Currently playing through Limbus Company, finished Canto 2 and I think I'm addicted. Decided to make a tier list of the characters for my own reference. I expect my opinions to change a lot as different characters get focused on.

I find it kind of hilarious that most of Canto 2 (outside of the Rodya focus and characterising the sinners a bit more) seemed to be about establishing how much of a fail-manager Dante is. They're pathetic and I love them.

Faust appeals to me due to her arrogance (and design). Ishmael and Gregor are just generally likable characters so far. They're just doing their best and trying to steer things back on track amidst the chaos.

Don Quixote is actually hilarious, especially when interacting with Dante, but she also screams at me from the main menu sometimes in a way that's more annoying than anything the others have done, so I almost put her in annoying (affectionate). Love her too much for that though <3

Most of the second tier characters I expect could end up in the top tier as their stories develop. Yi Sang almost made top tier, but I don't think I like him quite as much as the others ranked there. Rodya's focus chapter was a bit weak, but I still like her a lot, especially her design and dynamics with Sinclair and Gregor (I like the whole "covering for her guilt and sadness with flippancy" angle too). Outis I like partially because she's based on Odysseus, but her suck-upishness also is quite funny, especially as Dante continues to be incompetent. Sinclair is just a poor little guy.

Ryoshu is where she is purely because she's had little enough focus that I tend to forget her at times, but whenever she does speak she's hilarious. Fully expect to put her higher later. Vergilious is fine, but not a particularly interesting character yet.

Hong Lu, Heathcliff and Charon are all in the same boat of sometimes being funny, but also a bit one note in a way that can be a bit annoying.

I genuinely keep forgetting Meursault exists (sorry Meursault).

no bc jackie wanted to be loved so badly and she cared so much for everyone on her team, she did their face paint and misty's makeup and tried to boost morale and she loves shauna so fucking much and they exiled her and they left her outside and she froze to death. they literally froze her out. i'm genuinely never getting over her death bc she did not deserve that and all they would have had to do was ask her to come inside and if shauna was just like "hey i love you i'm sorry" she would have come inside. SHE WOULD HAVE COME INSIDE GUYS.

A flower, clutched and crushing in her hands, the blue-white staining and eating her fingertips— a cyanotype. She gazes across the battlefield. She sneaks into the bedchambers of a beloved she kept too close, kept too far. 

Karna stands in replaced positions. A Colin sized position. An Ariana sized position.

Her heart skips a beat as she skims over Deli’s haphazardly hidden notes. She finds motes of anger, of resentment, of despair and heartbreak at the corners of rapid heartbeats. She pulls and tugs at them, rearranging herself. Presentable. Useful. Disposable. 

She slides her note underneath the pillows of Delissandro Katzon’s bed. A quiet confession. A hopeful confession. She must survive.

She is dying, she is a child, she is in love. She hopes and she fears as tears crawl down her face and the rot eats her body. She knows the ways of war and the smell of murder better than the scent of a well prepared meal in the comforts of home. She knows the quick breath of death and the slow of a pulse better than the warmth of a family and the embrace of a lover. “She died nine years ago”.

At the bottom of the earth, in the embrace of Heart of the World, her story ends in a realm unknown to the rest. All the fighting to survive, the lies and the murder, the whispering of secret secrets and the blood dripping from the end of a blade. It all comes to a rest. Karna gives in to her exhaustion with an exhale (exhale, exhale). Eyes closed and a prayer to no god. A Hunger greets this tired warrior.

Cold steel rips apart her torn body. She dies and no one will mourn her. She dies and no mother, no sister, no lover will leave flowers by her gravestone, no eulogies sung, an insignificant name. 

She dies and she looks at the face of her lover. A letter remains underneath his pillows. Will he mourn for her?

“The only secret I have left, is that I love you” and in a title that was never made for her— “Signed, Sklad Karna Solara of Scoville”.

The Pawn resigns.

man can I just say how adorable Wolf's interaction with Delia in the wedding scene is? When she's explaining her situation he gives her the most understanding looks and it's because they both effectively had the same cause of death. Delia turned her mourning of Charles into part of her performance art, and died from being scammed with asps who were NOT defanged. Wolf wanted to deliver the most authentic performance possible and died from presumably a negligent armorer who didn't bother to check if the grenade was live or not before shooting. both of them were quite literally killed by their art (not by their own faults to be fair but from someone else's irresponsibility). and it's kind of lovely Delia got such a sympathetic escort back to the netherworld who knows her situation firsthand probably better than anyone else

it's weirdly wholesome and empathetic even as their situations were both played for morbid laughs, and if Delia didn't have eyes only for Charles (what's left of him) and Wolf wasn't in a committed relationship with Janet I'd even say I could have seen things going somewhere between them
