Most weird hobbyists are trustworthy. Once you're in the community, you can treat them like your second family. Except better, because they won't judge you for having a weird hobby.
There is, however, the problem of money. Most hobbies cost money. Maybe you're buying some ancient junk that a long-dead civilization left behind, or you're trying to negotiate for a fair payment for some horrifying art you are constructing at the demand of a random person you've never met. And as we all know, money ruins everything. It destroyed our planet and killed the whales, and it breaks up friendships, too.
The reason why is simple. Money provides a quantifiable value on things. If you give someone five dollars worth of stuff, and you get three dollars in return, well, you're going to be at least two dollars worth of mad. Things get even worse when you're dealing with largely subjective things, like weird porn commissions or bricks of Garbage Pail Kids cards. How do you price them? Better to just trade things back and forth for free, and then enjoy companionship rather than worrying about money. Until the other jerk puts something you gave them on eBay.
There's only one solution: abolishing money entirely. By dumping all of your hobby cash into Switchbux™, you can trade confusing fetish content and handmade 'zines without having to worry about getting screwed over. How? Two ways. First, Switchbux™ has no numerical value. It's the world's first currency to be traded entirely on vibes. How much did you sell that for? Nobody knows, and importantly, nobody can tell. That's why you can't take Switchbux™ back out of the system and trade it for evil regular dollars, which is where this whole thing would fall apart. Bad feelings, don't do it.
You might ask yourself what I'm going to do with all these worthless dollars I am turning into arbitrary (and unknowable!) amounts of Switchbux™. Well, I'm going to show them to my buddies in my weird hobby. It's called "banking," and our thing for the year is to come up with the dumbest possible currency sca- actually, we haven't decided yet. Fucking Throckmorton Osgood III hasn't gotten back to anyone about the rules.

I haven’t made a pinned post in a while, but since it’s my birthday month and I’m struggling right now, I figured it’s a good time to make one.
First, let me introduce myself. I’m Jessie Lynn McMains, aka Rust Belt Jessie. I’m a writer (poetry and prose), artist, zine-maker, spoken word performer, occasional musician, small press publisher, and general jack of several creative trades. I’m queer—bi/mspec and nonbinary (I use they/them, she/her, and he/him pronouns). I’m disabled and neurodivergent, and the parent of two kiddos. Politically? Well, I consider myself an anarchist at heart, but I still vote in every election. I think everyone should be able to have enough food, and a safe place to live, and yeah, even a few ‘unnecessary,’ fun things, just by virtue of being alive. As for the rest of my beliefs, you can probably garner a general idea if you peruse my blog even a little.
Tumblr media
Now, onto the nitty-gritty. We had about ten days between when our last month’s food money ran out and when this month’s came in. It has been refilled as of today, so I don’t have to worry about that for the moment, but because of that gap, I had to spend money I’d set aside for other stuff on food. I paid our rent and energy bill for the month, but I’m a couple months overdue on our Internet bill, and I don’t want to risk that getting shut off. And then, well, it’s December. I’m trying to buy my kids some Christmas presents, and it’s not just my birthday month—my youngest kiddo’s birthday is four days before Christmas. Because of all this, I’m also way behind on writing stuff. I owe my zine subscribers a new issue (I didn’t send anything at all in November), and I’m trying to finish up some pieces to record for my new spoken word EP, but I’ve had to focus on day job and side-hustle stuff that’s more immediately lucrative, so I haven’t been able to dedicate much time to finishing these projects.
If you’d like to throw some $$ my way so I can get some gifts for my kiddos, keep my Internet on, get back to my writing, and maybe have a less-stressful birthday month than I did last year, I have V*nmo (JessieLynnMcMains) and P*yp*l (coeur.de.fantome [at] gmail[dot]com).
But hey, hey, I’m not just asking for something for nothing! I have a lot of stuff available on Ko-fi (rustbeltjessie), including print books and zines, ebooks and zines, and pins, and you can also hire me as an editor or commission a custom mini-collage. And almost everything is sliding scale/pay-what-you-can, some with a minimum price, others starting at $0.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that zine subscription? It’s still not too late to get in on it, even though the year is almost over. If you sign up now, you’ll receive all previous issues, along with this month’s when it’s finished, and the final two will be mailed out in January.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or perhaps you’d like to buy or commission something I don’t officially have for sale. Maybe you’d like to buy one of my existing pieces of art? Or commission a custom pin, designed by me, based on the band/film/fandom/whatever of your choice? Or commission a custom postcard poem/art piece, on the subject of your choice? Or have me write you a custom mini-zine, on the subject of your choice? I can do all those things! DM me, and we’ll work something out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, and I mentioned above that I was working on a new spoken word EP? Go check out my full-length spoken word album, Self-Portrait With Ghosts and Trains, which was released by Hello America Stereo Cassette in July 2021. You can find it at helloamerica.bandcamp.com. (I do get royalties from that release periodically, but it’s not as immediate as if you purchase something directly from me.)
Tumblr media
All that said, I know times are tough for most people right now, so please don’t feel obligated to purchase anything or otherwise send money my way. And, as always, even just a few dollars helps, as does reblogging/boosting this post. 🖤

Hi! I was wondering if you have ever participated in a [for profit] fandom zine.
