder if this dude wonders about the afterlife and explore that, or plays with that idea. I am not sure what that means, but the page of wands with the death card, not sure how else to take that. This could also mean he would want something to end. Maybe the fact that he feels trapped and stuck. I see him wanting to step out in a sense of the bubble he is in.

I can see this dude being highly spiritual or into the esoteric stuff. I can see him being offered these drinks. Now, this woman can be a love interest, that tries to help him out, but these drinks do offer him access to fame and success, how not sure, is she the gateway? Do these drinks have magical things in them or it is some sort of magic to boost his fame, but also it helps to stabilize him.

I can see him getting caught up in some shady shit. To him he may feel he had no choice. He might be starting to see the light, but he is tied up to some things. I just look at the hanged man, and that gives me his hands were tied, but we have the devil card next to it. I just heard, my hands are tied and I had to do it. I mean this could do with things they contractually have to do, behind the scenes.

I asked for more for this Devil card. It does seem he is pretty tied to money and wanting to pursue it, which the devil card could mean as well. There seems to be a constant battle for the top, or he has to compete and knock down his competition, this could be with people, maybe his members within the company. But he is kind of showing me he wants to wipe the slate clean and change things, maybe break this cycle.

Interesting tidbits here. I don't have a clear understanding of what I got here, but I don't know much about these members, so it was hard for me to piece these together. But this was interesting stuff here. Moving on.

Johnny

Omg, they are really going to give me this spread. Basically, what this spread gives me is this man will sleep with anyone to get what he wants and get ahead, that is all folks, that is the tea. I have the Chariot, which means movement and advancement. Then I have the 2 of wands, which indicate in this type of reading, sex with others, to the knight of wands, which is to me indicates pursuing it. To the 4 of Swords, this is a man naked on a clouded bed, so that also gives me sleeping with others. We finalize with the 4 of cups, this man can be pretty emotionally numb. It is very hard for him to find excitement and joy. He may even sleep with others to try to find that, but to no avail.

There is someone he is after or he is trying to attack or defend himself against. They could have betrayed him. They seem to be at odds. Not sure if this is him or the other person, but they can be a bit of a bully and maybe verbally abusive as well. They can also be pretty shady and sneaky.

I will say he is a strong and powerful man in his own right. It would be hard to bring him down or make him feel small, if someone tries. Unless he is the one bullying others. But he has strong dominant energy, very hard to tame as well. He seems like he wants to do his own thing. I don't see him following rules and falling in line as easily as most idols. This could be due to him growing up in the States, rather than in S.Korea and not having this mindset of following orders and their elders so easily.

Yuta

I see him making some sort of pact to gain the success he has. This connection has helped him gain exposure and gave him the tools to get to where he is at now. He is contemplating what more to do with his career. What opportunities he can take to open the doors to make more money. It seems he doesn't think he makes much money now, so trying to figure out how to gain more.

I had to ask more about the 2 of cups, got the KOP's, so it was a deal with a man of power, the CEO. This is interesting, I wonder if he had to take these drinks, or they both took them together, maybe this is regular drinks, but I asked for tea, anyway this kind of helped free his mind and relieve stress. It kind of gave him a boost to be more positive and energetic and reduce any stress he may have. It motivates him to keep moving. Like I can hear someone say, take this, all your worries will go away, and they both take it together.

Hmm, is his Mom an entertainer, does she make music? I got the 6 of cups, which is the past, but also passing down something to someone. I asked for clarifiers and got the Empress (Mom energy), the Queen of Wands (someone creative) and the knight of swords (communication). So, he may have been pushed by his Mom to do this, like she passed down the baton. I want to know who his Mom is. Interesting. You know how parents like to live vicariously through their children, like if they couldn't succeed, they will push their child, it gives me that vibe.

Doyoung

Hmm, I feel like a lot of opportunities he may want he gets rejected from it. There could be a lot he wants to do but faces disappointment a lot. I think he would like it to have more solo work and build his own money. It is like his hands are tied and he just accepts for now that he can't get much work. It is like he sees others get many opportunities, but it doesn't roll out to him, so he gets upset about that. It is like he has to learn to be satisfied and content with what he has. I can see him indulging in things for a need to escape his struggles, whatever that vice may be.

