such a long shot im embarrassed to even try but <:3

in 2017 i knew this artist whose username was qbark... i remember us only having a few conversations on discord, but they were really impactful to me, and we also did this art trade (this is my oc ronnie <:3)

I remember at the time I was feeling really discouraged about, at the time i was posting adopts on deviantart and they werent doing well... it felt like every piece i posted flopped and it was like... frustrating and upsetting, u know <:3? I remember expressing this to this artist who i at the time looked up to :3 ! and they told me... "i remember being on that strugglebus" ... and explained that they had gone through periods of time like that too, and basically, dont give up <:3 i cant convey the impact onto someone else now because it was so situational and important for me and... its not really my goal right now <:3

They deactivated their deviantart account and <:3 i have no idea what their usernames have been since.... i know they hadnt been qbark for Ages but T_T i cant remember any other username than that.... sending this piece out into the fray hoping that someone recognizes it or the style or username or Something even tho its such a tiny tiny chance... ue ue ue ....

i just wanna see their art again and TwT be able to communicate the sentiment Thank You .... it genuinely was so meaningful and impactful to hear :]

if it never gets to them . here is a piece of art of my oc Ronnie! :3 it was drawn in 2017! i remember really liking how straight up and postured they drew their characters, especially compared to how i drew back Then ... they told me they tend to sit up quite straight, and i noticed i hunched quite a lot :3 do you draw how much you hunch?

i know there are a lot of trans women that follow me so to all of you please please be kind to yourself and keep yourself healthy. if you can't do it for your own sake do it for the sake of the people that love you, i promise somebody loves you, and if you really feel like no one does then do it for me. it's easy for us to get so used to feeling ashamed that the shame feels like an inseparable part of you. i understand. loving yourself can feel wrong, insincere, but it's just a muscle that needs to be exercised. there will be ups and downs, but you can make yourself feel worthy of love, and i guarantee there are people who will love you - the whole you, with all your perceived faults, all the pain you carry. i don’t want to lose another one of us

No, your oc isn't too cringe or a Mary sue. Yes, it's completely fine that it looks similar to your other ocs. Yes it's completely fine that it looks similar to a Canon character design. No it's not uncreative. No the design isn't shitty. No the backstory doesn't have to make perfect sense or be all figured out. Yes it can be self indulgent or unrealistic or overly sappy. No you don't draw your favorite character too much. Yes you can flip flop between developing whatever characters you want. No you don't have to keep the parts of your character that you don't like or that make you uncomfortable just for the sake of consistency, realism or whatever else

i used inks + Ink wash in the past and its one of my favorite mediums :] i love that i get those pigmented edges & also can sooo easily control the values and get nice crisp lines etc etc etc...

you can find inks at craft stores, or order them online for not much ^w^ i would probably start with 2 colors or so u like, as opposed to a whole set if ur still thinking :] personally i got "Oxblood red" (from diamine) a really nice blue i dont remember the name of, and a black :3 you can stretch inks with water + clean up with rubbing alcohol. I found it to be pretty forgiving, but maybe not as forgiving as like, watercolor :3 [the worst part is if you drop a blot of ink on it T_T this happens to me sometimes.... grah]

i use a fountain pen (varying kinds, im sorry i dont have a recommendation at all for this <:3) and also a small paintbrush ^_^ put it in a little glass palette (I just like mine 2 be glass cuz its heavy and i dont wanna knock it over :[ ink spills!!! i have spilled so much ink T_T dont spill it on ur clothes) and it cleans out so easily :3!

i Recommend it and! i think its pretty easy to learn the curve of (as opposed to learning about, say, mixing paint -w-) to not just You but also anyone else considering it / anyone who wants to try a new medium :3 i find it pretty accessible and fun!

Have you considered trying painting w inks? It behaves similarly to water color +can be watered down for opacity and consistency, but I feel like it's a lil less finicky, and you can achieve nice hard edges w it :)) not too expensive either.

you read my mind because i was just looking into them earlier today since ive been seeing videos of artists using them!! im trying to get more info about them first so it isnt just another spontaneous purchase (like how ive talked myself out of acryla gouache for now even if the tubes are beautiful...) but it (the info) seems so limited -_- either way yeeees im so super interested