[If you did] Knowing you're also italian, I was wondering if I could ask a couple of questions, privately of course, regarding the economic aspects/technicalities of it, as I was pondering joining one as a gig but I'd rather know what I'm getting into first.
If you didn't take part in any or don't feel comfortable answering just skip this dw :-)
[Btw I really love your art. I first saw your klance comic last year and it got me into watching voltron, but I mostly followed you for genshin. I really like how *soft* you make the characters look, it gives fuzzy/comfy vibes <3]
helloo, I don't join zines very often but it happened a couple times yeah (I think the current one I'm in is for profit)
aksjd the italian™️ technicalities 😭 lmao it's ok I can tell u in general lines, they're regular zines, once they finish print and shipment and get all their funds stuff in order you'll get a cut of the profit depending from number of sales and number of participants it's getting split with, this can happen well over 1 yr later your original sign up with the zine, so consider it more as an occasional extra like a one off commission/gig rather than a reliable source of income if that's what ur wondering?
I'd say choose zines depending if you like the topic and how it's being organized! whether there's a significant profit or any profit even, depends from too many variables to really make specific predictions, so I think that's most of it but you can Dm me if you have other questions lool (and glad u like the genshin!)

November update post thing
Tumblr media
Drawing of me watching short-form video content without sound vs one where I am lol
If you use short-form video platforms of any kind and would like to help me with my survey you can do so here! Though I'll probably be closing it sometime next week (2nd November 2024 ish) to collate the data for submission.
I've got a metric tonne of deadlines due next week but you know what it's blog update time!!
This is also not going to be scheduled to post because I usually write these on the 29th but I forgot! So it's getting posted now!!
💀 School..
Yeap as I've said I'm in school so that's still in progress, I have completely no idea what I'm doing everyday and as it turns out no time to worry about it either I got deadlines baby!!!
Tumblr media
I mean in theory I understand but it's all a big question mark to me, like i need to be reassured like a nervous dog that I'm doing the right thing and what not
And because of that I'm real sorry about pushing the Abacelsus zine to the back burner, I actually got quite a lot of it done before I had to lock in for school of course.
And though I said I had a lot of sketches I didn't post well they were shittier than I liked them to be so I wanted to make it look nicer. Oh well dems the breaks.
Tumblr media
Another screenie of my school work, they didn't really go into depth about how to specifically design stuff so it's basically me frankenstien-ing stuff I've seen existing and just trying my best lol
I mean.. overall it's funnnn... i guess... I do like projects but everyone in my class are adults with established jobs or goals. Even those who are around my age seem to know what they're aiming for too, feels like I'm an unemployed little sucker fumbling in the dark. Can be humiliating I won't lie, why is learning something new so embarrassing?
Aside from that I'm seeing people be so social online while studying too and it's almost mesmerizing, it's definitely survivor bias but those that can balance it are fascinating to me.
📖Anthology Update
Agh enough of that debbie downer bullshit, I'll tell you what I've also got due next week! That's right!! The drafts for my anthology!
Tumblr media
Screenie of one of the panels I posted onto my ko-fi discord!
I'm not even half way done and it's due on the 6th of December. I'm beyond FUCKED. Anyway I can get it done by then but the school shit is sucking the life out of me through my ears.
☕ Ko-Fi Page
Deadlines aside I've also randomly launched my Ko-fi Membership page! I haven't quite had the time to properly promote it but it's there and I've been updating it every so often
I've got stuff up there already and comics of things that aren't polished (or sfw) enough for me to post. Especially if you're interested in my characters and would like to support me, here's a good hub to check all of it out!
The Ko-fi Discord updates the most frequently, basically every time I draw anything (Which is quite often!). The actual ko-fi gallery is only being updated every week to prevent spam.
Shout out to my one ko-fi member, wormfriend. Right now it's quite funny to have just the one but I definitely would like more so plz join!!! I promise I draw a lot!!!
🌯 Wrapping it up...
That's all I've got for you this month, real grind-y and uneventful but hey some moths are like that. I talked about opening my commissions again in December and I intend to keep that promise but as of yet the first week is not looking too hot haha. I'll consider it on the 7th but whuff it's real packed right now!
I don't have really anything else to say or add that isn't either
a) incredibly negative and self deprecating
or
b) cussing the shit out of disrespectful transphobic anonymous asks I've been getting
so I'm just going to end this hastily written blog update here and get back to work!
Tumblr media
I leave you with this cool down drawing of a honda civic and my attempts at a motorcycle that can also hover in the air.
As always thank you so much for reading and I've been so busy I haven't even had time to work on my annual redraw that's been sitting in my folders gah! If you’d like to support me, here’s my ko-fi page again and my itchi.io & gumroad as well.
If you have any questions or just generally want to talk to me, my DMs and askbox is always open! Any professional enquires can be sent towards my email as well: [email protected]
XOXO, Stay weird!
-Eliot :)

Hi y'all, I just wanted to talk a little about the behind the scenes of what I've been up to, to give y'all a little transparency and to open myself up for any tips or input! 🙏 Thank you for your continued support and for taking the time to look at my art 🫶
First and foremost I wanted to give some transparency about my art capacity.