So, I asked why he doesn't get opportunities, well easy, he doesn't give in to this QOW's, as they are supposed to bow down to these older females and males. He is pretty stubborn and hard to crack. From her perspective he can be hard to work with. He can be defensive. He also knows what he wants and the vision he has and doesn't back down on it. He kind of comes off too powerful for her liking and maybe demanding. I also see him less likely to do some weird shady shit too, so that could knock him down a few points for these weirdos that run stuff.

I think they like to keep him small and don't want him to get too bigheaded. I can see a bit of arrogance from his energy, so he can have that, maybe a bit of entitlement, so I can see their point to, but the people in power also don't like the idols to have a voice and speak up either, so I don't blame him for standing up against them. But yeah, to them he isn't the easiest to work with. He doesn't give in as easily.

Jaehyun

Either his Mom helped him get through the door and find success, or he was also someone who slept with an older female to get where he needs to go. Or this woman really likes him and does things to help him succeed. Okay, asked for more clarifiers for the Empress. It seems they are part of the company. He does seem at odds with her at the moment and doesn't want to be around this person.

He seems to be pretty serious about his career. He may feel like he can't trust others and ices people out. He kind of seems distant. He tends to conserve his money and his career. He doesn't really like to take chances and likes to have control of himself and his resources.

I see him not getting involved with the messiness and drama of the industry, the parties, those drinks, he wants no part of it. It is like people in his circle or around him, like to cause problems, or they come to him as trying to be kind, but they are trying to start trouble, and he tries to block them out.

I just see him not trying to get involved with the trickery and foolery within the industry. He may be one of them who doesn't party or take those mysterious concoction of drinks they tend to offer. It is like these people like to surprise them and keep them on their toes. Also, wonder if he got someone pregnant, or people want to get pregnant by him and tried, that is coming up to.

Jungwoo

He seems to be someone who has a lot of motivation and drive. A very passionate person on a mission to achieve something. He seems to be someone who act on impulse and may have a point to prove for some reason. He seems like a strong person mentally and physically to endure anything that comes his way and handle the craziness of the industry.

I say he pours himself into his career and fame. He seems to like it and desire it and loves to be in the spotlight. There is some tactics he does to purify himself, not sure what that means, but getting that from this Star card. He seems driven to expand and grow as an artist. He seems to want to work with overseas artist, or he wants to try new things.

He may be showing me how cutthroat, petty and competitive the industry is, and that people hurt others and break them down a lot. People can betray them even their closest allies. He may feel limited, unable to fully express himself, or feels trapped. And he seems burdened by a lot of responsibility. He tends to try to put his head down and do the work as he is determined to succeed and be famous.

They may also hang out and party together and have fun, but they can also not have your best interest at heart. It is like you can't fully trust the people your around. As everyone has their own back and their own interest. Someone is always willing to knock you down to gain success. So, overall, it is cutthroat and competitive, and he can't truly trust others.

Mark

Oh, this one is going to be hard, not liking the messages here. This dude could be a sex fiend, but also has some attachment to a dude, is he not straight? I question that. He could be into dudes after all. I wasn't sure if this KOC's was him or someone else and got the Devil, 2 of cups and 3 of pentacles, so this is another person. I am not sure this person is a good influence on him. He can be toxic and emotionally manipulative. He seems to work with this person, as I also got the three of pentacles.

I see him being sexually attracted to this person, but I can also see it as him having a plan to go after this person or he is angry at this person. He feels foolish and naive. I think he felt like he made a mistake with this person. Mark has a bit of a careless energy, or can jump into things without thinking, so he may meet the wrong people or get involved with the wrong people. It is like he is showing me he made a mistake and sometimes, I heard think with his dick, going with that, but also, he doesn't think things through before pursuing things.

I see him wanting to step away move on and reflect on the things that transpired. He is kind of over it. And wants to remove himself from the situation. This could be the same person, but I see him wanting to go after or cause havoc on this person, or some person in power. A controlling figure. He may have made him do things that he may not have wanted to do. And this dude is a master manipulator, so he tricked him to do things. But I see him wanting to create problems for this person.

