He wasn't planning on making a public address otherwise, he was just going to leave them hanging.

Looking at the publication timeline, Megatron started out as an established Evil McEvilson-type villain similar to how he is in G1 and it's not until Chaos Theory in 2011 that JRo really gave him a sympathetic backstory that drew his characterization away from the bloodthirsty pugno ergo sum warlord into someone who once held ideals about societal reform and remains convinced of his own moral supremacy throughout the 4 mill years of death and war, adding worldbuilding such as Functionism/oppression/government corruption as justification for the beginning of the Decepticon movement. But because the start of the Decepticons was already written in Megatron Origins and every evil thing he'd done up till Chaos Theory can't be retracted and they had to keep Megatron as a villain until his story was no longer central to the Autobot-Decepticon war line, and JRo didn't try to downplay the atrocities he'd committed (some of the most sadistically disturbing things Megatron did were exclusively in MTMTE flashbacks), but rather tried to distance him from them and placed the focus on the juxtapositions to emphasize change, this as a whole just resulted in Evil McEvilson getting turned into Hyper McHypocrite.

The antis have been all over my posts in the last few days, so I wanted to share my experiences and write a guide on how to deal with them. 

First off: Our ships and character preferences are valid, no matter how hard some people try to demonize them. We are part of fandom and allowed to post about the things we enjoy, just like everyone else. Our fanfics, fanart, video edits, photo edits, etc. are all works of love and they deserve to exist and be explored by others. 

✨ Strategies for dealing with antis ✨

Don’t engage. I have checked the bios of all the antis that left comments under my posts, and the majority of them are minors. You don’t want to talk to minors in fandom spaces!! And a conversation based on logic or reason won’t be possible either. 

Delete their comments. Tumblr, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube allow you to delete comments, DO IT!! You created something with love and hateful comments have no place underneath it. Even if the comment just makes you uncomfortable and isn’t outright hateful, it is perfectly reasonable to delete it for your own sanity.

Block generously. Not only the people who target you specifically but also anyone who engages in character- or ship-bashing. People who do that for one ship will do it for other ships too and it’s extremely bad fandom etiquette. When you see a character or ship-bashing post, block everyone who liked it and then the poster.

Report people for harassment. The rules vary by site, but especially threats of violence should be reported. Also, if someone follows you to another social media site after you’ve blocked them, that is called block evading and you should report that too. 

When you see other people getting hateful comments underneath their posts, leave a nice comment to offset some of the negativity. Your being supportive can make the difference between this person never posting again and them being motivated to keep going. People are always welcome to send me links to a post that is getting targeted by antis and I’ll like it and leave a nice comment. 🥰

Don’t let the bad comments outshine the positive ones! Every time my post gets enough traction for antis to find it, it also gets lots of lovely reactions. Many people have told me that my content and recommendations made them ship my OTP, and that is the single thing that makes me happier than anything else. Take a screenshot and look at these kinds of comments when you feel down. This is the real reason you should keep posting. 

Most hate comments are exceptionally uncreative. It helps to laugh about it, preferably with a friend. ✨ Remember, you used your energy to create something and you should be proud of it!

When you see a creator you like, but they also display obnoxious behavior towards people who like other ships, characters, or dynamics, at the very least don’t give them a platform by sharing their posts. 

Stay safe. Don’t post personal information online. 

It’s completely valid to step away from social media for some time. Private your accounts, turn off notifications, do a canon reread, read some fanfics in peace. Whatever it takes to remind you why you love the things you love. 

Bonus Tip: Watch videos of cute animals to destress. Bunnies nose-booping each other can (and will) cure anti-induced anxiety. :)

✨ Platforms sorted by least to most toxic and my advice for using them ✨

1. Discord 

Discord is great because you can join servers specifically for your favorite characters and ships. If a server doesn’t already exist, consider setting one up! Pro tip: only invite people that have positively interacted with you in the past. A small server consisting of nice people is a lot more fun than a large server consisting of members that can’t get along or are only marginally interested in the topic. 

Fandom Discord servers have clear guidelines on what you can post. As long as you follow the rules, people have no grounds for calling you out. In my experience, moderators are quick to respond to harassment.  

When you join a server and you see they heavily restrict certain types of content, it is a red flag. Proceed with caution, even if you plan to only talk about “safe” characters and ships. 

2. Tumblr

I have rarely gotten hateful comments on Tumblr, and the few times I did they were easy to delete.  

A lot of the older fandom generations use Tumblr and they are more mature and accepting of all kinds of content.

3. Twitter

Twitter makes it easy to curate your own fandom experience. You can mute words you don’t like to see on your timeline, mute and block users, and most people have their ship preferences in their bio.