As og followers may remember, I started this blog when I was doing art full time. Eventually my living expenses grew and I had to go back to work. I find myself in a cycle of "I'll make more art soon, once I get a job!" And "I'll make more art soon, once I am done with this job!" I lost my most recent job suddenly, having had an extension waved over my head until the last day(October 7th). Now I'm excited to have more time for art, but I am also feeling a rush to get a new job ASAP as I've been living paycheck to paycheck. I dream of doing this work full time, I'm just scared it's not quite there yet and I worry that I come off as scammy or dishonest when I anticipate more stability around the corner.
Second, I've been struggling with the Patreon. It's taken me a while to come to terms with this, but from what I've seen Patreon is not intuitive at all from the creator end. It doesn't do a good job of organizing addresses, emails, showing who or who isn't subscribed to me, or organizing and displaying the work I put on there. I've been really shocked by this experience, since lots of big names use Patreon. It's been a great way to streamline support, but it's been unhelpful in every other regard. I would like to continue using it, but I will most likely post more wips or process videos there in the future.
Which brings me to my third point, zines. I love making zines so much, it feels personal and fulfilling and fun! However the Patreon issues make it harder to keep information in order about where to send zines, or even where to message folks about them. In addition to this, the post office has been a big barrier to me, oftentimes only being open at the same time as my dayjob. Making zines can take days, then sending them out is a whole other monster.
This work is so important to me. Drawing peoples fantasies, representing body types, creating work around sexuality and the human experience feels like what I'm meant to do. I've made comics since I was a kid. This is the dream to me. The friends I've been able to make through this work are so important to me, and the conversations have been invaluable. Not to mention fun! I wanna doodle, I wanna draw hot stuff, I wanna thirst over these dudes! I want to play!
But I also just want to be transparent about the barriers I'm working around to share that experience. I'm completely self taught, both in art AND in running shops, building websites, running 8 accounts, etc. I take a lot of time to learn the logistics of these things, and try to make them make sense for my relationship with y'all (I do not want to paywall my art!! I don't want to!!!). This year my desktop broke down (the main one I use for all paintings and digital art). I've paused my Etsy shops and my Patreon to try to catch up with things. Trying to learn to paint in a completely different program. Then lost my job with no savings.
At the end of the day I don't want anything to come between me sharing my art with you. I wish I could doodle a thing, take a picture, and post it here. No third party site, no shop, no subscription. Just sharing my art with you. I promise I'm trying to figure out how to stay as close to that as possible, and I want to thank y'all for sticking with me as I untangle all of that.
So, what can you expect in the near future?
I'm working on a couple of painting commissions right now, which you should be able to see in the next couple of days! I want to catch up on kinktober and get those posted as well. There's a comic commission in progress which I'm very eager to work on, and which I think y'all will be excited for! To ease the weight of the Patreon I think I may do less zines/polls there and more wips and process videos! If possible, I want to do more full colored work too.
Thank you again for enjoying my work, and if you have any input or tips my inbox is always open 🙏🫶💕

But also some news!
First of all, I wanted to remind you that my pricelist will be updated by the end of the week, so please feel free to message me if you want to take a slot to commission me with my current prices!
Second of all, we got our twitter account back! We ended up deleting that one post that twitter didn’t like (yes, the one that doesn’t have anything explicit or any nudity on it), which obviously sucks, but at least now we can jump back to posting more or less regularly.
And now that this situation is over, I can say about the thing that honestly tickled me: the last person who wrote a callout post on me right before our acc got locked (=the person who very likely caused the massreporting in the first place) got accused of grooming a 13 y.o. and had their account terminated the very next day. What a great illustration of how the fandom climate works, right? Hilarious.
Alright, replies replies. Some about Fellow and Gidel, some about Rook, Idia, a little bit of Lilia and some miscellaneous asks.
Anonymous asked:
wait, Fellow is it a good idea for Gidel to write?? Isn't he illiterate?? (I might be wrong on the writing part, but I'm pretty sure Gidel is said to be unable to speak because he didn't get an education :(, r.i.p to the poor boy)
But look at it, Anon! He clearly writes, and like a typical doctor as well! A highly educated man!
Tumblr media
(Yeah, Gidel doesn’t know how to write lol I am not sure if Fellow is super literate either… just like the characters they are inspired by lol)
Anonymous asked:
I want to bite Idia’s thighs but I also want to nibble Lilia’s legs courtesy of your pic of him in those delicious Playful Land tights 😩
(this is about a sketch from ko-fi)
They really are nibbleable… nibbable… one would want to nib on them. And Lilia knows that :(
Thank you <3
irregardlessly-tish asked:
Since you started posting Fellow art I said to myself "I guess I'm watching that event now so I can look at the art and think yeah, he would totally get gang banged by them" lol
Tish! You’re great as always lol I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Fellow is so breedable it’s insane. I can’t help it.
unofficialwheatdog asked:
I'm gonna snatch Fellow away from everyone
Like that my husband, he fluffiness mine and mine alone
Mwah mwah to Fellow I wove him and the way you draw him
he's too good for them but ruined enough for me(lol me in my possessive era)
Omg real possessive era lol I get it, he really is fluffy to the point of leaving one speechless. But please understand, these boys can’t hold back at all… :( Be kinder them, they can’t help it!
I’m glad you love how I draw him <3
Anonymous asked:
Curious, u do non con/ rape art?
