The main reason the main Motley comic has gone on hiatus is just so I can build a better backlog of chapters, and I'm already feeling much more secure about it overall lol. there's a ringing in your ears as you sit in the back seat of your uber. you were right next to the speakers at the club and you sure paid the price for it. worth it tho. your feet hurt, you're cold, and you're excited to head home

you've just moved to be close to the base that simon's stationed at and you were out for a night on the town with some other girls you've met. but eventually, the night comes to a close and everyone's gotta go their separate ways. and you're going home to simon <3

you step out of the uber and walk up the steps to the apartment you share with him. simon elected to stay home tonight, wanting you to have fun with your girls tonight ('s alright, lovie, trust you to be safe 'n have fun tonigh'). you stumble into your apartment and kick off your heels, your feet throbbing.

"lovie," you hear from the couch.

you let out a hiccup as you stumble over to simon rising up from the couch. he had stayed up to wait for you and had drifted off for a bit. good, you thought to yourself, you felt bad having simon stay up to welcome you home but you also knew that there's no way he would sleep without making sure you were back home safe.

"hi simmy," you greeted softly. you only called him simmy when you are absolutely wasted.

before simon can sit up from the couch, you kneel down next to it and plant kiss on his forehead.

"you wanna go to bed now?" you ask.

"aye should be askin' you tha'" he replied. "told ya to text me so i can come pick you up"

you giggle. "yeah, issokay simmy, i didn't wanna bother you"

"you're never a bother lovie."

"i wanna go-" a yawn slips out of you "-sleep."

as simon sits up, you stand up and wobble over to the bedroom to get cleaned up and changed into pajamas (one of simon's old t-shirts and a clean pair of panties) and crawl into the large bed you share with him.

and simon climbs in next you with a glass of water. "drink up first," he asks of you, hanging you the glass.

and because its him, you do drink the glass of water. and simon watches you and gets up and fill it up again so itll there when you wake up.

simon hold you close as you curl up against him. he's glad to have you home and safe <3

I sat in bed, rolling and squirming, unable to sleep, the day was horrible, nightmares plagued me, each time I fell asleep it was only for a minute or less.. soon these visions, plagues, all of them were too much, I began to cry softly just wanting a good nights sleep.. A hand tapped my shoulder and I turned to see a tired claggor, goggles around his neck, only in his white t-shirt he wears under all his layers and some pijama pants, I sniffled.

"S-Sorry.. Im just-"

"Its okay, I gotcha." I was cut off abruptly and he gently climbed in with me, holding me close to him, my tears continued but I tried to stay quiet, although this didnt alarm him, all he did was hold me tighter and gently run his fingers though my hair.

"You dont gotta hide it.. y/n.. you can cry as loud as you want.. mylo sleeps like a rock.. vis knocked right out tired from the day.. and well. Powder doesnt wake up unless theres a fire.. Im the only one who'll hear you.." his words made me calmer, safer.

"I dunno if i-i want to cry anymore.."

"Glad to hear that babe.." he kissed my forehead softly, I played with the strap of his goggles gently, sniffling as my tears died down, he rubbed my back and tilted my chin up to him

"Whats wrong." I'd expected this from him, I frowned and pressed my head to his chest, feeling his heart beat

"I cant sleep.. without dreaming of them.. my parents.. that day.. I know I have to get over it but.. I just cant."

"You dont have to get over shit. We all.. we all have our monsters.. its only reasonable you have yours.. But itll be okay.. one day on your own time.. you'll be able to move on.. make your own family.. we. Will make our own family.." his words rang in my ears and I smiled up at him

"You really know how to talk to a lady huh." My words made him hold back laughter, snickers and chuckles escaped and I smiled even wider, his teeth glowed in each smile.

"What a pretty boy I see.."

"Don't flatter me!" He smirked down at me "I know your tricks ya little fox.. now.. lets get to sleep huh..?"

"Okay.. as long as you stay next to me.."

"Why wouldnt I?" He planted one last kiss on my lips and rested his head on the pillow we shared, I closed my eyes listening to just his breath, relaxing, this time as I fell asleep, my dreams couldnt be less peaceful..

it`s the start of a new day!

the sun shines and the birds sing, the air carries the smell of freshly bloomed flowers as spring begins. As the neighborhood becomes awake and busy, wally opens homes door to greet the outside, a smile on his face with a canvus and several bottles of paint in his arms. it was the perfect day to paint he believed "ill be back later home, see you soon!" he speaks to the house as he makes his way out the open door, with a creak and a squeak in response home shuts its door for wally as he had his hands full. what a nice home.

several minutes goes by as wally walks down the yellow pavement, passing by houses and work places of his fellow neighbors. until he spots it, a home that is decorated in a new design compared to yesterday. it`s still wet from fresh paint and the plants in the property was replaced with different plants, a garden gnome that was once there yesterday was replaced with a plastic flamingo and different colored stepping stones. it is the house of his beloved, a wonderful person...or people they are. he wonders who they are today, maybe a florist? or even a baker? whatever they may be today he will love them all the same.