4. Instagram

My Instagram posts about Jadecest get a lot of positive interaction, even more than on Twitter. There are unpleasant comments once in a while, but they are easy to delete. 

Blocking a user will delete all their comments from your posts. 

5. YouTube

People who don’t like your ship will downvote your videos and downvotes lead to the algorithm not recommending your videos. 

I have gotten a few negative comments, but they are easy to delete. 

6. Reddit 

When you post in a fandom subreddit, everyone will see the post, independent of their ship preferences. 

There are a lot of minors on Reddit. 

You can’t delete comments.

Most fandom subreddits are poorly moderated. 

7. TikTok

I have gotten the most hate comments on TikTok. They can be filtered or deleted, but antis interacting with your video by leaving hate comments will lead to the algorithm recommending your content to even more antis. It can get very ugly. 

If you post on TikTok consider turning off comments, stitches, and video replies. You can also mark your content as 18+, so it won’t get recommended to minors. (Again, antis tend to be underage.)

Platforms are more toxic the more they show your content to people outside your bubble. Discord, Tumblr, and Twitter keep your content relatively well contained to your circle of friends. Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram heavily promote your content outside your bubble, which is good, because more people are going to see it, but also bad, because it reaches more antis.

Antis are loud and obnoxious, but it’s important to remember that they are a minority. Ship and let ship still exists, especially among the people who have been in fandom spaces for more than just a few years. Don’t be afraid to post your content and express your love for your favorite characters and ships! I, for one, would love to see your creations, and many other people would love to see them too.

ATSUSHI HERE WE GO THANK YOU FOR HEARING MY PRAYERS

Favorite thing about them: HIS SELFISHNESS. It's so so delicious to explore. Can you imagine a protagonist that saves others not out of simple good will, but because of egoistic self-preservation motives? It just feels counterintuitive for me lmao, and I found it quite messed up when I first watched the anime, but now it's so compelling to explore. His whole “everything I do is in order to gain the right to live” is crazy fashinating. Because lol, that's entirely nonsensical to me! There's no such thing as “gaining the right to live”; all humans, every person in the world is inherently deserving of life. All. No exception. So there's no level of “weak” or “worthless” that would make you lose that right. The fact that's it's a vision so distant and absurd from mine, idk, it just makes it very compelling to explore? “What if there was a little fucked up guy who believed the right to live had to be earned” just sounds like a very interesting premise.

Least favorite thing about them: When I first watched the anime, I think I found him low-key annoying? I just... Don't do very well with self-deprecating people and people who complain a lot in general, I usually suffer in silence and tend to (wrongly) assume others should do the same (this probably makes me sound pretty mean, I swear I try to be understanding irl). However, it doesn't bother me as much anymore, I simply think it's more of a distinctive trait of the character that makes him multilayered and unique. As of now, I can't think of anything I don't like about him if not the fact that I wish he'd rely on Dazai and others in general a little less. I know that has to do with his lack of self-worth, so maybe it makes sense,, but as of now he feels kind of stuck. I just wish we'd see him grow more on that front.

Favorite line:

There may be better ones, but I really like the delivery of this one.

brOTP: KYOUKA AND ATSUSHI they make me go insane. Already talked about this in the Kyouka post but just to reiterate: in my headcanon Kyouka really is the only person Atsushi feels genuine, selfless affection towards. It's very sweet. They're siblings. Kyouka's happiness is really important for Atsushi. They really do have that feeling of people who got out of an abusive environment learning what normality is supposed to be like together. I also really like how they compensate for what the other lacks, be it decisiveness and coolhead for Atsushi and empathy and positivity for Kyouka. Although plenty shipping them romantically, I really like platonic sskk and atsulucy as well.

OTP: I really like sskk eheh. I think they're neat. There's a thousand and one reasons why I find them pretty great. They're objectively the only reason why I got invested in bsd as well as the only thing that has me keep up with the franchise to this day. Right now, I feel like the one thing I really appreciate about them is how you can be the worst person in the universe and still somehow be loveable to someone. I think it's sweet. I also find it very fun and enterataining to explore their various soulmatism antics. They're both very complex and multilayered characters with something deeply wrong with how their minds work that makes them very fun to analyze both by their own and in the complexity of their relationship. Their collective story arc and canon relationship progression is extremely engaging and nice to follow, too. I love dazatsu and atsulucy as well!! Both were ships I wasn't particularly invested when I read the manga for the first time, but really grew in me in the last six months or so. I really dig akuatsulucy as well!!

nOTP: Nothing?