Oh crap, that was interesting. I will stop there he gave me tea here. Good luck with that Mark. I feel like this dude was bamboozled.

Haechan

Sometimes I do not like the tea I get, this was straight forward, off the bat for me. I get he may have been sexually assaulted. I was getting a stronger word, but wasn't comfortable saying it, but another word for sexually assaulted that is used.

He seemed to be able to build his money and career on his own and stand on his own. But I am getting at what price did he have to get all that he has and the success he was able to create on his own. He kind of reflects on what he has and what it took to get it.

He seems devastated by what has happened to him. He seems guarded, defensive and jaded by the industry. He seems pretty worn and beat down from it all. I feel this QOW's could be him, or the person who may have assaulted him, but feels more like him. I see him shining in his own right, getting attention. But there is drama behind the scenes and a lot of competition as well, and aggression. It is like sometimes he foolishly steps into it.

Or he is like unaware of the drama and fighting around him. He seems carefree and nonchalant about things. He does seem to keep to himself and keep things in control. I am not sure he gets involved with the fighting and drama. He is very reserved and conservative with his time and space. He seems closed off. He kind of keeps to himself. He seems to hold on to his career and money very tightly.

I see him feeling regretful and shame. I see him wanting to speak up or fight back, but I do see timidness and hesitancy with him to do so. But also, this unwillingness to address what has happened. Or maybe share what has happened in the past. It is like he doesn't want to think about it too much.

Okay, this was very interesting. They didn't hold back, and it was pretty easy to get information from them. Kind of excited to see what the Dream members share and if they will be as forthcoming.

finally finished!! god took me 2 days but it was worth it, i decided took Telly around the multiverse, so they could be cheered up by various Mr. Puzzles on their way!

SMGP made a meme with Telly, they sure enjoyed the meme this meme guardian did, who doesn't love a cute Capybara meme!? they're cute and have a dumb face! SMGP is proud of that meme and made Telly a bit more happy!

Woah! Rainbows!! Trickster sure knows how to cheer up innocent kids, with his magic he would do lot of colorful and sparkling rainbows and maybe even make em float, or have fun with some fun games Trickster can summon! does Telly love rainbows? 😊

Guardian of Popstar used the Circus ability (from Kirby Triple Deluxe) so he could do tricks of juggling for the little guy! they seem have fun, Guardian of Popstar not much- but at least he's making them happy that's matter! (no Dedede was injured after Telly left, no no-)

Trivia shows Telly about the multiverse, is surprising Telly is interested on what Trivia does, lol normally no one is interested on what he does, but they do, maybe all this traveling made them curious 🤔 whatever it was, Trivia is more than happy to teach the little guy all he knows!

Doll Puzzles is mute as well, but hey, that won't stop him of try be the adult in this situation (since he is a kid as well on soul, he died at 9 years old) to cheer up Telly, he told them by writing to draw the thing makes them happy, they of course draw their dad! how cute, Doll Puzzles approves! that's how two mute tv headed kids spend their moment together i guess! hope Telly feels a bit better with that therapy

for finish the tour, KuromiPuzzles2000 says some motivational words to Telly...she knows well how is live away from the family, but she gives hope to the little guy that soon they'll see their dad, and gave them a plush! for remember their journey on the different multiverses

It's hard to tell, if Mr. Buddy is Mr. Fujisaki or spyware. Either way it doesn't really matter.

Unfortunately both Inori and Ando fled into medbay to avoid the fight and they could have easily contacted Ise while there as there is an communicator in the medbay.

There's also something else to consider as well; the Anons.

While we won in the end...the Anons didn't make things easy...and they could summon even more stuff to get in our way.

Yes I could do that but there is one problem...

If I block the Anons...I will be unable to use my magic since I cannot focus on hacking and magic at the same time. Especially something as advanced as blocking the Anons.

Oh yeah that is a issue...either keep your magic but then the Anons can mess with us, or stop the Anons but then you would be defenceless.