Pls tag if yes, I wanna see
I do, but I also don’t remember any recent noncon piece to tag anything lol I am definitely not opposed to it, and a lot of our nsfw pieces have at least dub-con vibes. I guess that one general!Lilia/Idia piece comes to mind first! And octopus!Azul/Idia that I drew for the same zine…
Maybe it would be easier to look through my pixiv logs; all the nsfw pieces are usually closer to the end of the log.
Anonymous asked:
You know I never had interest in drawing nsfw, I started a fanart blog with the intent of just making cute/cool sfw pieces maybe some ship stuff. However I am sick and tired of watching the twst fandom affect the mental health of my friends. And I know at least one of my ships will be threatened even if they just hold hands.
So here’s my plan: if I start receiving hate I will make an announcement: if I reach a particular milestone of hate I will learn to draw nsfw. I will make them kiss harder. Harass me and I will become worse.
Fr tho I want to be the brave idiot in the hope that others won’t feel alone.
Sorry for the late reply! Anon, you are already brave lol I like your plan. Become worse to spite them! And to support everyone who is harassed. And to have fun of course.
I wish you and your friends and anyone else didn’t have to worry about being harassed because of your ships. So please, take care of yourself, but also? Fuck them; draw and post whatever you want to make yourself and your friends happier and enjoy the fandom experience that you and your friends create.
Anonymous asked:
"something's missing..." might be your shirt rook, idk tho 🤔
(this is about this drawing)
Oh no, he forgot his shirt again. And no one at Savanaclaw is brave enough to tell him.
Anonymous asked:
I remember that Savannaclaw Rook only cut his hair with a knife, soooo, yeah. How do you think first year Rook would respond to first year Idia and vice versa?
Honestly it looks like it lol He and Lilia have something in common…
We love first year Rook with first year Idia so much, Anon, you have no idea! And Rook/Idia in general, this is one of the things that I really want to draw properly at least once. For now we only have sketches…
But to answer your question! I like to think that Rook was very intrigued by Idia right away; of course Idia isn’t a beastman, but he is not only super bright and shiny-looking (unusual! Interesting!), but also is a very rare pokemon to see. It’s very easy to picture Rook getting excited and charmed by him, maybe he even had a period of a little obsession~ But of course none of this is in any way returned by Idia; to him being suddenly surrounded by so many loud and annoying people his age is already stressful enough, but Rook is somehow worse than all of them combined. He hates everyone from Savanaclaw, but they’re usually just rude jerks, but Rook? If only he was a rude jerk…
Anonymous asked:
Chen’ya, are you flashing people on purpose? What are you gonna do if someone likes it?
(related to this post)
Knowing Che’nya, he’ll probably disappear lol Never let them guess your next move. They liked it? Too bad. They didn’t like it? Oh too bad… >:3
Sometimes he is in a flirty mood though~
Anonymous asked:
I’m surprised Lilia doesn’t also spank Idia to punish him
He really should, and his spanks wouldn’t be as murderous as Azul’s! Idia is going to receive punishment AND survive!
I can picture Lilia stopping mid-spank with the realisation though: oh right, this isn’t his kid, this is Idia…
Anonymous asked:
(tw: self-harm)
this might be a bit dark but i’m curious: do you think idia self-harms? every now and then, i see ppl draw him with SH scars. i’ve never been able to decide if it feels like him or not. punishing himself, hating himself, wanting to control this one aspect of his life bc he can’t control anything else sound like idia, but also, being too resigned, lazy, or phobic of pain also sound like idia… little nutjob he is 😒 thoughts?
This is such a good question, Anon. It’s honestly still kind of easy to imagine him doing that. He punishes himself constantly, and while I don’t think this is necessarily about control, this absolutely could be about wanting to make himself feel even worse or to distract himself from the other kind of deep pain he’s feeling. Since we’re talking about a character here, as an artist I can also add that seeing him this way could be aesthetically pleasing, there are some very good artworks with this theme.
That being said, we usually tend to think that Idia wouldn’t do that. I agree that Idia being phobic of pain sounds very like him, but also? He is very detached from the physical side of things in general, I think. He would rather torment himself mentally.
Another reason for Idia and selfharm not really working in our heads is that I don’t think Ortho would let him. He is very sensitive to changes in his health condition after all.

Hey there! The quick and easy TLDR? I reblog fanworks every day and I love when people submit stuff I haven't seen. Under the cut is an FAQ (including instructions on how to submit fanworks or let me know if I reblogged stolen art). Please read before you send something! Here's links to the askbox and submit.
How does this work?
I track the tags for animations, coloring books, comics, commissions, cosplayers, dioramas, edits, icons, fanart, fanfic, fanmixes, fanvids, filk, gifs, merch, moodboards, podcasts, podfics, poetry, sculptures, and zines. When something new shows up in those tags, I add it to the queue!
Some fanworks aren't put in my tracked tags, or are posted to other sites, like AO3 or Instagram. You can submit links to them, and I'll add them to the queue with the rest. (Just a note: don't try to put them in the askbox! Links and media can only be submitted.)
If you know of an art form that's not mentioned here, I'd love to see it! Send me a link to its tag and I'll keep an eye out for new stuff.
Do you reblog XYZ?