Random headcanon: He really likes reading. There's some real meta-analysis to be made here I actually had written this is probably not the right place to talk about, but in a work that's all about literature, he's the character who reads.

Unpopular opinion: He's the hardest character to write / characterize. That's why people should probably go easier on other fans when they mischaracterize him. He's just very multifaceted and genuinely hard to get. I keep seeing people being like “Stop babyfying Atsushi he's an independent adult!!” then turn around to say “he can't be shipped with Dazai because there's too much unbalance of power :// [somewhat implying Atsushi can't make free decisions for himself]”, or “Stop making of Atsushi a soft baby who never did wrong in his life!!!” then turn around to say “Atsushi is the happy puppy of the agency who gets treats and pats from everyone ^^ ” like. At least to me, a lot of people's arguments sound self-contradictory all the time; but that doesn't mean people should stop having fun and characterize the characters as they like! Just, let's stop being mean to each other and try to be a little more accepting towards others' takes, shall we? And yes that also includes letting people find Atsushi annoying if they find him annoying (although like, I've NEVER found anyone call Atsushi annoying ever, so really, what remote fandom spaces is everyone visiting? Why are you looking for clothes (good takes) at the soup store (Tik/tok I assume?) ).

Was discussing compliments last night with my spouse and it made me curious about others opinions on compliments.

How do you feel about compliments? Do you enjoy them and trust them? Do you have to be in the right headspace?

Compliments are a sticky subject for me. Growing up most compliments were either a prelude to wanting something from me or a backhanded compliment. One of the only genuine ones I can remember is when my maternal grandmother told me "Yellow is your colour." So I am always suspicious and dismissive of compliments even from my spouse, which is not exactly great.

Ah, I love compliments, but the problem with me is growing up with a gaslighting parent, you tend to not... trust or believe compliments because oftentimes the parent would say things to get what they want. And many times in my life, people say things to me TO get what they want... because I trust so easily and in turn I get hurt badly.

Also, I have severe self-esteem issues where I genuinely believe I don't deserve nice things, and people being nice to me don't actually mean it. It's a shitty way to live, I know, and it's something I'm trying my hardest to work on this part of myself in CBT to try to alter my thinking to more positive or neutral thinking. BUT oddly enough, validation and niceties are how I feel motivated to continue on. So whenever you guys send me really kind, generous asks, I really actually DO sit and cry happy tears every single time. I'm not being disingenuous in that regard, I really am moved by kindness shown towards me.

Part of being so solitary is that I don't really spend a lot of time around people.

So yes, like you, I am generally suspicious and unbelieving of compliments, but being that way all the time has the unfortunate side effect of people not giving you the compliments in the future, so in turn it becomes a "confirmation bias" scenario, as my therapist explained to me. I'm learning to accept and internalize the compliments I receive these days and LET myself feel good about them. <3

We both agreed that the writing took a huge quality hit towards the end of the manga and were MAJORLY sipping the copium juice in the sense that we were hoping that maybe Horikoshi is going to do what Kishimoto did with Naruto Shippuden. So maybe he purposefully made the ending terrible and didn't give it the time it deserved because he's planning a super secret epilogue series or something....

Like I said, MAJORLY sipping the copium juice because we were SO frustrated and upset. She recommended me some BakuDeku fics that I'm excited to read and I was totally feeling her out because we were asking each other what our favorite OTP's were and in my mind I'm like OMG I CAN'T SAY I LOVE SHIGADEKU BECAUSE SHE'S GOING TO JUDGE ME LMFAOOOOO.

It was just so funny to talk about it IRL.

Favorite thing about them: Well, she starts out as nice girl, and even after her dark turn, she still has a sad, pitiable aspect to her.

Least favorite thing about them: Nothing much. Just that she becomes a dictator who strips the Munchkins of all their rights, just so she can force her unrequited love object Boq to be her slave... and then tries to enchant him into loving her when he tries to leave her... and after she nearly kills him by accident and Elphaba is forced to turn him into the Tin Man to save him, she refuses to take responsibility, but puts all the blame on Elphaba... In short, she becomes more of a real villain than her sister ever is, and it's more than just propaganda that makes the Munchkins sing "Ding-Dong" after her death.

On a meta level, real-life wheelchair users have argued that her portrayal is fairly ableist. It's taken for granted by everyone, including herself, that her disability is a terrible, tragic thing, and her ultimate "Freudian Excuse" for becoming a villain is basically just her misery over being disabled. I only hope that Part 2 of the film version does a better job of fleshing out her character and avoiding ableism than Act 2 of the stage version does, especially because her screen actress really is disabled.