while drawing closer to the house he noticed a person laying in the grass, face planted in the ground with their hair a mess and still wearing pajamas like it is not day just yet. wally drops his painting supplies in shock and runs over to his beloved, his felt heart racing at the thought that they have hurt themselves and he wasn`t here to help "my dear?” wally says as he slightly shakes them, fear gripping his heart....only for him to let out a sigh of relief when the puppet made a sound that resembles a groan and the muffled words "five more minutes".

wally chuckles a bit at his beloveds antic and shakes them again "sweetheart you should be sleeping in your bed, not the grass" wally says in a sweet voice, causing the puppet to turn their head to the side so wally can hear them "i wanted to sleep on my roof but i couldnt find my ladder" they said in a joking tone, it makes wally smile that they are ok. "let me help you up" wally suggested as he helps them off the ground, his beloved lets out a big yawn and rubs their eye, wally now noticed dark circles around their eyes, like they have not slept in days "oh dear, lets get you inside and into bed. itll be much better then the grass" wally stated as he leads them to their own front door "what about your paint stuff?" they asked as they saw the pile of paint supplies wally dropped moments ago, followed by another yawn "it`s not going anywhere" wally says "besides, you are more important" he added to his statement before he leads them inside.

it didn`t take long for wally to take them to their room so they can sleep in their bed, the layout of the home was the only thing that always remained the same each day. he watches as they crawl into their own bed only for them to look in wallys direction and beckons him to come closer, wally does walk over only to expect a goodbye kiss on the cheek. when instead they grabbed his hand to pull him in the bed with them "whoa!" he says in surprise as he now rests on the soft mattress full of many pillows and blankets…with his beloved wrapping their arms around him "stay with me? please? just until i fall asleep" they mumbled, already half way asleep.

wally can feel his heart speed up and his cheeks grow warm, he wouldn`t mind this but it was still a big surprise. he wraps his arms around his beloved "ill stay" he says in a whisper, not wanting to wake them up further by talking in a normal tone. it takes only five minutes for them to finally fall sleep, lightly snoring and their limbs go limp as they relax into their deep slumber. wally wouldn’t dare to move, he would give anything for this moment to last forever, but he knows that soon you both will have to get up and continue the day.

he stares at the nightstand, seeing a alarm clock reading 10:37 and still ticking... maybe a nap couldn't hurt, just 30 minutes longer...and he will then get up and do his daily painting… that sounds nice...

he slowly closes his eyes, being careful not to accidentally 'eat' one of the many trinkets in the room...and eventually...falls into a long blissful sleep.

THE DAY you found out your boyfriend was cheating on you was the day a little piece of your heart died.

it was busy night at the bar you worked at, some old woman complained every three fucking minutes about her shriley temple, a teenage boy trying to get alcohol at the ripe age of 17 called you a slut for not going through with the transaction.

you were exhausted and all you really wanted to is go home to your boyfriend; mingyu and him to tell you did good today, that you looked beautiful despite the sticky stain on your black top and the grease in your hair.  that’s all you wanted, truly. now that you thought about it your boyfriend never texted you back when you asked him about a late dinner.

opening white gate to your home you frown when you see another car in your drive-way. your small black cat could be seen in the window by the entrance starring directly at you, tail whipping behind her almost angrily. sighing you pulled out the keys you hated when mingyu had invited friends over and not informed you.

unlocking the door, you frowned even harder if that was possible when you didn’t find him on the couch where he usually resides to jump up and greet you with so much love. “mingyu?” you called as you set down your car keys and bag slipping out your shoes grunting gently as your tired feet plants on your hard wood floor.

 mingyu didn’t answer your call which had kind of irritate you because you knew he was up he was always up at this time, walking towards your bedroom as you closed in you began to hear noises, noises that sounded like his groans when he bedded you

that's when your heart started to pound in your chest and your breathing seemed to stop you knew what was happening behind that door you but wanted to believe otherwise.  

throwing the door open what was unfolding in front of you was worse than the absolute shitty day you had it was worse than first hangover you got the freshmen year of college, worse then the day you crashed your first car it frankly made you sick.

mingyu was huffing and groaning profusely, the sweat that glistened and shined off his inked back that you loved to observe when he exercised was then twisted into the worst image that your eyes ever lied on.   

the girl who you recognized to be one of his clients, the girl who you were told to not worry about when she requested for mingyu to tattoo her where its most sensitive. the blonde girl screamed when she snapped out of the trance that mingyu put her in and that seemed to make him snap out of it as well.