Probably! If it's a fanwork, and it's related to Star Wars, I'll reblog it. Crossovers, fusions, AUs, translations, and non-English works are welcome. I reblog works that contain triggering content or are rated R/Mature/Explicit, and this is a proship blog, including master/padawan and clone/clone. Everything is tagged so it can be filtered out if you don't like it.
That means you're going to reblog some character/ship/trope/creator I don't like!
I don't give a shit.
But it's gross/immoral/hurts my feelings!
I still don't give a shit.
What's your tagging system?
Non-fanwork posts are tagged #admin talk and answered asks are tagged #ask. All fanworks are tagged with their type, as listed in the first question's answer. "#nsfw (violence)" and "#nsfw (sex)" are used for mature content. I tag triggers and am happy to expand my taglist, just send me an ask. Current trigger tags: abuse, death, flashing, sexual assault, and smoking.
Works are tagged with the creator's username. I tag the names of all the characters and relationships, and if a work is character-critical or part of a series. Relationships are tagged with character names in alphabetical order, using "&" for platonic and "/" for romantic. AUs are tagged with their type, and crossovers and fusions are tagged with their other fandom(s).
I also tag 'creature' for works with animals, 'droid' for works with droids, and 'ship' for works with spacecraft and vehicles. 'The Bad Batch', 'Jedi', and 'Rebel Alliance' are tagged for group-themed works. Original characters are tagged with their type: Chiss, clone, droid, Jedi, Mandalorian, Sith, Twi'lek, Wookiee, etc.
If a tag is missing or wrong, please let me know! I don't read or listen to everything I reblog, as I simply don't have the time or spoons. All written and audio works are tagged based on the OP's tags. Let me know the chapter (for written) or timestamp (for audio), and what should be tagged. Submit that with a link to my reblog.
How do I submit something?
First, please check the blog for everything tagged with that creator's name. It might already be here! If not, the rest of this answer will walk you through the submission process. Submit as much as you want!
There's a link at the top of this post to submit. You can also check beneath the blog's banner on mobile or desktop. To the right of the Ask link is a meatball menu (three dots in a row). Click or tap that, then 'Submit'. However you get to the submit page, you'll see this:
1 is the drop-down for post type. 2 is where tumblr will prompt you to put your name and email if you're not logged in. Do not put your real name. "N/A" or "nothing" will work for both fields. 3 is where you put a link to what you want to submit. You'll have to check the box by 4 (and do a captcha if you're not logged in) before hitting the Submit button.
Don't worry about providing the information that I tag with! I take the link and do all the formatting and tagging myself.
You might not see a work posted in the same day or week that you submitted it, due to the length of the queue. If you want to make sure that something gets shared, you can DM me or send an ask, to check if it's in the queue. Please don't resubmit unless I ask you to.
How do I tell you that you reblogged stolen/reposted/uncredited works?
Submit a link to what I reblogged with a link to the original artist's post. If you don't see the work removed in three days, feel free to follow up by sending a DM or ask. Please don't resubmit unless I ask you to.
I still have more questions/want to tell you something/I like the nuance poll option.
No problem! My askbox is open to whatever you want to share, and anon is enabled. I aim to check the blog at least daily so I can reply to things fairly quickly. Please only DM me if you're checking whether I saw your submitted post!
This is a cool blog!
Thanks, I think so too :) It's my hope that having a 'one stop shop' for fanworks will help creators reach a wider audience. The best way to support them - and me! - is to reblog the stuff you like. Especially with some enthusiastic tags!

hi!! different person, but similar question to the person who asked about selling things online as a disabled artist. I would also appreciate an answer from anyone who has experience on this kind of thing, I will be keeping an eye on notes!! :3
I'm not really able to find work where I live, I don't have a diploma or a car and I'm physically unable to do food work. i am artistically skilled though and want to be like, a fandom artist? I want to make prints, stickers, shirts, charms, zines/doujinshis, and eventually more physical stuff like fursuit parts when I'm able to afford exploring that. also digital goods like adopts or YCH/commissions.
do you (or anyone in notes!) have resources or info or experience on selling like, trinkets and art merch? keeping motivation on developing into a freelance career artist?? I know it'll take a while but I'm willing to do the work & I'm willing to sacrifice myself and my art for the algorithm.
that's tough, i'm sorry finding work is so challenging for you in your situation. conventional jobs have been off limit to me for years due to lack of transportation, disability, and so on, so i totally understand that. the economy is harsh right now
the thing to keep in mind when starting is how many different kinds of supplies you will need. the different projects you can do are going to directly be limited by how many supplies you can afford. many hobbies use the same types of materials, wire can be used for wire wrapping, keychains, necklaces, and many other things. elastic string can make both necklaces and bracelets. acrylic paint can be used for a lot of things like altering clothing and objects as well as traditional paintings. thrift stores often times have large boxes of stone, wood, and plastic beads which can be used to make a variety of different types of jewelry. i've also found bulk perler beads, and other craft supplies!
i've always wanted to make fursuits as well, but i would need a sewing machine and a lot of fabric LOL. i'd be curious to hear from fursuit makers since that's been an interest of mine since i first learned about them
mailing things isn't too bad all things considered, you may be able to get free pickup for your outgoing products. also keep in mind that you will need to buy and print shipping labels for every order you ship. motivation is tough but i mitigate that one by allowing myself to try something new when i get bored. maybe i challenge myself to make a new type of jewelry or see if another craft is affordable and look into starting that. when you're your own boss you do get to decide what you do with your time and that's one of the best parts
any other disabled artists who make their own products and trinkets feel free to chime in with advice. sometimes this is what we have to do in order to survive and that's what it is. i'm definitely not a pro at what i'm doing so i'd love to hear from other more experienced folks as well!