If in Wicked canon, Dorothy saw a witch during the cyclone, it was Elphaba rushing to try to save her sister after seeing her vision of the flying house, only to arrive too late.

Least Favorite Thing: this is hard because I love him so much that it really hurts to say but maybe that time he held Jesse up by the neck pretty much unprompted and I did a really disappointed face in his direction. Sometimes Wrecker really backs up the batch (*ahem* Crosshair) when they’re being dicks and I just don’t really vibe with that.

That could’ve been the toy associated with her and Lula could’ve stayed just Wrecker’s I’m so sad about it. I’m so attached to the idea that Crosshair made Lula for Wrecker and I don’t like thinking of it becoming someone else’s 💔

Why I like them/why I don’t

I looooooove Masumi because she's mean lol. like she'll just snipe people for no reason. She's really perfect rival material in terms of yugioh and it's a shame there wasn't really space in the narrative for her to be more prominent. Still, her short-lived rivalry with Yuzu was really good for both of them narratively. I really love just how she gets to be smug and a little bit arrogant, and then also gets to be the sort of rival tsundere towards Yuzu like Kaiba is to Yugi lol. she deserves it <3

Marco - we’re pretty well matched, I think, but I also feel like he just enjoys listening to me talk. So he tends to prompt me to tell stories more than offer his own.

Kid - I think he’s taking notes so he can be a better story teller, but I definitely have him beat currently. XD he does make little metal characters based off my stories though, I almost want to give him the win just from that.

Sabo - he has practice regaling Luffy from their younger days, but the fact that Luffy and Ace were his primary audience shows xD lots of sudden monster appearances and epic battles.

Sir Crocodile- not one for story telling, but he’ll let me ramble about my ideas and daydreams. If I wanted to write professionally Ivan see him pulling out all the stops to support that.

Thatch - tends to build stories with me. He’s not the best on his own, but he always makes my stories better so I think he deserves the win on this one.

All of them have me beat. I might outdo Sabo by sheer luck, but we’re both barred from cooking after the last time 😅

Thatch is way more artistic than me. Especially in the kitchen, but base cooking skill aside his icing work is beautiful.

I’m more artistic than Crocodile, but I don’t think he cares to draw or paint. He might say he has artistry in the way he marks me >.>

I think Kid is an exceptionally detailed artist, but only if he’s doing schematics. I think he gets too caught up in his head to draw just to draw and apply those precision skills to portraits, but he’s definitely doing better than Sabo.

I don’t think Sabo can draw stick figures. ^^; I do think he has amazing color theory skills though - so if you can lay down line work for him he can bring it to life.

Marco I think is super artistic, but aside from doing detailed miniature paintings on bar coasters, he doesn’t do anything else. And he doesn’t really share/show off the coasters.

Everyone of them appreciates a nice blizzard and the “need” to stay cozied up so that no one gets too cold.

But MY favorite weather is a nice rolling thunderstorm. I’m bringing Marco and Crocodile around on it - especially if it gets incorporated into sexy times. Marco likes to use the thunder to cover the sounds of moans so that I can be louder without alerting the whole ship, and Crocodile likes the way the lightning dances against the jewels he likes to leave me in.

oh god his design is so fucking cool. His weird wonky lil monkey body, his horns, the horn in his eye! HIS CUTE NOSE. I love the idea of the spurned son loathing his mother and replacing her with a new one. He craves love and built a dynasty so he could have all the love he could ever desire... but he does not understand what gentleness is because he rarely ever got it.

Post Sewers: Ansbach and Mohg. Ansbach's unwavering loyalty to Mohg is beyond all logic. But his Lord's dignity and honor is very important to him. I imagine that Mohg trusted Ansbach with everything as well. If Mohg wanted something specific dead, he would go to Ansbach. If Mohg needed and ear, it was Ansbach's.

Mohg and my OC Meira. Childhood friends turned lovers. There were times he envied them, because unlike him, her mother came to see her. Their mother gave them gifts. But he also loved her and protected her, as they were often targeted by Omen Killers for being "female" (said in quotes as they are non-binary) She followed him out of the sewers and sat at his feet, listened to every word he said. Even when his love was erased by Miquella's charm, they remained, ever waiting for the day he would return to who he once was, the little child who swore to destroy the golden order for them and them alone.

I chose the prompt "That's my favourite thing about you." This is a little post-canon piece because we simply deserve more post-canon Cobert content.

Being back from London, where Cora began receiving her treatment for pernicious anaemia, Cora and Robert get through a harsh December day.

This was such a nice project! I enjoyed it sooo much and I'm glad I could share that with you! Thank you to everyone who accompanied me on that journey! It was a nice year and I'm looking forward to 2024.