“yn!” he shouted eyes widening with shock

you stood there numb, see if you could cry at the moment, you would but instead you looked mingyu in the eye and opened your mouth to say fiercely “you got two and a half seconds to get out my motherfucking house mingyu”

he looked at you and winced as if the words you spoke hurt him which was rich to say the least. and he grabbed his pants and sprinted out the door glancing down at you briefly regret written all over his soft features.

the blonde girl who name you didn’t care to knowledge followed his suite bowing quietly

just as you heard the front door slam you walked to your bathroom and peeled the damp clothes off and a part of you wanted to sleep in his hoodie but you couldn’t do it tiredly you slid onto the tiled floor and that’s when you wept you were hurt, although your pride wouldn't let you showcase it to mingyu yet you were so deeply hurt.

sobbing on the cold floor you secretly wished that you wasn't there to witness the scene because mingyu had more of half of your heart in his very own chest he was the reason why the other half was still beating. 

 but right now, you felt dead and mingyu killed you without remorse took the very light he provided in your life, in your eyes and blew it out.

youu tried your best to be his person to be his sun but you weren’t enough. and as your heavy lids fell the last thing you thought to yourself was if he was ever satisfied with you. 

the next morning, you woke up with an aching pain in your chest, which was fitting but your whole body as well. “son of a bitch” you croaked pulling yourself up you felt like you weighed twice your size, looking in the mirror you looked like you’ve been hit by a truck.

suddenly your door slammed causing you to drop your toothbrush cautiously you stalked out your bedroom to see mingyu wearing the sweater you got him a few weeks ago hands stuffed in the pockets on the back of his pants “yn-”

he started as he came closer to you. crossing your arms and sniffling you held back tears a large lump settling in your throat.

“i just don’t really get it you know? i mean, i thought we were happy?” he looked at the ground his eyes welling up as he lowered himself to his knees

“ we are happy! i’m so fucking sorry baby I don't know what came over me” you wanted to forgive him, wiping your tears with the back of your hand you stepped over him and went into the kitchen, he followed closely gripping your wrist gently “what do i need to do for you to forgive me yn..please”

you didn't pull away from his touch but it didn’t feel comforting like it used to hiding your face you sighed shakily “i don’t know” you couldn’t even face him let alone for forgive him “i’ll do anything baby” finally you turn to face him and took his hand off of

“just give me time” you say quietly as you walk to your coffee machine behind your back mingyu smiles to himself feeling hopeful sitting down at the small dinner table you had bought together waiting on you to finish

and in your head, you know forgiving him is a lost cause, but you can’t image being without him for he is all you have.

3. bronya had a huge wattpad/ao3 phase when she was a teenager and whenever she met seele and they had that cutscene in the underground where seele swore her loyalty to her, bronya was thinking "this is just like the fanfictions i read"

4. gepard is homophobic and serval is bisexual. i wont be taking any questions on this

5. gepard likes cheez its a little too much

6. if you see sampo at the gym and try to look at what hes listening to while he works out he will clock you in the jaw because hes embarrassed about his extensive katy perry playlist

7. jing yuan procrastinates on missions by playing board games. the world could be ending and this man would be playing monopoly cross-legged on the floor

8. stelle is on a mission to get someone to revive that species of banana thats used in artificial banana flavoring (you know, the one that got that plant plague and mostly died off)

9. march 7th has brought several animals onto the astral express and kept them as pets just to see how long itll take dan heng, himeko, or welt to discover, and shes roped stelle into her schemes. the longest time shes been able to keep something was the time she took a lizard on board for 2 weeks, and she was only caught because it crawled away into welts room

how'd you get good at environment art? i've been tossing around the idea of going into concept art, but i've been afraid of getting into environments. what would you suggest to start out with to someone new to it?

learn perspective!!

its not as hard as it may seem once you understand how vanishing points and horizon lines work. i was lucky enough to be taught perspective when i was young and now im trying to get good at doing it free hand. i never liked how Perfect using rulers and grids made things feel, and by doing it free hand i feel like it adds back that more organic feeling that a real environment has

sometimes the vanishing point isnt even in the frame. my trick is to put my scene in a box. the box itself gives the perspective lines for you to follow and you can still imagine where the vanishing points are or even draw them if you Can see it. something about the box method just really helps me visualize the space im working in. ground, sky, and depth. and put a grid on it! in perspective!! itll really help with visualizing depth. heres an example of what i mean:

straight lines!! i dont know why because it kind of contradicts my last statement about perfect vs organic 💀 but using a straight line tool changed the game for me. on CSP i just turn my post correction all the way up and it makes my lines straight which i prefer so i can still use the same pen and im not locked to a grid. i'll turn it off for organic things in the environment like plants and stuff, but for inorganic things i use straight lines and it always makes it feel Right to me. some people are good at drawing inorganic things freehanded and they still look Right (and leans into that organic environment feeling) but not me for some reason 💀 i love you post correction

UUHH hmm. another little note that isnt necessarily about backgrounds but definitely helps when i draw them is: draw the Effect of the detail, NOT the Exactness of it. especially when youre drawing an environment things are gonna get muddied as they get farther out of focus (hard edges and soft edges are important!! not everything needs to be crisply in focus and itll detract from where you Want people looking anyway if it is). dont think about what you Know the thing is supposed to look like, with all its details. its more about the Feeling of it. ie the Effect of it. with my sketchy style i have a lot of fun with this concept aha i love my scribbles :)

good luck anon!! i hope this helps you in some way!! 💕 also dont get too intimidated by actually drawing the objects in a scene. the box method works for individual objects too. i basically imagine everything as some kind of weird cube or cylinder 😂 break things down as simply as you can and work from there. AND USE REFERENCES