impera ghouls' fav art medium, from an art school dropout
found this in my notes app, i previously sent them to @gravehags but i'm posting it here because why the fuck not.
mountain's kinda obvious, but he really likes working with natural materials. enjoys woodworking and land art. despite his size, has very deft hands and is extremely delicate. makes a trip to the farm each season to get some beautiful fresh and golden hay to weave it into ornaments and jewelry. and let me tell you that's a testimony to his skill cause i literally cried over hay last october and I had to soak it in water to be able to bend it. the texture was disgusting and i got destroyed at the critique anyway lol
i've already said it before, but cumulus is totally into stamp carving and linocuts. 11/10, very calming, probably has rough hands since you have to use lots of white spirit to get the ink of off the lino, and you gotta use a special rough scrub to get ink out of your skin. puts her creations everywhere, gives you and the ghouls little cards and patches she printed herself :)
cirrus and sunshine probably share the screenprinting workshop. it's a very delicate craft, especially when you go for traditional paper stencils. but worry not, ghoul claws are sharper and more precise than your average cutter. though, a intricate multi-colored stencil implies there's a lot of drying time involved, especially on fabric. they always have some kind of brunch during that time, with tea and snacks and such. invite you to join them if you happen to pass by. (it's them printing the merch i know it)
aether makes very cool metal sculptures. he's got both the strength and the patience for it. you know those adorable little bird-shaped garden ornaments made from scrap metal ? yeah he did some because the local old ladies are always commissioning him to make them. also the workshop's babysitter, has to keep an eye on swiss and dew when they start beefing with a circular saw in their hands.
rain is very skilled in needlework. originally considered himself a better painter, since he's got a sharp eye and is good at color theory, but discovered all the ways you can use embroidery and sewing with an artistic approach during a workshop in his first year. sewed a costume made out of dried orange peels and called it 'orange leather' once. also interested in book binding. will get snappy if the others call him a little grandma while he's embroidering.
phantom is a photographer, and a pretty good graphist as well. he's too shy to admit it, but he really does know how to present his work. has the cleanest portfolio around, and is probably a huge perfectionist. i mean, perfectionism is kind of a must in art school but bug is an anxious wreck (give him a hug). very gentle, handles the lenses and lights with lots of care. mainly photographs landscapes and nature mortes, but enjoys taking portraits as well. makes a lot of self-portraits and will very shyly ask you to pose for him.
aurora makes little pop-up zines. it's a prefect way for her to give way to both her gentleness and chaotic nature. while pop-ups may look tedious to make, it's actually lots of fun, and you can get pretty chaotic with it too. has a whole collection of patterned and textured papers, she made most of them. probably has a 'cool paper stash' she hasn't touched because she doesn't want to 'waste them' and said paper is like christmas wrapping paper from 2016 (it's me i'm guilty).
dewdrop is more interest in contemporary art, especially sculpture. little guy has no patience and likes to break stuff, i see it as a match made in heaven. uses his fire ghoul abilities to burn different matters and experiment with them. kinda see him as my friend who burnt a humongous quantity of human hair for a project. was pissed no one cuddled him for two days because of the smell.
swiss is totally a performance artist. i mean, technically, all of the ghouls have a huge affinity with it, but swiss especially. a big fan of contemporary composers like john cage and karlheinz stockhausen, as well as bauhaus performance art. he likes to let loose, have fun exploring his body's and voice's capicities in an artistic light. probably submitted some kind of sextape as a project, but it's okay because the professor likes provocative stuff.
bonus : all of them probably were nude models for the evening classes at some point. i haven't included anatomical study in the hcs because no one in their right mind would enjoy sitting on a stool and drawing greek statues for 8 hours straight, but none of them would mind being the models. although they'll probably ask you for a massage afterwards because of how tiring it is to stay in the same position for so long.

2024 and 2023 summary, bc last year i was so disillusioned with my own art that i didn't make one
introspection under cut :-p
these years were pretty weird to me art-wise. in 2023 undoubtedly made a lot of great stuff i'm proud of even until now, but most of them are for zines so i felt unfulfilled in that way. i felt i didn't create for myself enough, and i even often got stuck in work mode where i couldn't draw anything that wasn't work-related, be it zines or commissions
in 2024 these feelings persist. i made some art i'm really proud of, but i don't make nearly enough in quantity to my liking. there's kind of perfectionism that made me deathly afraid of starting anything that i feel couldn't execute perfectly. another fatal flaw of mine is my lack of commitment, for lack of better term. i need to finish a drawing in one sitting or i would forget about it. this year i wish to change the former the most, my attitude towards art and creation. i want to create more freely and without so much fear without even trying first. i can especially tell this year how much it's harmed my creative process
an interesting thing i learned in 2024 was how i actually enjoy doing lineart. it's relaxing when i let myself enjoy it, but sometimes this doesn't mix well with the aforementioned perfectionism and i ended up abandoning some stuff. im gonna need to figure out a good middle ground in the future
i also need to do more anatomy study lmao

Hi, so
For some reasons my hard drive collapsed. It's gone. I'm gonna look into trying to recover as much as possible from it, hoping not everything is completely gone, but in the case the worst scenario happens, I've lost 99% of the stuff I made from 2015/2016 to. Well. Yesterday. That means projects that I've been working for months, little doodles, art that was ready to be posted, zine art, merch files, commission files, along with important documents & memories, and, as stupid it might be, progress in ridiculously hard video games
To say I'm a broken mess rn is an understatement lol
If you're waiting for a commission from me, I'll try to reach out asap; for patreon, a draft for the first tier was in the making, so there will be something posted as soon as I pull myself together
I don't think I will be able to be social for a while in this state, so - please understand if I don't answer your messages

UPDATE!
Hi everyone! I've been a bit silent lately because of stuff.
Some of you may remember I'm currently in an art residency program working on a comic about mental health, aaaaand the residency is providing to be... not what I expected. We have lots of problems with the organizers, the place is not fit for developing properly an art project, I was told I'd be able to get my insulin and other meds here and that was not true and put me in a very difficult situation and I should have received the second payment of the grant on the 15th and I'm still waiting for it... Many stuff going on. Worry not, I'll survive.
I also had two cons during the last two weekends that went surprisingly well. I was very afraid in the first con because the other panelists had only fanart stuff, lots of prints and merchandising, while I had my comics with my OCs, but I somehow managed and sold more comics than I had expected to the point I had to ask my sibling to send me some extra copies of Ellis and Gay Skaters for the following con. In last week's con I sold out Ellis and that's something that had never happened to me before. If I go to a con with 10 zines I come back home with 4 at the best, and this time I really don't know what I did. I guess I saw there was only fanart in the first con and said "anyway, I'm here to talk about my asexual werewolf and my gay skaters" and chilled out and that somehow worked for me? Anyway, I'm super happy and I ordered those new glasses I needed urgently.
Which reminds me I want to thank again everyone who helped me to save the money for printing those comics back in Summer, from those who reblogged the posts to those who commissioned or donated me any money. For real, this wouldn't have happened without the help of all of you and I can't start writing about how happy I am, not only because there is now people who has a printed copy of a comic about queerplatonic romance and asexuality, but also because I felt so valid as a queer person and as an artist every time someone commented about my watercolours or about the need of well-written representation at the con.
Also, I'll be putting THE LAST TWO PRINTED COPIES OF FOUND FAMILY on my Ko-fi shop soon. I don't think I'll be printing in English ever again because I really only go to local cons. I'll post about it around December because here I also have post-office stuff.
What else. This very ace week I'll be having vacations of everything to enjoy working on my short comic about sex-repulsion. Hope you enjoy that comic as much as I'm enjoying working on it because it's mental health to me, and because it's going to be the cutest thing ever. I also want to apply to an ace anthology I saw on Bsky, but want to send like the coolest thing ever and need some days for sitting and thinking. I'll return home tomorrow and will be back to this lost place in the mountains by next Monday, and then return to the Queer Bros project (Still thinking of a proper title). I'll be posting sketches made with inks because I feel like working with my Lamy pen for a while.
Also, here you have some inks of my asexual men:

journal update!!
i've taped the edges of the pages to prevent papercuts XD also to add some pizazz of course. i'm not nearly as good at this as a professional (my mother) so bear with me, i know it's not the prettiest. i'll just show off a few spreads with some fanart i've included so far!!
Tumblr media
first off is this little page spread. not totally sure what i'll do here yet. something mingo themed i'm thinking. i found some pink feathers to stick in there, and some birdcage tape to put on the edges. i have more feathers to use too, but they’re either white or pink, so i’ll try and dye them black.
Tumblr media
next we have a very bright spread that i thought would perfectly fit this commission i requested from @flashily!! he looks so good in here omg. i'm probably going to write or doodle something in the white margins above and below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the lovely @jemichiart was kind enough to gift me a whole bunch of cora prints with an order, so i've been putting them to good use! i've got two of them here on display. not totally sure what i'll do on the patterned pages across from them, but i'm vibing with the potential here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lastly i have some zine stuffs!! this corabelle sticker is from the shore leave zine i believe, and it's like... my favorite thing ever. (thank you so much for gifting it to me, @ensignsenna!!!) i'm definitely going to write some lines from my favorite corabelle stories on these blank pages. maybe some doodles too if i'm feelin it!! and of course, the corazine fits nicely in the back of the book! i wasn't able to fit a pocket due to the structure of the cover, but seems like a rubber band is perfect for holding it in place! i'm going to see if i can find a nicer one somewhere, maybe something red/white/pink/black. the green is kind of random XD but for now, it works!

End of September Update
Just as a heads up, I'll be closing my commissions after the first week of October (06/10/2024) just so I can focus on other projects! If you'd like to order a bug from me or get any of my other regular commissions now's a good time to do so!
Tumblr media
(Bugstyle | Regular Comms)
I made a really brief post on twitter about what I'm up to but since tumblr supports more text I'll just go into more depth on what projects I'm working on at the moment and general life updates!
I used to write blog posts on wordpress for school and it's just hilarious that I stopped doing that considering it feels like I was born to blog!
In general, I've been trying to crawl out of this very odd mood swing-y state I've been in for the past year. I've been semi-public about it but I graduated with a degree in animation same time last year and have sort of been recovering from the absolute burn out of that as well as watching the animation industry essentially collapse just as I left college.
I'm hoping to get into UI/UX design this coming October and try to piece what little control I have of my life back together. I don't really know what I'm doing to be honest and it feels like I'm just pawing in the dark with a lot of this stuff.
In lighter news I've been trying to get into something I've always wanted to for years which is comics! I'm not sure how much I can speak about it at the moment but I just got into an anthology which is very exciting.
I applied to shortbox last year but didn't get in :( but fingers crossed I'll get in next year! On a related note I've made a Cara profile which I'm using as a comics portfolio and archive.

--
Those of you who've been following me for years know that I've had a webcomic project called, Happenstance (which I've restarted endlessly for about 10 years at this point). While I don't really have a concrete update of that for you guys I will say that the story is more or less fixed and whatever version of it I have now is most likely the version I'll proceed with in the future.
I did try to get the ball rolling with this at the start of the year with a pilot comic but it made me so miserable to work on it I abandoned it and started making an unrelated zine instead haha
Tumblr media
I do have plans on finishing this eventually and it'll be up on my itch.io and gumroad like everything else!
Speaking of the zine, I'd just like to thank everyone who purchased Cute Thing! I think for my first independent book project it did pretty well! It was incredibly embarrassing and nerve wrecking to promote it but I'm glad I did it.
Tumblr media
I don't know why there's an 18+ warning on this considering this zine is pretty tame.
I guess it also helped that that stupid ass diary comic i made blew up at the same time so I got to shill my wares in relation to it. Even though I think it gave me some kind of psychological damage but every time i gain minor internet fame i shrink back into my shell anyway, this is just the first time i really felt so much.. vitriol from randos lol.
It's just hilarious it overlapped with whatever guilty gear obsession I had at the time as well. Thank you to everyone who stuck around and uh.. sorry! I walk wherever the wind takes me and it's frequently towards my own characters.
But! Speaking of Guilty Gear, I am working on an Abacelsus zine I briefly talked about on twitter a couple months back. The title is sort of pending at the moment and while I did say it might be free as a digital download, I'm probably going to charge a couple of dollars because of how much effort I'm putting into this.
Tumblr media
On the plus side that means I'll probably be putting more effort into it! I'm aiming for 24 interior pages of stuff and hoping to release a digital version of it by Halloween 2024!
I'm trying to work on more prints and stickers for conventions as well and I never posted about my convention escapades here all too much but you can check out this instagram post for what I had up the last time I boothed!
Tumblr media
That's kind of all for the stuff I'd like to get done within this year but other projects that I'd like to aim to get done by 2025 is a continuation of my Cute Thing zine that I'm aiming to collate by Valentines Day, hehe how romantic.
There's nothing terribly concrete for that at the moment but I do know I want it to have more pages than Cute Thing. It's called My Boy and yes it's named after another Car Seat Headrest song.
I've got a lot of irons in the fire and another iron is that I'm also planning a 4-panel comic series for my band characters that I've posted some pilots about before!
Tumblr media
Pretty messy planning but most of my long form stuff looks like this.
A 4-panel comic series is just less intimidating than a fully coloured webcomic series (Happenstance) that I know will be finished decades later. I've also seen a lot of webcomic artists I've beloved just.. abandon their years long project and it's kind of scary to me that will definitely happen to me!!!
--
The long and short of it is that I've got a lot of projects and a majority of it is not making me any money. I'm extremely lucky to be surrounded by people that support my work but it gets hard to just do all of this by yourself with no guarantee that it'll go anywhere.
Patreon's a beast I've tried to tackle but it's kind of an ass of a website to use so I'll probably try to use ko-fi a bit more. I've kind of never really liked the subscription model and really do prefer to launch curated PDFs of my work every few months, but again I'm really just clawing at the dark and grasping at anything I can.
Let's wrap up this long post by mentioning that I might want to give streaming a shot! I used to stream a little when I was a teenager but I'd like to give it another go!
I don't think I'm going to have a dedicated persona or vtuber avatar but a small little png-tuber would be frankly hilarious. Maybe something casual to start of with, it gets pretty lonely spending everyday working on images alone.
--
Thank you for reading! It's an extremely long post to all but say that I'm scared but working on projects still! If you'd like to support me, here's my ko-fi page and while I'm working on getting more stuff on there here's my itchi.io & gumroad as well.
As I mentioned before I'm closing my commissions on the 6th of October to work on my Abacelsus zine so if you'd like to get a bug or any of my regular style commissions now's a good time to do so!
(Bugstyle | Regular Comms)
I'm hoping to make more update posts like these in the future and not psyche myself out every time because they're really good for me to collect my incredibly jumbled thoughts. Thanks again to everyone who's followed, supported or even just looked at my stuff it really means the world.
If you have any questions or just generally want to talk to me about my characters, my DMs and askbox is always open! Any professional enquires can be shot towards me email as well: [email protected]
XOXO, Stay weird!
-Eliot :)
